Honestly, I was confused. The meal started with a Mediterranean meatball, then a Cajun risotto. It was awkward to walk into. The dining room had 8 diners at 6:30pm. They stacked all customers on top of each other, even though there was plenty of seating. My risotto was bland and was all kind of one note. Could’ve really used some acid. The dessert was fine. I don’t understand putting a a whole leaf of mint as a garnish, it’s pointless. If you want mint in the dish then incorporate it. This should’ve been a great dining experience. Historic location with great ambiance, except no music to drown out some of the loud chewing from the other tables. That said, the bar seemed to be popping and I really regretted eating in the dining room
We came to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. Was very chill no one really there, staff was awesome and kind.3 stars for the food and chef, very disappointed. I had the lemon chicken came with mashed potatoes, zucchini and squash. Chicken only tasted like lemon, no salt, pepper or any other seasonings very very very bland. Nothing special about the dish. Boyfriend had the rainbow trout over risotto- he liked the trout but risotto was under cooked and also no flavor. Kind of a bummer because they weren’t busy at all so not sure why food came out the way it did. Won’t be back!
I loved it here!!! Forget all the reviews that are one star this place is anything but one star. The staff are amazing very welcoming the boat does a lack a bit of ventilation causing a bit of stuffiness but thats what comes with dining in a boat duh! The food is exquisite this is my 3erd time in a week and I must say it just gets better and better!!! The porkchop is to die for
Excellent service. We got a Delta King one night and dinner package. We requested for dinner time but didnt get confirmation on that. I had to call the day before if we have a reservation...I assume they didnt bother since it was Sunday night, pretty slow.Food were cooked just right, especially salmon. They asked how salmon to be cooked. Of course, rare for us...it was a sashimi grade. Pistachio tapanade on top was a great choice! Very talented executive chef, Julian!!!Will come back here even without one night stay.
Did not have a great experience with our meal but the manager and our server were so so kind. All of the workers I encountered were the nicest. Will be giving them another try because of this. Really appreciate how understanding the manager was with the issues we had with our food. Great way to run a restaurant. If the food is up to par next time then I would definitely give this place 5 stars!
Absolutely LOVED this place. COVID-safe as far as staff all wearing masks, customers wearing masks when walking around, outdoor seating, lots of breeze. The menu is small and direct, which is actually nice. In fact, the wine list is two pages while the menu is just one! Got an incredible seat outside with an unobstructed view of the water. Our waiter had a great temperament, was so knowledgeable about the menu, and made wonderful suggestions when we asked questions.Food was fantastic and portion sizes were right. Had the swordfish - done just perfectly. For how nice this meal was, there wasnt a wait and the price was perfect.
We wanted to love it.. but we couldnt. While the atmosphere was nice, the outside tables are old, chipped and water damaged and the deck was dirty. Our steaks were dry, cold and had NO flavor at all. Not even some salt or pepper... The potatoes were pretty good but the veggies were cold and mushy. The seafood linguini was very good. It was suppose to be the highlight of our day, and it was a big let down. The waiter was very nice and friendly, so he is not to blame. I think we will stick with Texas Roadhouse for steaks. Taste buds beware!
I made reservations for Saturday at 7.45pm. When i went in, i was not acknowledged for 10 minutes and when they did it was to tell me that they are running behind and a table will be available in 10 minutes. We got a table at 8.30pm. Outside on the deck in a dirty table with crumbs on it. No one offered to clean it either. Server took our drink orders. I ordered 3 teas and he came back with 2 cups of hot water and i reminded him of third but still wasn’t brought out. We jumped right onto entrees coz it was almost 9 already. Bread was served with no butter and we said we will wait but it never came. So we attacked the dry bread coz we were hungry. Food came in a little after 9.30 and by that time we were more annoyed than hungry. There is more but overall bad experience. I wanted to treat my family to a nice experience but it turned into frustration. Advise- please do not overbook. People come to these restaurants for an experience and considering the price per plate, its well deserved.
My wife and I went to the Pilothouse restaurant at the Delta King for her birthday. We really enjoyed the sunset view from the Delta King and Sacramento river. The wine and burger were really good so Im giving 4 star to that. The fish & chips Id give 3.5 stars. The staff were super nice and friendly and I give them 5 stars :)
