I have been to quite a few nurseries and this is my favorite. There is a wide variety of plants and they are reasonably priced. The customer service is excellent - they are friendly and informative and I gained knowledge about plants during my discussions. Also, there are so many adorable plant stands, patio furniture, garden decor and knick knacks. A plant lover could spend hours here!
Wonderful nursery! The pot and plant stand pictured were purchased here. They have a unique selection of pots and garden decor. Their staff is knowledgeable and helped us pick out this plant (called a Sparky) that is hardy, full sun and attracts hummingbirds. The nursery is compact but has a great selection.
This is one of the best nurseries in S. California. If you plan to have a good selection of plants that will do well in S. California, you must Start here. I wish I knew about this nursery before I started putting plants in my backyard. Gary, the owner, is the most knowledgeable person I met when it comes to fruit trees and the type of trees that will do well in your area. He is a straight shooter, and is honest of what varieties will do well. He is also knowledgeable of what diseases plants are susceptible to, and how to treat them. They have the best potting soil mix for S. Cali especially produced after all their research. Prices are very reasonable, and you will only get a good product. They will also guarantee their plants for 1 year, I believe. They also have the most useful website when it comes to how to select plants for your garden, this is now my go to website when considering any tree or fruiting vine for my area. I wish they carry all the trees they list on their website, but I know their space is limited. If they do not have a certain tree, they will tell you when to expect it in stock.
A great nursery store! It contains a large numbers of different varieties of plants. Such as there are more than 20 types of different fig trees. Much more chooses compared with Home Depot. Also the owner is very knowledgeable and give me a lot of helps for planting my plants. A nice guy!
Gary (owner) has an unparalleled knowledge of gardening and personalized service you will not find in the chain stores. The plant selection is top quality with plants that will actually grow in your gardenAll staff are knowledgeable and friendly and extremely helpful with choosing your perfect plant
Great service and knowledgeable staff! Whenever we go there for our gardening needs and questions (Which is quite often), Leah and her entire staff are so patient and thorough. We bought a beautiful young Jolly Rancher fig tree for our home (among other things 😁), and it turns out the trees are from up in Northern California, in the southern part of ‘Wine Country’. Apparently quite new variety in so cal. They always have cool things you haven’t seen elsewhere. Just to check out their selection and meet their team is worth the trip at least one time 😉!
Came here after reading the OC Register article about mulberry trees that leaned on this nurserys knowledge. Ive now been here 3 times to plan out some fruit trees for my backyard and Im always amazed by how friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable they all are. And its a very down to earth type friendly, not bubbly which could get annoying quickly. And each employee has their little passions, like Kevin who grows so many types of trees himself, that he was ready with mango recommendations. Alan, who helped us this last time, kept coming to check on us and continue our conversation from earlier. After hearing and reading about this nurserys patriarch, Gary, I was a little nervous, but he was very down to earth and knows so much! It seems easy to get him started on a story about whatever plant you ask about. We were sent to ask him about ordering a named pineapple guava (as opposed to a seedling) and he went over the wholesale situation and why the nursery carries seedlings. Amazingly, he suggested we look for one grown by the La Verne wholesale nursery at Home Depot and sure enough they had some with a sticker specifying that exact nursery! Im so blown away that Gary would not only know so much off the top of his head, but moreover that he would send us to a competitor (and the super corporate one at that) just to make sure we were happy! We did end up buying a black mulberry and fig tree and are already planning to go back for our next fruit trees as soon as theyre in season. Thanks for making us feel welcome!
I really enjoy my visits here. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoy their spicy chili pepper selection. The plants are healthy with good yields.Nice selection of native plants as well as drought tolerant varieties that I use in my landscaping. Highly recommend.
Fell in love with the one on Jeffrey Rd. when my husband & I used to go there over 20 years ago. Now I love the closer one in Santa Ana. Awesome plant selection, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and I love their Garys Best soils! ONLY down side - not enough parking. Ive had to leave due to no parking. I always go back earlier on another day.
I can’t say enough about Gary’s quick communication and how amazed I was when I went to pick my Tropical Lightening climbing rose. While in quarantine my Mom treated my husband and I to a rose bush to brighten my yard. And at a great price!I own a small business myself that had to close at first until we learned that florists are part of the essential agriculture that is so important. I share this to tell how impressed I was, not only by the fantastic customer service but how immaculate this rose bush was! Pristine condition! I ordered it but out of concern for our high risk status I didn’t pick it up for two weeks.Gary took such great care of my new pride and joy and it is thriving in our yard.I will never shop anywhere else. Thinking I would order plants from another local nursery I was floored by how dried out theirs were and those sat there for only two days!I told him I’d be back for some florists roses and that’s what led me to google him and saw I’m able to leave a review!I’m a customer for life!
This is the best nursery ever! Gary is absolutely amazing. His knowledge and friendliness are unsurpassed, except occasionally by other members of his family in their own areas of expertise. I highly recommend dropping in and testing his gardening wisdom if youve never been here before. Youll be hooked!I have bought many trees here (2 persimmons, 1 pomegranate, 3 lemons, 2 pluots, 1 plum, 2 Golden Nugget mandarin (my favorite), 4 apple, 1 banana, 2 cherry, 2 fig, 1 lime and 1 grapefruit) and countless veggies and an occasional house plant or decorative bush. They have all been producing great fruit for 2 to 15 years!
A wonderful experience! The employees are very kind and helpful (Leah and Kevin especially!), and they have tons of plant choices. There’s even cats (make sure you pet Buddha and donate to the cat food fund!!) to add to the relaxing visit. Can’t wait to go back and get even more plants!
