Sales Experience: 1/5 (Lost order. No bike)The website allowed me to purchase an “Available In Store” bike that, apparently, was already sold. I never received a call or email about my initial order from any of the staff, so I had to call in 2 days after I placed it. Between these calls are ones that go unanswered. Call #1, my order couldn’t be found, despite the store placing a $4k+ hold on my credit card. Was promised a call back. Received no call back. Call #2, it turns out the bike was already sold and the inventory was not updated to reflect this. A refund would be processed. Call #3, (finally a call back)a more expensive model was available and the store could move my order to the second bike. I agree, because the difference is not severe and I thought the extra battery would be good. Why was it so hard to get information on an order?Service Department Experience 1/5 (Lazy, unsafe, Bike Build)I can’t find any positives in my experience with the service department. Some of these issues I noticed later and some I mentioned in the store. When I arrived at the store, the electric powered e-bike was not charged at all, which means the battery was probably improperly stored over time and that I was stuck at the store. The wires for the handlebars obscured the included front light. I brought this up to the store and was told to “zip tie it, maybe.” The battery was not adjusted to sit flush in its compartment. The Bosch drive system was outdated by a year. The pedals of the bike chewed through the crank arm within 25 miles of leaving the store and a couple miles into a ride. When these issues were brought up to Rich, the service manager, he explained that these issues (pre-pedal malfunction) should have been noticed and corrected before handing over the bike. They weren’t. I emailed Rich about these issues again after the pedal fell off and he told me that he would definitely be in the next day and that he would be happy to see me. I showed up the next day only to find out that Rich was “not in” which leads me to:Customer Service 0/5 (Manager is not customer friendly)Poor customer service, especially from the manager, Daniel. After explaining my issues with this $4k+ bike via emails to Rich, with Daniel CCd, I came into the store with the hopes of having any of my issues looked at. Instead I was met by Daniel, who was dismissive, curt, and unhelpful. He told me Rich was “not in” and offered no additional explanation, even though Rich stated he would be in. Daniel acted as if he had no clue about the issues on the bike so I was expected to explain it all again, which I did. When asked about the pedal situation, Daniel said “I would buy new pedals”. When asked to explain further he said that the pedals were known to do this and that I should have tightened them better. “It’s probably somewhere in the service manual” he said. I asked why this wasn’t mentioned before I took the bike home. He said “people don’t want to hear that they should buy new pedals.” So, this is an issue the store knows about yet does not tell customers about until AFTER purchase. THIS IS UNSAFE. When asked about the wires blocking the included light, he said “on my e-bike it’s the same way” as if this was perfectly acceptable. THIS IS UNSAFE. The rest of the issues would be looked at. Daniel did not initially provide a time estimate for the work. When asked, he said that the bike might be ready this Sunday. It might be the Sunday after that. The part would be ordered. Dismissive through to the end. I took my accessories and left the store, which now has my money and my bike. I got to ride it less than 25 miles.Really, I would just like feel like the store cared about me as a customer at all but it most certainly does not. It is telling that the ONE time I received a call back from this store was to offer me a more expensive bike.
Good morning Matt & Sandrine,On behalf of Fernanda and myself, I would like to thank you both for taking care of us last Friday as well as on Monday during our whirlwind purchase of our new TREK Domane AL 2 bikes. We both realize that asking you to meet us on your day off was a stretch and for that we are very grateful.Although the bikes will be moving to Georgia with us, the memory of your kindness will remain as we enjoy our future rides. All the best...and thanks again!Jim & Fernanda Dorsey l 2nd. time customers of Pasadena Cyclery
These guys are the absolute best bike shop in town. They are a family run business that’s been around for over 40 years and it’s easy to tell why. I bought a brand new bike from them a few months ago and have had issues with it here and there ever since as the bike parts “settle in.” I’ve spent a lot of time with the crew as I’ve been back and forth to the shop quite a bit. Everyone there is always so nice and welcoming and the staff are all cyclists that are passionate about cycling and are very knowledgeable. Gotta name drop some folks here: Rich, Sandrine, Matt, Daniel, you guys keep up the great work! Cheers to another forty years.
