We need to vacate our home for 2 nights as new carpet was being installed in our home.Room was really big, beds were comfortable, appreciated small refrig * microwave.Cons: A/C-heater was so noisy we shut it entirely to get some sleep.Front Desk people were less than welcoming.Breakfast was in a paper bag handed out upon request (1 orange, 2 high carb items).
Overall, the hotel is a budget friendly option with good value for the rate. The room was quiet and clean to come back to after a day exploring. The hotel definitely needs some updates, the hallways and balcony were dingy. However, service was great, we loved the packed breakfasts and coffee in the lobby. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Clean, comfortable and Nob Hill a very short walk. A very good sushi place less than a 5 minute easy walk called Sushi Garde. A pizza place I didnt get to but is in the same shopping area as Nob Hill. A Rite-Aid is also in the same shopping area. The main part of Capitol can be walked to but a little to far me. Drove there within 5 minutes. I will definitely stay at this Quality Inn again.
I start with what I did like: they gave me late check-out, the bed/pillows were comfy & the grounds felt safe. That said... I booked a King Suite w/fireplace that wasnt ready at check-in. Front desk said it would be ready in 10 min. I went to the room, the door was open, I walked in and saw that they hadnt even STARTED on it. I had a meeting to be on soon. I went back to the front desk. Same guy said, I guess they need longer. It should only be 30 minutes. I said, 30 minutes to clean that huge suite???? I had only seen one woman working, so I said I have to be on a meeting soon, so I guess Ill have to take it elsewhere. A different guy followed me out (just starting his shift) and said Wait! I could put you in family suite now. Iy was nice that at least he tried to find a solution, so I said yes. Sadly, it was smaller than the King Suite and that it didnt have a fireplace Id booked and was looking forward to. However, since I had that online meeting, I needed a room ASAP. There were crumbs on the table, & old lettuce on the kitchen counter. The bathroom tub had a hair in the drain, a long curly black hair on the floor and a hair stuck to the towel rack. The other bathroom had a hair in the sink. The headboard of the bed I slept was very dusty, and I saw crumbs on the floor. I hoped to sit on the patio, but it was next to the parking lot and the path to the parking lot, and not private. I am a Choice Rewards member and very disappointed in my stay. I spent points plus cash for all these issues. Wish I could get my points back, at the very least.
Came on Labor Day weekend so I payed too much. But they got me in. Not a bad place. Clean enough. And close enough to the fun stuff. Certainly not a Marriott. So if youre planning on spending lots of time in your room go somewhere else. Looks like they might be making some improvements as well. Id come back.
I stayed here recently and the experience was mainly good. It was clean and mainly quiet. I needed to stay past check out time for some meetings that were delayed and they accommodated me and were very friendly. I was so grateful.Sadly it was pretty hot and the AC in my room was very loud and not very effective, so sleep was difficult.
So, its day two at about 3pm and a maid walks right in. Then, a couple minutes later theres a loud knock on the door from management. My husband answers the door while I get dressed. The man at the door has immediately assumed that he needs to play bouncer on some guests who have overstayed their welcome. He was extremely rude and stern about what time checkout is and the fact that we needed to leave IMMEDIATELY. All the while my husband is trying to explain to him that we have reserved a second night. He told us that he already checked our name and there was no second reservation, so WE must have made a mistake and booked for the wrong day. He also stated that the hotel was fully booked and, if we wanted to stay the second night, we would have to pay for the two bed suite. THEN HE ASKED FOR OUR NAME - remember he already checked our name for a second reservation and it didnt exist. So, we pack everything up and meet the guy at reception. By the time we got up there, he had found the second reservation and was sorry for the inconvenience. We switch rooms to the regular king bed room and had to scramble to get ready for maternity pictures (the reason for our stay). The regular king room, by the way, DID NOT HAVE A SMOKE DETECTOR - which I have pictures of. We were hoping to have a relaxing stay at the beach and have our maternity pictures taken, but instead we got bounced from our room like criminals and I didnt get to finish getting ready for pictures.
Ive been staying at this hotel for several years when I come out for work or visiting family. Theyve always been attentive, they do not have a turnover so its always the same people there. And their management has always been great. The rooms are always clean. In fact they have been upgrading the rooms in the last year+. And its not in Santa Cruz! But 5-10 min away.
I’m so frustrated at this location and how it essentially ruined our romantic getaway. Without delving deeply into it. Food was left in our refrigerator from the previous occupants, our bedspread was stained. Although we were on the bottom floor, looking up we could see how badly dryrotted The upper balcony was… I can’t believe the building department has not shut this place down. To top it off… Our luggage was stolen from our car. We were told by the desk clerk “yes, it happens”. That’s it?! Over $300 a night!! Never again!
Pretty nice, and less expensive than other options in the Capitola/Santa Cruz vicinity. Not bad for the price, considering you get a clean and spacious room, an outdoor balcony (no views, but nice weather!), and an okay to-go breakfast bag (ours contained fresh fruit, pastries, and a microwave egg-and-bacon biscuit sandwich.)No complaints!
Once again, Quality Inn & Suites- Capitola, was a pleasure. Clean & comfortable rooms. The staff provided excellent customer service and even remembered to stock my room with extra coffee for my mornings. That would make anyone wake up with a smile. The buildings are well maintained and the property looks great. This is my #1 hotel by choice and I plan on staying at this location in the near future. I highly recommend The Quality Inn & Suites- Capitola.
Check-in was easy and the lady at the front desk was courteous. The room was clean and decent size for two queens. The air conditioner did not work well and the bed was only a couple of inches from the unit so the person sleeping on that side of the bed was cold while everyone else was warm. In the morning, we discovered the power was out and when we went downstairs to check on it, the worker was rude. We packed our things avd checked out by 8:00am.
We were so pleased with everything about our stay at this Quality Inn. I booked our rooms over the phone with the manager and was able to get a great price. The rooms were spotless and resort like with their modern decor. The bathrooms had the longest granite counter tops that allowed us tons of storage and area to get ready in the morning and the bathrooms were sparkling clean. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were very spacious compared to other similar hotels and we felt quite at home. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and made the room even more of a value as we did not have to go out for breakfast every morning. When we booked the room, we did not realize that the pool was heated. At the end of the a day of sightseeing, a swim in the pool was so relaxing. The courtyard was beautiful and filled with colorful flowers and tropical plants. You could tell that the manager and staff take great pride in their work. The manager gave us a beautifully illustrated card of Capitola at checkout. That was one of the special touches that made this Quality Inn second to none.
This is my favorite hotel in the Bay area. When I stay here I feel welcome and anything needed is always taken care of by the front desk/staff. The rooms are very comfortable and there isnt a problem when it comes to relaxing. The front desk always greets with a smile and its a great way to start my stay whether its for one night or one week. Im always happy with Quality Inn- Capitola.
