My friend adopted a dog from here. I see him nearly daily. He is such a cool dog. Mack makes us SO happy - he has a lot of character and love. He loves to hug us.He never barks on walks and even has kissed a dog.💕 Mack was assessed throughout his 3 month stay there and my friend was given all his paperwork and a FREE vet visit. We are SO grateful they took great care of him and kept him happy during his stay. Thank you
This Review is NOT 3.5 Stars as it the system makes it appear. It is 2 Stars for the fact there even IS a shelter. Deducted 3 Stars for the way Staffers Treat People! Lost dog overnight and while posting signs this am our neighbor(whom I didnt know until now) told me he had JUST dropped the dog off at this shelter. I immediately drove to pick him up. After being completely ignored for about 15 minutes along with everyone else standing in line, I asked for assistance and was referred to signage posted all over the walkway. Ultimately, I was able to explain that my dog had just been dropped off 20 minutes earlier; I was left standing there thinking they were going to retrieve him. After another 10 minutes a different gal, Jackie?, came to tell me someone would be calling me about the microchip and rabies shot, which hadnt been completed yet. I informed her that we already have an appt. this Tuesday for that and I just want to take him home. She left me waiting for someone else to call from inside with how they would be proceeding. An hour later I have not received that phone call. Meanwhile, the crowd lined up, waiting for help, was very rudely informed by a woman, a large disgruntled Officer Dogg who happened to be walking by that they had to call for an appt. and could expect to be on hold for at least 45 minutes. She didnt even have the respect to look people in the face or use kind language. I cannot imagine these people behind closed doors. Sad, Sad, situation! To those of you that work at this organization, we are ALL busy, and tired, and stressed, and hungry! Some of us worked at the hospital for 14 hours yesterday then spent 3 hrs, until midnight, going door to door and driving the neighborhood looking for our pet. We fielded calls at all hours of the night from people calling re. our social media posts about our lost pet. We havent eaten, brushed our teeth and spilled our only cup of coffee in our laps trying to rush to pick up our pet. Short staffed is NOT an excuse to be mean. Not one individual that was waiting to be helped by you this am was anything less than kind and patient, you can easily return the human condition, kindness! Joy Kersey, Shilohs grandma.
I understand these places can be difficult emotionally, especially if ones experience may have been pedestrian. I remember coming in around October 2018 with stray kittens abandoned behind a dumpster. I was told on the phone that they would be cared for. After arriving, I inquired carefully and soon found out that they would be euthanized at this shelter. They said that they were too young and the mating season overwhelmed the facility. Devastated, I kept them and found them homes even with my strenuous work life. They felt bad that they couldnt help, so they left us with blankets and dry kitten milk to help feed them. This May 2019, my partner and I wanted a dog. Now that we had the time to commit to a pet, we went back. The experience was challenging, because I wanted almost everyone of the dogs :DI found a pit bull had been there since September 2018, about when we came in with kittens. He had patiently waited for a home the entire time and the volunteers adored him. The shelter was clean, and full. If you are worried about euthanasia, just know it looks like they are trying their best with their limited resources. I would like to add, I noticed some of the dogs were yearning for attention and its challenging to attend to all the dogs every day. The volunteers make a huge difference! The staff was kind and courteous, even amazed we had asked to see this dog the moment we arrived. I had learned dogs that stay that long at a facility are AMAZING DOGS and just need a home. So I suggest anyone to check out the dogs who have remained there longer than 3 months. They are well behaved and sweet as can be. We finally decided to keep the pit bull. What a wonderful choice! They were so supportive of our decision and gave us a detailed description of his overall behavior and a well cared for medical chart. This helped us make an informed decision. They were also concerned that after 8 months no one wanted him. I guess that changed this Memorial Day Weekend.Great staff, caring, and visibly want the best for every dog and cat they try to adopt out. Thanks!
