This RV Park is the cleanest park weve been in years. Sites are big and easy to get into and out . The grounds are immaculately maintained; Park is gated; safe and secure. The only downside are the trains that go by several times a night but they dont blow their horn close to the park. Overall, this Park is an excellent choice for a stay in Bakersfield. We will definitely stay here again.
What a nice surprise! We decided at the last minute to stop for the night and found Shady/Shaded Haven listed in RV Parky. Jessica answered our phone call and was amazingly friendly and helpful. After checking in, another employee hopped in a golf cart, led us directly to our spot, and gave us a description of the amenities. (One member of our family gave the hot tub two thumbs up!) We truly felt like welcome guests. Excellent hospitality!
Office staff, especially Jessica, was very friendly and helpful. We were only there about 3 weeks but met some great neighbors. Park was very secure & clean, room for 2 vehicles to park behind RV. Trains are loud, but with the windows closed and AC on, its tolerable. They were just putting up the cabana tarp over the RVs. Looks like it would make a difference by adding shade over your camper. The heat here is brutal. Very nice feature!
Shady Haven RV is very clean & safe. The staff are very helpful and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have what you need. The hot tub was very relaxing but the pool is not heated and was too cold to swim in. It was easy to pull our 30’ travel trailer into and out of the park. Our site was long enough to stay hitched up since we were just passing through and spending one night. We would visit here again, and stay longer!
Loved this RV park! The staff was so amazing. Jessica was super friendly and funny, amazing customer service with the first phone call all the way to the end.Level parking, full hookups included 30 & 50 amp electrical. Swimming pool & jacuzzi still available during covid (reservation to keep safe) and was open 24 hours! My favorite part. They had a really cute rec room with a big tv & laundry as well as updated bathrooms - each bathroom had a nice hot welcoming shower. 10/10 would stay again ✨
We stayed at Shady haven for two months this Summer, 2019.They have a nice laundry room with coin services on site. The bathrooms were always clean and smelled good. The pool and hot tub were amazing even on a summer night! The pool is shaded during the summer days to help keep it nice and refreshing. The service at this camp ground is AMAZING! The staff is always very friendly and helped with anything we needed! They even let us borrow a ladder to clean our roof!Monthly: Our site included water and sewage. We paid electric based off of our meter. You do need to pay electric separately to the camp ground staff. They have propane on site!Dogs are welcome. They usually have a rule about 2 dogs but made an exception for the 3 we have. Dogs are to be on a leash at all times but they do have a beautiful 15 yard by 30 yard off leash dog park area. It is even lit at night! They provide bags in this area as well so if you forget yours they have them handy. Pick up your poop, there is a fine if you don’t!
Oh wow!! This place is amazing, it’s also super safe and immaculately clean!!!! We had the pleasure of meeting Jessica and Oslo the managers here and they are super sweet and they truly care!!! They went way out of their way to make my stay was a very pleasurable one.Luckily they answer the phone after hours as I needed help unhooking my water hose so I could run to Walmart quickly. Oslo Wasted no time coming out to help me.I will definitely be back!!Out of this world customer service and one of the cleanest parks I have ever stayed at..oh I failed to mention they honor half off if you are a passport America holder!!
I was lucky to find this place! After a long, difficult drive, they were super welcoming (even though I didn’t have a reservation).Hannah checked me in and escorted me to my spot. Nice and quiet (except for the occasional trains) 😊So nice to be able to get set up after dark without struggling. The sites are pull through and the services are easy to access. The brand new bathroom was a nice bonus.I was very comfortable here and would love to stay again when I come back this way.
We stayed at Shady Haven for 6 months, while working as a travel nurse at Kern Medical. This was by far the best RV park for us! The management treated us like family, yet they run this park like a well oiled machine! They take care of any issues immediately. There are upgrades being done that are making the park even nicer. The security of having a card key gate made us feel completely safe. No one can just drive in and look around, unless they have a card. Everything is so clean, nice pool, laundry, bathrooms, with new facilities under construction. I worked nights, so slept during the day, and it was always quiet. We would most definitely stay at Shady Haven again, if ever in the area! Thank you for a wonderful time in Bakersfield!
We have been at this park as monthly and overnighter. Both experiences were fantastic. The park is clean and well maintained. There are sparkling clean showers, brand new community and exercise rooms as well as clean laundry facilities (and a stocked CHANGE MACHINE so you dont need to go to the bank). We love the relaxed pace that is family friendly and an exceptional staff to care for pretty much anything you need. The location is out of town and safe in a monitored and gated facility. The only negative is the nightly train nearby (but isnt that in EVERY RV Park?)Overall, this is our goto place when we come by for a visit of just pass thru. You should as well.
