My fur baby family love everyone at Sierra pet clinic! For years now we’ve felt like part of the family. My babies are never scared to go to the vet! The care given by the skilled veterinarians there is remarkable.
With new Covid regulations in place, this clinic handled our new patient visit extremely well. Assistant met us at the car, took our two dogs in for exam and vaccinations. Dr. Swalander then called with results and recommendations. He was thorough, organized and extremely pleasant, and took the time to answer my questions. I also appreciated his careful and logical approach to vaccines, flea treatments etc. based on where the pets lives or visits. A+ clinic in my book.
Had a quick emergency with my husky while visiting the Tahoe area. The staff was able to get us in last minute on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend. They were all so friendly and did a great job of getting us taken care of and on our way. Won’t hesitate to return if anything comes up in the future. Thanks!!
A certified service dog discount is just a nice added bonus to what is an awesome experience. Friendly staff, knowledgeable, patient, and understanding. They helped educate me on allergies and all the different approaches we could take.Its exactly what I look for in a small town business!
I have used them for years. Now I would suggest taking your business elsewhere. I have only ever wrote one other review. This is how disappointing this experience was. I have to share it!I called to ask questions a few hours after my appointment and was told that I had an attitude.Very hurtful and unprofessional way to treat a client that paid for an overpriced puppy vaccine visit.They are charging $75 for a fecal sample that should only cost $25.
We just moved to Truckee and needed a vet due to a growth growing behind our 3 year old labradoodles ear. I was referred to Sierra Pet Clinic by a friend. I am happy we took the recommendation. They were able to see my dog Booker almost immediately and then get him in for surgery the next day. They have coffee/tea/water in the lobby to have while you wait. The ladies in the front are very nice and the vet was super helpful and caring towards my dog. They are not super expensive compared to other vets I have been to and really lay out your options for you then let you make the final decision. I would recommend this vet to anyone that asks.
I was very nervous about getting my dogs spayed. I recently moved to Truckee and went to a different vet than this one when there was an emergency. The place where we went was really been there done that. Any questions I had were stupid, and I felt as if I was wasting time. So of course I was nervous about finding a good vet in Truckee.My dog had her pre-exam this morning, and they were SO nice. I had many, many questions and everyone there was happy to answer them. We updated her shots, and scheduled her spay. Its safe to say that Im happy my dogs will be going there, how they treat me as a client is how theyll treat my dog! So dont expect anything less, Sierra Pet Clinic is awesome. I highly recommend this place. ❤️
I was able to get a same day appointment for my pet.They did a check up and Dr. Ferrrera was able to diagnosed the issue.We have taken our pets to Sierra Pet Clinic for years and have always been happy with the treatment received. We also like the fact that they have reduced fee vaccinations clinic and are able to order prescriptions
Ive never had anything but great experiences with my dog Molly and this vet. She is getting up there in years, has only 3 legs due to an injury as a puppy and is a pretty anxious girl so she has had a lot of vet visits over the years. They have always been able to fit her in and make her feel like the special girl that she is. I feel like they really know her and care about her and try to keep things as stress free as possible. They are always frank and honest with me and I never feel pressured to do more or spend more just so they can make more money. I trust their recommendations and know they have our best interests in mind. My thanks to all the vets at this clinic.
Our puppy was due for her annual vaccines, and we were delighted to find Sierra Pet Clinic / Dr. Swalander to care for her. The clinic was very friendly from the first phone call. Due to COVID-19 guidelines and safety precautions, one of the team members (wearing a mask and gloves) picked up our girl from the car, and Dr. Swalander called me from the clinic to talk through her exam and shot procedures. He was thoughtful, informative, and patient (I have a lot of questions!). We were extremely pleased with the overall experience and look forward to returning. Thank you Dr. Swalander and Sierra Pet Clinic!
My trip to Sierra clinic was great.everyone there showed compassion and love to all the animals I saw my. Cats vet was fabulous.He was busy. And still showed my cat respect as well as. Myself thank you to all the staff.
Ive had mixed experiences here. If you can get past the folks who answer the phone, all is good. The doctor we saw is no longer there, but another one we talked to about euthanasia for our old girl was very kind and understanding. He explained that we had the option of bringing her down to the river in a tranquil setting to say good bye. While we ended up going to the clinic we had used previously, we very much regret not going to Sierra Pet Clinic. The veterinarian we spoke with on the phone seemed very compassionate. Our experience with the other clinic was a nightmare and after going there for many years, we finally said no more. So if we can deal with the front desk (a problem in many vet clinics), we will try this clinic again.
My dog is old and grumpy and does not like his personal space invaded. The staff at Sierra Vet Clinic was very understanding and patient with him. It made me happy to see my good buddy treated with such care and kindness from the Vet.