Customer service when it comes to accessories in the shop is great. But when it came down to working on my bike. The first time on my ghost bike. It was good. When I brought in my schwinn mountain bike. It was having issues shifting and the chain was constantly getting caught. I asked the guy to fix it and he said it would be about $140. When I got my bike back.. it was running fine for another week and a half before it started having the same issue again. When I told them about it. They said it would cost another $140. I honestly just gave up on getting my bike repaired until a year later..I was reccomended by someone to go to another local bike shop and the guy had said it was an extremely easy fix with the gears being slightly misaligned. $45 for the fix...I honestly will never get my bikes here repaired again. When it comes to accessories sure.. but not when it comes to fixing my bikes. I practically gave away my money to them to do nothing. When a local bike mechanic fixed it for a 1/3 of the cost.Update, Response to shop: it was under my husbands account not under mine. The fact you guys are looking into accounts to try to justify is alarming.
I bought my bike from a high end bike shop a few years ago. While the customer service there has been adequate, it lacks the personal touch. I recently had a flat tire and thought I would try Pasadena Cyclery as it is closer to my house. I was greeted immediately as I entered and taken to the repair section of the store. Very helpful and patient with my questions and my bike was fixed in less than 2 hours with some minor tweaking that I was not charged for! I understand why they had been given a 5 star rating!
I have been bringing my bikes here for maintenance for many years. they do s very good job and the price is very reasonable. i only gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because last time the rear shifter needed a little extra adjustment after it came out of the shop, which i did. also their selection of stuff in the store is great, and i appreciate their covid prevention measures
After too long off the saddle, I finally found my bike unrideable. Instead of trying to sell me on new components or even a new bike, Dave repaired my bike quickly and efficiently. I am wholly impressed by everybody else who helped, both at drop-off and pick-up. Thank you.
I walked in the door and right away got help for what I needed - an in-person tutorial about changing a bike tube from the place in the process where all the great YouTube videos I could find hadnt helped me. I dont know the name of the person who helped me, though Ive seen him in the store every time Ive gone in. Maybe its the stores owner? I so appreciate it when the men who work in this store treat me (a woman) & my efforts to learn about mechanical things as they would treat a male who acted like he mostly knew what he was doing. That has happened every time Ive gone into this store. I also appreciate that theres a woman who works there too. These reasons make me happy to give Pasadena Cyclery my business. I bought a pair of biking gloves and another tube for my bike tire and was on my way in less than 15 mins. Thank you, Pasadena Cyclery!
This is one of the best customer service I have received at any store. Theresa was very knowledgeable and helped me purchase the perfect size Trek Emonda SL5. It took me about an hour to finally come to the conclusion which I felt most comfortable on. They let me ride the bike up and down the street many times before I finally felt right. Not once did they make feel like I was being rushed and they really made me take my time to choose the right one. I was initially hesitant because I would hear stories about people walking into bicycle stores and then felt unwelcomed because they didnt know anything about bicycles. I didnt feel that all here. Theresa even gave me tips on better riding posture and she even took a photo of me riding in place . She showed how my posture differed from the 2 sizes. We even discovered my walmart road bike was actually too small for me. After coming here, I cant stop recommending people to get a bicycle from a bicycle shop, especially from Pasadena Cyclery.
The team at Pasadena Cyclery helped tune up my bike and replaced a chain I didnt even know was worn out. I also upgraded my tires with the help of the experts here, and I honestly feel like Im riding a new bike! Other shops in town wanted to keep my bike for a week just for a tune-up, and these guys had my bike back to me the same day I dropped it off. Expert service, quick turnaround, and top-quality products. I wont be taking my bike anywhere else! Thanks, team.
Thank you Pasadena Cyclery for excellent service. I was in and out within 30 minutes with my 8 year olds new bike. Friendly staff, thanks Matt for helping me out. I found the bike I wanted by checking their online stock and walked in to make the purchase. I was expecting that they would say they didnt have one in stock being that Covid had diminished stocks city-wide. Highly recommend this place.
Very patient with a newbie like me. Both Matt L (who helped me pick my bike) and Eddie (who helped me with pick-up, fitting, and accessories information) were respectful of my lack of knowledge and were never condescending to me. Also, thank you for being so nice to me every time I called to ask for updated delivery date. Im so happy I bought my bike from a small business! I feel like you will be supporting me whenever I need it.
The customer service is excellent. My husband and I bought both our bikes from Pasadena Cyclery, and were treated like family both times we were in the store. Daniel is awesome. I cant recommend him enough to anyone who is looking to purchase a new bike. He is patient, knowledgeable, and kind.
