Excellent coffee, they clearly care about the quality of the espresso. I tried the lavender latte, it had the perfect amount of lavender flavor, it wasnt overpowering or too sweet or too bitter. I could still taste the coffee. The batista said they make their own syrup, Im glad they do. My partner got a regular latte, which was also amazing. He goes here anytime he is near Auburn, its a must try spot. Ambiance is great too, nice spot in Old Town across from the pizza place.
Professional Staff. They make their biscuits fresh every day and run out quickly because they are so good.Reasonable pricing.Small servings on the quiche...outside seating is the best way to go.Front porch seating has great view of Old Town Auburn.Very popular place but not crowded nor do you feel rushed.
This is a very cute beer and coffee place in auburn. We stopped here on the way back home and I really appreciated the fact they had beer flights and non-alcoholic beverages. My flight was delicious and they had some really good ciders available and my partner liked his mocha. There is lots of seating and I like all the outdoor areas. I think the name is really fun too!
So, so beautiful. Coffee is delightful. The building they chose to open this shop at and the decor is tastefully done. Beauty is seriously lurking at every corner. You sit inside – beauty. Stand outside – beauty. You look at the hip, cool people waiting in line, wearing their neutral colored outfits – beauty!
Great coffee and good food. Typically good service and good ambiance. Often too crowded and no WiFi when I’d care to use it nor are there outlets for charging. Overall a place to go to be social but not to hang out on your computer on the weekend. Also a little overpriced for what it is but that could just be the times.
I ordered a crossiant for here and my coffee to go and I thought that was communicated to the person on the register but we had a miscommunication which is fine but when I asked the person on the coffee line to put in a to go cup as we had an appointment to head to. They seemed bothered and like I had spat at them. Honestly you are coming here for just the ambiance(hipster vibe, if that’s your cup of tea) and not the service. Just a thought to keep in mind for your next visit.
Traveling through the area couple days ago with family and looked up coffee shops in Auburn area and found this gem! It was busy (good for them) so our wait was a bit but expected. Our coffees were spot on, the Baristas were particular with the details of a good shot and it showed in the quality of our drinks. The employees were friendly and courteous. Would definitely recommend.
Who doesnt love a good pun? Who loves beer? And likes food? Easy answer: this Local Guide. The (sort of) young staff were great. They were very helpful with the draft beer selection and describing the menu items. The salads were a delicious dinner on a hot summer night.I was really happy to find this remarkable place. Im staying in a different part of town and wanted a little walk and found The Pour Choice by searching for beer on Google Maps.Ill definitely return the next time Im in Auburn.
This is a very nice place to grab a coffee or a quick snack. They have a meandering seating area that includes some upstairs nooks. This offers a nice place to have a conversation, do some homework or just people watch over Old Town Auburn. They have a nice beer selection too!
My go to weekly coffee shop in downtown Auburn. I love this place. They have a phenomenal lavender latte its great hot or iced. The entire staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. The hipster decor and modern look fits it perfectly. Excellent service and they often have family friendly events and live music!
This is a really epic little coffee shop in downtown Auburn. Everything is made in house and master crafted. Something you cannot replicate with big chains, this is a must-visist for coffee lovers and oficianados. Beautifully made coffee, quaint and warm setting. I absolutely loved the experience.
Love this place and highly recommend to check it out if you happen to pass by.I agree with some of the comment that the price is Bay Area price. But my two cents is: this busy invest quite a bit so that this town can have something nice without having to go to SF Bay Area. And to be fair, this place uses good Verve coffee, and good pastries from Estelle Bakery (Sacramento). Again, you going to coffee shop for the atmosphere. Otherwise you can have it home, agree?Whether you like to enjoy your joe indoor or outdoor, this place won’t disappoint you. Check it out!
