Hello. I am member of LA Fitness. I choose this club because there are Sauna, classes, pool BUT Every time I have a classes there are not any rugs every time in Location at 10535 Heater Ct, San DiegoI complained to managers every time because it is impossible without rugs. Can you fix this problem please or I will sign up to other club.Regards, Julia
Visiting San Diego with my husband who is on a month military assignment and didn’t know if it would be worth it to get a membership. We sat down with Titus and he showed us the value in getting the membership. So happy with the service and will be going to LA fitness at our next duty station.
My gf got scammed at this place. The only reason she bought their personal training was that the salesperson (Jennifer) promised she could cancel the plan for free anytime instead of being committed to a contract. Later on she found out they printed out a contract stating you are committed to a one-year contract and if you were to cancel it before it ends, you would need to pay half of the remaining bills. They made sure to distract her and not giving her time to read the contract before signing it. When she confronted their management, they would say “why did you sign the contract then?” I guess whatever they say you will need to document it on paper and let them sign it as well. Otherwise they will promise you everything to rob you
Management lacks the most simple customer service characteristics you would expect to receive as a long-standing client of theirs. Customer service is the difference between a place I prefer to visit, kind and considerate people, versus a place I would rather avoid, rude and patronizes you over your questions.
Iam very disappointed in this location. I have been a la fitness member for a long time, and have brought 4 people and made them members as well. I put a friend on a 7 day vip 3 days ago. We went to a different location whitch got his information and took care of the paperwork with his computer. We decided to try this location . The second I mentioned hes on a vip the girl starting saying oh your already committed let me give you a deal. We were trying to tell her something and she kept interrupting and talking over us. I understand trying to sale a membership but we still had 4 days. They looked on the computer and said hes not on there. We said thats fine well go back to the other location. They said let me ask the vice president if its OK. When she came back she said she found it but it says its expired today, not sure how a 7 day membership expires in 3 . I ended up waiting there for 15 mins . When I got fed up finally I told her forget it and my friend to leave. She gave me a sarcastic goodbye. Super disappointed.
Ben, the assistant manager, at this LA Fitness is on top of it! He’s very customer friendly and professional, catering to customer needs. He is very knowledgeable about the facility, the amenities, and training. I had a great time working out at LA Fitness. There is everything you need, from cardio machines to powerlifting.
Great gym and customer service! Has all the equipment and amenities you need (pool, basketball, racquetball etc), huge and clean space, diverse set of group classes, every time I’m in town I come here to work out! Drew is also fantastic and provided stellar customer service. Membership fee is reasonable and flexible. Join this gym!
My Mom was trying to cancel her membership during pandemic, however, they told her that she has to come to the office in person. She is in her 70s, and has trouble to go there herself. Later we found out and went to the office to help her cancel her membership. We were told that the membership was cancelled and we are all set. But later we found out it was not canceled at all. They keep charging us! My mom didnt go to the gym for 2 year, and they keep charging us even though we called and go to onsite as well to cancel our membership. Whats wrong with you, LA fitness!? Lesson learned: every time you talk to a person there, , you have to remember his/her name, otherwise, they will always say:oh, I dont know who you talked to, but you was told was not true..... So disorganized or unprofessional!!
Very good machines, basketball court, anything you would want in a gym. Staff is extremely understanding and are willing to help you. IO want to specifically thank Ben, the assistant manager, I was not even a member and he spent a lot of time with me and was patient with all of my questions, and was just overall very respectful as well.
The staff is incredibly kind, the gym is clean, and they have all the equipment I need. I have yet to meet a staff member that wasn’t 100% welcoming! There is ample parking which is always a plus. I wish they were open longer on the weekends, but overall the hours are fine. Came for the pool and location, staying for the staff and cleanliness!
