Absolutely delicious ice cream! So creamy and flavorful. I really enjoyed the root beer ice cream on a banana split. The staff was very kind, helpful, and hospitable. There are also different kinds of homemade chocolates available. A great little shop to get a nice dessert
This is a great local ice cream and confectionary shop went there one evening and was treated to wonderful tastes and service. Be aware that the store lighting is set to be not super bright so at first glance I wasn’t sure the store was open but then I noticed the “open” sign.Great place to eat ice cream

Definitely not a question on why this is a local favorite. The ice cream is delicious! The staff is friendly and helpful. Price is fair for the value. Kids nor adults will be disappointed. This place is great. I ordered a scoop of the peanut butter cup ice cream in a cake cone...yummy! We will be back next time we are in town.

Too much to choose from! All their ice cream is way better than you can imagine, candy and chocolates are super good and something for every kid and parent. Nice area to sit outside for few people. I would highly recommend this place! The young lady that helped us yesterday evening was the sweetest most friendliest person I have encountered at an ice cream shop. We purchased two single scoop ice cream. I chose the coconut flavor (which I had never had before) and it was delicious! They do provide samples if you needed to try a new flavor.
I cannot tell a lie...Shubert s is home town awesomeness. Creamy ice cream made on site fresh chocolates seasonal candies and individual piece chocolates also. Hand packed quarts sundaes shakes cookie ice cream sandwiches. Open fairly late 9pm fall winter 10pm or later on summer weekends.Love it!Better everytime I go!

Fantastic! Delicious icecream, there were only 2 employees getting ice cream for my group of 16 people and they got us all out of there in no more than 5 min. The staff was very polite and the prices are great.

Can someone say customer service!!..dang these emplees addressed is when we walked in. They were helpful in telling us about the different options in ice cream, and toppings. They were talking to the kids as well just a great experience.Quality of product: the ice cream was good, I have to say I enjoyed the Mt Shasta ice cream it was chocolate with coconut and marshmallow. I have always eaten at, and love shuberts all of my life here in Chico. And now I have moved to be the resident manager of a complex very close to it and I eat there at least three times a week. The staff is always very friendly. The ice cream speaks for itself on how good it is. And the prices are not outrageous. You must eat here. If you are reading reviews trust me you wont be disappointed when you come here

I love this place they have so many different ice creams and all sorts of toppings. They make their own ice cream too. It taste really good, and they have been around for a very long time. I would recommend going here.
Yummy ice cream on a hot June day.I tried the lemon custard in a waffle cone. Creamy, not too sweet. Nice lemon flavor. Large portion.

Went there with my mom for chocolate malts. It had been a long time. They were great. My step dad enjoyed his.. Service was xourteous and very good.

In Chico a few weeks ago & stayed at a hotel near by after having eye surgery.Beem coming into Chico for 50 years from Lake Almanor & never knew of Shuberts! Feeling lousy with an eye patch, I found Shuberts..I do not eat alot of ice cream ,thinking it would make me feel a little better I sat down out front & enjoyed one of the best vanillas I have ever eaten! Excellent.I will be eating more!

Homemade ice cream, and it is excellent! They also have fudge and seasonal specials (i.e.boysenberry sundae in the summer). Not too expensive either (paid $6.25 for double scoop banana split with 2 sauces).
A great old fashioned ice cream parlor and candy store. The ice cream was wonderful and the candy was equally amazing. My family and Ill will be coming back soon.

This place is open late nearly every night! It helped me cure my late night craving for a fresh banana milkshake more than once. Candy is handmade and delicious, staff is invariably friendly and cute, and it is nice to support a locally owned multi generational business. Please give Shuberts your business so we can all continue to enjoy superior service, and keep the Walmarts of the world from becoming our only option.

Excellent ice cream, my favorite is the seasonal peach, but my family LOVES the Mount Shasta flavor. Honestly, Ive yet to encounter an ice cream here that isnt fantastic. The service is always good and friendly even with how crowded this place is all the time. Theres frequently a line right out the door, so be prepared to wait a bit for your frozen treats, its worth it. Their iced tea is great, but request easy ice, its brimfull. Always worth a trip.

