Used to be a great shop. The guys that worked here were nice and accommodating. Went today and the new girl that works here was pretty rude. Shes taken it upon herself to enforce the no box taping policy. I was the only one in the shop and rather than helping to tape up my return box, she made me buy a $7 roll of tape. Pretty lame quite frankly.
Ive had a mailbox here for over a year and have been shipping here for over 3 years. I would give 1 star if it werent for Rick as he is a hero. However, with that being said my experience today has caused me to reconsider my service to this location. Today, the owner was there, not Rick who ALWAYS takes care of me. I attempted to ship a box which I had received from the manufacturer located in New Jersey for $30ish in shipping which I then needed to send to SC, I was quoted $163 to ship the same box I paid $30 for (UPS Ground) from the manufacturer (without insurance). I then went to the UPS shipping estimator site and found it should be roughly $30 (something is wrong here). I took my box to FedEx on Union and shipped it for $31 WITH insurance. If Rick is working, youre in good hands. If not, go somewhere else. So unfortunate.
Slow service. Also I had to print a label and put a return slip inside the box. The UPS guy refused to tape the box saying the process had changed and I should have brought my own tape. Never heard of that before. He wanted to ship an open box! I ended up taking the box home just to put 10in piece of tape on it, after wasting an hour there.
Every time I’ve visited it has been a bad experience. The lack in BASIC service, professionalism, and attitude of all workers at this location is just sad. When the manager is so poorly trained in keeping a professional tone of voice and attitude I can only imagine how unhealthy the environment is.
I have a mailbox with them. Sent them a work laptop for a new job. Then, forwarded to me (different address). Was returned to sender because it was not labeled correctly. They do not answer the phone nor respond to emails. UPS corporate was unable to reach them too (What the heck?). Terrible situation. If they do not respond soon, never doing business them again. 0/10 dont recommend.Update: Rick H. from the UPS Store did end up getting back to me later that night and resolved my situation. Albeit, I do wish they refunded me for the next day shipping that was returned to sender.
Have a mailbox with them for 3 years now. Only use it for package deliveries due to package thefts in my apt building lobby. Rick is super friendly as well as the staff there. Always a pleasure dealing with them. Especially like the notifications that a package is ready for me to pick it up.
This is my alternative address for UPS shipments because packages delivered to the mail room in my elegant Nob Hill apartment building are very frequently stolen, affecting almost every neighbor I know in my building of 43 apartments. After living in San Francisco for 30 years, I know these thefts are also afflicting neighboring buildings on supposedly tony but definitely expensive Nob Hill. The mere property crime of stolen mail is beneath the interest of the San Francisco Police even taking a report, nonetheless trying to investigate and resolve this citywide thievery. This store is a great neighborhood asset, just 5 blocks downhill from where I live. Each and every time Ive stopped by this UPS Store over the past 2 years, Rick has been there working as quickly and efficiently as humanly possible, taking multitasking to a very high level, while adeptly supervising one or two very helpful assistants, and ALWAYS with a friendly smiling demeanor. AND THIS HAS HELD TRUE EVEN DURING THE YULETIDE CRUSH OF PACKAGES! Sorry to read that other folks claim not to have had as incomparably fine an experience as I have had here, but everyone I know who makes use of the services at this store has expressed 100% satisfaction with Rick and his staff. Two of those many folks are my friends and also fellow small business people with their own nearby stores. Do yourself a favor and use this stores many services that they try their best to deliver even when crowded. And they are often crowded BECAUSE of their great reputation in the community! Any wait you might encounter will be worthwhile, however, in return for the high quality of competent and friendly service they will provide.
I am new to the area, and this location is closest to my home. The young lady who helped me was very nice, greeted me with a smile, and completed my shipping needs quickly and efficiently. She knew the answers to my questions (Can I redirect my Amazon shipments here? Is there a fee?) without hesitation. As the line behind me grew, other team members stepped up to assist,If this store is under new management, then they seem to be doing a good job. I will continue to use them.
I have never felt the urge to give a review online until now. This UPS is the most ghetto, poorly managed location I have ever been too. Two workers at the front had their AirPods in their ears and speaking down to every customer including myself. From mishandling packages, to snarky remarks, the interior of the store was just as depressing. Mind you, I’m not an old grumpy person or a type of person to always complain. I’m a young adult who’s the same age if not younger as these workers. What an horrible experience. I don’t understand how people see “5 Stars” in this location.
This place is trash. Locks the door before closing time. If you do get inside there is one employee helping 3 people while the other sits around. Its total chaos with no line. Unless youre rude and aggresive the employees wont even notice youre there. Needs a change of management ASAP but its been like this forever 🤷♂️ makes visiting USPS feel like a gift from heaven so I guess theres that.
I wish I could give this place zero stars. It is THE WORST shipping store ever. The woman who works there, and who I assume owns the franchise, is extremely rude to customers, and they charge highway robbery prices. $3 per page for faxes? $50 for a box and some bubble wrap? Youve got to be kidding.I hadnt realized that UPS stores were on a franchise model, so I would go here sometimes out of convenience since I live nearby. When I caught on to the fact that they set their own prices and wildly overcharged on everything, I started only using it to drop off pre-paid UPS packages. And even that wasnt always easy - one time I had forgotten to tape one side of the box, so I asked nicely if she would mind taping it for me. She made the biggest deal about how this was a one-time favor, and do I know how many people come in asking for pieces of tape - like I was in there trying to scam her out of a 3-inch piece of tape!Theres another place just a few blocks down the road on Polk called Eco Copy (between Pine & Bush) that is much friendlier and doesnt overcharge their customers. I shipped three large canvas prints for under $20 - they took care of finding a large box for me that would fit, securely packaging the artwork, and finding the cheapest way for me to ship it. My fiance recently had to ship two smaller canvas prints, so I told him to go to this place, but he got confused and went to the UPS store instead, and was charged an outrageous $80, $50 of which were for the materials and the womans time to package it. I really dont know how theyre able to get away with this sort of thing. Please do yourself, your wallet, and all other consumers out there a favor and avoid this store (try Eco Copy instead!), and hopefully it will eventually be driven out of business. For my part, Im going to report this franchise to UPS headquarters, the Better Business Bureau, and the California Department of Consumer Affairs.
