Heard about this place from a coworker and I had to try it out. First I want to say the environment is beautiful. The way they design it looks like a garden and I loved it. They had live music. They were playing jazz which was very soothing. Me and my partner got the shrimp appetizer, stake on stone (Angus Fillet Mignon) and Angus Rib Eye. The steaks were well presented and it was very delicious and soft. Make sure you try the steak with the seasoning called black salt. I am very happy with the experience and will definitely go back again.
Amazing experience. Especially with the live flamenco style band. The food was great. This restaurant has changed since we were here last. I had the Fruiti de Mare linguini. It was very good. My son had the file on the hot stone. It was also delicious. Overall a nice environment, good food and good service.
It gets 4 stars for the atmosphere, but the food was 3 for me. The setting is wonderful, out in a private garden, live music, all very romantic, and the service is polite and attentive. It has everything for a perfect date night, however the food didnt quite live up to the environs - l had the fillet with a mushroom sauce and everything was very salty, our desserts crust was slightly soggy from being refrigerated too long, and my partners salad was fresh but unbalanced with one ingredient overpowering the dish. It was fine, but for the price I expected better. Lovely for a date night, we had a nice time although the food didnt quite live up the the menus aspirations. Still, a special evening out and a great place for a celebration in Burbank.
I will caveat this review to say that I have not ACTUALLY set foot anywhere within the restaurant. We have been staying across the street at the Springhill Suites (a lovely place), enjoying a corner suite up on the third floor facing the establishment. I did notice the restaurant as soon as we checked in, the idea of enjoying a nice dinner in their obviously well-shaded patio area seemed enticing. Upon looking at the menu online though, $40 for steak on a stone gave me pause, as much as I adore that entree.I have been able to enjoy their ambience for absolutely ZERO cost, however. For the last two nights, after a long day taking in all that the LA region has to offer, right around the time one is ready to just tuck in for a good nights sleep...a Sound. It begins innocently enough, a simple piano chorus. You wonder, Is that the room next to us? Is it their TV??. But then you can hear the rising crescendo of the voices trying in vain to compete with the Sound. You realize, No, thats from outside...that restaurant!. You can hear the noises of plates and glasses clinking, also captured by what must be an AMAZING sound system...its like theyre right in front of you...YOU up in your room in the sky over a hundred yards away. The Sound grows as the night goes on. The Sound of salsa, the Sound of jazz, the Sound of SO many cheesy covers, the Sound shouting TEQUILA, and the most insidious multiple renditions of the Sound throughout the night exhorting HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!. As you huddle in your room hostage to the Sound, praying for the Quiet, you still cant help but wonder, Is the Sound even more overwhelming down there at the epicenter? Are all the speakers pointed directly at my windows?? Have all of the locals been driven so far beyond the edge that they can no longer hear the Sound???.As much as Rest is not coming any time soon, dear reader, rest assured you will have hours to contemplate all of this and more as you join the din of the Stage from afar.
This is a true hidden gem. You could drive by it once or twice trying to find it. The restaurant has good parking. The outdoor space is amazing with several distinct areas for large groups or intimate dinners for two. I have honestly never eaten inside - they have a very modern/rusitc space but the garden is so delightful, I always eat out there.
I dont know who their chef is but that person makes miracles. During these past months Ive tried most of what they have on their menu. Everything was super yummy. Its a perfect place to take someone to make them surprised. It workd for both friend gatherings and romantic dinner. Not to mention the live music there. Totally going back there after the quarantine.
Hidden gem, they have a real good menu includes steak, bbq skewers, pizza, soup, salad and couple of sea food like salmon and sea bass. They have a small parking lot next to the entrance and its free.Good service 👍 and nice atmosphere very cozy and gardeny. For drink they have few wine options I usually get one of their red wine bottles. Its good to try their appetizers especially if you are getting red wine you must get the cheese platter.I love the presentation of the skewers its so delicate and delicious 😉
Open seven years and Ive never heard of nor seen this hidden gem. Tucked away just off busy San Fernando Road, its outdoor space is a pleasant and quaint delight. The menus had variety and the food was outstanding! Everything we tried (pastas, meats, sides, apps, desserts) was simply delicious and properly prepared and seasoned. Seek out this place! Perfect for groups, parties, or a romantic evening for two. The live music (acoustic guitar and violin) was just the cherry on top.