I recommend this RV community to anyone! We utilized the extended stay/contractor space rental as well as the storage units they have on site- and am impressed on the operation the owners have there. Safe, secure, clean and accommodations above any place I have encountered certainly in Kern County hands down! The property is maintained and monitored so I had no anxiety being at work all day- our things were safe! The owners do things for the kids making a fun playground and scheduling activities for holidays! They noticed the kids digging in the dirt and the next day a huge elaborate sand box got put in for them! I can’t say enough about he owners Leah and Paul, as well as Hanna! You guys have a great thing going, we wish you all the best! thank you SHADY HAVEN!!Mike and Kelley Fleming!!
We were there in July of this year and traveled from Georgia to California. This was my favorite RV park and we stayed six days. Also our daughter and her family were in their camper. I felt very safe and the grandchildren were able to play and I wasnt afraid for their safety. Also the park was very clean, quiet and full hookups. The grands and I enjoyed the pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I recommend this park if you are traveling through Bakersfield.
I am a travel nurse and we stayed at Shady Haven RV park from June to August. This is a great park, very safe and the owners are meticulous in their care of the facility. The bathrooms/showers are clean and very nicely decorated, they have a small workout room and the pool was great. If you are planning on coming to this area you cannot do better than this park! Cost is reasonable and having the shade during the summer is a major advantage! We felt very safe here and I highly recommend Shady Haven RV park for anyone coming to this area to work.
While the name is ironic, to wit, theres almost no shade here, this is a very clean, well-managed park. Apparently, many of the residents live there full time for professional reasons. Those sites have protective sun sails positioned over them. The dailies are unprotected, but are well- equipped with awesome utility posts.Parking pads are cement and even. I was just passing through so I didnt use the pool. However, it was lovely, albeit very small. It also had protective sun sails and the furniture was high quality residential. Im sure the residents enjoy going there after work to socialize and cool off in the pool. With my Passport America discount, it was a good deal. There are train lines very close by, but I love trains, so they werent a problem. Overall, a good place to overnight.
We only stayed here one night, but what we saw was impressive. Based on the miserable heat and the train tracks they should get 1 star, but there is so much good about this park. They have canopies for some spots. Their pull through spots are very easy to access and no need to disconnect the tow vehicle. They are also clean, level, and in good working order They are doing social distancing very effectively. No need to go into the office. All facilities are clean. And they have some showers where a disabled person can have a helper of either gender. This is so very helpful and missing from most parks. I highly recommend this park. Just be sure your AC works well.
I am an older single female nurse. I have had an RV at Shady Haven for quite some time now. I don’t stay there permanently, but frequent it when I’m in town to visit my family. I must say that the new owners have done an amazing job with the place. When I first brought my RV here, I was really concerned about both staying here and also leaving my RV I attended. It was pretty rough here. Lehea, one of the owners, assured me that it was safe and that they were making efforts daily to improved the safety and security of the park. After more than a year, I feel absolutely safe and sound staying here alone. I’m also quite at ease leaving my RV when I’m not here. So much has been done to make this place like my home away from home. The pool and spa are amazing and I love relaxing on the hot summer days. The owners have completely overhauled the bathrooms and laundry. Today I saw Paul, the other half of the owner couple, working on the building by the pool. He tells me that they are renovating and building a gym and a community room!! It’s turned into such a nice place I sometimes wish that I could just retire right now that way I could stay here more often.
This park is aiming to be a wellness community and they are definitely headed in the right direction! The park was immaculate and the owners were even better. My boyfriend and I had been traveling for two days and it was so nice to be greeted with a friendly, & safe atmosphere! Neither of us are smokers & it put us at ease to hear that it wasn’t allowed in the park. Gate key entry made us feel extremely safe, & the hot tub was amazing. Overall, I highly recommend this park if you’re looking for a relaxing environment & clean amenities.
We stayed here from January to May of 2019 and it was truly our home away from home! We were brand new RV owners on our first travel nursing assignment in California and this was the best first experience at RV living! The park is beautiful, very clean and safe! The gated entry and security system is such a peace of mind while we worked night shift! The spa and pool were always clean and it has been so nice wanting to hang it at your RV park on your days off! I would often go for runs around the park and the other residents are very friendly! We’ve made friends in this park that will last us a lifetime including the owners! Paul and Leah go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect for their guests! We are so sad to be leaving! I couldn’t recommend this park enough! If you’re in Bakersfield this is the place to stay!!