Got stuck in Truckee due to road closure while visiting friends a couple weeks ago with my dog with diarrhea and throwing up. I’m pretty sure it was something he ate since he got into the trash at my friends and generally likes to eat whatever he finds lying around. Sydney answered the phone and was Very helpful and nice getting us appt the same morning even though they looked pretty busy. Dr. S ran x-rays and a blood panel to make sure he wasn’t blocked up or dying and then gave him something to stop him from vomiting and medication for his diarrhea. They worked pretty much immediately with the vomiting and he was totally back to himself by the next day. They really knew what they were doing and got things figured out and I didn’t go broke in the process and my buddy is healthy again. I’m very happy I took him there and grateful they took such good care of him. Even though it’s a bit of a drive since I live in Reno I’m going to start taking him there as his regular vet too.
I recently had to take our cat Lucy in for a couple vaccinations on 8/3 and the staff at Sierra Pet Clinic did everything they could to make her comfortable. Honestly, I have the pickiest cat in which she will only drink Ice Water.... she wont even go near water at room temp. The staff had no issues with me bringing my own ice, and providing Lucy with a bowl of water for her visit- which I greatly appreciated. Dr. Swalander was the best with her as well! She just about melted in his arms, and had low stress levels during and after her vaccines. You rock Dr. Swalander, thank you so much for taking care of my princess! Well definitely be back to see you again.
Hops & Barley are so chill when they get their annual nursery-cats check-up & shots. They don’t love the thermometer but EVERYTHING and everyone else is perfect. We love having Sierra Pet Clinic close by.
On a weekend trip to Truckee, our dog punctured her paw while at Donner Lake. We arrived unannounced at Sierra Pet Clinic on a Friday afternoon and was greeted warmly, even though we didnt have an appointment. SPC was able to accommodate us and provided exceptional care to our dog. The facility itself is clean and inviting. SPC exceeded our expectations and if needed, we would not hesitate to bring our dog back here for care.

