Staff is great and the atmosphere is nothing but positive. Whether you want a workout or to learn how to fight, you’re still welcomed. They also have their own strength and conditioning gym that will put you in the best shape of your life. I’ve brought multiple friends here and they all loved it. 100% recommend you give it a shot.
World class! From the instructors to the facility to the equipment, it’s the best fully equipped Real fight gym in San Diego. If you want to compete in combat sports or be trained by and with those that do, you can’t go wrong with the Arena. Best place in SD to train period.
This gym is legit! Baret and all the instructors are beyond qualified and they are all excellent. The instruction is of the highest quality in the region. Theres no BS or fluff at this gym. It one of the most legit, straightforward businesses Ive ever interacted with. Definitely worth twice what they actually charge for a membership.
Excellent gym! Been coming here for just a year and I can honestly say it’s the best gym I’ve been to. The membership allows you to practice any classes. And on top of that, it has a weights gym and conditioning classes. People here are welcoming wether you’re just starting out or you have some experience, this gym is like a home outside of home
Great gym for both beginners and competitors. I had the opportunity to check out several different gyms throughout San Diego, and felt that this was the best gym for focusing on the fundamentals of striking, and actually developing good kick-boxing technique.Whereas many of the other gyms I visited held boxing practices that were filled with occasional push-ups and burpees, Arena’s coaches (Chuck, Vince) wasted no time, and focused on drilling techniques and mastering the basics. They are always willing to stay back and work through technique problems if asked.Due to the nature of the sport, there are many newcomers who try out the striking practices and decide it isn’t for them. As a result, it would be difficult for the coaches to try to connect with so many new athletes in their first days. Rest assured, after just 2 weeks of consistent attendance, I’ve felt that the coaches often step in to provide individualized feedback for my improvement. Great coaches who are true masters of the sport, and willing to put in the time to help you improve as long as you are consistently showing up and working. Finally, they offer a variety of different classes at different times with various coaches, helping me to find multiple perspectives on the sport while staying at one gym, and always able to find a time to get in and practice despite my inconsistent work schedule. Easily my favorite MMA gym in San Diego.
I highly recommend the Arena since day one I have felt very welcomed the boxing coach is very knowledgeable and patient takes time to help and make you feel comfortable as a beginner. Very clean gym the workout gym section is the nicest I have been to. Very good equipment.
I have been going here for about 4 months now and I really enjoy this gym. From the instructors to the members, everyone gets along and is here to improve themselves and each other. Good atmosphere for training. A big plus is all the different classes they offer in one place. So far I have done wrestling, no gi jiu Jitsu, boxing and kickboxing and there are still other arts to try out. I would recommend The Arena for both newbies and the experienced.
The arena has amazing coaches and the classes are fun and engaging. I have learned and grown a lot over the past year of training at the Arena. They do an amazing job training and refining every one who comes in. I am extremely thankful for everyone here and honored to have the opportunity to come train at the Arena.
Wow.. thanks I first came here about 2 years ago. I have since been here and love the instructors. They know how to teach to say the least. I have tried the boxing and just began the wrestling. They have state champions military and highly skilled athletes.I recommend coming here for sure for the boxing and for the wrestling
Great place to train, learn, and sharpen your skills.I love that my team and my coaches are all such humble assassins that are recognized at the highest level of competition and they’re just out here putting in work and leading by example. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I’ve been going to this gym for over two years now and can say without a doubt it’s the best choice I’ve ever made. I’ve done every class they offer and none of the them disappoint. They all have fantastic coaches and are great at getting people from all levels and experiences up to speed
Been training here for three years. Really great value for $99 which includes unlimited classes to include the weight room which has 21 squat racks plus Westside equipment, sleds, kettlebells over 100 lbs. Great wrestling instruction with numerous ex college wrestlers and high level MMA and BJJ competitors with world champions to include Barry Yoshida and Liz Camouche.
The Arena Jiu-Jitsu program is amazing. Baret Yoshida is truly an amazing instructor with his acute attention to detail. I’ve also never seen a head instructor teach all the classes through out the day ~ everyday during the week.I’ve definitely seen my game progress because of the structure of the class. No traditional warm up, (beginner class only). Right into technique, and we drill the technique a lot. Not just for a few minutes and on to the next like most schools. We then positional drill those techniques with resistance. I know some schools do that sometimes. In a Baret Yoshida class, you do it every class. Then it’s on to rolls!Great gym, great people. Highly recommend
Started going to the arena for the wrestling classes, only place that really offers them after high school in the San Diego area. Since then I have been to the jiu jitsu and mma classes and have loved them all. Everyone is very welcoming and pushing for you to try new things and become better.
Pretty great facilities! Everything is clean, the weight room is spacious (it even has a big fan), mats are wiped between rolls, the value is amazing. The front desk guy, Ken, is really nice & easy to talk to.GO FOR THE MONTHLY PAYMENT. Dont lock yourself into a 2 year agreement unless youre super committed & your life is stable. The cancelation process is hell.Pretty diverse mix of people that attend this gym, but I didnt really feel comfortable with the people there. You will encounter people that wont hold back against beginners (a-holes). I got choked & tapped multiple times, the guy still didnt let go until I forced him off. Some of the kickboxers are a-holes that will put you in excessive pain during simple beginner exercises because they can. Overall, I encountered a lot of people there that had more strength than sense. I also dont recommend this place for LGBTQ+ people, based on my personal experience - I would like to emphasize that the staff had no part that, it is simply the clientele. Finally, do not even think about cancelling! ABC Fitness (The Arenas financial service company) is the worst company. I canceled due to a move, then ABC decides that my documents were insufficient, failed to notify me, then continued to charge me for 2 months. They then tell me they had the wrong email, even though I sent it to them multiple times & they were able to verify it. Now, they have finally processed my cancelation & they tell me that I need to pay a $99 cancelation fee PLUS ANOTHER MONTH. Somehow, this is all still my fault and I have to pay 5 months of club dues (that Im not even a part of any more) due to ABCs incompetence.EDIT: Ken completely solved my issue with ABC and I even got refunded for the period I spent waiting for a response. He ended a 4-month ordeal in 2 days. Hes amazing & I cant thank him enough. He even asked me to elaborate on the LGBTQ issue I had. I never got back to you, but here it is: lots of guys here are homophobic or just insensitive with their words. Heard the f slur a few times in passing and other dehumanizing things said mocking gay men and feminine behavior. No aggression was ever pointed directly at me, as I didnt come out to anyone there (no reason to at a gym, really).