I personally like this LA fitness. I know there are quite a few bad reviews of this, but I have no reason not to like it. Its quite spacious, has a lot of instruments, the pool is reasonably big and had a lot of racket ball courts(although they are shutting down 2 of them now). I go to 3 LA fitness facilities - the other two are in Poway and Rancho Bernardo. Definitely this one is the largest. The only problem is, it is almost always crowded (before pandemic of course), a few instruments are always broken (the list is very small), and the sauna used to be below standard compare to other facilities. Still, I think this is one of the best locations.Update: I moved to a different area now and started using couple of other LA fitness facilities; however, my previous remains the same about this LA fitness location. This is by far the most spacious LA fitness location that I have been to (in San Diego). 5 stars.
Im just here in San Diego on leave from work and visiting family for the holidays. Be it that Im only here for a week and need to keep good physical condition for my job I decided to call LA fitness and was helped by Drew who understood the situation and helped me out the best way he could. Im excited to go in workout and its good to know Ill be in a place that genuinely wants me to get my excercise in.
So far compared to other gyms this gym is very nice and clean. The staff is helpful and they have great trainers. If you are looking for a master trainer her name is Ashuanta. She is by far the best trainer Ive had. If you are looking for a trainer in San Diego area please send me an email.
I have only been to this location once, however it was not worthwhile. Aside from location this LA Fitness branch has nothing going for it. All of the equipment is in terrible shape (barbells with preassigned weight are wobbly/free weight areas are damaged, I went to use cables and there werent even actual weight numbers assigned to the plates, the plates are not ergonomic they have 3 oddly shaped holes), the vending machine requires a third party person to come over and open it for you instesd of just being a regular vending machine and they dont work Sundays so if you forgot your supplements that day you are out of luck, they dont have straight pre-made barbells only e z bars, and I was just disappointed over the lack of platforms to do deadlifts/olympic lifts especially considering they didnt have rubber plates. The Encinitas branch is in better shape, I personally use the oceanside location as it is closest to me and it has the best amenities for an avid weightlifter.
I love this place!!! it is always clean, there’s loads of equipment and the maintenance is great , spinning area, bathrooms clean, child care area, the staff is very friendly and professional the perfect place for exercise, affordable price, the Parkin is enough,100% recommended!!!!
As far as gyms go, this LA Fitness meets expectations but there is some to be desired. When I was looking for a gym in the Mira Mesa area my options were pretty limited so I went with LA Fit which is the more cost effective option. However with the cheaper price came a few trade offs. Firstly, this gym is incredibly busy after work until around 6:45p-- Im talking having to circle the parking lot several times to MAYBE find a spot... with all street parking full as well. If you cant find a spot on the street or in the lot, theres no where to park. Secondly, the gym isnt the cleanest. There are stations to wipe down your equipment, however the cleaning solution seems like it might be watered down... it never comes out easily and the paper towel dispenser is often empty. Also, you can smell the chlorine from the pool just about anywhere you are in the gym. The classes offered are about what you would expect, the instructors are friendly and helpful. Its a decent gym for the price.
The man at the front desk was so rude that all three of us in our group of friends canceled our memberships right there on the spot. I only write this review so that the company can know who they have representing them. LA is a good gym, I enjoyed it but I will be gym shopping.
This is a nice LA Fitness. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I had an issue with my account, didnt realize it for maybe 3 months, and the sales associate who initially help me out called and resolved the issue without needing to interrupt my work day. It gets busy after work during the week, but I usually dont feel it getting too crowded during the week.
The gym is a lot cleaner recently -- no empty bottles or wadded up paper towels everywhere like before -- and they stopped playing the ad-supported radio.A big improvement, but it would be nice if someone picked up the trash in the parking lot more frequently than twice a year.
I was going to this gym for a while before COVID.Then, while the gym was still shutdown, they charged my CC $30 for membership. I drove to the gym to confirm that they were closed. So I emailed their contact from their website to put a freeze on my account until COVID is done and over, and contacted my CC to remove the charge. 5 months later, they contact me by phone saying I have an outstanding balance for 3 charges. Not only could this gym not follow simple instructions and freeze my account, but they pretty much robbed me of $90. Ill go lift at 24 Hour Fitness.
I love this LA fitness. The staff is nice, the locker rooms are decently maintained as well as the equipment and the gym. I usually come here for pickup basketball which is great on Fridays after 3pm otherwise hit or miss during the week. Ill continue to come because its conveniently located to work. Its never super busy when I come (2-4pm m-f) and the parking lot always has room.
