I dont usually leave reviews, but we had roaches crawling over the beds overnight. Theres no overnight staff and calls to the desk went unanswered. Finally reached someone next day and received a rude response, accusing us of making it up. On top of this, the bathroom window doesnt latch, and you can even see daylight through the doorframe, and we found trash in the room. Dont spend your money here, there are several better options nearby.
It’s definitely a two star Motel. There are plenty of issues with the motel, but if you’re just there to stay a night or two because it’s close to the park, then this is probably the place for you. But be aware that it’s simply a place to rest your head. The ac was very loud and falling apart. The shower sprayed a solid beam of water and I wasn’t able to adjust it. The shower is hardly big enough for you to turn around in. It would be nice hotel if they just made a few accommodations like making the shower larger, changing the shower heads, cleaning the carpets, replacing the outdated air conditioners and installing a cabinet to put your clothes on while you take a shower. The pictures on the website look like they are from the cabins, which seem to be a lot nicer than the actual motel rooms.
I called to book a room with Wuksachi Lodge, but they said it was full. They offered me a room with The River Inn. I questioned them several times about the pet policy and they said it was pet friendly. When we arrived the first thing I saw was a ‘ no pets allowed’ sign. I questioned them and they refused to refund my money. We drove to the next town and found a nice Pet Friendly hotel ( Holiday Inn Express). I had to call my credit card company to refuse the char for the River Inn. Do Not Stay Here - it’s a scam!!
The integrity of the management and the quality of utilities were just awful. We arrived on Friday night and the water from the shower was barely running, so we had to skip the shower after half a day of driving. We informed the staff on Saturday morning about the problem and in front of our eyes she called the manager and confirmed this problem is going to be solved the same day. When we came back after hiking, walking in the snow, and getting cold, the situation didn’t change - no water. We raised the issue with booking.com, they got connected with the manager who told them the problem had been fixed. For the first time in my life I am seeing such an outright lie from a hotel management. If they lie about their services, who knows what else they are capable of?
Positive: Nothing Negative: Worst room I have ever stayed in. Completely filthy and disgusting. Shower clogged with other peoples hair. Stained and dirty carpet. Dust everywhere. TV remote didn¿t work. AC very loud and filter dirty. They kept my $200 deposit for 3 weeks and RUDE!
The man (owner?) who checked us in was very accommodating, professional, and courteous. We were a bit weary about the cleanliness after reading other reviews. The cleaning woman did not seem to care weather it was clean or not. I can say it was mostly tidy, but wouldnt go so far as to say clean. The shower head was broken. Other than that and the overpowering smell of chemicals (we had to air it out quite a bit) it was a very quiet place to stay. The location is great for getting into the park and proximity to restaurants.
I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the comfort of the beds, and the proximity to Sequoia National Forest. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here. The only issue that I really had was that their website is from a previous owner and is outdated. There is no continental breakfast, no pool, no anything. And the staff seem to be well aware of this issue. So, to me, this seems like false advertising. But other than that, I really didnt have an issue with the River Inn.
My girlfriend and I had booked a Friday and Saturday night stay at the River Inn. After driving 6 hours from San Diego, we arrive at about 11:30 pm to find our room door wide open, the bed not made with sheets piled on a chair, and bugs in the room. We drove back to the hotel that we picked up the keys at and luckily they had a room for us.We arrived to River Inn the next day around 11am in hopes our room would be ready, where instead of an apology the representative from the hotel insisted that she cleaned the room. The door was still open and room not clean. She gave us a cold apology after realizing.I called the River Inn today to ask for a refund because we have been charged for Friday night still even though we did not stay in their room. Their reply was well you stayed at that other hotel for free, we paid them for your stay. I do not believe that their agreement with the other hotel should impact us, as a free room for the night was the least that could have been done. The original room for us was not ready, customer service was cold and awful. The location for the room was good because it was near some places to eat in town and near the entrance of Sequoia, but I would highly recommend staying anywhere else in the area. There are tons of other hotels that would treat their customers better.
Filled with bugs. Roaches ran across our beds while we were sleeping and the bathroom sink was filled with ants.Dirty dirty hotel that just plain doesn’t care. The office doesn’t open until 3pm so you can’t even report problems. The number they give just goes to voicemail.Avoid this “hotel” at all costs.
