Dinner is was super good and the out door sitting is amazing. Breakfast was disappointing! You pay 29$ for a small plate(well big place little food)and unlimited champagne or mamosa. I kind of want a normal breakfast not get drunk before a hike. Specially paying 29$ per person.
Excellent location just outside the NP by the river. Food is fairly average and on a little expensive side. I thoroughly enjoyed the burger dinner though after surviving on camping food for a while. But French Onion soup was one of the worst Ive ever tried. Onion was crunch because it wasnt fully caramelized and fibrous outer layer was included. It also sports Tesla charger. Without this restaurant, traveling through Sequoia NP and its surrounding wouldve been impossible in my 225 mile range car.
The food was great and the view was amazing but the customer service is poor. Our waiter, Jordan was very rude and arrogant. He messed up our order which was not a big deal but he was rude about it. Other times Ive gone Ive had a pleasant experience but Jordan will ruin your dining experience.
My family and I went to this restaurant. Wanted to try it since the reviews were amazing and the view was breathtaking but unfortunately as soon as we walked in they did not want to service us. Didnt even get a chance to ask if they had anything available for 4 people. It was a horrible experience. I understand theres still people who are racist but for my 2 year old to experience; it a diffrent experience. I wouldnt recommend it.
It is really frustrating that they added 20% tip without asking and no option to change that. They are asking additional tip on top of the 20%, hello my friend, your service was not even good, neither anything was special about the food! Finally, for such an elegant wannabe place, you should see the WC. I am sharing the photo that I took the day we visited. They ask so much money for average food and service, however they cannot even keep the WCs clean! (I used two different WCs and both were below standards). This is the problem with restaurant kind of business right. You are a kind of asking for a service and god knows what you will get and there is no chance to bargain or complain or to know before hand.Overall, I found the place over priced even if we say there is surplus charge due to river view.
First impression, we walked into a lobby/bar and the fine dining aspect the website suggested fell away.Service was good with several people checking on our drinks, bringing food, and removing plates. The atmosphere felt like a younger person just inherited the restaurant from their parents and are in the midst of updating. Kind of a 70s v 2020s vibe with furniture, wall finishing and decorations clashing. There are some stuffy 1970s-era steakhouses back home and its apparent this place fit that role at some time. Further, the restaurant is perched over a river bank, and the hollow sounding floor lets you know it.Food was ok to meh. My wife had the Kobe burger and I had a Sequoia burger. Both were ordered medium and came out looking like the same well-done burger. Ive cooked much better burgers on a cast iron griddle. I will refrain comment on our twice baked potatoes, because it is nothing nice. Sand dont bother with the Grizzly Style on the burger, steak, or your potato. I dont know who sauteed the onions and mushrooms, but they were in a hurry. The kids chicken tenders had that telltale shape like they were pre-frozen, and the kids cheeseburger was dwarfed by the bun... Like in the old Wendys commercial, wheres the beef?! The only part of the meal that was par or better, was the onion ring/zucchini finger appetizer. Other than that, everything just kind of felt like we were paying inflated prices for the location and not food quality. One might say, well, you all just had burgers and not steaks or anything else. But, if you cant cook a $20 burger to the right temperature and saute onions and mushrooms correctly, then I wont be trusting you to prepare a $100+ tomahawk steak correctly either. They may be the Finest dining in Three Rivers, but they arent they best quality of food. Ill take my money to the food truck on the other side of town.
We had the misfortune of having to purchase a set of tire chains, as mandated by the National Park Service for entrance to the park, from this establishment. After planning our trip for months, we were willing to pay the outrageous price of $123 for the set of tire chains (they sell on Amazon for $39!) if it allowed us to continue our trip through the Sequoia National Park. We were told by the NPS less than 10 minutes after our purchase that the tire chain mandate had just been canceled. We tried to return the unused chains for a refund and were refused! We felt taken advantaged of by this arbitrary business decision! Beware of buying chains here in the future! Another business 2 miles further away rents tire chains for only $40 dollars! That loss would be more palatable than $123!
If you want a good view, and bad food, come here. Dont waste your money otherwise. Nastiest food Ive ever had, half my plate was straight from a can. Canned cranberry sauce and canned pears on top of a pano crusted baked brie and a leaf of romaine lettuce. Also there were two slices of processed bread toast with the brie. We paid 160 USD with a mandatory 20% tip (which is fair because it was easter sunday) for 4 plates of sub-par food. Not worth it at all. The alfredo sauce tasted like sweet mayo (not worth $35). I almost gagged when I tried it from my friend. The eggplant parmesan was just boiled eggplant with tomato sauce and a lil bit of cheese (not worth $34). Imagine mashed potatoes and gravy but its soggy eggplant and marinara sauce instead. Left us all hungry that we went to another place after. Ive never left food on my plate, I hate wasting but we all wasted half out plates atleast. The best and worst part of the meal was the bill because it meant we could leave but it also meant we had to pay a hefty price for disgusting food. Top 3 worst food places Ive ever been to. Sorry for the harsh but truthful review. Do better, you guys. You charge an arm and a leg so you should deliver something worth that as well. The scenic view/atmosphere can only take you so far.
The staff was super friendly, our food came out fast and hot. I ordered the dip the beef was over cooked and flavorless as well as a little too fatty for my liking. The chili was ok lacking in flavor as well. The frys were great though. Great location, the building could use some TLC, over all a good experience and will go back.
Breakfast was basic, egg dishes and pancakes for options. Honestly ho, hum for breakfast. Dinner had pasta and steak options. Steak is advertised to be from the central valleys Harris ranch and it tasted like it - good cut of beef well prepared. Baked potato side and a tasty housemaid crème Brule for desert. Pleasant dining experience in a banquet room that overlooked the back patio and the Kahweah river. Staff was very friendly and accommodating which made for a very nice dinning experience.
We stumbled upon this gem of a place while visiting Sequoia Nat’l park. We had an awesome dinner in their charming and wonderful patio. The food was yummy and everything made fresh. Do try their wings & jalapeno poppers, we havent had such flavourful wings. We ordered a chicken picata…it was wonderful as well, juicy & filled with flavour. They were nice enough to replace my french fries with sweet potato fries. Our server was excellent with the way he treated us.