Amazing experience... the boat itself is a unique experience but the restaurant and especially the staff are top notch. We made reservations for my mother’s 60th birthday brunch and had a great time. My grandmother has some mobility issues at 85 but the staff bent over backwards to accommodate her any way possible. They went well above and beyond to make us all feel very welcome and not like an inconvenience, and trust me... we were an inconvenience. The upstairs outdoor seating is very nice but if you have mobility issues the elevator only goes to the main dining room so keep that in mind. The main dining is very nice so it’s well worth the trade off. The food was very good, excellent plating, simple but quality menu and service was excellent. On top of all that, the price for meals was very acceptable in my opinion considering the quality of food and service. I can’t thank the manager, server and support team enough for making my mother’s birthday a special one!
We tried coming here during covid lockdowns and they dont allow people in the bar to sit along the river unless you had a reservation. OK, so today we tried making a reservation for lunch (now that restrictions are lifting) and the staff waited until we showed up and were standing outside waiting to call and tell us they gave away our table.Theres clearly a reason this place has tons of open tables while theres a 3 hour wait next door at Rio City. Shame because it used to be such a cool place to have a drink and watch the river.
We booked a table to entertain family from Australia based on the advertised special prime rib dinner. When we arrived we were informed they no longer offered that and blamed Google! The service was slow, and the atmosphere uncomfortably hot. The meal overall was not of the quality expected for the price. The so called Kobe burger was mediocre and tasteless (In-n-outs is way better), fries were mealy, salads were sparse and short on dressing. Overall not the American dining experience we had hoped for our guests.
From my experience, restaurants with a view typically have overpriced, terrible tasting food. In this case, I was proven half wrong! The food wasnt too expensive, but it sure was tasty! The fried calamari and smoked trout were very good. My boyfriend and I shared the Grilled Chicken Sandwich which was actually really moist and delicious, and the ciabatta bread was toasted to perfection. They even split the meal onto two separate plates for us! However, the cocktails SUCKED. Stick with beer or your basic well cocktails. Views and ambience are enjoyable. We also had to speak to the manager about replacing their flag because they only had a scrap of blue stars left hanging on the pole.
We went for a day trip to have dinner on the water, apparently our excitement level was set too high. Low quality steak and flavor on our $40 meals.. seasonal veggies included two small slivers of carrot, my boyfriend only received one on his dish.. we waited 45 mins before receiving our cold meal. When we requested a menu change from down stairs to upstairs hoping that the menu posted online was available, the waitress informed up in an unprofessional manner that those items were not available that the website hasn’t been updated in forever. So don’t get your site on anything posted online before arriving . Very disappointed with the service and food. We did really enjoy the uniqueness of the style and the fun of being on the water. Did not stay in a room.
We came here for my mothers birthday and made a previous reservation when we arrived we were told 10-15 minutes because our full party wasnt there, they were parking. They also let us know that our table was not ready. When the rest of our party arrived, they offered us a table for 5, even though our reservation was for 9. They also suggested we split into 2 tables even though we had a reservation. The hostess had a horrid attitude and continuously rolled her eyes at my mother. No appropriate solutions were provided so we decided to leave after receiving the phone number for the main manager. For a place with multiple awards for the past few years I expected better service. Eat here at your own risk. Reservations are not honored and respect is not given. They should consider a replacement for the hostess present on January 18th for the shift covering 8pm her attitude might turn tour customers away.
This is a nice place to take your significant other for a nice evening dinner. I would make reservations just in case but on the evening we went it wasnt too crowded. The food here is excellent. The chefs special which was fish was very well prepared and I even considered ordering a second helping before my fiancé gave me that look. She ordered the clam chowder bread bowl and finished it (which was quite surprising since its very rare that she finishes everything). The staff here were really nice. It is on a boat but it doesnt rock so for those of you worrying about getting motion sickness its all good. For taller people (over 6)beware you will feel like youre going to bump your head from time to time. They do have a bar upstairs if you wanted to get drinks after dinner and there is a parking garage down the street with $5 all day parking.