My experience in this store was frustrating at best and I warn other customers not to go there if you have to fax or mail anything important. This store is poorly managed and the staff is poorly trained. I went there today to fax a legal document due today. I spoke to Josh beforehand, inquiring about the cost of faxing. However, he didnt warn me that the fax machine which prints out a confirmation was out of ink. If he had told me that it was out of ink, I would have gone to another store to fax my legal document. When the clerk returned my fax after charging me $25 she told me she couldnt print out a confirmation because the machine was out of ink. She offered to refund my money but I said the fax was due today and I didnt care about the moneybut needed a confirmation that this legal document was sent. She made some calls but said she couldnt do anything about the problem. Another clerk backed her up and made irresponsible comments like you can take your business else where, and when I told her it was a legal document I had faxed and it had to be in today and didnt have time to go to another store, she didnt have a clue about the importance of getting a confirmation that a legal document was sent. The other clerk was more helpful but it took her several phone calls while I waited for about 15 minutes to solve this problem. It was only after I said that I would report this problem that she found a solution: to write me a receipt confirming that my fax had been sent. She also refunded my money. One clerk also said the machine that confirms faxes had been out of ink for weeks. My guess is that the reason the clerks in this store didnt warn me that I wouldnt get a fax confirmation is that they get paid based on the number of faxes they send. So my advice is dont go to this poorly managed store where some of the staff are irresponsible and ignorant about the protocols of faxing important documents, particularly legal ones.
Horrible experience today! I wrapped a shoe box (return item) with some thick paper and attached a label to it. When I dropped it off and asked for a receipt, this weird guy started ripping the paper off to show me how it would rip on the conveyor belt, etc... it was humiliating, disgusting! I was stunned, couldnt utter a word! Just grabbed my now naked box and walked away! I would never walk into that store again! much rather go to staples a couple of blocks away or the mailbox on fillmore even if a little further away.
Ive had a box here for years, I frequently drop off packages here, and Ive used the notary a few times. I find the staff friendly and attentive, especially in the past 2-3 years. One reviewer said zero wait, on average this is true but there are times when there is a wait, which is fine.Ive seen the people who give bad reviews in the store they are the unreasonably angry ones. I witness how the staff handles these situations and they are patient and courteous and 99% of the time come up with a solution.---BTW, a print out that a FAX was sent is proof of nothing. That reviewer basically wasted everybodys time, including their own, for a meaningless piece of paper. Best way to find out if a FAX was sent, call the recipient.
I was dropping off many items from Asos, and asked for receipt which they often give me. This time the person there starting throwing my stuff around. I asked him politely to watch they get damaged, he goes and I quote: I dont give a shot about drop off. You are not a customer of ups. You are a customer of Asos. I asked him what did I do wrong, he goes I dont give a shot again. Asked the next customer to step to be served and ignored me. He even didnt return the stuff he threw on the floor. It was humiliating. I did not believe it. I did nothing.
The drivers dont follow the delivery instructions that are printed on the package!! Maybe they should start hiring some drivers who CAN read!!!I have had 4 packages stolen this month because the driver left my packages in the lobby instead of leaving it at the exact apartment! Once I got home from work the package was already gone !!Very upset!!
ZERO STARS. This place is a dump. Highly inefficient. I refuse to give them my business. They make you hand fill out, double and triple entry, all these stupid forms. It is MUCH MUCH FASTER to go to the post office and queue up for a few minutes. If I have a UPS parcel that I have pre-paid, I would sooner walk it to the proper UPS office down in the Financial District than darken the door of this kip.
I cant rate it lower so this must suffice. If it wasnt for the fact that this was the closest UPS store to my house, I wouldnt have used it. Dropped off a package for an Amazon return and sent the label to be printed online for $0.09. Get there and have to explain with the guy that its already been paid for and no, I dont have to pay the $2.50+ he was quoting me for one sheet of paper. Then another lady took the box, which only needed to have a piece of shipping tape be put over it and she berated me for not having it fully taped up. Again, I needed half of the printout of the shipping label to go INSIDE of the box, but the lady wanted me to make sure I never do this again or else Ill be charged. For a few inches of tape. Just remember that these stores are independently owned so its on them, and not UPS as a whole.
Sometimes the computers arent always working when you need them to but Ill give this place 5 stars because of Rick. He is so helpful and upbeat every time I come in. He seems to have a solution for everything and the patience of a saint. I appreciate having this spot in my neighborhood.
I preordered the iPhone 11 Pro 256GB in Space Gray. I had it delivered to this store to be held for me while I was out of town. Rick, the store manager signed for the phone once it was delivered, but then he said it was missing when I went in to pick it up.I believe an employee stole it, and this has turned into a huge inconvenience for me. I would avoid this store at all costs.

