Went to get a customs form envelope and was attended by a man named Brian. I greeted him and he didn’t say a word to me. When I asked him if they had any custom form envelopes he threw 3 customs declaration and dispatch notes at me. I told him that wasn’t what I needed and that I needed a clear pouch type envelope. He then proceeded to dig through his pile of stuff, pulled one out and threw it at me. I get that people don’t like their jobs, but there was no reason to be rude and throw stuff at me. Learn how to treat people.
Always packed and USPS never seems to hire enough staff. Also they lost my ebay package I sent from this address in an envelope. This is the kind of service I would expect from my government (not good), next time I will be smarter.The staff is always nice though :)
I have asked them multiple times, if my package is small enough to fit in my mailbox, do not throw it over my fence, because my dog chews it, or it gets soaked in the rain. Today I come home & theres my package, small enough to fit in my mailbox, soaked in the rain, chewed by my dog. This is not the first time. Probably wont be the last. Poor service from these people. & no matter how many times you ask nicely they never fix it.
I had an exspensive priority mail package that was supposed to be out for delivery on a Saturday. I happened to be out front when postal worke Chester arrived to deliver a few letters. We quickly fount that the post office hadnt given him my package but when I showed him my out for delivery status update on the USPS app he agreed that was odd it and thats be out for delivery. He finished the mail on my street , went backt the post office, found my item, and came back to drop it off. Chester was super helpful and saved me a lot of time and stress. Thank you Arcata USPS!
This is the worst post office when it comes to customer service that Ive ever dealt with. They are rude, incompetent, disrespectful, and negligent. Ive gotten 3 package sent since I moved here and each time Ive had an issue. And when trying to resolve the issue they are completely rude and sarcastic. Im just dumbfounded by there laziness and poor customer service. Watch out for Gail at the front desk, she has been the worst thus far. If you can avoid going there do so.
Pause for a moment... and imagine being a post office employee... the mental fortitude required to serve impatient and ungrateful customers day in and day out... this team is overworked and under paid... despite these shortcomings, this crew endures. Have some compassion.... give this team some props when you see them. Be part of the solution. Respect gets respect.
They dont pick up their phone so I had to go down there for them to tell me that they are booked for passport appointments and recommended me to go to the US Postal Office in Eureka. I dont even have a car and Im a college student athlete so I dont have time to go all the way to Eureka. Its also unfair due to the fact that I called them 10 times and receive no answers.
Put in temporary change of address starting November 26. Have not received 1 piece of mail. Talked with an agent a week ago, said she would check on the status because it is correct in their computer system and she would call me back. Haven’t heard anything and unable to talk with anyone now.
For some reason my packages are always late or cant be delivered because of my address, come to find out they keep sending my stuff on the wrong route...the first time this happend ok ...second time haha funny coincidence... third time thats just people not doing there job or caring about it. I pay extra money for faster shipping and handling and my packages are always late and when I check the status of it they are always in Arcata. They just cant seem to find my apartment!!!
The workers are very condescending and their mask policy is poorly enforced, one of the employee’s mask was completely off for at least 5 minutes. Gotta mail stuff though
Called to schedule an appointment for a passport and was told I can walk in, no scheduling required. I get there and they tell me that I have to schedule, as the staff laughed at the situation as if it were my mistake. The lack of communication of their staff coupled with their poor knowledge of procedures makes this a terrible place for this service.
One of the workers with long hair and is a little bit older talked to me like he was my dad trying to lecture me while delivering mail. Also evil eyes me now every time he sees me.
The line is always so long because this is how much of the United States receives there marijuana. Between the outgoing shipments and the purchasing of money orders to pay bills with marijuana bucks do plan accordingly
Only lobby was open at 5 pm on Saturday.According to the hours, it looked to me like the post office was open until 530 and I drove 20 minutes out here for no reason.
Terrible!!! Unhelpful, missing packages, rude service. Took almost 6 weeks to get my mail key and my box leaks at the park where I live and the post office said they are too backed up to fix/replace anytime soon. Very unprofessional.
Ive never experienced such poor service from a letter carrier as I did today at five or five pm here at the Lazy J Mobile Home Park. First he blasted me with his horn then he went in to a verbal rage that he was pissed off because he had to put his vehicle in to reverse to pull away from the curb. This young man is no longer welcome in this park as far as Im concerned.