I had read about this place in local forums and wanted to check it out. It took me a while since I thought it was in Laguna Hills like its name, vs being in Santa Ana, lol. I was very impressed. Great selection in a moderately small space. I have been looking for various plant species and wow they had all of them with variations on colors also. Parking is a bit tricky. Definitely will be my new go to for plants. I am usually disappointed when I go looking for specific plants at other chain places, so finding this place makes me very happy!
I have been going to this nursery for about 3 years and I just love it. Everyone is consistently very kind and helpful. Today I picked up a phone order. Everything was ready to go and loaded into my van for me. Their knowledge and customer service is much appreciated!
Gary is the owner of this family run nursery. There is a free garden talk every Saturday morning. Outstanding selection of plants selected for this area of Orange County. Gary’s knowledge of plants is encyclopedic, and he shares it! I bought a “Rosanna” raspberry. The fruit is the best raspberry I have ever tasted! Gary will tell you why plants bought at the big box stores will die, and what to do about it.
This place is great, especially if you need fruit trees or similar that will do well in Orange County. Youll also find out that most of the varieties of apples, peaches, etc. sold at Lowes or similar wont even set fruit here. Their website is also tremendously valuable in terms of specific guidance appropriate for OC. Well worth your time.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom on how to save my lemon tree. Im new to gardening and Gary was highly recommended by a good friend of mine who got started with Gary a few years ago. So glad I came here and Im looking forward to coming here for many years to come. They didnt even try to sell me on anything I didnt ask them for. I wish these folks the utmost success!
Laguna Hills Nursery has so many amazing selections of seeds and plants its staggering. Everyone who works there is helpful and SO knowledgeable. If you want organic plants, helpful tips, and to support at amazing nursery who does so much good for the planet, go here!
Talk to Gary. He will overwhelm you with information on any topic dirt, nutrients or plants. They have ultra excellent soils... PROPER SOIL to grow your plants in. Mix in some osmocote, also available here.Ask about his foliar feeding recipe for super growth (palm fertilizer, kelp extract, sugar)If you want the ultimate avacado tree for your application... Talk to Gary.Want a hard to find in the retail market tree... Talk to Gary.Go hang around and listen to Gary help other customers if nothing else. Your mind will bloom.
They have a large selection of plants other nurseries do not have. They have a very knowledgeable staff. If they dont have something they can order it in. The owners been a nursery manager flash owner for many many years he also gives talks on how to properly care for plants to get them a maximum amount of return.
WOW Great Find! What a great Nursery. This nursery has five solid stars for a reason. The people here are all very knowledgable. They have great products here as well. The owner Gary also has a Youtube channel with lots of great information. I wish they werent an hour a way but you bet i will drive that far for the quality I found here coming from a long time organic urban gardener. I have 25 plus fruit trees and loads of veggies. Trust me, this is the spot!Great job keep it up!!!
I know it is a pricey nursery, but their array of plants and flowers is amazing. There are also garden items available,; pots. flags, etc. Gary showed me within the nursery how some of the plants I was thinking of actually were growing right there. The help is tremendous. Even with the price, Ill be going there again.
I came to this Nursery yesterday. And the staff was so friendly, I am newer Gardener and they gave me so much knowledge about my garden. They were so attentive. And I had a female employee help me she was so kind and introduced me to their YouTube channel for more tips. This will be my go to nursery from now on.
Very knowledgeable and nice owners, great prices and selection of plants but....they spray all their plants with larvaecide, in addition to the BT required by the CA Dept of Agriculture to kill apple destroying moth caterpillars. Anything that kills caterpillars also destroys the Monarch. They also sell invasive ladybug species that eat Monarch eggs. If you want yr plants to be good for nature, they dont have to look like they are coming out of the florists.
Gary is a very smart nurseryman! He can tell you what to plant and what not to! His classes are informative and fun! He even has coffee and snacks for those interested! He has fig and pomegranate trees available and is getting in more all the time! If you want something he doesnt have he would try to get it for you!
Big nursery with lots of tree and plant varieties. Gary was very helpful in helping me find a persimmon tree and aloe vera plant. Im new to this gardening thing so he was able to answer all my questions and I learned he also hosts free weekly seminars on different topics to increase the knowledge of others in the community. Definitely plan on making many trips back there.Parking seems a bit tight though.
If youre looking for a boring, ordinary nursery with average stuff, go somewhere else. This is the place for super interesting and unique strains of trees, roses, and ornamentals - and Gary, the owner, is a wizard. Ill be back to attend some of their classes - cant wait!

2021-11-18I visited Laguna Hills Nursery yesterday to pick up some soil. The atmosphere is very enjoyable as it seems like a mom and pop operation and there are plants everywhere. The cashier was super nice and there is a store cat. My only thing was no one approaches you if you look like you might need help. While I love gardening Im not expert and I had questions. When I did ask, the staff person (non cashier) a as helpful but it felt like they responded like I should have known. Maybe it was an off day. Will go back though as their plant selection was awesome.

2021-04-12Visited this nursery looking for some vegetables to plant. Bought some young tomato plants and also Gary’s Best Acid Mix and Pumice. Gary the owner holds gardening lessons at the shop and the recording can be found in his YouTube channel Gary’s Best Gardening. His shop is full of great plants, trees and flowers. Staff are knowledgeable and owner is a pro horticulturalist.

2021-03-13Great Quality. The plants are healthy when bought . I purchased an Ice Cream Bean tree from them last year on April 15th 2020. The plant was about 5ft tall, and within a year, the tree nearly tripled in height.