I was so glad I came here to purchase my bike! Really felt like I got the VIP treatment. They did an amazing job helping me order my bike and all the parts I needed. They put it all together and helped me make all the necessary adjustments and I was on my way to having a great ride! Definitely will be coming back here to make any future bicycle purchases. Everyone was very friendly, nice, and knowledgeable. They provided the best service! Thanks Pasadena Cyclery!
My mothers bicycle had been sitting in her garage for several years before I brought it to Pasadena Cyclery to find out what would be involved in getting it ride ready again. Both of the people I talked to in the repair shop were extremely helpful and friendly. They worked with me to come up with a plan that made sense for the age and type of bike I had and that was in my budget. I will definitely continue to bring my bike(s) here for a long time!
I brought in a folding bike to have the inner tubes replaced and they did a very good job doing it. The job took over a day and they were very good about keeping me informed about the bikes progress until it was ready for pickup. To summarize the staff are all good at their jobs and the prices are good, so go to Pasadena Cyclery for all your bicycle related needs.
I was helped by Rich on 2 of our older bicycles with replacing some tires and working on brake alignments and basic tune ups. Rich was helpful and explained everything and got our bikes completed within 1 day, which was very fast considering the amount of customers they had in there that weekend.I appreciate them getting our bikes back to working shape and also notice they sell a lot of nice new bikes as well. If I had to shop for one Pasadena Cyclery would be a recommendation.Good amount of front and back parking as well makes it easy to get in and out.
This is a friendly and very helpful bike shop we are fortunate to have in the Pasadena CA area. The staff is most knowledgeable on all the bikes they carry and have been a valuable source of information for the safe operation, adjustment and maintenance of my bikes. Ive purchased 5 bikes from them over the years, upgrading as my proficiency and fitness has improved. The only minor complaint is that because they are so popular in the area it sometimes takes an appointment to have your bicycle serviced in a reasonable time.
Good customer service, employees are knowledgeable and friendly. Their prices are similar to online retailers. I bought two Trek 820 bikes from here, both had to be ordered. They built the bikes (no extra charge). I also bought a bike mount for my car here. Will be coming here for future bike related purchases / maintenance.Private lot. Covid safe (everyone wearing masks, limited customers in the store, hand sanitizer at the entrance).
I had never used Pasadena Cyclery before but I was in need of a Park tool for installing my bike’s cassette onto my trainer that I recently purchased. The part I ordered had to be shipped from the warehouse even though it showed as ‘in stock’ on the website. I sent an email inquiring about this and was given multiple options to get the item sooner. Upon going to the store, we realized that a separate cassette for my trainer was a better option and I was taught some how to’s on getting my bike both on and off the trainer. These guys were great and went above and beyond to ensure I got everything I needed. Will definitely come back to support them in the future!!
Took care of me and my beach cruiser wonderfully. Other shops Ive been to made me feel like a bother for not being a real bike enthusiast, but these guys not only fixed my issue but found the root cause and fixed that as well. Will definitely be back for my future biking needs.
Great neighborhood bike shop with friendly staff. They’ll work on any bike you bring in- no bike snobs here! But if you need something high-end, or custom, or even a personalized fitting session, they’re great for that too. This shop stood with me all the way from fixing my cheap online purchased “starter” bike & re-learning to ride again, to eventually fitting me for a custom carbon fiber touring bike to get me from Los Angeles to Boston.
Very friendly staff and they provide great service regardless if you spend money or not. They’ve always helped me out with a screw here, oil there. In return I’ve bought items even though I could have found them cheaper at Amazon but Amzn can’t provide customer relations, and expertise.
At Pasadena Cyclery, Matt went above and beyond to look for another bike that fits my son when the one I had ordered from its online store (based on the manufacturers geometry measurements) ended up slightly too large for my son. Matt took measurements himself to confirm the difference in the stand over heights between the two bikes.
One Star for each of the basics:+1 Sales - Not pushy about anything while making sure you are getting the right product based on what you want.+1 Service - Just because service is never a problem at anytime. This shop knows the gear and makes sure you do not have to go long without your ride.+1 Staff - all are dedicated cyclist and have plenty of riding stories that translate into a wide range of experience that they use to educate the customers. All are regular people with a great deal of interest in making sure the customer is happy.+1 Support - After the sale, it has been wonderful to know that there is a local shop to answer questions about my purchase and that there is a group of people ready to offer advice as to how to handle cycling problems or meeting future riding goals.+1 Satisfaction - Having been to other shops that were closer to me at the time, I have discovered that the Pasadena Cyclery is most likely the best overall shop in the area.