Went in was told at least 15 minutes if we could wait outside I could see 4 tables empty I asked if we could sit while we waited he said no, I pointed out the empty tables he said we only have 3 servers working today. The bar was empty but that wasnt an option. We go to lunch somewhere in California everyday I have never been treated that way. Im handicapped and being able to sit means allot I will never go back
My family and I came to eat here and the food was very delicious. All five of us loved the food and loved the service as well. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was wonderful. She even gave us fresh baked cookies that she made herself and they were the most delicious cookies I have ever had. My 5 year old daughter couldn’t believe how delicious they were, and she kept saying “Mom I don’t know how she did it to make the best cookies in the whole world”. Aside of the food being delicious, it was a wonderful experience for all of us to eat here. Thank you Gateway Restaurant & Lodge for this wonderful experience.
Well, I wanted to like this place. My Girlfriend and I were here April 2021. The lobster I had was horrible (I think it was undercooked). The bill was huge. But we were just glad to have a sit down dinner post COVID. Well, we went back the weekend between thanksgiving and christmas and the filet mignon I got took forever to get to the table and was raw in the middle (medium rare requested). I asked if it could be refired or something and it took so long to get back we where ready to leave. Everyone else there on both occasions were fantastic! I think the cook (chef is too much) was punishing me as there werent a lot of people there. The atmosphere is so magical I was hoping for the best. The waiter gave us a 20% discount on my meal. The bill still came to over $200 with tip. (We did buy drinks)
This is one amazing little gem of a restaurant in Three Rivers. It sits on the river and has amazing views. We took our mothers their for the champagne brunch and they absolutely loved it. If they loved the food then we were good to go. Lisha was our server and she was so accommodating and polite. We also had the pleasure of meeting Naomi Ruth, the head of housekeeping at the restaurant’s Inn. This place didn’t have the best reviews but we wanted to see for ourselves. Amazing service, amazing food and the most friendly and professional staff. This place truly felt like a warm hug! I’ll definitely go back upon my return to the Sequoia’s.
Lovely restaurant and bar. Situated in a great location, next to the Sequoia park exit. After a hot day of hiking we stopped for a could beer and late noon lunch. The food was very tasty and portions were generous.A nice waitress gave us an explanation of the area.As a conclusion, we enjoyed and highly recommend as a stopover restaurant at the exit of the park.
I ate lunch here with my dad and he lived it so much he was dying to come back for dinner. Most of the tables have beautiful views of the river. The area it overlooks is a naturally dammed pond area full of happy ducks! So cute. I took 0 pics of our food, but it was pretty good and the menu had a wide variety of options. Dad was especially excited about the salad (they were extra nice salads) and his French onion soup. I had a grilled fish sandwich for lunch and an Alaskan salmon burger for dinner (salmon burger was better) only because it was what I was in the mood for. There are many options including pasta, and steak. The food was good and the service was outstanding. Maybe the best service Ive ever had - from both the lunch crew and the dinner crew. Reservations are recommended especially for weekends and I can see why. A must stop if youre heading to Three Rivers or Sequoia.
Really not much choice so ended up here. Food was acceptable but nothing special and all fine until bartender Kyle showed up. He literally changed all the sports on the bar tvs without asking anyone at the bar that was watching. When confronted he ignored it. In addition the female bartenders that were there also ignored us and refused to restore anything after ‘Kyle’ changed the channels. It was BS and we left because of his ride behavior.
Had lunch here today and want to let you know that you have opportunities. First sign says wait for Hostess to be seated and I did and I did. She asked if I wanted to sit inside or outside and I replied outside and she sat me inside and opened the window but was told to close it because air conditioner was on. I sat for at least 5/10 minutes waiting for my server. I waited another 5/10 minutes for my water and ice tea. Tea didn’t taste like fresh brewed! Waited another 10 minutes for my salad. It was very large and tasty. Opportunity here would be the inconsistent chunks of lettuce and chicken some being very large. The salad was heavily dressed. During my long wait I watched the wait staff and hardly saw food going out of kitchen. By the way kitchen door needs to be washed or painted. I used to work in restaurants so I know how it should flow. I would say that your atmosphere is everything. Your prices are high so seems more like dinner house but today your wait staff/ hostess experience and food were lacking. I will come back because like I mentioned the view is everything!
Dreadful food and service. DONT COME HERE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I had gone in with my girlfriend and got strange looks from the staff for whatever reason. Very uncomfortable atmosphere with staff that dont even care, only one waiter was actually kind. Everyone else had an artificial kindness around them. Food is crazy overpriced (due to the location no doubt) but I would at least expect some quality. Dirty tables, no general care for the establishment at all. I repeat DONT COME HERE AND GIVE THEM ANY MONEY. Really disappointed and disgusted with everything. Its a shame.
Oh my, this place exceeded all expectations. It’s unassuming from the road, but sitting along the river on the deck was a delight. Service was attentive and quick and the food was outstanding as well. We all had steaks, and from the ribeye to the filet they were delicious and perfectly prepared. Leave room for dessert too. The molten lava cake was yummy. (No food pics, we ate everything. )
Maybe a little pricey but worth every penny! The food and service here is fantastic! Myself and the kids were pleasantly surprised when we found this gem along our journey back from the Giant Sequoia Forest. The view and sound of the river while you are eating make it a truly unique and memorable experience. Absolutely worth the drive up there! Definitely get the cheesecake!
Love The Gateway! The lodge is perfect, right next to the entrance of Sequoia, very clean, Ruth is so kind and gives extra towels, there’s a microwave and fridge, coffee is great, the restaurant menu is incredible and they are very accommodating here! We were able to bring our potty trained puppy and he was able to stay in the room while we were hiking! Call and ask in advance to confirm. All the staff is kind and hardworking and the view here is beautiful. You dine right along the river. Make a reservation for breakfast, brunch or dinner, open 8am to 9pm, it gets busy. Room service is another great option. Keep in mind the tip is included in room service. I cannot say enough great things about staying here and we will return to this lodge again.
Elegant and romantic! I honestly went after doing the trails at the Sequoia National Parks with my kiddos not knowing it was so fancy, but so glad. Customer service is great and friendly, food is delicious, and the bread before food is to go for alone lol. My rib eye was so tender, it is well worth it. Try their homemade fries everyone! Oh, and they have separate kid menus as well and outside dining has beautiful views of the river💙
I rated this three stars relative to fine restaurants anywhere, not relative to the area which has very few choices for 3 fork dining. The food was okay, my steak was rare, not medium but I would rather it be under rather than over cooked. The drinks are good and the bar has a fine selection of whiskey and scotch. What makes 3 stars generous is that from the staff to the signs all over the place, its clear that the restaurant is only there for your pleasure if you dont irritate the staff or the management. You have probably been to this kind of place before, NYC has lots, where the food is the prize and you need to be good enough to eat it. Except here the food is only okay.... so it would be better if they either bring it up a few notches or lose the attitude. The view on the river is very nice, even with the weird plastic tree on the rock.