Why were we placed in a first floor room below a family that was staying long term? You must have known they are loud. That first night was miserable. Thankful that we stayed in a different room the second night. But both rooms had a patio/deck light that couldnt be turned off. It looked like sunrise all night. I ended up putting bath towels above the curtain rods and pushing furniture against the curtains.
Very friendly hotel, we been here for business with American Pavement Systems (APS) for over a month and it’s been a great stay! The owner of this hotel definitely has a lot of pride in this hotel and cares for his guests. Also this hotel is not designed for big truck parking but we spoke with the owner and he accommodated us by let us cone off 5 parking stalls daily for are super dump. Even the weekend when we wanted to go home, the owner let us leave our truck in his parking lot coned off. The rooms are super clean. The staff and maids are very friendly. Props to the maids who go to each room every single day to make sure it’s clean and sanitized during times like this. No other hotels are cleaning there room but this one is. This hotel has a lot of care for there customers, it definitely shows when you stay here. We loved the fact that not only is it clean on the out side its clean on the inside and remodeled. The owner will be out and around the complex daily, super nice guy! We will definitely be back in the future. Come stay, you will not be dissatisfied. 5 stars definitely!
Located in the heart of Capitola--not on-the-beach--this hotels easy to find and a lovely place to stay, close to everything. As a long-time resident of this area whos since moved to San Francisco, I always stay here when business or car repair or whatever takes me back. If you want a place that isnt fussy or fancy but totally delivers, give this QI a try. Its quiet, well-maintained, and safe.
A little story for you: my 8 months pregnant wife and I were in the area for a wedding, so we booked a room here for one night. While we were at the wedding, my wife started having contractions because she was going into premature labor. While in the process of getting my wife admitted at the hospital, I called this hotel to tell them what was happening and that we wouldnt be able to check in that night! The cold response was basically sorry youre out of luck. They charged us for the room anyway. Yes, I know what your written policy is, but I was totally shocked at the lack of the staffs compassion given the circumstances.

I enjoyed staying at this good-vibe Quality Inn, in the perfect location in Capitola, tucked away from the freeway but close to a great shopping center with my favorite Peets, and just a short drive or walk to Capitola Village. The room was impeccably clean, with a very comfortable king bed, nice size fridge, big closet, and even an iron - which was needed. The hotel is very quiet, with the rooms not sharing several walls, and theres your own balcony as well. I wished the sliding glass door had a screen, however, as it was the only window in the place and it would have been nice to have it open a bit at night, without worrying about insects flying in. The staff was very nice and attentive, and the pool area looked very sweet. I didnt partake in the breakfast buffet as there were no gluten-free, nor dairy-free options, and overall didnt appear very healthy.
This place is amazing! I’m staying here for business and I have to say is it is hands down the best place to be. Rooms are nice and clean. Friendly staff and very helpful. In these times with all the things going on they are going Beyond the call of duty to make sure that each room is Sanitized for each guest and making sure that each guest feels safe! I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is visiting here 100%!
Ive been staying at this hotel for the last 8 months. Its a nice property. They just updated the bathrooms in the rooms, brand new everything in there. Floor to ceiling April 2019. I think the carpets need to be changed out imo. Im sure that will be in time. Some rooms are more spacious than others. Beds are in great condition but they are spring beds, so not the comfy. (Im used to memory foam). I like the fact that they have patios that you could sit out on maybe have a barbecue. Excellent customer service especially since they know me now. I dont rarely eat in the dining area as I feel the food isnt all that great. No elevators. So you have to huff up stairs if you want an upper level. This place stays pretty quiet during the week which makes it for good sleeping. I like the two back buildings.
Good spot, very close to Capitola Beach... Just a quick drive. Lot of nearby shops and places to eat. Hotel has no elevator but it was no problem for us, no breakfast at the moment but we just had door dash deliver or go out to eat. Will definitely be back at this hotel. (:
I have stayed at Capitola Quality Inn 3 times. Each time I have received excellent service. The staff is awesome. Esther serves a tasty breakfast in a very clean dining area. She is very sweet and friendly. The front desk staff, Pedro and Hank are always friendly and polite. The cleaning staff provide a very clean room that is inviting. I have had 3 very positive experiences in the 8 months.
Good location, reasonable layout for the hotel. The hotel was easily accessible from the freeway, and not far from the ocean-- a reasonable walk if you are in good health. The furnishings, bedding and linens looked dated, and could use updating, but the bed was very comfortable. The condition of the shower tile and detailing in the bathroom (caulking) could also be improved-- there were several cracks that could use attention. The in room coffee was good, and the room was more spacious than I was anticipating, so that was nice. I wish I would have been in earlier so I couldve made use of the balcony as it was a beautiful evening!
It was clean and sufficiently quiet; it had convenient parking and access to our suite. The staff was helpful and considerate of our needs. The hotel had good amenities such plenty of room and 2 bathrooms in our suite. We liked the heated pool and the variety of complementary hot breakfast options. It was difficult to book on-line but the person who helped us when we called on the phone to book was very helpful and we did not have to wait very long to get help.
Was able to book a room short notice for a one night stay on Memorial Day weekend. Went to Santa Cruz American music festival and didnt want to drive Hwy. 17 at night. Found a great deal. The front desk person was very friendly assuring me a late check in would be no problem. Room showed slight wear and tear but was clean and bed and the abundance of fluffy pillows was so comfortable. Although we didnt use the balcony it was pretty cool to have one. Close to beach but not really walking distance. Close to convenience stores and freeway. The hot breakfast is my teenage kids favorite (they love the waffle maker.). The grounds are well maintained and pretty. Definitely will be staying here again. Good reasonable rates for a beach town.
Convenient and economic hotel room with buffet breakfast included in the stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, the HVAC worked fine and all the other amenities were good/serviceable. A good choice for the price point. My only complaint was thin walls. Heard people above us walking around, and heard people in halls and loud children in the room next door who awoke us earlier than I. wouldve liked.
I gave the hotel 5 stars because is general, the quality and service one receives for the price is outstanding. The hotel is up on a hill away from the street, with huge old trees and abundant landscaping, so its quiet and restful. The grounds are really quite lovely. The room was generous and clean, with good wi-fi service. The staff was helpful. I can only find fault with the carpet, which was clearly quite old and had numerous stains. Other than that, this Quality Inn is a fine value. The desk clerk fulfilled my request for an easy-access room...I was able to park my car and just walk a few feet to my door.
Hotel was cute bungalow or apartment style only 2 stories. The rooms were large and spacious. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom has updated style and look. TV was smaller and placed far away from beds, so this did make it difficult to see, and has to turn volume louder as a result.