Love this gym, no better place to train in SD. They offer all kinds of classes throughout the day so you can definitely find something that works for Abby schedule. Coach Bryan is an amazing jiu jitsu coach teaching the 4:30 gi fundamentals and you have the legend Master Baret Yoshida teaching gi and nogi throughout the day . This is the place to train!
The instruction in this gym is the best in San Diego. With Baret yoshida teaching all the gi and no gi classes it is truly an honor. The kickboxing and mma team is coached by chuck Martinez and Vince Salvador and they are amazing coaches bringing every aspect of my mma game up tremendously.
Man honestly i have been looking for a new gym home since i left Tx, this place is great i’ve only been here a week and can see all the growth and how they are about to turn me into a monster. Plenty of coaches, affordable and overall good staff/members . I look forward to putting in hours.
The best gym in San Diego. Dedicated staff and World class trainers for each program offered. I’ve been to many gyms over the last 15 years of training and this place is unmatched. I train Brazilian jiu jitsu under living legend Baret Yoshida which is an amazing experience! The facility is massive and their strength and conditioning room could be a separate gym on its own. If you have any interest in training martial arts do yourself a favor and check this place out.
I am very happy that I joined The Arena last September (2018). Sure, it doesnt smell so pretty ...there is grunting, groaning, sweat on the ground (ugh). But there is true instruction, learning and growing on every level that is happening everyday. What they invest in is the coaches, students, fighters and the staff. Not the fluff. The gym is wonderfully diverse with many different cultures and backgrounds. You will immediately see that when you walk in. So you will never feel like you are different or that others will not accept you. You will also need to make the effort to join in. No hand holding here.Of course, The Arena is not for everyone. So I suggest that you set up an appointment for a tour and maybe take a class. Have your list of questions and concerns. They will honestly answer those questions/concerns and will not force or guilt you to join like other places do. It is your choice.
Didn’t get the opportunity to train but when walking in the staff was rude and very short with any response. Online it says free 30 days, that’s it. Let me tell you it’s not free their prices are to keep you locked in contract for up to 2 years! They DON’T have a day pass or trial period. So I walked out for 2 reasons. 1st being how rude they were. 2nd being they don’t have a day pass or trial period. If they only have a 1 year or 2 year contract, why would I feel comfortable being locked in on something that I have no idea if they are teaching good stuff. I heard great things but didn’t have a great experience! They need to work on customer service and may be a better business plan.
Super clean and professional MMA GYM. Best one in San Diego. Just signed up for Two more years, with classes that start at 6:30am to 10pm, it’s perfect for my busy schedule. Coach Chuck and Coach Vince are the Mauy Thai instructors and I look forward to there classes every day!
The Arena is the top combat gym around, best coaches and facility hands down. Coach Joe is a well of knowledge and experience, and it’s a privilege work with him and Gordo as well as their fighters. The extensive class scheduling works for anyones busy routine. If youre dedicate and willing to put in the work- The Arena and its experienced team will help you step up your game. Stoked to be training here w the best of the best. Also, Ducky is nice.
State of the art facility, extremely spacious, clean, all the equipment is nice and new they are constantly updating and adding new things to make the gym even better (if that was even possible). They have some of the best if not the best coaches in the game, they are walking encyclopedias of fighting knowledge with decades of fighting and training experience. If you train here i garentee that you will not regret it its physically impossible not to get better. By far the premier fight gym in san diego and one of the top in all of southern california. They really set the bar high. This is by far the most complete martial arts training facility in Southern California
Terrible customer service. The fact that they don’t take care of their finances themselves (they use a third party) makes it VERY difficult if you need to cancel. They made me get a new dmv ID just to prove I had moved, even though I had separation orders and San Diego was not my hometown. I solved this issue after many many emails, an extra 2 months of membership fees and practically begging them to cancel it. Even tho this has been solved, my friend is dealing with a similar situation with them as well, and figured it was time to share my experience.
Take the rating with a grain of salt, as I don’t know what the training is like. Visiting from out of town, stopped by to see if I could get some training in, but was told they are not accepting any drop-ins or guests *even with proof of vaccination or a negative test result*. For some reason, they are accepting new students who will sign longer contracts, which does not make much sense to me, if the goal is infection control. Either way, it would’ve been helpful to post that warning prominently on the website. From what I could tell, the facility is spacious and looks quite nice.
Best wrestling gym in San Diego. I absolutely love everything about this gym, from the huge amount of classes to their incredibly fair pricing. Now they added a 2nd wrestling coach to their program, both recent graduates of D1 wrestling programs. And theyre also doubling the size of their wrestling room, with the equivalent of 2 collegiate mats. Cant ask for much more.
I came to the arena last year to learn jujitsu and Muay Thai. My first experience since day one was amazing. The people, instructors, and staff were fantastic. I Unfortunately had to leave for personal reasons but I plan to return July if possible. I would recommend this spot for anyone looking to get into MMA, boxing, or just get fit.
Ive been a member at the Arena since Nov. 2014. This gym has so many classes that it is a great place for beginners and seasoned martial artists alike. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and martial artists themselves so its great to see them be passionate and practice what they preach. Very rarely do you meet a member and not see them later on a few months afterwards, which helps create a great sense of community and knowing that youll always have a great group of training partners when needed. The instructors are top-notch with so much experience, youll be yearning to learn more. The facilities themselves are always well-kept and clean. The gym also have a strict hygiene policy which is nice to see. I cant imagine a better place to be training in the greater San Diego area.
As a first time student in MMA, The Arena welcomed me with a free trial to see their classes and what they offer. I must say I was beyond impressed during my first day and felt very welcomed by the coaches, staff, and members of the gym. Since the first day I started, everyone in the gym is always willing to help one another. The coaches instruct the class as a whole and walk around to further explain and instruct techniques. Overall, if you come here with a positive attitude and ready to learn, you will find this gym to be the option for you. Whether youre here to compete or just here to learn the sport, The Arena coaches, staff, and members treat you with much respect. With that being said, Im beyond 100% satisfied with my decision in joining The Arena.
I was very picky about where I wanted to train and spend my money, so I did some research. The Arena has the best schedule. If I cant make my regular class for whatever reason, I dont stress out because I know that I will be able to make it to another class later in the day. The quality of instructors is amazing. Each one there is at the top of their sport. Lastly, the atmosphere is inviting, and everyone there wants you to succeed. It truly is a team. I highly recommend this gym.
I have been coming to this gym so far for two weeks and all I can say is the best gym in San Diego. Whether you want to just learn or compete, this is your gym! The coaches have you learning the fundamentals in an easy step by step manner. The staff is great! Every time I leave the gym I have a smile. Trust me you will have fun! Also, if you got no gear than no problem because they have lender equipment. Just need to show up.
