One of the best dinners I have had in my life! Great concept of interactive kitchen with charismatic exec Chef and team. Quite an adventure for the full course meal in 4 hours.Started strong with the appetizer, rich, smooth silky texture with different layers of flavor. Then you get a rich and perfectly baked pastry with buffalo cheese, although felt slightly like a cheese wonton haha. The best dish of the night is the Japanese Pumpkin infused ravioli with truffle sauce and fresh truffle on top... Just the pinnacle of melting mouth feel combined with umami. The intermission ceviche and oysters are also amazing. Followed with a solid and tender scallop in pecan butter. Yet, it felt a bit overpowering with its flavoring. Could use a bit subtlety. Then you got the good old short rib slow cooked to tenderness. Nothing fancy but familiar comfort. Finally, the dessert was spectacular and complex: pear with tea infuse, white chocolate with sesame oil, candied almond and more all in one dish! We were also served addition cream puff, chocolate truffle and fresh cookies in case you crave for more calorie~We had mocktail pairing and they were super considerate for my wifes dietary restrictions with substitutions. All in all, great experience for the occasion and worth the price tag~
Absolutely an amazing experience! We have been wanting to come for year and decided 2021 was the time to check if off our bucket list and now make it a tradition!Service was incredible and food was to die for! Definitely cant wait to EXPERIENCE this again! This is truly an experience, not just eating a meal. For the Exec Chef walking you through the meals, to the staff continuing you foodie education.I simply cant wait to go back!
This is a fancy expensive place, but you get a lot for your money, given that you get seconds, and thirds of exquisite dishes... with a catch. If you like something, ask for more right away or it may run out. It is a single seating for all per night. Once they close the doors, everyone inside becomes part of a big 4-hour culinary extravaganza. Feel free to roam around in the kitchen to see how the dishes are being prepared. Indeed, a very unique restaurant.
This is the food experience you’ve been wanting you’re whole life. The staff and chefs are entertaining, the food is unbelievably good and the experience is hands down amazing. The menu changes, but the quality and flavor is always top notch. If you haven’t experienced the Kitchen, make your reservation today!!
We brought our ten year old granddaughter to allow her to experience what chefs need to do to mantain the quality and reputation of a well reknowned restaurant in the Sacramento area. She loved the food and atmosphere. The staff let her help and she was in her element. Oh yea, the food was special and lived up to its reputation.
Truly an unique and wonderful dining experience! Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about everything they served that night. I went here to celebrate my one year anniversary and all the staff knew which made it that extra bit special. Just a warning to you first timers, YOU WILL BE STUFFED. The head chef Kelly is a wonderful character that made that night amazing and fun! And congratulations on the well-deserved (and long overdue) Michelin star!
I’ve been to a small handful of Michelin starred restaurants now. This one took two years of trying on and off to get into. After a long wait, I finally had my first Kitchen experience this weekend. And an experience it was! Most prefix menus feel long and I’m exhausted by the end. There was so much going on the entire duration of the evening that I was entertained the full time. Watching the preparation of everything was very entertaining. The evening felt easy and stress free, being able to meander through the outdoor area, the back kitchen, essentially wherever you please. Awesome experience. Worth the wait!
Took my wife here as a surprise for our first anniversary. Immediately, we were greeted by the attentive staff. We were told that the restaurant was our home for the evening and we could walk anywhere we chose. Walk-in fridge... Go for it. Heck, theres cookie dough and oysters. We were told to have as many as we would like. When you walk in, you are treated like Kings and queens. The food is absolutely amazing. The executive chef and his team are there to ensure you have the greatest dining experience of your life. Although it is so expensive itll make your toes curl, it is incredibly worth it for that special someone, on that special night.I cannot wait to go back.
Well it was the first night of their February menu and what a menu it was. The Kitchen truly is a culinary experience unlike any other. As a customer you do feel like you have all the power as you are free to go anywhere you like and make an assortment of unusual requests. We started out the evening by ordering the wine pairing at the advice of the resident sommelier. They did a tremendous job as each of the pairings complemented their respective dish very well. Be sure to try the Four Roses Bourbon during intermission as well. A hand picked barrel shared between this restaurant and their sister restaurant Ella. The food was exceptional. The portions were small which gave you ample ability to devour all the extra treats available. It really felt like you could have whatever you wanted. You could also order as much as you want of each dish. If you liked the scallops you could just have an entire other plate which we saw many people do. This place is a must visit in Sacramento. Just make sure you book your reservation well in advance.
