We had dinner last Friday to celebrate my wife’s and daughters birthdays with family. We were all treated to complementary glasses of sparkling wine upon arrival. It was a full house that night. The starters and salads were brought out quickly. All were unique and very tasty. For our entrées, my wife had the black cod with pesto pasta, others in our group had risotto with scallops, I had the chicken or the egg. Everything was excellent, unique, and tasty. Service was professional, attentive, and pleasant. Malik Williams is a talented young chef and uses only very fresh ingredients. We enjoyed our evening and look forward to going back.
I’m not making this up, and it’s never happened before. We eat out a lot, and we’re generally content with everything from Alderwood to a cheap taco joint. After hearing nothing but great things, we secured a reservation for 6:15 Friday night.Arrived at 6:21 and the place was packed. Hostess acknowledges our reservation but tells us they’re “completely booked” and it would be 30 minutes minimum. But wait, we made a reservation. Isn’t that the point? She didn’t seem to care, there was no place for us to be seated.Although they don’t have a bar/lounge, she says we’re welcome to look around, and we saw two small tables that were open (one was outside.)We found it odd that we couldn’t sit there, but politely walked back to the front desk…only to see two additional couples that had walked in the door being offered complimentary champagne. That was enough for us, good night!
We had a wonderful birthday celebration at Malik Williams new restaurant. The food was amazing and the servers were excellent. The ambiance was lovely and we enjoyed watching the chef work his magic.I had the poached black cod, with the house made angel hair pasta in pesto sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection, very fresh and the pasta and pesto so delicious. I enjoyed my dinner with a glass of Alfaro Family chardonnay exclusively available at Maliks. To finish we had an assortment of desserts for the birthday girls, all delicious, my favorite was the pink peppercorn macaroons. Try it!
OMG. We have eaten at 5 star restaurants all over California and I have yet to savor this level of food. Every dish we ordered was prepared to perfection. I had NO idea that lamb could taste that amazing. The filet was exquisite. The wine pairings were superb! Was it expensive? Not when you understand that you get what you pay for. And this experience was worth every dollar and then some. The front of house staff were so attentive. It was definitely busy and I could tell that they were trained to serve. Our busser (Percy) so helpful, pleasant, and truly took the time make us feel at home, he even insisted we meet the chef. Moments later, Chef Malik came out to meet us. What an amazing experience and Uber cool concept!! Where else can you actually see and meet the chef preparing your meal. This establishment is everything but new, its groundbreaking. Well be back again and again.
What an amazing experience we had here! We visited on their second night open. Complimentary champagne, the bruschetta appetizer, the lamb, we tried all three of their desserts and had a bottle of Windy Oaks. The food was excellent! One order of bruschetta (two large pieces) would have been perfect for the four of us. You might ask the kitchen to cut the bread in half to make sharing at the table easier. The bread, which was delicious, could also have been a bit thinner for ease of eating. The flavors burst in your mouth - it was like being back in Italy. Three of us had the lamb and each of us had it cooked differently. I ordered mine well done and although the chef questioned my choice, warning that it might be tough, for me, it was cooked to perfection, was flavorful and very tender. The crispy polenta and white asparagus sides were delicious. Three desserts were offered, and we ordered all three. Pink peppercorn macaroons, tiramisu filled eclairs and a cream puff artistically shaped like a swan. The macaroons were my personal favorite, the eclairs I could pass on because couldnt actually taste tiramisu. The swan was a work of art and the flavors delightful.I loved the piano music provided by Casper and the decor is contemporary without being sterile or cold. Our server, Nico, was attentive, well informed and just a genuinely nice person. We spent three hours in the restaurant, were never rushed by staff. Overall an excellent experience, well worth the money!

2022-05-23Run, do not walk, do not stop to smell the roses because you might miss out on the last short rib ravioli or decadent dessert and this fine new establishment. Where do I even begin…Chef Malik has redefined what bruschetta means to me, sent our taste buds on a wild ride and our waiter paired every course with wine just perfectly.I am thrilled to add RMW to the top of our restaurant favorites here in Santa Cruz. There was not a grain of salt out of place. Chef Malik appeared to turn around the dishes effortlessly. Our experience was a welcomed breath of fresh air! The rest of the fine dining establishments in SC better watch out!! RMW you all KILLED it, we will be back and we will bring all of our friends.