Clean and spacious facility. The are MANY pieces of cardio equipment and weight machines. I had to investigate a bit to find the free weight area. It was small but luckily not crowded. I was there mid day. The locker rooms were clean and had enough facilities for the number of people there. The location was not directly off of the main road but withing a complex so look out for the turn. Parking was plentiful. Water fountains are available but there are no water bottle dispensers.
The absolute best service that I have had anywhere , the gym culture is amazing (so many cool friendly people) and the staff is incredible, they all really genuinely care and look out for you. 10/10 recommend and I used to hate getting memberships anywhere. Dude dont even get me started about the sauna, hot tub, pool and 10,000 freaking classes everyday ! Yeah ... Im freaking stoked , SHOUT OUT TO THE HOMIE GREG ! thx for helping me grab protein lol
Facility is great. However, staff need to place info at the front desk or inform members of the closing hours. Staff should also do rounds at sauna, jacuzzi, and pool. Last Sunday a male member cleared his nostril and spit it out in the pool. Inside sauna, what is allowed and not. I saw a woman in Jeans with bag sitting in the sauna! Policy need to be enforced.
This is the gym nearest my work, and is generally pretty nice, good smoothie bar sets it apart form other LA fitness locations. Clean, decent equipment. Would probably give 4 stars except for the sauna, it was out of order for a couple weeks, then last week was tepid so I went to a different one for a week, came back when I just had time to do a sauna on my lunch break, got changed, put all my stuff in a locker, and the sauna was broken again. If its going to be out of order at least put a notice near the entrance so people dont waste their limited time when they just want a sauna. Figure this stuff out and I will give you an extra star or two.
Great fitness center. Staff is very friendly and most of them will even greet me by name when I walk through the door. Locker rooms are always very clean. Facilities are well maintained and if a machine breaks it is fixed the next day. If you live in the area and like a wide variety of exercise options this is the place to go
I come here for the pool. Recently, started using the main floor instruments - see update below. Its ok. The lockers and shower need some serious renovation. I swim in the morning and it can be quite busy. The audience here is generally senior plus. At 9:00am they close the pool for aqua fitness every other day which almost always gets in my way. If you lose something better go back for it immediately. Things just disappear. If you come the next day - forget about it.Update: Started using the instruments on the main floor. I like the selection of devices. Some come in duplicates, which is great, especially around 5pm - peak time. The main floor is relatively available throughout the day, but can be crowded around 5-6pm. The free lifting weight section has a bad smell almost intolerable sometimes.
One huge plus is that they use round weights. Good for deadlifts. Place is clean enough, but dont expect that during peak hours. People are generally considerate and put the weights back where they belong, but you will find a few who dont.It takes a while sometimes for the broken machines to be repaired.Locker room smells at times and the bathroom needs some work. They always run out of paper towels which gets annoying. The hours are OK, but they definitely cant beat 24 hr fitness. Holiday hours should be more visible, because sometimes I come back the next day(which is the holiday) and they are closed.PS: the water fountains get busted too easily and its taking a while to fix.
I wish I could give negative stars for the way the employees treat members and the OLD equipment they have. They claim everything is brand new but there are a lot of machines with something broken on it. They dont even have sanitary wipes for the equipment like most gyms do. All they want is to suck the money out of you and the employees will all give you completely different answers for any question especially when it comes to billing and canceling your membership. I dont think theyve ever heard of training employees 🤔
To Work: Its a good place to start as a trainer but you will quickly desire more. Sales staff comes and goes.Gym Member: Good equipement, staff can be unfriendly and avoid the busy times if you can. Oh i almost forgot, the bathroom was in horrible shape last time i was in there, look the ceiling had something happen to it but no sign of fixing it :(
I go to this gym because it is near my house. Between Chuze, SDSU, Crunch, and 24hr fitness, I would say this is probably on the less clean side and a lot of the equipment is old, especially some of the cable machines. Out of all the gyms Ive been to I would say this location utilizes its space pretty poorly and could be maintained better.