Absolutely Beautiful Location but we weren’t NOT thrilled with the food or service. We did not have a very attentive waitress at all. We literally had to ask three other servers and the host for help during our experience. Make reservations if you want outside seating, that is apparently for reservations that never came. We didn’t get near the amount of food or quality we expected for what we paid. $29 for 6 crab ravioli with barely a spoonful of Alfredo (Husband said it didn’t taste well at all) and one piece of broccoli head when he was supposed to have a “side” of veggies. $44 for filet mignon, yet my steak wasn’t cooked properly and it had to be sent back. I had no clue I was even getting a piece of broccoli because I ordered fries and those looked and tasted like I got the very few and last of the bag. And, the sauce on the side was... I have no clue what the sauce was... but it wasn’t palatable. We did try to make the best of it just because we were so thrilled with the location and we were excited just to have some time away. Sadly though, we won’t be coming back to eat here.
We went here spur of the moment while just driving in 3 Rivers. I heard a lot about the place from friends and wanted to check it out. So we in t-shirts and shorts. When we got there they werent busy and the view was amazing, right next to a river and what not. The prices are pretty over priced for the portion size. I got ravioli which was $30 (no meat) and it barely covered half the plate. The prices I could ignore, but our waiter insulted us by asking me if I was splitting my food with my friend when I ordered it. Why would you ask that to someone? Did he believe we couldnt afford the food because of how we were dressed? The nerve. Will probably return though and give a better review if the servers are better and portions justify the prices.
We decided to have dinner here after a day in the National Park the weekend of October 11. My husband and I, along with our 2 young teenage children, had passed the restaurant on our way to the park. Parking was easy, but right off the bat, we were not made to feel welcomed. The hostess was rather rude and short with us, and was actually snippy with a server who was trying to help her find an open table/server for us. We assumed because we didnt have a reservation she was irritated, by the way she commented, Oh, you dont have reservations. She then bluntly informed us we had to have our temps taken, she took them and then ran off (we were to follow) to seat us. We caught up to her outside along a very nice patio where we were seated above the river. The view was very nice and the lighting gave it a nice ambiance. The menu seemed nice, plenty of selections. A little pricey considering we were sitting in plastic chairs, in my opinion. The meal was great...almost. I had the ribs, my husband a burger, along with my son, and my daughter had the ravioli which were delicious. The only disappointing thing about the meal, was the anticipation of twice baked potatoes, yet they werent anything but mashed potatoes put back into their skins. Bummer. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He was busy, but managed his tables well. All in all, not a bad place to dine. For the price point though, I would expect a little more.
We had a wonderful time with great customer service 2 years ago. After coming back from covid, the food was terrible. My salad was mixed with wilted lettuce and old cucumbers. Service was good, but terrible food.. esp paying for a salad I could’ve put together on my own for fraction of the price. My husband didn’t like his fish sandwich either. Tasted bland.
Ordered a Marsala pasta and a steak and lobster tail for my party. I don’t eat meat so I have no idea if the steak was good or not, but the Marsala pasta sauce was very salty and thin, like the consistency of soy sauce. The lobster tail was also very salty. Would not recommend the food, but the servers were nice and helpful.
Keep going back for the view and the location is great but every time I go the service is very slow regardless of how crowded or empty the place is. Maybe it is because I always ask to be seated in the patio by the river, maybe its because Im not a local (not sure).Definitely ask about making reservations ahead of time (preferably a day in advance) and expect to be here 90+ minutes. The food is decent and the place has great ops of the river and bridge. I will continue the tradition of eating here every time I am in the area.
Terrible. Political nonsense on the door when you walk in. My fork was dirty. Water glass was not refilled. Website menu was inaccurate. The menu they did have, they were out of several items. Menu states All entrees come with choice of soup or salad, vegetable, and choice of baked potato, fries, or rice pilaf. Ordered ravioli. After the server had to go check to see if they still had it (it was the last one), was informed that because it was a pasta, I did not get a choice of potato. Pointed out that it said ALL entrees on menu, not all entrees except pasta and server said oh, gee sorry and didnt care at all. 20% automatic gratuity because it is a holiday (fathers day). And they placed an ad in my hotels guestbook for 10% off if you show your keycard, and then refused to honor it. Prices at this restaurant are extremely high compared to the service received. Do not recommend.
You are called The Gateway and are located basically right outside of the southern Sequoia National Park Entrance... You should probably not look so disappointed when weary travellers wander in to your place...I have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant and if you check my history I visit many. The food was delivered fast but looked rushed. Wait staff refused to make eye contact and seemed all around disinterested in our presence...Honestly it was a bad experience but I am happy I didnt expect much because then itd have been a tremendous let down.In the future I will go out of my way to avoid these depressing people.
The setting and views are excellent, but the food isnt. Ive eaten there a few times and never had anything I liked. You pay a lot of money to sit somewhere beautiful, so its nice for special occasions or casual drinks. I really wish they would improve the food quality.
We Went last night for my parents anniversary. We had reservations at 7:30. My sister and her family got there a little bit earlier but they weren’t able to attend them until the whole party was there which is understandable. When we all arrived the hostess( some girl with eyelash extensions) was being really rude to us making a big deal trying to sit us far apart from each other. She lied and said the tables we were trying to get were reserved already. Which was a lie because nobody else showed up after us. She looked at me up and down when I mentioned I was pregnant and she just laughed at me like if I was lying about it because of my weight. The ONLY reason I’m giving it two stars is because our waiter was AMAZING ! She was very kind and very polite ! The food was ok. Not worth the price. Hope to speak to the Owner soon about the hostess he has. I personally have seen the owner on Facebook help out during the pandemic and he seems like a very nice and generous guy so hopefully he gets staff that are bit more friendly and less judgmental.
Horrible!!! Don’t waste your time going here!!! It’s expensive, but I don’t mind paying higher prices for good food and good service! The greeting at the door immediately made us feel very unwelcome! The menu is very limited, and the food was horrible! I wish I would have taken a picture of the Brie cheese appetizer, that sounded really good in the description, but was unbelievably bad, and it tasted as bad as it looked!!! It was very obvious that they don’t care! The staff was as horrible as the food; they NEVER came back to our table see if we were happy with our food, or if we needed anything else; they actually acted very annoyed that we were there.
The food, service, and outdoor dining experience was very good. The only thing that irked me was the sanitary conditions. I saw bird droppings on the furniture and spider webs on the railings by the dining tables. Also a customer had his dog on the sofa chair drooling. Not too appetizing while eating. Besides that, I did have a good time and would go back.