Loved having eggs, bacon and sausage as part of the breakfast. The ladies working in the breakfast room were very nice. The bed was comfy and it was a good size room. TV small and no paper to give you the channel numbers. Needed more bathroom towels and nicer towels. I was impressed how clean the bathroom was. To tell a bathroom is clean is to check the floor especially around the toilet and the corners. Good size bathroom. Peet’s coffee, grocery store and Dairy Queen very close. Only a 15 minute walk to the beach. Shadowbrook is a great place for a wonderful dinner
Great location which is the reason I selected it. I had stayed here before so I knew what to expect, although I had hoped some sprucing up would have been completed since my last visit. Significantly overpriced but competitive on a local basis and, as already mentioned, the location is perfect for me.
When first checking in we were given a ground floor room but found someone luggage was already in the room so after going back to the front desk we were given an upstairs room. There are no elevators and my Lady friend has a bum knee so it wasnt a great switch for us. The morning breakfast was basic, it could stand some improving with healthier choices. All in all the hotel was decent and clean and a good value for the money.
Lovely stay over the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival weekend. We had a larger suite with two queens and a sofa bed. This room has 1 1/2 baths and was great for our family. Breakfast is ample with great options for everyone. We especially liked the waffle maker. The hotel is layed out in an open courtyard arrangement with individual buildings. There is a fair amount of noise coming from Hwy 1 and the walls do seem relatively thin. Rooms, bedding were all top notch and we slept very well. Staff was great. Definitely recommend.
Capitola is gem of a little town quietly located next to Santa Cruz. Was happy to find a hotel in the same vain. This Quality Inn is located in a quiet neighborhood amongst the trees for peaceful serenity yet convienently close to the highway and major roads for getting around the area. I found the staff very helpful and friendly overall. Rooms were clean and comfortable for the 3 of us, myself, wife and 10 year old. Price was reasonable for the area considering midweek and summer months stay. This is definately a worthwhile hotel in the area. Two issues did however have a negative impact on my stay. First, maintenence in the pool area kept it closed for the duration of the stay. Very unfortunate for my 10 year old who had his heart set on swimming. Staff had apologized at check in for the inconvenience but assured at the time they would be done in an hour and pool would reopen, it did not. Second, quality of the food and choices were sub par. They offer sausage, eggs and waffles along with various breads, cereals and juices. I would recommend not even bothering as the food was extremely disappointing. Plan on eating local as there are several excellent breakfast choices.
This was a lovely hotel for our coastal getaway weekend. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the sheets were soft. It was fairly quiet and the natural light from the sliding glass door was lovely. We were within easy reach of downtown Capitola (MUST stop at Gayles on your way!) and near the highway for easy access to Santa Cruz or a drive down Highway 1.The only negative experience we had is that somehow our room didnt get cleaned while we were out on Saturday. Neither of us really cared so we just requested extra towels, which were delivered promptly to our room.We plan to stay here again!
A bit too far to walk to downtown Capitola, but a nice clean quiet room with a balcony and a decent and free hot breakfast (usual Quality Hotel menu; scrambled eggs, waffles, toast, coffee, OJ, bacon, sausage). Overall a good buy in a nice but old hotel. No local TV (dish network minimal pkg), but do recommend overall, our 2nd stay there.
Capitola is a little gem of a town and this hotel matches the area perfectly. All of the property was impeccably maintained and well thought out with tables and chairs dotted about the grounds. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and informative.Breakfast area staff were attentive to replenishing food and kept on top of cleaning the surfaces too.Our room was was well equipped, freshly cleaned and kept cool by a fairly quiet unit.Although very small, the sun balcony on Room 324 was perfect for catching the afternoon sun.Overall I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel- it truly is a QUALITY Inn!
This hotel was fine in almost all respects, the most important things being clean and comfortable beds and rooms. The soundproofing in our room wasnt great, and the fridge was noisy, but these were really the only downsides. It was expensive for our budget but the most affordable in that area that we could find on the dates we wanted. We would have liked to have stayed a second night, which was a Saturday, but it was even more expensive on a Saturday night. We would stay there again inthe future.
We were in town for a wedding and wanted a hotel close to the venue. This hotel fit the bill, we were within a 10 minute walk. Even though the hotel is right off the freeway, our room was quiet and convenient. There is a large grocery store across the street and a decent sized fridge and microwave in the room. We had a small balcony, however, it looked directly at a couple of rooms in the next building. We were close to the pool but the evening desk clerk made sure that the kids in the pool were out by the time it closed at 9:00 pm so we were not disturbed. The room was a bit small for our king sized bed but sufficient for our needs. The breakfast was complete with eggs, waffles, bacon and sausage, and potatoes along with continental breakfast fixings (cereal, pastries, yogurt).
The hotel was clean and well managed throughout, we enjoyed our free continental breakfast each morning of our stay. The grounds we clean and safe and the parking lots were well lit at night. I wish that they could have had a handicap room available for my grandmother, because she could not take a shower during our stay at the hotel. Overall I was happy with our stay and will definitely be back to stay in the future while visiting family in the Capitola area.
The hotel needs attention - it is older and quite run-down. Previous reviews led me to stay here, and the reviews significantly overstated the quality of the complex. Signage and policies advertised no smoking, but the smoking areas and outdoor decks were filled with smokers (tobacco and more).
This hotel is in a nice location somewhat near the downtown and beach. It is right off the freeway which makes it easy to access but, well, its got a certain next to the freeway feeling to it. Once our room was cleaned (housekeeping comes late in the day), it seemed fine. We paid a lot more than I think it was worth, though. The staff is very nice and so are the guests. That is favorable in my opinion.
I lived in Santa Cruz for over 20 years and after moving away, need a place to sleep while visiting friends and relatives. This hotels location is perfect for my needs but also see its value for tourists. Nicely placed close to Capitola and Highway 1. My room, the breakfast room and the lobby were all very clean and welcoming. The microwave, mini-fridge and Dish TV were all nice amenities that even I used though I only stayed one night. Hotel is quiet and set up for private space on balconies or patios. Not flashy or stylish but a comfortable and calm place to be.
This was a beautiful hotel and the patios that come with each room are an added bonus. The room we had was very large. It was two queens. The hotel looked brand new so maybe they have just had a renovation. There were also tables and chairs around the yard. This was a nice added touch. We were told the pool was heated but it was very cold. My grandkids barely put their legs in. If it is cold to kids, then it is cold. I did put my hand in and it felt cold. The breakfast was par for a 2 or 3 star hotel. The eggs were somewhat tasteless but did look nice. The good thing was there were a few choices. I always enjoy having the breakfast instead of just rolls and juice. I would recommend this hotel for a stay in the area. We got a good price for the weekend. The hotels in the area are usually expensive so I was glad to pay what we did.