I celebrated my graduation earlier this evening in this excellent restaurant. Well we had a superb evening and the place was absolutely one of the reasons for that happy evening. The waiters collaborated in a pleasant manner, the meals were extremely good and my buddies were extremely pleased. We shall definitely visit again for more joyful events. thanks very much.
The outdoor sittings areas are lovely with thick greenery creating private dining areas. The fountain and other touches make this a relaxing place to eat, talk, and relax. The food and dessert (chocolate mousse with raspberries) was delicious. They apparently have live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, but we weren’t there then.
A few days ago we were celebrating our son’s first birthday at The Stage and got very disappointed with the service they have offered. The party has started at 5 pm but they brought the main dish probably at 7 pm which couldn’t be normal. My guests had to deal with very very small portions of barbecue and I was very embarrassed for that in front of my 25 guests. Do not believe to their menu , cause they don’t explain you in what sizes comes the dish, very tiny pieces and portions.Surely I won’t recommend this place to anyone, you better take your business somewhere else . The worst experience ever.
Went to lunch for the first time here. I loved it! My friend and I were seated outside in a covered porch area. It felt like a garden hideaway. Not many people there for lunch (1230 on a Friday) so it was a quiet place to talk. The food was delicious. I had the salmon pasta. We were told by our waitress that when they have live music, the place is full but the place was so serene that it was hard to imagine! They had a separate parking lot too next to the restaurant.
Completely overpriced garbage! We went with a group of 12 people and paid an arm, leg, and a few lungs. ($1000+ without alcohol). I wouldnt find if the food or service was actually decent. I found a olive seed that wasnt mine in the chicken salad! The actual food was brought out 2 hours after we were all sitting there. They didnt want to provide us the food that was on the menu they sent. Anyway, save yourself some time, money and frustration and go elsewhere! I could have enjoyed a $100pp w/o alcohol dinner at a million other different restaurants.
This place has mainly community tables, so not a good place for a date. Service was really slow, painfully slow, looked like they did not have enough staff even though we went on a Friday night. Food was just ok. I had the seabass which was fried in way too much butter or oil, my husband had the ribeye which was just ok. Will not return. Theyre way too many choices out there with better service and flavorful food.
This was by far the worst service I have ever experienced. Eight of us went to The Stage to celebrate Mothers Day, but the day was marred by one SNAFU after another.First, he food was served to us haphazard. About half of us got their meals, but not until after five or ten minutes did the other meals come – except mine. After ten minutes of waiting, I went to one of the staff (our waiter having disappeared) to let him know I hadnt received my food. After another ten minutes had passed and still no food, I complained again. Five minutes later my dish arrived, but by that time everyone else at the table was nearly done eating. In the meantime, our appetizer dishes hadnt been cleared away and had begun to attract flies. Then we ordered desert. Ten minutes later our waiter informed us that they were out of two of the deserts we had asked for. It is hard to imagine why this would be since we had been one of the first customers in the restaurant that day. As with the main meal, there was a five minute gap between when each of us got our desert. On top of that, one of the deserts, the creme brûlée, was rock solid frozen and uneatable. Finally, while the appetizers were good, I found my main dish to be just so-so at best.Weve eaten here before and had not had such a bad experience. I dont know what happened today, but I doubt we will be going back there again.
Service was most excellent, as was the setting. However, as they only had one server, it was very slow. The Chicken Marsala I got I thought was okay, but my friends loved theirs. Portions are on the huge side. Overall, its one of the pricier places to eat in this part of town ($19 for Chicken Marsala), and I didnt think it was worth it. Other people enjoyed their pasta though, and their skewers are supposedly to be good. I wont be tripping over myself to come back.
