After my 3 days and 2 nights stay, I must say that this place has accommodating and courteous staff, and has clean rooms and enjoyable recreational spaces. The location is near to most famous spots in SD. I really love Elyse at the front desk. Shes so sweet, helpful, and very pretty. Julia has been awesome too. Great people. I enjoyed my solo billiards game and my time at the fitness center too. Definitely will go back here if Im going to San Diego again. Hopefully, I see Elyse too. Haha
If it wasnt kinda cramped, and basically have to valet your vehicle...it would be 5 stars.... But.... Great staff, cozy lil rooms, the rooftop is the best part. Staff is awesome, everything is clean and pretty, just a bummer theres no balcony with your rooms, all in all, because of location, its a good one.
Nice old style hotel. Needs improvements in the bathroom. Toilet are not good for seniors extremely low the bathtub doesnt have untilslipery floors no bars to hold your self. They dont change the towels or clean the room. No to happy about. The people from the front desk and valet parking very nice an attentive. If you have problems with your knees you will have problems bring your on comodo. We have to go to CVS TO purchase one.
Staff here superb! Julie with the pink shoes - wonderful! My apologies to the staff who were on shift when we checked in earlier than expected on a Thursday early afternoon - so accommodating and friendly and helpful with food suggestions & places to check out while we waited! Thank you for a great experience on our first visit to San Diego!! Well be back!
Some of the staff was helpful. The room, theres was some kind of machine running throughout the night so we have to switcj room at 11:00pm. And the only available room wasnt any better. Its on street level so constant car, bus, people talking so my family didnt even sleep for the whole night. On top of that, theres homeless people literally sleeping right outside so very creepy.Parking pretty much non existence if you dont pay for Valet. We booked the hotel for 4 night but finallt I have to say screw it, with all this unsafe condition, noisy room and parking problem, I went to book the remaining of my vacation night somewhere else where I dont have to worry about any of those and let the rest of my reservation at WorldMark go to watse. I will NEVER EVER stay at this place ever again
Stayed with a friend whose family has timeshare. I slept on a pull out couch and the mattress was horrible. Flat and yellowed, I imagine its as old as I am (33). Im sure those dont get used terribly often, but dang they should replace them more. I could feel every bar in the frame, should have just slept on the floor! The normal bed seemed just fine and the old feel of the building was beautiful
Worldmark Balboa Park was great! The location was central to the activities we had planned in San Diego. The hotel - and our room - were clean, well maintained and comfortable. The staff - from valets to the front desk (shout out and kudos to Yandy and Elise ) get high marks for their helpfulness, friendliness and overall professionalism. We will definitely come back the next time we are in San Diego!!
Great location! Stayed here one night before leaving on a cruise and it was a super easy location to find. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. They always want you to go to a timeshare presentation the next day but we were headed out. Wouldnt hesitate to stay here again given the option. Location is great though because you dont have to deal with downtown traffic off the freeway. Easy off and easy on. Parking is VERY minimal and costs extra. Street parking is sketchy too as just south of here we found some questionable sidewalk extended stay residents.
Good day,As a family member of a long time owner I am deeply frustrated with the customer service shown by Worldmark recently. I have been using the facilities through my parents membership for decades. As time has progressed it has become increasingly evident that customer interaction is less important to the bottom line.My sister recently made 2 reservations for myself and extended family for my daughter’s upcoming wedding.I have rented a car and made flight arrangements around these two reservations at your facility only to learn that they have now been cancelled without contact to the customer other than an email. Is that the highest level of customer service you can offer to a member of multiple decades????I am absolutely devastated as to how you opt to handle members while you continually to ask for more buy in.I would very much like to talk to someone but your phone number sits on hold for hours without a human intercepting. I will not be able to refer anyone to this company until I feel I am justly accommodated .I look forward to your contact.
Good rooms and service as long as you dont trust any of the calls to schedule a sales meeting at the Mission Valley location - those guys will promise anything to get you to attend the sales meeting, but they will not deliver. The Mission Valley folks are not as disgustingly dishonest as Worldmark corporate, but they are still not cool.