I found stray kittens and I was trying to drop them off. I was confronted by the rudest woman ever telling me that I had to wait in line like everybodyyyyyy else. How was I supposed to know there was a line? There were two people waiting out front.. I would have to wait for two hours just to drop these poor kittens off that were obviously having health issues. One of the kittens was very congested and seemed to be having trouble breathing. I told the lady this and she said “are you sure it’s having trouble breathing?” The way that she was talking down on everyone was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. She then repeated like I was a little kid that I would have to wait in line like everybody else. I’m 17 years old and she told me I needed someone 18 or older in order to drop strays off because i’m not responsible for animals. She said my mom could just come show her ID and then leave, but later on she told my mom that she had to stay for up to two hours until the kittens could be picked up. This made no sense at all and went against what she had just said. Then, she kept my mom’s ID for longer than necessary. She gave no updates on what was going on. There was no communication. The process of dropping off these stray kittens was unreasonably difficult. I’m hoping that in future times, someone kinder and more helpful will assist those trying to help animals.
Adopted my cat Jack here three years ago but recently he was caught in trap and hurt his leg. I really needed help finding him a vet to get him better. So a lady named Tabatha came out to help me... WOW what horrible customer service and just plain disrespectful she said you can give him back if you want I told her not for a million dollars would I give him up that he is my best friend. When walking away I look back and she was making faces at other workers as if im crazy all I asked was treat me like a human. She said if I dont leave she would call park ranger. I would stay away from her at any cost unless you want to be treated like a animal. Other then her I would give the shelter a 5 stars never had a problem here for 15+ years
I’m sorry I have experience bad business I love this shelter but some of the employees are rude and careless I went there because one of the workers told me it would not be a problem to get a kitten kit this kitten one kitten needed help and we were turned away just because I’m from the city Compton this is was sad to beg for help and no concern at all she wouldn’t even look at the cat Sent us away with the kitten sick so I went to another in Downey and they said they don’t service the city but they were still helping me because they could see the car needed the care I know places have different rules but common sense should have played a role. I hate Comming here know because they will let ur animal die this has happen before and before I left there facility the animal passed away and I just neede advise but Comming from Compton allowed me to not receive anything not even advise This was a very bad experience being that Compton is right next door it shouldn’t have been to big of a problem
I found a dead racoon outside our house and it smelled SO bad. I felt bad for it but needed it away from my cat and my window. It was after business hours and the guy on the phone was really nice. He let me know he couldnt promise theyd come right away since dead animals arent their top priority. However by late this morning I noticed it had been removed, and even though it was in between lots of plants the technicians obviously showed care when removing it.Ive also been to the shelter in person looking for my cat who ran away when we moved, and there were some very kind people working there.
I wanted a place to take my cat who had kittens because I couldn’t take care of all of them. I called them so they can take them in and their respond was that we should stop taking care of them and leave them outside so eventually they will just leave. I just wanted to make sure that my cats are being taken care in a safe place. If they cared so much about animals, they wouldn’t want a cat with newly kittens out in the streets.
Rude and insensitive staff. Unprepared to handle covid, the community its supposed to serve, and fails to respond appropriately or at all. Communication is severely lacking. This is particularly due to information being misguided and wrong. Covid is not a good excuse for not updating information so that it is accurate , and useful. There lacks a level of accountability with staff that creates a sense of panic and unease, which is a cause for concern when it comes to other procedures/practices that seem to be open to interpretation. I see a shelter uninterested in adopting out or uniting lost pets, and using covid as a useful tool to do so. Operations need to be a hell of alot better!!
Staff is Rude. Went to register my dog and was in line for almost an hour. The lady behind me was trying to drop off a dog she had found. I could see she was getting frustrated, as no one would accept the dog, and they kept telling her to wait. I told her to just call the company Home Again as the Dog had a tag on its collar. I finished my business and was leaving at the same time she decided to walk out. All of a sudden an employee burst out, yelling at her that she couldnt leave. Employee said she would be stealing the dog. I told the employee that maybe if they had cared to take the dog in the course of the hour she was there, she wouldnt have tried to leave. We advised the employee that we were just going to call the company the dog was chipped with, and to take a hike. The employee stormed off. What a Witch...Called for field service at 6 in the morning when a Pitt bull charged my mom and her boxer while on a morning walk... dispatch said there wouldnt be anyone available for 2 hours... no one ever came. Waited with the unattended dog, until eventually I used my shirt to tie it to a railing. It liked people, just not dogs...Another time I called them for service when the neighbors tried to poison my dogs by throwing chocolate cake over the fence, after I told them to turn off the mariachi music at 1 AM. Animal control wouldnt send out, but luckily Long Beach PD stepped up.Wont come out for hurt opossums...The only time Animal Control ever respond was after I went to the doctor for some antibiotics because my dogs snaggle tooth caught me while playing and I didnt want to chance an infection. They made me quarantine him for 10 days because somehow I wouldnt know if my dog has rabies...? Give me a break. What a joke.My three rescues are from other places due to this facility not wanting to place a dog that has kennel cough, so they continue to house them is poor conditions so that they never get better. They always found a reason to deny the adoption...Hope this place gets their act together.
