We visit this beach every time we go to southern California. There are tons of tide pools that are all teaming with life. The beach is surrounded by multi-million dollar homes, which are fun to look at in and of themselves. Theres an arch in the water just south of the beach which makes for a great backdrop for family pictures. The best part is that its easy to find (just off PCH), and its free to park (residential area). There are also restroom facilities and an outdoor shower area to remove sand from legs and feet.
Great miniature beach thats kind of tucked away at the end of its neighborhood. Even if you cant manage nearby parking and its crowded, its still a great place to stop. Long and steep pathway down, so its good for a lil cardio sesh😉 Like all beaches local to this area, the rocks are an absolute blast and make it worthwhile alone!
A very scenic beach with lots of rocks and crashing waves. Access is fairly easy down a paved walkway and there was a public restroom along the way that was open! The beach area itself is small and crowded on a Saturday. The beach at Montage Resort is a better choice if you want to see waves crashing on rocks and also have some space to spread out and walk or jog along the shoreline.
I am a photographer who loves to view the sunrise at the beach. I go to the beach at least once a week to discover unique spots on the Pacific Coast Highway and this is definitely one of them. It’s a nice cozy little beach for climbing a few rocks and chilling with a little more privacy. I don’t know how busy it is during the summer, but I know it’s not aswell known as larger beaches (Newport, Huntington, Laguna, corona Del Mar).I love it and I think you would too!
Great small beach with tide pools. We parked on the street and walked down short steep paved path to the sand. Public restroom with 2 outdoor showers. Lifeguard station on the beach. Tide pools were fun to explore with the kids. Beautiful homes in this area. We were here on a weekday during the spring. This beach probably not the best choice during busy summer days and weekends. It’s small and not much parking in the neighborhood.
This is one of the most beautiful beaches that you can find in Southern California. There are crabs all over the beach and the shoals are just breathtaking. Take a trip around sundown and the sunsets here are simply never disappointing. Be careful you dont fall into the little river though!
Absolutely stunning here. Very private beach not known to many people. Never crowded here even in the peak of summer! There are natural tidepools here that come and go with the rise and fall of the tide of course. Just be careful not to take or disturb any of the wildlife in the tidepools. Protect their environment and keep this place nice, that way we can always come back and enjoy this beautiful spot underneath the mammoth seaside cliffs.. oh yea did I mention the sea caves, only accessible during the day at low tide but so majestic and awesome, really completes the whole experience. Feeling one with nature amd taking in all the natural beauty. Unlike all the major touristy beaches nearby, this place is never crowded even when the nearest beach (Corona Del Mar) is jam packed visible off in the distance. You loom at that beach and then this one youre at and you feel grateful for the privacy, even though youre just a stones throw away from the big beach.. the tidepools and caves conveniently form a natural land barrier, blocking all foot traffic coming from the main beach, eliminating easy access over to this beach.. is a gift in itself. ♡
My reviews not paid, endorse or sponsored. Today was a good day visit little Corona Del Mar. The beach wasnt packed at all. Im assuming people were still afraid of covid-19 because usually this Beach is packed. Our children had enough room to fly their kites. The beach, parking lot and restrooms was was tidy. The gripe that I have was little Corona Del Mar is no fire pit ring or charcoal BBQ are allowed on the beach which is too bad because 3 stars beaches allow fire pit ring or charcoal barbecue on the beach.Yes I will recommend little Corona del Mar to friends and family but take note what is mentioned above no fire pit ring or charcoal BBQ allowed on the beach.
This beach was gorgeous! This is definitely a wonderful place to spend a vacation day. The beach was super clean and not crowded. We had a blast swimming here. There were also great tidal pools that we got to show to the smaller kids. They were very happy about the little animals living there. If your looking for a quite beach to relax on this is a great place!
I go here because my wife likes it. There beach is not large and not a lot of places to sit. The walk in and out is one steep road. Every time we go, there is a lot of seaweed. Parking is hard to find, but most California beaches have minimal parking. The tide pools are neat. If you are looking for a quick beach to visit, drive down the road to Newport, Huntington, or Laguna.
I found out about this tiny gem while Google searching for tide pools near Disneyland. After reading the reviews, I was 100% sold and couldnt wait to visit. This beach did not disappoint! We easily found street parking in the most beautiful neighborhood, and the walk down to the beach was pleasant and filled with so many great photo ops. Halfway down there is a clean bathroom facility with outside showers to wash off the salt and sand. The most magnificent feature was the incredible tide pools filled with sea life. The kids and adults both loved exploring and seeing all the tiny creatures waiting for the tide to return. Be prepared for COLD water, though. Overall, it was so much fun to spend a couple hours here. We hope to come back in the spring during our next Disneyland trip! Oh, by the way, its a 5 minute drive to Newport Beach!
It is a cute beach, a nice little spot to enjoy the sea breeze, magnificent views, and high waves. They have restroom facilities, as well as showers and changing rooms, that are all very clean. Once in the beach, the sand is clean, without much leaves or sticks. Its a ideal spot for sunbathing. No lifeguard on duty most of the time, so swim under your own risk. Still, not ideal for swimming, mostly for sightseeing. It has easy access both for cars and people walking by.
Beautiful little beach in a sheltered cove. Great for families. Easier to keep an eye on your children. Lifeguards on duty in summer season. The Toilets are close by. If you are bringing a lot of stuff its a good idea to have a wagon with wheels you can pull it on. The pathway to the beach is a long winding slope.
Beyond beautiful and so many interesting tide pools and rock formations. This is a rockier beach and fairly small. The most important thing to know if going with kids is that the bathroom and showers are halfway between the beach and street level. It’s not too tough of a climb, but with gear and tired kids, you may want to plan for that.
This beach is perfect for kids. Parking is a free for all in the near by neighborhood. Short and pleasant walk down the paved path to the beach. Their is a fresh water stream draining into ocean. My kids played here for hours. Do not collect any shells from this beach, it is being preserved.
Out of all the beaches in OC county, I love this beach the most. Its secluded, not overcrowded, has three areas with tide pools - each slightly different, has beautiful rock formations, is an easy walk from the road, and the restrooms are located close by. Its not a surfing beach, since there are too many underwater rocks, but these rocks break the waves and make the beach more swimmable.
A nice secluded beach with fine surf for swimming and snorkeling; no surfers here. Lots of kelp and seaweed, but not hard to find a clear area. A wide paved footpath leads down to the beach from a residential street. Lifeguard tower is manned all summer, and a shady table with a State Park Ranger is set up on weekends to explain the nearby tidal pools to the kids (plan to visit at low tide for best experience). There is a restroom building at this beach. Get there before 9am or after 4pm to find easy parking or be prepared to hunt for a spot on the residential streets or at the nearby State Beach lots; streets are free but the lots are pricey.
This is such a beautiful beach above water and below! I free dive her a lot and have never had a bad experience! The beach is beautiful and has fun for everyone (except maybe surfers... But oh well!Arch rock is a sight to see (and swim through)! The only problem is limited street parking...
This was a cool beach. Little tide pools and seaweed ponds to check out. There is a sandy area with a small stream right as you get down the path to this beach. We were checking this out in a tide pool that was pretty deep. An octopus popped out and ate this shell that was crawling along. Ot was an impressive sight.
I wish you could star-rate various aspects of a venue, instead of a single rating.Id love to give this place a 5 star rating because it is truly an awesome place to visit. The beach is nice and friendly to family. The downside is the steep hill to get to the beach. It can be a challenge if your family members have trouble with that kind of thing.Other than that, its a great beach to go to and spend the day with the family. Nearby youll find the tide pools and a lot of nooks and crannies to explore with the kids.
Going before sun light at low tide adventuring the fresh tide pools. Besides the crabs fish and urchins u might get lucky to see a baby shark, an eel, or an octopus. I usually am alone with no one around for a couple hours. Then its here and there u might see 3-4 people by 10am. Must see and absorb.
I grew up in Corona del Mar little Corona was the place that we hung out. My fiance passed away and we held his celebration of life wish I cant find the picture of unfortunately, but it is a beautiful spot it is really easy to go downhill to get to it but going back up is another matter if youre in a wheelchair I guess its accessible of somebody really strong is pushing you up but its worth it you can stand at the top and look down and its just stunning its very beautiful
Traversed down Poppy Street and felt warm from kind greetings, illuminating architecture and a most healthy population. We found the asphalt path to Little Corona---this is where I spotted the first Dolabella auricularia (aka Sea Hare) when scuba diving.Arch Rock is a noticeable landmark. The dive/snorkel is straight out and left. A diverse microcosm of marine life exists amidst the rocks. Water is pristine and clarity was such that little fish (wrasses) were seen swimming in the shallows from the sand. Dive location.Tidepools at Little Corona are brimming with life. Visiting in the morning/afternoon was a strife engaging all senses---from the chilly Pacific, to the crashing waves, and gentle California winds with bright photogenic surroundings. Visit!