I have eaten here before and it never disappoint. Check it out now and you will find that they have earned a Michelin star and is the first restaurant in sacramento to do so. Last time I went I was celebrating an anniversary but this time was to attend a wedding. When you first pull up, you may be disappointed. It is right next to a coin-OP laundry facility and the head chef even pokes fun at that. The outside isnt really decorated at all and if you did not know, you would probably drive right by it. When you park your car there are signs everywhere to not leave valuables in the car so the mood is a little uneasy from the beginning. However, there is a rent a cop walking around the parking lot while staring at his cellphone to assure you are safe. You will find a door with a few plants near it and when you go inside you will be welcomed with an extraordinary experience. The decor is a dark palette and dimly lit. There are fresh flowers a d seasonal decorations to accent the facility. The kitchen is right in the middle so you can see a bunch of stuff going on. When you first arrive you will be greeted with small appetizers to set the mood. You can order drinks and discuss any dietary concerns, preferences or allergies. They will accommodate everything and give you extra portions or cook up something on special request. The outside patio is small but elegant and is decorated with an assortment of plants along side a fire place. You can enjoy drinks and oysters while you wait for the courses.Once service is about to start, the head chef comes out and introduces his staff and lays out the events for the evening. He explains that you can cook and participate and treat the restaurant like it is your friends house. He means it to! The bride got to put on a little cooking demonstration and a more in depth tour of the kitchen and the back area was given. The food is great... needless to say. I dont know if it was this specific menu this time around, or if I am biased, but I preferred the quality and quantity of food before they got the Michelin star. But the food will amaze either way. Maybe there menu was altered and/or shortened to accommodate a wedding party. Last time I went I could barely finish all the courses and this time I requested a bunch of extra food. Either way, the food is amazing. This place isnt like other Michelin star restaurants. It is about the experience as well as the food. A more relaxed experience. They encourage you to eat with your hands or however you deem fit. They want to make sure everyone is full at the end and encourage you to order more at no extra cost. They only serve one thing... but will take all your dietary preferences and allergies into consideration to make sure you have an enjoyable experience. They even made a keto menu for some people in our group. They encourage you to be loud and boisterous and socialize. It is fun. I recommend it to all.
To say that this place is incredible would be an understatement. Having worked in hospitality for 23 years, I know that the seamless execution of every moment takes skill and a level of service many places lack. Every course was delicious. The portions were generous. But, most of all, the people who work in this establishment leave it all on the table so to say with their passion for the craft. Bravo!
A Dinner at the Kitchen is worth Every. Single. Penny. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and FUN. People are encouraged to walk around the ENTIRE place including the kitchen and walk in fridge. There is nothing that is off limits for you to taste and you are welcome to as much as you want. If there is a course that you want more of, they will be happy to bring you another plate. The food is unique, fresh, delicious and very beautiful. I cannot wait to go again!
This is a must-have experience. If you dont have it on your bucket list, get it there. We waiting 3 months got a reservation but it was totally worth it. You can walk around the kitchen, chat with the staff, even get up and help cook if you want... And the food was top notch. It was my first time having oysters and muscles and I wasnt disappointed.
The food isnt just good, its amazing. Itll far exceed any restaurant in town. The experience is very different; one menu, one seating time, as much food as you want, any way you want it. I recommend it to anyone who wants to make the most out of a date night, or really any celebration, and treat themselves to some of the best food theyll ever have. Enjoy!
There isnt much I can say that hasnt been said. The meal was amazing, the service is amazing and the show is fantastic. I think for me the best thing however is having probably the best meal in my life in such a fun relaxed atmosphere. If the event is right and you can afford it, it is completely worth the time and investment.
We were here to celebrate an anniversary and it was fabulous. Word to the wise: be prepared for a lot of food, so pace yourself. Youre going to be eating for 4 hours. You heard me right. Four hours. Its a 5 course meal people. The food was just delicious and our chef/MC was funny. Some reviewers complained that they try to upsell you, but cmon. Its a restaurant. They always try to upsell you with drinks. Thats how they make their tip. I appreciated that they werent pushy about it. Just get what you want to drink. And try all the snacks. The night we went, they had these fried olives that were just amazing. They also did some small bites and one was like a Vietnamese summer roll. DELICIOUS. Everything was delicious.
The rating is for their reservation system. Conflicting instructions and policy. Confirmed, confirmation denied, then confirmed again. Making a reservation took 2 days , 3 emails, and 3 phone calls. Their food may rate a Michelin star, but their reservation system sure doesnt. Pretty shabby for a class establishment.
What a fantastic experience! If you want the best food ever, to be completely pampered by staff, enjoy the greatest wine and/or cocktail pairing meal with a huge amount of fun from the chef...this is where to be!It may have been our first time, but will not be our last! Thanks to everyone from The Kitchen for literally the best meal and night out and service we have ever had!