Was very pleased with everything from check in to checking out. I am a RCI owner and was very pleased. Staff greeted you everytime you went in and out no matter how many times a day. Big shout out to Yandy he was great. The only thing bad is dont try to sell me when I already own but I understand they are trying to make money. Dont be persuaded by reviews about the homeless none right at resort but San Diego does have a huge homeless population but they never bother or panhandle. San Diego is very expensive so this maybe some of the issue
This is a beautiful historic building however Im curious what makes it a resort? There isnt a spa, pool,or entertainment of any kind just a polished old building. Some of the staff are really friendly! Our room was not the cleanest. Also one elevator and a bunch of check in, check out, daily so plan on using the stairs. Additional daily parking fees as well.
We love this hotel. The location is perfect. It is next to Balboa Park, the gaslamp district, and the entrance to I-5. The hotel is old but has been renovated and is very nice. If you are a light sleeper, the traffic noise might keep you up, but we slept great! The kitchenette is all we need. There is a really nice roof top area with grills, tables and chairs, a great view of downtown.
Very nice Boutique Hotel close to downtown and Balboa Park. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.Small kitchen but more than adequate. My only complaint and it is a minor one is the TV and couch ate perpendicular to one another making it a strain to watch. Not a big deal since we were out and about most of the time. This was formerly the Riviera Apartments and in parts if the building you can still see some of the original structure and accessories. Very nice.
Room was fantastic and staff at location was great. Room was quiet and clean. Free laundry and small kitchen was amazing. Parking at this location is an issue. It cost quite a bit to have the valet parking and valet parking is the only thing available. Do not do the presentation to save on parking. We were promised 1 hour but of course it was 2 hours and 15 minutes and the main manager for the sales presentation was extremely demeaning and rude. I think his name was Chas and bald. Not a good salesmen at all. Made us feel pretty stupid for turning down his offer. One of the worst experiences so far.
Beautiful rooftop, slow elevator so if you’re in shape take the stairs. Very friendly staff which remind you to “mask-up”! McDonald’s across the street so use the McDonald app to order coffee and food. Amazing donuts at the donut bar. Things to do: Old Town Trolley Tour ($37.00 - ask Worldmark concierge for discount tickets) spend most of the day getting off/on trolley seeing the town and eating at amazing restaurants. The great part is see everything around San Diego without driving! Go sailing. Rent some scooters called “Wheels” (they are the sit-down scooters).
Great 7 night stay while visiting the City. No frills! Exactly what we wanted! Reasonable price for a reasonable room. Our Studio was perfect size for 2 adults! Shower/Bathtub and toilet in a separate room with privacy full door but no exhaust fan or window. Water pressure out of the shower was only meh. Shower head was only standard. Bed was very comfy. TV was terrific. Kitchen space was terrific, provided us with great function, great storage too. The fridge was full size and the dishwasher was too! Both amenities got WOW ratings from me. A special amenity were the 2 double hung windows. They might have been old, original models, but they could be opened to let fresh air in! I loved, loved, loved sleeping with fresh air! Yes, there was traffic noise below! I accepted this trade off gladly! This Hotel participates in a FREE RIDE amenity, which we took great advantage off. Be certain to ask about it. This Hotel offers valet parking for $30.00 a day which is the going rate for hotels in the area and is a great convenience with unlimited ins and outs. We took full advantage of this amenity. This Hotel is associated with Wyndham somehow, so expect to be offered a few perks when you check in. I will stay here again. I liked the place and the staff were friendly and accommodating but the BIG plus about this hotel is its location within minutes of the I-5 ! Thanks for listening!
Really enjoyed it. Thought the room was very nice and updated. Free laundry room in the building, coffee and pastries in the morning. It was close to Balboa Park and not far from Gaslamp. Im not sure I would give the area a 10, but its closeness to the aforementioned places is a definite positive.
Id put my review at a 3.5 if I could, but definitely not a 4.PROS:-Location and proximity to downtown and the zoo. Many places downtown are walk-able or an easy Uber or bike/scooter ride away.-Rooms and Lobby are of decent quality and are fairly comfortable.-Hotel is clean-Friendly staff-Rooftop deck.CONS:-The hotel is located on a fairly busy street, and the first level of rooms are on the street level looking directly out at the sidewalk. Its not terribly quiet either.-The timeshare pitch from staff is unbearable. Theyll try and bribe you with free zoo tickets or something else to get you to go to a seminar.
