Ever since they changed to the Seacliff in the restaurant is bad. They changed the menu with less options. They ripped out all the booths and the dining room is now incredibly noisy, so you cant have a decent conversations. Once a great local dining place, I would avoid having a meal there.
I had high hopes for this place, but was Sadly disappointed. The atmosphere was great but the food was not. The steak was horribly bland and pre cut up, not great. The calamari was 90 percent batter with no calamari, and the parts that did have calamari tasted like dried rubber bands. The carbonara had 95 percent peas in it and was equally bad. On top of all of that there was an automatic gratuity. We wont be going back .
Went here for Christmas brunch. Food was borderline inedible. They advertised prime rib on the menu but it was a significantly poorer cut of meat. Oddly enough the hazy on tap was flat / not carbonated enough. Paid 50 per person for a limited buffet of really bad food, most definitely not worth it. I’m sure this place was hit hard by Covid but if you’re cutting quality this much, prices should also be adjusted. The staff was all very nice though. Stay away from this place if you like food.
A nice place hidden in a Best Western just off CA-1. The decor is clean, the waitstaff friendly and efficient, and the prices reasonable. The dining area overlooks a patio (with an elaborate koi pond) where you can eat if you want. The menu features a lot of seafood but other dishes as well. We found the view of the patio restful and the food fresh and good.
We use to come here often because we loved the food, not any more!! Food was tasteless and definitely not worth the price. My husband did not eat his dinner cause he said it sucked. Should have Never got rid of old menu and chefs!!! On the plus side the waitress was Great, very friendly, good service.
This place had its menu and programs hit pretty hard by Covid. Was a good place to have a salad and/or burger and a drink with good music and dancing available. Menu got limited and expensive with Covid and entertainment is now much more rare. I hope it recovers its former groove when Covid is over.
Ate there for dinner on July 4th. Staff had a positive attitude; friendly and attentive. The dining area with booths was closed due to COVID, but we were still seated right away at a table in the bar dining room because it wasnt very busy and it was approx.1 hr before closing. The food was good and filling; a nice place with consistently good service.
Be here multiple times throughout the years. It can be hit or miss. Food has mostly been delicious, but Ive been disappointed a few times. Last time I got food to go 3/5/21. I was very disappointed. I got short ribs. Short ribs should fall apart with a fork. I had a tough time cutting them with a knife. I think they gave me the end rough cut piece. Restaurants do that sometimes on to go orders since you cant complain in person. If it wasnt for these few bad experiences I would give them a 4 star, but when you pay $50 for a plate of food. It should be on hit every time. You gotta be consistent. If I owned a restaurant and the chef sent out a piece of meat like it was. FIRED! Thats just me though. Thats the reason I only go there when Im getting fed up with other restaurants in the area. Servers have always been friendly and have given good service. They might want to find out who the cook was Friday night at 7:00pm 3/5/21. He just cost them a star.
Outdoor dining on the patio is beautiful! And safely distanced from each other. Definitely at least 6 feet from chair to chair. Service was wonderful, food was delicious, and their mud cake is to die for! Definitely recommend for a relaxing and nice dining experience.
Large dance floor; dependable dance music every Thursday, 6-9 pm/other times O.K. Nice, friendly people; food delicious & well-worth the price! Service at bar & restaurant is respectful, responsible, rapid. Plenty of seating. Overnight rooms pricey yet clean, comfortable. Outside eating nice view ( especially when beautiful fish have clean water). Several daily newspapers, many sightseeing brochures available.
I had the ceasar salad with prawns. That was delicious. Its surprisingly quiet eating on the patio being that it is right next to the freeway. They have a nice water feature that is relaxing. The bloody Marys were good as well. Id like to see a more in depth wine menu.
Omg, just go here! Severino’s has reopened and the food and drink menu are super fresh! Our server Jason was wonderful. We enjoyed a couple of “house expressions” cocktails, jalapeño shrimp and fish tacos. Sat outside and enjoyed the patio and waterfall/koi pond. Excellent experience!
If I would just rate the evening dinner I would give it 5 stars for staff and food quality. Super awesome. But I have to include the breakfast. Not the best experience. I asked to be seated in the dining room instead of having the buffet. They didnt tell the waitress they sat me in her area so I waited for quite awhile before I was even acknowledged and then it was totally by accident. The waitress was very nice but not really into being present at her job. While I waited I noticed the backs of the booth seating. Pretty dirty. Makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. Ill be eating elsewhere for breakfast when staying at the Sea Cliff Inn.
