2021-07-07Amazing cave to explore in Lava Beds National Monument! The National Park Service has really done well with lighting up walkways and adding cool boards every few feet explaining all about the cave and life formations. Note that it does get cold the further down you go, so be sure to use gloves when holding the rails at the bottom.

2022-04-01Great cave to start with before you head to the more difficult ones.Helmets should be worn as good practice.

2018-03-29Well-lit cave with plenty of information about the history of lava tubes and how they were formed. A great place to start exploring the park!

2021-05-31As others have said, an easy starter cave to learn some of the science, get a sense of what the caves are like, and check out a cave if you won’t be going to many others. It’s pretty crowded because likely everyone coming through the park goes there, and it’s one-way, so there are some traffic jams. There are stairs to the walkway through the cave, so it’s not accessible.

2021-07-06This cave has lights and a solid path, so its possible to visit it without any extra gear. There are good information signs explaining how the lava tubes formed.

2019-11-14If youre not comfortable with caving and youre in Lava Beds, this cave and Skull Cave are the best to see. Mushpot Cave is well-lit and has many info plaques that describe the formations. The path is easy to follow and there is only one section that requires any ducking or maneuvering. Its very close to the campground and visitors center, which makes it very accessible.

2017-06-15Paved, well-lit cave requires a bit of stooping here and there. My 1-and-a-half year old walked all the way, so almost anybody could do it! We were in and out in 10-15 minutes.

2018-07-24A good cave to start the trip, getting familiar with the cave experience. Hit my head just a few steps into the cave, because the eyes havent adjusted to the cave light.