Normally we love this place but tonight - Valentine’s Day - we were forced to eat from their rushed prefix menu. The main course was delicious, I got steak and he got chicken. But, I was super dissatisfied with the other courses. Hors d’oeuvres or appetizers were “different”, kale salad was a mountain of kale with a minuscule bit of dressing and toppings, hummus came with literally 1 pita chip and dessert was a weird jello/cheesecake thing in a glass. We will definitely return, but never again on a holiday like today.
What an adventure. Like an outdoor garden. How beautiful. Food was excellent. Live classic jazz! Fun! You cant imagine the setting from the outside. Braised beef? Great! Charcuterie? Excellent. French soup? Loved it! Its like disappearing into a special garden hideaway. The busy world fades!
Way overpriced with really inexperienced servers. Food was ok, but we asked for bread, we told they only have pitas. Ok, 5 min later another table got bread. Asked for juice, they had none. They brought us 1 bottle of water for table of 8. Had to ask them several times to bring the water. And they brought my sons birthday dessert with a candle during appetizers. I mean, we havent even had our meal yet. Really? Just not worth the money.
This place is amazing I loved the patio. Great service We tried the calamari and the bbq platter with steak chicken and shrimp great flavor and seasoning. Nice soft music playing in the patio and they had a band playing inside. We definitely will return would like to try their pasta and pizza.
Ive eaten at this place once before when it first opened and was not a fan. I gave it another shot tonight because its been a while and the reviews are stellar and I just have to say that my experience was absolutely terrible. I asked for a bottle of wine and the waitress came back 5 minutes later and said that they did not have that bottle and asked me to choose another. I did. She came back about 10 minutes later and said that she had the bottle but that it was not chilled. I told her that I didnt want to have a rosé wine that wasnt chilled and that I would just forgo the wine. After that and the very slow service overall, we ordered dessert which was a crème brûlée. when the dessert came out it was a crème brûlée cheesecake and that was not noted on the menu whatsoever. normally when this amount of things go wrong the waitress will always offer to take an appetizer off the bill or give the dessert for free but no accommodations like this were made. Service was very slow and too many mistakes occurred for me to want to give this restaurant a third chance in the future.
It is absolutely an hidden gem on San Fernando Blvd. It is just a few minutes away from Burbank downtown. Looking from outside the restaurant, it is completed covered with tall plants/trees. Lots of privacy. Inside is a huge outdoor seating area. Comfortable chairs with cushions. Community tables. Totally can accommodate big group. They have live music every night around 7:30pm. Free no cover charge. The servers never rush you, you can sit there and enjoy the music all night.
I love seafood and this is the last of all places I would expect to find seafood in LA. Burbank is known for its standard American chain restaurants. This garden-restaurant stands out along with a very few other ones. The atmosphere is really unmatched. Service is a lot better than it was last year, a lot. But last year there was only a seafood salad on the menu and bbq shrimps. This time we had Sailors Mussels and theyve been unbelievably good.
I booked this place to celebrate my 35th birthday with family. There were 12 of us and unfortunately, the experience fell well below my expectations. The interior is cute and they have live music but thats about it. The service was terrible!!! Our server was nice but made multiple mistakes in taking the order. The food took a very long time to come out. The first 2 appetizers were ordered took about 40 min to come out and the restaurant was half empty on a Sat night. Then we ordered more appetizers and it took another 30-40 min. Now on to the entrees, first, one of their highlights is supposed to be steak on a stone and guess what? at 8pm on a Saturday night, prime dinner service time, we were told they were out!!! When I was choosing the place, i was looking through highlights on yelp and that dish along with brazino made me chose this place. So that dish was out, we ordered other things and I, myself as a birthday girl ordered brazino. So it took about 1.5 hr-2 hours to get our entrees and guess what, everyone got their food except me, I asked the waiter if my brazino was coming he said yes. 15 minutes later, I asked again and he said that I never ordered a brazino and asked me if I want to wait another 15 min so he can get my brazino. I refused. I was so disappointed in this place and after 3 hours of the disappointment, I wanted nothing but just get my check and leave. The prices at this pace are pretty high $7 for a mint tea, $20 for leaf salad & $41 for rib eye as an example but the service does not match the high end experience they are trying to establish. I was so disappointed that I chose this place to celebrate my 35th birthday. Never again! Please stay away!
