If in SF and want a great place to stay book here or just go by they will have a room available. Very clean awesome staff although there is 1 bad apple in the bunch and price you will not find anywhere else. Parking alone is woth the room amount. From the owners to the front desk to the maids everyone goes above what one would expect. Thank you
They are in renovation mode n we were not informed. We got a room to sleep six people...no fridge...no microwave...no iron...the air conditioning consist of a floor fan. Towels were not clean. Someone even left there Pantene shampoo in the bathroom. Walls are paper thin so my husband was complaining left n right. We stayed because my family was coming from different areas. Will not go back.
We stayed in room 41 for one week. Inn staff were outstanding and very helpful in answering any questions we had. Initially Mike helped us secure reservations at a great rate. David and Alex were superb, courteous, and professional in customer service. Definitely we will be staying there in the future when the time comes. Great location and easy access to public transportation. Thank you again for a fantastic experience in San Francisco.
Very quiet and practically empty. Kind of disappointed that I paid a decent amount and instead of getting a larger, nicer suite they put me in a room the size of a shoe box. I was probably 1 of 4 guests top in the whole entire hotel. Would stay again only if a bigger room was available. Oh and I watched a couple of cars come in and out as if they were casing cars and i slept with one eye open keeping watch of my truck and trailer. Not a good nights rest. Could be better for sure.
The location is excellent. It is possible to go walking to Fishermans Wharf, Lombard Street, China Town and Union Square. The rooms are pretty decent for the price. Ours had a small kitchen with a small fridge, microwave and stove, so we were able to have dinner inside after a long day walking the city. It is offered coffee, orange juice and pastries in the lobby. You have to take it to your room.
Good place to stay if the weather is cool. It got a little warm in the room but it was very cool at night! Try to get a room upstairs! Front desk people were very nice. The breakfast spread looked good. The bathroom needed a few small repairs in our room but other than that it was clean. I expected less for what I paid on short notice so Id recommend staying here if you need a cheap room close to a lot of what north SF has to offer.
Nice location close to the Wharf. Theres no pool or hot tub, however I was pleased with free parking for our stay. The decor is dated however it is clean and safe. Id rather have dated decor with the affordable pricing that they offer. Nice staff, very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast in the morning is juice, coffee, and some muffins/pound cake. I would definitely stay again when in San Francisco!
I’m giving five stars here because while it is a two star hotel, it scores high on every category you would expect from a two star hotel: very clean, staff very friendly, it offers a free limited breakfast, the price was very reasonable and free parking with plenty of spaces. And in San Francisco that is a big money saver. Also the location put us within walking distance of Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square and Chinatown. When we didn’t want to walk, a bus picked us up right in front of the hotel door. Honestly, couldn’t beat it.
We booked this place through Airbnb. It proclaimed to be a Hotel with a Doorman, which is what my elderly mother and I were wanting since we are traveling alone. This is a motel with a man that works the front desk. We checked into our room and the smell of mold and mildew made us start sneezing immediately. The room was stuffy so I tried to turn on the A/C but was told they don’t have a/c. The only way to get air flow was to leave the door to our room open. There was mold/mildew in the bathroom. There aren’t closets in either room. The second bedroom was so small it only held a bed and a chair. There was broken furniture in the room, no lid or plastic bag for the ice bucket, no clock or coffee maker. The staff was very friendly though and there is free parking. We were issued a complete refund and the owner’s son was very understanding.
Its okay. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The toilet clogged every day and there was a tile loose on the bathroom floor, but the water pressure in the tiny shower was great. Even though we received housekeeping our sheets werent changed at all, but otherwise, housekeeping did a good job. The electrical outlets in the room could not get my phone (3-year-old Galaxy S8) charged to 100%. This also occurred with my Moms phone and our tablet. If we found an outlet while out and about, our phones had no trouble charging so it was definitely the room. Its an old hotel so I assume thats why. The wifi was okay. Not the best but not the worst. Also, they advertise breakfast included but its actually a few muffins and croissants plus juice or milk. Dont think youll get a full continental like most places. No cereal, no toast or toaster to heat the muffins. Its slim picking for sure.Overall it was a good price for how expensive San Fran is and how centrally located to everything the hotel is. Everything was under a mile away.