I’ll start with the positives, the receptionist was very nice and accommodating , the price for two night was very reasonable, it was a 1/3 of what we would have paid for elsewhere. Now for the negatives- the hotel smelled like old Indian food, there was a thin layer or dust everywhere, the sink had old toothpaste and there was a dead fly on the windowsill. The toilet had old pee, and the shower knob was broken and sprayed water in every direction in uneven amounts and the shower door didn’t not close completely shut. The fridge has some old gelatinous substance in the door. There’s a nice little seating area outside but it takes up a lot of space in the parking lot but makes it very difficult to get in and out.If your planning on staying here based on the price, bring some heavy duty cleaning supplies.
Great location, super close to the entrance of the park. If you don’t mind roughing it, then it’s worth the price. We stayed in room 11, separate from the block of rooms. I don’t believe it was ever cleaned between our stay and the previous guests, as we found; beer bottle cap on the ground, disposal toiletries in the bathroom were half used, almost completely used toilet paper roll, urine drops on the toilet seat, cobwebs, and floor has clearly not been swept or mopped as there was much debris and dead bugs. The couch was broken and sunken in, and the cable cord was severed and un able to be attached to watch cable. I will say the bed was comfortable, and the sheets looked clean... at least I hope so.
We arrived at 9pm on April 7th. When I checked the bed, the sheets have not been changed because of dirt and hair on that.I went to the office and tried to find a new one but it was closed. I could not able to sleep well at night. It was disgusting. Hopefully they will improve their service.
A bit of a misunderstanding regarding the amenities provided when paying for extra guests in our two-queen room, but it was resolved to our satisfaction. A few ants, hard to avoid in that climate. The location is really great, though I think the majority of the reviews giving high praise are mostly from the cabins across the road, which looked quite nice. Clean, comfortable, and quiet.
I made a reservation 4 days prior. I called the day of the stay to confirm everything. He said yeah come on up. When we got there at exactly 3:00 check-in time they were sold out and didnt have our room. Very unprofessional very poorly ran. I would not stay here if you are traveling from any distance.
I enjoyed my stay at the River Inn. It offers amazing views of the mountains, office staff is super friendly, rooms are clean and well-equipped. There’s a quaint, small town vibe that I really love. I’d be happy to stay here again if we ever find ourselves back in Three Rivers.
I really do not enjoy writing negative reviews. However, the River Inn has earned it unfortunately.First thing when we walked in there was an Extremely strong smell of bleach in the entire room but especially the bathroom. So much so it not only burned my nostrils but it was so bad my kids didnt want to go in there because it hurt their eyes and nose. Then the next morning we go to make some coffee and the coffee pot doesnt work. No big deal well just grab some at the free Deluxe continental breakfast. Well that doesnt exist either.Per their website there is a free Deluxe continental breakfast but come to find out that is at a sister hotel 5 miles away. So we figured well maybe we can get a new pot for coffee at least and let the kids play on the playground. Well there is no staff on site until as they put it around 9am. Also, the play ground they said they have doesnt exist on site either. I guess its at this other hotel. Also there is no refrigerator in the room like they said so we were unable to put up the stuff we bought that needed to be refrigerated. This place is completely misrepresented on their website and was a complete let down. I can not recommend this place in any fashion.
Nothing special, an average motel. Good price for this kind of location. Clean and comfortable room, however furniture and other devices are quite old. The air conditioning machine was so loud (not even being set up on maximum power) it was impossible to sleep. We had to sleep in a heat, which wasn’t the nicest thing to do. I don’t see the point in having a tv when there is no cable tv signal. Basically, there was no tv.
Price was best around easily. The room was clean but check in was tough. It is a small operation and I arrived early with no one maning the office. There was a sign saying call them but there was no cell phone service in the area. 8 came back at check in time and the office was manned. The hotel is very close to sequoia national park and is easily spotted from the road. Meals can be purchased next door.
Clean. Great for an overnight stay. The location, right outside the park was perfect. The hotel is dated, and there is no overnight assistance. Its a roughing it kind of stay. But the staff was kind enough to allow us to inspect the room prior to our stay, so there were no surprises. No cell service, but wifi worked fine.