The staff was friendly and pleasant, very attentive. The hotel itself is quaint and has everything you need including laundry facilities. Its roof top is one of my favorite places as it has chairs and oungers which was a perfect place to sip coffee and read a book. Will definitely visit again.
Love the building-historicalLove the staff-couldnt be nicer or more helpfulLove the area-Balboa Park is full of life, discovery & experienceLove the vibe-the city of San Diego is as friendly & nice as weve ever beenTraffic was impressive-but it kept moving & drivers were pleasantRooftop-very nice & you can bbq or bring your meal ready to sit at a counter or table & watch the city move or the planes come itNo pool-Because there is no pool, there is a whole lot less noise & commotion. Very nice!
The location is not the best, its surrounded by homeless people, and they do not offer free parking, you have to pay $30 per night which is ridiculous. Your only other option is to park on the street and pay the meter, and make sure you read the signs or youll get a ticket. The other thing I do not like is that they will offer to help pay for your parking only if you go to a seminar, um no thanks! Im here to try and enjoy my vacation not to be bothered by staff to buy more credits! Anyway the rooms are nice thats the only thing I really liked. Would I come back here again, No!
Our stay was nice, the staff were pretty helpful. We could hear people walking around during the night since we were by the stair well, that was a bit obnoxious. But all in all this was a good stay. No pool and no recreation, but its really close to a lot in San Diego! We did the zoo, coronado, and lots more!
Perfect location, parking is easy around it. Gas lamp area super close, airport 2 miles away. Nice spacious rooms, nice game room pool and foosball and a nice roof top area available to guests with a bbq grill ... the lift is tiny and slow though ... and there is no pools or hot tub/spa. Shame!
As a city location this WM was a little more upscale in the rooms than the more mountainous and beach WMs Ive stayed at, so that was nice. The chocolate chip cookies in the morning were also an appreciated bonus.Admittedly the surrounding area isnt very nice, but thats more of a San Diego homelessness problem than the WMs fault. I never felt at risk or in danger, but if I had any younger daughters, I wouldnt want them walking home alone to this place after a night out on the town. With that said, getting Ubers and bikes/scooters was always super easy. So overall a good stay.(I never visited the balcony area up top but based on the photos it looks like it has a great view).
Great location. 20 min walk to the Bay. Dont listen to the negative reviews about the homeless people, they didnt bother us at all the week we stayed. Staff is very nice and informative about what you can do for fun. Recommended...!! I will definitely be back some day...
Incredibly awesome and helpful staff. Karen is knowledge about the area and makes great recommendations. Jed at the front desk is helpful. Gary in valet was the best! Great location, close to the freeways, the beaches are 10-15 minutes away, downtown is a couple blocks away. Will definitely be coming back when Im in San Diego.
Enjoyed the short stay. Great view from the 6th floor. Elevator is old and small but they have a nice little notice in it explaining its history. In the room we had you could hear it struggle a little when going to the top but all the noise stopped at a reasonable hour for us so we lost no sleep.
Such a perfect place to stay! We were here for SDCC and it was absolutely wonderful. Easy transportation to and from the con if you dont want to walk. It is walkable! Tons of restaurants and close enough that its convenient to get to the con but far enough that its quiet.
Our family of 4 stayed in a studio doe a week. The room was recently updated and had great amenities. They were painting and recarpeting the hall ways. This is a beautifully renovated and up to date hotel. There is only one small elevator. The roof top area is great to BBQ and relax. The staff was amazing. We especially liked the valet guys they were beyond helpful with helping us out. We did not pay the $30/night parking. Night parking was a breeze. I recommend taking an Uber or a Lyft. To the harbor was $5.75. We were scheduled for a time share presentation but when we went to check in, they couldnt find our reservation. Which was fine since that was a Sunny day, we headed to the beach. would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Awesome site with old-school cool vibes since the building was built in the 1920s. If your looking for easy access to Balboa Park come no further. Very cool patio in the roof gives great city views and of Coronado bridge. Get some steaks and fresh salmon and grill yourself an awesome rooftop dinner.
I have been coming to this WorldMark location since I was a kid. Its extremely close to everything downtown and has great rooms. The only gripe is parking is now $30 a night but its valet and convenient from having to park on the street or in a parking garage that youd have to walk to. Would definitely recommend staying here!