This place is very conveniently located and has parking on site! The staff was very nice and the rooms were cute, clean, and cozy. Theres a nice little kitchenette with a table next to a window, which was a nice place to have breakfast. You cant beat the price for the location and quality and Im definitely going to be staying again!
Rooms are simple and decor is a bit dated but they are clean, spacious and surprisingly quiet for being off Van Ness. There was also a pretty good kitchen area, which is great but we didnt have the opportunity to use it.Staff were super helpful and friendly about suggesting places nearby to eat. In the morning there is coffee and pastries that were all pretty good, although there is limited seating si you might have to take it back to your room to eat.
Good continental breakfast (cakes, muffins croissants, orange juice, milk and coffee but the cakes are actually quite good!). Room in good state, building is not very recent so dont expect luxurious decoration but it does its job well. Double double bed room had a real kitchen (with electric plates, cabinet and kitchen sink!) so you could cook there. Showers was hot. Perfect stay (1 night). Parking has enough spots but theyre very narrow.
We got there just in time to check in and the process was simple and pretty straight forward. We were given the room card and notified where the breakfast would be served and the time. The breakfast turned out to be very simple of bananas and cookies on that small area next to the receptionist. We got a room facing the street with a window that could actually open. Yay. When we went in the room smelled a bit lack of air. So we opened it and let it air for a good 15 minutes while we charged our phones. After that it smelled perfectly fine. The room was a bit small just with a desk on the right hand corner as we stood by the door. There was a big flat screen TV facing our bed. The inn I think was a bit outdated but its clean and just perfect for us. We decided to leave our car there and just walked out to Pier 39.
First off this is very similar to a motel. We knew coming in to have tailored our expectations. This place has done a better job than the tradional motel. The room smelled normal (no smoke etc) and the staff is amazing to deal with. They are very helpful. We were here for one night and it was great.
Bad value for the money. We paid $180 per night midweek plus $50 for taxes. The location and free parking were the only plus. The room was very small, old and not very clean. The amenities are minimal. Breakfast is served from 7 to 9 am and it is just a 1/4 of a muffin, nothing else. The room temperature is controlled centrally by the management and is was very cold in the room during the time we staid there. The walls are very thin and we heard every single noise our neighbors made.I would rather pay $50 more for one of the other hotels in the area or pay extra for parking than have no comforts during my stay.
Very helpful staff and a good location. We didnt need the car, it just stayed parked at the parking space by the hotel. Also, the bed was comfortable. That would be it when it comes to the positives. On the flip side:- Our room was very noisy and dark.-The tv didnt work.-After reading the reviews and seeing the breakfast area- litte space by the reception- we didnt prioritize waking up early for breakfast (its avaialable from 7 to 9 oclock) we just ate out.I wouldnt stay there again.
I brought my daughter to SF in March 2013 for a 3 day funvacation. When we arrived they upgraded our room to includea kitchen, (without asking) it was great. Both levels of rooms have quaint benches right outside the rooms for enjoying the beautiful weather. The rooms were clean, and all the office people for our tours and shuttle to airportwere very helpful. Our phone was out of order and they fixed it immediately. I recommend them and will stay there again.
Hotel seemed ok as we checked in as not fancy was fine with us. However we were put in room 15. It was a dungeon under the stairs. Depressing lack of light. Black mold in shower, rust on stove burners. Door looked out upon garbage and dirty linen carts. If you stay there make sure not to get stuck with 15!
Nice Location off of Van Ness. Free Continental breakfast in the lobby every morning. Parking lot can fill up, but they allow you to double park as long as you leave your keys at the desk so that they can move it. The room was decent, though the bathroom in my room was odd. Possibly a handicap accessible bathroom, but the shower floor was like a gym shower, and the toilet shared the same floor, so water from the shower can reach the toilet.