What a PHENOMENAL experience! This restaurant is like a dinner and a show, where the show is the goings-on of a kitchen in full swing. You dont get to just watch the chefs prepare your pre-fixe meals, you get to walk through and around the kitchen and watch them prepare your meals! All of the staff from the dishwasher all the way up to the general manager are friendly, personable, and willing to answer any questions you may have. Their menu changes monthly and everything is absolutely delicious. Their sommelier creates two wine pairing lists that accompany each dish or if youd like something else or a whiskey pairing, you know you can trust his choices will be perfect with each dish. Be warned, this dinner is reservation only, a deposit must be made, and the dinners are pricey. But I believe the whole experience is very much worth it. Did I mention that you can order as much as you want from the menu?! If you love a particular dish, you can keep asking for more! In addition, in the very beginning of dinner as well as the intermission they create little dishes for you to enjoy in the kitchen. You will not walk out hungry or wishing you had more food, guaranteed!! Unfortunately, I only remembered to take the one picture of their seared scallop, but this gives you an idea of the talent and perfection that goes into each dish. Yes, its a small bite, but like I said, you can order as much as you want.
If dining forv3 to 4 hours is your thing. If gourmet food, preperation and presention is an intrest then, The Kitchen is the restaurant for you. Expect a 6 to 10 month wait list. And if you have to ask the price then its most likely to expensive for you. This a started Michelin restaurant ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE even just once, live and be HAPPY.
Hands down the most unreal dining experience ever. Every course was incredible to taste and beautiful to see. I would highly recommend the wine pairing with dinner. The chef was entertaining, the staff was great, the kitchen was spotless. If you get the opportunity- go.
Our friends made reservations and we paid in advance since we had more than 6 people. We were very excited. Unfortunately, I became very sick and was not able to go. I called to see if there was anything they could do. A gift card something so we wouldnt lose $408. Nope. Nothing. No refund no matter what. I really thought they would do the right thing since this was an unforseen circumstance. They got paid and we didnt go. We are very disappointed and will not dine there.
Definitely somehere everyone should eat at just to understand the value of quality food and a great dining experience.Eat something you find amazing...ask for 3 more of it..not a problem. Its just the type of place Sacramento needs. I cant give high enough praises. Awesome service, knowledgeable and super friendly staff, and high quality food. I cant imagine anyone not having an amazing night there. You must check it out. Be sure to also check out Sellands, Ella and Obo all are excellent restaurants!!!
Horrible food. found a whole tuff of hair in food and everything was raw. My salad was made with unwashed spoiled vegetables, the soup had strange meat floating in it, and the little cakes stank. Floor was sticky and chairs were ALL broken. my cousin got food poisoning after she told the staff she was allergic to nuts but her salad had a type of nut oil in it. RIP Suzie💔💔
This is a wonderful dining experience. Unlike all other traditional restaurants the staff is very interactive with everyone. There are announcements from the chefs, visit to the cooking area and so much showmanship which we just loved. The food is excellant, a 7 course meal served in stages. None of the course are large so you will there is room for every course and you will not feel stuffed. A pricey evening but weel woth it for a special occasion.
I heard about the great food, but had no idea what a total experience it would be. Well worth the 4 hours spent due to the entertainment of chef Kelly and the staff to go along with the food and wine. Its worth the long wait for a reservation. One of the best dining experiences Ive ever had, and Im sure without the Covid restrictions would be even better.
The place is an experience if you are looking for the normal elegant fine-dining experience than you are in the wrong place. However, if you want great food and an experience like never before than this place is gold. The food is amazing and vibrant. You are constantly talking to the ecstatic chefs and waiters. Overall, 4/5 stars from me which is great.
This is a one of a kind dining experience. A foodie who loves fine dining this food was some of the best ever experienced. Not only is the food worthy of its Michelin rating, the way the meal is presented is super unique. You have an opportunity to be in the kitchen along side the chefs and servers watching the preparation, ask questions, observe plate presentations and watch table service. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly yet non intrusive to the whole experience. Worth every dollar spent.
This was our second visit to The Kitchen and it was again and fabulously delicious and entertaining experience. From the start there are so many things happening up front, on the side, in the prep area and out on the patio.. all relating to a gourmet meal!! Totally worth the experience!!

Do you ever go to a place, and after taking the whole experience in, all you can do is say Bruh.....? Thats here. The people are incredible, the food is spectacular, and even if there may be a food you dont like, they somehow make it taste amazing. This is a place you must visit in your lifetime.
Wow! What an experience. Its basically dinner theatre, but with some of the highest levels of cuisine youll find. The staff are warm and welcoming and cant do enough for you and seem genuinely interested to chat. The food is a seasonal delight. Great balance, flavours and range. The best tip I can give is to not fill up on the bread and nibbles at the beginning. And go and ready oysters in the chiller!