This gym is excellent. I came here as a beginner, and everyone has been extremely nice and pleasant to work with. I picked this gym for their boxing classes, and I love them. All the coaches are extremely helpful and nice and want you to get better. This isnt a gym with a workout video. Its a gym that actually helps you train and learn. It is a safe environment for both males and females, and I highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in learning how to box. The trainers, the staff, and all the members at this gym are great. There are no egos at this gym. I have been with this gym since last summer, and I plan on staying!
There are too many good things so say about the Arena, from the staff to the fellow students, this gym has an amazing group of people. Classes to fit your schedule. Clean and professional atmosphere with world class instructors that dedicate there time and efforts into their students. I am grateful to be treated like family. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone who wants quality training with a great group of people.
The Arena is by far the BEST martial arts gym I have ever been to. I have always enjoyed training in boxing and after experiencing 2 other boxing gyms (prefer not to say) The Arena blew them out of the water. Their coaches and trainers are experienced and overall great people. They push you to get the best out of you and work with people from all types of experience levels. Whether youre a beginner or a pro fighter they are great at helping you reach your full potential. They also offer amazing Muy Thai, MMA, and also weight lifting and conditioning classes and all the instructors are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and they help you feel part of a large MMA community/family. Dont hesitate. Go check out The Arena! You wont be disappointed!
The Arena is an amazing gym with exceptional facilities and an atmosphere that fosters growth and deters ego. Ive been training here a few months and by far I am most impressed with the coaching staff. The coaches are patient, approachable, and extremely knowledgeable in their disciplines. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone wanting to train for competition or just to meet fitness goals.
One of the best decisions Ive made in my life is to walk through the doors of the Arena and sign up for a 2 year commitment. I am a personal trainer that loves being fit and challenged physically physically but I never knew the I could push my body to the next level like I do at the Arena. The classes are amazing and the instructors the best in the industry. One of the most greatest things that I have found is that I am now a part of an close knit community. Ive never met a group of people who have been so welcoming and respectful to each other. No matter what skill level everyone who goes there are always willing to help so I feel as if I have a personal trainer always helping me. I am now the in the best shape of my life and I look forward to learning new skills every day. Im an extremely happy gym member and I hope more people walk through the Arena doors to have the same life changing experience I have had! I will be forever thankful.
Arena Mma is cut above the rest. Coach joe and his son Louis are amazing boxing coaches. Baret submissions is beyond expectations!!Jason conditioning and fitness instruction is next level. This is a fight gym. You will become your very best. The facility is like no other!!! From David at the front desk, to the coaches and cleaning staff your in great hands. I recommend this to all, if you want to take it to the next level!!!Thank you!!
This gym is incredible! It works for very advanced fighters and for beginners like myself. It has a wide variety of martial arts for you to choose from and at various times of the day. The people there are friendly and the coaches patient and very skilled. This is my first fighting gym I have joined as an adult and I have enjoyed it a lot so far. An overall well rounded gym.
Im a bit biased because I have been a student of Barets for many years, but The Arena is one of the best run martial arts gyms Ive ever been to. The facility is always clean, has world class instructors who all leave their egos at the door and become students the minute they walk in. The rest of the staff, and manager Mike are fantastic, they keep the morale high and competitive, but still friendly and welcoming for new members. The location is great; plenty of parking, near lots of healthy food, and easy freeway access. Im thankful to be part of The Arena family and look forward to many more years there.
The Arena is one of the best MMA gyms to train at. I use to train at another studio and the hours of operation didnt line up with my constant change in schedule. The Arena has a stacked schedule, theres a class every hour! The facility is very clean, recently upgraded their striking side of the gym with some very legit gear as well as new mats for both striking and grappling ends. Individual showers are a plus. I really enjoy the environment, train with a lot of cool guys on and off the mats. Im honored to train at such an arena with the crew and under amazing coaches.
This gym has the best combination of facilities, people, and instruction around. The instructors are second to none. They do a great job of teaching anyone no matter what level their skill level, whether you are a complete novice off the street to a seasoned professional. The facilities are some of the best you’ll encounter anywhere in the country. The mat space is large, open, and clean. The showers are clean. Sometimes classes get crowded but thats to be expected when youre training at one of if not the best Combat Sports/MMA gym in the country.I give THE ARENA MMA my highest recommendation.
Ive been looking to get back into a boxing gym for some time now. Came across The Arena while doing an internet search & decided to go check them out. So glad I did. Super friendly staff & a clean gym. Instructors are super cool also & everyone is very friendly, even for a newcomer like myself. If youve been wanting to get into a boxing gym definitely check this place out.
When I moved to San Diego I signed up at a different gym and after only 2 weeks I was looking for a new place to train. From the moment I stepped foot inside of the Arena MMA I new I was home. There is a great vibe from the front desk guys who are knowledgeable about all of the classes/disciplines as they also train. The Coaches are all world class (and some world champions) level and as approachable as can be. Also, enough good cant be said about management and the Owner! Always making sure we have the best of the best to train with, top of the line equipment, new mats, outsourced prof. cleaning crew! If youre serious about training and youre not at the Arena MMA, then you cant be that serious.
I love training at The Arena. Everyone there is friendly, and all the staff are professional and treat you like family. The coaching is amazing and the wealth of knowledge they have to offer is incredible. There is a wide variety of disciplines offered and theres almost always classes going on so finding something to fit your shedule is convenient. This place is worth every penny and I couldnt recommend it enough!
Ive been going to The Arena for a almost a year now. This gym doesnt compare to any other MMA gyms in San Diego, they have a variety of classes that are held all throughout the day. Facility is very well kept up and clean, front desk is excellent, and the instructors know what they are teaching. Not only do you get a good workout every time, you will leave class feeling amazing since most of the time its an entire body workout. Pros and different fighters come in to sparr which is always fun to just watch.I highly recommend stopping by to check it out, and maybe even trying a class!
The awesome energy and knowledge that you get in the Arena is outstanding. From the people that train here, the staff to the world-class coaches, everyone is friendly and eager to help you with anything. They have an impressive gym facility that’s kept clean and well taken care of. Classes are always intense while always having fun. Regardless of the level of athlete that you are if you are looking for top notch training with a very fun and inspiring environment the Arena is the place for you!
Ive been a member for a few months and this place has far succeeded my expectations.I consider this gym to be my home away from home, all the coaches are extremely welcoming and motivating. The second you walk through the door and start training you get a feeling of camaraderie and all the egos are left at the door. Wether youre a beginner or an experienced fighter this place is perfect for everyone and if youre looking to master the martial arts or just get in the overall best shape of your life then this place is perfect for you.