So my boyfriend and I decided to make a reservation here for our first anniversary, as soon as we got in, the place was warm and stuffy. I understand its an old boat, but that smell instantly turned me off. Not a way to start an anniversary dinner. It was warm inside and the weather outside was better, so we asked if theres an available seating outside and they said there is but its not shaded. Well...we didnt wanna be sweating under the sun out there so we stayed inside the musty, warm place. Then my boyfriend found an old yellow crumble between the fork, so he got up to the staff preparing the utensils and asked her for another one. As he handed over the fork and knife, she gave him an attitude and said, is that better???.She said it loud enough for me and other customers to hear from two tables down. And she gave him a look like were such high standard kind of people. No we arent, but anybody who finds an old food on their utensils would ask for replacement and thats a normal thing to do. And when we got our receipt, they charged us $8,$9 for our salad. I thought the salads were complimentary??? Because the way the waiter asked us is, do you like soup or salad with that?... gosh so we asked before paying and he stated that the salads were not complimentary and it says on the menu. The menu was two pages only, it shouldnt be easy to miss that information but their menu was unfamiliar so I spent a lot of time looking at them and picking out what to eat. But I think that was a tricky question because from other restaurants salads are complimentary, specially when you pay $20 for a dinner which includes two pieces of fried chicken, mashed potato and broccoli. I was so disappointed with Delta King, the customer service and the tricky ways to make you pay for your food. I do not recommend this place to anybody.
Absolutely love this restaurant. It has a high end class with only moderate prices. The food is delicious, the service excellent, and the atmosphere is not to be beat in all of Sacramento. They will even hold your dinner for you on fireworks holidays, so you can watch the display over the river at Raley Field. Very romantic and delightful experience.
Host was just sitting down stairs and told us to go up and seat ourselves. Service wasnt anything too great. Crab cakes were not good at all. I was very disappointed in the food quality. It may have four stars but is not worthy of all four. The view was the best part of the experience but other than that it was not very satisfactory. If you are looking for mediocre food and alright service than the Pilothouse is the place for you.
S.....L....O......O......W....... service. Dont believe the 4 stars!Four of us waiting and was forever to be noticed then get drinks; about 40 mins from order and no show of food so we left. But the place not busy, virtually no one else eating and about 5 servers doing do.rthing or other but not taking care of us. Inexplicable. We gave up and left-- just like the people before us.And having been interested in staying at the hotel and eating in the other theoretically better restaurant, we are no longer-- so a huge loss to the boat of around 500 bucks.Great view of river, but this place is only good for drinks. You better have all day if you want to eat.Management needs to spend time in the bar area to fix this. Thus is how places go bust -- you cant just rely on being on the river.
I like to go with friends to this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The meals are delicious and the team is generous and cooperative. always when we go to this place we enjoy a lovely time. warmly recommended.
The food always taste perfect! Whether it be for a romantic dinner with your significant other, or a nice lunch with the kiddos, it never disappoints. Love coming here during summer with my family for lunch. Enjoy the view of the river & get a sweet treat at old Sacramento candy stores or ice cream shops.
This could have been so cheesy and bland and instead it was amazing. Excellent (huge) salads, sandwiches were delicious, even the fried goodies were good---fish and chips and the calamari. You get all this in a historic setting ON the water. Skip the boardwalk in Old Town Sacramento and head to the riverside.
This is my second time at Delta King and it will be my LAST. They ruined my Mothers Day. My family from the bay had come to celebrate. When I made my reservation they had NOT informed me that is was a Buffet Type of event and the Price? So when I got to the front desk I asked them what was going on, your hostess was very rude. She was just trying to rush me. I told her I made a reservation but I didnt get the memo about being a buffet or the price. And she said she could not help me so I said I will need to cancel and I hope I will not be Charged for something that DELTA KING did not even inform me in the first place. I suggest you get better hostess and more helpful staff. I didnt get her name but I was very disappointed upset on Mothers Day. I had to change my whole plan with with all my family which where 8.