Smelly gym and locker rooms. Broken machines with signs telling you not to use it. Woid planks hanging from the ceiling in the mens sauna.Doors falling off scratched up lockers and rusty fixtures. Not sure if they ever clean the carpets on the benches in the locker rooms or in the main gym area? Smells like smelly feet. The manager must be super cheap? With the amount of people that use this gym, they should be doing a better job. This is one if the worst L.A. Fitness clubs. It was new and nice at one time, not anymore.
I like this location HOWEVER if you are female come prepared. I dont think they EVER clean their locker rooms. Dont sweep. Sure dont mop or sanitize the showers, or anything else for that matter. Bring flip flops and socks to wear in there or you will have 27 different womens hair stuck to your feet and ankles. Ick. But the gym itself is nice. I go early, around 6 am and theres not too many people in there. Enough machines and treadmills for everyone. It works just fine.
Its old, always busy, hard to find parking during peak times. Not enough machines, specifically stair climbers. The showers are pretty minimal and old. There is a constant musty smell near the locker room, probably because the carpet is damp or saturated. One of the worst gyms Ive been too in a long time.
It’s a classic la fitness layout upstairs cardio machines and weights really need to be replaced the members have even gone so far as to write on the inside of the barbells bent or straight as nearly all of them are bent so all of Mira Mesa patrons are fighting over the one bar that is safe to use I’ve complained to the manager of the gym and to corporate twice and every time being assured that it would be remedied after three years of bringing it up I just stopped getting a hold of corporate is time consuming and the gym director doesn’t understand what a bent bar is unsafe(clearly is not a athlete) he blames it’s the patrons fault and that may be true ( of course it is that’s what happens when you use equipment and never put a dime into repairs)but it’s still a safety issue or maybe just buy quality equipment. Only reason I come here is the location and some of my training buddies I’ve lifted with for over a decade workout here. Don’t expect much.
I had an okay time here but when I left (because I had to move and there was no LA fitness around me), they still kept charging me even though I hadn’t been using their services. I was promised they would stop charging me after I moved.I figured it was a mistake and tried to call them. God are these people USELESS and unavailable! The couple times that I did get a hold of them over the phone they led me on saying some other executive manager would contact me within 48 hours but no one did. I still don’t have my money back and they’ve stopped responding to my emails. Regret ever signing up at this useless excuse of a gym. Stay away!
This place is convenient! If you work around mira mesa, or more specifically around miramar road this is the gym for you! Decently sized, most of the amenities you could want, good equipment. The personal trainers are the real standout! If you need a solid after work workout, this is the place!
This is a good option for a gym. It has the full range of options including day care and pool. Cons, no towel service, people go into the sauna in full workout gear for some reason, and people dont always workout with a towel on hand...yuk. Also there is minimal floor real estate to do your own thing.
I had the membership at LA fitness for over a year. I even had personal trainer. They try to make every move and lie to have you sign the yearly contract. I got carried away with all great talk and information(lies) provided. Initially they told me an hr of training cost X amount. After I started, I came to know they just spend 30 min with you! Remaining half an hr is for you to get warm up...wohooo..Anyways...thats one of the complains.. I had many.... I would never join LA Fitness again. The personal trainer do not really help to train you and keep records of things we do or putting up a total goal chart. There is no exact track record of what you gain and what not. There is no conclusion provided. If you fail, they simply ask you to extend the membership. That is not how personal training work. For initial 3 months, they just told me the same thing...You will get there... keep trying. After that, You are getting better. After that, You are on your track to get to your goal. In reality, I never progressed to do anything impressive. We keep personal trainer to have someone push you all the time and motivate you and do things that you cannot do alone. None of that helped! Moreover, when I asked them to discontinue my membership, I always got the answer The manager is no here at the moment, you need to fill a form and send it to our regional office in LA ...really!!!! It took me more than 3 months to discontinue my membership and they charged me 30 bucks each month... 90 bucks wasted just to cancel the membership...Everyone treats you like a King when you walk in to join.. When you walk in to Cancel the membership, they treat you like their enemy. Nobody want to attend you and you have to wait for hrs to just talk to someone.I hate LA Fitness!
