Bought some MREs here mainly for nostalgic reasons. They have many brands in stock. It’s nice to see all of them side-by-side and in person. I was able to find the one from my Boy Scout years that includes the little Tabasco bottle and boring chewing gum. They have a ton of camp cooking supplies too. Selection seems to be much bigger than Big5.Will come again for my camping needs!
The place has a lots of merchandise...but not something which stands out. Prices are not so attractive... The goods are just bulk quantity of same stuff... Not enough variety to compare and select. The merchandise quality is so so as mostly made in China and quality is questionable.Staff is courteos if you have plenty of time you may find some good stuff. The mixture of western, working boots, camping gear but no actual camp tent I found. So its better to go for a specific store what your needs are. Or else you will have to figure out.. what you are looking for?No stand out Brands... especially for Camping...I prefer investment in gears for long Life even if I have to pay more. However we all have different taste and requirements. No items were on sale. The price of the various items were not as competitive as other specialized stores.
NO WOMENS SIZES. As a female mechanic who is 5’1 with a small build and waist size it is incredibly hard finding good quality cargo’s in my size and I always have to either get them tailored or order them online but they still never fit right. I strongly suggest including womens sizes.
Wicked cool store, anything for the outdoor enthusiast, massive selection of work pants, boots, you name it they have it. Paracord by Atwood Rope, made in the USA,thats huge with me. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, will point you in the right direction. If Carhartt is your brand, get here, they have piles of it.Kudos to yall atStephens Creek Surplus!!!!😎
Great place for military surplus item, camping stuff and shoes. Sales knives and clothing. Has a good selection of work cloth, gloves and safety shoes. You can find a lot of item here. And they run sales often where you can usually get 15%off. Carries name brands like cahart , North face, Spyderco, Benchmade, Carolina etc...
Love this place n staff, very informative. You NEED SECURITY though. SECURITY!!! Two different times I was there, rude customers were yelling at the poor staff, looked like it was going to get physical even when told the police were going to be called, another time a thief came in and if she wasnt wearing a mask she would have spat on the employees while blaming staff for a pair of shoes she try to shoplift. No other store like it, but avoiding bad vibes and stupid people at all cost.
I Love This Place.Havent Been Here For Over Ten Years.Moved back To Gilroy But I Must Say It Has Become Even Better Over the Years. They Even Have Vans Shoes Now .Old School Even More Perfect Now.The Employees Are Really Helpful And Nice. They Treat You like Family.Be Back Soon and Spend Alot more on camping and survival gear. Thanks For Just Being There.
Too many people in super narrow isles! All isles run the full length of the store, front to back, so its impossible to observe social distancing. Even getting in line meant squeezing down an isle with barely a foot of space between people. There is also a homeless person camped out in front of the business with a full on structure built against window. Its difficult to shop with the store set up and the employees act like everyone is trying to steal from them. Bad vibe
I am a steady customer. I needed work specific shoes, and found a big variety. I have bought many shoes , boots, socks, cold weather protection, rain gear, even a compass, because they do have camp gear. I found a lightweight pouch to carry a phone or camera on my belt. This store has been there a long time. There is a reason why. Especially if you work, and are on your feet outdoors, its a gear store to find what you need. If you like camping and hiking, you will like this store as well. Flashlights ,lanterns , stoves. And you can pick all these things up, look them over, see how it works and is made, and buy it that day and take it home. Friendly service. Great selection.
I was told the store had American made items by a friend. He did warn me that there was an older gentleman in the store who almost caused him to leave. I went to the store and was greeted by a very friendly staff person who tried to help. While helping me the older guy came over and told her that other customers were more important. She attended to them and they dismissed her. Then when she returned he told her that they were more important again. At that time I told him both of them could cater to them because I was leaving. If the old guy is not the owner you need to get rid of him. He just cost you business
Carhartt everything!... I go here to pick up all my Carhartt needs. The selection is outstanding. Sets this store aside from the rest... Camping gear, military gear, Knives, flashlights, gloves 🧤 hats, shoes, boots. I have literally bought all of my clothes here for years.
Not following Social distancing, staff even running around with masks below the nose. Then we were scolded for asking for help to find a shoe size... that if theyd had itd be in that row.Anyway...After the employee left us I found the shoe Id asked about while pulling out my second choice.Decent selection of work boots, many sizes missing with shelves empty of popular clothing.
Great store, awesome selection of boots, pants, clothes, camping gear and knives. Prices are not the lowest but the selection is great. I went in the other day looking for a knife and the guy recommended a Kershaw Knockout 1870. I bought it and, wow, this is surely the best knife I have ever owned.
Very expensive for a surplus store. Most basic items have a 1.5 - 2x markup. $9 ammo cans go for $22. Basic gear like $3 rope sells for $7.This is a great store to go to, and see what items exist in the outdoor camping space. However, buying anything here is a waste of money.
This place is amazing!!!!Im a female construction worker and they carry Dovetail and Kuhl womens work wear. Hella boots in all sizes. They also carry every variety and style of Vans, for when Im not at work.Prices are very fair. As a matter of fact, the Dovetail pants are $15 cheaper here. Its a 2 hour drive to get here but worth the journey. I might also stop and grab one of the world famous falafels at the Falafel Drive-in while Im here.
Customer service sucks. (Except for the exception of the two female cashiers). We were watched like a hawk, never once did the guy around shoe department ask if he could help us. He just paced around and kept starring at us with a angry look on his face. When we got ready to check out he rushed up to us and asked about a display shoe he couldnt find. The cashier checked our stuff and re assured him we didnt have it. Last time we spend over $100 there. Prices are not competitive at all. Can find better deals at Sears. Only good thing about this store is the variety of outdoor and work gear stuff all in one place.