2020-09-09Absolutely BEAUTIFUL beach! Watched the sunset from the top of the hill and was amazed. Stunning rocks, landscape, and sand. Seriously the most gorgeous beach I would highly recommend visiting here. Not your typical beach. More for just short time visiting, taking pictures, and exploring the little beach.

2019-10-09We went on a late May morning, so parking wasnt a problem nor were crowds (there were four others besides us). The walkway is steep, but has handrails and generous stairs/ramp so even I could access it. The rocky beach is just beautiful - with the tide out, Id hoped to see some tidal pool sealife, but there were none. But the beauty, the water, and peace was well worth our short trek.

2021-05-24An amazing treasure of the California coast. I was there on a weekday so I was almost alone to see the sunset reflected in an enormous tide pool. This day was really a magical mystical experience for me. Definitely go and enjoy. I made this photograph that day. The access is by a long rather steep ramp, some effort going down and lots more going up but worth it.Visitors really respect the rules of visiting these tide pools, keeping this a beautiful experience.

2018-10-11A must see quiet, rocky hidden beach with no crowd and breathtaking views.Check out the tide chart and try to visit during low tide so you can explore the many tide pools and creatures in them. There are rocks to climb and caves to see as well. Beautiful colorful rocks and huge shells are strewn about the beach.**Remember to not remove any rocks, shells, or animals from the beach. And always remember to pick up after yourself!