Amazing training center! Facilities are best in San Diego by far! Great coaches, great people. Everyone here acknowledges we are all beginners at some point. everybody who trains here is very understanding, helpful, and always ready to train hard. I love it here. When it comes to Mixed Martial Arts gym, The Arena is perfection!
I started here about a year ago and can only say great things about the Arena MMA. First its super clean and when youre training gym hygiene is a must. Second the staff is so cool. Super helpful for when youre having a bad day in life or at the gym. 3rd its affordable but when it comes to changing your life and becoming something better you cant really put a price on that. Also there are classes for any schedule and if youre a fight fan like me always high level athletes stopping by and training. So come in and check it out.
This is a great gym, whether you are an experienced fighter or just starting out. The coaches and staff are all very knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate when it comes to training. Great facility with two boxing rings, punching bags, speed bags and almost everything else you need. Without a doubt this is one of the best gyms to train at.
The Arenas facilities, instructors and classes are absolutely the best in the San Diego area. Very professional and friendly, even with some of the larger class sizes the instructors will do their best to pay attention to everyone, regardless of skill level. This being said, I would advise that you only sign up if you are serious about MMA training, and know that you will attend enough classes for the monthly cost to be worth it, and that you will be staying in the area for a while. Definitely take advantage of the 30 day trial and dont let them sell you on a membership until you are certain that youll be able to get in there often enough and that it is something you want to pursue. The management system/company they use for membership is a bear to deal with when cancelling a membership. The Arena itself requires a 30 day notice of cancellation, which is fine. However, the management company requires hard-copy proof that you are leaving the area of the gym, and they want you to mail it to them at some odd location where they are based. There is no way to do this online, the Arena can not do it for you at their location. I understand that this system is in place to protect the gym from flakes/frauds/dishonest people that would probably sign up and quit like crazy if they had the opportunity, but it does make it difficult for folks like me that just turned out not to have the time or energy at the end of the day to make it in on a regular basis.
Great place to learn a new sport. The instructors and other students are incredibly helpful and kind. I was intimidated at first being the only female in a class with high ranking students but everyone has just been awesome! Gym is super clean, tons of equipment, PLENTY of classes- can’t go wrong.
I joined this gym a few months ago and it has everything I was looking for. Friendly staff and knowledgeable and world-class coaches who are willing to show you around and teach you the ropes, and thats whether its your first day or youre trying to go pro. Members are cool too and make you feel like youre joining a family. Been to a lot of gyms and I know I made the right choice here. Excited to see where this gym takes me.
I wanted to delay my review of the gym until after I took a couple of classes. My opinion is based on my experience at others MMA gyms and a couple of years of experience in the martial arts. I took a conditioning course which was awesome. The instructor walked me through all of the exercises and paced me based on my fitness level. My experience was great and I am going back. I also took a boxing and BJJ class. The BJJ class was taught by an currently active MMA fighter. The class was moderate in size, but the instructor still gave students one on one attention. I was not expecting the instructor to be as attentive as he was. The gym and students are lucky to have him. The boxing class was also taught by an instructor with extensive fight credentials. I am not as familiar with the boxing world and did not know the instructor’s pedigree until I researched a little and found out who he was. However, I could tell the guy was world class when I met him. Last but not least. I wanted to review the front desk crew. No pressure sales. Knowledgeable and good dude. He was the first reason I considered the gym when I got there. He is the face of the gym. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to start out in the arts or get ready for a [professional]fight. Awesome!
Website says“First 30 Days Free”I showed up expecting to jump in a class but after the tour they show me the pricing and there’s an awkward pause.I ask if I can’t jump in the Muay Thai class and get a “No”Apparently the First 30 Days is after you SIGN UP AND PAY $100-150 for the membership/initiation fee.So I wasted my time going there with no class or anything. Lol.The 30 days free after you sign up was not mentioned on the website AT ALL. Word for word it says “Get your first 30 days free, Just fill out the form below”Nothing about a membership fee or initiation fee. Sorry but I’m not going to pay for something that I don’t even get to try out. Especially when there are reviews of people having trouble with their billing company ABC Financials. Very sketchy to me
The gym is very clean and organized. There is a consistent schedule that is easy to work around depending on if you want a morning or night class. Everyone is very welcoming and I truly feel like I get to partake in a family atmosphere. I attend the classes that can have quite a few people in it, depending, but at the same time still getting alot of person to person feedback on where I need improvement.
Best gym in San Diego, hands down. No one else is even close. From the quality of the training and coaches to the overall vibe and friendliness to the honesty and integrity of everything The Arena does. If youre serious about learning from true masters of their craft, this is the best choice. Also, you will find a true brotherhood here, which is rare indeed. But if youre not the type to train hard or you want something for nothing, then go look elsewhere. This is a real place for real fighters or those who truly want to learn the arts.
I cant tell you about the classes because I never got to join. I signed up for a trial class online and showed up at the time I had scheduled. I told the front desk and he told me they arent doing trial classes. Fix your website to say that if you arent open for trial classes.Edit: I felt like it was unfair, so im upgrading. What the gym offers sounds great, and the size is large. I do wish they would update their website, cause I dont really understand why they couldnt notify me that no trial classes were available despite me booking online.
This place is awesome! With work and life I try to find my way in when I can, I love the PowerBuild and FightBuild classes! They really focus on your goals and help you reach them whatever they may be. The staff is super friendly and this is definitely a welcoming gym. I would recommend this gym to any skill level and to any person looking to make a healthy change! Price is great for the quality gym and coaches you get, this place is definitely worth a try!
Been training there on and off for about 2 years now. They have an amazing facility and so many classes it can fit anyones schedule! The staff is welcoming, friendly, and super helpful! The coaches are also very friendly and overflowing with knowledge to help you get to your peak performance! Ive been able to work and excel at my Jiu-jitsu with Master Baret Yoshida and work my angles in Striking with coach Vince and Kru Mark, Im so impressed by how far my martial arts have come from joining this gym. Im always greated by smiling faces, for sure my 2nd home! Definitely going to be training here for years to come.I would highly recommend this place to all levels from beginner to pro! 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
READ YOUR MEMBERSHIP CONTRACT CAREFULLY!They require 30 days notice and a written letter sent by certified mail to Arkansas to cancel membership. All membership fees incurred during 30 days are paid by member as well as an additional $50 cancellation fee.Nice gym though. They have a top notch facility and great coaches. The training at this gym is truly second to none. Dont let the membership contracts scare you off right away.