2022-03-17Ambiance was great, we thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor seating. Service was excellent. Truffle scallop risotto was a highlight, as were the pink peppercorn macaroons. Bruschetta, seafood sausage (both appetizers) were delicious, market price fish (cod) was cooked to perfection. Lamb was good, but not at the level of amazing as the other food.Really enjoyed my experience, great quality food, cant wait to return!!

2022-03-26Came here for my birthday and had the most amazing dinner I could ask for! When you walk in the door you are greeted by a class of champagne, which we drank by the outdoor fireplace while waiting for a table! I am vegan and had a delicious vegan risotto and salad (it is so nice to have vegan options at a fancy restaurant)! The desserts were absolutely incredible as well! Malik is such a talented chef, and the staff and ambiance were perfect! This is a true fine dining experience, you must go here!!

2022-07-25My husband and I had dinner with a friend at this amazing restaurant. The attention to detail, both in the food presentation and feel of the restaurant, was impressive. We were greeted by the host and immediately offered a complimentary glass of champagne. The waitress was friendly and had wonderful insight into dish preparation and recommendations when we asked. The environment was high quality and relaxing. The meal was well paced. We felt relaxed and well taken care of. A talented pianist created a beautiful backdrop to this special night of culinary enjoyment and conversation. It was delightful. Five stars.I would highly recommend this special place. We came from out of town, but will definitely return in the near future.

2022-03-21What a great new restaurant for Aptos! We had dinner last Friday to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We were not disappointed. Our reservation was at 7 PM and we were seated promptly on arrival. Be aware that parking could be somewhat complex since the parking lot of small so give yourself a little extra time. We were treated to 2 complementary glasses of cava and quickly shown to our table. It was a busy evening. It’s a bustling and a little noisy inside but that’s to be expected for the space. We ordered our entrées and starters. The starters were brought out quickly. My wife had a bruschetta and I started with the under da sea. Both were unique and wonderfully tasty. For our entrées, my wife had the pasta special with ribeye and I had the signature risotto with scallops. What can I say they were both fabulous. Even though this is a newly opened restaurant, and one would expect a few bumps, they weren’t particularly noticeable to us. Service was professional, attentive, and pleasant. The quality of Chef Williams product is outstanding. Extremely fresh ingredients. The price point is a little bit high, but worth it. We wish him continued success and look forward to exploring other menu items. One note is that we brought our own wine that evening but did have some of their sparkling wine which was a perfect match for our appetizers. A special thanks to Rashel and Mia for taking such good care of us. One last note, they do have a small patio in the back which can accommodate well behaved dogs. Reservations are a must.

2022-03-31The food was great! They have some kinks to work out and need to amp up the service level. Pretty atmosphere and nice touch with a glass of bubbles upon entry. We plan to go back for another try but it is a high price point so we expect excellence. Our appetizer came before our wine after waiting quite a long time to taste before purchasing a bottle. Its really nice to see creativity and fresh ingredients on a menu and we will try it again.

2022-07-24This was an experience that was entrepreneurial and novel. The pear salad was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted with just the full head just sitting on the table, incredibly well dressed and delicious. The fish sausage was not a gimmick but an incredible tasting sausage that had fish inside of it. That sounds silly but I was just expecting a gimmick dish. It was not!The chocolate cheesecake was by far the perfect dessert I’ve spent years looking for.I left inspired and excited to tackle my own personal challenges in life. The price point is high but you get way more than what you pay for here. Can’t wait to come back as I know this chef will be pushing the limits. Kudos and well done.

2022-03-20Greeted by a professional charming hostess who opened the door for us and offered us a complimentary glass of champagne while we waited for our table! 2022-03-20Having heard of this new restaurants soft opening, we promptly booked a table for 4. We found the atmosphere to be unfussy and service quite friendly. The food is refreshingly non-standard, with the quality of ingredients coming through in the final presentation. The flavors balanced with one caveat, there was a bit too much oil in a couple of dishes. This being a new effort from a young chef shows great promise in the months and years to come. Overall, we were pleased with our experience but be aware, the price point is decidedly aimed toward the Silicon Valley crowd.

2022-05-10The ribeye was wonderful (rare, not medium rare), but needs a much sharper knife served with it. Otherwise you get the ear-pinching scraping on the plates! Seating was okay- tables are packed in and privacy is limited. Overall good first experience despite some hiccups with our order. Once cocktails are on the menu, we will return.