So, I delayed writing a review of this place initially on accident. I completely forgot the first time that we stayed here, but am writing it now that we are back for round 2! My wife and I are traveling professionals and since we are returning customers it must be pretty nice right? We stayed here our first time for 11 months (3 month contract extended and extended). This time we are back for just a short stay while attending to some local business. Originally, we were a bit worried about staying here. We booked our stay based on availability and THEN started reading reviews. Many of them were horrible. Then upon further investigation we realized that the majority of the poor reviews were prior to new ownership. On a whim we decided to take a drive (our contract at the was only a couple hours away) and see the place first hand. This place turned out to be amazing. Upon arriving we were given a tour and told of all the security measures they had in place to keep everyone safe. This was a breath of fresh air since most places we have stayed, even gated access, have been a free for all of thievery. Soon after we arrived we found out that the owners are a no nonsense couple and dont put up guests who cause a disturbance. They are quick to jump on problems to keep things from escalating. Its nice that they care so much about their residents that they dont just let things go. (insert bad apple spoiling the bunch reference here) My thought on this is that they would rather get rid of someone causing a problem than let it effect multiple guests over time. Good for them, because Im sure that many of the 1 star reviews lately have been from those who have caused problems and found themselves evicted. The park is in a constant state of improvement. Since we have been here, the bathrooms have been completely renovated and I mean super plush. Originally the bathrooms were generic community group bathrooms that were falling in. Now they are individual units that would rival even a 4 star hotel. Definitely the nicest of ANY RV park Ive seen. The laundry room just received a full makeover and is loaded with brand new high capacity front loading units. It even has a TV and vending machine for you while you wait. The pool and hot tub are amazing (and still open with a sign up sheet and social distancing requirement during Covid). The owners have even been heating the pool on chilly days. +1 extra star for that one! There is usually a morning group walk and some have even been having a morning workout. If you are traveling through the Bakersfield area or coming here for work, this place should be on your radar. It is safe, quiet, very nice and well maintained. Working the usually long hours that we do, its nice to be able to come home and relax. Take a walk around the park, visit with neighbors and watch the kids play in the park. It really is like a small community to itself.
I had stayed in the space at this park for a couple months right when the pandemic started and they were excellent on taking all the precautions as well as accommodating to guests. Recently there was a misunderstanding with the storage unit I had there and I had traveled a long way to get into and when I got to the storage unit it was locked after hours they were very kind enough to get up early and unlock it for me so I could get in and be on my way more than thankful for their service and the park is beautiful to stay
After searching for a SAFE, quiet, and clean RV Park for my husbands job relocation we found Shady Haven! Having the required key cards and surrounding cameras makes my family feel safe when we are in the park or out for work. Beyond this, Shady Haven is animal friendly at no extra cost and provide two dog parks that are maintained. The office employees and new owners are more than helpful. If you ever have any problems the maintenance man is more than willing to help, including refilling propane tanks by the end of the day if placed out in the morning. The facilities have been recently remodeled and shade has been placed over the common areas to reduce heat exposure! The rules within the park are enforced no matter the financial loss or bad review. The owners care more about the quality of the community as opposed to the quantity which matters in a month to month environment. Any complaints are handled quickly any time of day or night, and professionally no matter the response from the non-complaint residence. We have NEVER had any issues with the owners or employees! If we ever are relocated back to Bakersfield, we will definitely return to Shady Haven!
This is an awesome RV Park! Hannah was so helpful getting us checked in and settled. We had a level pull through FHU site which was perfect since we were traveling through, staying only one night and not wanting to unhook our 42 fifth wheel from our long bed dually truck. We had a good nights sleep and it was a great deal at $30 with Passport America. Check it out if you are in the area.
We’ve been here now for a few days and our staying for the month at least for my husbands work. This place is very nice. It’s been cleaned up like reviews have stated and the staff here is amazing. They bend over backwards to make your stay as pleasant as posible. The park has dog parks and walks. The other campers seem to be lovely that we’ve met. With all of the security updates they have we feel nice and safe here.
I’ve traveled to numerous RV parks to visit my nomadic parents, and Shady Haven is by far the nicest that I’ve visited. The property is very clean and very well maintained. The property feels very safe and secure. The owners made certain that I felt welcome. I had a great time enjoying the clean pool area and enjoyed walking my dogs around the property. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting the area.
