Great place to have weddings and events. Day of coordinator was awesome.
The Maxwell House was the perfect location for our wedding. Incredibly affordable for all the that they supply, and in an amazingly beautiful area in Pasadena. The event coordinator, Reid, was always so quick to respond to any email I sent and helped us in any way possible. The space inside and outside the venue is so unique for a wedding, which gave our guests the ability to go from one room to another and mingle and socialize. All rooms are filled with beautiful antique furniture, and the venue provides all the folding tables and chairs you would need. The history of the building is also interesting, and the fact that the proceeds went to a non-profit made us feel good as well. All our guests were amazed by the space and surprised by how inexpensive it all was. I would recommend The Maxwell House for any event in a heartbeat!
We recently hosted our Non-Profit Mothers Day event at the Maxwell House. They were so amazing to work with. Reid was very responsive and helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. The space was the perfect setting for our intimate event.
My husband and I toured numerous wedding venues and landed on The Maxwell House for multiple reasons: (1) The historic charm - each room tells a story, (2) The mission - Maxwell House houses Western Justice Center which offers impactful community programming, (3) Affordability (enough said), and (4) The ability to choose your own vendors.My husband and I had to postpone our wedding due to COVID-19 and Maxwell House worked with us to re-book for the following year. Their support and flexibility was hugely appreciated and helped ease the stress of re-planning a wedding. Additionally, Maxwell House is the perfect event space for people of diverse backgrounds. When my husband and I were touring venues, every single one had limitations on the food you could serve, the DJ you could hire, etc. As an Iranian-American, I was really disappointed that I wouldnt be able to hire vendors that reflected my culture and identity. Thank you Maxwell House for being the inclusive and understanding venue that you are!
The Maxwell House is such a lovely venue for any event. Rae, the event coordinator, was so professional, helpful, and easy to work with from start to finish. Its a beautiful and historic space with indoor and outdoor areas that allow for a great flow of guests. The staff made everything so easy for us. We especially liked that the proceeds of their events support a non-profit. All in all, a wonderful experience and I highly recommend!
Love this venue. My wife and I got married here, Reid and Melissa made our day amazing. Would recommend this venue to anyone else who is looking for a venue. Very unique and proceeds go to a good cause.
Beyond excited to have our wedding here on our 8th anniversary in January. This house is so elegant, classy, with a lot of artistic features. It gets better...all venue fees goes to an organization that gives back and helps those in need. We couldnt have found a better place. This is the city where we had our first date, and the historic area captured our hearts with out a doubt.
Fantastic place for a party! Beautiful old house. Good to the last drop! Exterior is super. Interior could use a little work. They have open houses approximately once a month. Their recommended vendors go and are available to discuss your party plans.
I was impressed with the Maxwell House, the inside was very, very clean and the grounds were well kept.Friendly street parking which was free.They had a Gender friendly restroom as well as a male and female restroom.I attended a party there and there was plenty of room for the guest to mingle and room for all of the tables and chairs as well as the food stations.

Had our wedding here. In general it was a great experience, but I tried to book cleaning through them before the event, they said they didnt do that. Then they charged us our full $400 deposit after the event for cleaning. They should just be upfront about it.

The venue was beautiful and the staff was great. We attended a wedding that combined both the ceremony and reception.Plenty of parking less than a block away and many photos opp locations!
Had our wedding here. Its an incredible venue and renting the space benefits an amazing non-profit. I truly cant recommend it enough ❤️

2022-06-28The Maxwell House and staff were fantastic! Their partnership and collaboration for this beautiful event for my Mother turned out lovely. There is no other place I could have imagined celebrating my Moms birthday.The Maxwell House is just exquisite! The teams guidance, planning support, and client portal kept me organized and prepared ahead of the event. The number of compliments received on the venue alone was amazing!!! This venue is truly one of the best historical spots in Pasadena.Rae, Stephanie, and staff were a treat to work with. They were awesome and ready to help me day of wherever needed!Thank you again for helping bring this joyous occasion to life! I cant wait to host my next event here!! If you have the opportunity to book here, go for it. You will not regret it!!

2022-05-19Beautiful venue for a wedding looking for a more intimate setting. The bride entered down stairs outside and the ceremony was outdoors. I would recommend it on a less than hot day for those wishing to book or an evening time when the sun is setting. They had a bar area, dance area, dining room and buffet room. They allowed my friend to place lights for personalization so they do allow some changes to the venue. Would definitely attend an event here again.

2021-12-30Im a photographer and so I visit and shoot at a lot of venues. The Maxwell House is a beautiful old house.CONS: The main hall gets very dark very fast. The house is small for a wedding venue, so moving around is difficult and youre really limited with who you can invite. Their covid measures are very restrictive (as of November 2021 you have to have a vaccination card to enter, no negative tests or anything else). Ive heard from couples that they are very strict with their rules.PROS: Very beautiful, historic old house. It had a nice, spacious getting ready area. Beautiful old windows upstairs for photographing details. The area around the venue is very photogenic and has a lot of little nooks and interesting architecture to photograph in. If you know how to use OCF, its a breeze to photograph.

2021-12-13YWCA Glendale and Pasadena held a special year end reception for our funders, program partners, and board members at the Maxwell House. What a beautiful space to bring our community together - the location is stunning, with in and outdoor options and the much sought after free parking! A nice perk is having a COVID compliance officer to ensure that all public safety protocols are being met, including checking for vaccination status or negative tests. This allowed us to provide a very safe and welcoming environment for all. Working with the Maxwell Houses events team made everything seamless, smooth, and turn key. We plan to continue hosting events here as you would be hard pressed to find another venue like this in Pasadena!

2022-07-05Situated right off a nearby freeway, the Maxwell House is extremely accessible and an absolutely gorgeous venue. When me and my wife were looking for venues for our wedding, we ultimately landed on this one due to price, location, and the beauty and potential the venue had for hosting our type of event. A big selling point was that a majority of the fees go towards the Western Justice Center, a non-profit that grows and teaches conflict resolution skills in youth and educators and whose offices are inside this historic venue. The building itself is just full of beautiful little locations, from the lovely patio out back, to the warm and inviting interiors and grand staircase. They have quite a number of rental furniture and that comes with the fee of your wedding package that really helps cut down costs of having to chase down and find tables and chairs. The way they set up events also allows you come in a day before to set up, decorate, and have rehearsal so that on the day of your event things are mostly done and prepared for you. But, we did have one issue that we encountered that is hard for us to ignore, which was that due to a scheduling system change, our original requested day was double-booked. Now, Im sure its a rare occurrence and we were just unlucky, but it did hurt in the moment. However, the crew at the Maxwell House did everything they could to correct things and thats why Ive decided to rate them so highly despite that. We still had a wonderful wedding and a brilliant day and were still happy that weve had it here. Theres so many positive aspects to this venue, to the kind hearts working there, the excellent vendor list, and the location itself, that I recommend you check out one of their Open Houses to experience the possibilities for yourself!