I went there with a purpose. My Pops and I shop in Chico, and for the 2 years hes been wanting to go to Schuberts after we finish shopping before we head up the hill toward Magalia. He likes the Maple Walnut because hes from Massachusetts and he use to get that flavor growing up as a child a lot. He loved it. But because we go to 2 different stores and usually have a lot of perushables, we tend to say next time and go home.My Pops is 90, and was hospitalized at Enloe recently for 2 weeks. He wasnt eating very much, so I drove over to Shuberts, got him a quart and he ate half of it. He was thrilled. Schuberts Maple Walnut was the last dessert he ate. He died on Friday. Thank you Shuberts for the Maple Walnut. You made a dying mans day. I just know hes up there bragging about it.

OMG this place is amazing. The icecream is hand crafted and amazing. They also have other sweets and candies. It makes you feel like you are in an old fashioned ice cream parlour. Its pretty small but there is outside seating. A must stop if you are in Chico
Shubert’s is aMAzing! My big sister used to take me for “Ice Cream Appreciation Class” at Shubert’s when I was a kid. Of course, anyone who has lived in Chico a while knows that Shubert’s has the best ice cream in town, but they also have the best handmade candies. So whether it’s Valentine’s Day or Ice Cream Appreciation Class, Shubert’s is the best!
As a professional Candy Maker this place is a true Chico tradition with some of the Best Ice Cream ever. It reminds me of my grandfather he loved the lemon custard and every time I gets some I have great memories of eating ice cream out front with him. I also recommend their Candies. Thanks for making things the old fashioned way.

Not only do they serve the best ice cream in Chico but they have the most widespread variety of goodies (I dont really know how to describe it) They are always so busy but somehow the whole staff manage to pull off great customer service. Sarah was in particularly helpful :) definitely coming back

The BEST ice cream in Chico! We had Shuberts Ice Cream at our wedding! We decided to mix it up and serve both cupcakes and ice cream to our guests. Though it was early November, and a bit on the cool side for weather, it was a great success! Our guests LOVED it! It was so fun and refreshing to have ice cream at our wedding! We had both the ice cream cart and a server to attend it. If you can afford this I highly suggest it. We didnt want a family member to have to worry about taking care of this for us or folks self-serving (especially with little ones running around). Have Shuberts at your wedding, you wont regret it!
In a national contest to determine the best ice cream destination in the country, Shuberts came in second. They were robbed. Shuberts has been around for over 100 years, and Shuberts makes some of, if not the very best ice cream on the planet. Every item, even their chocolate dipped Oreos are fresh, delicious, and if youre lucky enough to catch the fresh boysenberry sundaes in season then youre going to have an experience rare to duplicate in this world. Shuberts also does candies and chocolates, and if you want to treat your mom, Dad, or sweet with a delicious box of sweets for Christmas, Easter or Valentines Day, Shuberts should be your number one destination. Seriously, I cant recommend this place enough. Delicious!

I rarely go out to get ice cream, but it was my boyfriends birthday yesterday so I took him here. Both of our ice creams had icicles in them.. yuck. Wish we went to the place downtown. The shop is very cute, though.

If you love mint ice cream, this is absolutely the BESt place to be. Smooth and creamy ice cream with a delicious balance of mint. Chocolate mint and peppermint ice cream was Devine. Very kind staff too. Only drawback was there’s no public restrooms available and in this era that’s important! Lol .... Being from out of town they very kindly directed us onward.

Most famous for their Chico mint flavor, which is delicious! Its a really cute little shop, very typical of an old-fashioned ice cream/candy store, and it always smells heavenly when you walk in the door. The location is a little out of the way from downtown and with only street parking, but theyve also got a spot at the Silver Dollar Fair now, for when thats in town. They also brew their own root beer.
If youre from the area, you probably already love Shuberts. If youre new or passing through and like ice-cream this is the place to stop! Their flavors are of a solid selection and always some of the best Ive ever had. its honestly no shock they are a Chico classic.
Totally disappointed with Shuberts. I went there and ordered an ice cream - Mocha Chip-and the first time was very good. I came back a month later and it was bland. I tried again in two months and bland again. I thought for sure that it must have been a mistake but Ive tried it a couple more times and it always had light flavor. I am so bummed. I know the quality is good but the flavor was lacking. Yesterday I tried another chocolate, per the recommendation of the clerk there. It again was terribly bland. I hope they can step up their chocolate game...it is my favorite flavor, along with chocolate mint and mocha mint...but if it continues to be bland...Ill have to make ice cream at home or go to another place. :( Ive only been here two years-but ice cream is my favorite food...Please change your chocolate recipes!!!!
The excellent locally made flavors and friendly service never changes here, even as Chico itself is growing at a dramatic pace! Also one of the best few places to get root beer ice cream, and their very own Chico Mint, which is chocolate ice cream with their house-made mint chips mixed in. :)
Best, and stop homemade every morning by the same family. Best candy, best ice cream, best location. During Thursday markets, and Saturday night can get crowded, but the service is always speedy. My first summer job.
I went there on a bike ride with my friend to get her a Mt. Shasta shake. The line was quite long when I walked inside, but the employees did a great job of quickly helping everyone. The Mt. Shasta shake was delicious. We will definitely go here again in the future.
Great selection, old-fashioned ice cream.My first visit enjoyed pistachio nut. Whole nuts, good flavor but not overly sweet. But I must say that Ben & Jerrys Pistachio is hands down the best, and Shuberts, while good, did not change that opinion.