This rv park was a really good place to stay long term or short. It is not far from the freeway. Has 50 amp, cable, and wifi! My wife and I full time and we stayed here from November to June. The lots are not huge but we could take our 38 for 5th wheel and a 16 foot cargo trailer end to end and still could park our small car sideways behind. They have improved a lot of things including: sun shade over pool in summer, large laundry facility, bathrooms and showers, etc. One great highlight is that it is gated and they are very careful about who comes in. That kind of security means a lot. They have dog parks on each side (one is fenced and the other is not). This is a pretty calm place though there is some noise from the juice facility next door and there are emergency sirens occasionally. This is a park that is geared to contractors so dont expect a luxury resort, though it does have benefits. This was also one of the cheapest places to stay. The are some who have had negative encounters with the owners, but the majority of the time (my opinion is 99%) the people did not follow the rules and were asked to leave. This included smoking (not allowed) even after being warned, playing loud music, letting others in the park who are not approved, ect.We most definitely would stay again. We will most definitely get the shaded spots when the sun starts to heat up (totally worth the extra per month-will save you on electricity).Pros:SafeQuiet (inside the park)Fair priceHas nice amenities (pool, laundry, dog park, bathrooms, showers, and gated)50 ampWaterCableWifiCons:No grass at trailer spotsA contractor park (some families)Its in the California heatArea around the park looks rough (no fault of the park)
I am a traveling professional who has stayed at many RV parks across the US and after staying at Shady Haven on 2 separate occasions now, I have to say it is one of the BEST parks I have ever stayed at! Everything from the parks amenities and cleanliness to the owners and staff at Shady Haven, everything and everyone are truly amazing! I also have to mention that I have never felt more safe at a park. It is gated with key card access only, tall fences with razor wire and monitored security cameras. Can’t wait to revisit Shady Haven in the future!
New owners who have done a fantastic job cleaning up this place! Lots of security and attention to the enjoyment of campers. Good mix of daily, monthly and long term residents. Beautiful pool and spa. Nice place, and close to the highway. I would definitely return!!! Only negative... kind of close to train but at least they dont blow their horns!
A very welcoming place. Sites are very clean and organized. Cement pad and full hookup. Love all the palm trees.Staff are excellent and gave great recommendations on places to eat. There is a cute little dog park. I gave them 5 stars but if you haven’t invested in a sound machine yet for your RV you will probably take one off for the train that runs behind the park. There is no horn. Just the rumble of freight trains going by. Like I said, get yourself some white noise and things like that won’t bother you wherever you go. Otherwise, the park is very quiet.Would stay here again.
What a great find in the Bakersfield area. We travel back and forth between northern California and Phoenix twice every year and need a stop near Bakersfield for just one night. Their overnight spots are planned so well. We have a big rig pulling a pickup and need a long, level site for easy set up. Thats what they have! Great planning for the hookups also. Includes a nice patio and picnic table. Easy in and out to the street. As a bonus, the owner we met is a fabulous, friendly, and competent person willing to assist in any way. We didnt use the pool or hot tub, but the grounds are immaculate and the pool and patio area is spotless. By the way, we feel the trains going by are a bonus! Makes us smile.
My husband and I stayed at Shady Haven for a little over a year while I was here on travel nursing contracts. We watched the owners work tirelessly making park upgrades throughout our stay. The park is very clean and the owners and staff were always friendly and helpful. Bakersfield is not the safest place I’ve ever been, but I have to say I always felt safe at this park, even when my husband was out town. The park is fully enclosed with a gate that requires an electric keycard. While I don’t have my own children, I would feel safe letting my children play outside here. Kids are often riding their bikes around the park together. I feel like the owners watch our for everyone’s safety, as does the community as a whole. Park is filled with mostly contract workers for the monthly spots, like nurses and lineman. Nice large spaces if passing through for a couple nights as well.
As a independently contracting healthcare professional, I was so very fortunate to find Shady Haven RV Resort. Shady Haven is tailor-made for people like me. I spent over 4 months here while on contract in Bakersfield. From convenient LPG refills returned to my trailer to mail delivery to my own box, I never lacked for anything. Coming to my little Airstream after a long day was always an “ahhhh, it’s good to be home” moment. Completely gated and monitored, the park is safe and secure, I never felt at risk once. Even when returning at odd hours after being on call. The owners must be the hardest working campground hosts in the business. Everyday I saw ongoing maintenance and improvements. New well-appointed private bathroom suites were completed during my stay, and a new laundry room with awesome updated machines. The best laundering facility I’ve seen in ANY campground. An exercise room was under construction just before I left. The pool area is always clean. Sniffing the fragrant orange blossoms while walking around the campground is a bonus. The place is spotless!I’ve traveled a lot. Shady Haven has my vote. But it’s not just for contract workers. Whether spending several weeks or just a few days, they have everything you need. It’s easy to access. There are sites for all sizes and room to maneuver even the biggest rigs. Best of all, the owners and staff are wonderful people, all of them. Like a breath of fresh air in the campground and RV industry. Next time I have a contract in Bakersfield, I’ll return to Shady Haven. Many thanks, you guys ROCK!
Thank you for letting us stay here in our tiny home! The new owners are great - they allowed us to do a “stay & store” package at a very fair rate and made our visit to Bakersfield and the surrounding areas convenient and affordable since we were able to store the house a few days and go visit with friends and family. The park feels very safe and well maintained- giant wall around it, gates to get in and out, we didn’t have an issue at all.