The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is a time share so you get all the smells of meals being cooked which is not the best experience. The look from outside is less than inviting. The decor inside is art-deco-ish. It is somewhat removed from the downtown with basic but decent amenities. Sadly, I left my iphone charger there at the end of my stay and it could not be found. The person at the front desk informed me that nothing was returned to them.
The rooftop patio really was my favorite part of this place. It was 24 hour access and I could vape up there. I was on the 5th floor next to the stairwell to the roof so it was easy to get there from my room. The room we stayed in was cool. We had 3 people in the room and it was comfortable enough. The fold out bed looked super uncomfortable but I didnt sleep in it. Our other party member did and complained about it... but oh we. The drapes kept the room dark all day if we wanted. The TV had very few channels of interest which was disappointing but we were so dead when we would get home I guess it didnt matter too much. The hotel informed us we could get free rides in a golf cart but after the first ride we were unable get the hotel to secure us another ride. We just walked or would lyft. Overall it was a decent experience. Great location.
The rooftop deck is why I give this 4 stars and the rest of it is yeah. This is another one of the newly renovated locations that WorldMark has and its a historic building so it only has one elevator and when it stops at certain levels it shakes which can leave you questioning how solid the elevator is. The rooms are standard rooms for WorldMark. but the rooftop deck has an amazing view of downtown and Coronado Bridge with plenty extra space so you dont feel cramped if other people are up there with you. Also if you want a lot park in their parking lot I think its $30 a night. I parked on the street and saved myself $30.
The room was absolutely amazing. And the customer service was fantastic. My only issue was that the parking was valet only and $30 a night. I feel like that should have been just a bit more obvious before booking. I knew I would need to pay for parking, but maybe I am just inexperienced in parking pricing.
First time staying with WorldMark. It was a gift from my father for our honeymoon. The rooms themselves feel newer and updated. Love the kitchenette; made cooking dinner in a breeze. Immediately blocks are not the greatest area, but its less than half a mile to Gaslamp and Balboa Park so location didnt bother us. Docked a star for two reasons. $30/day for valet parking, which is just an uncovered parking lot in front of the hotel. And two because they continue to call/leave invites to attend their timeshare pitch. Overall, would probably return again at right price.
Okay... If you are a World Mark owner you have likely stayed in some nice places as many of their resorts are (Oceanside is amazing by the way and the best one is in Cabo San Lucas!) But this one is definitely one to avoid . I read reviews before I booked it so I knew a little of what to expect ..there were a lot of complaints about noise (there are even complimentary earplugs in the rooms if thats any indication) but we didnt experience any real noise issues. The freeway ramp is right there but its not a big noise producer. The valet parking is a huge issue at like $30 a day its also a rip off.. and,of course they say they can help with that expense which is code for sit thru a presentation and we waive it. My husband got up early the next morning , was put in an Uber to go to this presentation only to be turned away because I was not there ..the staff did not tell us that both of us had to attend and in fact Nayelis words to me were anyone CAN attend (as she saw we were traveling with two teenagers ) . So he came back and told me & said they wont waive the valet fee.. and I attempted to correct this by talking to Nayelli who was conveniently off the rest of our stay until the day we checked out . The manager , Lillie was also not there and I was told she would call me... We have been home for a couple of weeks now and I still havent received a call... shocking 🙄🙄. As we were checking out, luggage rack full and at the desk the sweet girl helping us started to charge for the valet and I have her a quick review of what had happened- she wasnt authorized to reverse the charges which I understand and didnt fault her for .. magically Nayelli finally appeared and do you knoe what her suggestion was ? Theres another seminar in half an hour I can sign you up for.. I literally looked her in the eye and told her she had to be kidding as we are literally leaving for a 10 hour drive back home so no way that is happening .. The facility itself is okay but far from the standard Wyndham that we have experienced and we have stayed in many. The rooms do not have an oven so plan accordingly if you grocery shop and cook for yourself ..the rooftop terrace is nice and has a good bbq and good views .. if you or someone you are with really likes to see airplanes fly fairly close overhead definitely go up to the terrace - we watched a few little kids get really excited watching the planes go by. There isnt a pool which seems like a major negative in this day and age. There is a small game room and a small gym. Balboa Park is close which is a plus. Lots to do there . Overall I would never recommend this Wyndham to anyone . Apparently there is another one not far that is probably great.