Wow, the atmosphere was beautiful and the food was fresh and amazing!!! Cant say a single negative thing about this place. My favorites from the menu have to be the chicken marsala and jambalaya. Best of all, youre not harassed by waiters evry 2 minutes to quickly eat and leave like most places. I usually end up staying for 2 to 3 hours easy. Live bands are pretty great too, definitely a unique feature of the place.
I will have to mirror Tom Pease with my experience a few days ago. First, I will say the ambiance is excellent (minus the unseen road noise a few feet past the foliage-more electric cars would be nice!) but thats as far as the good stuff goes. Like Tom, the timing for my table of four was awful, I received my over cooked salmon almost an hour before the three orders of filet mignon showed up. We never received a warning that the meals were delayed until we asked and then were told it was taking a while to heat up the cooking stones that they bring to the table. When the three entrees showed up it simply was an unseasoned piece of raw meat that you cook yourself on the hot stone (Korean BBQ style) but for $33 all you get is a piece of meat, some brussel sprouts and thats it. No bread, no salad. The menu did not make it clear that everything is a-la-carte. In addition, the three sauces that were served with the steaks was not enjoyed by anyone in our party. After being there three hours we considered dessert but didnt see our waitress for the last hour we were there and was never offered dessert. We decided it was finally time to go and had to get up and track down the waitress to get our bill. Even that process was painful since we were given the receipt for everything ordered and were told to calculate what each party needed to pay with the matching name from the credit card to be used! It was a very odd request from a upscale restaurant. Yes, the setting of the restaurant is nice but that was the extent of anything else pleasant about our first visit to The Stage. Unless I see that they addresses some of the glaring missteps they are prone to do from both the back and front of the house, we dont intend to visit again.
From the start I was welcomed by the friendly staff with a hand shake and a warm smile. These kinds of actions speak volumes to me; it helped create the tone of my experience at The Stage.I was very impressed with the overall ambiance, it definitely holds its own ground as a higher quality establishment, and the layout helps keep every spot as private or engaging of an experience you wish to have. The live music was a luxury, to know that The Stage provides entertainment for their guests, and hearing the quality of musicianship in the restaurant, really added to the experience. Nothing says you’re out on a date or celebrating a loved one more than a great band keeping you engaged with the pleasures of music. Have a bite, have a drink, get on the dance floor, sit back down with your loved one(s) enriched with laugher and delight. The menu was enriched with options, and even though it was tuff deciding on only one dish, I ended up ordering the smoked Salmon with a tasty salad on the side. You know you’re eating like a king when the food is cooked to perfection. Each bite was an immediate reminder of what a great chef can do to enlighten ones appetite, to keep simple.. Fantastic, basically what I expected from a place that showed their loyalty to their customers.I recommend coming out for any occasion, great food, great environment, wonderful staff and live entertainment…it’s a win win if you ask me, and I look forward to coming back.