Great place to stay when going to Sequoia national Forest, nicely furnished rooms, cold air conditioning, cable TV and abundant hot water to relax after hiking all day. Great Totem pole market next door to get all kinds of food as well as any convienence store items. Also nice gift shop, but open seven days to facilitate your stay at RIVER INN,in beautiful Three Rivers California, just be sure and make reservations as was booked solid the entire week we spent here, Also has cabins available if you prefer that over hotel rooms.
This hotel is outdated and filthy. It has bugs in the bed under the covers. The management will not help you, exchange your room or provide you a refund. No one mans the office, their doorbell doesnt even work. When you finally find them and complain about the bugs under the sheets, they say its normal for the area and that they flew in through the open doors. They expect you to sleep in these conditions and the hotel charges you like a 5 star resort.
Pro: located near the parkCon: price was not proportional to the quality of the stay. For ~200, you get a dark room with two beds, an old cathode ray tube TV pulled straight from the 90s, no fridge no food, charged extra for ac, a shower that cant stay adjusted, barely enough internet to load pictures (unless it is on Facebook). You should avoid this one, if possible.
Hated it. No room service. You have to chase someone that works here down just for towels. Never saw anyone cleaning the rooms so not sure when the sheets were last changed. Asked someone that worked here if they could clean our room and never got done. Wish there was something nice to say about it.
BED BUGS! Though the room looks tidy, it has bed bugs and the towels are worn out. The electronics including TV and AC is outdated and so old. Manager did NOT refund the money though it has been less than week. Bites all over body and it takes weeks to disappear. BEWARE!
Dated, could use a housekeeping. You need PhD in tap control to operate the shower. Wifi is just terrible - keep in mind that there is no cell service in the area - so you are basically out of the grid. AC is very loud, but not very effective. Very close to the park though
Booked a room at the River Inn for one night. Got a message that if we checkin after 9pm we had to get the key in the Western Lodge: about 10minutes driving, fair enough. Anyway. We arrived there at 8:40 pm after driving all the way from San Francisco. And driving down the winding road in the dark. There was noone there! So we had to drive back and arrived at the other place. They told us we were rebooked at their place because there wasn’t anybody else at the River Inn.The reason for the 2 stars is because they didn’t let us know about any of this, which could have saved us 30 minutes.
Really nicely designed for a normal motel. The location is really perfect for the price, because you cant get any closer to Sqouia National Park for the price. The rooms are clean and dont look shabby. Ultimately, it is equipped like a normal motel, i.e. microwave, coffee maker, etc.In the evening you can sit comfortably on the terrace in front of the door. There are only complaints about the slow WiFi and the showers, which are only suitable for people under 175cm;)
A bit expensive for the quality of the room. Old shower room with door that does not close, the faucet is difficult to adjust to turn on or off the water. Carpeted room a bit old. Little room for 4 people. The unfriendly welcome. And the air conditioning in the next room is noisy.
The hotel is located near the park but there the positive stops again. The employee looks more like he would like to see no one of his guests again, the service is therefore more likely to be rated as unfriendly. The equipment is old-fashioned and looks as if it were still from the 90s. Our room was also not clean and a towel was even frayed. Although there is a table with seating (inside and outside), an ice machine, and a working air conditioning but the hotel is not worth 200 €. I would therefore recommend something else to look for.
The exterior appearance surprised us pleasantly. Everything was very neat and clean. The room (which we got on the top floor) was large and had all the services we expected (tv, fridge, coffee and tea ..). To put a but I will say that it was very hot in the room, even with the cold outside, and we had to leave the air conditioning all night to keep the room at a comfortable temperature to sleep. Even so, the experience has been completely recommended.
Optimal point for those who must visit the Sequoia. Too bad for the cleanliness and the lack of friendliness of the owner (I went to ask for the WiFi password and he invited me to take a photo to mark my credentials).I recommend going, for breakfast, to a small kiosk located before arriving at the motel-restaurant / gas station area: excellent homemade cappuccino and muffins (the sign says Cappuccino, its small so grab your eyes!).
At least clean, but it was also ... impudence to take advantage of the location to the park for an outrageous price. $ 360 for 2 nights. Furniture from the 70s or 80s, everything was worn. The pool is nowhere and somehow it seems as if the staff did not care, because it was booked anyway. But at least it was clean, which is worth something. Something comforting is the view from the balcony, which is really nice. Breakfast is available in the Totem Market next door and a lot of beer, which you also need after seeing the room. The pizzas are also delicious and recommended.