If I could give negative stars I would give them as many as human possible. I called and reported a red and white husky male pup that I almost hit and got told somebody would be out to pick him up; I waited almost 3 hours and nobody showed up and nobody called; I then called again and was told rudely by the lady that it would be faster if I brought him to them which I was unable to due to not knowing how this dog would react to my dog, she then proceeded sto tell me that was not her problem and told me I qould be sitting there for another or 2 isf not longer... I sat for almost 3 more hours which at this point I called and spoke to a lady who was very nice at the fire Department and explained I was unable to stay with this pup any long... i then got a blanket from the back of my truck aa dish I filled with water and an extra leash...I am so sorry for leaving this pup please forgive me whoever the owners are, and honestly I would be more upset with Animal Control for apparently being sooooooo busy...what has happened to humanity its a disgrace to know that I am surrounded by people who forgot how to be compassionate and concerned; I hope and pray thes people who work for Animal Control dont have any pets of their own and if they do I hope nothing like tonight happens to them to where their baby is left all alone.
Have a kitten we rescued that had been abandoned in front of a CVS and I had planned on taking her there when I was able to get my day off from work. When I walked in they were all just on their phones firstly and not acting professional. The attitude I got overall from being there was that I was in there wasting their time. They also refused to take the kitten so we still have her. They said that they dont service where we found her which they really do but apparently they must have decided they werent that day. They just always have a attitude in the lost and found department.
Had a deputy call for me that a dog was in need, poor dog was skin and bones, clearly he needed help. Officer told me that the facility was aware that I was going with the dog, when I got there I was greeted by someone very rude saying we dont open until 10. Yes I do understand but there is a dog in need of help. If you work their you should help these poor animals, especially if your on the clock so help out!!! But no she left for about 15 minutes and then finally had somebody help out this poor dog. The poor dog couldnt even stand on his own and you want him to wait because you dont open till 10 !! That is ridiculous!!!
I used to volunteer next door and occasionally ended up on their side. Employees at the intake desk are rude, not helpful because they were too busy on their phones or gossiping with each other. I remember one incident where a woman was bringing in a kitten and the clerks refused to acknowledge her for a long time, even though they were clearly not doing anything.A couple of years ago I tried to bring in a couple of strays that I found and they kept trying to pressure me to keep them . When I emphasized that I couldnt because I already had 2 dogs, the person helping me rolled her eyes like I was wasting her time.Another time I tried calling them to report a loose dog in my neighborhood. Again, they tried pressuring me to 1. catch it 2. keep it. Really? Isnt catching stray animals part of their job? The dog couldve been aggressive or have rabies, but who cares about my safety, right? As long as they dont have to do anything. Geez!I realize its not a high-paying job but its still a job. Which you are required to do if you expect to get paid.LBAC- either train your employees better by reminding them why theyre there, or fire all the lazy and rude people and hire people who really want to be there to help and make a difference.
The animal control officers are rude and don’t give a damn about animals. Especially those that obviously have goals to be a police officer. Ugh. The staff that answer the phone are lovely and kind. I’ve had two separate interactions with two animal control officers and was disappointed with both. One involved a complaint I and our neighbors made against a cruel dog owner that severely neglected an outdoor dog left with no water, continually; the other a complaint was against me which was bird seed in the front yard-ooohhhh. The complaint was that I throw seed in the street, which I’ve never done. Ever. The 1st ACO never followed up, ever, & refused our calls and requests. She’s a Sargeant. The dog disappeared overnight & she tried once to speak with the owner and gave up because the dog was gone. The 2nd ACO told me I have to remove my hummingbird feeders as I’m violating California state law. The original complaint involved my placing bird seed in the street (not true!) yet he added the removal of hummingbird feeders to be a control freak. Again, he must have a yearning to be a future police officer. He likened the complaint against me to someone speeding in their car. Rules are rules. Tired of inept people that lack common sense skills to effectively deal with the public. This way of thinking by many is a sad reflection of our dim-minded society.