Best bike shop around! Looking for a bike shop? Look no further! If you want people who care about you and your bike, come here! Its also hard to find honest people not trying to rip you off. These guys know their stuff and continue to give amazing customer service and really stand by their bikes and products. This is your one stop shop!
20 year customer. Went in for tune-up. got the #2, discovered bad rear wheel. took bike back for 3 rides on bad wheel while new on order. in one week notified wheel in stock.replaced wheel. went for ride: rear tire flat. brought back Sat 12/26. Long outdoor line. Young lady (blond) managed it and kept us all informed. Kudos for having her out there!Mechanic replaced rear tube at no charge. While waiting bought Bontrager helmet. Young female salesperson (dark hair) helped me with proper fit.bottom line: spent $640 with no complaints. a rarity for this Scot!!
This is a family owned business and they know their business! I completely trust them to steer me in the right direction for my cycling needs. I was having a problem with my neck and the jarring ride sometimes associated with cycling. Pasadena Cyclery introduced me to a product to help reduce the bumps I feel when riding. They installed it perfectly for me in a timely manner and I love it. I had no idea that there were products out there to help me continue with my lifelong passion of cycling. The bicycle we refitted is one I purchased there in 2007. It is a high quality bike and still like new. The Pasadena Cyclery will take good care of you with expert HONEST advice and great products. Im so glad that Ive been a part of this business for years and will continue to be for years to come. Thank you Pasadena Cyclery!
I called ahead to see if same-day service was available for replacing a warrantied part on my bike. On the phone Matt was friendly and helpful, connecting me to the service department promptly. Marcus in the service department was optimistic about being able to help me and encouraged me to swing by the shop. Once I arrived Matt and Marcus were immediately helpful sorting out my situation, and the mechanic got right to work. The shop atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and I spent some time browsing the merchandise. I also had a good time chatting with Marcus as he repaired my bike. He finished the repair in record time, noted some issues that I should be aware of, and quoted me an unbelievably good price for his services. I was able to leave the shop with my bike in perfect working order in time to make my MTB club ride that evening. What a great experience, thanks Pasadena Cyclery! And special thanks to Matt and Marcus.
Excellent customer service. I greatly appreciated that the sales rep I met with wasnt super pushy about getting me to buy a bunch of stuff or hovering over me while I was browsing. Additionally the sales reps were very knowledgeable and answered every question I had about the bike. I would definitely shop here again and will be coming back for any service needs I have with the bike I got here.
I absolutely appreciate being able to purchase what I need and get great service from this local bike shop. I feel this is particularly important as we lose so many small business to online shopping and, when it comes to bikes, I prefer the benefit of previewing what Im buying and asking questions. Theyre super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Love that they have a program to trade-up kids bikes, too.
Ive been very happy with customer service at Pasadena Cyclery. Honest & helpful every time I go there. A great family style business. I got a Bike Fit there last year and it made a massive difference for comfort on long rides. Mechanic advise and service has been solid too. Long live the local bike shop! Thanks!
Marcus provided excellent service. With his help I learned a great deal about my bike, and my problems were solved quickly and within the time promised - which was same day. I appreciate the great work and service you guys at Pasadena Cyclery provide and going forward I plan to suggest you to my friends for their bicycling needs. Thanks!
This Team at Pasadena Cyclery is super friendly, extremely professional and they, flat out, know their stuff! Ive purchased four bikes from Pasadena Cyclery thus far I will definitely be purchasing my next bike from them as well. Keep up the good work and the exceptional customer service.
I recently brought my Canyon road bike in for brake bleed and tuneup. A few weeks later the gears needed a slight adjustment and they were able to turn this around right away. I wouldnt hesitate to bring one of my bikes back to this shop and knowing that its family run is even better.
I love the service and the fact that team members know me by name. This makes me feel like part of a community and reaffirms my support for small businesses. Even though I have a bike shop 5 minutes away from my location, I am willing to make the drive to Pasadena Cyclery to enjoy their service.
Markus, your sales and front service rep., is very knowledgeable and skilled. He sells you what you do need and doesn’t push what you don’t need. He built my bike a year ago and I have been nothing but happy with the experiences and freedom it has given me. The bike is a perfect fit for me and I just keep growing into the bike as it challenges me to go farther and faster.
