Absolutely fantastic food! I dont think anything comes close to how tasty and authentic really their dishes are. The staff and servers are really kind and cooperative too. Would definitely recommend a visit to anyone even if you dont think youre into Iranian cuisine, because once you eat here you definitely will be!
As great as always! Added Sabzi Polo rice to my lunch order and was an excellent addition. Their lentil soup is so tasty and its just a starter! Something I enjoy is the roasted jalapenos with the lunch specials, since spice goes so well with the food. They are meticulous when it comes to following the current situational guidelines.
A friend & I drove out from Ventura & Oxnard to try this place out. I ordered the Fresenjoon stew & he ordered the Gormeh Sabzei. We unfortunately were disappointed with the portions. The Fresenjoon seem to only have 4 smaller than ice cube pieces of chicken with sauce while we received 2 whole platters of rice. I was thinking that seemed to be very little meat for a 20 dollar dish of Fresenjoon. We wont be returning here at all.
For 6 years Maral is our absolute favorite Persian restaurant. We appreciate freshest food & fair prices! Our furniture store Fabio & Co Italia is located 5 min from Maral,so we often order lunch or dinner for delivery or to go. Owner is very hands on,always greeting us with smile. I highly recommend this business for big parties as well. We are looking forward for evenings in summer on patio with delicious Persian food & tea. Thank you,Maral Coisine !
Excellent food for dine-in or take-out. Some of the best Persian food around. Chicken and beef skewers are fantastic, as are their salads, rice, yogurt and other Persian dishes. Dining also available on outdoor tables. Wonderful owners and key employees, like Alex. They also deliver.
I come here quite often & LOVE this place. This Restaurant is one of the BEST places to dine for Delicious Persian food, & the Staff are extremely kind with wonderful attitude, and most of all the place is so clean & the portions are very generous & the owner is very accommodating.. They even offer meatless stews & mouth watering vegetarian dishes, so everyone can find something to their wish & I must admit: I love the ground-kabbob & Gheymeh badenjan ( Eggplant Stew) & Fire broiled Cornish Chicken & Grilled Salmon * the most!
Food is good ... but there is WAY too much rice. 4 cups of cooked rice for one appetizer and one entree. Stop trying to kill us... please? What Id like is a Chicken Kebab, one cup of crispy rice, and some vegetables/greens. Again, the food is really great - but, be prepared to take some rice home and make persian fried rice for a few days after eating here.
We are there yesterday and the food was amazing. We only ordered a selection of five appetizers between the two of us and they were amazing. And we still ended up with leftovers as the appetizers were hearty. Very good food and will go back to try the entrees! Everything seemed expertly prepared and was very tasty and distinct. I wish I could remember the names of some of what we ordered but the rice crisps with sauce were delicious. And the baba ganajoush delicious and the grape leaves too
I ordered their food today (10/01/2015) and must say I was impressed. For the price I paid, I had enough food to last me for lunch and dinner. Their food was very nicely flavored and one thing I always judge a restaurant by, their tomatoes. Most restaurants have under-developed, less sweet, and dense green in the middle tomatoes. Not at Maral cuisine. They were actually very nice, red and natural looking tomatoes.Fair warning, they dont do traditional American-style service. Most of the servers are quiet and less interactive. Ive read a few reviews online complaining about it, but honestly if the servers not being obnoxiously in your face with a false can do attitude is the biggest complaint, I think this place disserves six stars.
I came in a little late about 30 minutes before closing to get some takeout, and it had seemed like everything was already put away and they were ready to leave. I thought that was alright since no one was in there, which struck me funny since it had such high reviews. Then we ordered some food, and I was pretty excited, since I love kebab, but man was I disappointed. It was so dry and bland that it made my stomach turn. I hated it. But I have to give props on the chicken. It was excellent. However, that kebab has influenced me enough to never come here again.
I had the chicken kabob and salad. The salad dressing was very gritty. May have put ground parmesan cheese, should have used shavings. The chicken was moist and tasty, but I have had better. It was the service which brings the rating down. Though customers were eating their meals, 3 staff talked to each other across the restaurant and in another language (not Farsi) as if we werent there! Even when around the corner from the dining room, they talked loudly about their personal lives. I went to enjoy a meal at a restaurant, not their living room.
Great lunch specials, amazing lentil soup, great service and spectacular prices for the lunch specials. This is probably one of my favorite persian restaurants. My experience here is limited to lunchtime, but I cant imagine their food will be worse during dinner time, though of course dinner prices will be a bit higher. 4.5 stars.
Nice place. Nice area, easy to find, lots of free parking. Although its in a strip mall, the atmosphere is elegant with outside tables. A cloth napkin kind of place. The quality of the food is great. You can grab a quick bite to go or get dressed up and have a sit down quality restaurant experience here.I recommend Maral.
Great Persian restaurant in the area! They have an extensive menu that includes vegetarian, beef, chicken, lamb and fish. Portions are large.Had the babaganoush appetizer, very fresh. Entree was chicken barg with beef koobideh. They give you option of rice with a small upgrade fee, chose the adas polo. Left overs for the next day. Great customer service with timely refills of drinks.Second time coming and will be returning again. They dont rush you out, which I appreciate. Gives you time to enjoy your meal and company.Very clean facility and plenty of parking.
LAMB SHANK!!!!!! Go here if you love it. This place is a little expensive as compared to other Persian cuisines on thousand oaks, the portion though is huge. I sometimes eat thrice with that portion. I love the Babaghanush over here too, it comes with olive and tomato.
Owner rude and obnoxious and walked away almost yelling at me for double checking halal status of meat before ordering. I asked if they’re meat was Halal and after saying yes it is she couldn’t physically bring a sign or a box and confirm the actual Halal status on any item and gave different answers which is typical of Persians confusing Muslims and false advertising. I Don’t recommend this place for halal eats.
Drove here with friends to have a celebratory lunch today and as we walked in the hostess was on an ear piece without us knowing. As we walked up to her stand she made no eye contact. I said hello and sje looked at me with daggers in her eyes and just pointed to her ear piece. My friends and I just looked at each other in complete shock that we were just greeted in such a rude and dismissive manner. We turned around and walked out. There is no way we could enjoy any part of our meal when we didnt feel welcomed AT ALL. The energy she gave off was clearly one of a miserable employee who didnt want to be there. Across the strip mall is another spot to eat so we ate there. Greeted properly when we walked in, unlike Maral cuisine.
Horrible experience here. You expect bad service sometimes from employees because they arent vested in the company.... but when the owner is rude and tells you take it or leave it.. WOW!!! Youre much better off going to Sadaf restaurant right down the street, prices are slighty higher but well worth it since they have MUCH BETTER service with a smile.

2022-04-22I highly recommend the chicken koobideh with salad & a side of salmon a la carte. I also tried the white fish entree and it was great. Also their lentil soup is amazing too with their small thin pieces of flat bread with butter.Just be aware that the portions is massive, I would say one entree can probably feed two if you’re a small eater. Great Persian food spot with excellent customer service.

2021-11-22High quality persian food in Agoura hills. I will try it again. Specially lamb rack plus Tahdig with Qormeh Sabzi. Friendly staff and not busy at all. I like the outdoor dining area too.

2022-05-10The food is good but the service, not so much. We waited over an hour to get our food and they didnt even bring us a change of silverware. Perhaps not fully staffed in the kitchen.

2021-01-17This is a late feedback, I have visited this place a year before with my colleagues and it was absolutely fantastic. Apart from all the delicious flavours of chicken and meat. Rice flavours are something I never tasted anywhere else. I want to visit again and try more.