Great mocha. Also I highly recommend the in house icecream with coffee (forgot the name for it,its in the photos below). The service was great and helpful in selection. I highly recommend asking questions if your unsure about an item.(Update)Since I cannot add more starts, I instead visited the cafe again! This time it was Mocha w/ lavender & +4 shots of espresso.Highly recommend trying it out. They also offered $2 off for iced drinks due to the heat.*Also noticed a 1 star review from a dude , complaining about some bs. Listen you derp, why you mad?Was the service bad? Were the drinks terrible? You are a highly volatile snowflake.
I love this type of environment, cozy friendly and local. I have to admit my standards for coffee is pretty high so my friends recommend The Pour Choice. Since I was in the neighborhood and craving some coffee this was a must to try. First impressions as we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff there was just chill friendly environment. Loved the mood of this place, live music upstairs with comfortable sitting, beautiful view from the open balcony. By the time I was done checking this place out my latte was ready to go. The latte was pleasantly smooth and the latte art that separates this place from most of the coffee shops was impressive. And what was really impressive That You Dont See all the time is how they stop and thank you on your way out. Definitely the most easiest five star rating that I would give. Keep up the good work guys.
Love this stylish new cafe! Theyve only been open for about 2 months but are already doing things right. Coffee tastes pretty good, though the chocolate in the mocha was a bit bitter for my taste, and the lavender in the sweet latte was kind of unusual. They have a few small bites; the honey and grapefruit toast was amazing, but we werent big fans of the baked bree. Wait was longer than at a usual coffee shop, but Ill discount that the the cafes newness. Shop has a comfy & contemporary feel, with interior design on point. Im a Sacramento local and dont mind the extra 35 min drive out to this gem!
Clean, modern cafe with plenty of seating on the first floor, second floor, and outside (even with social distancing)!Strong WiFi, friendly staff, plenty of outlets for charging.Enjoyed the avocado toast which costs $9.65 total including tax. A good mix of flavors and surprisingly filling!
We go to The Pour Choice an easy 10 times per month. It’s become the swankiest social gathering place in Auburn. People even come up from Sacramento to hang out here. The mood is right, the drinks are phenomenal. I have never had something as simple as a mocha taste so unique and delicious and addicting. Such a good thing going on here.Coffee, tea, wine, beer, and cider! Toasts, spreads, and fine cheeseboards.Boom!!! The Pour Choice is definitely NOT a pour choice!!!
First off I want to start by saying, I have some here quite a bit over the last couple years and the quality of food has gone down hill. After standing in like for 35 min today just to get to order (not an exaggeration) I finally went ahead and ordered the grilled cheese with bacon and 2 almonds croissants with a kombucha on the side. The kombucha was really yummy that’s the only positive to this review. When I receive the croissants, it was not even close to what an almond croissant should be. The almonds were soft and soggy and the bread was basically raw - not at all good. I was very surprised since in the past I’ve always loved their food.On top of that, the menu said $5.50 but I was charged $6 for each one I bought which it’s not the point of how much it’s the point that they overcharged me when it came to pay. So not professional at all. Then my grilled cheese Came out and I was shocked. The bread was passed toast I could barely bite intoIt. There was NO cheese on it whatever.. basically 2Slices of bread with bacon in the middle and to charge $13! For it’s unreal.Honestly the whole experience was not great.I don’t mind spending money on good quality food but I walked out of there super disappointed.
Holy moly, I drove 45 minutes to finally try this place and it was SO WORTH IT! I got a a vanilla cold brew and the biscuit breakfast sandwich, sat on the sunny balcony and was in pure heaven. This place was a whole vibe on every level, I will definitely be coming back!!! So damn good 🙏🏽
Epic espresso. Served such a great shot. “Sermon” by Verve Coffee roasters. Then smashed a Almond croissant that’s one of the best I’ve had ever. The ambiance is on point. Definitely a Third wave style place. But with marble and blacks/ whites is shows a super classy vibe too.
I absolutely love this place. The coffee is amazing the people are amazing environment is perfect. They have live music on most weekends. Not offer price. Only negative is the parking.I love the different items they offer. They offer kombucha as well as specialty teas and now started serving food items from snacks to actual full menu items. My favorite is the desert. If they still have one when you come in grab it before it’s gone.Best place in auburn.
