Awesome hike. Not to long and not yo steep. Wouldn’t take smaller kids probably to hard unless they are pretty active. So many different ways to the top and great views when you get to the top.
My review is for the dog park. Its smaller than some but wonderful. Its in a quiet residential area and the people at the park were all very friendly. The dogs were ask very well behaved too. Its very clean, enclosed small and large dog sides, and benches for the humans. There is also a water fountain for dogs and humans too. There are no poop bag though so please bring your own.
Everyone there is friendly and dogs behave well, too! There are two areas, one for larger dogs and the other for smaller dogs. Plenty of room to run! 🐕🦮
This is a hard trail if you dont do hiking. Went with my family 2nd time hiking for me so It was hard for me to do but Made It To The Top. 3:04 hours thats the time we made . Also known as Rock house trail.

Great brisk walk up the mountain. Not good for pets because there is a lot of prickly stems that get on their paws. Other than that there is plenty of parking and there is a beautiful view. If you are looking for a good hike where you will not have to wait on crowds and lines. This is a great place.

Mother Miguel trail looking East. Beautiful hike but go early and pack lots of water when its warm, this trail has little to no shade.
Busy as expected in a Saturday morning in baseball/ softball season. Extra parking on the streets. Access to Mount Miguel Mountain Trail 👏👏👏. Not 5 stars because the restroom does not have doors in the installs. There must be a reason though.

This was a great trail system in San Diego. It gave us gorgeous views of the city and the ocean.
Awesome experice. The trails are awesome you can keep going and going and some of them connect but you definately feel the workout. Is not that crowded so its amazing to wander.

We came here for a softball tournament and it was nice!! Except there are no doors or coverings in the public restrooms?!?!?!?!You basically just have to do your business right there in front of everyone that walks in, which in my case was a mother and a few small children who didnt know it isnt polite to STARE at someone peeing....so I had a little audience!
Moderate hike. Would not recommend if you have bad back or knee. Trail is clearly marked, but still has several options. Saw some dogs on the trail. Kids as young as 8 will do well. Bring plenty of water and a hiking stick! Good shoes/ hiking boots are a must! Stunning views at half way point and peak!

Skip Cowles- this is South Bay version of Cowles. Mother Miguel is a local version of Cowles-- same distance and elevation, but with better views on top and larger parking on the bottom. Skip the crowds at MTRP, and hike Mother Miguel instead. The trail is also doable on a MTB, but decent climbing skills are required.
First time hiking this trail as long as Ive been in san diego. If youve hiked potato chip rock or been to the mountain in Julian this is a cake walk. The only difference is that it is more steep than others. What actual hiking boots for this one Id suggest. Breathe taking views on the flatter surfaces!

Lots of room, grass, and shade for dogs to play. People and their dogs are friendly.
Easy hike. About 3.5 miles total when I hike it, however its supposed to be 4.3 miles if you follow the right path.
Very clean area. I thoroughly enjoyed the courts here.
Outfield has lots of bumps and potholes. Infield is well maintained. Bathrooms are abhorrent and unacceptable. Honey buckets would be an improvement. Fine for playing games, but not special.
Plenty of parking on a weekday. Nice & quiet dog park with small & large sections. Follow the trail UP the mountain but bring water & a hat. Not as steep as Cowles Mt. But worth the climb. Well maintained path, not very crowded at all. Hit the road & get out!
Well maintained but small. Not enough shade in the sitting area. Water fountain doesnt work so be sure to bring enough for you and the dog.
The perfect level of difficulty. I love the feeling of accomplishment when I finish. The views are gorgeous.

Its a great place for families including their dogs to be together and enjoy each others company, play a sport, get some sun, run the jogging trail, walk, hike or bike the many trails outside the park. There is even a dog park!After all that stuff you can have a family picnic as there are grassy areas and some covered picnic tables.During sporting events, there is a snack bar.Bathrooms are reasonably close and clean.There is ample parking both in the park and on the street. People stage here for trail running, walking, hiking and mountain biking as the trails are extensive.My opinion regarding the dog park. It needs shade trees. It does get warm and sunny here. If you are bringing your pet, morning or late evenings are best. Otherwise plan to provide shade for your pets if you are going to do family stuff.
A great location for a morning hike. Minus one 🌟 for trail maintenance but I also recognize that its due to the high volume of traffic and people not staying on the marked path.Overall a great hike with a great view.
Great mountain for an easy hike.
Very nice & clean multi use open space park. The area is landscaped in native flora. There are paved sidewalks good for walking, riding, running a lap or two. Many visitors had their dog on leash. There is a concessionbstand with restrooms.
Lovely hike, can see Mexico from the peak. Parking is in the housing addition on the street. Lots of incline and switchbacks.
Great place to access the trail. Not a huge fan of hiking but the trail is really easy and gets you out of the house

Fairly easy hike. Plan a few hours to go up and come down, especially in the warmer months when temps can easily reach the high 70s or low 80s by late morning.Its dusty, exposed to the sun and somewat steep at points so bring water and a brimmed hat.