Over the top fantastic service by Kim every time I have been there. The clam chowder is the best Ive ever tasted! Even on the east coast. The menu has something for every taste and every budget. Add to that the excellent flavor and presentation of the food and you have reason enough to visit Severinos once or twice a month as I do. Live music tops off the list of reasons why my GF and I love this place.
Place went totally down hill. New owners and the ruined it!! No breakfast, cant get help if needed. Asked for towels and they never came!! Same with anything you ask for, they will not deliver!! Been coming here for 7 years and will NOT be coming back because of the new owners and how they run it!!!
BEST bread and butter in town. Everything else is good. Never had a bad meal there, never had a great one either. Nice people. Clean. Good service. Its a good place to go to get a good meal, good service and nothing special- other than, ta DA! The pond. The pond here is Awesome. Lots of giant koi. If you know fish you can possibly sneak them treats, but there are signs saying not to. The koi are beautiful, majestic sleekit creatures. Whenever we go there, on the way out we stop to say hello to the koi♡
Happy hour is the time to go there for good price and tasty food and drinks. I only to at happy hours though too pricey otherwise and not worth the hype at full price unless you order a fresh fish type of seafood special then itd amazing and worth it when its not happy hours.
This is a nice place to go for happy hour, they have a sweet outdoor patio area right next to a nice koi pond and beautifully landscaped garden with waterfall. They have 2 for 1 specials on Tuesdays, and Taco Bar Friday for happy hour. Usually have a jazz band or swing band weekend nights. The clam chowder is wonderful and they almost always take first place at the clam chowder cookoff. Some dishes are pretty pricey. But its Aptos, so most everything costs more
First time at Severinos; we will return. Dinner @ 7 on a Saturday night, on the patio w/heat lamps. Chrissie our server was attentive and friendly. Stuffed chicken was moist and tasty; grilled filet was prepared perfectly. A must-have is their award-winning clam chowder--some of the best I think Ive ever had. Setting is enhanced outside with a lovely extended koi pond and lighted water fall. Band started at 8 and was loud...but not for those seated on patio. A vibrant bar scene when music kicks in so a quieter meal is to be had before dance floor opens. Part of Sea Cliff hotel. Very good!
Would have been a great service all around but before we even sat down the hostess at the front counter was super rude & unfriendly. She needs to go back to basic training to learn how to be a people person and not have a pitty party when something unexpected happens. Other than that, food and server were fantastic!
Very good Aptos Salad with added Prawns. The vinaigrette was superb. The mixed greens, peppers, red onions, blue cheese & tomatoes were excellent. The prawns were cooked perfectly, but I wouldve preferred them de-shelled and tail-off. The wait staff appeared to be newbies, but were very friendly & helpful. Whats not to love about Severinos? An all around good place to eat!
Fabulous place for drinks and lunch on upper deck. Service was horrible - we waited for 15 minutes before I went back in to remind host we were outside even though many servers saw us. Although our waiter was fine when he showed up. All staff seemed new and/or now trained.
Service was good, drink was ok, tacos... it was pork...not carnitas,.... it has been my experience that Children are NOT allowed at the bar/lounge.... not sure I can call Saras money music jazz... and the patrons have no clue about jazz dancing....children at the bar.... really?...
Don McCaslin and the Incredible Jazz Geezers play every Thursday starting at 5:30 or 6:00. I love them! They have Ron, Judy, and Rocky sing, and sometimes others sit in too. Happy hour til 6, and its fun to watch the dancers. I always say hello to the koi there as well. Food is tasty also
First off, lets talk about these fish tacos. Spectator in everyway. Life is too short to take photos of food, you gotta try this place.Any place that goes great lengths to make the chips from scratch deserves an artisan award as a Mecca for true foodies, the love that makes the heat dance from fresh salsa after breathing in the sea air is refreshing meal that is perfect for everything.Today i had the pleasure of dining once again at Severinos and by no surprise is was absolutely phenomenal. I had the pork sliders. Tbh i have no idea how it was prepared but i can tell you this, there buns are as fresh as they come and even the slider buns were freshly baked. This is an extremely high calibur kitchen producing amazing meals that are truly no b.s. affordable and delicious. With great staff and a stress free parking, this is a no brainer for one of the best resturants on the coast.Cheers

