I would give a 5 stars because the room was clean and comfortable but there was a refrigeration truck with a generator running all night, just on the road outside the hotel. I called the office at 830 PM to ask about the noise and was informed by the desk person that the truck driver stayed at the hotel and needed to keep the unit running (all night). It was a loud racket, I was quite disturbed by it. The desk clerk moved me to another room but it was about the same noise. I blocked the noise out as best as possible by running the fan on the heating unit. In the morning I reported the desk clerks helpfulness to the ?manager. I dont think she cared about the noise or the commendation of her caring staff. I wouldnt stay here again because of that.
Clean and well kept property. The guest rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is easy to find and access. The rooms were very quiet and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast was well stocked the the attendant was very friendly and kept the area very tidy. I would definitely stay here again for future stays.
Wow. First of all, this place charges about twice what its worth. For a motel room two beds, we paid $145, for what easily should have been an $80/night room, tops. We tried to extend our check-out time by an hour, and the lady at the front desk seemed shocked I would even ask, and promptly said no. Ive literally never had anyone say no to that in all my years of traveling, and I almost always ask. To top it off, the whole outside was hideously under construction, the phone didnt work, and the toilet struggled the whole time. Im not surprised this was the only place left last night, you simply do not get what you pay for. If you have the ability to stay at one of the many other options in town, I highly recommend it!
Interesting stay. The hotel is just fine, clean and meets expectations. Was fortunately able to resolve a dispute about smoking in the room (they had the good sense to check the video cameras to verify that I in fact smoked on the street AND NOT in the room). Annoying but resolved at least. Next step, maybe fix the TV so it’s not stuck on TNT, while also being stuck on narration for blind interpretation 😹
This is a nice place to stay. Beds and pillows are super comfy, rooms are nice and well kept, price is reasonable and staff is friendly and quickly accommodating. Breakfast could use some pizazz and the rooms are not completely soundproof for those light sleeper people. To those who care, this is not 420 friendly lodgings.
The hotel is in the middle of a major construction project...many efforts are made to help ease the frustration of the project. The room was very clean, the internet worked well, the pool was cool; however, the bed was very soft and uncomfortable to me. The staff was extremely friendly.
We stayed here overnight on our way home from vacation. They didnt have any double queen bed rooms for our party of 4 so we had to book 2 rooms that had 2 double beds each. I was a little disappointed as double beds just seem like a way to scam you for more money because 2 people cant fit in one bed. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The WiFi sucked so dont get your hopes up. The breakfast was good, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, instant oatmeal, juice, microwaveable sausage and egg breakfast sandwiches, cold cereals, toast and bagels, a waffle machine. We would stay here again for an overnight if we had to.
Our original reservation was not there...booked early for a wedding. When called a couple days ahead of arrival staff dis a great job of reserve again. They sold out by our arrival. And the hotel was under construction all temporary no breakfast. And was told check in at 3pm and they were running behind because house keeping staff was short. We had to be at the wedding 4pm and it was super hot and we needed to get ready from being on the road. Not usual for Best Western we will continue to use their hotel. Nice time will be better.
Check in was good. Clerk was very friendly and provided information about the area. I ask for a quite room as it had been a long day of driving. Clerk let me pick my room. The room was OK and çlean the lights did not work on entry only the bed side lamps and bathroom area lights worked. Not enough wall outlets to charge phones and computers. Then things got worse. There where only four guest in the entire motel and the clerk put some right next to us. The walls were very thin and the guest in the next room stayed up taking till after 1 am needless to say it was a nosie sleepless night.
This is a clean, neat and tidy motel. Rooms ate comfortable with all you would expect. Good Wi-Fi and tv channel selection. Bathroom is rather small and not at all spacious compared to the rest of the room. Bed and pillows are comfy. I stay here on business and consider it good value and a handy location.
Cant get any farther? No vacancies in Lakeview OR? THEN THIS IS YOUR PLACE. A simple nights stay with a simple breakfast consisting of microwavable sandwiches and the ubiquitous waffle maker. The large flat screen TV was adaptable to our WiFi device. Quite and Comfortable, just what we were looking for. [Sorry, too tired to take pictures. :) ]
When arriving at the hotel, we discovered a great deal of chaos. There was construction going on and the breakfast room was not available. We were to pick up our breakfast in the office and take it to our rooms. No real problem. We were willing to cooperate. However, we had a two room reservation and upon checkin I requested one of the rooms be on the ground floor due to one of our party not being able to climb stairs. The desk clerks response was an immediate no. She explained that since we booked with Expedia, Expedia would not permit us using a ground floor room. I knew then and I have confirmed that the Expedia comment was not valid. So, we had to adjust to the situation and give the necessary help to our friend to get her up and down the stairs. In addition, the hotel had many vacancies on the ground floor. It was a slow night for the hotel. There was no excuse for this kind of treatment. I offered to pay extra, but the response was the same -- Expedia would not permit it. Subsequently, we stayed at Best Western hotels in Chester, CA and Sacramento, CA, and received immediate help in getting a ground floor room. Both of those hotels were also booked with Expedia. Their service was exemplary. We are experienced travelers and this experience was very difficult to accept. I felt demeaned by the experience and embarrassed in front of my friends.
I come from Northern New Jersey and was like a fish out of water being in Alturas, CA. But this hotel somehow brought all of the luxury and technology I was used to right there. It was the best of both worlds. I got to experience the country with the amenities of the city. Thanks!
I would not suggest this place. Horrible customer service and management is a joke. The room was nice and clean but the office manager was extremely rude and threw the four people we had under the bus. Tried to charge us extra fees because some of us use tobacco. I would never suggest anybody to stay here just because of how poorly management handle our situation.
Not as good as it once was. Having stayed at both this and the hotel across the street, it used to be a no brainer to select best western over the super 8. This time made me rethink that. Pulling up, they have a good bit of construction going on for the lobby. Thats not a bad thing, but it definitely made the young lady at the desk a bit irritable. The part that bugged me about the construction was the only continental breakfast being available. I was hoping to eat a decent breakfast in the morning, so finding out as I checked was not very pleasant. After getting to the room, the TV refused to display a picture properly. I fiddled with it just enough to make it work, but its something that should just work. Still not feeling that its a bad experience just yet. Then I tried to connect to wifi. Didnt work, reported no internet. Laptop repeated this issue. No page to log in, no way to resolve it an any obvious fashion. It was something on their side to be fixed. Called to the office and I was told I needed to use internet explorer... Asked about my phone, received silence. After 20 or so seconds, she offered to look at my laptop and resolve it. Surprise surprise, she couldnt. Turns out they had someone from Frontier in earlier that day. At some point they fried the main configuration and it wasnt linking with the other router correctly, so it wouldnt ask to log in. The Frontier network worked fine, but that didnt reach the room, or the back rooms, so half of the hotel was out of luck. She offered to restart everything, and i pointed out that this wont fix it since its a configuration issue, needs Frontier to resolve it. She told me to give it a chance and call the number in my room if it doesnt fix it. Yep, I was told to call Frontier to fix the issue. What!? Im not here as your tech support and I shouldnt have to do anything but connect and possibly enter some letters and numbers to log in. This isnt supposed to be a hotel that you have to fix something like this yourself, or talk to the provider that best western is paying for. That was the final straw for me... Wont be staying here again after that.
I wish I could give this hotel negative stars. I was in town helping the local forest during their fire season. I had a room reserved and when I went to check in they told me they had overbooked and had no room for me. The rest of Alturas was booked solid. I was not the only firefighter who had no place to sleep because of this horrible hotel. Never stay here!
Not worth the price, their staff represent what small town people are all about, but in a bad way-releasing information to the public or their friends about your stay upon their request with no care for privacy or security protocol, but hey-thats why they work the front desk and dont have a real job- then refusing giving up their managers number. No microwave or fridge, pool is empty, they say its seasonal, but it was summer? Carpet is full of stains and their breakfast was below average from my numerous past BW experiences. NEVER AGAIN.
When I went to book a room in person I told the woman that I had a service animal and she gave me a bunch of flack about not being able to have the service animal stay at the trails in Motel he refused to let me stay there because of my cat which is a service animal so I do not suggest anyone who has a pet to stop this place because they are not pet friendly and they are not service animal friendly which is very disturbing she showed me the sign up on the wall she can refuse anybody she wants so you know what don’t give her any Business this place is definitely not pet friendly whether it’s a service animal or an emotional service animal all the same🙀