This place has a great setting along the river with indoor and outdoor dining. We are there 3 times over a week, once each for breakfast, lunch, and supper. Each is a different menu. Twice outside; once inside. Flies seemed worse inside than out, oddly.Go when your time is relaxed; its not fast food.
My fiancé and I hiked all day and stayed the night in the hotel. We ate at the restaurant are were extremely happy with the food. The people are extremely nice and the food was perfect after hiking all day! The prices were fair considering this is California. The atmosphere outside is second to none.
This is the first restaurant Ive dined in at since the pandemic began. Stopped in to charge the car and decided to eat in. The food was great. The service was fantastic. I ate outside and everyone wore a mask if they werent seated. For anyone wondering, the car charger is a tesla wall charger like you would get for your home garage. Its free to charge and its brilliant. I probably cost them $2 in electricity and wound up spending more than I would have if I had ordered take out.
My husband and I payed a premium to stay in the Honeymoon Suite Cabin 6 for three nights. Note: the private dry sauna is NON FUNCTIONAL. It does not heat up over 80F and management is fully aware. Inside, a sign notes if the dial is turned past 5, the unit will shut off. Otherwise the private deck was great and the unit was clean with standard amenities. This lodge is in a stunning location along the Kaweah River, 2 minutes from the south entrance into Sequoia National Park. The restaurant porch has great views with good food. The manager Glen is friendly but multiple staff members have poor customer service. We will stay elsewhere next time we travel to Three Rivers.
We arrived here because it was a beautiful patio along the river, great setting for a romantic evening (on our honeymoon). The server was great and attentive, but sadly the food was cold, very mediocre, and tasted like frozen shrimp and scallops. The twice baked potatoes had a piece of kraft cheese half melted on top. We paid $100 for this! It was way overpriced for what we got, sadly. So if youre going for drinks, service, and ambience, 5 stars. Food itself, 1 star. The sad part is behind us was a couple trying to book their wedding reception there before trying the food. It took everything we had not to turn around to help them.
Went to have graduation lunch for my grandson. We had reservations so there was no wait. The place is nice. Server was great. Food was fantastic. Its a little bit pricey but you will get a lot of food. I had the Chicken Fried Steak.. It was delicious. Their mashed potatoes are the best. Nice to have lunch while listening to the river.
Ribs and teriyaki chicken were good, but their idea of a vegetable is frozen steamed spinach without any flavor, and were out of a lot of things including sour cream for a baked potato, service was not the best neither. We had ordered food to go and the food had been seating there because the hostess didnt get my order together until I went and asked her for it. Pricey for that kind of service.
Owner doesnt enforce masks for his employees. Has a douchey sign up saying something to the effect of, Due to government handouts, no one wants to work. So were short staffed so be patient with the staff and dont forget to tip. Someone needs to tell this guy that he should pay his employees more, rather than pocketing the EIGHTEEN DOLLARS for a Reuben sandwich. Mediocre quality lunch for my wife and me was $70. Her salad was like $23! Potato salad was about 50% mayo 🤮 Reuben was soggy and greasy. Stay away - not even worth McDonalds prices, let alone Downtown LA dinner prices.
I HIGHLY recommend staying here! Its a cute little family-owned motel that looks like the owners actually care about it and its guests. We met the owner and his son, and they are wonderful people who are very hospitable. The food at their restaurant is INCREDIBLE actually, so good in fact, people made reservations (hint hint). We stayed here 1 night and 1 night at the lodge up inside the park, and this place makes the lodge look very lack-luster in terms of the room and amenity quality.
On our trip to Sequoia we just happen to see the place and dropped by for a bite. I had zero expectations when we entered the restaurant, then I was blown away from the awesome view it had of the river. We ordered lunch and the waitresses were very nice and polite — I love the way they took cared of us. The food was not that extravagant for the price it had, but everything tasted great anyway. Although, with the price tag they gave, I feel like it is justified from the great location and view you are having of the river — you are not only paying for the food, but also for the view and experience as well.Overall, I enjoyed my experience and hopefully in the long future, I can visit again and this time, stay longer.
My girlfriends and I had reservations for the restaurant. (May 24 7:15 pm) We were told it’s pushed back by a half hour or so, we didn’t get a straight answer. The hostess was super impatient, the bartender was rude to everyone, clearly they were overwhelmed. They looked like deer in headlights... I’m not sure if this is a normal thing for this place but I didn’t appreciate the hostility of the staff so we left without sitting. Incredibly disappointed after having made reservations. I really hope this was a fluke..
It was pretty good. They have a destination charger for your Tesla right outside of the Sequoia national park entrance. The food was a little on the more expensive side. Were talking $25-$80 depending on the type of food you want. But we did understand that it was a tourist destination so we enjoyed our time. The view and atmosphere was great. It was during the middle of covid so the staff was all wearing masks. They were all really nice. However it did take the staff almost 30 minutes from when we finished our meal to get us our check and ring us up.Owner also did scare me a little bit when he came over to plug in my car. Nice guy but he should have worn a mask when he approached me. I think that freaked everyone out in the car. He up close to our faces without a mask on when he was talking. Felt pretty uncomfortable.
They always have great food and great service stopped here to get snow chains before the Sequoia National Forest. Better prices then some of the other places we stopped for chains. Came up today for the polar plunge and to go play in the snow had a great time. Happy New Year!!!!
Being that Ive never dined anywhere by Three Rivers, Ive assumed that restaurants or any food business would be decent. The view is fantastic and the waiters/waitresses were nice. However, I ordered the Sequoia Burger to be medium rare and it was closer to medium well than not. Another person who was in our party also had their meal not cooked to their desire. The prices for what you get in return arent justified. The fries look like the kind one can purchase in the frozen food aisle. Once we received our bill, the waitress (or someone else) automatically added a $12 tip to my bill and another $16 tip to the other people we were with. I dont mind tipping, but they should allow their guests to decide what to tip and the service we received wasnt worth $28. I realize we couldve stated our issues or concerns with management, but we just wanted to leave more than anything. Also, they check your temperature while youre entering, which I dont have a problem with considering everything going on, but its something to know about for those interested in coming here.
Very nice property adjacent and overlooking a river and very appetizing menu. People were very nice but the service was poor specially when considering the prices....a number of simple and basic mistakes that even when brought to the attention of the crew, still took time to rectify......but as stated they were very nice and attempting to rectify the mistakes & be helpful ... maybe one or more didnt show up for work? I dont know, I just felt something was not right on the night as far as service was concerned....