I know there are already wonderful reviews of The Kitchen but I just have to add my 2 pennies worth of how I feel about this hidden away gem of a restaurant. Everything positive I have read about The Kitchen reached above and beyond what I was expecting. The service was efficient, friendly and warm, the food was just sensational, flavours produced from a chef who knew what she was doing and we just felt it was made with love and no formula, it was thoughtful, well balanced and tasty Even their local Trappist style Penryn lager was delicious! We just went out for lunch and we were not expecting to be so blissfully surprised.
Been to dozens of Thai restaurants including numerous in Sac. Every one has a little different style. In our party we ordered Tom Kah soup, Green curry, a basil dish & Chicken with vegetables. The soup was excellent as was the basil dish with just a good amount of kick. The chicken was average with a type of peanut sauce that wasnt overly sweet. Ive had much better Green curry - this one has little spice. Was very surprised to see Fried Chicken and Sweet potato fries on the appetizer menu but no Satay. Service was quick. Music is a bit noisy and not really pleasant. Prices are bargain considering serving size
Food poisoning 😭😷 my family really enjoyed our experience for dinner. Until the next day when we experienced some of the worst food poisoning possible. When we called we were told that they had served a fish that is known to cause upset stomachs. We really hope that the health department takes a deep look into what is being served here. The Kitchen comes across as a nice restaurant offering a memorable experience but the only thing that we will remember is how sick we are. Please reconsider If you plan to eat here. There are many better restaurants in the area that you won’t walk away feeling like death.
Dining at the Kitchen is an experience! As a foodie, I am astounded by their attention to detail and the consistent high quality and creativity of their food. Part show, part meal, you will not leave hungry. Did you especially like one of the courses? Ask for more. Pricey, but well worth it!
From the beginning to the end, this was a fabulous experience! Be sure to come extremely hungry because there is a lot to eat. The experience is amazing, the Chefs are Fantastic. The food is divine. You must go! Reserve a long time in advance, and be prepared for the bill $$$$- but well worth it.
If you are really into great food and great cooking, you MUST experience The Kitchen. I have been there twice with friends, and each time has been an amazing treat. Yes, it is expensive, but again, if you are into food and appreciate great great great ingredients, a creative and complex menu, and a look into the actual cooking of these foods (behind the scenes but up front) then its for you. Menus change monthly, according to availability/ suitability of the season.
One of the most amazing dining experiences Ive ever had. The food was great but the staff and environment were truly extraordinary. There are breaks in the multi-course menu for you to explore their kitchen, eat additional small bites, and interact with staff. They even let my wife cook a piece of halibut on their stove. A must try in Sacramento.

This is not just a restaurant, it is an experience. Its like being welcomed into the kitchen of an old friend who has invited you to dinner, except that most of your old friends probably dont prepare food as wonderful as this. The main dishes offer a journey of different flavor combinations employed in ways that make seasonal ingredients really shine. The chef serves up his course descriptions with a generous side of humor. All of the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. It is perfect for a special occasion or to just treat yourself every once in a while.
I took our parents for a celebration dinner and we ate like kings. There was something for all of us, from the pickiest eater to the most adventurous. The wines are all wonderful but the signature cocktails are a must (and if you dont like the offerings, theyll invent something for you!) The food is divine. I hope to go once a year at least, which may be harder to do now that they have their Michelin Star.

We went to the Kitchen for my birthday on March 21st. At 1st glance on their web, I thought we would be served a light, but delicious meal I could not be more wrong! We had sumptuous food served to us from the moment we stepped in at 6:30 all the way to the end of the evening 10:30 pm! The evening was an experience - from the way the Executive Chef informed & entertained us about the food, ingredients to eating each intricately prepared dish that was beyond delicious~ It was the best night ever! Loved it all!

I had the privilege of eating here last night. The food was absolutely extraordinary. Hands down one of the best meals Ive ever eaten in Sacramento. The staff was exceptional, especially the somelliers Shane and Collin, and Chef Diego. I already called today for my next reservation!
Be prepared for a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure like no other. From the moment the door closes you know youre in for a treat. Visit the chefs, help them cook, taste dishes as they are being prepared, and become part of the show. Dietary restrictions are no problem and the chefs and staff are so accommodating. I recommend a visit at least once in your lifetime.
Went there last night. If I were sentenced to death, this would be what I would request for my last meal. The food was amazing, the staff superb and the atmosphere light and fun. Wonderful dining experience. The bill can resemble a small house payment but it was definitely worth it.
Fantastic and unique experience ....walking in the kitchen tasting food before we even sat down to eat was a real treat. At one point I had a glass of champers an oyster and a cookie dough ball!!! Definately high end cost ($$$$$) but we went all out. Staff were awesome and relaxed...but very efficient.