Easy on, easy off the freeway. Very friendly staff who escort you to your site and offer any help needed. They take pride in their facility by adding improvements. There is a pool and jacuzzi and brand new bathrooms. Very little grass, but level full hook up pull thru sites that allowed us to stay hooked up (40 ft 5th wheel with long bed truck). Great overnight space to rest for the night. It is by the train tracks but the trains rarely sounded horns so it didnt bother us.
Feels like home.We found Shady Haven online after reviewing all that Bakersfield had to offer. We are locals here and weren’t sure about the location since we were having to stay a couple months..Let me tell you, we’ve never felt so safe or at home. My husband is a lineman and is away from home A LOT! I homeschool our two boys and are home alone a lot! We feel very safe, the kids can ride their bikes and play without worry. Our big lab is also comfortable, we can play frisbee at the dog parks with plenty or room, and we all love the nice pool/spa.The owners go out of their way to make you feel at home and welcome. Lots of traveling nurses and lineman who stay for months at a time, it’s a quiet and safe community. We stay in the covered sites ($100 extra and well worth it in the summer) it helps to keep your energy bill down and camp a lot cooler. We are very happy with Shady Haven. They are working daily to renovate all areas, and the improvements already done are awesome. So thankful we found this place!
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. The campground is wonderful. Very nice sites and bathrooms Plus felt safe with the security. The only thing Ill forewarn you about is the trains. Trains dont blow their horns during the day BUT at night they do. All 3 mornings we had the pleasure of waking up at 4 AM by the train horns.
Would love to give 5 stars, but the train noise which they cant control makes it a very nice 4 star park. Trains werent too bad until the horn blowing started around 5 AM! Excellent staff, the pull throughs are nice, we are 61 ft, If your rig was 45 ft or less no problem. We didnt have any trouble at 61ft and they were very accomodating to make sure we fit and could get out, but if the park was full would not be easy the way its layed out. Very nice pool area and spa, reasonably priced laundry, clean bathrooms (although old) looks like things are being renovated. They are passport America which is one reason we chose this park on our way through town. The condition of the park and friendly staff will definitely put this on our list of parks to return to when in the area! Also make sure to visit Don Perico Mexican Grill & Bar, youll have a 20% discount card with your gate key. Very good and great service too!
This is a great place to stay i spent 2 weeks here it is clean and has full hookups even free cable and wifi. the laundry room is nice and everything works well. the bathrooms and shower are clean. the whole park is clean. they have a dog park and are pet friendly. the management is awesome the guy that runs the office is helpful and kind person. it is priced right and would stay here anytime. we enjoyed our stay. thank you!
Under new owners and this has to be one of the best run parks we’ve lived in. My husband and I are full time RV’ers in our 30s and we always have a hard time finding a safe, clean, uncluttered, and affordable place with nice neighbors. It’s a gated park too! This RV place has all of it! Clean amenities and perfect, hospitable customer service. We’ve been here for a month can’t wait to stay here again each year! The only negative is the train is right beside the park and you can hear it occasionally every day. It doesn’t bother us though. If that’s the worst thing in this park, we’re still happy!
We stopped here in a travel trailer for an overnighter. Park was very clean with mostly pull thru sites that were gravel. Our site was a long beutiful concrete pad. New hookups with both 30 and 50 amp service. Nice clean pool and spa was a save because it was so hot. Located only about 7 minutes from the 99 freeway. Owner was at the pool and told us they are adding more amenities in the near future. Very nice person. Many long term residents but appeared to be retirees and working people. Only down thing was the nearby train tracks but at least they didnt blow the horn! Would come back again.
We stay there last week and we were very nervous cause of the negatives reviews about thieves. We did not have a problem. I think they kicked out alot of monthly people that were causing the problem. We were parked very close to the trains. We enjoyed the trains and they didnt bother us at night at all. The park was very clean and nice level cemented sites. It was 104° that week and the pool was not open due to being under construction. That was quite a bummer. Dorian and Henry were very nice at the front desk. We would stay there again.
I do have a few complaints, however they are actively working on fixing them already.First off they have posted signs(bathroom, hot tub/pool, etc) with times they don’t fully abide by.Second, there was no soap or towels in the male bathrooms, lights were left on sometimes, and one of their showers had a seat fix in place so it may make it more difficult to shower.Third, in the monthly park there are loads of gooseberrys (little sticky/poky things) they kept getting stuck to our dogs fur. However it is a very nice park lots of shade. They are working on changing or becoming stricter as the adjust the layout of their facilities. On the flip side they have a very nice area to relax by the pool, they’ve added a vending machine and shade to help keep it cool, they are very nice people and great fun. I definitely recommend staying if you find yourself traveling through Bakersfield!
