No issues at all. John knows his job and is very accomodating. You can park there and there is a drop box. John can be very busy at times so if you are in a rush, dont be mad, leave a message, call back...
The employees are rude and very impatient. The office wreaks of cigarettes and is filthy. There was a mouse trap that was visible in the office. I will never rent from this location again. The employee was very unclear about where I was to park the trailer when I was returning the trailer. He was not happy with where I parked it and began to talk about me to another customer. I am surprised uhaul allows this business to represent them. American Canyon U-Haul had very poor reviews. I was trying to rent at the U-Haul in Vallejo. They did not have the size trailer I needed and told me the American Canyon uhaul had it. My wife said how bad can they be, give them a chance. It might not be that bad. Apparently, the reviews are spot on. They lost my business. I would much rather drive further away, which is sad considering we love supporting our local businesses.
We got rerouted to come pick a trailer up from this location. The shop was closed and after calling the corporate office the manager comes and unlocks the door looking like she just woke up. Absolutley rude manager manager. Whoever the girl is with the green hair has horrible attitude and completely disrespectful. Uhaul should not contract this place for business. Do everything and anything you can do to avoid this location.
Excellent service from the young woman who works there, even when corporate is screwing up the reservations. We were supposed to have a 5x10 trailer and the phone Uhaul people booked it as a 5x8. The young lady working there now, Laurie, is a total rock star and I, for one, really appreciate her making it work for us... Uhaul corporate- get your sh*t together. Not the first time I have seen the employees at the stores have to deal with mistakes in the bookings, dealing with the public, having to look the customer in the eye. Laurie nailed it. Thanks again- you rock!
Would not even consider this dealer just after one phone call. I was directed to this dealer when I reserved a trailer online since my local dealer in Vallejo didnt have one available. Not knowing their hours of business I called and the conversation went like this.Me: Hello, can you tell me how late you are openDealer: I am open nowMe: Yes but can to tell me how late you are openDealer: I am working now, dont understand what you are asking me. I am with a customer.Me: What time do you close?............Click, he hung up. I canceled my reservation.I called another dealer in Concord with no issues and very courteous.
Don’t let the old reviews scare you! New management has really improved the experience. I was a newbie to towing a trailer (but not to uhaul) and Lori the manager walked me through everything I needed to know/do and had me in and out super fast!
Hands down worst service I’ve had anywhere. We had a reservation for a 15 foot truck, waited for a while, while he stumbled through helping rent it out to someone else (he seemed to not know how to use the electronic system). Afterwards I told him we had a reservation for a 15 foot and he said bluntly “we don’t have one” and started to walk away to help someone else. I said “what do you mean, we reserved one?” And he followed with “they had a 10 o’clock pickup for the 15 foot.” Completely dismissed us to talk to someone else. Didn’t help us solve the problem and find a different truck like every other location would do. The way he spoke was VERY rude and dismissive. I will never go back to this location and implore everyone else to do the same.
Ive used Uhaul in American Canyon several times. Ive always had a great experiance there. The last time I used uhaul I needed a 6 by 12 trailor, Laurie was a great help. Very profesional and nice. I will Ask for her next time I need a rental! She made it simple fast and I was in and out quickly. Thank you again Laurie! I will see you again soon!
Terrible and slow like molasses. Old gentleman should retire soon as his computer and customer skills are terrible at best. The office is a mess and took us an hour to rent one tiny trailer. Stay away. U-Haul has some work to do to reclaim their status due to this and several other office visits.
Worst service ever!!! All I asked for was an estimate of the cost. The old man got upset and told me $1.19 per mile! I said I know that, but how much are you pre-authorizing my card for? He got all offended, I walked out.
The place was redone very nicely and the young lady behind the desk still kept a smile and was respectful even though the customers were being rude to her , I mean come on its only her by herself and shes handling it like a Girl Boss i would come back it was great service.
I would rate this place -5. Terrible service and the attendant did not secure the trailer propery, and it came off and damaged my vehicle. I had 3 witnesses and they just pretended they didnt know anything. Not safe to rent from them.
John does really nice job of explaining how to use the equipment and is very customer oriented.

