A beautiful scenery. I heard today that theres rarely water in the creek. I caught it when the water was flowing and this particular evening at sunset, the way the reflection of the rocks and the mountains around hit off of the creek water was breathtaking. Ill b back and I recommend this place for mother nature splendor, some fresh air and a hike.
Beware of the Malibu monster that lurks in the murky water and likes to prey on the cliff jumpers. The higher you jump, the higher the risk, the better u taste to the monster. Instead consider joining the rock climbers if you are looking for thrills. Opt out of getting in the pools. Its a fun traverse to get across but it definitely gets hard if rock gets wet. So wet people, stay off the traverse!
Itβs a great experience overall. We hiked from the grassland trail to the rock pools and then we headed to century dam. The place itself is pretty. The water is really dirty and smells so it isnβt recommended to go in. Overall though the hike was great and pretty easy to get around.
Amazing spot not to hard to hike to and a perfect half way point en route to the M.A.S.H. Site.A beautiful hike with almost unlimited option of trails that all break off the main trail.Definitely make sure you have water or a water filter .The hike is beginner level unless you break off to the smaller trails. Most handicap accessible and well worth the hike. You can jump from 50 off a rock wall or 20 from a boulder or 10 from another rock. There are many options and on a hot day not a bad place to chill. There are also swimming holes along the waters route, go adventure but be safe on the rocks and respect nature, it teaches tough lessons!!!
I love this place. The water is cold and clean with the stream constantly flushing it out. It does get crowded midday when its hot, and sometimes people arent cool enough to throw away their trash. But, for the most part, its a friendly place with everybody jumping off rocks and swimming and generally hanging out. Lots of great rock climbing here as well and someone even set up some silks last weekend and let us have a go. Keep it clean, pack it out, and keep your music to yourself if you dont mind.
Good place to camp very respectful people there is like they choose the nicest people to camp there when you walk around the camp people say hi and good morning too that is nice and for just 45 dlrs per night you get an space the you can fit up to 4 tent and 8 or nine people with one car and just 12 dlrs per car and parking for two cars and there is hot showers nice toilets not just a hole in the ground actually toilets and they clean them daily in the morning
Worth the short hike to see it but at least during October it was more of just a cesspool of gunk than anything. Worth visiting but not spending any amount of time at and certainly not worth jumping in. I LOVE water and was really hoping to jump in but I didnt feel like cutting through the first layer of festering algae and filth to get in. Go spend time at the Century dam just up the trail instead.
I will not be visiting this spot anytime soon! I had only gone once before about 6 years ago and it was so tranquil and hidden, back when the creek actually had water. We got to traverse the side of the rock along the water back then along the pool. Now it is filled with still swampy water and tons of people who seem to use it as a pigs play pen leaving much of their trash behind. Hopefully things get better in this natural area! π
We passed by the pool to do some climbing. While there were quite a few people swimming and jumping from tall rocks I think i would pass on getting in. Water seemed pretty dirty and kind of still. Maybe in the spring its better but even on a hot August day it wasnt appealing to me.
These pools are awesome during the spring time...Champaign water springs goes from the dam to the rock pool. It is about a mile from dam to the main rock pool. Please watch out for rattle snakes. You are in their home(Please dont kill them unless you have to) Take your time and look around you as you hike through the canyon. Lots of wildlife everywhere, just sit down for a few minutes and watch who comes out.
Great place for rock climbing. Havent explored much more but we were able to get out to Rock Creek with strollers and small kids. There are porta potties that are disgusting but there was a race the day we went so maybe they were fuller than usual. The restrooms at the parking lot were clean though. No soap for washing hands. Will come again!
Its great, but the water is not clean. Be sure not to drink it and to wash off as soon as possible. Today, after a week of hot weather, the temperature was slightly warm! Usually, its cold-to-freezing. I think there are animals in the water but its too murky to see.
Great place to go cliff jumping. You can find jumps up to 30ft. Make sure to check the depth of the pool before jumping!! Next, make sure to jump where you know there arenβt rocks sticking up from the bottom of the pool. Be smart. Itβs a really fun spot and easy to access from the parking lot.
Hiking to this pool is so peaceful. Its a short hike through tree covered dirt paths and then you reach this pool and its a complete change of scenery. It can get crowded here, but its usually not bad. You can wade in the water or if youre more daring, you can go cliff diving. Its actually a little dangerous though since you have to clear a boulder at the bottom to hit the water.
Ive been coming here swimming for years, the best time to come if early spring because there is so much water and the rivers are full up to the top of the bed its just gorgeous everything is green around June to May it starts dying down and the water starts drying up becoming a beautiful California LOL
Came to CA for vacation. Brother and I are both massive fans of the TV show M*A*S*H so we wanted to hike out to the set. The park itself is really cool and has a lot of great views. But be aware that the bridge is out so you have to walk across some logs. If you are planning on going out there to bike you may have a difficult time. Other than that the whole experience was awesome and the set, despite being in a fire a while back, is still a really cool experience!
Its an awesome family as adventure,...the entire experience was mind blowing..great place to be at when relaxing from a stressful week of work. The place was clean and volunteers were picking up bits of clutter. Recommend highly to families and everyone seeking a fun filled day!
For myself I love going here. Super fun to jump off a cliff. I will note there are always large groups of college students here every time I go. Still a good time. But if you are thinking of taking kids just consider all the college kids that are also there drinking and swearing.
Its a good swing hole during hot summer weather. My son swims here all the time and loves it. People are not supposed to jump off the boulders, but unfortunately they do. If you are coming here to swim, please dont jump off the rocks, dont smoke( its a fire hazard) and dont litter. Keep it clean. Put your trash in the trash bins located right there. I cant believe how much trash gets left behind and right next to the bins.
Camping sites were too bad although since we were new at using a trailer our spot was a little difficult to get into. After setting up we hiked 2 The Rock pool, Maybe a mile to a mile and a half from the campground. The Rock pool was crowded. Wished the campground had electrical and water hookups Would Have Made It Lots nicer.
OK. I was pleasantly surprised. I am from the PNW and kinda have a penchant for things like cliff jumping and swimming holes - its part of how I was raised. I do NOT expect the same level of caliber nature in Southern California, especially in the LA basin, but again I was surprised at how fun and amazing the Rock pools were.We camped at Malibu Creek State Park and hiked into the pools and we had a blast! Yes, much more crowded than anywhere in the PNW, but still quality swimming hole and cliff jumping and it does NOT feel like youre miles away from DTLA. Surroundings are beautiful and overall the crowd ended up making it fun in a new and different way for the otherwise isolated camper/hiker/climber. Loved it.