The location is great for its proximity to popular attractions such as Lombard Street, Chinatown, and Fishermans Wharf along with accessibility to public transportation. The quality of rooms is decent, but appropriate for the price. Breakfast is simple and of low variety.
Good spot to settle down if youre exploring the city. Walking distance from lots of fun places or else an Uber ride for 5-10 dollars. Very loud when trying to sleep. A lot of vehicle traffic that can be heard in the parking lot outside. Clean rooms with good space and nice beds. Easy check in and out.
Stayed here 1 night during our 15 night trip. Absolutely the worst hotel out of the 10 different hotels we used during our road trip. Upon arriving the bathroom window was open, and was not brought to our attention to close for safety as we were on the floor level of hotel. There were pubic hairs on the sink counter top and under the toilet seat. Extra top lock on door broken and dangling - not usable. Beds are awful squeaky rocks, as are the pillows. Half of the outlets do not work so when we woke both of our cell phones were dead. Walls are so thin that you hear everything that goes on, especially in the room above you. Worst is the shower. Mold on the shower ceiling (a lot). Water does not stay one temperature, it fluctuates on its own from ice cold to boiling hot. I put the temp as it should be - a nice warm- and had my 6 year old enter as we would any hotel for a quick rinse. No more than a minute later he screams at the top of his lungs in pain as the boiling hot water scalded his entire body. I was livid and went to speak to the front desk. They could care less. Claim they have no idea the water does this or that the outlets dont work. This hotel charges way to much for the quality of room youll get (and were not very picky people and often choose budget friendly rooms.) They do not invest $$ back into their hotel to keep it up to date and sanitary and maintain it as every hotel should. Mold should have been dealt with for instance long ago before it turned into a patch the size of a piece of notebook paper. Please look elsewhere especially if you have children. Its worth it to pay a little more to avoid this hotel.
I stayed there with my hubby and a few friends. Good place to stay, within walking distance from a bank, stores, shops, and bus lines. The room was clean and spacious enough to hold 3 double beds, and an adequate bathroom. If only their soap holder was a little bigger. The kitchen had a table, chairs, a small fridge, toaster, and a few supplies likes plates that came in handy on the first nite we were there. They offer continental breakfast from 7-9 am so early birds can enjoy muffins and other sweet treats as well as morning beverages like juice, coffee, or tea. Having a parking space allowed us to keep our car there while we explored the city on foot and with Uber. Hotel staff was friendly and courteous as well.

Spent minimal time there. The beds were old fashioned and very springy. The pans in the kitchen were greasy and the the bucket for ice was kept in the bathroom. Having 3 beds was nice given that there were 6 of us. Had no idea how to use the A/C but fortunately we had our own fan we brought with us. The parking spots were very narrow. The sockets were loose and plugs would fall out if you werent very delicate with them.
Very nice, old fashioned-style room with comfortable beds and pillows. Accomodating and friendly staff throughout check in/out process. Breakfast was muffins, croissants, and coffee - just enough to get us going for the day. On a final note, the hotel was conveniently located just a 30 minute walk from Alcatraz cruise takeoff (Pier 33). Affordably priced for a double room - highly recommend for Alcatraz travelers! :D
I love how it feels so homie. The place had a kitchen with pots and dishes to cook. The wall paper reminds me of a 60s home. And the staff was super nice and welcoming. If youre looking for some luxurious Hilton type place this wont be it but it is well kept and very clean.
Old, worn out rooms, with original fixtures from decades ago. Dirty floors, dirty tile. Had to ask for another room! Shower handle broken off, couldnt regulate temp. Hair stuck on bathroom walls from past customers! No one has done anything to this place, since it first opened! And this was cheap at $170. a night? We really felt we were ripped off!!!