We initially went to The Pour Choice because they had a Scottish Style Ale on tap but when we got there it was tapped out so we had to try something else. I got an American made Dunkel and my husband, I think had a Fort George beer but ended up with something he didnt order. The employee who helped us didnt seem very knowledgeable regarding beer and seemed kind of pretentious. We didnt order food, so I cant comment on that.
A great cafe with the added benefit of a good bear selection. I have tried both their regular drip and pour over options and both were solid cups. They use Verve coffee from Santa Cruz, which is well made stuff. The atmosphere is good, which two levels and some outside options on the deck.Definitely a trendy/hipster crowd at times, but nothing obnoxious. Most people are just chatting or studying. While I havent had any beers here, the selection is solid and mostly from local places (Knee Deep, Crooked Lane, etc). We havent made it to a live music event, but they look interesting. Recommended.
My go-to coffee shop in a 25 mile radius. I cant even count how many times Ive come here over the years. Excellent coffee for the purist, delicious food and pastries and a well curated collection of beer, wine and kombucha for unwinding. If you order food, its going to take a while, but just sip on your drink, enjoy the people watching or sit outside and take in the view, and when it comes itll be worth it.
Its tough to give a full five stars on this day. But, in their defense, my brother and I showed up at 3PM on Black Friday. They had a difficult time keeping orders in order with the mass amount of people they had lined up. It took 20 minutes to get a really good iced latte but by then, it was bittersweet. They tried and probably would get 5 ⭐ if they hadnt been so disorganized from being crazy busy.
Upside, the ambiance here is quite lovely. The staff was very helpful, pleasant and the food came out in a timely manner and was good quality. However, for the price, the amount of food you recieve is pretty basic. For a breakfast sandwich that cost $14 youd think it would either be a large sandwich if it came alone, or would have a side if it was small. It was small and came with no side. Kind of felt like a rip off to be honest. Thats the only area Id say needs improvement.
Nice place with a nice variety of beverages. We sat outdoors where they offer heaters for cold days. The Earl Grey Tea with Lavender is very nice, not too overpowering. Other people had Hot Chocolate, which was served with a lovely design on the froth, and a cold brewed coffee, both were reported to be delicious. I would go back for a special occasion, because it is on the pricey side, but the nice atmosphere and special touches make the prices more acceptable.
This place is so chill. I went on a Saturday for the live music outside patio. The band was great and the beer selection is amazing. Theres small bites and coffee to. Got the lavender latte after 2 beers. So worth it to have both coffee and beer. Bring your family/friends.
I ordered a coffee and they gave me about one sip with the excuse of they ran out and will get more. They never got more. Maybe don’t sell something if you don’t have it. Extremely overpriced for just about everything on the menu. Please do not go here if you care about getting what you paid for.
5 stars because I love coming here. They have a lot of room for seating, so it’s a great place to hang out or go for a date. Even when indoor seating was closed, the patio was pretty comfortable because they kept the propane heaters on and have a tent situation. The service is friendly, good drinks, and small plates/ pastries that kind of thing. My one complaint is that it can take a verrrry long time to get your order. The kitchen is small, and they get backed up on busy weekend mornings. Not the place if you’re in a time crunch. Definitely the place if you want to sit down and enjoy your morning at a leisurely pace.
Absolutely amazing. Came to Auburn to get a day away, and ended up stumbling across The Pour Choice, and let me say it was not a poor choice stopping by! I walked in to beautiful decor, upbeat music, and great service. I ordered a Vanilla, Lavender latte, and the Biscuit breakfast sandwich. I usually ain’t a big fan of biscuits but these were homemade, buttery, fall apart in your mouth biscuits. I give this place an absolute 5 stars, and will be back next time I come out this way.Side note: As I’ve found with many places in Auburn, it is not handicap accessible. The whole old town area is practically stairs lol.
I rode here with a cycling group for the first time on July 2nd. The gal at the register was very nice, with a sweet, smiling face. Even though there was a long line, she made my iced coffee and put my croissant on a plate. The BEST almond croissant I have ever tasted!!! Thank you!

