We love McKinley Park! It is a stately, old park with plenty of beautiful trees and handsome brick buildings, including a very cool library and meeting center. We have run the perimeter of the park on numerous occasions, along with our training group, Runnin for Rhett. There are plenty of tennis courts, a large play area for the kids and lots of space to just hang out.We also love the pond area where we can watch lots of ducks and other birds. Probably the most beautiful part of the park is the rose garden when it is in full bloom. It is gorgeous! And this park is located in one of the most iconic neighborhoods of Sacramento. My wife and I love all of the unique homes!McKinley park really is special!
The children love it here - 2 and 4 years old. We start by walking around the pond, maybe watch someone feeding the ducks, pigeons, and geese (no bread!). She enjoys chasing squirrels, and he likes to pick daisies. We finish off by running up and down the play structures and sliding and swinging. The merry-go-round is a favorite.
The city of Sacramento did a marvellous job. Now I’m not from Sac but I love going around and seeing what each city is doing for their community. This park was just amazing seeing so many people and it’s very diverse. My kids loved seeing so many options of entertainment on the playground and obstacle courses. Also the children are all friendly and it’s very easy for your child to find other children to play with. Once again great work city of Sacramento.
Giant park. There is a large walking trail, pond with friendly ducks, a pool (open in the summer), and a tennis court. There is also a library, basketball court, pre-k school, rose garden, and one of the biggest playgrounds in Sacramento. They have updated bathrooms in part of the park and baseball field. They recently replaced part of the open field. Highly recommend
Huge playground, nice duck pond, tennis courts, basketball courts, bathrooms, fairly friendly Canadian geese, squirrels everywhere, picnic tables... This is one of the best parks Ive been to in Sacramento. Ive been here a few times (nowhere near where I live) and Im sure Ill be back!
Love this Park! Definitely a gem of Sacramento. Lots of time and effort well spent on the restructuring and repair of the pond. It looks wonderful. In the spring enjoy the rose and flower garden while sitting on a clean bench or walk the lovely manicured grass path. Volunteer for garden help as an opportunity for community involvement
This is where I find total relaxation in McKinley Park filled with the sounds of the ducks, geese and birds. This park has a rose garden a jogging track, swimming pool, a clubhouse for special events and a library it also my best attraction is the duck pond which was resently clean. This is a very clean park but there is a new rule I dont like is you cant feed the wildlife anymore but theres a reason for that too. All in all this is a very nice park I been coming here about 20 yrs and I havent been disappointed yet.. Bring the kids here they will love it..
One of my favorite parks in Sacramento. Big enough to jog around (its about 1 mile all the way around) with lots of tennis courts to hammer out your ground strokes. Space for gatherings large and small make McKinley Park a great weekend spot. The McKinley Rose Garden is also located here and one of Sacramentos many floral gems.Looking forward to the completion of the water vault project so that McKinley Park can return to its full splendor!
I always feel centered after a walk at McKinley Park. The trees shade a lot of the path and the geese, squirrels and birds are fun to watch. There is a fun park for kids to play in, public pool and garden event center. Stop one smell the roses in the Rose Garden! It’s favorite place to walk in Sacramento!
Great for the kiddos. My 2 year old loved this park! He was able to play on the big kids side. I was able to run around the actual play structure with him. It is very user friendly. Theyve got a huge pond with ducks to visit and a nice shaded trail to run or walk. Theres a bathroom and picnic tables. Beware there is some construction going on nearby so limited parking depending on the time you arrive
Lovely park. Very large. Kid-friendly. Just be aware of your surroundings in any park. Some homeless since it isnt far from a homeless encampment, but Ive never had a problem. Check out the rose garden located on the H St side. Its beautiful, so please help keep it that way. NO picking, and stay on the trail. Great area to sit, and to take photos. The flowers make a great backdrop for pics.