Im writing this because Jonah at the front desk deserves 5 stars. Jonah was helpful, nice and just a pleasure. He is the kind of person that will bring return customers to this Inn.Our room adequate (3 beds) & clean. Could use some updates. Location was great! We walked down to the Marina & did the Farmers Market.
We stayed at the Pacific heights inn for one night on a Monday night, I didnt have much in the way of expectations for the room but I wasnt prepared for so little either. A bed, a small TV, and a very small room. The worst part of the whole experience was how paper thin all of the walls were! I could hear everything from my neighbors and I could hear EVERYTHING from outside my door! My gf booked it seeing the 3 stars, but I definitely think this place is a 2 star joint.
Friendly service, great location, and reasonable price. Only thing I would like is if the room had its own water heater/coffee pot, as ours was just plain desk, bed, and shower. The location is safe though, and with free overnight parking most small things can be overlooked.
If I could rate them -5 , definitely I would get them! Down stair rooms are awful! I already in my room, #8 next to stairs! From 4 oclock in the morning, on top of my room is like a moving sounds! Every morning is like this! Walking like a big foot guy and pushing pulling the chairs and table by purpose constantly! I think there is a angry ghosts live up there! And during a day construction noises will kill you! If you need a quite place to rest, definitely is not here! Worse motel ever!
Typical motor inn. Free parking. Continental breakfast. WiFi was advertised, but never mentioned at check-in, and we were being tourists so we barely were in the room. Good location very close to Fishermans Wharf. About a $10 Uber/Lyft to Union Square. Staff was very nice as well. Stayed in Room 2, which has a 2nd ADA accessible bathroom, which we didnt request, but it was a nice extra space to have. Overall, a nice budget option for the city.
My girlfriend and I absolutely loved this place! Its smack dab in the middle of everything. Most things are within a 30 minute walk! And if it isnt 30 minutes walking, its 30 minutes via the bus system. (which I highly recommend you learn to use if you come here to visit!) The staff here is so helpful and incredibly nice. Shout out to Jonah and Anthony (whom youll likely meet at the front desk), you 2 are the bomb. Upon arrival we were greeted by these kind souls, we were sold on some tickets they were selling CHEAP for fun attractions downtown, and once our room was ready there was ghiradelli chocolates on our bed to enjoy. This Inn is clean and cozy, its not newly renovated, spacious, or anything spectacular. But if youre staying for a few days and just need a place to sleep that youll feel comfortable and safe in then this is for you. Most nights were very quiet, we never had any noise issues. In the mornings they do offer breakfast but be warned it is ONLY muffins, pound cake, coffee, milk, and juice. If youre looking for anything more make a run to the trader joes on bay st. or go out! All in all our stay here was delightful!
Front desk staff was very pleasant and accommodating to us. Free breakfast was nice to have every morning and location was PERFECT! Plenty of great restaurants within walking distance and a short Lyft/Uber ride from most of the places we wanted to visit (Golden Gate, Alamo Square, Alcatraz tour launch, Ferry Building, etc). If we come back to SF well definitely stay again!
Service was good, location is great and close to many restaurants. Food options are plenty but establishments close around 10pm. However it was cold during our stay in San Francisco. Rooms are outdated and including heating system some outlets worked some didnt. No iron or ironing boards in the rooms.
Super experience, 4 out of 5 stars. Great location, cant beat the price. clean rooms, great staff, enough parking (which is a must in SF) great price( $190 a night and everything around the area was over $300), close markets and tons of restaurants. overall great times. Minor critiques: weak wifi, thins walls and ceiling,Id stay there again for sure
Our visit to the Pacific Heights Inn was a very mixed bag. The motel seemed outdated for a 3-star facility, but the staff was nice and the price was right. We booked for 3 nights, but left after the 2nd night after finding a mouse in our room. The gentleman running the front desk refunded 2 of our 3 nights. Giving them 2 stars instead of 1 because they acknowledged the problem and gave at least a partial refund.