2022-02-18High cost meal failed to meet overall expectations.dining experience was reduced by poor, slow service.the food, Ribeye steak and Cajun linguini were delicious. they were also kind of pricey. the shrimp cocktail appetizer was nice too. the staff, although they we nice enough, werent very attentive, even though the place wasnt busy at all. we were left waiting way too long. After the meal we agreed to a dessert of lava cake. It took so very long we gave up and walked in and cancelled and just wanted the check to leave. the manager didnt seem to pleased and didnt even look me in the eye. if you choose to go there, make sure you get seated indoors, its much nicer. the outside seating was basic at best with basically lawn chairs at a small wobbly table.the experience just failed to make us feel like we made the right decision to go there. perhaps it was just an off day.

2022-02-04Came here to celebrate and our waitress was fantastic. We got the shrimp cocktail, pork chop and New York Steak. We where also treated to a lava cake (which was missing the lava but was still fantastic). When we where leaving at 7 on a Friday, a band was about to set up to play.

2022-06-21The experience of the location is what makes this place special. The food is nothing to write home about. Although my husbands pork chop was quite tasty, and the cheesecake was good, but notice how tiny the piece is. And my salmon was tiny, too. For $36 I want to have more than 5 bites of salmon. It wasnt seasoned much, either. The couscous had very little flavor. But it was fun being on an historic boat. And we enjoyed people watching on the river. We saw a lady dip her toe and fall in (she was pulled out and was fine,) a boat full of twerkers, tour boats, 20-somethings partying. And the staff were great and provided excellent service. But they do need to do something about the flies.

2021-10-05Well this was our first time eating here. It was by fluke because the first two places we were going to had over a two hour wait. We decided to check this place out, and our wait was maybe 10 minutes. With that being said, here we go!The Delta King is a big river boat. We had outside seating so the views were very nice. The chairs arent the most comfortable, so that could use some improvement. Our server was very nice and attentive to us. We started with the calamari. It was average but good. The dipping sauce made it nice because it had a little bite to it. We ordered the American Wagyu burger. Thick juicy patty with lettuce, tomato, pickle and red onion. They come dry so youll need to ask for mayo or whatever your heart desires. It was a very nice lunch with great weather and views of boats cruising by. Id like to try their dinner menu sometime. Definitely check it out.

2022-02-14We will never eat here again. I made reservations for outside seating weeks in advance and we were told there wasnt any available when we arrived. We mentioned this to our waiter, he found several open seats outside and let us move. The staff was all fairly nice but very unorganized and our waitress seemed to be stretched pretty thin. I ordered a pork chop and she asked how Id like it cooked... I thought she was joking so I said all the way When she brought it out it was completely raw in the middle... At this point we just asked for our check. The waitress said a manager would come talk to us, she returned within minutes with no manager and our check, I paid and we left. It bothered me so I called and spoke to a manager when we got home. He said he would try to reverse the charges for our drinks or more, he didnt... We are very easy going people who arent looking for freebies and rarely complain, but this place is pretty bad. So much for a nice valentines day dinner with my wife on the river.

2022-03-08The vet place was nice, cool unique experience and the server was ok a little over worked if you ask me. (Still tipped well)The food was very cold, bland, and the flavors did not mesh well together. We ordered steak meals and my med rare steak came out cold, dry, and tasteless. I was extremely surprised the absolute low quality food. Maybe it was an off day, but Applebee’s has a much better steak for $10 lol.I asked for a cocktail menu and they didn’t have one. The server said we have a full bar and we ca. Make anything! After a few drink suggestions…. They can’t make squat! So I order something common (mai tai). I kid you not it came out looking like soda and tastes like gasoline.I have been to some crumby places, but this was terrible. Once again to reiterate, our server was nice, funny, busy and the scenery was nice but. It the food or the $160 bill, was a mistake. I would never step foot on the river queen of my life depended on it.Note; save your money and go to any other restaurant than this one. Didn’t even take the leftovers home after 4 bites.

2022-06-19Menu hasn’t been updated on website for two years. Resturant closes at 4 pm and reopens at 5pm. So for one hour u can’t get any food from kitchen. They no longer have prime rib at all, which is the reason we made reservations. Shrimp cocktails are $19. For 5 small shrimp. We will never go back. Was suppposed to be a special event. We wanted to sit outside but was told no because people were taking pitchers. So we asked for a window table and was told none were available. We parked in valet and was told to validate our ticket that it would be free but when we went to claim our car we were told we owed $8. And had to be cash only. Take my advice and find another Resturant. Three of us ate lunch and total was $132. Worst tasting food ever. Associates were dressed sloppy. Especially the manager. I’m telling you do not eat here. I will be contacting chamber of commerce and the highest manager of the delta king I can and will be setting up a Yelp account to give my review on their website

2022-06-18The BEST hotel breakfast Ive probably ever experienced. The wait staff is wonderfully kind, the food is fabulous, and the action on the river was quite entertaining.

2019-02-13A historic boat with a hotel, theater and restaurant inside. I had the pleasure eating here. The views of the water and surrounding area was astounding. Get here for a sunset and be awed. The food was better than the view. The heirloom tomato side salad was oh so good and should be on every table. I love Cioppino it was great. The heavenly flourless chocolate cake was worth the cheat on my diet. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special date, don’t hesitate make reservation today.
