Mark responded promptly to my request for an estimate to repair my dining table. He came prepared and was able to disassemble the damaged leg and transport it back to his shop for repair. He completed the repair job in a short few days and came back and reassembled our treasured table today.Mark is old school, honest and hardworking. He did a very good job and I recommend him for furniture repair work.
Dont bother...Awful and Rude!!!Called for an estimate. Ot home service fee for an estimate is $120. Or told me to bring furniture in to the shop for free estimate. Said no time to look at photos. And too busy for charity.Since when a potential paying customer is viewed as charity? Do not waste your time with this business.
I found an old Secretaire in a yard sale, it was in such bad state that I got it for free. I was not sure if it was worth even trying to repair, but I liked its shape, and from online researches it looked it could well be more than 100 years old, so I looked for furniture repair. I found OM and talked to Mark about it. We made a deal and picked it up two months later, completely repaired as agreed, and looking gorgeous! Reasonable prices too.
I have an antique ladys upholstered swivel/rocker chair that was my mothers. The straps in the seat were broken, and the seat cushion needed to be re-stuffed. Meyer came out the same day I called to look at the chair and give me an estimate. Instead of replacing the seat straps, he recommended inserting plywood in the seat. His price was fair. He finished the repairs quickly--within a few days. He did a good job. The chair looks good and is very sturdy. Hes very nice and skillful.
Mark did a fabulous job repairing my dining table leg that had been very poorly installed initially when I engaged with an earlier handyman who botched things up. Mark came over a few days ago, gave me an estimate and said it could take upto two weeks to repair it. To my delight he was able to come back much sooner ( in 4 days ) and fix the table leg. He did a wonderful job, is a thorough professional and is a straight shooter with a great sense of humor :). Thank you Mark and OM furniture!
I live 2 minutes driving away from this guys shop. He said its $120 to look at my couch and give a cost estimate. Not clear about pricing, it could cost $1000s, he couldnt say otherwise. Its a waste if money if he cant be clear about anything or spend 5 minutes to tell me. I would advise not wasting your time calling him.
My large Southern Motion red electro-mechanical sofas moveable headrest suddenly stopped working. It appeared the arm that moves the headrest forward and back was out of kilter because we could see the bulge the arm made in the back of the leather back, protruding an inch out of sofas back. We were afraid that soon it will make a hole in the leather back, because the protrusion was taut. It was difficult to find a specialist who knew how to work with these mechanisms. Mark O. was recommended to us by a furniture store, so we called him. He drove to Marin Co. from San Jose (and also has a shop in Sacramento) the same day I called him. He said to give him 2 weeks, but he called me the next day - today - and said the sofa was repaired. He got here at 7:30PM and indeed the sofa was perfect again. Also gave me some touch-up paint our sofas color - and a pen knife as a small gift. In one day! Wow!
I had bought an used L-shaped sofa (dont know the term for it) on Craigslist 2 months ago. It seemed to be in pretty good condition till a month back when I realized that the piece of sofa that can be pulled out to form a bed had a broken load-bearing beam. I tried to repair it myself without success. So I came across Marks name when I googled for furniture repair near me. Based on my limited interactions with him, he seemed like a no-nonsense kind of person (not someone Ill engage in small-talk). The rate he charged me for this job seemed a bit high to me (more than twice the original amount I paid for the sofa). But Im new to the Bay area and dont really have a good reference point for comparison. He took 2 weeks for the job. I have tested the piece for a week now before writing this review. He seems to have done a good job. He has strengthened the beam and it is no longer buckling under my weight (I weigh quite a lot).
I bought a beautiful antique oak table and chairs, and it all needed to be refinished. There were gouges in the wood and I was afraid that it couldn’t be repaired. Meyer came and picked it up, and returned it beautifully refinished. Poor guy had to haul it up two flights of stairs. I’m grateful for his gift of loving precious furniture back to life. Thank you Meyer!
I wasn’t sure what to make of Mark at first. His introduction was awkward and I didn’t immediately make the connection with my Home Advisor request. But once I figured it out Mark was wonderful. He called me back to schedule a time that accommodated my complicated schedule exactly when he said he would - not once but three times. And when the agreed upon time arrived, he arrived. The plan was that he would come look at the big antique linen press (think armoire) which has a heavy door with a 7’ tall beveled glass mirror on it and give me an estimate of the cost to repair its hinge for a $100 trip charge which would be applied to the cost of the repair if he did the job. Instead, in 2 hours, starting at 6:00 pm, he repaired the stripped out screw holes, made new screws, and did so in such a way that there is no visible sign of the damage that had been done. His willingness to work well into the evening saved me from scheduling a second visit.Mark is a true gentleman and a master craftsman. I highly recommend him.
Called asking if they could fix my furniture, was told no and when asked if they could recommend a company that can, was given the snarky reply of “google search”This place has terrible business etiquette and I’m lucky they can’t repair my furniture. What a nightmare it would have been if I had to deal with them and only gotten snarky responses.Transcript:“Do you know a place that can repair my furniture?”“Yes.”“Ok, what is their name?”“Google search”Wow thanks, didn’t think of doing that before calling at all......
When I contacted OM Furniture, we scheduled a visit to estimate the refinishing of my 2 items but it wasnt until the day of our appointment that I was informed that a $100 fee would be charged IN CASH for this estimate. I consider this an unfair business practice.I asked for an hourly rate, and was told there isnt one. Well, let me break this down for OM Furniture (and anyone else who is thinking about falling for this scheme). The 16hrs it would take you to sand and stain my two items, divided by the $6k estimate is $375 per hour. So buyers beware, if you are not in the market to pay $375 per hour for furniture repair - keep your $100 estimate fee and your time.
Meyer did a great job with the armoire that was damaged during transportation. He crafted and carved a missing decorative piece as well as repaired the door hinge on fragile mirror door. He knows his trade and his communication was great, plus he completed the job promptly.
After we put the request to have our La-Z-Boy repaired, Mark called me before I even exited Home Adviser’s website. He took the assignment and was over within a few hours and had the problem solved within another hour!Very professional and fast! I’d recommend him to anyone.
I have a very unique antique sewing table that had over 50 years of abuse. It looked so damage I almost threw it away. These folks did such an outstanding job of restoring, I now place this beautiful table not in the corner where it was, but in a place it can be noticed right away. Thank you folks for an awesome job.
I had a lovely black vinyl chair my grandfather purchased in the late 60s from a furniture store in Berkeley. Unfortunately, between wear and tear and poor storage, I thought it was done in. Meyer reupholstered the chair to a better-than-new state. I couldnt be happier.