TLDR:Bad service. Party of four seated shortly before 7pm. 7:31 received first entrée. 7:41 received second and third entrée. 7:55 asked where the last entrée was and was told they were having issues with the stone for the steak on a stone. 8:02 again asked about the steak on the stone and they said they would check on it. 8:09 we were informed they couldnt heat up the stone for their steak on a stone, which is their signature dish, and wouldnt be able to fulfill the order.FULL REVIEW:My girlfriends family and I decided to go on a walk to downtown Burbank for dinner last Sunday. We quickly ended up at Stage, which I have never had before, and we all decided to eat here. My girlfriend and her family have all eaten here before, and have had hit or miss experiences with the service. We walked in and were shortly greeted by the host who asked what we needed. I was a bit confused by the request as we were customers walking in to a restaurant, but wasnt too bothered by this and told them we needed a table for four. I could see several empty tables, but the host said they needed to check if they had any available tables. He then walked away and came back saying there was an available table, which ended up being one of the several we saw while standing there. We were then seated next to a large party. The large party consisted of two tables, an adult table and a kid table. We unfortunately were sat next to the kid table. I dont blame the restaurant for the behavior of guests so I didnt hold them accountable for this. Our server came shortly after being seated to take our drink order. Once the drinks came they took our food order. We ordered two lobster raviolis, the seafood linguine, and I got the steak on a stone for myself. It seemed this would be a good day for the service, but in time that thought would be proven wrong.I wish I had checked the time when we ordered because it seemed to be about 30-40 minutes before the first dish came out. The seafood linguine came out at 7:31, I was watching the time at this point. At 7:41 the two lobster ravilois came out. I told the rest of my party to go ahead and start eating as I figured my steak on a stone would be out any minute. Them being polite said they would continue to wait. Of course them being hungry they eventually started to pick at their food which I encouraged and even joined in trying their dishes. The ravioli was cold but fine, and probably would have been good if we had ate it when it came out. It was now 7:55 and no waiters were coming by our table so my girlfriends dad went to go ask what was going on. He came back once they told him they were having trouble getting the stone to heat up(huh?). At 8:02 he went again to ask for an update. At this point we could see into the kitchen, its in plain view for the restaurant to see, and they seemed to be figuring out what was going on. At 8:09 nearly 40 minutes after receiving the first dish someone came out and told us that they still couldnt get the stone to heat up(what?!) and asked if I wanted to switch to a different dish. They informed us they would get whatever we ordered started right away and would give us a complimentary appetizer while we waited. This was totally unsatisfactory and we decided to leave. We asked for the check, and while we waited we discussed how ridiculous this was. If they had told me there was an issue with what I ordered immediately after ordering I would have been disappointed, but understanding and simply have ordered something else. If they had told us when the first dish came that there was an issue with my order I would have been frustrated, but understanding and ordered something else. Instead we all ended up eating cold overpriced food. I really like to support local small businesses, but I will never be coming back here. Unless you have a high tolerance for terrible service I would highly suggest not trying this place.
One of a kind place with one of a kind food. Indoor and outdoor seating are both beautiful. You wont find food as fresh and unique as this place. Its absolutely delicious!!! Love going here during my lunch breaks. Cant get enough of this place. Finally, somewhere I can eat every day and still feel healthy.
Food looked great. Atmosphere was superb with good Jazz. Ordered soup of the day, and 25 minutes later, still waiting!!! Had to walk up to servers window to order my second beer. Canceled the soup on principle alone. Shame, as I would have liked to try more of the menu, but 25 minutes for soup is a travesty. Sloooow service
Had an excellent and relaxing dinner at this charming restaurant located on a main drag in Burbank. Dont let the main drag part fool you -- sitting on its wonderfully screened patio, youd think youd escaped to a far-off island. Lots of greenery hides you from the rest of the world, jazz music surrounds you, and canopies shield you from the sun. Food was delicious -- the chicken marsala definitely had a different and delicious twist. Try the pistachio gelato dessert, too. A most refreshing ending to a satisfying meal.
Such an unexpected surprise - with all the foliage and little corners, you feel like you are in a cozy backyard. Food was very good, though why they dont have brunch or sangria is a mystery - it is totally the sort of place you want to settle in for a few hours and have a great chat over sangria.
I was there last night with my sister. That place is beautiful!Because event was going on inside we were sited in outside. It was kind of cold and we were asking for Heater There was quite few in there but none of those was working. My sister asks for water and lemon never got it. Food was ok but Overpriced.Worst thing Ive got could last night and I have a fever right now.Never going back.
OMG....What a hidden gem! Food was delish and the ambience was beautiful. Although, I must admit that we visited on a beautiful summer afternoon and so we sat outside. So, I have no idea what inside looks like, nor do I honestly care. My visit was perfect, and I cant wait to take another trip here.