Bathroom Window to the outside could not be locked so someone could easily climb. thru. The shower door wouldnt close. The pillows were dusty and the headboard was not attached to the bed. So when I moved in i bed, the headboard banged against the wall. When I complained about these problems, the counter guy said they couldnt be fixed because there was no maintenance person on a Monday. Then two of these magically got fixed. We paid $279 plus tax for this glorious room, then heard the guy selling to someone over the phone for $149 for that night. All in all, a rich learning experience.
The Pacific Heights Inn is conveniently located at the heart of San Francisco. Several points of interest such as Lombard Street, Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39 can be reached by foot. Although the rooms were a bit outdated, they were clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the A/C in our room did not work, but given the mild weather in SF, we could bear without it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Free parking lots are offered, which was very good for us - we didnt have to pay enormous parking fees and could easily take an Uber to places we wanted to visit. The WiFi network was excellent and very fast. Even though the inn is located just off of busy Van Ness Avenue, the area was relatively quiet at night. The complimentary breakfast was satisfactory. Overall, we can recommend this inn if you are planning to stay in San Francisco for a couple of days.
We originally planned to stay around the corner at the Da Vinci, but the guy at the front desk was pretentious and unhelpful. Googled around our location and came here instead. David was welcoming and showed us the rooms before we decided to stay. The only very slight downside was tripping the breaker from too much power draw. E.g. the rooms were chilly and they gave us 2 portable heaters, and us having a lot of phone chargers and some lights on then turning on the hair dryer caused a blackout. Overall no real complaints - oh yeah the Pacific Heights Inn Liquor/Grocery wasnt open for business yet, but plenty of other places nearby are.
This is not on par with a Motel 6. Just 2 notches above a rent by the hour joint. We stayed here only because it was the only room available within 20 miles! Even the Mark Hopkins was full.Next time well plan better. I hope this review will encourage you to do the same.
Pacific Heights Inn is a clean, comfortable place to stay if youre planning to spend most of your time in San Francisco out in the city instead of hanging around the hotel. The decor is dated and the Continental breakfast doesnt quite live up to its name, but the beds are comfortable and the area quiet. Definitely a good choice for a home base while visiting SF on an budget.
Comfortable quiet hotel in a pleasant neighborhood. Nice staff and reasonable price including breakfast. A nice neighborhood with local restaurants and shop and not far to walk to ghiradelli square, yet an easy location to get to downtown meeting with a convenient bus stop at the corner.
Comfortable budget accomodation in Pacific Heights. Location has easy access to all San Francisco tourists sites with bus stops located on the street corner. Friendly staff are helpful, WiFi unreliable, rooms need updating, breakfast provided in the morning, but still a great budget place to stay in San Franciscos high priced accomodation market.
There was a mouse in the room.I told the front desk and the guy said oh, what do you want to do. Do you want to change rooms? I’m not sure if he was expecting me to live with the mouse. Then I complained on HotelTonight and asked for a refund.Shockingly, at 1.22am, the front desk calls me (on a weekday) to ask me if I want to cancel the booking for a refund because he got notice from hotel tonight. I have no idea what he was thinking calling someone’s room at this hour. Also, the towel in the room had disgusting stains on it. Photos attached
The Pacific Heights Inn is located in a good area if Chinatown and pier 39 are on your list. There is a ton of good food right around that you can walk to and if you want to call a rideshare the there is a good pull up space for them out front. Overall I would gladly recomend.
Booked was a room for 5 people. Beds were only two there. After a long discussion, we have still bought air mattresses. It is not really clean and the decor is dated. It smokes and in the evening there is no more parking. Service is poor. The trash cans will not be collected and toilet paper will not be refilled. At breakfast there is very little, so it is empty quickly.
If you are satisfied with the essential ... it is good! Breakfast included in the room: there is practically the buffet in the reception (just spacious, with a table and 4 chairs): you take the tray, you take what you want (muffin, cake, coffee and juice). Too bad there is only one chair in the room. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.