A perfect place for any vacationer. Valet parking, friendly staff, great view at the roof, close to the Gaslamp District, and the ocean is right down the road! Great attractions surrounding this location, and the rooms themselves...theyve definitely made a huge upgrade. Great job!👍
Stay someplace else, very bad neighborhood with aggressive homeless people, no hot water for morning shower. The inside of the hotel is ok, but the outside is next to a torn down building, a gas station filled with addicts and busy streets that are very noisy. If you leave the hotel use car service as the area is not safe even during the day.Parking is $30 a day “Valet only” which is 10 feet from the front door of the hotel, or you can park on the street which is very restricted and was never close. Pay the $30 a day if you bring a car and don’t leave anything in it.Check in staff was ok, then the typical time share hard sell “concierge” is only helpful if you put up with her pounding on you to go the 1.5 hour meeting. She actually refused to give us the check in packet until we “met” with her which was taking it too far in my opinion.Bring your earplugs to sleep, windows are so thin I could clearly hear people’s conversations on the street from our room on the 3rd floor. The endless busses, garbage trucks and commercial traffic made an 3 star room a 1 star. The renovation is nice but small and for the amount of points they charge, NOT worth it.My wife and I made it a great trip but the Worldmark Balboa and its location were very disappointing.
I am a worldmark owner. While I like the place. I like the location. I dont like that they dont give the handicap free parking anymore. I also dont like the elevator. Every time it came up - it was not only noisy but actually vibrated the room and bed, waking us up EVERY SINGLE TIME like an earthquake! You dont get much here and now I remember why we dont stay at ANY worldmark properties in SAN DIEGO.
TIME SHARE SCAM - AVOID. DO NOT STAY HERE.Basically, this place prays on vulnerable tourists with an immoral scam and they will try to exploit you. Wall of text but read on if you wish to avoid this happening to you.The hotel is pretty nice. You get a large room and the receptionist was very welcoming. Its a very cool place too. Nice rooftop level and a very cool decor. However, as soon as you check in, thats when the scam kicks in. The concierge will approach you and ask you to sit down. You then get a little info about the area and they offer you free gifts!Too good to be true? Yes.Tucker greeted us. A great manipulator. The parking here is outrageous so he offered us three gifts. One was valet parking. A saving of 30 dollars a day. Brilliant. Then he offered a free evening meal. Amazing! Finally we also get a free breakfast, which is fine but has been standard so far. At no point has he mentioned the words Time share. All we had to do was get a free uber to their sister hotel the following morning at which we could learn further about the hotels history. This is where they also give you your gifts. The next morning, it happened. We wake up hungry, wait for the uber and get to the hotel. This is where they have you. You now cant leave. Suave, well dressed charlatans are about to brain wash you into wasting your money. The provided breakfast was disgusting. They ask you to eat from your lap while they begin the whole manipulative scam. It was like being in primary school. This is when they reveal that you cannot leave until you have sat through at least NINETY MINUTES of sales speak.I left early but not without complaining. If you get this far, you should too. These people are the lowest of the low, praying on the vulnerable. They look for weakness and they attack. This is not how a hotel should operate. This is disgusting. The marketing manager Anna was a rude and deluded person who believed that was she was doing was right. Its anything but. She tried to get us to stay longer but I had no trust in her or her company at all.Eventually she honoured the free parking and let me leave, but acted like my attitude had meant I couldnt have the evening meal. I dont want your food. I do not trust anything related to your business. You are the lowest of the low and you know that what you are doing is wrong, purely for personal gain and profit. This applies to the entire company.Do not stay at this hotel. Its all a facade for a lowly scam.Do not stay here ever.TL;DR THEY WILL TRY TO EXPLOIT YOU.
Parking $30 a night 2 cars parking $60/night A week parking I can pay half year management fees. We are seniors we do have handicapped card but not with us. They said they sent email about parking we dont open emails those days. We are with Worldmark many years never had to pay parking even last time we stayed in different resort in Sa. Diego. We cut short the trip . the trip is for my husbands birthday he is very upset. No point to continue the vacation.
I love the location of this WorldMark, as an Owner of the vacation club, I am happy that the location is convenient to downtown and the Gas lamp district. Most WorldMark locations are far outside of town, so it was refreshing to be right in the middle of everything. The zoo is like 2 minutes away.I dont understand the other review, we had a studio (smallest) size suite and the refrigerator was full sized. Which was more than adequate for our needs. While there is no swimming pool, there is a free pool table off the lobby.