What a perfect quaint location.Extremely safe, locked location!!!Clean!! Quiet!!!If my job wasn’t done in the area I would stay for ever.Prices are right, staff were helpful.Highly recommend. As a professional traveling worker I wish all parks were like this one!!!I’ll be back....Thanks for having me
Noticed this place on our way to spend the night at a Walmart and we couldnt be happier with the decision to stay here instead. It is more than just better than a Walmart parking lot. It is clean, quiet (except the occasional train), and safe. The owners are great people and our kids had a blast playing with their kids in the pool. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to our friends and family.
Owner and a young man (her son?) were both very kind and hospitable. They give your doggies treats! Checking in and out was easy. Prices were reasonable, and we ended up staying an extra day. Propane is also available for $3 per gallon, but they only fill up in the mornings
We stay in this park each time we are near Bakersfield. We stayed for the month of January and then another week in August. We have stayed at this park several times over the past 2 years. The managers are really great people and will do whatever it takes to help you. Bathrooms and laundry were clean and well equipped. Pet friendly. Lots of food stores and restaurants close by. We would stay here again, it was easy in and out. I will continue to stop at this park when in Bakersfield.
Beautiful gated RV Park with level, paved sites surrounded by tall palm trees. Crystal clear pool, warm hot tub, adequate facilities that are even being upgraded soon! Accepts Passport America discount for up to 7 nights. Customer Service is superb and the keep this RV Park very safe with access by keycard only. There is a train that passes by but we’ve not heard a train horn so it’s not a bother for us at all. Absolutely fantastic experience. #themcmillanexpress
Very speedy check-in process. Every person that works here has been so pleasant & helpful. The sites are all level, & nicely maintained. All are pull-thru sites, & long enough that we didnt have to disconnect our truck from our trailer. Modern hook-up pedestals. There are 2 septic connections for each site, so you can pick the most convenient one. Cable hook-ups included in the price, with 60 channels. Water pressure is adequate. Every pedestal has 50 amp, 30 amp, & 20 amp electric plugs. This place is fenced & gated, so you feel very secure. The only drawback, & the reaon this is not a 5 star park, is some traffic noise, & an occasional train. Nothing too annoying though. We would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I are traveling physical therapists and we stayed at Shady Haven while we were on contract in the area. We didnt expect much from RV Parks in Bakersfield but we were pleasantly surprised by how nice this park is. The owners are a younger couple that have some great ideas and are already beginning to upgrade this once dinghy RV Park. The park is divided into two sections, overnighters and long-term. As traveling medical professionals that full-time in our motorhome, we rely on RV Parks that offer month to month sites while were working in the area. However, you wont see RVs with flat tires and junk piled around them here. Long-term residents are expected to move their rigs every so often to prevent this unsightly problem. We felt safe the whole time we were here with the gated entrance and a tall fence around the entire property. Keep an eye on this place. Its already much nicer than it was and it should only get better with Layla and her husband, whos name is escaping me, in charge!
I worked here and let me just say, I loved working with every single person Ive met thereI do know that some people give management a hard time but I want to point out that they work 24/7 (even when theyre not supposed to be **cough* dont knock on their door at 4am *cough* for that park and its going amazing with the upkeep and upgrades its getting. I know Jessica and Skyler will do amazing in the office and oslo and frank do great with making sure its a safe & clean environment for all their guests.
5 stars for helpful staff. 5 stars for convience, ease, maintenance, cleanliness and security. 5 stars for rates. 3 stars for parking-lot amviance (there is a prettier side which might be for either longer-term or for folks who dont care about being close to the dog area). 2 stars for many trains going by. We would certainly stop-over again.
Priced well. Bathrooms were clean. The place is old. Not in a very good area. Constant train noise. Dog crying and barking all day. In the space we had one nieghbor who just stayed in his car the entire daytime listening to am radio, smoking and drinking alcohol and the other stayed outside smoking all day. We could never open our windows. When it rained it got muddy. The personnel was very nice and helpful.
This is as nice a park as you will find...as long as they have room for you on the paved side. There is a dividing fence and the other side looks a little dicey with old run down RVs, accumulated junk, etc. But on the right side, as I said, its very nice and clean. Reception was very friendly and we saw and met some nice rigs and nice people. Wifi good. There is a train track just outside the park that has traffic most of the day and night.
Made overnight stop here. Great find! Some of the nicest owners we have ever dealt with. Stayed on an overnight site (40MH). Level, paved, large site with patio and picnic table, FHU, cable, Wi-Fi. Walled and gated park so felt very secure. Please note it is located right next to railroad tracks so if trains are not your thing, then may be issue. We had no problem or complaints at all! Will absolutely stay again if in area.