This place has gone south. The bathrooms and locker rooms are disgusting, none of the soap or paper towels are ever stocked, and the equipment is constantly being repaired. Management at the Mira Mesa location clearly has no interest in giving their customers a quality experience. All of the other locations in San Diego are clean and well kept. Meanwhile, this location has mold growing on the floors in the shower.
The was the busiest gym i have ever been in. Of course i was there during a peak time, which made it difficult to find parking. The facility is a little well used, the spin class was full, the zumba class was busy, and every racket ball court was in use. Every piece of cardio equipment had someone on it, and the free weights are was so pack people were exercising in the walk ways. Not to mention there was someone trying to dead lift 405lbs and dropping the weight. Come on man, iron weights arent made for that so try to be more respectful of the people near you
I would literally give this zero stars if I could but I cant. Gym is poorly laid out, they have lines of crap machines and barely any good strength and conditioning equipment. There is no space between the machines and such. A lot of the machines are broken even, a person next to me even jokingly told me that I picked the broken machine, meaning this thing had been broken so long it was a running joke. Worst of all is that I canceled my membership after two days after finding a much better gym at 24hour fitness and then a couple of weeks later they billed me for a full membership (more than they were going to bill me in the first place) and after calling them directly theyve diverted my call to the representative who signed me up because they cant do anything about the fact that money was taken out of my account without any notice or reason? Now when youre not an institution thats called STEALING.
Called in about transferring to a gym closer to work - they just said nope and that the other gym should have told me when I signed up if there was a chance to move I should have gone to the other gym. Theyd be happy to upgrade me....yeah right. They offered no options or ideas on how to make it work.
Annoying trainers come and harass you in the middle of your workout and try to help. They only want to groom you to buy a trainer membership which is ridiculously expensive. Weight machines are old and rusty, little to no floor space. I hope they upgrade their junk and tell their trainers to let people be.
Like that it has its own parking lot vs some other places are nearby a plaza that could build up traffic. Place are clean with basketball court, stationary bikes, racquetball, classes like yoga, pilates, body works and Zumba. They also have swimming, saunas and childrens place and a snack bar if you get hungry. 👌
The front-desk staff is enthusiastic and helpful. I love the smiles and affirmations they give me every time I come in. On the occasions I have accidentally left items behind -a cell phone, an ipod and a really nice fanny pack...I have been able to call and have the items retrieved and kept safe for me.The womens restroom needs some TLC. The doors are falling off and there is often hair in the shower drains. I would love to see fans put in upstairs so the cardio machine users can have some ventillation. I would like to see the trainers walking around being helpful rather than sitting in their cubicles trying to conjure up business. Theyd be more likely to get an appointment from me were I not feeling they were trying to sell me on their services.
Vulgar Rap/hip hop 24/7... maybe people dont care but I do. I dont want to be subjected to it when I am changing/showering.... My last club had uplifting instrumental music in the changing rooms, and it was a positive experience. Every day that I work out I have to be subjected to this rap and hip hop and be reminded that this is what people now consider mainstream or acceptable to play at a place like this. In my opinion it is a terrible lapse of judgement to have this on 24/7 like they do.. it is music I would expect to hear at a club that targets people who like that music, i.e. a rap/hip hop themed club, absolutely not a place like this that has a wide range of clients with many elderly and children and people of all ethnicities. One can imagine walking into a place like this hearing heavy metal....same thing going on here w/ this rap and hip Hop being forced on everyone.
I wish I can give zero star but thats not an option. This place is a complete scam. Was going to be in San Diego for 3 months, so agent gave me a short-term deal with no initiation fee. Ended up CHARGING me initiation fee and DOUBLE CHARGING my credit card for each subsequent month. Called them so many times and got my bank involved, nothing was resolved. Dont EVER go to this place.