2022-05-26Awful service. Do not do business with American Canyon U-Haul. The staff is very unprofessional and incredibly incompetent. You make a reservation and they fail to follow through with it. Will never be back again. One male staff member in particular was very unorganized and though he could make up the rules as he goes. I suppose he forgot U-Haul is a franchise business and not his own. He feels he can bend the rentals rules when that is very unethical.

2021-10-29Made a trailer reservation through the official U-Haul phone number and was confirmed for this location. Showed up to a note saying John had left for the day. Would have been nice if theyd called us before we drove hours out of our way! Anyway, called the phone number left on the door and spoke to John. Kept it polite, but the man offered no apology whatsoever, was very rude and short, and after asking if he could possibly send someone else to the office to assist us, he said we were SOL and hung up on me while I was still talking. Sooooo... Even though we had a reservation, we left with no trailer. Cool cool cool.

2017-10-20This this was a bad U-Haul experience. The old man running the place just cant see well enough to use the computer to check out trailers. Additionally, the trailer he rented us back left light did not work. Not safe. If you do rent from this location expect it to take 1h for pick up even if you order on line. The place is a mess as well see photos below.

2020-12-28STOP & READ THIS REVIEW! John, the new owner of this U-Haul location took over several months ago, so please disregard old reviews! Let me start by saying that this was the BEST customer service experience I have had in a VERY long time. The day of my truck rental, John called me that morning to go over the details of my rental and to ensure the pick up would be seamless. He could not have been any nicer. He also let me know the truck was ready ahead of time. When I arrived, he made the pick up process easy, went over all the details, explained insurance, details about gas, wanted to ensure I had all necessary supplies, and spent a ton of time with me. He made a very stressful situation bearable and I will only rent from this location from now on. He gave explicit instructions about the after-hours drop off. If you need a truck rental or other assistance in moving, this is the place to go. John is delightful and in these times where you can call a business and remain on hold for minutes or hours, John juggled other inbound customer service inquiries as he was waiting on me. Just a delight! Hands down FIVE STARS! ***** Thank you John! AMAZING!!

2021-09-06John, the new owner, was wonderful to work with. He was responsive when we got in touch, called in advance to let us know the truck was ready, and when he got busy with other customers, gave us extra days to return the UHaul for the inconvenience. I wish we hadn’t moved away because he would be out Go-To for truck rentals in the future!

2021-12-28When you walk in, there are 2 counters, one for gas & the other for uhaul (but counters are connected) . The guys at the gas counter sent me to the uhaul side but never let the uhaul guy know he had customers. We waited about 15 minutes then I went to find the uhaul guy. The uhaul guy was rude. He joked to try to cover up his tacky comments. If your looking for a truck & dont mind comments & hunting down worker, this is your place.Responding to the owner:You are so right & I apologize for the bad review. Google mixed up my locations since I dropped off the uhaul to ur location. My bad experience was with a uhaul in napa not AC. I will definitely give you a try next time I need a uhaul

2021-10-25The truck we rented wasnt even there for pickup when we got there. They only had a 10 footer when we needed the 15 ft we ordered to rent. The 10 footer we settled on, but the engine light was on.

2018-07-30Saw the reviews after our experience and can completely understand where people are coming from. The guy we worked with, Eddie, is an older gentleman, doing what he can. It requires patience and understanding. Eddie came through for us though. We had a multitude of problems from the date of pickup, size of truck and drop off time. He was so nice and cordial. It did take him time to process everything and the place does need work, but he is not the owner and is doing the best he can with what he is given. Thanks to Eddie, we were able to get everything we needed, got helpful information and were able to come back later that evening to pick up the truck because of timing issues. He came through, and we are so appreciative of his service.If you come here, just know this is a man doing his best. Have patience, and be kind. The world is hard on us all.