I wouldnt stay in this particular Quality Inn again. I did sleep well in the comfortable bed and my room was quiet, but overall I was not satisfied with the room. I was traveling for a fitness certification training and after a day of working out and sweating, was really looking forward to a good shower and hot bath. I was very disappointed in the poor water pressure and water that didnt get warm enough. Also, the toilet seat had dirt on it and I had to wipe it off. The parking lot also needs more lighting to appear and feel safer. The property itself appears well-kept overall, but the showers and bathroom cleanliness need improvement.
The setting for this hotel is lovely. When we arrived they were remodeling the lobby and had a folding table at the front door for registration. However, the manager was working with the construction workers and we were registered in record time. Very efficient. Each room has a private patio. Unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy during our stay. My only concern was our room in Building 4 was right next to the freeway and quite noisy. The room was quite large with a comfortable chair. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Loved it. Travel a lot. Great value,. Comfortable. Clean. Quaint. Great staff!!!! They need turkey sausages instead of that darn swine. I will visit this location again, although I generally stay at 4-5 Star hotels. We planned to stay only one night. We checked out drove a couple of hours away and decided to return because we liked the hotel and town. Checked out the second day only to return for a third night. After three nights we finally moved on to San Francisco where we stayed one night at a 4 or 5-star hotel at $600 per night and so much more enjoyed our three night stay--except for the darn pork!!!!!!
Hotel staff was friendly, polite and accommodating. Parking is very good. However, the hotel outside and room interiors are somewhat run down for this resort area. Hotel needs maintenance, nicer finishes and some tender loving care to get it closer to what customers expect for a Capitola by the Sea resort area. Breakfast was nice to have included, but not enough fruit selection and the eggs were cold. Thanks for offering yogurt for breakfast but Yoplait yogurt has TOO much sugar and many people prefer low sugar greek yogurt.
We stayed for one night at this hotel, and overall it was good. The beds are comfortable and our bathroom was recently remodeled. But you still get a feeling that its dated. Its a nice family running the hotel. Breakfast is included and it get you started for the day.
Stay was ok. Not what I expected, though, from the online descriptions. Name of hotel is Quality Inn & Suites Capitola By The Sea. Well, this hotel is NOT by the sea, even though its implied in the name. It is actually about 1 mile inland. There is no elevator, so if you like to stay on the top (2nd) floor, you must carry your luggage up the stairs -- and back down again. Breakfast was closed due to CV19. Building is on the older side, but our room had been decently remodeled. Staff was nice and helpful.
It was our first time staying in Capitola, we went on a spur of the moment trip. Our check in time was at 3 and we were still a few hours away stuck in traffic. I contacted the hotel so they were aware of our late check in and Jon was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very spacious and I love the balcony feature. Breakfast was good and room was very clean and put together, unfortunately the pool was being maintenance during out stay so my daughter was bummed she couldnt swim. But overall we enjoyed our stay. We will definitely book this hotel in the future.
We enjoyed out brief stay. Check in was easy and fast. When I arrived there was another guest finishing his check in and one of the people behind the desk was taking a moment to give a bit of info about the area. Very friendly. The room was good sized and clean. I normally stay at hotels more in the city centers so this felt almost a bit like being in the countryside. Breakfast was good. There was enough variety and everything was well tended to.
We arrived early and they were friendly and checked us in. The grounds were beautiful and quiet yet close to a small shopping center. The Shawbrook restaurant picked us up and drop us off with a free taxi ride. Our room was very nice. The breakfast was a hot meal and nice. The staff was friendly.
Room and bathroom were very clean except shower head didnt adjust. Theyre no elevators for handicap accessibility. We had a hard time connecting to the high speed internet. Overall it was nice, we are really grateful the even had a room available and accepted us so late. The pricing in great especial being so close to the beach. Most places charge an arm and a leg. The staff was very polite and attentive. Thank you
The hotel location is lovely......nestled in the trees and away from the hustle and bustle of people & traffic. The grounds are quite nice, and I really liked the bungalow aspect of the rooms. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The staff were less than friendly or helpful. The breakfast buffet was very inadequate.......not much variety, and what was there was cold and flavorless.
Overall a fairly nice hotel. The rooms were great; all the furniture was very comfortable with plenty of outlets and a modern TV. I also really enjoyed the balcony. The free breakfast was excellent. The WiFi was fast, but I had some trouble finding the password. The exterior of the hotel could use a bit of work, however. There were some broken chairs and trash on the ground near the main office. Overall, I liked this hotel and would stay here again.
Very beautiful and cozy hotel, I would definitely recommend to others. Lots of cute little corners with benches, cast iron furniture and gorgeous pants and flowers. Staff was very nice and helpful in finding local attractions. This is one of my new favorite Choice Hotels brand property. My only regret was that I didnt have more time to hang around the hotel more.
The bathroom floor tiles could have been cleaner. Mgmt might want to invest a few times a year in deep tile cleaning. The rooms were very large but had very little counter space. And because the room was so large the very small television was a bit hard to view from the bed.On a high note, the beds were very comfortable and the pillows divine! We even purchased two pillows to take away. And the on site manager was extremely accommodating.Thank you for an overall enjoyable experience.
Owner was friendly and helpful. It has was recently remodeled so everything is in great shape. It was very quiet. The refrigerator was so cold it froze my drinks. Unless you cave for the boardwalk, its in a great location. Its right off of highway 1. There is a small shopping right across the street.
Ok. Bed was great. Bathroom fan did not work. Mini fridge/freezer never got cold - was OFF when we checked-in around 1:30 pm. We Immediately turned it to high. When we checked out at 11 am the next day, our food from the night before was ruined due to the defective appliance.
This is a joint review with the Shadowbrook Restaurant, because these two beauties have a complimentary taxi service that shuttles you between then both. Couldnt have made me any happier.Large rooms, quiet spaces, extremely clean, friendly staff who are also very helpful, and the most comfortable beds! What more could you want or need?! It was great. Just great.
Overall experience was fine. Our second time staying there. The rooms however need to be updated. We stayed in the king suite and the couch was all torn up, walls were dirty and the bathroom looked pretty dingy. Since the suite is so big it would be nice to have larger tvs in the rooms so you can see them from the bed or couch. Plus side is the bed was very comfortable and I loved the pillows!
Our stay was good, located right off Hwy 1 and just 10 mins from the beach. The Hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly and quick with check in and check out. Would recommend this hotel. Only problem was the mattress in our room was a bit hard but can not comment on the other rooms mattress.
We are staying in a big suite for a bachelorette party weekend. The rooms arent super big but they are nicely equipped. They have fridges and microwaves, but unfortunately, only 1 shower when the 2 bathrooms can clearly accommodate 2. The customer service isnt the best. We called down to the front desk to ask for an extra set of sheets and were denied because it was too late at night. We asked for extra towels the next morning because we had 8 in the room and were only provided 4 to start. They never came. So overall the location is convenient and the rooms are clean, but the customer service is a little lacking.