I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS.First of all, why don’t they open on TWO week days? I called on a Tuesday about a little stray kitten who was very visably ill.A while back a feral cat had 3 kittens close to my house and they would come in and out the back yard. Eventually only 2 came around my dog would chase them but never hurt them. She’s a loving pug and just wanted to play. So sometimes they’d hang out and they’d drink water from her bowl (these days are so hot of course I wouldn’t mind) the mother cat never came back so the kittens stuck around roaming between our house and our neighbors. A couple hours ago my mom noticed that my dog was not chasing the kitten (weird bc she would always chase them) my dog was Comforting it. So I called animal control( they were closed so I got transferred to the fire department( that is only 10 mins away from my house) the poor thing was barley hanging on to dear life. It was so weak.I came back to check on it and it had moved into a shady spot under our tree. The lady on the phone was rude and insisting I pick it up and put it in a box. I did. It was barley breathing. Leaking God knows what. An hour later and no one is here to help. It’s gone now. They said they were coming to help a sick kitten, they took too long it’s gone now. So upset it’s not even my cat and it made my heart break when it’s sibling cat came to see it. I told the lady on the phone that the sick kitten had a sibling if they can pick it up so it can get adopted it’s a really beauftul tabby kitten. But she said they’d only pick it up if we capture it ourselves (isn’t that what animal control is for ?!?) anyways basically she was no help. And now I’m stuck with a kitten corpse that is already starting to smell. Seriously, depressed I had to go through this with an animal that wasn’t even mine.
Dogs and their mischiefI was dogsitting 3 dogs, as usual, and I made sure to block off all exits in the yard (front, back, sides) to the street. One of the dogs I was sitting, lets call him X, is quite the menace & finds ways out that seem improbable. Feeling assured he couldnt get out through my blockage of junk (trash cans, picket fencing, etc.), I left to go to the bank & grab some food. Enjoying a scoop of chocolate mousse royale at Baskin-Robbins, I was texted by the dogs owner, saying they got a call from Long Beach Animal Control that their microchipped dog, X, was at their facility. Being close to closing time at 5:30pm, I could pick him up first thing in the morning.Arriving there before 10am opening, I gave the number they gave me pertaining to X, showing a pic of X on my phone, and then I would visually verify that X was the dog I came to pick up. One of the staff guided me to the particular kennel housing X, but it was a big dog. Huh? Where was X? The staff member guided me around to until I found a dog that looked & sounded like X. I asked Did you give him a haircut & shampoo? I was told they do that sometimes. I thought Oh, okay. When the staff inquired with a senior staffer, perhaps the one operating the entire operation, she told me theres no way the animal would be there, as impounded dogs are first put into the first building I went to for 6 days. So, we went back to the building to where the dog was supposed to be, and in that kennel was X. Buwhu? He wasnt there when I checked. I even told the staff member who directed me there, He wasnt there before. It was a big dog, right? She agreed. It seems like someone placed him there after I just left to look elsewhere. Now, to release dogs, the front office needs proof of vaccinations &, in this particular case, consent from the owner to pick up the dog as proxy. After a wait for the owner to fax over all necessary documents, the dog was back in my custody & we were off to go home, X being kept in isolation from the other 2 dogs as punishment. All in all, I was there for about an hour and a half. Im sure things wouldve been expedited had all necessary documents been handed over.Service was okay. Again, there was a little switcheroo with where the dog was being housed at. Im positive another dog, a large dog, was at 749 when I first checked. Other than that, it was merely a waiting game before I could finally go home with X.The person I talked to the night before about the dog, said shed leave a not about possibly waving the room & board fee of $19/day, seeing how it was about closing time & Id be there first thing in the morning to pick X up. Unfortunately, that deal was not honored. Why even say that in the first place?Overall, it was a good thing X was found safe & sound. He couldve been run over, dognapped or who knows what else. Microchipping is a usual feature, because loosing a dog can be devastating. Ask anyone whos had to experience a dog passing away. While I didnt want to be here for this particular reason, the experience was generally a positive one at Long Beach Animal Care Services.
Was forfeiting 2 young cats that made a home at my home. Beautiful little ones that I wouldve loved to keep if I could. I spent 2 weeks trying to get them placed before taking them here.I was treated like a villian. They were so rude and judgmental it was ridiculous. The people behind the desk were very sucked into their own drama. The handler was extremely rude...first insinuating that I stole the kittens because they were friendly. Then.. Acting like I was a real ass for bringing them in and not taking them myself. He would ask me questions...then cut me off like he didnt care anyways.