My mailman rips my letters in half and cumples my stuff up in my mail box. They put my mail on hold because I complained and wont give me my stuff when I go into the office. Super pissed and they refuse to fix the issue. Worst postal service ever.
If you want four different employees to tell you six different policies regarding the same topic and then just return your package to where it came from...this is the place for you!

This post office cant get right. I suggest driving 11 miles to Eureka for all business.

2022-06-13Went in to renew my sons passport. Was unaware that i had to make an appointment & bring him in. The man at the register was short tempered & rude instead of simply providing me with information that would help me complete the application properly. I asked him why he was being rude & he replied that it had been a long day. I worked in customer service for many years and there is never an excuse to treat customers rudely. I made an appointment at the Eureka post office and they were friendly and helpful.

2021-02-09My package was delivered to the wrong apartment, but within a few hours someone was at my door with my package. The USPS dose not get enough credit. The local post office and its employees are hard working, friendly, and make sure the job is done right.

2020-01-10The clerks at this post office are just awesome. Super friendly, helpful, chill & chatty but within reason, and still get things done. The atmosphere & vibe they put out is very welcoming. Ive been pushing that little green smiley face for immediate feedback. Really, I actually look forward to going there, even standing in line. For people who deal with the public day in and day out, and work for a government agency, they seem to always be in pretty good spirits! I havent had an issue recently with lost packages (sent or received).I decided to finally write a review because even if its not a touristy landmark, these employees make my quality of life in my community that much better. (now hopefully the package I just sent yesterday will make it to its destination! -- but they wouldnt have any control over that anyway)

2021-03-07The post office left my passport out in the rain on a Friday. Its my first passport and its ruined I need a new one and I doubt they will take responsibility or pay for it. Ill keep it updated but I really didnt expect to receive a ruined waterlogged passport.... Really sucks. Thanks. I appreciate it. Ill probably have to buy another one and wait two more months..... IT WASNT CHEAP

2020-08-19Not very professional. One of the big mailboxes at my address wont open and the key and key hole look rusted. The guy told me Do you have any WD-40? I thought no and thats not my job. Your job is to help customers get their mail. What if I broke it? Thats coming out of my pocket! Its been two days and they still havent fixed the mailbox.

2018-09-21Literally the worst experience Ive ever encountered is this industry. Utter lack of communication in office, with staff, with other post offices. After 5 visits in 3 weeks trying to receive a package, being assured my package would be here, leaving my name and number 3 times and being guaranteed a call- not once did they call, half ass apology by supervisor. One very simple package they couldnt seem to handle. They end up returning to sender! Ridiculous lack of professionalism and efficiency for a post office. Everyone who works here complained about staff issues and clearly hates the place, one guy said those exact words. Dont ever get anything sent here.. EVER! Unless they hire some competent employees at some point.

2019-09-09While I personally havent had problems with my packages, everyone else in my family has. My brother has lost 4 packages this week because these people cant seem to figure out how to read an address. Our carrier has delivered things to our address that should have gone to other addresses, and when confronted about it, she has just laughed it off and left with packages that should have been delivered here. Yet, things we couldnt care less about (catalogues, advertisements, general junk mail, etc.) always arrive no problem. If you have the option to, have the Eureka office deliver packages, because at least they have a competent crew.

2021-08-23Some nice people work here, but some are incredibly rude, especially a few of the drivers. If you can’t find a way to be kind to people regardless of your day, get out of customer service...

2016-08-30They dont answer their phone, ever, and the lines are always super long so you have to plan for about a 30 minute wait to pick up a package, which is difficult when you work during the daytime. And, they dont deliver packages to your door, despite repeated, written requests. I never have written a google review, but the service from the Arcata Post Office has been so poor I feel compelled to comment. It would be nice to seethe service improved from this PO location.

2020-04-08Had a job on east coast so i put a temporary forward on my mail for the time period of my absence these guys started the forward 2 WEEKS before i left!!! when confronted with this massive oversight i got a shrug w ‘ nothing we can do’but it gets betterupon my early return i cancelled my forward and had mail redirected to my box in arcataand started receiving mail!!all good right??after 2WEEKs being home and receiving maili noticed a slip on inside of boxthese guys had reforwarded back to east coastgenius!!!!