Decided to come and eat during a getaway. When we arrived (there was 5 of us total) the hostess was kind of rude, made it seem like we couldn’t afford eating there. Possibly because we were Hispanic and almost every one there were white (we were dressed ready to go hiking since we were actually heading to sequoia). We finally got sat at a table and the waitress was not friendly at all. She had forgotten our appetizers which was part of the brunch special. Other customers got theirs upon being sat down. We assumed she had simply forgotten until she brought our entree out. We told her thank you, she wouldn’t even acknowledge it. She would simply walk away and not say a word. After we were done with our entree we asked her for the appetizers and she simply said “oh you still want it?” I understand that we’re in a pandemic and everyone is on edge but customer service shouldn’t be determined by the color of someone’s skin or simply by the way one looks. This place literally had the worst customer service I’ve encountered in a long time. The mimosas were also bottomless and when we asked for seconds, her reply was, “oh you want more!?” We had to keep asking for water refills because she would walk by and not even bother asking. Unless you fit their stereotype I wouldn’t recommend this place. The food was good but service was terrible.
They have the best French dip! The calamari is also amazing. We normally do a round of bloody Mary’s followed by a Moscow mule for him and a strawberry margarita for me.We were there last weekend and it was soooo hot. Obviously with the “pandemic” going on, we had to sit outside. Normally, it isn’t as unbearably hot and this is not their fault. The food and service are always pretty good and we try to stop on our way to or from the National park. My first visit was when that little girl in the pics was about two weeks from being born and we’ve gone back several times since! Definitely recommend stopping in for a bite if you’re in the area. They are seating by reservation, so call ahead!
The location is the beauty of the place. Less than a mile from the entrance to Sequoia and next to the river. The food is ok but pricey. The bar has a great selection. Visited 2 nights in a row for good drinks. It seems to be a place for locals especially the bar area. We got a few stares, maybe cause we are 2 hispanics who ocassionaly would speak spanish. :)
View was amazing! Food was ok slightly expensive for what it was. Service was terrible. Once we got to the restaurant it took about 20minute to be sat at our table. Once we got to our table it took another 20-30min to get water and take our order. While we were waiting the couple with baby who had been waiting longer than we had at the point decided to leave since they were not getting any service. This place has potential to be a great restaurant but they need to work on their customer service skills.
The view is the best thing here. The food is less than mediocre. The service is slow and slightly unaccomidating. We came for Fathers Day and they were ONLY serving brunch. My daughter tried ordering a salad and wound up having nothing, due to the very limited menu. They had very little condiments for our bland and undercooked food. I think this visit was a waste. Good thing Sequoia National Park is nearby. For this visit I have to say I was not impressed or even satisfied. Definitely overrated. Everyone left hungry.
Our dining experience was very pleasurable in spite of our server forgetting our appetizer all together, and not being around when we wanted hot sauce and salad dressing. She was friendly, but all the staff were hanging out at the bar, while we we eating out on the deck. The food was delicious, and the view was spectacular. We could see and hear the river and the ducks below. The atmosphere inside was very nice too. The tables were all covered in pristine white table cloths, not overcrowded, and surrounded by beautiful decor. We will definitely be back.
If I could give this place a million stars, I would! I just proposed to my long time girl friend here last night. I notified the staff ahead of time, and they agreed to set up my decorations on the deck area by the river. The server Isaac was awesome and very helpful, and the busser Pablo was very helpful as well when he helped set up the scenery. They even provided us with complimentary champagne and creme brûlée. This place will forever be connected to me and my fiancée for a life time...not too often do you get those experiences at a restaurant but I absolutely loved it here. Thank you to Susan, Glenn, Isaac and Pablo for making this night one we will never forget.
Fantastic! Incredible view and delicious food. We ate there initially because of the convenient location (right outside the park), but came back for the amazing food and relaxing atmosphere. Brie appetizer is wonderful and New York strip sandwich was so good, I had to share it with my family. (Almost wish we had ordered 2!) Make it your stop!
Every single time we go, we have an outstanding experience. We only go two or three times a year and we always go off-peak, mid-day, week-day. My sweetie, Audry, is quite particular about her dining service and food quality. When shes happy, Im happy. This place never lets me down. The dining area options are nice with indoor /outdoor / seasonal fire pit / river overlook choices. The prices are fair. The adult beverages are generously mixed. The menu changes every year and the variety is refreshing. Its cozy, familiar and relaxing here. You should definitely try it. If youre traveling, call for on prem lodging options. Sorry, no photos this trip. We were ... preoccupied. 🌹
Review only for restaurant.Service, food and the price was great! The onion rings where perfekt and my vegetarian Burger was so tasty! My wife had the chicken breast and she said it was excellent. Our table was next to the window and we had a nice view at the river and mountains. The restaurant has a very great atmosphere and a good looking bar. Here you can enjoy a good beer and sports. They have an indoor and outdoor seating, so when the weather is good you may choose outside for the view.
I’ve been to this restaurant on a few occasions. The view is great but the service is lacking and the food is similar to hospital food. Today was by far the worse experience I’ve had here. The place was empty and there were maybe 2 tables besides ours. When our server came he didn’t introduce himself to us, he didn’t offer up any specials or even any pleasantries. Our soups were cold and other tables were served bread and we were not. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana, and it was chunks of what appeared to be, old and boiled eggplant over a thick bed of congealed cheese. The vegetables were not seasoned, and the highlight of the meal was the potato salad. We were not asked if we enjoyed our meal, and after picking up the plates, our server brought the check without offering dessert. This place stays open due to tourism and it’s proximity to the national park. If poor service and poor quality is your thing look no further.
From the moment we walked in I felt prejudice . Having us wait outside till the rest of our group comes instead of saying you can wait in the bar area. The dumb look on the girl in the front desk acting ridiculous and dumb. I know Ill never go their again and the food wasnt even that great
Right off the bat, when we parked and entered to the front desk, you guys noticed us and greeted us with kindness. Yall were on top of the game your staff is utmost friendly people to get us checked in. The room was incredibly neat and clean, it was freshly stocked with toiletries and towel. Clean towels and linens, Ruth knew what she was doing when she cleaned out room. The one thing for sure was the parking, when we came back down from the Park we would come back to a swamped parking lot. Its quite understanding since you guys are located so close to the entrance of Sequoia National Park. We unfortunately didnt dine in your restaurant, we were more excited to go to the park. I was lucky to even have this reservation to your place, I am most definitely will be back again and stay and enjoy your views.
My partner and I were very disappointed by our experience here. Our server mentioned that the vegetable side dish was going to be asparagus, but we ended up with a few pieces of broccoli and some baby carrots neither of which was seasoned in any way. My partner ordered the rack of lamb which were cooked nicely but were also unseasoned in any way. It just seemed like they werent trying very hard. We know its tough to survive as a restaurant in the small tourist towns, but for the price I think they could do much better.