I love this place. We go hear every year for our anniversary and have never had a bad experience. It is a fine dining restaurant experience unlike any other. There is a set menu of 6 courses that rotates monthly using the freshest locally sourced ingredients. The special twist is that its all you can eat. You heard that right, all you can eat fine dining. You want to try a course again? Do it, you want to try just one of the ingredients from a dish on its own, do that too. Hell, you feel like you want something special, maybe a memory from your childhood, or you favorite dish? You can ask. And theyll even attempt to make a version of it on the fly. In the past, Ive had BLTs, Mac & Cheese, Peanut Butter & jellys, and more. On this last visit, I special ordered some Garlic Fries, and sure enough they were incredible. The alcohol selection is also very good, whether you like sake, scotch, wine or beer. The service is as good as it gets, everyone is super nice, and they all have personality too. The price is high, as it should be for fine dining, but its worth it IMO. The price is $175 per person. But seriously, you wanna splurge? Go there, you can make reservations typically in as little as 2-3 weeks out.
I cant even begin to tell you guys how amazing this place is! If youre looking for perfect quality food at a high-end classy restaurant, this is the place to go. Absolutely esquisite! The staff was also very friendly and knowledgable. They were helpful and attentive. Definitely very pricey, so obviously not for everyone, but if you dont mind spending a good extra money on the best quality food, then I can assure you that you wont regret it!
This is dinner theater. Not the murder mystery type but a whole presentation spectacle that includes the whole staff. Make sure to request a seat at the bar so you can watch up close. Food is OUTSTANDING. You might want to eat lightly, if not fast the day of. You have the run if the place. You want more of something, ask. Unless you are a bottomless pit, you might not want to though. The amount served is more than enough and you want to make it through to the end. Pure gluttony in the best way.
I saw on March 15, as well as can not truly believe of anything else to claim regarding this experience that hasnt been claimed before. I recognize you do not come to be inexpensive at a supper right here, but I didnt believe the pairings actually brought anything more to the meal for my therapeutic scheme than if I had actually just obtained a glass of wine or we had a container of red wine to share. That being stated, there are a great deal of testimonials here encouraging the pairing yet for me it was simply also much as well as I was currently really feeling so full!
Another fabulous meal! I cant believe its been 20 years since we last visited this place - long overdue! Our night was great from the moment we pulled into the parking lot! Food was awesome and the staff were outstanding. Chef Kelly, Gio, Eric, Scooter, Shane, Amy, and all the rest of the staff rocked it! If you havent visited yet, youre missing out!
I have visited the Kitchen several times over the past 7 years. My most recent visit was disappointing and my experience was echoed by other members of my party. Unless you participated the the wine flight, it was challenging to get drinks. Everyone agreed that the quality and presentation of the courses does not match years past. For a bill well north of $600 for a couple, it was a great disappointment.
I used to do company events here. While the food was fantastic and service amazing, I was appalled at the lack of social skills training of one of the kitchen staff. I’m definitely not a large woman, but was wearing a long silk smock and modest leggings when I asked for seconds of one thing I really liked, while avoiding a more pricy food I knew I did not, I was asked if I was eating for two. I said yes because reality was my colleague, also a Director for a health care company, asked me to pick up some extra for him to try because I raved about the item. It was rather embarrassing as I’m well past an age where the team member should have known I’m not expecting. This was a couple of years ago, so hopefully someone had the courage to provide feedback to him directly, I did not as I’d never experienced that before.
You pay more for the experience than the food. The first two courses were amazing... However the the fish was bland and the lamb rack was full of fat. I dont think I would come back here for the price, so many other places that are cheaper that have more favorable and delicious food
Our favorite way to splurge. Weve been three times and The Kitchen does not disappoint. Chef Cowan and the gang put on a fantastic show while serving Sacramentos best food. We love mixing with the cooks, nibbling on the prep work, and hearing all about the places where they source ingredients. If you love something, theyll have bring you seconds or thirds. If you dont love a course, theyll make it another way for you. They knock it out of the park every time. Come hungry. Prepare to spend hours there. Its an experience.
I cant begin to express how amazing an experience this was. The service, the people who worked here, all are amazing people who take pride in their work. This is not just dinner, its an experience, almost like a cooking show happening right in front of you. All I have to say is WOW. Thank you Kitchen staff. Ill be back again someday
As rookies to The Kitchen, we would say, The Kitchen absolutely lives up to the hype. From the moment you walk-in the door the entire staff is sure to great you by NAME and makes sure to encourage you to have a great time. The evening starts out with some wandering of the kitchen where you’re sure to encounter the amazing kitchen staff who are all willing to stop what their doing and share about the food. Sous chef Gio makes the absolutely best sushi and liver pate and if you’re early enough, you can catch a glimpse of his skills. As the evening begins, Chef McCown welcomes the guests and describes the courses in detail. The attention to quality and local craft as well as ingredients is nothing short of amazing. As Chef and his team start the courses off, you become absolutely mesmerized by the work off art called “cooking”. The symphony of work would amaze even the most keen of the art. The staff continues to overwhelm you throughout the night with impeccable service and offers of “more”. After two courses, intermission takes over where you have 30 minutes of recovery; it’s a kind of hangover recovery where you treat your symptoms with more amazing food. Be sure to escape to the outdoor oyster bar and don’t miss the aforementioned sushi and pate in the kitchen. The experience resumes with the main entrees in which your palate is sure to continue on its way to the ultimate climatic experience yet. The evening concludes with a desert and “side-car” of delectable goodies. Overall, the best all around dining experience we’ve ever had; and we’ve been to the “laundry”, “hell” and other top renowned restaurants. Only critique would be to go with a bottle (or two) of wine and skip the parring. Although wonderfully paired, the pours are anything but gracious. Several courses left us wanted more vino to go with the fireworks happening in our mouths with the food. Highly recommend Chef McCown and The Kitchen; we will definitely be back...