2022-08-07Mark did a great job re-canning the backs of 3 of my grandmothers dinning chairs which I am going to send to my daughter who has moved to North Carolina and needs a dinning room set.. The three chairs he repaired now look like the other 5 chairs in the set. He did this for a reasonable fee and got it done about 3 weeks earlier than the estimate and delivered them to our house on a Saturday evening. Great service.

2022-06-24Mark did a great job replacing the cane seat on our 1930es armchair. It looks beautiful. He also reupholstered the seat cushion that belonged to the chair, replacing the foam. The job was done in a timely fashion and mark delivered the chair to our house. We would recommendhim and use him again.MSL

2022-05-28I had a small repair and had a very nice experience with timely communication and interaction, despite the small financial size of the transaction. OM beat the turnaround time that was quoted to me to complete the repair. I would not hesitate to call back OM for a larger job.

2022-07-16Mark did a fabulous job on repairing my very special antique table. He also was very responsive about returning calls, coming to my house to look at the table and ultimately returning it after he was finished.

2022-02-25Mark at OM just refinished a vintage teak nighttable that was heavily water-damaged. It looks brand new, the finish and color are just perfect. He is an artisan, has 25 years experience, and is a very nice person.Very easy to work with him. I am immensely pleased with his work and recommend him highly for refinishing of your treasured pieces. Will certainly use him again. Thanks, Mark( Meyer.)

2022-03-23Do not waste your time. I was shocked at how rude and unhelpful the owner of this business was.I called to make an appointment for an estimate. I had read about the fee, and we were perfectly willing to pay $120 for an estimate. I understand that this takes time. However, the person who answered the phone would not even schedule an appointment. He said, “I am very busy. You will have to call again next week or the week after.” I said I was willing to wait and asked if I could at least get on the schedule. “No. I am very busy.” He then ended the call. With that kind of attitude, and complete lack of customer service, I am surprised that he is busy. I do not need to waste my time or energy and am going to find someone who actually values me as a customer and wants my business.

2022-05-28Great quality of work. We were really happy with how our two mid-century armchairs turned out. We’ll be working with him again in the future whenever we need furniture redone