2022-07-03Stopped here in Auburn on our drive from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe. Super neat little mining town with a rich history and then this great cafe spot! The coffee, breakfast sandwhich, and avocado toast we had were superb. Loved the layout of this place with the additional upstairs seating, side yard, and balcony, plenty of options. Its counter order and they bring out any food to your table. They have a sort of open concept kitchen so you can watch the food prep. The place has a lot of character and would definitely visit again along this route on a future trip.

2022-05-16Unique, small, high quality coffee/beer/wine water hole (with a small kitchen as well). They have a large selection of beer on draft, also beer in a can for the patio. The outdoor area gets some sun but also has a lot of shade as well. It’s perfect for dogs! We can speak for their coffee: it’s high quality. They support a local microroaster in Auburn area and the it’s all light roast (for those who care about high quality beans). This is THE pit stop on the way to or from Tahoe. Thank me later. Cheers mate🤙🏼

2022-04-01This place is incredible. Met the owners slinging beans at the Tahoe city farmers market and have been meaning to use it as a pit stop when driving up to the mountains...but after finally coming here its going to be a must-stop! Amazing indoor and outdoor seating, creative drinks, its fantastic.

2021-12-03On a weekend adventure up in Auburn and decided to stop by for an early afternoon coffee. Theyve got a spot in a beautiful building in old Auburn, with both upstairs and outdoor patio seating. They had a good selection of espresso drinks and an assortment of food options, although nothing too heavy. I ordered the drip coffee they brewed that day and my partner got a cortado. Both were delicious and hit the spot. The staff were friendly and the place was busy. No one was really in masks, including staff, but I believe the county either doesnt require it or enforce it. Otherwise the place was clean and they did a decent job managing the constant line. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area.

2022-02-08An aesthetic and thoughtfully decorated cafe. There are two stories with indoor seating, a big patio and a small balcony. I came in on a Sunday evening and the service was slow and all the tables were dirty and nobody had bussed the dishes. However, I think this was due to a staff shortage as the team seemed to be scrambling to service everybody. Overall, the avocado toast and coffee I got were great!

2022-06-13Cute atmosphere. Jokingly asked the employee what she would recommend if we were never going to be in the area again... she recommended espresso with one of their homemade syrup and gosh, we truly wished we lived in the area. Lavender was amazing as well as the espresso! The coin is 20$ and gets you happy hour permanently!

2022-05-02I had never heard of this place until I was in Auburn, yesterday. When the meeting I was in ended, my friend said they were going to grab a tea. She knew how much I loved coffee and suggest I join her.Im glad I did.I ordered a brown sugar cold brew and was blown away. The flavor profile the drink offered was wonderful. I grabbed a bag of beans (ironically called No Hands bland) to bring home. I just brewed a pot and WOW am I blown away. Well done, you guys! Youre on my list of places to visit when Im back in town.I will be back soon to get another cold brew from you while buying another bag of beans.Thank you!

2022-05-20I love the indoor aesthetic of this cafe. I also love that it had three floors and plenty of seating space. It’s a good place to sit and get some work done. The coffee and food was okay.

2022-05-22Pour Choice cares about what they do. Excellent espresso with plenty of thought behind the roast and eagerness to chat about it when you stop through; this shop means it with their beans. Catch them when theres music or pair your coffee with a nitro stout (the smores stout + spro was *chefs kiss*). An unbeatable indoor & outdoor space tops it off. Ill be happy to get the chance to come back.