I’ve been looking for a mix martial arts gym for training, and i got a lot of recommendations from friends about this gym.Once i walked in for the first time, i felt like a second home. The profesional crew were so nice and welcomed me.You can find all the kinds of classes in this gym, in the highest level, with the most professionals coaches. There is fundamentals classes and advanced classes, for boxing, muy Thai, jiu jitsu and much more!I enjoy and love this gym more and more every time i go.Definitely highly recommend to join the Arena family, beginners and pros!
My wife and I have been coming here for a little over 2 yrs. now. We did the military 2 yr. contract for 79/month to save us a little bit of money. So far it has worked out for us, and we have seen a lot of good changes since we started. The strength and conditioning program is incomparable to anywhere else I have ever been. The fact that I have been able to stay at one gym and continue taking classes from the same instructor for 2yrs. speaks volumes. The schedule for any of the other classes are very forgiving, usually classes in the mornings repeat in the afternoons. I havent tried out the Muay Thai or BJJ class, but the boxing coaches are some of the best out there. They are patient and focus on good technique before anything else but based off of the pedigree of all the coaches, you will get a good experience regardless if you participate in Muay Thai, BJJ, Boxing, or Wrestling. Without a doubt this gym has become a corner stone for our daily life. We wouldnt switch if you paid us. Definitely check out Coach Andys strength and conditioning class.... its painful in all the best ways.
The Arena is a wondeful gym that leaves you feelig satisfied after every workout class. It’s definitely a positive environment and the instructors are more than helpful and teach you so much about discipline! I appreciate that their classes are scheduled throughout the day which makes it easier for someone who schedules vary. Definitely worth getting a membership if you are planning to be fit and stay in shape!
I have had the experience to train at several other gyms in San Diego. I see there are a lot of complaints with ABC financial. In my experience after a year of training it was easy to end my contract. Every gym needs to make money. It just is what it is. Other gyms have much more extensive means in regards to getting out of contract. To the point that you just want to rip your hair out. Now, in regards to the training you have so many people that trains at The Arena with so many different styles, and classes that it is an amazing gym to take part in. If you are looking to just get fit or become a fighter this is the place. The experience people have in this place is through the roof. Dont have an ego and you will have a great experience. If you are just a loud mouth douche head over to Golds Gym and get you pump on. Highly recommended and I will be back mid May to get back to my training after being in Arizona for University. Respect
I started at the Arena a few months back, looking for a place where I could learn to actually fight. I practiced some martial arts as a kid but had not done any intensive workouts for about 20 years. The instructors at the Arena are great teachers. They do not coddle, and are always very real, both in the manner in which they teach and with the content of the classes. I have taken classes in Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing and Filipino Martial Arts (Eskrima/Kali), and all of the teachers are expert and instill confidence that you are learning worthwhile techniques and drilling for necessary conditioning. Coach Willie, Coach Charles, Coach Henry, Coach Tone and Coach Joe are all seasoned professionals and good people. The facility itself is well maintained, and the class schedule is awesome. I love that classes begin a 6am and run all day on the weekdays. I am looking forward to the next couple years of training as my time here so far has been one of the best learning experiences of my life! Thanks to everybody who works so hard to make The Arena happen.
Great gym if you want to some training done properly. Everyone is pretty chill and willing to help each other out. The teachers will inspire you to get better at what youre trying to do, plus compared to other gyms the price aint that bad. Would recommend if youre serious about training.
5 star combat sports gym; I tried a couple other gyms in the area before here and none have come close. They have a huge amount of classes where there is always one to fit your schedule. Instructors are great and everyone is very welcoming. If your interested in any combat sport in the area this is the gym to go to.
Learned more in 3 months at Arena than I did in 3 years at my previous gym.I’m pretty un-athletic but after training for 3 months at The Arena, I was able to compete (and win) in my amateur MMA debut. I credit it all to my coaches and training partners at Arena. Not only are the coaches world-class, they genuinely care about the success and well-being of their students. Countless times, my coaches went out of their way to help teach me things that I was struggling with.On top of that my training partners were top-notch, consistently pushing me to the next level. Everyone seems to share the same goal of learning and growing. The result is a strong community with a tradition of winning.I cannot say enough good things about The Arena. It’s by far the best gym and community I’ve ever been a part of.
This is a great gym with very affordable pricing. The hours are the best Ive ever seen for a martial arts gym and the classes have a lot of diversity. The instructors here are very knowledgeable and friendly, they take time out to focus on new people to make sure that theyre getting their time and moneys worth.
Such a great atmosphere for fighters of all levels. From novice to pro fighter it breeds a space that invites all to learn, grow, and fight their hearts out. The coaches are helpful and engaging. Each fighter is focused on getting better and learning together. Theres a great schedule and I have ended up spending hours in different classes, with great trainers!
This place is amazing. Its a huge facility with 2 boxing rings and a ton of heavy bags. The other half of the gym is dedicated to grappling with a miniature octagon in the back. They have different classes that run all day at different experience levels so everyone can participate. Most importantly theres no pretension. Everyone there just wants to improve and help others. Truly a gem in San Diego. Stop by for a free class!
The Arena has a very diverse set of classes with a wide range of times giving me freedom to go just about anytime. Enrollment also gives me access to the full gym and all its classes so I can pick and choose each day what I want to focus on. I appreciate freedom like this in a gym.The people you come across at this gym are friendly. The coaches and staff are knowledgeable, relaxed, and funny. So I can ask questions, get pointers, and be entertained. The coaches are always observing the entire time and coming by each group to give pointers instead of demonstrating a technique and then leaving the mats to do something else. They are also not smug or dismissive to questions. The members of the gym are overall relaxed with plenty to learn from and theyre willing to give you advice if you ask.Overall Ive enjoyed being a part of this gym and feel that Ive progressed and learnt alot in many different areas of combat sports. Highly recommended!
This gym is amazing if you plan on competing in any combat sport, or if youre looking for real self-defense ability. The instruction for each discipline is great. Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, muay thai/kickboxing, judo, mma, etc. They probably have the most available classes w/the largest variety of combat sports of any gym in San Diego. The instruction is all quality too. Its a fighters gym, so theres plenty of guys there who will test you & help you get better as youre learning as well. Many other gyms with cardio kickboxing type programs may have legit technical classes too, but the clientele they attract arent always the type to test you that youd be able to defend yourself in real situations. HOWEVER, some do also have those tough individuals while also offering more amenities. For example, this gym does not have full locker rooms/showers, nor saunas, or those supplemental beneficial classes like yoga. Its purely combat, which is not good or bad, it just is.They are pretty expensive though. You could say they have that cost because of the amount of available classes, but the average person will only train 3 disciplines. Other gyms, nearby too, have many of the same classes & quality- in addition to having a sauna & locker rooms. It all comes down to instructor preference & what you can afford. I like these instructors & students, so I stay.