Just before Christmas (December 23, 2017) we visited The Kitchen and I wrote a review titled Once in a Lifetime Experience. Little did I know that I would get yet another chance to experience the true entertainment value The Kitchen provides for its patrons. Tonight there were approximately 70 people there ranging in age from probably 10years old up to a couple in their mid-70s. To our surprise, a show of patron hands revealed only about 10 or so that were first timers; otherwise the vast majority of them were repeats. I could clearly stop my review now; what else can you say about a place that is a sell out every night of the week, and boasts having a repeat customer base in the mid 80 plus % range.
Wonderful service! If you are not a foodie, they are totally approachable and friendly. If you are a foodie you will not believe how attentive and accessible the chefs and staff are. They let you poke around their kitchen, wine cellar, etc.Well seasoned delightful dishes. Just so good and fresh from the farm, they lay out all the goodies on the tables so you can see the heirloom tomatoes and other produce going into the food. They even let me take home some torpedo onions and advised me to put it in salad, I had never seen those before.
After all these years The Firehouse still manages to delivery an excellent dining experience. We were there to celebrate the new year and they had a $125 prix fixe menu... about 3 choices per course. We were a group of 10 so ordered everything available that day and every dish from the lamb cheek and pork belly appetizers to the...
OMG the most amazing place you will ever go. I was fortunate to be a guest of an event at this place and was absolutely blown away by not only the incrediblely delicious food and wine pairings but the freedom and transparency of the kitchen staff. Walk around the kitchen, explore the fine art of culinary expertise and bombard your host with questions that get answered with wisdom beyond imagination. An absolutely delightful experience and well worth the price for a memorable local getaway from the daily grind. Highly recommended... GO!
We made reservations months in advance and got lucky enough to do this with my husband. This is a blow your mind experience. Its not just some fancy dining where youre excited theres a Taco Bell next door because you seen the portions of the food you get in photos on YELP.
Last night, my husband and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary at the Kitchen. We both had a memorable dining experience. Certainly, it was a life time experience to splurge on the expensive dinner and wines. At the restaurant, they change their menu every month. And they use high quality and fresh ingredients. They make everything from scratch. Be prepared to spend at least 4 hours here. The executive chef Kelly does captivate the audience with hes energetic loud tone, sense of humor and food. Overall, its an awesome experience. I would totally recommend this restaurant for date nights. Each dish was prepared and presented beautifully. If you have dietary restrictions, let them know. Theyll customize the meal to your needs and wants. And dont be shy to ask for seconds here. They encourage you to ask them.My husband and I enjoyed walking at the back of the kitchen, wine cellars and patio. We sampled their freshly made bread, oysters, and sorbets. It was an awesome experience talking with the chefs there. Try not to over eat because they have lots of food. Be prepared to eat over 2000 calories. During the intermission you dont get any break. That means you get to fuel your body with more delicious food.. They have stations in the patio and kitchen where you can try their exquisite hors doeuvresI loved the fresh yellow flowers.I forgot to mention, they have excellent service in the restaurant.FYI----- This restaurant is $$$$ sign. Although its pricey but worth every penny to dine here.Few years ago, there was an Iron Chef competition between Elizabeth Falkner and Geoffrey. And Elizabeths sou chef in the finale Allyson Harvie works at the Kitchen.
Their early May menu, as expected, was phenomenal. We had lobster cake, ravioli, barramundi, rack of lamb, and huckleberry and rhubarb crumble. Clean plates all around for each course, and if we werent so stuffed after dessert, we wouldve asked for seconds of either the ravioli or the lobster cake.
What can I saw about The Kitchen that hasnt already been said? We had such an AMAZING time here! Everything was just about perfect, loved some of courses more than others, but the highlights of the January menu to me where the beef bourguignon as well as the Upside Down Meyer Lemon Mascarpone Cheesecake! AMAZING! There is so much more I could mention, but honestly, the staff and service you receive here is just as great as the food. You will not find a better or more fun dinning experience in Sacramento.