I bought my first real bike from Pasadena Cyclery. As a newbie, I didnt know which bike I should choose, or how to determine if a bike was a good fit for me.The staff were very helpful and helped me choose a bike that I absolutely love. They didnt try to upscale me or persuade me to purchase items that I did not need. There is also a service shop inside the store which is very convenient!
Until recently, I hadnt owned a bicycle in over a decade. I came here to buy a bike for getting around my neighborhood while taking advantage of an employer fitness credit. I was amazed by the quality of the service here: they knew exactly what I was looking for even though I had difficulty articulating my needs, and they invested a lot of time and help in me despite my bike/gear being an order of magnitude less expensive than for what I presume is their target demographic. They even gave me directions for a bike-friendly route home past the interstate. Clearly I have no independent knowledge of bikes, but it inspired a lot of confidence to see so many obviously pro cyclists around the store getting advice on modifications/repairs/higher-end bicycles. Dont be intimidated to come here if you are just looking for an entry-level bike: they will give you great advice!
The people of Pasadena Cyclery are very knowledgable, patient, and customer oriented. The bike mechanics there are extremely thorough, service-oriented, and take their time diagnosing and repairing any ailment your bike may be suffering from. Mike P. saw to it that my old 2007 Specialized FSR Comp Pro was finely tuned and ready to hit whatever I threw at it. Definitely going to buy my next road bike there, to which their prices are very competitive to other shops in the area. Glad Ive found a new home for bike servicing.
I brought in three bikes, each with different issues and a flat-tire from my road bike. An organized 5 persons at a time flow and clear measures for Covid safety were immediately visible. I explained the issues with each bike while the service team listened and offered a plan to get each bike roadworthy. Then while I waited, each bike was repaired and tuned. Each bike was methodically gone through. The whole process took less than an hour, an amazing feat for a Sunday. I was blown away. Perhaps the best bike-shop in So-Cal,.
Going through a bike build with this shop, ie, brought my own parts in. Markus and Steven have been awesome while working with me on this. Theyve taken the time and answered questions, explained things to me, and made sure I ordered the correct parts I was missing. I would absolutely send people their way.
Outstanding! I showed up at 1 pm this past Sunday. Everyone was wearing masks, you could not walk into the store without first sanitizing your hands and the store had a limit to how many people were allowed in. All great things during these times. Ray immediately introduced me to the Trek Checkpoint AL3 and it is quite possibly the best bike I have ever been on. By 3:30, I picked it up with lights, clip in pedals, shoes, helmet, water bottle mounts, padded pants and I was ready to go. At 5:30, I was on my first ride on the street and then off the path for a solid two hour ride. Absolutely unreal. I did not expect to be on a bike until the next day. Ray and the people at PC are true professionals. Buy your bike from them!
I visited Pasadena Cyclery looking for handle grips and had no idea how much help I would receive on a seemingly simple item. Not only did Michael P. guide me to a more heat- and sun-resistant grip than the one Id selected, but he also taught me that I could adjust the grip shifter position on my wifes bike to give more grip area, and then cut the grip to the appropriate size. He even shared tricks he uses to more easily install the grips (twist ties! Who wouldve thought!).My little shopping experience turned out far better and educational than I ever could have predicted.I buy a lot of stuff online but this experience is why for something like this, nothing beats a trip to a place filled with bike gearheads like Pasadena Cyclery.
Pick up my bike for brake service. Got home realized they adjusted seat too high and did not return to original height. The lever to adjust seat is missing. I just hired a transportation to pick up. Now I cannot use bike seat too high. Person who worked on my bike I think broke the lever to adjust seat. I have to hire transportation just to return bike.I called them however no solution.
I had not used this bike for 7 years, and brought this filthy bike into Pasadena Cyclery to have it fully check out. They gave me an estimate, and said it would be about a week.I got a call the next day saying it was ready, and the cost was 30% less than they had estimated. And it looked brand new. That is certainly a way to delight your customers!Thank you.
Pushy sales. Did not listen to customer. Sloppy bookkeeping.I told them I would like to order a certain model of MTB, they flat-out told me that I did not want that type of bike. So I end up buying a more expensive bike than I really need. A few weeks after I picked up the bike, they are hitting me with messages; they forgot to charge me for services to put the bike together.
I was impressed with Marcus knowledge of parts, materials, and engineering, Steeves customer service skills with myself and other customers, and Daniels guidance to help me decide what I need for my bike. Over all, it was a satisfying visit, and I think those 3 make a great team.