After or before a nice meal at the orphan. I like to head on over here to McKinley Park and enjoy the Rose Gardens. I don’t know what it is but I love the rose gardens and every big city. And Sacramento California has one of the best. Sad to say but it’s even better than the one they grew up with in San Jose California. But I’m proud of my rose garden now
McKinley park is a beautiful park, its my first time that I go. But needs more cleaning. Lot of trash in the floor and rats. With a better maintenance the park will look beautiful. Need signs that can say PLEASE KEEP PARK CLEAN for people to see it, and help keep it clean. And clean environment. 🙂
Such a nice park. Great for walking around. There are ducks and geese hanging around and swimming in the pond. There is a kids play area and a rose garden on the other side. Stays pretty clean and is good for a family outing. So grab a blanket or sit at a table or bench and have a picnic and relax.
The rose garden is a wonder of beautiful flowers. There are rows and rows with interspersed benches to provide enough privacy to enjoy some alone time with the beauty of all kinds of roses. The last time I was there someone was filming a music video of some kind in one part, another group was getting ready to have some kind of event- setting up chairs. Several other pairs and trios walking and sitting etc enjoying the breeze and the day did so with leisure.I found a nice partially shaded bench and took in the early afternoon very pleasantly.
McKinley park is amazing and it always has been since I can remember. I love the rose garden and the pond, the playground is great and they are making some improvements right now! Excited to see how that turns out. Fun for people of all ages, something for everyone. Tons of pokestops and some gyms and nomally good pokemon. I Love McKinley park. I am a big fan.
The park and playground itself was really nice and lots to do in it. It was also closed off for the most part so kids couldnt escape . Great area for both toddlers and big kids but the bathrooms were disgusting. There wasnt any soap or toilet paper and it smelled terrible.
This is a wonderful park, playground, rose garden, pond, and tons of open space for picnics. This used to be regular place for us to go for pictures or just to let my daughter chase the ducks and squirrels. Lots of families using this area daily so its easy for the kids to meet and keep friends.
Great park with a walking loop that is exactly a mile. Lots of friendly walkers, some with kids or dogs. Different sections throughout the park so there is something for everyone. A pond with ducks, geese, and turtles, tennis courts, kids play area, and the library. Also the rose garden is always beautiful, but especially when they are all in full bloom. Many people take pictures in the rose garden.
Cool little park located behind the rose garden, just passed the pond. I would not advise visiting here on a extremely hot day because the playground got so hot it burned the kids while trying to go down the slide. Some sun shades could really do this place wonders. On a cloudy day, this place is wonderful. A walk around the pond behind the park is nice as long as you dont step in geese poo. I also saw a covered picnic area and basketball court.
Nice park, pool, library, etc... located in a nice surrounding area. Not everybody is wearing masks but thats a problem everywhere. Clunie Pool which is operated by the City and located in the park is always up to par and cleaned properly. A lifeguard by the name of Linda who works at Clunie this summer is always pleasantly kind with a very joyful disposition. She seems to really enjoy her job with the City. Just keep in mind that if you want to use the pool that you have to pay and reserve a space online prior to going. Things have changed a bit due to covid19. Overall, McKinley Is a great place to exercise, just go relax or take the kids. It also has a lot of shade.
Stopped by while waiting for someones Dr. appt to finish. Beautiful . Park was real nice. Had a pond with geese and ducks and turtles and a really cool playground area. There was also a huge swimming pool. Unfortunately, it was closed so I dont know if it was public pool or just used for schools or something. I will definitely go back to this place if Im in the neighborhood again!
A beautiful park in the middle of one of Sacramentos oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods. One of the things that I like best is to watch the ducks 🦆 in the lake and surrounding areas. It has a walking/jogging path around the outer edge, a beautiful rose garden, tennis courts and plenty of other amenities. Its such a beautiful, relaxing and peaceful park that you can spend all day there and feel as if you were on a two week vacation!