Our stay at the Quality Inn in Capitola was fine. It was a clean room and overall it was very quiet. The bathroom was clean and there was a microwave and decent sized refrigerator. The free breakfast was pretty ordinary with the eggs being the previously frozen, over processed variety. We chose to go out for breakfast. My overall impression of this hotel was that it was satisfactory but nothing special. I am not sure why the rooms in Santa Cruz are so expensive. This room in Monterey would have been almost half what it was here and I noticed that in almost all the other hotels we looked at.
We loved the location of our hotel and the size of our room. The private balcony was a nice addition as well; we didnt expect that. We werent particularly impressed with the customer service during our check in, however we would consider staying here again if in the area.
Nicely remodeled room and very comfortable bed and pillows. The room was very clean and quiet. The breakfast was good and it had many options to choice from, the food was hot and the coffee was great. The staff were very nice and friendly. Will return here next time.
The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and the hot breakfast was great. It was nice and quiet. The beds were really comfortable, my sons and I slept very well. I would love to go back there and explore the town and surrounding areas some more. We would definitely stay here again!
On December 26th, 2020, my family and I left San Jose for a drive with no destination in mind. We ended up at this fabulous place for a one night stay!! Before we checked in at 1pm, we spent time at Capitola Village where we put our toes in the sand and got to-go items for lunch (Pizza My Heart, Margaritaville, and Paradise Beach Grille). We walked from the hotel to Nob Hill (less than 10 minute walk) for some additional snacks for our kindergartners. We will be coming back! Thank you!!!
Very nice and clean rooms/ bathrooms. Kinda old but not broken down. Close to supermarket and Peets coffee-- walking distance. Pool is small but clean and heated. Porch is really small and every one has a bright light on it. A bit obnoxious! Staff is courteous and helpful. No elevators. Good parking. Beach is 20 minute walk or 5-10 minute drive. Shuttle pick up is close. Will recommend to others. Very close to hospital where I work. Smoking area is ok with tables and chairs but needs some beautification.
On a short notice I was called out to supervise a construction project in the area so opted for my go to hotel chain when I am in unfamiliar areas. The check in was fast and courteous and the rooms were quiet and comfortable. Lots of room at the in room desk, and enough outlets to do my work. Very comfy bed. Nice restaurants close by and a market across the street. The breakfast was good with warm food, but did not open until 7:00 am, which is a little late for most construction workers. I would definitely stay again.
The hotel was had a great atmosphere. The grounds were beautiful and the way the hotel is setup with personal balconies, very nice. It is in the perfect location. It was only 2 minutes away from our Spa appointment and only 20 minutes walking/ 5 minutes driving to the beach and shops.
The hotel and facility was well worth the stay and at a reasonable rate, especially for the area. Building layout was different, actually unique and I liked the feeling it gave, just to bad I didnt feel very welcome. Sorry I imposed upon your staff just because I wanted a place to stay the night at. Might try again, well see. Proper staff to go with it and Id go out of my way to stay at your hotel, I really liked it and the feeling it gives out.
The lobby a was it is still under renovation but clean and orderly. Otherwise the hotel itself was great. Older hotel but nicely kept and you can tell they are working at improving it further. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Both for check in and departure as well as for suggestions of restaurants and things to do in the area. Conveniently located by freeway and while a short distance from the beach it still was only a 5 min drive into the village. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
This is a wonderfully situated hotel in Capitola/Soquel area. The rooms are large, they all have patios or balconies (I believe all rooms have these). The staff is simply great: professional, helpful, super nice & friendly. The place is a little in need of upgrading & the hallways are a little messy, but overall this is a nice place, with pretty grounds & a very relaxing atmosphere
When I first arrive it didnt look like a hotel. I looked more like condos. I thought that was kinda cool. As I walked into the room is was decent and big enough for just me. I thought the rooms could use a little updating but it seemed well kept. I love that there was a Nob Hill Market and Dairy Queen in walking distance. Right behind the hotel was a post office which I was in need of one to mail something off. Its also very close to the beach but not close enough to walk. Staff was okay, they didnt make me feel welcome or when I check out there was no interaction. I go my receipt and left. I would still recommend this stay. It was convenient for me for business.
I just needed a place to stay overnight so that I could be in place for an early morning work project in Santa Cruz. Found this place by searching for hotels near the project. It was fine for what I needed, I had an issue with a non working air conditioner in the room when I checked in, but the staff promptly moved me to another room with a good working unit. Nice location near the on ramp but not too noisy. Rooms are older but clean, bed was comfortable. I left the fan running on the A/C unit to drown out any noise from people in other rooms and slept good. Grounds are nice, and pleasant to walk around. All rooms are no smoking so there is no stale smoke smell in the buildings.I was not able to try the breakfast since it did not start until I was already gone in the morning, so cannot comment on that.
Very pleasant Hotel experience. Pedro at the front desk was professionally helpful from the initial call to check in. The location is lovely surrounded by trees on a little hill with an expansive lawn offering seating areas. Sunlit hallways to the nicely appointed rooms. The rooms are very clean and everything smells clean and fresh . The beds are completely comfortable and the linens of good quality. The rooms have small patios to add that extra touch. There is a pool for the guests. Free breakfast offered is quite plentiful, with something for everyone. The most fun was making your own waffles. There was cereal, fruit, eggs, potatoes, sausages, juices and coffee. Oh, and did I mention the waffles? Plenty of butter, syrup and condiments of course. I found this location to be centrally located to many of the things that draw you to Santa Cruz in the first place. It is close to Nicene Marks Redwood forest as well as Henry Cowell redwood forest it is close to the famous Santa Cruz Pier and Boardwalk, the quaint Beach towns of Aptos and Capitola. Nice hotel in a good location.
Ive stayed at this hotel several times in the past, but this time I was disappointed in it. It seemed a little run down; the rug in my room was dirty and two bedside lights didnt work. I had to report the lights 3 times before they were finally fixed on the 3rd day. The pool area is nice, and the breakfast room is clean and well stocked. They provide a very nice hot breakfast. It is a pretty good value, and the location up on a hill is away from the noise of city streets. I also had a problem when I checked out; I wanted to use a Choice Hotels gift card as part of the payment, but the person at the desk didnt know how to do it.
We stayed one night at the Quality Hotel in Capitola. Our night stay was okay. I felt for the amount paid for the room was not worth the price. The room was standard. There was a smell of urine on the right side of the bed, my wife and I could find out where it was coming from. It smelled like it was on the carpet or on the bed cover. We did not feel comfortable walking barefoot in the room as The carpet smelled like it had not been vacuumed in a while. However, we enjoyed the morning breakfast. It was a basic but it was very good.
