I have done 3 refinances with Eric and his team at Uni First. Eric has provided me with the lowest rates and lowest fees compared to quotes I received from other lenders. Eric and his team are extremely fast and efficient. He is always super fast to respond to my emails/inquiries. Eric is my top choice for mortgage financing. Great service from Eric and his team. It took some waiting but because I was in Greece working at the time but it worked out regardless and we closed quickly once we got the ball rolling. Cheaper and faster then other brokers. Was able to get my home appraisal waived as well. Came to my house to sign paperwork as well. You wont be unsatisfied with Eric and his team!
Eric is a loan officer you really want to work with. He is alway there to help you with your questions and he responses immediately most of time. Highly recommended!! Eric and his staff are knowledgeable, courteous, and very efficient. Eric will respond to all of your questions pretty much immediately, without being pushy. Places like Owning and Better refused to refinance with us because our outstanding mortgage was too low. I refinanced with Uni First in 2020 from a 30-year fixed to a 15-year fixed. The cost was super competitive and they offered us an interest rate 2+% less than on our original mortgage!
I rarely write reviews but Eric and his team really impressed me with their efficiency and low rates. I had contacted several big lenders before contacting Eric for refinancing. Even though it seemed like other banks offered lower rates, they added on confusing fees and points that would take couple of years or longer to break even. Eric offers no cost refinance which means you start saving on monthly interest expense from the beginning. Throughout the entire process, Eric was very responsive via email. Even though I know he must be super busy, he made me feel like I was his only client by responding to me in minutes at all times of the day. This was in stark contrast to my experience with other lenders where I would receive a response after half a day. With Eric’s guidance and timely referrals when needed, the process was as painless as can be. The loan closed in less than 4 weeks. Again this would’ve been difficult to accomplish with other lenders, one of which couldn’t even promise me anything less than 45 days because it’s for a condo. The whole process was done online except for the notary who came out to me to sign the final paper work. I can’t recommend Eric enough and wouldn’t hesitate to refer him to my friends or family.

Eric has never come off as untrustworthy. How can you do business with somebody that is only looking for their own best interests? Eric has not once come off that way to me, and there have been several deals where we were in escrow for but ultimately backed out of at the last minute. Not once did Eric try to persuade me to continue with the deal just so he could make a profit.Rate/Cost:The rates offered are always the lowest rates that are most beneficial to me as a homeowner. I cant speak for others, but Eric has always looked to my best interests when discussing rates. Other competitors may try to offer lower rates than Eric, however they always tack on additional fees which end up costing you more in the long run. Eric has been in this business for as long as I can remember and always makes the best recommendations that has saved me thousands of dollars over the long run.Speed:When youre looking for a new home to purchase or wanting to refinance your existing home, speed is critical. Ive reached out to Eric numerous times asking for supporting materials to help me decide on the best offers to make on a home purchase; he hasnt failed me yet. When refinancing, gathering documents can be very stressful, however Ive never experienced any issues with Eric and his team. Ive always been able to close on my deals very quickly, in only a matter of weeks from start to finish. I had a previous good faith estimate from another company and Im glad that I called Eric Lao on time to make a switch ,to make a long Story short , Literally I saved over 10K that I got towards my closing costs from a small bump on my interest rate and the final rate was still over a quarter of a point less than what the other company was offering me with out taking any money towers my closing cost. Eric is also very professional and always look for our best interest , towards the close of escrow he saved me another $350 by suggesting my realtor not to close escrow on Friday but wait in till Monday so I did not have to pay for the weekend rate. I read a lot of reviews and thats how I found Eric but I usually dont write them. However, I am making an exception for Eric who did our refi and was absolutely outstanding, as was Jeanie. As others have mentioned, Erics communication is amazing-he ALWAYS responds to emails within minutes even late at night and on weekends. When does he sleep? He kept us in the loop and patiently answered all my questions-and I had a lot! Our refi was complicated due to certain circumstances in our lives right now and I was worried about about it not going through- but he and Jeanie somehow solved all the problems and made it happen. He is wonderful to work with, honest, knowledgeable,hard working and gets it done quickly-our loan closed in only a few weeks. I am very happy with how it all went and I am not easy to please-after having many bad prior experiences am not very trusting and was worried about being scammed. But after working with Eric, completely trust him and would not hesitate to use him again. He also said he would contact us if the rates drop and do a no cost rate refi and I have no doubt he will. Eric has to be the best mortgage broker in CA. If not, one of the best. I do not know how you could top his efficiency and quality of work. Hes also a nice guy. He will respond to your e-mails very quickly and on weekends at any hour really. One time he e-mailed us back on Sunday at 5 am. We asked him if he sleeps and he said no lol. Dont let that worry you, though. His quality of work is great. He also apologized at one time for not e-mailing back quickly. He only replied several hours later on a SATURDAY NIGHT and apologized for it. He even impressed my agent. Jeanie was also professional. I have nothing bad to say. The charges were great.I also really liked how everything was done via e-mail and not by phone. I was very happy with how everything went. I would not go to anyone else in the future.