I tried to call Lynn, I waited for seven minutes for someone to pick up my phone call. Nobody picked up, it was really important we almost ran over a dog, and I wanted animal control to get up there as soon as possible. The dog had a collar so it was obviously dog that got out.Your automated voice control is absolutely the worst. My dad works in telecommunications. Get a receptionist to direct your calls. GET A DAMN HUMAN BEING on the phones. I actually had to hang up because I got sick of your voice automation telling me, how important my call is but not having a human pick up and say they are sorry for the wait. Now I have to stop what I’m doing to go rescue this dog, because the service can’t actully pick up their phones and actually do their damn jobs!
What a joke. I asked for some help with a Racoon this morning and I was told, “What do you want me to do about it? Throw it over the fence? He will just come back. Maybe he’s hungry.” That’s when I hung up on the rude “Animal Care Officer”.What else are we supposed to do when we have a animal problem. I guess just go out and get attacked. Whatever.
They are abusive to animals. The owner of our building requested that we surrender our dog. We had to bring him in to the shelter. He had a change of heart and we picked him up the next morning. When we picked him up, he was wet. It appeared that they squirted water on him. His leg was bruised and had marks that appeared like there was some fighting involved. They are closed today but I will look in to this. If there are any updates to this message, I will keep you posted. I wish we could see what is going on tape.BTW. I wish there was a way in which I could give them 0 rating.
If I could give a 0 for customer service I would in order to rate a company you will need to speak with a rep which I have not gotten the chance to do so I had an appt at 1 got there at 12:47 to be exact and it’s now 1:34 I just left it’s a terrible business when the door open you could have clearly seen that employees was just sitting in the hall doing nothing again this is a sad business
Long Beach Animal Care Services is the Four Seasons of animal care. Each cat has its own clean cage, with food, water, and litter, with enough space to turn and move around. The campus is clean. Long Beach Animal Care Services evaluates the cat or dog for adoption, then the SPCA, next door, visits to see if the dog or cat qualifies for adoption. Animal Care Services is adopting a no kill policy! Long Beach Animal Care Services spays, neuters, and returns cats who are not on deaths door, unless theyre adoptable. Animal Care is about to hire a full-time Adoption Specialist, according to a Town Hall meeting with Mayor Garcia and Ted Stevens, the manager. Therefore, do not hesitate to bring in your stray animal. The dog or cat has a chance for adoption, and wont be euthanized.
I went to take a sweet lovin kitten, so the kitten could find a good home and the lady told me I had to fill out a owner form and pay $72.00.....but the kitten isnt mine and the lady who had the kitten didnt register the kitten, so legally she is not the owner...meaning the kitten has no owner, basically a stray. And now I do not know what to do I cant keep the kitten, I was just trying to do a good thing. And I live an one hour away on bus and walking just so she can trun this kitten down and not giving the kitten a chance to find a good home
When i was there about 2 years ago to get a puppy, they were great, they were nice and professional, only problem i saw was that they had a dog that had kennel cough in with healthy animals. In a separate stall but, still there was a chance the other dogs couldve gotten sick...
They declined us cause we said on our application that the Husky we wanted to adopt would be outdoors ! They said , “ our policy is that Dogs must live indoors !! “ This is OUTRAGEOUS ! We explained to them that our Husky of 12 yrs. hated to be indoors cause of his heavy coat !!! TABATHA , the manager went as far as to tell my wife , “ We RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE to ANYONE ! “ WE ARE APPALLED ! With HER ARROGANCE ! Don’t know WHY ? They place INBREDS ... to be in charge and RUN a place as important as this !! GOOD LUCK TO YOU ! In Adopting an Animal at this place ! We SHOULD SUE HER ! And SUE THIS PLACE ! For HER STUPID BIASED action ( Stupidity )
I want to take this oppurtunity to thank God, and the Long Beach Care Unit for finding our lost dog. Our family was very sad because we thought that we wouldnt have our Rocky with us for Christmas. Now that we have him back home we have our spirit of celebration again. Thanks again for all of you who made this possible and may God Bless you. Thank you🙂🙏
Sent in my payment to licence my pet with a money order and proof of shots and was told that they never received it. I sent it in in July and was sent a notice with a late fee on November use the same mail box for years and just now have a problem ? I will find where placed the money order and trace it.