Stayed for 1 overnight. Nice level concrete pads in the section where I stayed (site numbers in 300s). Good wifi with my external antenna raised higher than the tall Class A next to me. Clean, friendly. The negatives are that it is nearly adjacent to the railroad tracks so you hear trains and their horns day and night, and adjacent to an elevated busy road. Nevertheless it was fine for one night enroute. Rate $25 with Good Sam discount. Id stay again.
Weve stayed here as an overnight stop twice in the last month, and would stay here again if in the area. The GOOD: Its clean, well-maintained, and has a very large off-leash area for dogs. You may also be able to use your Passport America membership and get half-off the nightly rates (depending on the day of the week). The BAD: There is a train track nearby and trains go through the area frequently. Thats not so bad, except when they use their horn, which Ive heard at 11:15pm, and 5am. Thats not such a pleasant experience!Tip: When in the area, be sure to stop by the California Fruit Depot - its minutes away and they have an excellent selection of fruit!
Love that it is a gated RV park. Right off the highway, a very convenient place traveling from the west coast of expansive California. Clean and nice. It would benefit the Manager to be more diligent in addressing one of their customers who had unsightly garbage and items piled up outside their rig. The manager was very receptive when alerted. The next day we were merrily on our way and hopefully all will be taken care of.
I took my family on a road trip recently across the USA. When we arrived in California I found Shady Haven RV Park and Mini storage. I didnt have a reservation, however that wasnt a issue at all. They were more than happy to accommodate my family. I have to say this was one of the cleanest and most organized RV Park and Mini storage I have seen. They have security cameras on property to ensure everyones safety. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this place to anyone that is traveling or looking for a permanent place to live out of their RV. They have a nice pool area. I can go on and on. Do yourself a favor and definitely give this place a shot I promise you wont regret it.
Yikes has this place gone down hill. Stayed here all the time going North and South. No more. The area for overnighters now has at least half full or long term rigs (and large tents). We were put in the monthly area as they said the other was full. I walked over there later and counted the full timers. 10 out of 19. Our space was nice but we were not comfortable. At night someone was in the empty space next to us walking in circles . He then approached our truck. Husband watched and he finally walked away. Yeah there are a lot of trains but they were the least of our worries. The surrounding area has gone down hill as well. Its too bad but it was definitely our last time there. Upside? Staff very nice.
This RV park is downright scary. The long term residents are apparently allowed to do as they please by management. Unsavory tenants, dilapidated rigs, junk stored everywhere and unattended barking dogs all over the place. I dont see the park listed on Passport America anymore. The entry to the park is very misleading. Once inside you will not like it at all.NEVER AGAIN!
We called an made a reservation and said we’d be in late coming from Northern Ca. There was no mention of a check in time cut off. They called us at 7:15 asking where we were because they stop check ins at 6:00. Why wasn’t that mentioned when we made our reservation????? That left us stranded at 7:15 on a Sunday night with no where to go and no one open! Absolutely not impressed.Since I can’t reply to the rude response from the owners below I’ll just add here to original post. My husband was not informed of a 4:00pm closing time, and I heard the conversation and sat here and told him to say “late evening” when asked about our arrival time, and that’s exactly what he said. But, I am sure everyone can see from the owners passive aggressive and condescending response that this isn’t a place worth dealing with. No need to turn it into he said she said- just consider yourself warned! Good luck!
The park is decent except for the long term side that’s seems junky. The short term is all concrete asphalt and gravel. The lady who runs it is very nice and hospitable. Her husband is a little man with a Napoleon complex who will sit behind his two small children and ask you if you want to get confrontational. It was a simple question about if it would be ok to let my small washing machine drain to the ground. It’s bout 3 gallons of soapy water and I asked permission. If the answer is no then that’s ok it’s their place not mine and that’s why I asked first. But then he wants to tell me how he would hook it up directly, as if I haven’t thought of that. This is an add on washer and dryer and not plumbed straight in and it’s all custom fit with a garden hose adapter for the drain. When I was trying to tell him that I have exhausted the possibilities and it’s best to just let it run if thats ok. He puffed his chest out while sitting on a golf cart behind his two small children and asked me with a grin if it pissed me off that he said no, then wanted to know if it was going to get confrontational. My answer to that kind of challenge is that it could. Our conversation ended quickly.I prepaid for a week and after his chest pounding I only stayed two nights. I was never offered a refund for the remaining 5 days. But that’s ok if it makes him feel like a big man to keep it then he needs it more than me. I did my part and made sure they got their fancy gate card back that he went on and on about the day I checked in.I moved to another park down the road and continued my week long stay. The river rv park that I stayed in was a huge step up and the people were extremely nice and always helpful. And yes they also told me I could not dump my washing machine to the ground also, but it’s their place and that’s why I ask, to keep things from becoming a problem.