2022-04-03I give this place a 2 star review only because of its convenient location to the park and places to eat. I booked this room full well knowing it was outdated. It was nothing fancy and I was fine with that. I would have given this room a 5 star review had it not been flat out disgusting. The shower had a bunch of the previous guest’s hair piled in the corner, and even had their used bar of soap still there. I am not even sure if this shower was cleaned. This is such a basic and easy task for any hotel to do before each guest checks in… Also, our comforter had blood or wine stains all over it.I would only recommend staying here if you are on a budget, other hotels are booked, and if you only care about being near the park! entrance.

2022-03-01Very quiet room and a cute table with chairs outside. I recommend checking the room before unpacking your suitcase, ours had cracker crumbs and black hairs in the bed, a dripping faucet and a malfunctioning lamp. Management graciously switched is to another room which was reasonably clean, hot water, pretty comfortable beds. No pool, hot tub or breakfast, although listed on website.

2022-06-27I hate to talk bad about anyones business but mannnnn this is the only hotel where I felt dirtier after taking a shower. If you’re looking for a place to crash for one night then this is perfect. Anything longer than just sleeping here feels a little disgusting, the more you stay in the room the more things you start to notice. Bed had pink/red stains on the sheets, one of the towels had a BROWN stain on it, thick layer of dust everywhere, dead flies on the window, huge spiderwebs in the corners of the room. When arriving we asked if room service will be coming in because we don’t like people going through our stuff, we were told “nobody will come in your room during your stay” after our first day out at the park we come back to see clearly our things have been moved around in the room. The main positive I can give this place is it’s very close to the park entrance and there is a mini fridge and microwave in each room. Overall the experience here just wasn’t great seeing as we were all literally counting down hours until we got to go home and sleep in our own beds. Place would be easy 4/5 if people just cleaned up a bit.

2022-03-25Um. It was expensive and the first room had an aircon unit that was so noisy you couldnt hear the mosquitoes coming in through the window that didnt shut. Fortunately there were plenty of spare rooms so we moved. The aircon was better and the window closed but the bathroom - actually the whole room - was desperately in need of a refurb.Reception not really interested.it was convenient but thats all. If you can find somewhere else then I would suggest you do.

2022-06-23Simply put, do never book a night here. I had booked two nights on a holiday weekend and they called me at 8pm (!) on the Friday, while I was an hour away, to tell me there was no room for us (we were a group of 8). No explanations, no compensation offered. We spent the first night in another motel run by the same owners (Western holiday lodge), where tap water was brownish and cold. They had no option for us on the second night and we ended up sleeping in Tulare, more than an hour away. I have never seen such practices. The worst is probably how little they seemed to care.

2022-02-22They canceled our reservation 1h before the arrival time (reservation done more than a week before) and were not able to provide us an alternative solution. The hot tub and the outdoor swimming pool they claim having on their website is not completely true, you have to drive 15 min to another motel for it.

2021-06-20The room was cute and clean. It is much better then the Sierra Lodge down the street. (do not stay at Sierra Lodge, smelled bad, we checked in and out).River Inn was dated but for the price was fine. The younger woman at the counter was very nice and helpful. Stayed in April.