This hotel is a gem, just off the beaten track in Capitola, south of Santa Cruz. Convenient and quiet location. Really appreciate the courtesy of the hotel manager--I was evacuated from my home due to fires and also working long shifts for my job, and it was comforting to have a safe haven in which to rest.
This is a great hotel to stay at located in the heart of Capitola. Its within walking distance to gayles bakery and supermarket is right across the street. Also within a mile from from the beach and boutiques. When driving up to the hotel it looks like a condominium complex. Your rooms are larger than most such a one bedroom apartment as well as a small patio. There is more than adequate parking and rooms were clean and semi modern. I would definitely stay here again.
This hotel was very easy to get to. Its right off of the highway. The staff was friendly and helpful. As I entered the second floor where my room was located, I noticed the carpets in the hallway were stained or very dirty. I did like the opening to see down to the first floor. The room was very clean though it was a bit smaller than I had expected. That was not a bad thing, it was just my first impression. The staff didnt get a chance to clean our room as I had the do not disturb sign out. They did not even try, which was a good thing. So I cannot comment on the housekeeping. Keep in mind that I did say the room was very clean when I first came in.Overall I was satisfied with my stay.
We stayed Aug 4-8th 2014 the hotel was perfect for our family of 4 we had a 2 queen bed room that was larger than expected. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs even greeting us by name as we passed in the halls. The breakfast was good although the room was a little klunky as far as the lay out goes, they could use more seating areas. We will be back next time we are in Capitola
Had a wonderful 50th wedding anniversary stay. Room was comfortable and bed was wonderful. Very quiet room. Loved the fact that the parking was not right next to the door to the room, heard no other guests and the hotel was full. Highlight of our trip, other than the room, was dinner at Shadowbrook with the complimentary 1950 taxi to and from our hotel. We will stay here every time we go to Capitola.
Kinda of in a secluded area (so follow the map directions) which isnt a bad thing. Very nice, friendly staff, great breakfast selection, the rooms are nice, they are in the process of upgrading. Heated pool. Close enough to the Santa Cruz attractions but far enough away from the riff raff. We will stay here again when we are back in the area in September.
Great location in a lovely town near the beach and out of the chaos of Santa Cruz. Breakfast is lovely. I like the look of the hotel from the outside but inside needs a total update and fresh coat of paint. Pillows and TV are too small. Hotel staff is nice and wifi is good. The sound of freeway traffic is loud if you open the door to the patio. The price is good if you get the Auto Club discount. This was out second stay and we will return.
Our room and the floors leading to our room were dirty and stained. We arrived on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The room showed Pizza crumbles and greasy finger prints on the desk, mirror and lamps. The beds seemed to be just straightened and not freshly made. The sheets itself had hair on them and had been in use for many years. They showed pilling. The bathroom was simply disgusting. The door had dirty finger prints, the bathtub was dirty and the lamp showed a quarter inch of dust. The towels had dark hair on them and were dirty as well. We picked that hotel because of its swimming pool but unfortunately it is just a seasonal pool in sunny California. We stayed only for 7 hours in the hotel and left at 3 am in the morning and skipped the free breakfast after recognizing that this place is just a dump...how can somebody every expect a good breakfast at this place, if everything else is just filthy and unbelievable dirty?
We enjoyed the nice, firm queen beds immensely, and the ambience of the room was welcoming. Fridge and microwave were a plus, and access to the wonderful coffee and espresso machine was a treat. The complete hot breakfast was a surprise, and to die for. This ranks as our most enjoyable hotel stay ever.
We stayed here for 2 nights, when helping our daughter move out of the dorms at UCSC. The price was much better than other surrounding hotels. However, dont expect anything beyond the basics for an overnight stay in Santa Cruz. The good:Free parkingFree WiFi & worked wellcomfortable bedclean roomIn room safe, Refrigerator, coffee maker with coffee + tea bags, and microwavegreat customer serviceThe BAD:No elevator to take up your suitcases to 2nd floor!Bring your own shampoo and conditioner (theirs was just awful quality)Poor water flow in shower due to outdated and old shower headBreakfast was tasteless. The only good thing about the breakfast was the espresso option on the coffee maker.
This hotel is in a great location and has a fabulous breakfast, including sausage, eggs, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and waffles. The grounds are pretty and, while close to the freeway, the noise isnt bad. It is close to restaurants, shopping, and the beach. What it can do much better is having housekeepers who pay attention to what they are doing. Our room had trash on a chair upon arrival and housekeeping trash left behind after cleaning the next day.
We stay at this hotel often as we own a business near by and live out of town. Each visit has been mediocre at best, but this visit took the cake. The room was disgusting, located directly above the owners quarters and the smells from their unit came through the floor and mixed with the smell of stale cigarette smoke. The bathroom was lacking to say the least, and the incessant pounding, maybe construction work, for 3 days straight mixed with the screaming children running up and down the halls made for a visit that was less than relaxing.
We had such an amazingly comfortable and safe stay at this hotel. Check in was handled well, with a pleasant and polite young lady who went beyond our expectations by coming to our room with a phone number and address for a dry cleaner after we had casually mentioned needing one. As we parked, we noticed well kept grounds and as we walked into our room, the scent of jasmine or similar scent filled the air. We had a quiet night, felt that our vehicle was safe in the lot.Breakfast was a treat. Waffles, cereals, fruit, toast, muffins, juice, yogurt and hot coffee for us each morning. The dining area was clean and everything well stocked. We had a minor plumbing problem that was handled in minutes by a young man who was quick in and out. He left our bathroom clean and made sure we were okay with the work.We spent three wonderful nights and were close to the freeway entrance which made our day trips to Santa Cruz, Carmel and Monterey easy for us to navigate. We also found a grocery store and drug store within walking distance. If we are in the area next summer, we will definitely stay here again. Finally, the manager, Ank, was kind enough to offer to send my new eyeglasses to me, after I left them in the room. He assured me that he would take care of them until I sent a return addressed box to him. I think that this is a very special staff. Management is excellent, obviously! Thank you!
We had a great stay in Capitola. The young woman at the front desk was kind and checked us in quickly. Our room was spacious and clean. We had a balcony, which was even enjoyable in the rain! They also had a vending machine that was great for a midnight snack! We will definitely stay here again when in Capitola.