No better ice cream that Ive ever had than Shuberts! I went tonight to get black licorice ice cream, but it had to ripen overnight. Thats okay because there was lemon custard, pumpkin, root beer, etc. You just cant go wrong here!Update: I did go back the next day for my licorice ice cream!!

The pistachio ice cream was fantastic as well as the lemon custard!! The family also enjoyed the black cherry, orange sherbet, and coffee. We were all very satisfied!!
Blackberry (similar berry) cream was amazing.Google maps takes you to a parking area on 6th street. Candy store is next to parking but on 7th street. A little confusing for someone who is new to Chico. If you oark where Google maps puts you, you have to walk around the corner to get to the store. Coming back I jumped the low fence.

Good ice cream, but over priced. Usually when you visit a ice cream shop and you order a scoop of icecream, the scoops are huge, like close to one cup. At Shuberts the scoops are the smallest scoops Ive ever seen anywhere. The scoop is probably about a fourth cup of ice cream, maybe a third cup.

2022-07-11My family regularly goes to Shuberts especially in the summer. This was my first time joining them.We arrived around 9:30pm and there was a good ten people ahead of us. That didnt seem to matter though because they had three employees working and they moved swiftly. I expected to rushed because how close to closing time it was but this didnt happen. The employees who helped us, while moving quickly to assemble our order, were friendly and helpful, describing flavors and providing samples. We had brought our dog and they happily prepared a cup of sweet cream for him.The ice cream was the best Ive had in a long time. It was nice and soft compared to the store bought ice cream. I really appreciated the range of flavors they had though I had a hard time choosing just three for my banana split. I loved their almond doodle flavor, it tasted like cinnamon toast crunch.Overall, I had a great time and was really impressed with both the service and their product. I will absolutely return.

2021-10-01By far the best ice cream in Northern California. My wife and I drive 1.5 hours sometimes just to come into Chico for Shuberts. Get the coffee ice-cream. You won’t be disappointed

2022-06-06There’s something incredibly freeing to the feeling of waltzing into a place like this and picking up an ice cream cone.Personally, I’m ecstatic for their shakes. Whilst I admit I’m not too daring when it comes to trying brand new flavors, all of the ones I have here always compete with becoming my new favorite.No matter your age, this place makes you feel like a kid. My mood instantly picks up when visiting here for a treat. I associate this place with happiness and you can tell as you wait in line, so do many of the other customers as well.A mini Willy Wonka factory for ice cream with a twist of the same 1950s innocence that would have a greaser sharing a shake with his date. Want to feel cute or happy? This is the place.(great spot for dates!)

2022-07-02Same authentic homemade ice cream Ive been getting for over 50 years. You walk in and are transported to a time when homemade things were what mattered. The aroma of their house made mints and chocolate candies, and the fresh flavor ice creams are the best. Chico mint is only found here

2022-03-07Visiting Chico & I randomly stumbled across this gem, while googling (pink ice cream) as per, a request from my 2yr old. Very friendly staff. Lots of sweet treats to choose from.. we left with more than ice cream! This little shop is definitely worth stopping by a taking peak. We will be returning.

Not just award winning ice cream, but also the best confections of sugary goodnesses in the North State area of california. By far a must experience delight for everyone in the family. Customer service is class-A and even their large cups of ice for about 35 cents is the best ice around!

2022-07-17My wife and i just tried Shurberts for the first time and we loved it.We have been to a dozen other ice-cream shops in the area and feel that hands down Shurberts has the best flavor.Dont be alarmed by the long line either as they get people in and out pretty quickly.

2021-05-25Best ice cream in Chico! The store was vintage and had a fun cute candy shop feel - the employees were enthusiastic and helpful and awesome - and the ice cream was tasty! I tried the Chico Mint and it was a fun twist on mint chocolate. Definitely would recommend!