This is one of the best gyms in San Diego hands down. The coachs here are very helpful and informative from grappling to striking to the strength and conditioning class. Ive been coming to The Arena for a few years now and I can say that the coachs here dedicated to their teachings and to anyone who wants to learn. Besides the coachs another good thing about The Arena is that the gym members and fighters are also helpful. The facility is big enough to divide the room into two section, the grappling side (run by coach Baret and Jake) and the striking side (run by coach Vince, Charles, Joe and Kru Mark). The strength and conditioning class is in a warehouse with plenty of toys run by coach Andy. If your looking for a gym to get into shape and learn new things The Arena is the place to be.
I really enjoy training at the arena. I am a student at UCSD and the many classes that the arena offers allows me to train while attending classes which is amazing. Plus there is world class coaches there like UFC legend Chris Leben and Jiu Jitsu legend Baret Yoshida just to name a couple. The staff and students there is very friendly and willing to help any way they can.
As a beginner fighter thats a few weeks into my membership, I can tell you that I love The Arena and that I already feel at home here. All of the staff & coaches have been respectful & friendly. The other members of the gym have also been friendly & helpful in helping me to learn new martial arts.I already feel more confident when walking down the street & I love the absolute smorgasbord selection of classes... 150 a week! On a whim, I can go learn some grappling, submission or not, gi or not... some striking... Thai, American, Dutch... whatever I want, whenever I want. Also, unlike another nearby MMA gym, The Arena offers Judo classes. And you know... Ju cant use what judo know! The Arena has top instructors for each discipline that are 100% sold-out, all-in. Some are there seven days a week! Their Muay Thai / Muay Boran coach is straight-up from Thailand and has been training for 50+ years. Their Judo coach is a 6th-degree black belt from Poland. The MMA / wrestling coach is an actual UFC & bare knuckle fighter. I could keep going, but you should stop wasting your time reading reviews and just come check out The Arena for yourself today!
I’ve started training at this gym about 2.5 months ago and I love it! They have classes available all day, which is rare and accommodating. I’ve learned so much more than I’ve been able to learn at other places. The instructors are great! They help beginners but expect you to put your part in. It’s combat training so it should be this way. If there is leeway people don’t get ahead so I really like this.
The arena is a world-class facility with world-class people and world-class coaching. The atmosphere of the gym is absolutely amazing everyone is so friendly and eager to help. There are multiple classes a week and can fit even the most busy person schedule. I would recommend is Jim from anyone who is beginning all the way up to professional fighters
If you are looking for Top notch training this is the place to go!Very friendly and Incredibly knowledgeable staff. I used to practice at a karate studio, and when I began training at the arena my skill levels went off the chart. The prices are affordable and you can get a class in almost anytime...
I have met some amazing people at this gym. From Mike to Jamarr, truly some of the nicest people you would ever meet. After only a few minutes, you become family, not strangers. With more classes than you could possibly take, there is ALWAYS opportunities to learn, train, and gain more understanding. I LOVE this gym, the people, and what they are doing here. I love it so much, that my girlfriend and I are moving to San Diego to be closer for training. That’s right... I currently srive2 hours to attend both classes and private lessons. That’s how much I love these guys! Do yourselves a favor... just open the door and say “hi”... you won’t regret it!
I first got introduced to the gym by my brother. I was a bit nervous first going in, as for not having any combat sports experience, but the staff has been nothing but friendly and helpful. I mainly just train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Baret Yoshida. The way he teaches, you can tell that he really wants every student to succeed. The schedule of classes works out great, accommodating for the mornings and the nights, you can always find time for a class. Coming into a combats sports environment is a bit intimidating, especially being a beginner, but everyone is just there to get better and have a good time. The more i have been coming, the more i feel apart of The Arena family. Great environment, I highly recommend this gym for anyone who is planning to participate in the sport casually or even competitively!
Ive been attending the jiujitsu classes, at the arena, for the better part of a year now and couldnt have better things to say about the gym. Jakes fundamentals classes have been excellent. Baret is an extremely special coach that has spurred lots of growth in my grappling. Everyone at the gym is very friendly as well.
Great gym! The staff here is very helpful and friendly. If you are on the fence about starting your mma training because youre concerned about you skill level, just make the first step and come in. The staff will be more than happy to set you up with any equipment you need and ALL skills levels are accommodated for here. As a beginner/intermediate in jiu jitsu, they were very welcoming in any other classes I was interested in. Highly recommend this gym!
I joined this gym about 2 months ago. I had no prior experience with MMA. So far, I have been focusing mostly on the boxing fundamentals class. I have found the instructors and other members to be friendly and generally easy to work with. Also, the facilities are very good. I would definitely recommend this gym.
Ive been boxing at the arena since december 1 2016. I have to say since the 1st day i have really enjoyed the training and the coaches at the arena. The coaches are really good with ensuring you learn the fundamentals the right way. After you get your foundation set the sky is the limit as far as fighting on a serious level. If you want a place to train where you can feel comfortable ,come train at the arena you wont regret it.
The Arena gym in Point Loma is the best combat sports gyms around hands down! I was fairly nervous coming in for my first formal jiu jitsu class, Zach and Ryan were incredibly helpful and encouraging, I immediately cancelled the membership I had at another local gym and started training here. The price is incredibly reasonable and they offer everything every day so there is no worrying about weather or not it will fit in your schedule.
The Arena is a great place to either start or continue your martial arts journey. The coaches are world class, the classes are full of excellent training partners and the schedule is flexible enough to meet anyones needs! The facility itself is continually being upgraded with new equipment, although it is already state of the art. All in all this is the place to train in San Diego.
The striking class was super hands on with Vince who is extremely technical with the way he teaches. The jiu-jitsu coach was really welcoming and knew what he was doing on the mats and with teaching. Super nice staff and overall a 10/10 experience I would highly recommend this gym for any level of fighter youll be welcomed with open arms by everyone!
The Arena is the best gym Ive ever been to. You get more than a workout, as soon as you walk through the door, you have a staff and group of instructors there to assist you. You have a selection of one 170 classes a week in various combat sports such as boxing, jiu jitsu, judo, MMA, Muay Thai, and wrestling. Theres even a room dedicated to strength and conditioning. Call to schedule your free trial and come see what The Arena is all about.