Food was good and the scenery was nice. Other than that, my family and I received poor service. Waitress Cindy was not pleasant. Ten minutes after we ordered our food, a young couple sat next to us and ended up getting their food before us.Cindy forgot my youngest daughters pizza and fries. As most of us were about finished with our plates, here is Cindy with the pizza and fries and NO apology!!! No acknowledgement, just a scowl on her face.I look at my bill and Gateway Restaurant INCLUDES a 15% tip which was over $20! Waitresses NEED TO EARN THEIR TIPS! Cindy needs to appreciate her job as there are many unemployed people. Attitude of Gratitude is the only tip Cindy deserves. My family and I will spend our money somewhere else for the next Three Rivers trip.
Food was excellent and fresh salad greens, very pricey if you’re on a budget, but worth the price and stop! I recommend having the experience even if price is a bit higher than your normal food stops. The balcony deck was amazing, watching the water swiftly pass below, as their fan blows a slight mist, making it feel like the river is listing water on you. They are very pet friendly for those pet owners who have small teacup sized fur babies! They allowed us to bring our tiny teacup chihuahua to the deck..
Today was my moms birthday, I ordered a salad as a side with my main dish with Italian dressing, the salad was drenched in dressing, I couldn’t eat it so my aunt wanted it and she even said she couldn’t eat it because it was too much, then I ordered the “salmon burger”. When I got the “burger” the salmon filet was very small and greasy, the tomato was at least 2 inches thick on a piece of lettuce and a regular bun... and they wanted 20 dollars for that? I don’t think so.Overall didn’t look appetizing.I asked the waitress, if I can order something else, they took the plate walked away and by the time the waitress came back for my order everyone at our table was already packing their food in to go boxes, I just said forget it.I was reading more reviews and it seems like the owners try to justify themselves by making excuses if they have a negative comment, just something I noticed. Don’t make excuses, make changes.
Did not stay at the lodge but did dine at the restaurant from the recommendation of a local. Restaurant is cozy with a very beautiful view of the river if you get there early enough to see it. Menu choices are abundant but very pricey for mediocre food, but remember your paying for the location on the river. Service was very good and they have a nice selection of wines. Bar is lively and filled with an interesting cast of characters. Enjoy!
My family and I went to this restaurant based on a recommendation from a friend. When we arrived, I was Disturbed to find that they were not taking any necessary covid-19 precautions. The staff were not wearing masks or observing social distancing practices. In my opinion, this is a highly irresponsible practice by the owners of this restaurant. Although the ambiance of the rushing River that was a bonus, the food and service were mediocre-at-best. Our food was cold and the waitress failed to check back with us to ask us our food was. She also never refilled any of our drinks and never came back except to collect the check. In my own personal opinion, I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are willing to pay top dollar for poor service and food.
These folks were great on service. Food was tasty and not too expensive. They were very accommodating even though we had a child with us who got a little wild. I was very impressed at how quickly they cleaned up the table and turned it over for another group. I would gladly go back to this place!
Review only for restaurant.Customer friendly and great location (outside entrance of the park)A must stop location, if driving Tesla to the park like me, and trying to be adventurous. They have two wall chargers, available for use to their customers. One of them charges faster (48 miles per hour), so can add decent miles to your Tesla, while you enjoy your lunch. Overall, decent to pleasant experience at this restaurant.
Our family went to have lunch at The Gateway Restaurant, it was such a bad experience. The waitress, Cindy, did not even try to hide her emotions. It was obvious that she did not care about us, our order and us having a good experience. She started walking away when my husband hadnt even given her his order. My daughter ordered pizza; it was obvious that they forgot to put her food in, when we asked them about it, they said it would be right out- so about 30 minutes later she gets her food as she is watching the family eat our food. The couple that was seated a few minutes after us, ordered after us; got their food first.Cindy was so cold, she had a scowl on her face; scary person. We will not be returning any time soon. The other thing is the tip was an automatic 15% taken out; the only tip she deserved was verbal; smile, pretend to enjoy your job, dont take your problems to work... pick one..Horrible customer service.
Excellent food, great service at the bar. Good music choice and a fun welcoming kind of atmosphere. We had a great time talking with some local residents and the restaurant owner. Location is literally a couple hundred feet from the entrance to Sequoia National Park. Didnt take advantage of lodging as it was booked full. Parking can be a little tricky and reservations for dinner on holidays is a must... Although sitting at the bar was just as enjoyable if not moreso.
I rated this place 4 stars only because nowhere is perfect. But it truly deserves 5 simply because of the service. Although i have never stayed here at the lodge, i do enjoy coming here for the restaurant. With the amazing view of the river, the good food, and the exceptional wait staff, i have enjoyed every visit. Reservations are not required, but if you want the outdoor seating with the best view of the river, you should make them.
We were leery about eating here after reading the reviews on Google regarding the slow service and bad food. We took a chance and came. We were seated immediately and greeted by a waitress. She took our drink order and a few minutes later we had our drinks. She came back and took our food order. After we received our soup and our bread it only took a few minutes for our main course to come out. All aspects of this food and location were incredible. We do think that this is a place that you need to go to if youre here. Its a little pricey but the ambience and the food is incredible. We did come on a Tuesday night. Im not sure if that makes any difference.
Amazing spot on the river, super close to sequoia park, loved the convenience. They warned us of hornets on the deck, we chose to try it out, but it was way too overwhelming the second we got our food. Decided to move inside.Good variety in the menu , we were expecting higher prices being in a tourist area, but I think these were a little too high. $$$$I feel this could be an amazing place but definitely in need of some updating.
My favourite joint! Glen n Susan were great host. The ambience with the new lights are awesome and super romantic. We went to celebrate valentines Day on Saturday and received a rose from the owners which made the dinner date more exciting and beautiful. Thank you for the hospitality. Will definitely come again and again...
This place should be great, and for most visitors it probably is. The room was clean and cozy. The restaurant is beautiful. We visited on our way home after Thanksgiving. So, that might be part of the issue we ran into. The kitchen was out of a lot of important stuff. It was hard to find our server when we needed anything during dinner. The food was good, but less than great.Id give it another chance, but we were not as impressed as wed hoped. One other thing. The lodge touts its reasonable breakfast, and it does look reasonable. But if you want breakfast on a Sunday, that reasonable breakfast is not available. They have a champagne brunch (or nothing). The cost (and our kids in tow) sent us into town. The good news is that the hostess let us know before we sat down. That was some good customer service. She recognized that their efforts might be lost on our 4-year-old and gave us the heads up. Good move
We were told our table would be ready on the deck by the river in 15 minutes, more like 45! They said the people before us had paid and finished all their food, but were just sitting there! The kitchen was about to close, and it was getting dark. And there were sitting areas out there around fire pits on the deck, so politely suggest to the people that they move there because we have been waiting a long time! Not that difficult to figure out. Food was good, a little pricey, but their deck area is great! Lots of ducks to watch on the river.