The hotel impresses with its location. Pier 39 is within walking distance. Parking is available in a limited extent. If you get there early enough, you also get one. The breakfast consists of muffins and croissants. The room we had was small. We had to close the suitcases again and again to the side. With the prices in San Francisco, the hotel is still cheap. Location and free parking justify the three stars!
Was that 2 times in the hotel first time in 2010 5 days now 3 days in 2018, has hardly changed. I have to say I always had the large room. There is plenty of space. Rooms are clean. There was a smell of detergent / disinfectant. The bathroom is not modern but fulfills its purpose.Breakfast is “continental” mufins, café orange juice. Sometimes croissants. But there is always enough to start the day.Parking is great. Right in front of the room when you are downstairs. Accessibility TOP. When you are there you can get everywhere by bus. Less than 100 meters there is a bus in all directions. Location therefore also great. If San Francisco then here again.
Your boss is Korean. Thank you for being kind and you can have bread and coffee in the morning. The facility also feels like an American motel that can sleep plainly. I just felt a little worried about the windows. If I try to break it, I think I can come right in. It would be better to have a steel window.

2022-04-25This hotel is in the perfect area of San Francisco. The owner is friendly and the room was extremely clean. We had plenty of space for everything. This is also the rare hotel room with 3 beds in the room we stayed in. Highly recommend it. Also, it is within walking distance of Russian Hill, so food is easily within reach after checking in to wind down.

2022-01-03Positive: Location was close to the Muni stop (Union - Van Ness) and within driving distance to all major attractions within the city. Parking was free but might get a bit tight for a large car. There was no breakfast despite being advertised on the site. Negative: No breakfast, tea/coffee maker in the room. Also, had to ask for a microwave and iron during check-in. Owner was most gracious to provide both as well as an electric kettle to brew our tea in the room.

2021-12-23Pros: Nice location and good price for value. It had a microwave and mini fridge, which was very convenient for breakfast. Friendly staff.Cons: the first night our toilet wasnt working and the room lacked illumination.

2021-09-29I had seen so many great reviews so thought we really found a gem here. Now that its too late, maybe it can help someone else. I had seen many reviews mention a fridge, microwave, and/or even a stove? Our room not only had none of those but also no a/c. At all. And it does get very warm in there. There were 2 box fans to use. Seriously. 2 box fans that we had to put on chairs and arrange in a way to even feel since they were too low to hit above the legs of the bed. We had a long trip to get here, and it was late, so we didnt notice at first but going to bed our comforter had a huge red stain on it. Like no way it could have been missed but they still really put it on and folded in a way thinking we wouldnt notice I guess? I removed from the bed and reached the front desk and they did get it replaced pretty fast the next day. The walls are extremely thin, we heard alot of noise and talking from the people around us so we knew we had to keep it down as much as possible. There was no access to water other than from the faucets. We had to go across the street to buy bottled water. The shower had no room to keep soaps or towels but the temperature and pressure was great so I will say that. It wasnt entirely bad. The bed was comfortable. The free parking was a huge plus. It really is located right in the middle of everything. 30 min to GG Bridge, 10-15 minutes to Fishermans Wharf / Pier 39 / Ferry building, right around the corner from Chinatown. So if youre here for tourist things, the location is perfect. Just be aware, the cost is so low because of what youre giving up. So if you want bare bones amenities but great location and free parking then youll be fine. If I were you, confirm your room has the extra stuff, youll be glad you did.

2021-10-16Love this place! Very nice rooms. Some are small but others have a big main room (bed and living space) and a separate bed room area (some what small but perfect for kids or two couple who want privacy)

2021-06-16Outside may be deceiving. However.... don’t be fooled! Mark my words.... the room exceeded my expectations by 10000%, and it is not easy to impress me. Staff was remarkable and welcoming, the man at the desk was more than amazing and helpful. I wish I could stay longer but my two spouses need me back home. Highly recommend!