I was nervous about getting back into Ju Jitsu... especially since I’m older and don’t really know anyone, and I’m relatively new to the area. The staff and the members at “The Arena” made me feel right at home and I forgot all about the newness of things and began to feel at ease. They made my first day back welcoming, and made me grateful for my choice in fighting gyms.
The Arena is a very good clean gym. They provide over 170 classes a week and have a strength and conditioning building separate of the gym. Whats even more greater is the coaches here I get to train the the Legendary Baret Yoshida for Jiu Jitsu. The Arena is also very competitive which provides for the best training. Highly recommended 5 out of 5 star
The Arena offers it all! I started going there in November and truly enjoy the experience. Zac at the front desk was great and showed me around and explained everything I needed to know. The No-Gi Fundamentals is a great class for beginners and the coaches are very knowledgeable.
The Arena. What a great place to get your moneys worth. I joined recently 3 weeks ago to say and every time I come its alway a great experience. It doesnt matter if your a beginner or a pro the staff and coaches are well aware and will help you to the next level anyway possible as long as you are dedicated to yourself. I plan to continue my journey here and help me learn more about myself and techniques.
The Arena is a world class training center with extremely friendly and knowledgeable instructors. From arrival and the great reception Jamar showed me to training with Kru Mark, Coach Joe Vargas, and Chris Leben, the experience was phenomenal. I have found a new home to train at every time I am in the San Diego area. Thank YOU coaches and members for the awesome training and hospitality!
Ive been at the Arena since 2013 and havent looked back ever since. I came in with an open mind and willing to learn what I was capable of. At first I thought it would be kind of scary but the staff treats everyone like their own and really make you feel welcome. Here their are no egos and everyone is their for the same reasons you are. I originally began training Boxing and Muay Thai when I signed up. I dabbled in a little bit of Jiu Jitsu but never really got into it until I bought my first GI. Now I mostly only train Jiu Jistu and i feel my progression not only physically but mentally as well. It all has changed my life for the better. The instructors as well as team mates are top notch, and really look out for you. If youre looking to get into any sort of martial art, and get in shape for a killer deal, then look no where else cause you found the spot.
Great place and super friendly and professional people. I walked in and told them Im visiting, they took me in and lend me pair of boxing gloves. I tried Muay Thai class with kru Mark, it was amazing, he gave ma special attention as a beginner, if I lived in San Diego, it would definitely be my go to gym.
Great coaches, I loved all the classes I took. But its all about their contracts and making their money off of you. They led my buddy and I to believe that since were military, right when we get out we can just show our DD-214 and its as easy as that, FALSE. We had to go through so many obstacles and its been a real pain, still dealing with it currently and Ive been out of the military for over 6 months and Im living in another state. They make it seem like theyre super military friendly but in the end its a hoax.
Ive had the pleasure of training in a number of different gyms throughout the world and with San Diego being a major hub for the combat sports, I was very selective when I was looking for a place to call home. Although there are many great gyms in the area, The Arena felt like that home from the moment I walked through the doors. If youre looking for a place to grow and train with some of the best in the business, check this place out.
I was only able to work out with them one day while I was down for a business conference. I was able to attend 2 Jiu Jitsu classes and a Judo class. There are instructors are great. Very skilled at the arts and teaching. The people in the classes were also great to work out with. - Sensei Jacob Dempsey - Northern Lights Martial Arts, Anchorage, AK
I came in for a drop in while I’m out of state. When I called to ask about drop ins I was greeted by Jamar who was very welcoming.Class was friendly, and the BJJ instruction was methodical and easy to follow. There were pro mma fighters, white belts to black belts, all types of people in the gym in different classes. There was no aggressive looks or posturing that can happen at gyms like this.Seemed like a good place for beginners and people looking for some tough rolls/sparring. Thanks for the tips and welcoming atmosphere
The best decision I have ever made in my life. This gym is more than your typical martial arts gym, where you can just release some steam and frustration. It is a place where you can be reborn into a better version of yourself. It is a place where you can defeat yourself and become a stronger, wiser individual. It is the place where my life was changed forever =) I truly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to change their lives forever =))) we are all one big happy family that will push each other to grow more and more everyday =)
This gyms has everything for you. Coaches are all patient when teaching techniques, whether is kickboxing, Muay Thai, Boxing or Jiu Jitsu they will walk you through it until it sticks. Beginners, intermediate or advance they offer a class for you. Definitely recommended!
If you truly want to learn technical fighting styles, this is the place. Coach Chuck and Kru Mark will take a microscope to your progress and you will always be aware of where you are and what you need to work through next to improve. If youre looking for some sort of cardio Billy Blanks style Tae Bo nonsense, youre going to have a bad time here lol You WILL get a cardio workout, but you will also definitely get your thighs chopped and your head rocked back a few times. My experience here is only with the Muay Thai classes, but if I had more free time I would absolutely spend 2-3 hours here in classes a day. I was hooked after my first free class and will definitely renew my membership indefinitely.
The Arena has everything you would want at a fight gym, whether your goal is to train for upcoming fights or to simply learn different disciplines of Martial Arts. in addition to the main training gym, they have a great weight room and conditioning area if you are looking to build strength and stamina in addition to developing your fighting skill. If you want to work had, challenge yourself, and learn from great experience, The Arena is the place to be.
The atmosphere of the arena is amazing and there are so many people there wanting to achieve their goals in fighting and in life. Being there reminds me that if we want something we have to put in the work for it. With that there are people there who want to support you on that journey which is huge. The different classes avaliable allow you to try any type of blood sport you’d like! For me, Muay Thai has been a huge game changer in my confidence and mind body unity. So anyone wanting to get more in tune with their mind and body, along with building confidence, you have to check it out The Arena!
This place is as good as it gets. Whether you are already a competitor in MMA/boxing/Jiu Jitsu, or you are starting from the ground up, this place covers all the bases. The instructors are world class, and it is not uncommon for you to be training with professional and amateur athletes in combat sports. I do the boxing and jiu jitsu classes, and the amount of technique I have learned in the time I have been training there is amazing. There is also a separate building for strength and conditioning which has all the equipment needed to supplement your fight training. Coach Andy, who is in charge of the strength and conditioning program, is one of the best personal fitness trainers around, and I would highly advise checking out his classes too.