We had two problems during our stay. 1) The pillows on the king bed were too small and made sleeping uncomfortable. 2) The valve that directs water to the shower didnt work. Therefore, no shower....The hotel did take $20 off our bill to compensate for the broken shower.Other than those two issues our stay was pleasant. The hotel is centrally located in Soquel. Breakfast had the usual items one would expect, eggs, waffles, yogurt, celear, etc. and didnt leave us wanting
Capitola is much nicer to stay than Santa Cruz. This hotel is very clean, spacious rooms, newer furniture. Food isnt all the great for breakfast, but I bring my own stuff. Everything you need is in the room, plus a patio for chilling outside and bbq(if you have a small grill if they allow it)
Stayed upstairs in bld 4. no elevators so we climbed the stairs without effort. Did not hear any of my neighbors however when we returned late at nite there were only 8 cars parked on the backside and just a handful in the front/side parking. The little balcony was of small dimensions that only accommodated 1 plastic chair, but it was very nice to be able to open the sliding door for the cool breeze. The microwave and fridge is welcome site, but could not control temp so got frozen strawberries and cherries - but they tasted good frozen! Wifi worked well so did the tv. Thank you for not piling umpteen pillows on the bed - the 4 was just right. Location was spot on as it was easy on and easy off to the freeway and back. Overall, yes i would come back.
I would rate it as the plus side of Good. Ive stayed at this hotel numerous times when I work in the area - it is close to the freeway, but quiet and still a reasonable walk to Capitola beach and numerous restaurants. The staff, as always, was friendly and extremely helpful - especially as they helped me to receive an important Fed Ex package. Typically, I have one of the larger rooms which I prefer, but this one was adequate. My company was willing to book a room at another hotel, but I have enjoyed staying here and will probably continue to do so.
We have stayed at this property several times and have seen great improvements over the years. This is a very unique little hotel in a wonderful location! While it is not fancy, it is clean, well kept and thefamily that runs it takes great pride in their facility. The location is great...;easy walking distance to grocery store, post office, drug store, restaurants, shopping and delightful Capitola by the Sea! In addition it is conveniently located just off of Hwy. 1.
Plenty to do and experience around there. Front desk staff could use a reminder of what hospitality is. Lobby hours leave something to be desired and maintenance could be a bit better. (Large holes in carpet). Over all I loved the location and greenery. Their patio was awesome.
Friendly staff. Great price and location. Bed was comfortable. Lots of great restaurants near the hotel.Downfall, cant order stuff on the TV and every time the maid cleans she unplugged the dish. Son.vit takes 10 minutes to reset. Then, the guide doesnt work! Ahg.Downfall #2, the breakfast. Im happy for a breakfast included but the eggs and bacon were odd. Microwave bacon? Fake eggs? The waffles were good. Potatoes were good and spicy. With all that in mind, Id still come back. Great price and location, I can avoid the eggs and bacon.
The overall stay was good. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. The only disappointment was that we booked a hotel with a pool so the kids could swim. However, when we arrived we were told the pool was closed until May. This was not noted on the website or reservation. Had we known the pool was not open we may have stayed elsewhere.
The outside appearance of the hotel and the grounds are beautiful; however, the whole building and suites need a major overhaul. The room was probably clean but its so outdated and worn it doesnt appear so. The mirror in the bathroom needs replacing, the bathroom floors and counter tops need replacing. The carpeting needs replacing as well as the drapes. Its such a nice property its a shame that it hasnt been maintained properly. We didnt like the fact that the doors coming into the buildings are not secure.
This hotel needs a lot of things done. Bad odor, felt like we were bothering front desk staff, repairs needed in the room and dirty air conditioner where something was spilled or got sick. Breakfast was ok but garbage overflowing where the food was. Talked to the housekeeper when we were leaving and she was the friendliest of all the staff. Owner/mgrs unit out front was very cluttered and unappealing when driving walking in.
We had an event at the Shadowbrook Restaurant and we like the location of this hotel because we can walk to the restaurant over the Capitola River. Its also quite near a popular craft beer place. The hotel itself is outdated and tired (but the fake wood floors are better than when they had dirty carpeting in all the hallways). They provide a sort of hot breakfast with prepared eggs, sausage, bacon, and do-it-yourself waffles, but their coffee is terrible (luckily Peets is just a 5-min walk away).
My son and I recently stayed at the Quality Inn in Capitola, California. We stayed in a suite so we could each have our own sleeping area. Our room was great. Lots of space and little touches like a magnifying mirror for make up. My son liked the well stocked vending machine and I loved the friendly staff.
Quality inn Capitola. This is my third stay at this hotel. The weekday prices are reasonable, the room is a little out dated and the tv is small and far from the bed, but we didnt come to spend time in the room so it was okay. On the last day my daughter and I ate breakfast before we left and both felt uneasy stomachs within 30 minutes, on our trip home we were sick the entire way! I would stay again however because the staff is kind, the location is close to family and the beds are comfy. Probably skip out on the food.
Good value, within walking distance to the beach. nice pool and close to a Nob Hill store, and a Petes coffee shop. Free breakfast, basic but the price is right, The only problem we had was a foul oder coming from the carpet area near the mini fridge. The clerk tried spraying it with an air freshener but the smell still lingered. We slept with the sliding door open for fresh air at night.
My wife and I had booked this hotel as a place to basically crash for the night as we flew in late to San Francisco and were traveling to Monterrey. We knew we would be checking in around 2am, and checking out in the morning, so we didnt expect much. The (manager/owner?) met us at the front desk when we arrived and immediately upgraded us to a suite. It was a great gesture after a longgggg night of travel. Great customer service. The breakfast the next morning was another unexpected treat. Eggs, sausage, a waffle maker, and a ton of fruit to get us started for the day. Definitely great when we expected muffins at the most. Before we left town, we went down to Capitola Beach, was yet ANOTHER unexpected gem. Totally added to the experience. Not bad for a place we half-heartedly booked as place to crash for a few hours. I would DEFINITELY recommend.
The location was awesome and so centrally located. Sean, the clerk working when checking in, could have been a little friendlier and used more eye contact. He seemed more interested in looking at his phone or something else. The room was quiet, but had some minor cosmetic problems. Our room was missing the interior safety latch. Aside from the minor setbacks, I would definitely recommend this property and stay there again.
Lets start by saying nowhere do they tell you their is no elevator.Being seniors we had to take everything up to the second floor. The refrigerator in the room made so much noise it kept us awake. They charge you a $1.50 fee to use the safe, except the safe would not open. The pool was not heated. Three days after our stay, I get a charge on my Visa card for $98.10. When I question this they tell me I reserved a room with them three days earlier and did not show up. When I tell them is incorrect, I was told it was no mistake. I then demanded to know who took this booking, what credit card was used and I wanted to hear the recording of me making the reservation. When I called back an hour later, I was told they were refunding my money. They did not have the courtesy to call me with this information or tell me how I was incorrectly charged. The rooms are all freshly painted, the breakfast was great, and for the most part the staff was very polite and helpful.
If you are looking for a comfortable stay where every staff member you come across is friendly and helpful, this is the hotel for you. My family has stayed here for years and in every case, they are welcoming and do all they can to make you feel like you are at home away from home. Several family members always stay here when they come into town and would not even consider another hotel.