2022-05-09I’ve tried to have LA fitness fix these kind of problems, but it has always been a let down. Been coming here for over 15 years and there has always been some kind of issue when it comes to this gym. Here are some issues I’ve experienced:I come here to play basketball, but the court and flooring are always messed up or dusty. I’ve never seen them maintain the court EVER. They might sweep and mop, but the court needs an entire refinish.THE RIM IS HELD ON MY TAPE!!! (See photo)Men’s toilets are constantly not working and or flooding. Two Racquetball courts have been out of commission since the start of the pandemic. (See photo)Exposed electrical outlets (see photo)I just don’t understand how a gym like La Fitness can continue to conduct business like this.I’ve tried to tell management about these issues time and time again and they continue to just say “yes, we know!”

2022-06-28I really like the service here. Ive been away from the gym for years and it was time to get back in shape due to some health issues. I originally spoke with Titus about signing up. Titus was great and knowledgeable about signing up.Part of signing up for a gym is a fitness evaluation. I had an appointment and went today. Unfortunately the original person I was going to be meeting with was out sick, but Fred Castro stepped in. He read my notes and really took his time in finding out why I was there and what I was hoping to get out of the fitness evaluation appointment. My biggest thing was not being very comfortable in a gym: not knowing how to navigate, what to do other than running on a treadmill or an elliptical machine, things like that. He took his time in his evaluation and made some suggestions. Although I need to lose weight and get my eating right, he also suggested some exercises in addition to what I was already doing. He appreciated that I was an ex athlete just trying to get back into shape, make a lifestyle change and be healthier, but that Im older now and may not have the time (or the energy) to get back to THAT kind of shape. It meant a lot to me to hear that. Although he mentioned that he was newer to the facility, he still invited me to come back to talk with him AND the other trainer to make sure all bases are covered and that I know what to do when I am there, how to use the machines, and how to maybe ultimately achieve my goals. I realize it didnt take me two weeks to get to where I am now, so I have to give myself that grace, but it was an overall pleasant experience to be here and Im excited about my new fitness journey to a better, healthier me. Thank you so much Fred! I look forward to again meeting with you and your colleagues to help me get there!

2022-04-16Pretty decent gym. Equipment is maintained, but a noticeable portion of staff are less than friendly and will in fact ignore you. Sometimes equipment isnt picked up weights and medicine balls all over the floor.

2022-03-21The service here is friendly and the place is well kept. There’s a lot of space and equipment to do my workouts. Primes was very helpful and helped set up a plan with my friend. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a local gym.

2022-06-23I had a personal trainer that helped me today and he was great! His name is Isaac and I highly recommend him. I’m just coming out of a hip replacement surgery and he gave me the right exercises to strengthen my hip and get me back in to shape. Giving me back the confidence that I need.

2022-04-04Sad to see such a great Location be ruined by Poor Upkeep and Dishonest practices. Was a member for 10 years.. Stayed away Due to Covid. Paid annually. I paused account, they activated it w/o telling me. I tried to Restart they say i owed them for months, and would not let me join w/o paying for portion while shut down.. I have tried multiple times. They dont care about you, just a # to them. Upkeep has always been pretty bad, but the location was too good to pass up. Planet Fitness is less then 5 minutes away now.. Will try them out. They were super nice when i called

2022-07-07Just got started at this gym & they offer a great set of fitness opportunities. Felt like it was welcoming & one of their fitness directors, Fred, made it easy to transition back into gym life!

2022-02-11UPDATED. Calls from managers are not returned. Difficult to get things regarding account accomplished. So I started with LA Fitness and also purchased training. I was told that after 3 months I could freeze the training if needed. I had a need. I called the club in November to freeze and they said they would take care of it. I still got charged. I called in December and was told it would be looked into. Still got charged. I then asked another person to look into it and they said my request to freeze was denied. No reason given. Thanks for nothing. 24 Hour Fitness, you are more expensive but I’m coming back. LA Fitness… you left a bad taste in my mouth that will never recover. I just can’t even…. I’m sure others have had this issue. Anyone know a good class action lawyer?

2022-03-21Primes was super cool and welcoming! Equipment is clean and staff is very helpful. Would definitely recommend this gym for people in the Mira Mesa/ Sorrento valley area.