High quality work wear! Bought a industrial rain proof hoodie here and its incredibly warm. Also love that the workers know exactly where everything is and walk you straight to the area where you need to be. Not like other stores where its hard to get good customer service.
Best surplus store in the Bay Area...awesome selection of Camo gear, all legit and very good quality. Great camping/survival section...and work clothes and gear for days!! Love this store...prices vary from reasonable to slightly high, but they always have some great sale/clearance items. Owner is very helpful and honest. Five stars all the way for this place!!
Very good store. Right on Stevens Creek Blvd. Caries variety of good for camping, hunting, fishing, working clothes, and many more things. I am not sure about weapons or ammunition though. But I never asked, so who knows. Limited store parking but free street side parking is available. Good store for buying working boots.
Large shoe selection which is my primary reason for shopping there. Prices are not the best but the products they Cary are. Have been turned off a few times do to the staff being over bearing. I get the feeling they think Im going to steal something even when trying on shoes( kind of an impossibility) I only go there when I cant find what I want elsewhere.
If youre looking for steel toes for any work-related clothing Stevens Creek surplus is my go-to store. They have many many different varieties and the staff is pretty knowledgeable about the different types and their benefits and downsides. Four other random related stuff like camping and military surplus gear that they have a lot of good selection at pretty good rates.
Lots of products made in Asia, aisles are overcrowded, and shoe size variety is hit and miss. Most of the workers are barely able to speak English well-enough to understand what you are asking for, but they are polite. It is not a true Army Surplus place at all. A bit too pricey as well.
This is a staple of San Jose. Ive been coming here since I was a kid in the 90s for Vans, Carhartt, bandanas, Levis, knives etc. If you need outdoor equipment or any military supplies, this is your store!! I like it a lot better than Mels because of their prices and selection, however, they do not sell firearms. Every square foot is used for something cool!! Great ownership too
I go there for the pants I wear to work. Carhart is tough and 20 bucks more everywhere else. Upper management is kinda lazy. I wanted to have them hold a few pair the next time they came in. Asked if I could get a call when they got there. She got my info and I never heard a peep from anybody there.Maybe a 150 dollar sale doesnt make a difference to them.
Yesterday when I went to the Surplus store in San José, I had my worst experience of my life. I am a woman in my early 60s. When I paid for my purchase, I realized that the cashier had made a mistake. When I went to tell him, he got a bad temper and started screaming at me. In a very bad mood he corrected his own mistake. I will never go back to that store again. That is not the way to deal with a costumer. What a shame
Prices were ok. Not very good selection of vests, but they had a lot of other things there. I was there around 2:00pmOne thing that really turned me off was that one of the employees was openly bitching and moaning about customers not putting things back correctly and that he had to go back and rearrange everything. #1 isnt that part of your fricken job? And #2 dont wine to other employees on the sales floor. I could hear him loud and clear and I was three rows over from him. I wanted to tell him to quit crying like a baby get back to work! I had a much better experience all and all of the Moss Landing supply store
I liked coming to this store because it has a lot of supplies and they have benchmade knifes! Had lots of stuff and supplies. unforntunaly I will never return to this place again. There is one guy who is tall and seems to be be Indian. He is really rude and annoying. My friend misplaced an item. Customers misplace items all the time at but the employee freaked out and followed us around the store causing a big scene. I left the store because I felt uncomfortable the guy wouldnt leave us alone. I stopped going for a couple months. Then I decided to go with my girl friend. I walked in looking to buy another benchmade. I was browsing the knifes trying to pick the right one. After not even five mins of browsing the Indian guy pretty much told me buy something or leave. This really upset me and I will never spend my money there again . The rest of the other employees are nice.
Yo I got nothing but attitude when trying to buy some shirts. no one wanted to ring me up and when i asked the indian dude if he could ring me up he said no and walked away. Asked another older woman if any one could ring me up she said i have no idea. in the meanwhile the cashier is arguing with a customer about a discount. hella employees in the back folding clothes laughing like hiyennas. smh
So, I have to follow you through your social media boosting your fair followings to find a lower price. Also, you claim our margins so low that what qualifies for a military discount elsewhere is actually our starting price and that justifies a discount for First Responders only? Why should it mater, isnt the same actions for those who put themselves in the line-of-fire to keep us safe; Military, Veteran, or First Responder? Double standards if you ask me.

2019-11-10Great place to buy surplus, camping equipment, jeans, boots, rain gear, hats, knives and so much more. This place is a blast just to visit and take in all their inventory of quality products. If you hang around the counter youll generally find the owner who is pleasant, friendly and always positive creating a great vibe in a truly unique, one of a kind store..... Love love love this place, highly recommend...

2022-01-30The employees are usually pretty easy to find and willing to help you find what you need. The store is pretty well organized so its not too difficult to find whatever you need.Parking can be a challenge. There are only a few spots in front of the store and maybe a few on the street.I find that this store has more to offer than another surplus store in the area.

2018-09-05Be warned, military surplus only makes up less than 10% of the store. In that 10%, most are modern reproductions of bomber jacket and flecktarn style clothing. For ww2 clothing, you will find nothing other than a few American helmets. They have a large selection of its and bits such as straps, paracord, spray camo paint, and holsters. 80% of the store has hardware style clothing and boots. There are a lot of knives, pins, and camping gear. Great store for modern clothing but dont expect anything older than that.

2022-03-07Been here a hand full of times. This go round they were low on selections that i wanted for Carhartt shirts.Good boot prices as well but they seem to run out of my size quick. Must be a popular size, but still have a good selection. Bought boots here a few times.
