Being that Im originally from LA county, Im used to auto shops taking forever to even accomplish a simple smog check. Needless to say I was truly surprised when I brought my car here for a smog. The whole process from the time I arrived to the time I payed (considerably less than I wouldve in LA County) took less than 15 minutes. Would I bring my car back here? Heck yes, I would.

We are so lucky to have an honest auto repair place in our little community. I trust Sam, he as done me right each and very time I have used him. He has even saved me money on a second opinion. Saved me from falling for BS by another company and paying 600.00 for something I didn’t need.

This is a wonderful business, wonderful people, and I will be loyal to them for as long as they are open. We had an EXPENSIVE, and very unexpected issue come up with our van. Not only were they the best price, (I called everyone within an hour of us), but they were quick, they were understanding and worked with us on getting everything paid and taken care of. 100/10 will use again and have already referred friends and family. I have children so to say I trust a local business is a big deal for me, but I trusted them with my babies only means of transportation and they took care of us.

Initially, when I have come to this place for auto assistance, they have given me a good impression. However, during my last oil change, this place tried to scam me into getting extra work done including brakes over $1300 in cost...luckily I took my car to a mechanic for a 2nd opinion in Victorville and he did the brakes and other minor things for $400. This place will try to cheat you if they feel you have money...beware...

Don’t go here , I had my oil cooler replaced and they didn’t fill coolant or oil after and my 40k truck overheated he even admitted he didn’t test drive it. I saw the problem coming but they are the only shop close to silver lakes Sam the owner is having major growing pains I’m sure he is the only Mecanic there he has his young son helping and a helper who is lost he can’t run a business and be a mechanic, it’s just not safe to bring your car there and if you do all I can say is look around you will see this problem.

This location is a hidden gem within the Silverlakes/ Helendale area. Within a recent first time visit, my check engine light came on and I did not feel comfortable driving it to a repair shop. I had always seen Route 66 Auto Repair, but was unsure of the turnaround for repairs (since we live in a remote area). I must saw that the representatives at the location were wonderful and had my car up and running within the same day! Their customer service was so stellar that they actually came to my home to check my car to run a diagnostics before taking it to the shop. I have never experienced this type of support and I wanted to truly express my appreciation - thank you for the wonderful job!

I have a 2013 doge avenger that has been giving me intermittent startup issues. I use this car purely to get back and forth from Helendale to Fort Irwin. Sam definitely could have taken advantage of me but he did not. Him and his team has a wealth of knowledge and corrected the issue with my car in a timely manner. I will definitely use his services again. Thank you Sam and Route 66 auto repair!

I called to make a smog check appointment for my moms car a 91 Toyota last week. They told me to have my mom bring it in this past Tuesday as their machine was ready and calibrated. She went and was turned away. They told her that he cant smog check it since its registered down the hill. I couldnt believe it so I called him and the owner tried to feed me some mumbo jumbo reason that I cant even explain but main reason was due to where the car is registered and age of car. We took this car to that establishment three years ago and no issue. I do not recommend or will I go there due to his poor professionalism. Im here in Victorville and they are doing the job. So Route 66 Auto Center lied to me and my family.

Dec 2018, driving home from Mammoth... a bit tired after 3 days skiing... radiator hose let go near 395/shadow mtn road. USSA, my ins carrier, got the tow truck out there within 30 minutes and arranged for RT 66 garage to handle repair... This whole experience could have been a nightmare... instead it became such a super positive experience I call USSA back to thank them for hooking me up with such good people. The driver was a hoot, friendly and proud of his community, Helendale, which Id never heard of and Ive been driving 395 for nearly 60 years!The mechanic was ready to start work as soon as we got there. Not only replacing the hose but properly flushing the system …. friendly, professional and he had a cool shop dog to boot. 30-40 minutes later, after paying the inexpensive bill, I was on my way... my faith in humanity rejuvenated... Thank you Rt. 66 Garage... Youre the best.