2022-06-13I was in there with my boyfriend last week to return a package. There were two ladies working, they were rude and sounded annoyed when we asked for help. They were frustrated we asked any questions. I have worked in restaurants and retail for 10 plus years. I understand working with people and I’ve have never felt inclined to write any reviews ever. They have changed that today. After we left, we realized we were charged $20 dollars for using the computer for 5minutes. We had such a terrible experience we didn’t bother to go back just to avoid dealing with them. A week later (today) we get a noticed that the one that “helped” us, didn’t send an invoice with our package. Literally it is the only job she had to do and now our package is stuck because of her incompetence. I will never go to this store and I live a couple blocks away. I will probably go in there in person and also let them know in person,, but I figured this will give them a heads up.

2022-05-23Hate to write this because the manager is such a great guy! He is always so sweet and helpful, but just had a horrible experience with a woman working at this location. I selected an Amazon return in which it said QR code, no box required. When I went to return the employee told me next time the box would need to be sealed and that shed do me a favor this time and tape it for me. The attitude and tone in which she conveyed this information was so unnecessary and quite frankly passive aggressive. Arent you supposed to be helping me? What happened to good old fashioned customer service? I told her I selected the no box/QR code option, at that point she put a sign in front of me saying that it requires and box and needs to be sealed. Then walked away while I attempted to pull up the QR code. Apparently it only works from the app not the return confirmation email. The manager tried to interject nicely explaining that there are a few different codes and that sometimes they require the box to be sealed. Again, she repeated shed do me a favor and seal it for me.... I told her I simply needed it shipped back to the sender and that I wouldnt be back to this location. Why the attitude? I understand we all have bad days, but theres a way to explain a situation to a customer and a way not too. Why not say, unfortunately packages have to be sealed for security purposes or we have to charge you to tape them, whatever your reason is. The attitude was so unnecessary. Very disappointing as Ive been using this location for 10+ years. Guess Ill be going to The North Beach location from now on....

