I grew up on Holiday drive, we crawled all over every inch of those hills for many years, we caught orange newts and racer snakes, saw king snakes and even found a big fat dark scorpion once but, never saw a rattle snake so, I dispute that comment on one of these posts. There are lots of Rattle snakes on the foothills of Mt. Diablo but we never saw any in these hills.

2022-02-24Small quiet limited parking, but works well for getting on the trail. No restrooms or water. It is in a residential area and so far you are able to park on the road right outside of the staging area without incident.

2020-06-30We like this trail it leads you to a very cool trail called Shred Wizard it runs along the creek and can be strenuous. We hike it about twice a week for a great workout.

2019-11-09Absolutely gorgeous paradise feeling when we first visited in the spring time. It was very green, a creek, and beautiful wild flowers

2019-01-19This is a great local trailhead, particularly beautiful in the fall when the leaves change. Come back in winter when the creek is flowing. There are plenty of mushrooms and swapmy creatures like salamanders that one can find if theyre keeping their eyes peeled. A lot of kids come here to drink and smoke pot, often evident by leftover booze or candy wrappers, but for the most part its serene and mostly clean. There are mutiple different paths you can take, ranging from very minor elevation to some pretty steep areas. If you stick to the main trail its a pretty easy romp through the woods. The higher you climb in elevation, the better the view, obviously. A hidden gem.

2016-10-23A challenging climb up to the top of the hill with some great views but not a particularly convenient loop to walk from this staging area.

2020-01-02Very beautiful place with lots of trees and creeks. Its also very green and a great place to take your dog. However, Id be wary of the hills (as they can get a bit steep) and the mud.

2016-11-21Small parking lot. There are three trails you could take once past the gate. The middle follows a creek into the hills. You will see rattle snakes in the summer and fall, newts in the spring. The side trails can be strenuous but you will be rewarded with great vista of the valley below and Mount Diablo.

2021-05-22We stayed close to the stream bed trail with our dogs and they had a fantastic time there. Lots of poison oak everywhere though so be on guard!

2020-07-03Beautiful streamside entrance to the Las Trampas regional wilderness. But beware of poison oak, especially near the beginning! The parking lot tends to fill up on weekends.