Me and my husband don’t plan to stay at the hotel, but things happened. Our car key got locked inside the car and it was Christmas so that the sequoia park ranger try to help, unlucky he cant open our car, so that he send us to this hotel, telling us that we can try to use the phone from the hotel, the owner is a very friendly guy. He really help us. Give us a discount to rent the room and have a food. Everything is locked inside the car so we were like no idea what to do. Thank you so much for helping me. I like the hotel. And he gave a super good service. I saw one Mediterranean guy want to eat pizza but he dont sell pizza however, he told the customer he can bake it for him and he did it, so it was such an incredible experience. If i come back again i will definitely stay at his place again:)
We just ate at the restaurant for lunch for a water, ice tea, 1/2 tuna sandwich a very small cup of soup and a small.personal pizza it was $35. not friendly, not clean, great location. It has so much more potential.Overpriced not very good quality even though it was home made. the soup was just weird like it was thickened with too much flour. As there is a lack of other choices to eat this place has the monopoly due to its great location. Unfortunately its a captured market so its either that or subway and pizza factory.....😐
Bartender, Kyle I think, gave a proper professional greeting as I entered. Hostess and waiter were into themselves and not the customer. Again, Kyle came over and helped me and provided great service and was a leader at the restaurant. Heard him say, table x has lunch menus to the hostess and waiter - yet they blindly stared at him so he took the dinner menu over. Keep in mind, I am very critical as I used to cook do tableside flaming appetizers and desserts and other roles from dishwasher to management. Thx Kyle, you earned your 25% tip.
We visited Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks over Thanksgiving and stopped here for lunch on our way in. They had a special menu with all you can eat Thanksgiving feast and dessert bar. It was quite tasty! The service was great and the price was reasonable considering what we received. The setting is also amazing - right on a river with scenic views all around. They also have really funny signs/decorations that were entertaining us.
A cross between a dive bar and nice restaurant. They have a surprisingly high quality menu which delivers as advertised but even so the prices seem a bit steep for the dive bar type atmosphere. But then again, a quality place to eat this close to the Sierras has its price. The Riversides views are great and it looks like they occasionally have live music, so thats a plus. The staff were prompt and friendly while the barflys were appropriately sociable
The view was awesome and the food was good. However, it was all tempered by the not best server and some fairly high prices. The server came back 1 time to check on us, but there was a different person that did a great job refilling our drinks during the meal. We asked the server to split the check 3 ways at the end of dinner and she informed us that was only possible if we had told her before we ordered. Then we saw that the 20% gratuity was automatically included on the check.
Crossing the historic bridge with the view of the Gateway in sight had me excited to visit. Seeing the patrons outside laughing and having a great time really piqued my interest. What I love about this place is the riverside seating and the view of the mountains. Peering into the river as we entered the front door showed sings of waterfowl about the shoreline, and we even saw a fish in the water! The entrance was somewhat cramped with people trying to enter and exit, the bar was to the left of the front door. Being we just wanted to eat and head to our campsite, the best bet was to eat at the bar, which was mostly empty. As we sat towards the end, we noticed there was some musical equipment in the corner. The bartender, who was a really, really, nice person explained they do live music, just not so frequently. I get it. As the bar began to fill up, we order off the menu. I did not realize there were two menus, but I was really happy to know the bar menu was more reasonably priced than the dining room, itself. Our food had yet to arrive and beer number 2 came. My partner and I became surrounded by what we presumed to be, locals? It was after all, passed working hours on a weekday. As we sat and engaged in conversation with one patron, having a great talk about the local area, a separate patron felt the need to proclaim, and I quote: this is a TRUMP bar, right here, if you all dont like it, go home... umm.. what? WTF exactly he meant, I dont know..? We asked the bartender if we could be sat outside to avoid further political demonstration, and were granted a nice seat outside. Low and behold, the same gent that graced our presence inside, presumed we cared to further our impromptu, and one-sided political debate highlighting the Trump presidency and all of its benefit to the modern United States. Our food finally arrived, and fortunately the local guy had vacated the area. Burger and a salad. The salad was excellent. The burger, too. We had to return to the bar to pay our tab, at which time we were greeted by the same patron, this time however, a more inebriated version than the previous, this time accompanied by other, equally as cheerful bar patrons. As we searched to cling on to any thread of salvation to save us from this situation, whom so gracefully shared our time at this establishment, we paid and departed as soon as possible. Never before had I felt the need to vacate an establishment sans-payment like I did this time thanks to these frequent customers. I can assure the Google public this place has a great stigma that swells with history and pride. Just, maybe dont pet the wildlife.
We pre ordered a take out thanksgiving dinner-called a day in advance to reserve and had a scheduled pick up time for 1pm. My boyfriend went to pick up the order the hostess was wearing a mask below her chin and the owner wasn’t wearing one at all. He was given instructions to reheat the food in the microwave. The order was missing 2 appetizers and the cranberry sauce. When I called to inquire about the missing apps-a really rude hostess by the name of brea told me that she had checked that order and that it was complete. I told her it was not-she called me a liar. Told me we could come back if we wanted to. I hung up the phone and then decided to call back to speak with the owner who told me that the missing apps were a mistake on their part and that we could come back to get them. I declined because they were not wearing masks and I told him that I wanted the apps and the 20 percent gratuity removed from the check due to the screw up and the nasty attitude of the hostess. He told me he would fix it. 3 days later-the full amount is still charged on my card. So I called him AGAIN. I was told by a guy named Jordan on the phone to call back later. I then insisted that he take a message for glen, the owner. He never even called me back. $130 for food to microwave, no masks and really bad service. The food was okay considering-we won’t ever go back or recommend this place.
Came here for lunch at the restaurant. The food was great and our server was really nice. The low rating is for the man sitting on the front desk - my boyfriend and I walked in waiting to be seated, he didnt even look up at us and ignored us until we called for his attention and then begrudgingly asked someone to seat us. I wouldve glosses over this if it werent for the fact that I was seated right next his stand and heard him greeting other patrons with great enthusiasm and hospitality. I wonder if its because of what we look like compared to the rest of the population here.