2022-06-02Place is straight up rude and sketchy.I had a package delivered here. The tracking said it arrived. The clerk kept trying to tell me it wasn’t there and dismissing me although the tracking said it was there.I asked her for her name, and she said no. I wasn’t even rude or angry. I wasn’t accusing her of anything. I just wanted it for reference when I call customer support. Why not provide your name unless you did something wrong? Did you take my package home after work or something? If you’re an employee and won’t identify yourself, I’m sorry but you are sketchy af. What kind of legitimate business does that?If you’re the UPS Store owner, this is the person who was working at 10am on Thursday June 2nd.Update - Customer support told me it’s in that store. Support asked me to put her on the phone, they had a bit of a disagreement, and then he hung up on her. Who hires this kind of person? UPS Customer support can’t even deal with her.Update 2 - It was there. She just didn’t look. She also said it had been there for 8 days. Like why do you feel the need to lie? We have a tracking number. We know exactly how long it’s been there. Just can’t believe how rude person can be. It could have been a simple “let me look.”

2022-06-01Hesham is really a wonderful and kind person. I watched him interact with multiple people while I was in line and he was extremely patient, helpful and a kind soul. It’s rare to see someone show so much patience with so many demanding people and treat them so kindly. This was my first time at this location and I will definitely come back here even though it’s farther away from me. Thank you Hesham, for adding a silver lining to my day through your extremely kind and gentle demeanor! People like you in today’s society are rare.

2022-07-19Employee will not give her name.Has hung up on me numerous times when requesting to speak to a manager. This has got to be the most unprofessional experience I have encountered trying to get some help on an insured package that’s sitting in their store.I will be reporting Besma and this franchise to corporate headquarters.Do not give this place a dime. This place is poorly managed and they are ok with this.Trust your gut. Don’t do it.

2022-01-31The worst UPS Store I have ever encountered. Not just the worst in San Francisco, not just the worst in California, not just the worst on the West Coast, but the worst in the entire country. Go anywhere else. They will not only be extremely unhelpful, but will take every opportunity to charge unnecessary fees.

2022-01-18Great service from most employees makes up for some impatient ones. Special shout out to Rick for being awesome and providing great customer service! Always puts a smile on my face when he is there to help.

2021-10-17Bad. Deceptive pricing and shady practices. Go somewhere else – save yourself not just a bad experience, but an encounter with an irate and easily agitated business owner(?)/manager(?). I can’t remember the last time I dealt with a business so unashamed of their dubious practices.I went in today to print a utility bill. According to the website I should be able to Email it to an address provided by the store and have it printed. The man behind the counter said that wasn’t possible and I would have to use a computer to access my Email and print it from there. (Ok… no problem.)Logging in to the computer you have to agree to the terms and conditions – for some reason he rushes over at that point and takes the mouse and scrolls all the way to the bottom for me and then clicks “accept” for me, without asking. (Umm... Okay…?). Of course, the computer is old, slow, and can’t handle the second factor authentication on my Gmail so I Email the document to my Hotmail account from high school and print it from there.Once that was accomplished, I went to collect my printed pages and THAT was when he reveals to me that I need to pay $3.20 for having used the computer for less than 10 minutes. When I complained that he never told me that, he responded by saying that if I look around the store, there’s a sign up somewhere explaining it.I said I felt ambushed and questioned again why he couldn’t let me email him the document per their website and that’s when he got really agitated, fuming angrily about he is a franchisee and this isn’t FedEx. How are you going to get so aggressive with customers when they call you out on your deceptive pricing and shady business practices? How many unsuspecting and conflict-avoidant customers have you successfully intimidated and bilked like this? This isn’t much money but I no longer trust you.I love the review replies from the owner on here inviting upset reviewers to call the business to sort it out – I tried to sort it out with you in the store and you got agitated and indignant: I seriously doubt your intention to find a mutually acceptable understanding and resolution to the complaints. I also tried to call you to revisit my dissatisfaction once I got home but I discovered first hand that you don’t answer the phone (as extensively noted in all the other reviews).I’m really disappointed with this experience as I have previously had a very good experience shipping from your store – but with one of your staff members who wasn’t here today. I am not a fan of Russian roulette and don’t want to gamble on whether I’ll get the good staff or the owner. I can’t see myself returning to such an unscrupulous business.

2021-09-01The manager at the store was SO helpful! He kept the trucks waiting a few extra minutes and helped me get some heavy boxes (from moving out!) out the door to where I needed them. I’m so grateful for the help, respectful customer service, and friendliness of this store and staff!

2021-11-04AMAZON RETURNS BEWARE: They will charge you $5 for one piece of tape. Also $5 to print one label. $9+ if you need to buy a box to return your amazon item.Once you get past that, the Employees are extremely nice and helpful.