A dining experience that lasts hours and is truly memorable. Multi-course, small plate dinner with unlimited plates of any of the courses. Being able to walk through the kitchen and see all aspects of the production and sometimes get hands on in the process is one of the reasons The Kitchen stands out from any other restaurant Ive been to. Loved getting to hear the origin of each main ingredient featured in the dishes!
This evening was a totally unique culinary and theatrical experience - expensive but totally worth every penny - don’t scrimp - go for the wine pairing or a good bottle of wine - the food is wonderful ( prepare to eat more than normal! Or in other words skip lunch the day you go!)The best part is the service -,if there’s something you don’t like they will fix you something else - if you really really like a dish they will give you a second helping - I went home with a recipe AND a take home container of my favorite soup. Honestly do not miss the chance to experience The Kitchen!!
You dont go to the Kitchen just to eat. You go there to be entertained. The menu changes monthly. You feel like you are at your friends house with access to the whole kitchen. There are multiple courses with intermissions to get more food. You will not leave this place hungry. You can repeat any course. In the last 8 years they have had 3 different chiefs. The most recent chief much more entertaining than the last one. A little spastic. Can take a clue from one the original chiefs, Noah, and drink while working 😀.
Fabulous food and entertaining chef - dinner and a show, truly a whole dining experience. Best restaurant in the Sacramento area! The sommelier is awesome, knows a TON about wine as well as beer and spirits. Reserve space early as they are booked up months in advance.
Absolutely the best food Ive had. Every bite was a delight and with the wine pairing the food was as close to perfection as you can get. And the service was excellent. BUT -- The show was annoying on our more recent visit because theyve changed ringmasters. The owner is now running the show and while hes obviously a knowledgeable businessman and chef, hes a very poor host. One problem is that there were several offensive jokes and comments. (Even though we happened to agree with his political and religious views, several people were clearly offended because they did not, and any polite person should know better than to go there in this kind of party setting anyway.) Moreover, he was border-line narcissistic -- way too full of himself, way too loud, and way too opinionated. On top of that, he sort of bragged that the guests could have seconds, but then complained when too many took him up on it; invited everyone to have tea but complained that so many ordered tea that it was slowing down the proceedings; and so forth. The previous host/chef was a delight; this guy was a pain. Still, well probably go back, but I might take ear plugs next time (or better yet, hope for a replacement host). Whether you agree with the above or not, heres a tip, no pun intended: The gratuity is included and they dont tell you except in fairly small print on the bill. If youre the type to pay in cash you might not discover until the next morning (if ever) that you left a redundant tip. I saw the bill for $602 for my wife and me (I could read that part without putting on my glasses), pulled out that cash plus a $120 tip, and left, not knowing the tip had already been included. Considering that we listened to that guy babble on and on about everything from the price of truffles to the correct length of lobster antennae, youd think theyd mention somewhere that the gratuity is included. Unless, of course, keeping it somewhat secret is part of the plan -- they do have to pay for their precious truffles, after all.
What a unique dining experience. A multi-course seasonal meal with intermissions where you walk around into the kitchen, patio or wine cellar and explore and nibble on things being prepared. Even sometimes they put you to work. A great place for any foodie to attend.
The husband & I have wanted to book a table since moving to Sac over 3 years ago but reservations and scheduling conflicts thwarted us until last Sunday. WoW- whod have thought we have such an amazing restaurant nestled across from Crunch Gym , Ross & Marshalls strip mall! Everything from the warm welcome upon arriving until we were shaking hands with the front of house manager with full bellies was amazing. We celebrated our anniversary along with the couples on our right and left- this is the place to come for super special date nights. We were seated along the open kitchen counter where we enjoyed the wonderful view of the meal preparation & plating. Chef David Chavez was passionate and convivial as he explained how they source and incorporate local, top quality ingredients into the most delectable creations. Both my husband and I enjoyed this indulgent night out and eagerly await the opportunity to revisit The Kitchen.
Totally unique and amazing experience - I plan to be back for more of the Caligula of food as soon as possible. Chef Kelly McCown & Chef de Cuisine Allyson Harvie are an unbelievable one two punch of entertainment and never-ending, delicious food. Their staff exudes charm and excellent, yet seemingly effortless service.
The most unique dining experience in Sacramento. Tucked away in an unassuming corner next to a strip mall, The Kitchen offers farm to fork cuisine in a lively atmosphere. You can walk the kitchen, talk to the staff, see how the food is made. Its all you can eat and not cheap so its a great spot for a special occasion.
One of the single best dining experiences. Ever. Entertaining, educational, and a treat for your taste buds. I could live in the wine cellar alone. On top of the magnificent food they create, they will cook off-the-menu if you ask. I tried it! Asked for Lobster Mac-n-Cheese, and received it! Well worth every penny spent. And then some ...