We ate lunch at the restaurant after visiting Sequoia National Park. Georgia, our waitress was very sweet, good service, good food. The fish sandwich had way too much lettuce and the roll they used was so flimsy, the sandwich slid all over the place. Tasted good but was extremely messy. Also there was one waitress having a side conversation that was loud, using vulgarity. Other than that, a pleasant place to eat with a view to die for. Eat on the patio, trust me!
Excellent dining. We had dinner here both nights we were here and they were both excellent. A little pricier than some other Three Rivers dining spots, but the food is well worth it and you get A Lot for your money, most entrees include a salad or soup to start and they bring bread to start. Wait staff very polite and accommodating. We also stayed one night at the lodge as we needed a place last minute and they had an opening for us. Room had a sauna (private) and a deck overlooking the river. Great deal for the price and my wife and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
I was really excited about this place and wanted it to be good. The view of the river is very nice .. but the food was disgusting. Tasted like microwaved frozen dinners. The average price for the entere is $30-40 .. so its not cheap at all. The chef must be fired at once. Its an insult to this beautiful spot to have food this nasty!
Our food was delicious , service was very pleasant and prompt, and the scenery was spectacular! Heart broken that we came from Ohio and will likely not get to see the park ( we left in Jan. before Vivid-19)and couldnt find access to the river.... This restaurant will probably be the closest we will get to either. We HIGHLY recommend The Gateway Restaurant !!
Although the view of the running river below the restaurant is amazing, the service was terrible. After waiting for ONE HOUR after ordering and no sign of food or of our server, I was told our ticket was up next in the kitchen to be prepared. That was a deal breaker for us so we left. The menu wasnt extraordinary, basic diner food, so if you go, and you will because other options are limited, it will be for the view, not the food. Just dont have any plans for the rest of the day----or night.
Very nice view. Dated menu (1980s/90s). Service terrible. Dish way over-seasoned therefore sent it back (believe this is the 1st time Ive ever done that). Never received apology from server. Management never visited table. Dish was removed from check which I learned when we received bill. We were never told during dinner how returned dish would be handled. Server never smiled and answered questions as minimally as possible and rushed us to order. We felt like we were an inconvenience to the establishment all around.
The food is so bomb, and the staff is incredibly warm. I feel like Im in the perfect mountain hideway sitting on the fork of two beautiful rivers. The AC is perfect for those hot summer days. Also, the drinks are refreshing, smooth, and strong. Definitely worth working into the itinerary.

2022-02-05Ive passed this place hundreds of times on the way to the mountains, and this was the first time we stopped. The restaurant and bar are cozy, and it has a homey vibe. The river views were unbeatable and visible from our table. The food was excellent, including the burgers and shrimp cocktail. The French onion soup was perfect for a chilly day, and my daughters French dip was delicious and quite large.

2022-06-22This is one of those places you will never forget. What an amazing find! Literally the best meal I’ve ever had with an amazing view! We just happened to be staying across the street and thought we would try it. Went back the next night too😊. Highly highly recommend.

2022-04-19If your expectations are NY 5 star; then yes, it is a good idea to take high heels on a camping trip (sarcasm).Great place, close to nature. A tad bit expensive, but CA, right?Definitely worth stopping in for a meal by the creek. And, some beer of course 😉

2022-06-07My husband and I have been stopping at this restaurant for years after our hiking days at the Sequoias . Always felt comfortable with great atmosphere and friendly staff. We have always loved to order our calamari appetizer but this time we found out they have changed it into O-rings you get less and the price went up . They had plenty of new staff but not friendly they wouldn’t even acknowledge us and we noticedthey smiled and talked to the people on the other tables. We don’t mind spending money there but now I’ll think twice before I take my grandkids and kids there. My family has loved it there all this years . I truly hope they hire nicer staff. I know we’ll give it another try let’s see how it goes because knowing me I will post another review.

2022-04-01This place was awesome. I was skeptical based on some other reviews, but I honestly don’t know what people were complaining about. Everyone was super friendly and the food was on point. I had the French onion soup and a ribeye. Both were fantastic. This combined with the river front view, and the fact that you are in a very small town 1/4 mile from a National Park- you really can’t go wrong. No, it was not inexpensive, but well worth it. I would totally go back in a heartbeat. Thank you Derek for the excellent service.

2022-04-10It’s been awhile since I have been here. I was visiting for the weekend and wanted to see how it grown. First appearance was the staff. Very short, non communicative, and there was a lot of staff around so there were fully stocked on that end. Our server Jordan seemed to be caring more about what was on his phone then assisting us. Never came over to see if we wanted anything or never came over at all. Like we weren’t worth his time. The busboy was very friendly and responsive. The food was good, a little pricey. Only go if you want to spend $15 or more on apps. The views were great. It’s nice to look out at the river. At a little outdated. Kid friendly for those wanting to know.Large wine selection and bar to enjoy. So if you want to get drinks that’s a good place. Customer service needs some work though. Staff just seemed like they didn’t want to do their jobs.Just some mixed thoughts. There’s plenty of places growing in Three Rivers where this isn’t the only place anymore.

2022-06-20Surrounded by a 90 degree turn in the river, which is unique. Love all the large boulders too. Food was very good and service was great. Not the fanciest place, but appropriate considering its location. If you find a very talkative gentleman in town named Art. Hell let you know about it, lol.

2022-03-19Good food, great atmosphere outdoor dining. Service was good. Prices are a bit high but understand the location thing. I didnt like the automatic tip for a party of six, restaurants should earn the tip, not expect it.Otherwise, it was a good experience

2022-06-04Unexpected find just outside of the Sequoia National Park entrance. Quaint spot along the rocks of Kaweah River. We had a delicious lunch one day, and went back for dinner the next, on the outdoor patio. Our servers, Tim and Taylor were great! Don’t pass this by if you are on your way into or out of the park!

2022-04-06TOP 10 Google ReviewerAbsolutely beautiful views from this lovely place!!! 😳👍👍👍As the weather was perfect for outdoor dining I got a table near the entrance that overlooks the river meandering towards the old bridge... omg, I love this place!Seriously, I could easily spend the majority of my days writing book after book from this one vantage point and never leave. The mesmerizing sound of the river being so close, the stellar views, the freshness of spring, and the yummy-ness of my overloaded Bistro Salad make this stop a #1 requirement next time Im in the area!!!The staff was very accommodating and absolutely professional, thank you!👍👍👍👍👍I strongly recommend the Gateway Restaurant & Lounge when visiting the Sequoias. 👍👍👍👍👍