This is a really well maintained park that has access to Mother Miguel Mountain if youre into hiking. The only con is that the bathrooms dont have doors on the stalls but I guess that encourages people to make good choices and not vandalize.
This rating is based on softball field experience only. The fields are nice and generally well-maintained. However, there is not much shade or covered dugouts so if youre going to be here all day bring your own shade. There is also space for a concession stand, but its not always open. Bring your own water and snacks.
Good for an easy trail for hike, trail run or bike
Awesome trail! They just re-routed the trail so people don’t use the overused super steep middle. Great views and great workout. Very serene. Not overcrowded.
Good hike, about as long and steep as Cowles Mtn. But too many people without masks on weekends. I counted 60 cars last Sunday morning. And little shade is available.
Great location to take my kids after school
Next to no shade so come prepared. At least they finally fixed the water fountains so they work again. The baseball fields are ok and its nice they have a concessions stand. Parking can be tough during the weekends.

The only reason they lose a star in my opinion has to do with the new trail. Its not challenging anymore. But its great for beginners that want to start hiking.
Ive taken my child taken my child there regularly over the .last six years, and it is well maintained. There is plenty of parking, seating, and athletic fields. Lighting is great in the evenings, and we enjoy playing tennis at the available court
Many semi flat and uphill trails to enjoy! This trail connects with Sweetwater park and up to all the awesome hills around. You can get a really nice work out here
Nice place with a decent amount of baseball fields with fences, dog park near by but people still bring their dogs on the baseball fields and leave the fecal matter in the grass
Beautiful park with 4 fields circling stands and a snack shop. Also, has flood lights.Real big downside is that there is no shade of any sort even for the players in the dugout. Further, there is no protection from foul balls for fans. You could be sitting and watching your game and you could easily have a foul ball from the field behind you land on you.

Great Trails, Awesome Views...
I had a great experience with my loan processor Tracey Carter. Tracey took over the processing of my loan after I filled out the initial application with Adam Goodman. Tracey walked me through the process from the beginning to the end. On the day the Notary showed up so my wife and I could sign our final papers there was a couple of minor mistakes with my wife’s name but I called Tracey and she was able to get a correction on my wife’s name so, we could finish the process. Thank’s again Tracey for all of your hard work.
Great park. The shade is lacking though, as there are only small trees and a couple of structures. Still, good for hiking, running, baseball, playground, etc.Sometimes gets a little messy after a busy weekend.
There was a guy with a large aggressive dog in the large dog section forcing all the other dog owners with big dogs to either leave or put their dog in the small dog section. Very inconsiderate!!!

As far as the dog park, this is another great place to take your little pooch to socialize with other little pooches and their owners. The dog park is broken up into two sections. One section for the smaller dogs and another for the larger ones.

The park needs more shade, especially in the dugouts. It can get very warm here and there is hardly a spot of shade to be found. Players should be able to get out of the glaring sun while on the bench.
Mount San Miguel this is one of the park nices parks on the west Coast, all city workers work so hard to keep it nice and clean. they are dog friendly off leash in the dog park on the leash through out the park. Less crowded trail. Ample parking. Dog owners pickup your own dog droppings !
Looks nice. I tried to get there but( MAPS ) was messed up then I tried again and the toll road did not register my cash. And I also got lost because MAPS was still messed up and I paid the toll. So today I will try again and use my new Phone to navigate and the toll better register cause those tickets arent cheap.

Well maintained, walking trails, starting point to Rockhouse hiking trail (behind the park towards the mountains), nice folk with their doggies, skill developing playground for kids, good softball/baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, clean restrooms, water fountains, dog park, plenty of parking....oh and a good view of San Diego from a southern perspective all the way to Tijuana.
San Miguel Ranch is a great place to hike, run, ride your bike, play ball or walk your dog. You will love the views!!!
First time there. Reached the summit at night and the view was amazing. I recommend this to anyone thinking of going there.

2022-05-26Went up the trail switch backs excellent, elevation last 20 minutes, 10 minutes from my house. Great 360 views. Good 1h 50 minute work out. Love this trail.

2020-09-08Like taking this hike just make sure its on one of those off days. Parking was full on the street. Went on a Sunday morning, so did everyone else. Came down the back way much less crowded and adds about 1 1/2 to 2 miles more.

2021-01-25No need to drive to Iron Head or Potato Chip. This place has everything youve been looking for. Best view of the bay, San Diego proper and associated burroughs. Great place to get your bearings.

2019-09-22Great outdoor park with plenty of spaces for picnics and outdoor activities. Bring the whole family. Nestled right next to rockhouse trails you can even go for a nice nature walk. Bring your dogs ON A LEASH. watch a baseball /softball game and enjoy the outdoor space! Nicely maintained. Respect it dont neglect it.