Horrible rude people working here. Receptionist has an angry attitude, any question I had she never tried to answer but would either hang up or transfer me to other shelters for one simple question it took me an hour to finally get ONE question answered. If she doesn’t know what she’s doing, which she told me, then she shouldn’t be working there.

2022-03-29A week after surrendering my dog for a 2nd offense and subsequent euthanasia, he still sits in shelter no action taken even though they can see he is frightened and anxiety heightened. Two days after director emailing me stating an officer would contact me and stating my dog would not have an unnecessarily prolonged stay, I have heard nothing. Multiple calls, voicemails and emails to Officers Law and Magana have gone unanswered. Grade F on customer service and no humane treatment to pet, Huck.

2022-04-09I volunteer here at LBACS and I can confidently say the care and nurturing the animals receive here is wonderful. The animals are the absolute best, and the veterinary team, staff and volunteers all work together to give the animals their best possible life.

2020-10-22I’m very thankful for this team taking care of a feral kitten I brought in. I tried for a month to socialize the kitten to see if I could give it a home but it’s too feral at this point. I borrowed a cat trap from them and brought in the kitten hoping they could do a trap neuter return. They were awesome at sending me emails and calling me to give me updates on the kitten. Within 5 days of dropping the kitten off he was neutered, vaccinated and dropped back off in my area. Very happy the little guy wasn’t put down and impressed with the efficiency and follow-up from the team. Now hes a happy guy who likes to sleep on our porch and play with string. Thank you!

2020-07-09We just adopted our little baby today. Everyone at this location were extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you all again for everything. Archie (aka Gizmo) is loving his big brother and has continued to be such a happy, loving little guy.

2022-06-24I wanted to donate some cat food and a cat bed. There were big blue bins conveniently outside of the admissions center. Staff was nice.

2022-07-06No one answers the phone, waited 20 minutes then hung up. What does one do with a dead dog found on the Blvd and it isnt yours? Id love to find out but NO ONE WILL ANSWER THE PHONE!

2017-02-03The Long Beach Animal Care Services facility is to hopefully find a new home for the animals that have been lost by their owners, gone stray, or are found running in the city streets. The staff are considerate of these animals in their care; they animals are often stressed by the whole situation. The staff work to help the animals calm down and cope with their captivity.People are invited to view the adoptable animals. Many of the dogs were approachable (many not). Their is a lot of barking with some of the dogs (remember that dogs can be trained not to bark all the time). Actually some adoptive people ask for dogs that bark or even for very aggressive dogs. Me, I prefer a dog that is mellow and happy. I never allow a dog that I have to be aggressive towards people or other dogs. My view is that this protects my animal and others. I am protecting my dog and not the other way around. I care for my animal and not the other way around. This way the dog knows its place and is much happier pet. Most dogs will give up the Alpha position and loyally accept their owners lead. You may enjoy visiting the Adoption Center (some families were there when I last visited. The kids especially enjoy it.I found a couple of dogs that I would love to own if I had a home at this time. One was a small black/grey friendly ten month old terrier. He was so playful and affectionate. Whoever lost that little guy must be very sad. The other heart winning dog for me was a small white ball of fluff (I didnt know the breed). He was so cute although he looked like he really needed a bath and grooming. (I was talking with one of the staff about the dogs and asked which dog was his favorite.. he named both of the ones that I liked... that was amazing as there are about 100 dogs or more in there.Note: Please be cautious about putting fingers in cages in good advice for you and your children... This message is repeated throughout the facility. Some of the dogs may bite. Also, the Adoption Center had some gorgeous cats and very cute kittens. There were some little grey kittens that almost anyone would fall in love with.

2020-11-22The people were very nice. You can see how much they like the animals in their care. They explained the process patiently. Its in a park and what we could see of the facilities was clean and appealing.

2022-01-18I’m sorry but isn’t it the shelters job to take in stray pets? Neighbor just found a dog. Had a chip check done. No chip. Drove all the way up to the shelter toBe told they can’t take the dog, they are full. What now? Let the dog run free? Get HBC? I’m so confused. These are services provided by tax dollars. Sorry they aren’t enough, but this is the job of a shelter.