Always enjoy coming to this park, plenty of room to walk along trees and shaded areas, benches all around to sit at if you want. There is also a public library and pool on site, along with a newly updated and large childrens playground. There are also tennis and basketball courts if you are looking to play either of those. As well as a baseball field and a fairly popular rose garden. Just need to finish all the construction and it will be back to five stars.
Its still a lovely park, even with construction going on! The playground is nice. There is a lot of space to play games, run around and do lot of things. Plus there are lots of fast food places and little family owned restaurants! There is also a safeway two or three blocks down the street and beat yet there are two or three hospital in a 1 to 3 mile radius. Your safe, can eat good or go shop for some hot dogs and burgers to make it a old family get together!
We rented this beautiful garden for my daughters wedding in October of 2020. I was shocked how affordable it was. No comparison to the cost of other venues. The garden was gorgeous! We barely had to add any decoration because nature was so on display. It was absolutely beautiful. Lisa, our point person, was amazing! She was very accommodating before, during, and after our event. She was present in the background all day long to help out with anything needed. She is lots of fun also. I would recommend this venue for any event. #satisfiedcustomerforsure
McKinley is a runners delight! This park is exactly 1 mile around and despite the heat in the summer, it maintains a cooler micro climate with all its trees. Beware the geese on the southwest side, especially with their young nearby in Spring. Downside: tons of people and sparse parking.
Busy park with a huge playground for kids of all ages. My son loves this place! Also theres a nice pond and lots of walk paths for running or walking a dog. There is a beautiful rose garden on the other side of park as well. The playground is located right next to the library. A little tough to find parking sometimes since its downtown.
Clean playground with lots for kids to do. The play structure is massive with lots of different elements to keep kids entertained. Only downside is that the play structure is so large and tall a parent cannot just sit in one place to monitor children and the fact that there are multiple access points to outside the playground I felt the need to constantly follow around for safety as there were several homeless/transients very close.Enjoyed the pond as well and children enjoyed watching the geese and ducks.
Such a great playground in a beautiful park. Unfortunately, the homeless problem in town is spilling over too far; homeless people are walking THROUGH the playground around playing children, and many of them sit directly around the playground just staring. Really unsettling. Its becoming less and less safe.
I use to live in midtown for over 26yrs . Never had problems at this park or just midtown alone! But now homeless are everywhere . Homeless man followed me and my daughter and kept asking for my number. This is the second time a homeless man has followed us! Definitely not safe place for women and kids!
Beautiful park, but half of it is being ruined by the sewage tanks they are putting in. It was so much better 3 years ago, but its still a fantastic park. They have a pond, a huge wooden jungle gym for the kids, tennis courts, a basketball court, a rose garden, and ample outdoor space. Its a really big park that you should definitely check out.

2022-05-03The rose garden here is beautiful! And I heard it was all volunteer created? Dont quote me on that. But it was really nice to spend 15 minutes here to start the day

2021-08-24McKinley Park is my favorite park in the area. It is safe and there are often lots of people at the park. The rose garden is absolutely beautiful and there are lots of benches to sit down and enjoy a snack or read a book. The pond does have a lot of geese, but they usually get out of your way if you get too close. They can be aggressive.

2022-02-28Good but too crowded to go. The sandbox is mini-mini, the carusel is for big kids only since small ones could be easily hurt with all kicking and swirling around. Nice park although. Ducks, a lot of green grass, nice picnic zone.

2021-10-01This is by far my kids and myself new favorite Park they love this part because of all the different obstacles to climb on and different sized monkey bars to enjoy for my younger son as well as my older daughter theres different heights 2 experience different slides its definitely unique its always busy and theres always so much fun we have no matter how many times we go there only downfall is that both bathrooms tend to be occupied a lot of the time by homeless people and by the time you get in there all the toilet papers used up theres no dry machine to dry your hands and theres never no paper Kohls but regardless of the bathroom cleanliness the park overall still is a five-star