This is a very nice and clean hotel the people who work here are very friendly make your stay very comfortable every time Ive been to this place they always welcome me with a big smile I usually always go in for work and even though I always come home from work with the dirty clothes everyone treats me very well I give them a 20 out of 10 stars thanks, Nayeli, Gary, Patrick and Rod....
It’s a decent place with kind staff and good amenities; especially that the laundry is complimentary and open 24/7. The location is also good for San Diego. But seriously; how come that in 2018 you have to pay $16 for WiFi for two devices? When people are on vacation, they should be able to connect _all_ their devices for free, even if that constitutes a poor connection with minimal bandwidth. Then you can always pay for the upgrade if you so desire. Charging even for basic WiFi is borderline racketeering.Adding to that; parking is $30 per day. That’s crazy. Paying for parking should at least give you free WiFi then. That’s $46 for parking and connecting to WiFi even before your stay began. You can do better.
Stayed in a one bedroom with three adults and a child. Way too small for three people. Queen beds shouldnt be default, and you know its gonna be bad when they supply you with ear plugs in the room. Which quickly becomes apparent as to why they supply them, road and neighbor noise all night, even the HVAC was a racket. Then we get into how the single bathroom in in the bedroom so you get to share the space in the middle of the night. And lets move on to the smell of feces and possibly death that is so overpowering that you need to leave the screen less windows open. AMD I cant even talk about the timeshare sales staff, I already got scammed into buying a timeshare do I really have to go through a sales pitch every time I get to actually use the thing?
Located in downtown San Diego. Very close to the Zoo & Balboa park, the airport is also a very short Uber drive. They have what is called The Free Ride you download the app request a ride in the downtown area all for FREE!! This was a double bonus. The hotel is nice an very clean if you have children there is no pool so you will need to hit up the beach.
The worst Worldmark Ive stayed in by far. Long walk through homeless camps to go downtown. Loud noises: traffic, HVAC system on 5th floor; room heater. The couch is extremely uncomfortable. $30 parking, but you can park on Park Blvd. (night only). Nice roof deck More than one star because of really friendly and helpful staff.
Although parking here is not to my liking I still say this is 5 stars because the location is unbeatable. Right off the 163, close to Balboa Park and downtown. Its a short drive to La Jolla or any of the beaches. Even close to Hillcrest and a quick shot to Tio Leos on Mission Gorge, my favorite sit down Mexican food place in SD. Been here before and probably returning in the future.
We landed at this place due to Windham overbooking another location so i hesitate to take away from Worldmark but in the 2 days and nights we stayed here all they did was empty our garbage, no clean linens, no clean shower towels, no restcking the complimentary coffee. I could go on but 2 stars is generous and Windham should be knocked down in scale for the way they didnt seem to care about their horrible service given.
Nayellie and staff along with management are awesome!!! They went above and beyond to make our stay here memorable. They provided us with great recommendations on activities and restaurants to visit during our stay. We have been owners for 20 years and are looking forward to visiting again.
Balboa park, the hotel was beautiful, rustic and the balcony views were breathtaking. The staff on the other hand has a bit to learn, customer service was certainly lacking, without going into much detail, lets just say that my green money was welcome there but muy brown skin not so much. A little disappointing in this day and age but clearly these kids need to learn a little bit more about tending to customers, put your I phone down and talk to me, answer my questions and pretend like u r interested in helping me and not that Im bothering u. Eddie was about the only smiling representative, took a little coaxing but finally assisted. We were the only ones checking in and the phones were certainly not ringing. 3 young boys at the service desk and none of any help. 2 young ladies at the help desk, sadly u 2 were also minimally helpful, one of u never put ur phone down the other was only interested in sending us 2 a presentation 2 buy more of a product that she was oh so poorly selling. Please dear be s bit more courteous with all, guests and owners alike, we are owners and u certainly didnt makes us feel welcome. Thank u as well for NOT informing us that we were there on a PARTY weekend, we certainly DIDNT want 2 partake in that experience, I hope u SEE the sarcasm here. Finally, girl on the iPhone, I guess 2 pieces of candy were 2 much for me 2 have because u hid the bowl from plain site after I took the candy. I thought it was there for all 2 enjoy, I guess I shouldnt assume. Anyway Balboa park staff, not impressed... hotel is beautiful. Sadly I felt that the green was welcome, the brown on the other hand was a bother. thank u
I think that WorldMark is a place that is more well suited for a solo traveler. I was barely there, and felt that the experience was pretty much adequate. No one went above and beyond or anything but thats because its straight forward, I suppose. 4* because I feel 5*s is reserved for outstanding memorable experiences. Tho, I didnt have a bad one.