Had bought a trek bike as a present and was told that it was returnable for any reason if they didnt like it . They were not loyal to their word at all when I was told by my friend they tried to return the bike for a different bike and straight frame but they did not accept the return for whatever reason . Never recommending this place to anyoneSorry I cant figure out how to reply to your response . If youll like send me an email please and thank you . [email protected]
Im a long time customer, deeply appreciative of the dedication, knowledge and social skills of the staff. Pasadena Cyclery has some truly excellent mechanics, for just about everything, road and mountain, race and commuter, enduro and XC, pavement and gravel. They support the LA cycling community, sponsoring high school teams, supporting the trail builders, offering classes and group rides. They have excellent products, from complete bikes to every little component. and what they dont have, they can get quickly. My go-to bike shop.
A truly excellent bike shop with a superb collection of Trek, Surly, Brompton (folding), and All-City bikes. Great selection of Bontrager accessories in-store. Also the BEST place to get the fairest trade-in value for your bike (hands down). Was looking to sell my bicycle and they gave me the best price based on fundamentals (Bicycle Bluebook). Finally and I only came to learn this - they have great bicycles for rent and the prices are genuinely great if you want to really test out a bicycle before splurging... Road, Hybrid, Mountain, and Urban Commuter all available. Great service center as well.
After a week of training with my company in downtown LA, I planned on doing some road biking over the weekend before finally going home again. Pasadena Cyclery provided me with a rental bike perfectly fitted with craftmanship to my needs and thus enabling two perfect day trips. The friendly team handled the whole rental process swiftly and efficiently and so I can recommend Pasadena Cyclery wholeheartedly to any other fellow cyclist. Thanks from Germany!
I took my Trek Fuel EX8 in for Red Shield service just before its fifth birthday. The shop guys, Rob in particular, did a fantastic job of assessing the wear and tear and basically replacing or rebuilding almost all the moving parts. The bike is quiet and smooth and I couldnt be happier with the quality of the work and their communications with me on status. So I got full value and more on my Red Shield (and a pint glass). Five stars all the way.
I brought my Trek Speed Concept to get a gearing issue fixed after taking it to two other shops and still having issues with riding up hills. Steven at Pasadena Cyclery kept my bike a few days past what wed agreed on, but only because the bike still wasnt shifting properly after the work theyd completed. It turned out to be a cabling issue that took them a lot of time and effort to fix, but they stayed within the estimate and now the shifting is crisp, clean and hills are not a problem any longer. Top notch.
Called this place to ask about what manufacturers bike they carry because of the good reviews and we want to buy some bikes. This is how the 10 second conversation went:----Me: Hi, uhm do you guys carry Raleigh bikes because I saw it being mentioned somewhere on your website?Guy: No, we no longer carry Raleigh products.Me: Oh... ok. Well do you carry other manufactu..... *click*Hung up on me.----Havent even gone into the store and already made us decide that we never will.
We love this place. It is filled with nice guys, all of whom seem to be biking advocates. They just want to see more people on bikes. Ive been to other bike stores (ahem. Velo.) where they are snobby about racing bikes or any number of other things, but Pasadena Cyclery is an unassuming shop where you can buy a bike for commuting, a snazzy folding bike, or a high-end racing bike, and they dont judge. They also fix any and all bikes, even cheap Target ones. I have never had a bad experience here and Ive been coming here for years.
I asked them about prices on three different hub bearings options Pas. Cyc. said they would call back they never returned the call. I called them late the next day they had no prices. Then they had nerve to say we cant change your bearings after giving them the measurements and info the day before. TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION SKILLS and customer service.
I rode my Trek touring bike here with a weird disk brake issue and the tech found the issue quickly and made a number of extra adjustments for very reasonable fee.The store seems to stock the entire Bontrager branded catalog. The other accessories they stock are well thought out and good quality. One of the better stocked bike stores Ive been in. However, for most Bontrager branded items, there are no other brands available on the shelf. For example, they have a wide selection of tires on the shelves but theyre almost completely Bontrager.
Too bad theres no zero-star option. I went into this shop and walked up to an employee, dont know his name but he was an overweight middle-aged guy wearing a shop shirt. I said Hi, could you tell me where the tires are? He stood there and looked at me for a few seconds, then turned his back and started talking to some other guy. I waited about half a minute but he just acted as if I wasnt there. So I went to Helens Cycles in Arcadia and bought tires and several other items, over $200.00 worth of stuff.