Part supper club, part theatrical production, part cocktail party. This is like no other restaurant in Sacramento. You need reservations months in advance for the five-course dinner (plus a sushi break). The open demonstration kitchen is framed by a counter and surrounded by tables high enough to afford an excellent view of the shows given by the chef, sometimes owner Randall Selland himself. The food is complex and super creative.
Decor, outstanding, staff, professional, yet absent in the right way, they are there yet never interrupt your conversation but just time it perfect to take drink orders and all the way down to holding a napkin to shield you should a drop of wine spill! One of those rare menus where you want to order one of everything (well actually...
This place is Food porn !!! You will make noises you only make in bed if you know what l mean. Once you eat course after course it just got better and better until the main course and I havent even talked about the staff friendly knowledge and experienced l cant say enough about The Kitchen
The waitress working there are strange: at the middle of the meal we found one of orders was missing and the waitress shown up to the table and first said we did not order and then said that order was not a good one. Seems she did not really care of the business there..

2022-04-11This was our first time at The Kitchen after hearing about it for years from friends and tonight was an incredible experience! I was blown away by the asparagus — ASPARAGUS! We didn’t really know what to expect from this level of fine dining and were unsure if the dishes would be too sophisticated for our palate but the first dish of asparagus showed us what we’ve been missing! The quality ingredients and sauces tasted so clean yet had rich, complex flavors. The evening was definitely off to an impressive start as that was the most memorable plate of asparagus I’ve ever enjoyed! It appeared we were the only ones to bring our child tonight and our 10-year-old loved it! She can be finicky with certain foods and vegetables at home, but she was a big fan of the asparagus dish, as well as the oysters (trying it for the first time), and the beef medallion (enjoying two servings). The wonton in pea purée was also spectacular. Peas never tasted this good before! Our family really enjoyed the evening together and we are so happy to experience The Kitchen. Before tonight we were also concerned whether we could slog through 4-5 hours of dining but the time flew by. The pacing was perfect and there’s so much going on in front of you and in the kitchen that you don’t pay attention to the time. The service is extremely attentive, courteous, and welcoming. The combination of amazing food and impeccable service results in a very comfortable way to spend the evening. Thank you to the chefs, managers, and entire team for such a perfect and memorable night!

2021-11-08Absolutely Breathtaking, Extremely satisfying and a Very filling, 8 course meal. There were so many different flavors, textures and aromas perfectly paired to provide me with the Best Culinary experience that I have ever had. Plus the Chef is absolutely hilarious. 2022-03-21It was a good experience but not sure we will try it again. Yea there were a lot of flavors but it was all kind of the same. Potato and spinach puree. 1st course was asparagus, potatoe puree w truffles. 2nd was a dumpling on puree of peas. Then beef with potatoe puree. I was full but felt full on the richness of everything (potatoe?) You could order seconds but I didnt feel like it. Wine pairing was 125 a person. So whole course was 300+. It was an experience but nothing I will be craving to come back to.

2021-09-06This is a very exciting and unique dining experience. There is an amazing and fun atmosphere and the chef does a fantastic job of being a big personality, an educator, and a party host. He will bend over backward to make the experience a memorable one for you. At the end of the day, my wife and I had a great time and ate a lot of food we otherwise never would have outside of a Michelin rated restaurant but a lot of the foods were just a bit too rich for us. We definitely didnt leave hungry but we werent stuffed either... just done. Ive had enough butter to last me until Thanksgiving 😁. Between dinner and the wine flight for two, we neared $750 out the door and to us, that is a lot of money for an experience that was more than memorable but just not really out thing. Our one big gripe was at $125/pp for the wine flight, they forgot our first drink, we asked about it 2x and both times we were told we would get it later but never did.Again, long story short; glad to say we did it, it was an experience but not something either of us will likely do again. Id persuade others to try it, however. It was just a little lost on us for the price.

2022-04-17An amazing experience. Each time Ive gone has been different, with the menu reflecting whatever is fresh, but the chef and his team always provide an awesome meal. The most impressive part is how they adapt for dietary restrictions, from vegetarian, pescatarian, or even just low dairy.

2022-06-17Unbelievable experience! Truly once in a lifetime. Food was the best I’ve ever had and the environment was unlike anything I’ve heard of. You can walk around the kitchen and you feel like part of the team

2022-06-16We heard the hype and decided to go there for our anniversary dinner. We were not disappointed at all.The wait staff was extremely attentive and all the courses were amazing. A true culinary delight. They encourage you to walk around, check out the kitchen...behind the curtain. The chefs described to courses and engaged the patrons. A completely enjoyable experience. We did not leave hungry, quite the opposite We will definitely go back.