2022-05-06The staff here are fantastic. The rooms really need a good cleaning and a refresh. The pictures on the website have to be edited. The place is about 10 shades dimmer than all the photos. My room also smelled like someone dumped a bunch of perfume everywhere to cover up some other smell.Ill probably come back again due to no other options and the staff being so friendly. Everyone is friendly in this small town. I really enjoy it!

2022-08-23Great experience. Room was clean and quiet! We were there Aug 19 2022 to Aug 21 2022. The gentleman at front desk was very courteous. Thank you! We came to Alturas for celebration of life for my sister. A very emotional time for me. So thank you!

2022-05-08The guy at the front desk was extremely friendly and hospitable even though I rolled in at 12:30am with no reservation. I had to stop here due to a weather emergency, and didnt have many options, but this place blew my socks off. Staff was great, room was super clean, bed was comfy, water was hot, and the water pressure almost knocked me down.Great experience, I have added it to my places to stay while on the road.Pro tip: Rubios Taqueria for a breakfast burrito or regular burrito on your way into or out of town.

2022-05-18Disgusting, dirty. The bathroom had mildew, dirt buildup so bad we couldn’t even shower. We stayed because it was the only option. The clerk said”sorry” & offered a free night NEXT time which we will never return.

2021-09-16Alturas is a very small town in Northern California. This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Its not sparkly and brand new but the room was very clean and smelled good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Heads up that the town rolls up early. We stepped out to get some supper at 7 and most restaurants were closed.

2020-06-23Clean, comfortable. Priced high for pool not open and bag breakfast was a tiny yogurt, tiny water and granola bar - should not advertise as breakfast buffet. Front desk allowed us to check in early. Receptionist did not ever smile nor initiate a greeting, we had to ask for her assistance before she would speak. The place was not busy so the lack of effort seemed deliberate.