2022-02-21This simple trail is just beautiful with few inclines, most of it can be pretty simple. You can escalate your workout by traveling closer to the water over the small rocks. But it is a wonderful experience a little over 2 miles round trip. The experience includes a colorful palate and natures π¦ bunnies π¦ and many wonderful creatures. Also flowers along the way! Parking is $3 per hour 12 flat. Buy enough to not worry about a ticket so you can enjoy your time stress free. Its worth it. There are clean bathrooms in the parking lots. The rangers are super nicr.

2022-01-13Malibu Creek is Beautiful especially after a good rain. After the rain the river is flowing and the waterfalls are gorgeous. The hike to rock pool is probably about a mile and a 1/2 or so. It is a beautiful hike! People swim at the rock pool, but I wouldnt recommend it if the water isnt flowing. If you traverse along the rock past the rock pool and climb up you get to a rocm climbing area called Mt. Gorgeous π! There are about 36 amazing routes here of all difficulties. You could come everyday and probably never be bored unless your an incredibly strong climber. I come for the climbing and will probably be coming for a long time before I can send all the routes. I highly recommend this place for all adventurers. Whether your a climber or just looking for some outstanding hiking Malibu Creek is beautiful. Parking is $12 otherwise this place is free to visit.

2022-01-03The Malibu Creek Rock pools are fun to explore. They can be accessed from the Cistern Trail/Lookout Trail or from the Malibu Creek State Park visitor center. If you come right after it has rained, the water level will be high and you wont be able to safely explore all of the rock pools here. However anytime you come, the area is very relaxing and worth the visit!

2021-08-09This is an absolutely gorgeous hike. My sister and I brought our boys here with the intention of them being able to swim after a nice long hike. This is definitely not the place for that, at least not in August, because it is pretty dry. And, the water that is left, is pretty stagnant, and not swim worthy. But, the scenery is gorgeous, and the hiking is amazing! Very kid friendly. Lots of different walking trails. Just beautifulβ¦

2021-07-08Malibu Creek Rock Pool and Lake were such a surprise! Its now my favorite walking trail. Its around 3 miles each way from the parking. There were lots of people swimming and jumping from the rocks into the pool. It looked so fun and refreshing although Im not sure I wanna brave the unknown in the bottom of the pool.

2021-09-05First of all itβs gorgeous. Secondly itβs filled with bacteria that you shouldnβt swim in. I was so bummed to find this out after being so excited about swimming there. Odd thing is, they do not have a sign about the bacteria at the pools themselves and you arenβt warned at the entrance. Just a small sentence about it in the brochures they donβt even let you have for free, you have to pay for them! My friend saw the online brochure and told me about it right before I was gonna swim. I will add it in these photos. Bacteria isnβt something to mess around with. Please donβt let it get into any of your body holes or cuts! Also the water is intensely legitimately green, it was gross seeing people swim in it watching the green water be pushed around. Does not stink though! In all, this park in general is gorgeous!