The Arena is the best gym I have been to since Ive been training BJJ and Muay Thai. Ive been training on and off for 5 years and have been to more than 4 schools. I feel like this one will be my home. The main reasons why I chose this gym over all others in San Diego, are the schedule, cleanliness, level of instruction. Also the friendship and comradery among the students and instructors. They offer well over 100 classes a week, which will work around any ones schedule. Hygiene is so important, once I finish rolling at the 12pm BJJ class, someone is bringing out the mops and cleaning the mats immediately. Last thing are the instructors and other students. I primarily go to Master Barets and Professor Mapes classes, and Ive made huge strides in my game. Placed at a local tournament and wouldnt have done it without them. I also took a few wrestling classes with Jesse and a Muay Thai Class with Vince, all of them were eye opening, and I learned so much. Not much else to say, other than if you are on the fence give The Arena a shot. Thanks for reading my review, hope it helps!
I went to website and registered to take a class 10 days in advance. I also followed up same morning with a phone call, no answer so I left a message due to potential COVID restrictions. No one answered and no one returned my call. I arrived at 10:10 for a booked 10:30 Muay Thai class. The man at front desk was RUDE, snotily stated we dont offer free trials. I said, oh ok I can pay I registered for a class he replied we arent letting anyone take classes (he was NOT wearing a mask and never bothered to put one on). I said well the website let me book and I called the number this morning and left a message...he rudely saud Yeah, ok well I dont know but were arent offering classes. I hope he was the owner and Id independently wealthy because his rude, unhelpful and unmasked face is definitely a hindrance to new business.
This gym is dedicated to 2 things. #1 building successful fighters that are equipped for competition and victory. And #2 Taking care of the individual. I have never been at a gym that has felt more like home. Everyone here from the instructors to the person at the front desk makes an effort to serve the needs of the individual. I am proud to call this my home gym.
Thi is one of the best gyms I ve been to and been part of. I ve recommended it my military friends, friends who just want and aerobic condition class, to my friends who are looking for something dynamic, because the place is super diverse. My favorite class is f9ght build with coach Andy. This class alone is worth the price, because it feels like you have a personal a trainer, coach Andy definetly brings out the best of everyone who attends his classes.
Hands down one of the nicest training facilities Ive encountered in the 10 years that Ive been training. Ken treated me like family and made me feel at home within minutes of meeting him, and Kru Mark was everything youd look for in a coach. Highly recommend this place!
I worked out here yesterday and was totally impressed. Coming from someone with a gym membership at Fit and Equinox... this place feels like it 100% fills a void I have. First hour was a raw group core exercise class where things were constantly being switched up. Second hour we boxed... Ive only boxed a handful of times and the intructors were very patient and thorough. Def worth checking out if you want to give your body a change from your plateau.
The coaches here help build a solid foundation to learning. They explain the drills and technicality in a manner that you can understand and apply. Each drill will build upon another until your skill set becomes diverse, you’ll notice your stamina and fight IQ increasing. I’d like to thank my coaches Parè Vince, Chuck, and Kru Mark for their wisdom in coaching. I’ve started with nothing and have the confidence with a diverse repertoire of skill sets to atleast keep up in sparring or in real life. Take time to hydrate a day before though, you will burn a ton of calories and soak your whole workout gear from all the badass drills and training.
I have been to a few other MMA/BJJ academies and this is definitely top notch, always clean, 3 shower with hot water, dedicated instructors that see you as family not a customer. Best place to get in shape, built confidence or get you ready for your next fight. Do yourself a favor a try this place, no matter where you come from, you are always welcome.

2022-05-11I had the pleasure to workout at this gym today. What a wonderful group of people. The trainers Coach Joe and Gordo was extremely welcoming. I felt right at home, the gym members were working hard but still spoke to me. I highly recommend if you are in the San Diego area to check out Arena Boxing. The coaches are a wealth of knowledge. Invest in yourself, you deserve to get your money worth. They truly have something for everyone there. Show up and they got you from there..Trust me you you wouldn’t love it!!

2022-08-11Best Gym in San Diego! Great coaches and classes! Ken(Ducky) is a great coach as well that helps run the amateur team. Knows his stuff and pushes you to your limits! I highly recommend this gym if you want more than just a cardio workout. You learn the fundamentals, experience and the perspective of what a trained athlete is.

2022-06-06I’m a traveler from Philadelphia and I made it my mission to train muy Thai this year. It has been a task finding a gym that suits my vibe, and the Arena is it. The owner personally escorted me around the facility and was very hospitable. The facility, people and atmosphere within the club is warm and welcoming. I got to meet and greet some of the staff and martial artist who has years put in and was able to receive advice being I am a novice. If your are in the San Diego area looking to take on a martial art, this is the best experience you will have getting started.

2022-07-20The arena is by far the best gym Ive ever trained at. Great gym culture and top level coaches, you get a full inclusive package what means you can go to practice anything you want as long as you show up on time and of course unbeatable pricing for the quality of the facility and the service. If you are thinking of either just getting back in shape, learn a contact sport to boost your self esteem or your confidence, or straight up compete, you wont find a better gym in San Diego

2022-06-01I recently signed up for the boxing program at the Arena gym & so far it has been a pleasure to work with Coach Basheer & his team. Love the environment at the gym, everyone pushes each other to improve & reach their full potential. David at the front desk helped me sign up for the membership, he was very friendly & professional, & made it a quick & easy process. Would definitely recommend this gym for anyone looking to push their limits & become the best version of themselves no matter what martial art they choose to compete in.

2022-06-04Walked into this place and got the best first reaction, filled every expectation I’ve ever had. I have never done any boxing or MMA Etc and I got nothing but respect, even though I’m new in every aspect of self defense they are not hesitate on teaching me the ropes to help me build up to everyone else’s level, all the equipment there is very reasonably priced and super high quality, very very family like everyone is super Friendly and mostly military members so I felt at home, huge gym with every kind of weight you could want, 2 boxing rings, a huge matted area for grappling and a lot of punching bags! 100% recommend this place for beginners and experts!

2022-07-19The Arena is the best gym in SD for combat sports and for all levels, beginners to pros. The environment is clean and welcoming by staff and members. I’ve been at this gym since 2018, started as an amateur boxer and am now a pro. They have also upgraded the facilities immensely with state of the art equipment, you should go in and see for yourself.

2022-03-05The boxing class is a joke. Coach does not teach the fundamentals, provide guidance on technique, or do diverse workouts. While I understand it’s a group class, he walks around and hardly says a thing. In my 1 year there, he probably only talked to me 3 times. I should not be telling new people how to throw a proper jab when I’m there to learn myself! His class is just mitt work which amounts to a boxing fitness class. The pros that occasionally teach run a much better class. They walk around and fix mistakes, do some bag work, run some light sparring. The wrestling, BJJ, and kickboxing classes are fantastic. The coaches actually act like proper coaches. The Arena is a good environment but if you want to box and you’re a beginner and want to learn how to box properly go somewhere else.
