Kind of a Disappointment... drove down to Truckee to escape the prices at Squaw. Turns out that Truckee is really expensive. Came here because it seemed a little more reasonable. Beer Prices were reasonable and had a few good ones on Tap. Food is mostly smoked meats. We got a sampler to share with pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. Sides of fries, salad. mac and cheese, and coleslaw. Not sure what day they smoke the meat, but the brisket was dry and tough. The ribs were slightly cold and dry. They were also very smokey. The pulled pork was the best. The side BBQ Sauce was tasty but had a lip burning heat to it. The fries were hard, dry, and a bit of a let down, and the coleslaw was ok. It had pepper in it, which was different. Overall, would have rather spent a few bucks more and tried another place. This place might be better if you hit the meat fresh, or if you do their taco Tuesday.
This was one of the worst experiences in my life. We paid for 2 nights on Christmas eve and Christmas day. Our room had NO HEAT - and the avg temperature outside was below zero. The manager said to use a space heater which when I plugged it in - the fuse blew - so we also had no electricity. the managers were no where to be found. the room was also the closest room to the street where it sounded like snow plows were literally going to come through the room. I didnt sleep one hour. You could see your breath it was that cold in the room. When I inquired about a different room I learned none were available. I came away with a horrible cold - and went to another hotel - SHE DID NOT OFFER ANY COMPENSATION FOR THE ROOM NOR THE DISCOMFORT. this Inn should upgrade for winter service. if you do book a room bring plenty of blankets and ear plugs. Terrible experience
River Street Inn is such a fun and historical place to stay. You can explore downtown Truckee from here on foot and youll have a great time. A wonderful change from the dreary, impersonal chain motels and hotels. This building has lots of history and gives you a feel of what Truckee was like in a bygone era. Matt and Wendy are friendly and easy going.

2021-08-03This place was really cute. We booked last minute and was able to get a queen room. You can only book through the phone, rates range and number available through their website. The room we got was really cute and freshly remodeled, the furniture and decor was absolutely adorable. Very comfortable and the claw bathtub was also nice. Good water pressure and hot water. Bed was comfortable and I liked the sheets. The inn got a historic oldish charm that also came with some challenges. Know that youre across the rail, so while it is nice during the day, the rail runs quite often even at night. It woke me up several times a night even being a heavy sleeper. No AC but lots of fans provided, though it was still pretty stuffy and hot at night because I closed the window to mitigate the noise a little. The window was also really hard to open or close, but thats understandable because its such a historical and beautiful place. I liked the slanted diagonal ceilings but be sure to not bump your head.Free coffee and muffin downstairs in the morning. Theres a small kitchen and lounge area and its connected to the restaurant and bar.

2016-08-16We like this place. The bartenders and wait staff are the bomb! I especially like Lindsey, she a I have great conversations. The drinks are great and the food good too. I had chicken wings and they were yummy. Hubby had chili and seemed to enjoy it.

2017-01-11Kind of confusing but 1882 Bar and Grill is on the River side of the River Street Inn. The food here is all smoke and grilled. The best food ever. The bar is great and this is the number one place in town to eat and drink as well as a great view of the river. I suggest the sample plate but my favorite is the hot wings.

2017-10-18I travel to Truckee on business a few times per year and came across the inn via recommendation. Matt and Wendy are very caring owners who take excellent care of their guests. The food (I highly recommend the ribs) and service in the restaurant were excellent as well. I will always take the time to stop in when Im in town

2016-01-06My husband took me here for my birthday. Wow what a pleasant surprise! We normally stay at the truckee hotel which is cold and unfriendly . From the time we arrived until we left it couldnt have been better . Our room was so cozy and warm . The owners took great care of us ! Love this place !!

2008-06-25Me and a friend spent a night at this bed & breakfast while on a mountain biking trip. The couple that owns the place were friendly and courteous. The room was nice and clean, and the food in the morning (continental breakfast) was decent. We payed $115, which seems like a decent price compared to other stuff in the area.
