Yummy…A good dinner. We passed by at about 7 on Wednesday night and I was attracted by its beautiful venue. We ordered jambalaya, fishermans stew, and ribeye. The seafood is fresh. I like the taste of the food. Besides, including the desserts, two people can eat very full, and the most recommended is the ribeye.Although the process of waiting for the meal was a bit long, the waiter was very enthusiastic and provided us with a heater, and often came to inquire during the meal.In short, I have to say that this is an unforgettable dinner.😃
Came with a large party and most of the orders came with issues that were not corrected: mushroom omelette with no mushrooms, eggs benedict with a healthy helping of egg shells, sides never arrived, undercooked eggs, and the first course of fruit and pastries had enough for less than half of our party (8 pastries for 20 people). Absolutely not worth $30/person, it was more in line with what youd expect from a free hotel breakfast. Would not recommend.
If you have food sensitivities, dont eat here! We made a birthday reservation and clearly specified 1.) food sensitivities to gluten and dairy and 2.) Birthday.Upon making the reservation we were assured that of course we could do this, and there were definitely plenty of gluten free and dairy free options. When we ordered, the waitress didnt know what GF DF meant. She assertively and somewhat condescendingly assured us that the fries should be fine, theyre just potatoes. The fish probably doesnt have butter I dont think. Sorry, no gluten free buns (wrong). So we had to ask her to please talk to the chef to be sure. After she took our orders, she returned and said Im sorry the fries ARE cooked with gluten. I asked if there was a GF substitute for fries, she said “no”.Next she returned and said Im sorry we DO have gluten free buns. Etc.The exuberant and energetic hovering busboy kept interrupting us abruptly to refill (or take away) our unfinished drinks. No birthday wishes, no birthday acknowledgment which is fine except that we had been assured upon making the reservation that we would receive good service all around. The view is stunning and location is lovely. Maybe that’s why the restaurant management is lacking and prices are so high?
We stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. Eventually we were able to get a bar menu as the brunch menu had only breakfast offerings. We each found one thing that sounded good so we stayed to enjoy the sunshine and fabulous setting. Service was slow but the bus boy was hustling and made things work. The food was disappointing. The fries with the burger and chips with the ceviche had the same bad fryer oil taste. My ceviche was made with shrimp and Krab, hardly qualifying as ceviche if it isn’t raw when it goes into the citrus juice. The lime wedges were dried out. Clearly they cater to a captive audience. Would I eat there if I was staying there ? Probably. They might do a better job with the full menu.
Stopped there for a late breakfast after walking from New Brighton beach. Sat outside with our dog and enjoyed the view. The prices were very reasonable and we all liked our meals. I had a Denvers omelet, side of very good country hash browns, and toast for $10. Great price considering the view (check out my photos).
Lets start positive. Outdoor view was amazing over looking the ocean. The food was ok. I asked about the tuna tartar as the picture looked great on the web. Sadly, one of the waiter said that i wouldnt recommend it. If you wont recommend it for any reason, why have it on the menu? I ordered the crab cakes instead. Whats dissapointing is that, next to the ocean, we were served crab cakes that had imitation crab meat. For $25 dollars?! Couldnt really complain much because although its fake meat, the other components on the dish complemented the dish well. For entree, i ordered steak and frites. Steak was not properly rested and all my fries sucked the juice/ blood of the meat. It was very unappetizing. Prime rib hardly had any seasoning.Overall, some of the items are overly priced for the quality but some are affordable. The creme brulee was the positive note.. picture of crab cakes and creme brulee attached. Those are the 2 im not shy to recommend...
Its ok. The service staff is very nice. The food leaves a lot to be desired. It seems as though the menu tries too hard to have that upscale dining feel. In the process, it leaves out flavor. My husband ordered the grilled wahoo. It was bland and flavorless. The accompanying sauce tasted of straight vinegar. I ordered the prime seared New York steak. Although it was cooked correctly, the cut of steak was far from prime in my opinion. I dont mind paying for higher quality food. This place just didnt hit the mark. I ordered in suite breakfast the next morning. My eggs and bacon were ice cold. I suggest you guys use insulated food carriers if youre going to be transporting food from the restaurant to the suites in cold weather. Besides the food being cold, the bacon was undercooked and soggy. My husband and I spent well over two hundred dollars on dining here, and it was not worth it. Only gave three stars because the service was decent.
After 50 years of eating red meat, we had the best steak ever at Sanderlings! I dont know how they did it, but they did. It was also the most expensive, but when you want to reward yourself, is worth every penny. The staff is great and the ambiance is pleasant. I thank them for a great evening.
If it wasnt for the view of the cliff and tall trees that signifies northern Californian coast, I wouldve given it a zero. Made reservations for a weekend lunch at 12pm. Arrived at 12pm on the dot. Was seated by 12:05pm, orders taken by 12:15pm.Drinks came out at 12:35pm and the starters and kids food were delivered at 12:55pm. Main course didnt bother showing up until 1:30pm at which point we stood up and left.Server was apologetic and it clearly wasnt her fault that the restaurant either was severely understaffed in the kitchen. But from a 4 star resort, not being able to prepare for a weekend crowd, especially when you take reservations is simply not acceptable. And the food... whatever managed to be delivered. Clam chowder was practically cold and was watery. Kids burger was nice but the patty was slightly overcooked. And the Kids pasta didnt have any taste.Massive disappointment.
Went there for lunch, did not have seating available on the patio (because I didnt have reservations) which wasnt a big deal. However, they forget about you sitting inside the restaurant!! Had to find a worker to refill our drinks a few times. The lunch menu was pretty limited and they were out of crab cakes, (this was noon time) so that was pretty surprising they were out of something. After 25 mins they finally brought bread to the table (the bread was warm & super yummy). It took around 40 mins to get our food which was 3 fish & chips, and 2 kids menu items. One of my kids waited even longer for their plate. I had to ask the hostess walking by to check on the status of his burger. Not impressed with the food. The fish & chips plate was just okay, Ive had way better at hole in the wall places. It reminded me of panko crusted frozen fish filets (which they probably were). My sons burger was overly seasoned with pepper and he didnt eat more than 2 bites. It was just disappointing overall. I have eaten dinner here a few years ago and it was great then; I dont know what happened this time around for lunch service.
Sanderlings had been out little getaway for some time now. The quality of food and service are always at a high standard. Dustin our server was attentive and friendly. Bryn the manager was very pleasant and personable. We will be back and will tell more of our friends of this little hide-a-way spot located in the Seascape Resort, which is also a wonderful getaway spot from the valley.
Good food, consistently prepared, served professionally. The best feature, hands down, is the outdoor patio. Dog friendly, and there is no better view IMO especially if you want to catch the sunset and have a cocktail and a snack or dinner.Great live music on Fridays and occasional hula dancers when the Hawaiian family band is playing. Take a walk on the beach before to work up an appetite
We had Christmas lunch. The buffet was nice, good food, nice variety of meats, salads, pasta/potatoes and desserts. I thought it was a bit tacky to charge $2.75 for iced tea ( and Lemonade ) when hot tea and coffee were included in the $75.00 per person charge. Good service. Very pretty views.
This is a lovely restaurant in a GREAT location. I have been here several times, and I will be back. That said, the food is just OK. I got the fish tacos last time and the fish and chips the time before; both times the fish was overcooked to the point of being tough and dry. Sides and garnish were good... I think next time Ill have a salad.
Christmas day buffet when you dont want to cook -- crab legs, shrimp cocktail, oysters Rockefeller, and nice selection of salads. Sides of over cooked veggies were not so great. Desserts very nice. Smaller selection than other holiday buffets in the area but really pretty view. You can see why the tourists want to stay on the property and we are lucky to be locals.