We have used this vet for years and always suspected we were being taken advantage of and now we know for sure, that they deliberately over charge and make you do tests that are not necessary. We recently took a dog in and we were forced to get blood work which was $250 and then suggested that we get over $1k more testing done because there was a chance the dog had a disease but we wouldnt know until further testing was done. I decided to go to another vet outside of Tahoe, they were shocked at the price of the blood work I had done. They said it would have been $35 at this vet. And this doctor could see NO SIGNS of any irregularitys in the blood work. There was no sign of any diseases in fact he suggested this was one of the healthiest older dogs he had ever seen.
Such a great staff. My Rottweiler , who is terribly afraid of the vet, severely split a nail while we were in Truckee of vacation. They got him in for emergency care and treated him very well and even gave him his vaccination boosters.
By far the best vet clinic in the north Lake Tahoe area. It took me eight years of vet after different vet. The staff is so lovely and they really care about their pawed patients. I’d highly recommend them to everyone !
Words cant express what the staff at Sierra Pet Clinic mean to our family. We live down the hill and recently had to make the difficult decision of putting down our lab retriever due to terminal cancer. The staff here treated us like family and enabled us to come up to a private spot on their property for our lab retriever to enjoy his favorite place in the mountains along the banks of the Truckee River one last time before the procedure. He was our son and the staff here, especially Jessica and Jen, loved on us and Hurley in a way that you only experience with family. You each have a special place in our family now and a home down the hill if you need anything.Thank you also for all the thoughtful things you did for us, even after the procedure. We have never experienced this level of care with any organization and cant wait to bring our daughters up to meet the heroes that took care of their big brother and best friend on his final day before going to heaven.Thank you and we love you all. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Brought our puppy in for fecal testing/checkup since we had just gotten her a couple days prior. Upsold us on a DAP vaccine that she had 10 days ago(proper intervals are 3-4 weeks) gave her the shot after repeatedly being told she had her first round of shots at week 7, this was week 8. Won’t be going back. Prices are absurd, too.
My experiences with Dr Garcia and Dr Swalander have been great. I went in when my lab ruptured her ACL. Dr Garcia was extremely knowledgable, gentle, and thorough in his exam. He also took the time to explain everything to me clearly and answer all my questions. I later met with Dr. Swalander to discuss surgery and other options. Its hard to see your fur baby in pain and I felt during my visits that both doctors were genuinely concerned and caring in their treatment of Luna, who is still under their care in this process.
I have had the pleasure of bringing my pets to you guys for the last 18 years. From the start of life to the end you have been there for us every step of the way. Through laughter and through tears. I wouldnt go to any other place. You are my number one. We love Sierra Pet very much. Thank you for all you do. Couldnt imagine life without you!!
Been taking my dog there for 10+ years. She fell and broke her leg, was screaming in pain when I called and was told they were too busy and to go elsewhere. I did and will continue to!
I appreciated the detailed empathetic communication from our Vet and the Technician, since we were not allowed in the building with our pet yet.
I cannot believe the terrible experience I had here today! They called me yesterday at 4pm to confirm an appointment today at 9:30 so I did not have time to call them before they closed but I called first thing today at 8am sharp (when they open) to confirm the appointment via phone. I then drove all the way from incline (2 hours of my day + gas $) for the woman at the front desk to tell me that I needed to reschedule! She gave the run around of excuses after i asked her why they confirmed this morning and claimed it was someone else who picked up the phone but regardless a confirmed appointment is a confirmed appointment and I know it was her that confirmed because she was the only one answering phone calls (nice try). She then had the audacity to ask if I wanted to reschedule! Of course not! She also hung up on me twice when I asked for an apology via phone! WORST customer service and communication I have EVER experienced. Will never come here again.

2021-09-07The clinic showed a great deal of compassion and competence when my cat got sick. They ran the proper tests and promptly shared the results, telling us possible diagnoses and going over all the treatment options for all possible circumstances. I am very grateful to have them as our pets’ primary vets, they are very knowledgeable and compassionate.

2020-04-28Sierra Pet Clinic has been taking excellent care of my dog and 2 kitties for years. Following a recent office visit for one of my cats, they provided near daily follow-up phone consults which helped tremendously with our care planning. I greatly appreciate their expertise, compassion and outstanding care!

2022-01-17The vets have been okay but the assistants and office workers have not been very good (accidently deleting appointments, not very nice, etc). Also, seems too expensive. Although there are not many choices, it might be best to try the others in the area before choosing one.

2021-01-27Good experience. Made an appointment for my very bloated 9 year old cat I adopted after fostering this last year. Got an appt within the week. They did a thorough exam and emailed the cost to do blood work, xrays etc. The doctor took the time to explain what she did and was looking for. I am waiting for blood work results. Costs were nearly $1000 but I did agree to do all the tests recommended and I knew she needed to be sedated for the xrays. Good news she might just be fat, no tumors and blockages... Vet took per time and answered any and all my questions....so now we wait.

2020-07-25They have been my dogs vet since I moved here in 2016 have always been amazing, very caring as well as I feel affordable. Today I had to say goodbye to my amazing best friend and they did everything possible to make the experience peaceful and comfortable. I am forever great full.