Love love The Stage!!! Great atmosphere, food and service. My husband and I thought it was quite the gem in Burbank. We had no idea it was there on San Fernando road since its tucked away. It is a must try & you will return. I know we are going to come back with family & friends. The McNealss👍🏼
The STAGE is such a quaint little place! Most of the seating is outdoors but it does look like theres a bit of indoor seating too. The service was excellent - there were 14 of us, and the server split the bill for all of our orders individually! I ordered the chicken marsala, and asked to swap out the linguini. The server, who was super helpful, recommended that I try the flash fried brussel sprouts (one of the more expensive sides), and was able to do it for free! The chicken was very most and tender, which was amazing because every other time Ive ordered this dish, the chicken was dry. The grilled asparagus and brussel sprouts were delectable as well! My one complaint is that the service was a bit slow, but this is excusable to me as there seemed to only be 1 cook. Overall, I really liked the STAGE and will definitely be back to try their BBQ Skewer plates, and their hot stone filet mignon!Note: STAGE has a private parking lot, so you wont have to worry about finding street parking in crowded Downtown Burbank!
There were five of us, and this dinner was doomed from the start. Service was very choppy. Five dinners served over a staggered half hour period. Skewers WAY over cooked. Kitchen and service failed, maybe due to a couple parties in the house. Wont be on our radar in the future.
It doesn’t get any better than The Stage. Step inside and be instantly transported to a different world. The ambiance of this inconspicuous gem located in Burbank is unparalleled. The outdoor patio features a quaint garden and fountain that gives you the impression of being in a café in Europe. This place boasts a wide food and drink selection prepared by a world class chef that caters to any appetite. Whether you’re looking to unwind with some wine/beer and tapas or are hungry for one of their incredible main dishes, The Stage has something for you. Some of their must try dishes include, Steak on a Stone, Cajun Shrimp Jambalaya, Chicken Pesto Pizza, and Asian Chicken Salad to name a few. Save room for after and finish your meal off with a Café Glace. Features live music on select nights, great for any occasion!

2022-03-26This restaurant has a wonderful gazeboed dining area covered with flowering bougainvilla (it also has indoor seating). The food is Mediterranean themed, and really delicious, ranging from meat skewers to salads to delicious thin crust pizzas everything in between. The highlight of our night was the dancer and the live music. We had a fantastic time!

2021-12-06The food was excellent. The skewers are absolutely amazing. The ambience was nice, except it was very loud. It was a Saturday and there was a dj type setup with a belly dancer. The music was quite loud, although not terrible. I understand it was a Saturday night.

2022-06-07I really liked the location and the decor, and the food was great. I ordered the mussels in a white wine, garlic sauce.. Delicious! I gave 3 stars because of the hospitality. Upon arrival the 2 men, waiters, sitting at the front were talking and smoking. So when we approached them they gave us the feeling that we were disturbing them. They did not make us feel welcome. When asked if we had a reservation, which we didnt, we were told that he didnt know if he could seat us, even though the place was COMPLETELY empty. The service that we received while we were there was not nice, and we took it personally, since we got to see how they interacted with other customers that started to flow in. Thats why we only ordered one thing, and then left. Not sure if I would go there again due to the way we were treated. Maybe it was a one off, but first impressions last.

2020-08-06Our Foodie Group had lunch at the Stage! What a beautiful setting for a restaurant! Abundant flowering trees and bushes, and art work, all on the patio seating area. They even have a special, one secluded patio area for smokers. The food was excellent! I had a seafood salad. Others had the fish tacos and said they were really good!

2022-05-05The music was great and the food was okay, but the service was bad. We had a party of 4 and at then end he asked if we were ready for our check. We asked for it to be split up and our server was super rude and condesending. Said we would have needed to tell him first and theres no way to change it once its in the computer. The tone was disgusting. We paid the single check and it wouldnt have been a big deal if he hadnt been a complete jerk about it. It was zero to a hundred in attittude shift and honestly ruined the whole experience.

2022-05-09I am so disappointed from this place. I really don’t recommend to you go to that place especially for special events. As for my own experience I went to celebrate Mother’s Day and it was unbelievable worst place that I ever been. The survive was so bad. They mixed my order and brought different things then when they brought what I want “bbq” was cold, I can’t find to describe what I felt. To be honest I don’t recommend to go to this place .

2019-01-22It was ok for me. No kids menu and over priced. The waiter was ok. We ordered a salad with walnuts and they brought without it and told us it did not come with it and clearly in the menu. We did not want to argue so we let it go. Outdoor seating was nice. Overall food was ok but not for the price.