2022-01-22Was pleasantly surprised, asked for the salmon cooked medium, came out perfect, and tots were crisped evenly and tasty. Service was excellent. Prices were reasonable, parking was adequate. Bit hard to see an entrance for the restaurant. Not crowded at all, very nice outside setting.

2022-05-205-19 Back again. Service not as exemplary as last time but the food and drinks were. Ordered the Fish Tacos and Mac N Cheese. Both excellent. Tried the sangria and really liked it,not sweet just refreshing. Love this happy hour!Great place for happy hour, 3-5 Monday -Friday. Hannah was our server and she was awesome! Friendly, hard working and actuality wants to help you out.Good local beers on tap, strong cocktails. The tater tots were good but the sliders were exceptional. These funny little hamburgers are the best hamburgers weve had in I dont know how long. Great beef flavor, not pre-made, sautéed onions, nice pickles and the perfect brioche bun. It feels strange going on about these burgers but they were perfect. The French fries were also great. Ask for your tots and fries to be extra crispy. You will be happy. Nice seating inside or out, very chill place and our new favorite.Bathroom situation is kind of strange, you have to use one of the hotel rooms. If you need a nap or a shower I guess thats an option too. I would not send my wife or daughter alone... Just seems sketchy.

2022-02-08The sitting outside during covid is really nice. The water noises of the small waterfall, the fish in the pond, and the great service and food here make it a wonderful eating experience.

2022-07-08We had such fun celebrating our friends birthday at Sevys. A beautiful garden patio, fun drinks and great food, and make sure that you leave room for dessert!

2022-01-085 stars for the consistently great service (Ive eaten here with large groups more than 10 times). The menu is mostly bar food, but quite a nice variety and very well done for the price. I was astonished that they were willing to take a group of 20 on New Years Day. We sat outside and they went over and above to get the patio heaters working. Drinks and food came quickly and our server was very good that day. Atmosphere is quite nice, too.

2022-03-04A nice place to dine. They were doing some remodeling when we were there. Food and service was good. Masks mandates were still in place and were hesitant to stay though when we saw the none of the wait staff or bar staff were wearing masks. We decided not to dally, just ate and left.

2022-06-30Very solid for a hotel restaurant. The service was great - quick and personal. The food was basic, not sure why breads (toast, English muffins, etc) are extra vs being part of the meal. They do get a thumbs up for good coffee.

2022-05-21Really good braised short ribs. Service was rough because they are so understaffed. Thats what happens when business owners are greedy and dont pay people decent wages. I feel bad for anybody working in food service in this area. Or in general because your job is going absolutely nowhere and sucks from start to finish unless youre on drugs or delusional...

2022-03-31They are currently going through a remodel so it may be possible that my experience was caused by this. Im a long time santa cruz local, this place was a immediate go to for a nice night out, knowing it will be a Lil extra money... but the food was worth it. Now... not so much. What once was my favorite clam chowder ... Is now not. Way overkill on the bacon. The menu has significantly decreased with choices that didnt sound great. I tried the steak... 36$ you would expect a decent size. It was VERY small. Cooked correctly... the flavor was bland although they give you a small cup of green stuff to use.... I was not a fan. Then some French fries to top it off. The waitress was nice. Did her best although you could tell by her pace she was given far to many tables.Overall, I will wait and see if after the remodel things go back to normal. But if it didnt... I wont be returning.