A timeshare that is a 5-10 minute walk to Balboa Park and the San Diego zoo. Grocery store or any kind of store is a good 10 minute walk away. A lot of homeless around. City college/a highschool are right across the street on Park. Lyft or Uber are great resources here.
Go elsewhere, staff is friendly but with the barely acceptable accommodations and completely disgusting surroundings I was uncomfortable and feeling unsafe the entire time. Was expecting much better from a WorldMark property and dont understand why they thought this would be acceptable to their members and guests.
Worldmark charged us $4,000 to try one of their resorts. We picked San Diego, Balboa Park. This dump is in the middle of a ghetto littered with homeless bums, and filth.Worldmark is a ripoff, and I am sending this out as a cautionary tale hoping to save others from making the mistake we did. 2022-02-14My mother and I stayed in this building nearly 10 years ago. It is one of two hotels i have truly remembered for more than a month. I wish cell photos were a thing back then because I LOOOOOVED the atmosphere. The check in desk has since changed, and yes, definite remodeling. We opened the windows at night to have a fresh breeze (no AC at the time), everything was clean, open, and spectacularly amazing. We walked all over the place. And every single recommendation from the staff was spot on perfection. Hubs and I are coming to SD in the fall and I truly hope we can stay here again.

2022-05-28My son and I had a wonderful time. The room was awesome and the balcony where we BBQd was great. Everyone was nice and helpful in checking in. This building has some wonderful history but was wonderfully restored. Looking forward to coming back. We used the MTS bus, Trolley and the Coaster to get around. Only used our car 1 time. Bummer about the parking but oh well. Other places are $50 a night. Laundry does need some repair but was free. Not going to complain. Grocery stores very near by. Loved our stay. So many great memories!

2022-05-08Very nice rooms, great staff. The one thing is a there is no parking except for valet parking at $ 20 a night. To me that was high, but its San Diego, you pay to park everywhere.

2022-05-31I have to ammend my prior review. The place itself may not be the best I have ever seen, but the service and friendliness of the staff is unmatched. Elyse (probably spelled that wrong) was just phenomenal. I came down with covid during my stay and they are going above and beyond to make my stay the best it can be...even if I am stuck in the room quarantined. Lol

2021-11-18We had a really great weekend here recently. The vallet and concierge are amazingly kind and friendly guys. Even though its a historic building It seemed like it had been recently remodeled. New carpet, new furniture, and bathroom fixtures, new kitchenettes, clean and up to date. The only quirk seems to be the old elevator that can only carry two at a time. In spite of being in the middle of the city it is quite a quiet place to be.

2021-07-23Such a nice place with super nice people! From the valet driver to the front desk to housekeeping. Very friendly! We stayed in what they call a studio which is basically a standard size hotel room with a kitchenette. It was clean and cozy, and the bed...so comfortable!Great location in the Gas Lamp district. Easy walk to a variety of restaurants. 5 minute drive to Old Town San Diego.Would definitely stay there again

2021-07-03Great experience, friendly staff! Hotel is conveniently located at the edge of the Gaslamp Quarter, and using the FRED transportation services makes it super easy to get around. Shout out to Gary for a wonderful check-in! All the staff at this location is super friendly and the one-bedroom suite we had was awesome. The rooftop has an awesome view of SD!

2022-02-13This hotel doesn’t even provide early check in. There check in is actually late as hell which is 4pm. My boyfriend and I are literally waiting in the hotel lobby for about 2 hours now waiting for our room I called for an early check in 3 hours ago and room is still not ready. Just ghetto. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I’ve never been to a hotel where there is no early check in

2021-08-24This hotel is way to underrated, and should definitely have at least 4 stars. My stay at this hotel was great, there was a small gym I was able to use and a washing machine. They have a rooftop which is great at night. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. The staff is really really helpful and nice!