Im a twelve-year-old who has been RVing with my mom, dad, and sister we started in Washington with my dad taking a practice travel nursing job now were full time! we have checked into many a few campgrounds and BY FAR this is the best one. a pool(not heated, but it doesnt need to be when its 90° F), a spa (always perfectly hot), a swing set(you dont even see these at playgrounds), TWO dog parks, perfect sunsets, and dont mention the internet OMG its just amazing I can be watching my thirty minute youtube videos back to back to back to back without any interruptions, we can have a movie night with no interruptions, I can play video games for hours without any problems, and Im homeschooled so I can be on the internet ALL DAY without any problem its absolutely amazing! Theyre full hookup sites! There is still a dump station, Lots of kids! plenty of quiet, and soooooo much more! Check it out if you happen to be in Bakersfield it is an A+ campground!
The staff was very rude. We arrived after hours and called the number on the door. When the staff came outside, she was yelling and said she was calling the sheriff. I clarified I was trying to pay to rent a spot for the night and she in still a rude tone said they don’t accept arrivals after 6 and that the cops were on their way. It was completely unnecessary, unprofessional behavior.
Ive lived here for almost a year everything has gone well they offer free cable tv and wifi pool and spa i would recomend this park to anyone they also have a dog park its close to lots of different stores. i really dont see how you could go wrong.they have sewer hook-ups at every trailer site and a dump siteif you just need to empty your holding tanks
Spent time here 4 or 5 times this year and everytime I come it gets better and better. Olivia and Henry have cleaned this place up pretty good. Dont know what I would do without Mr. Henry. We had the Best Christmas here that weve had in a long time. Thank you Mr. Henry. Merry Christmas everyone.
This place is dangerous, do not stay at this place. Security gate and cameras is just a show. Thieves already have the card or people give them access to inside. Police says the cameras are useless. We had several hundred dollars of stuff taken from our motorhome while we slept

2022-05-20They are very welcoming and helpful. Their facility has a pool, jacuzzi, laundry, dog park just to name a few. Im currently staying under a shaded pull thru and its stays pretty cool up until the end of the day when the sun comes down. There are families that stay here with small children everyone keeps it safe and kids are able to ride and play on their bikes. But the facility stays pretty clean and organized. Would definitely recommend this place.

2021-12-10Stayed at Shaded Heaven RV park on a road trip from Washington to Arizona and it did not disappoint. This was by far one of the nicest parks that we stayed at on our trip. Not only was it convenient for our travel plans, but also the sites were very well maintained and clean, the pool was great for the kids, washers and dryers were a lifesaver, and the people were very friendly. After a few long days of traveling knowing this park was on our route with all the services/amenities we would need and, that it was very safe, was a huge relief. Will definitely be planning on staying at Shaded Heaven on our next trip.

2022-05-19Ive been staying here at Shaded Haven RV Park since Oct 2021 and have not had any issues, other than maybe noting it close to railroad tracks on the website. Not always a problem, just some conductors love using their horn more than others LOL. Clean park, gated community, and nice brand new solar cover over one of the rows. Ashley and the office staff have been great to work with. Would definitely stay here again when long term work is needed in the area.

2022-01-06In all honesty it looks good because it’s gated compared to other parks so you’d think it’s secured but unfortunately our neighbor had is Catalytic converter stolen & we all know who it might have been whom by the way is still living in the park yet Paul refused to do anything he was hard to get a hold of. Anytime we needed something we would leave a message & no reply. The new manager seems nice & looks like is making more of an effort to make sure things are running smoother but with all the theft and items going missing I’m not so sure we want to continue to live there much longer. And to top it off last night transients made their way in the park trying to steal or get high not sure anymore but something’s gotta change or people will definitely be exiting the park because nobody wants to wake up to their stuff missing.

2022-01-06My grandparents have lived here for a while, they recently had an issue where they needed the maintenance team and had me reach out. They were there to help within hours! I appreciate everyone on the staff!! Thank you for making sure my grandparents are living in comfort!

2021-07-08We are long term guests here, and love the park. We have lived in our RV for over four years now, and this is one of our favorite parks. We will definitely be sad to leave when the time comes. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff. All of them are super helpful and friendly, and the new management made some nice changes. They have cleaned up the kids park area and pool area, which we really appreciate. They also do a great job of keeping the park safe and clean, so it’s perfect for families. We have made many friends, and our son always has other kids to play with. The park also periodically has special activities for the kids, which we love attending. Overall, we love the park and would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Bakersfield, especially long term.

2021-12-09This RV park is one of the few nice parks in town. The new owners have really turned this place around. My wife enjoyed the 24 hour gym and the on-site laundry was a huge plus.