Definitely a nice place. Very informative on all stages. Both times I was there at closing hour and other shops often act like they are not supposed to answer your questions and doing you a favor by doing it.. but they were pretty good and actually answering questions and helping out at stuff, seems like they understand as soon as they help you out as soon as you will leave.. so everybody wins) I live far from there but feels like I would get same treatment if I have questions/problems, which is a good feeling and so I can recommend you visit it, they wont try to sell you most expensive product.. so get a bike, accessories.. you will save on gas/parking and health anyways ;)

2022-06-22Would not recommend getting bike boxed up for shipping. Had Pasadena Cyclery package my bike (customer service/calling them was great) so it could be shipped. Unfortunately, whoever packaged it didnt take the stem off or wrap the frame of the bike, just twisted and forced the fork around, causing a pretty significant paint scratch (havent had the carbon fiber checked out, I think its probably fine). I doubt the person that did this did not realize they did this as it took some force to twist the stem around and reveal this scratch. See picture. Price was fine (80 bucks) and the rest of the packing job was fine, just super, super disappointed that whoever packaged this did it and didnt say anything.

2022-06-28I brought my bike in for its annual tune up. Your staff is super friendly and nice. I ride my bike a lot, but I know nothing about how my bike works. (Lame of me, I know!) David gave me a super great explanation on the phone as to all the work he did, all the issues happening with my bike, what has to be fixed now and what can wait until later. We even discussed whether at some point I should just buy a new bike if the repair costs exceed the value of my bike. I appreciated all that David told me. I appreciated his knowledge and his demeanor. Thanks!

2022-06-11A couple a weeks ago, I was out looking for a commuter bike. I had in mind what I wanted. I went to a popular bike shop in Long Beach, the guy who was helping me out was not very knowledgeable about his products, and in the middle of our conversation he left to help some customers who had entered the store yelling. I looked up bike shops that had the model I was looking for....Pasadena Cyclery had it!! But I was skeptical about driving almost 1 - hour on a Friday. Still took the drive!! It was the best decision I made that day. The staff were wonderful, very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. I was in n out of the shop Im about 10 minutes with my brand new commuter bike. I have gone back, dont mind the drive from my home, several times to get some parts. And as always the staff is helpful and always glad to help. If you are going to drop a couple thousand dollars on bike, look for a shop that wants your business, shows it with their amazing staff and excelente customer...thanks Pasadena Cyclery

2022-06-18Daniel is the best! I was looking for a commuter bike, a comfortable size, nothing fancy that can take me from my place to a train station. He was very encouraging and had a lot of advice. Im a first time bike owner, so I had to learn a lot. Its great that you can also try out the bike for a ride. Highly recommend if youre looking for a bike and not sure what to get.

2022-01-04Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Quick and easy service.Came in to check out a bike I saw on their website, that I didnt particularly love but figured Id settle for because of the supply chain issues. Wound up discussing my riding style and desires with Sandrine and she recommended a bike (Trek Fuel EX 5) that has been on my radar for a while, but hasnt been in stock locally. They had one coming in shortly so I was able to put a deposit on the bike and picked it up once it came in and was put together. Very happy with my experience thus far.

2022-04-28Everyone in the shop was really friendly and they kindly explained the service for getting my bike reassembled after my move. The price for the service was great. Work was done quickly and Im very happy with it.

2022-03-16I like a nice local bicycle shop that is well stocked, not a mega-store with lots of what you dont need. The staff is courteous and professional. Just a first rate experience!

2022-05-09Pasadena Cyclery did a great job setting up my 5 year old daughter with her first official bike (she transitioned from a balance bike). They assembled the bike, put on the training wheels, basket and even the bell within a few days of our order. They were even patient enough to give her some riding tips in the parking lot.

2021-02-27An honest store with reasonable prices. Although things may look a bit expensive at first, actually comparing prices reveals that the seemingly expensive things are simply high-quality things that cost quite a lot in the first place, rather than something cheap with high markup. And, if the store doesnt contain the right option for you (as occurred with me looking for a bike rack to fit my bike), they will not hesitate to recommend buying with someone else instead. This is a lot more honesty than I usually expect from stores, and less markup than I usually expect at physical retail too. I definitely recommend this as a trustworthy location that will not try to screw you over. The staff also appear to be very knowledgeable.