Pleasant clerks. Clean facility with some construction in parking lots. Room was comfortable but there were several wall blemishes needing patching and painting. Shower grout needed attention. Shower head needed to be replaced. Courtyard design was pleasing. Hot complimentary breakfast was very good. Nice neighborhood near shopping.
Stayed for one night. That was enoughPros: Nice staff. Clean, comfortable rooms with plenty of space. REAL high-speed connection (I got ~1.6mb)Cons: Just far enough from the beach, you dont want to walk. More expensive then a lot of hotels in the area, you get better for less at the Holiday inn. Very smoker unfriendly.
The room was clean but set up in a weird way. Refrigerator and microwave was right in front of the sliding glass door. Room layout wasnt comfortable. Bathroom was average. Bed was not very comfortable for long stays. However, staff was pleasant and helpful and it is located very centrally to shopping and the beach. The room was clean.
A happy surprise to find this hotel so close to everything, shopping, beach, walking trail.I spent 5 days here, the room was clean and good size. I needed help using the printer and the hotel manager was very helpful. I forgot something in my room after checking out and the housekeeping staff saved it for me.Donna P
Overall we had a positive experience at this hotel. The cleaning personnel was very friendly and helpful as we were checking in. The bathtub could have used a little extra scrubbing, but not too bad. The front desk staff was a little questionable. The first person to check us in explained that they didnt accept cash for payment at check out. I thought this was rather odd, so my husband asked again at check out and they took the cash payment. WHO DOESNT ACCEPT CASH?!?! Every other interaction was pleasant. Close to a mall and Santa Cruz Boardwalk.
Grounds were well kept up. Plenty of parking. Check in very, very slow. The whole place could have used some decorating/character. Pool closed. Pleasant 15 minute walk to the ocean, with many stores nearby. A little road noise from Highway 1 unfortunately. Heater caused room to be too hot and dry. While there were sliding glass doors that opened to a patio - no light switch to turn them off, so the door had to remain closed, despite the awful heating system. The TV was small for it being so far away. The reception acted visibly bothered by our request for an extra blanket.Reasonable continental breakfast options: Espresso, orange juice and muffins surprisingly good. I am usually fine with just coffee and toast, but there was only grape jelly, which I hate. The things that I presume were meant to resemble eggs were disgusting. All those things aside, the biggest problem was that the bed was extremely uncomfortable. We both woke up with aching backs - we are in our mid thirties and in good physical shape, so that killed the whole experience for us.When we left, there was a vagrant and his dog sleeping on the grounds. We despite all this had a nice stay in Capitola. We will not be returning to this motel.
We stayed 5 nights at this Quality Inn and were very pleased. It was clean. The beds were comfortable. There was ample parking. It was quiet with very nice grounds. The staff was friendly and helpful. Ank at the front desk was excellent. We visit each year at this time and plan to use this facility from now on.
I would definitely stay here again. Loved that hotel was tucked back from the main Street which gave this place plenty of privacy. Lots of parking. Very clean room. Friendly reception area. Not on the beach, but I knew that booking this place. I would recommend this to my friends hands down.
The staff was amazing and helpful with a smile. The place was a bit of ways from the beach, to far of a walk for anyone over 40 I would guess, didnt have a view, but it was a place to crash. The front desk staff was awesome, from check in, to losing my key, to check out. Always had a smile, friendly suggestion, and great people.
My daughter and I stayed with your hotel in order to attend a wedding. Most places in Aptos were booked because of the busy holiday weekend. We loved your location because of the convenient off and on the freeway, the Staff service for checking in and out, and also the breakfast that was included. It was quiet and we felt safe walking down to the shopping center. We will definitely stay there again when visiting the Santa Cruz/Aptos/Capitola area. Thank you!
We had a great time during our stay. Accommodations were very clean, comfortable, affordable and lots of parking. Staff was very friendly, professional, courteous and accommodating. Breakfast was a wonderful additive, lots of choices and a definite time saver.Definitely will recommend to others plus plan to return next year!!!

2022-03-01If youre looking for a safe and quaint location, affordable and family friendly, and close to everything Santa Cruz has to offer, look no further than this Quality Inn in Capitola. I was looking for a safe location for my daughter and I. We were indeed comfortable and safe. Comfy bed, fridge and microwave in the room, and a small balcony. The bathroom was big and well-stocked. The housekeeping crew had great attention to detail. Completely hassle-free reservation, check-in, and check-out. We had a very pleasant time.

2022-02-05Quietly tucked off main highway. Rooms a tad small. Bathrooms recently renovated. No grab n go breakfast as advertised, but not a deal breaker. Some guests were loudly leaving at 4:30am, but not the hotels fault. Clean and comfortable.

2022-01-01My sister and I dont get out much therefor we were a little nervous about staying at a hotel. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely nice and made sure the following morning, while we waited to be picked, that we had coffee and took advantage of the grab and go treats. It may not seem like much but given the atmosphere we live in today we felt appreciated.

2022-01-17Fairly average hotel. Buildings and grounds are a bit run down. Staff was helpful and friendly but not overly. We had the double Queen bed room which was quite large. Room had a small fridge and small microwave. Bathroom was a bit dingy with white tile grout that was mostly all black with dirt or ??

2022-02-28A rather unique design, quiet, and comfortable place to stay. There were more scenic places to stay. A sound wall hides most of the freeway noise. The parking lot was very maneuverable for a single vehicle. And the freeway was only 2 or 3 blocks drive. A couple of places to eat a block away. A dozen more places on the other side of the freeway. Also a pleasant healthy walk to the beach.

2022-06-24It was one of the dirtiest hotel we stayed in. As soon as I stepped into the room I knew I wasnt going to enjoy my stay. There were spiderwebs in the room. The patio was dirty. We found dirty rusty Nails due to construction work they were currently doing. When we asked for room service for our first night, the man at the front said he would have someone clean it. When we got back to our room, the room had not been cleaned. So when we asked later that night what happened, the same man said they only provide room service every 3rd night. So he was not clear with this to start with. We would not be coming back to this place.

2022-06-27Had an amazing couple of days. If you eat at Shadowbrook Restaurant, they have a free taxi that will pick you up and bring you back. The drivers name was Don. He was a Blast. Definitely will stay again!!!

2022-01-27In view of the conspicuous quieting climate, this Inn is one of my #1 spots to stay!! They rested in an all around arranged and roomy loft. Clients who are going along the street would have a respectable encounter. It had been a magnificent evening.

2022-02-20The room was clean and well kept. The bed cover was a little past it’s prime, but not so much that it bothered me. It’s in a great location within walking distance to food and coffee. There wasn’t traffic noise which is a big plus in my book.