2022-05-08The view is breathtaking. Beautiful area by the beach, just a bit windy even if its sunny.Service was great. Very helpful and polite staff, had answers to any question I had.Reason for only 3 stars is from the lack of seasoning and flavor in the food. My family and I came to a Mothers day buffet and were all disappointed. Most of the food was cold and bland. The only food that was warm was the soup and steak.Im sure the foods temperature would improve on regular occasions but for buffet style, it did not work.

2022-02-27Came to try their Santa Cruz Burger Week menu and it was amazing! The special prices were really great but can understand their regular prices can get a little high. Everything from the brioche bun burgers to the fresh bread rolls tasted delicious. The service was great and we were offered assistance before it was needed. All around great place and would highly recommend for an upscale dinner setting.

2022-05-30An exceptional experience at an exceptional location. The outdoor dining tables provided a magnificent view of the Monterey Bay. The menu is a bit limited, but what they had was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the ceviche, salmon, and cioppino. The view and the food were enhanced by the fine cocktails. Desserts were delicious.

2022-04-16Stopped for an end of day glass of wine and snack on a beautiful day. The prom kids were taking pictures, there was not a whip of breeze in the air, the sun was shining, couldnt ask for a better afternoon. We had the calamari and ahi poke, both were yummy and a tad over priced as was the wine, $33 for a bottle of Daou Sauvignon Blanc which we later saw in Safeway the same day for $16, guess you are paying for the view.I can say it was some of the best service we had since covid, the busier offered an extra chair just so our purses werent on the floor.

2021-10-13Beautiful outdoor sitting area. Ok food, good service. After your meal you can walk to the beach through a beautiful green path. It is quite a walk (with kids) tho. But very worth it.

2022-02-26Poor service overall- our server got half our order completely wrong and no apology or adjustment to the bill for the extra items. They also felt overly attentive, checking on us every few minutes, asking to take each dish as we finished. I almost asked for ten minutes alone so I could eat with my friends but we just let ourselves get rushed out the door and had a nice walk instead.Highlights: great view, good lobster bisqueProblems: poor service, food only average quality, not worth the price

2021-08-12A quiet and serene resort, tucked away along the central California coast near shopping and golf. Dine indoors or out on a patio with expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. Easy accessible walking trails for couples or even families with strollers.
