I like this facility. I didnt have any problem with adding one member and canceling other. No complaints. I am glad to have opportunity to work out and keep myself fit. What about mask....I think if you afraid, lets get vaccination and wear the mask - you protected, or do exercise home or at the park. Do not try to drive everyone into your own psycho borders. The Gym is good enough.
I like this gym for the most part but i think the team could do a better job at mandating the masks here. Lots of people with NO MASK on… not even below their nose. It’s a bit discouraging to come here and have to wear a mask and other members choose not to. I understand only vaccinated and tested folks are allowed in, but the I’m unvaccinated are more likely to spread the virus… and sadly it’s as if those are the ones mainly NOT wearing the masks.
Typical LA fitness location in socal... No one is cognizant of anyone elses workout besides their own and or buddies... i.e. no one re racks, or occupying high traffic walk way with stretching. Equipment wise its lacking any free form cable lifting machines. Lastly, motivation factor is high, a lot of inshape memberships off Ventura Blvd in Studio City. Parking is easy compared to LA proper / other side of the hill locations.
Solid but mask nazisLike OmG Im so annoyed w the masks not being worn even in circumstantial situations like when theyre breathing hard and really working out hard or doing cardio or swimming. Like why would they even come to the gym if they were sick right. Like I cant be logical in any sense, even though San Diego and Orange County and 49 other states dont Have mask mandates. Ho hum I love being a pawn of the medi a! (Extreme sarcasm used here people. Get over your false sense of righteousness and do something real like feed the homeless)
Ive been here a few months now and as soon as my 6 month commitment is up, Im leaving. The womens bathroom and locker room has had broken sinks for months. Why not just fix them? Same with a stall in the bathroom. Two months and its just closed, not for COVID social distancing, just because the gym is too cheap to fix it.The air conditioning should be turned up or something and maybe replace the air filter because its dank the humid in there. Its pretty gross. There is one elliptical that could easily be fixed by being oiled so it no longer squeaks but no... let it squeak. Much of the cardio equipment is wonky and needs repairs. The weight room upstairs is always packed and the equipment is all shoved together awkwardly. This gym could EASILY fix these problems... but no. Do nothing. Let it all sit in disrepair.
This branch is too busy even at 5 in the morning and has only 1 incline bench for bench press. However I love to come here for spa. I love the steam room and the pool and jacuzzi outdoors where you can chill out after the sauna. I wish the showers could give colder water; way too warm for after sauna shower.
Seems like AC doesnt work properly at this location, but overall the place is fine. However, it is really annoying that after taking a trial day at this location I keep receiving so many calls from sales people, even though I told them I decided to sign up for a different gym. I also keep getting numerous of emails.
This is the best facility in this area, management is and always will be below standard due to poor hiring standards and underdeveloped training of service teams, this is a corporate issue which causes the frustrating trickle down affect of dissatisfaction at all of the locations in this area.Staff and sales persons sadly are mirrors of their leadership and this will never improve until corporate makes the choice to focus efforts on consumer care.Parking is ridiculous and seems to be an issue which cannot be resolved. Corporate planning disaster.Equipment and classes are very good.Classes can be overly crowded and not managed well.Location interior has the nicest design in the area.Great location/area but it has heavy traffic in the mornings and after 3p until 7p.Cleanliness is adequate but certainly could and should improve especially in the locker room, shower, and bathroom.Older equipment should be replaced, I have been hurt as have others by sharp edges or broken pieces.I have witnessed and experienced several issues with the men who “juice”, a steroid use which causes an obvious personality defect, it prompts persons who overuse the drug to verbally attack or simply behave aggressively, and there is a distinctive oder that is secreted from persons who use steroids that cannot be masked by cleaning products or air sprays.Obviously, there isn’t much that can be done about that but be mindful to not encounter them if possible.Within a 6 miles radius, this is the best LA Fitness location simply for the area and design of this facility, all of the others are horrible.
Although the club is OK as far as equipment, they do not enforce the mask policy posted on the front door. Im sure its a daunting task for staff to have to go around and tell thoughtless people to put on and/or pull up their mask, but its a gym, people are in close proximity, huffing and puffing! This is the very reason businesses are having to institute proof of vaccination requirements. Think of your own health and of those around you so we can be done with this!
I have repeatedly asked to have my membership canceled and the manager, Osiris, says all he can do is leave notes but the system will keep automatically billing me. Every week he gives more excuses about having to wait a little longer. He refuses to put me in touch with someone who has the ability to cancel. Am I really just supposed to keep paying fees for services I don’t want anymore? How is this legal?
This is the only LAFITNESS that is always clean but too many guys not from this area coming to play basketball here and the atmosphere changes every time the basketball court opens and they are always fights on the basketball court and you need to keep your eyes open with your stuff but thats only when the basketball court is open.
Great location but an awful gym if you want to use free weights. This location has been over-sold so that any time you go, its packed. I constantly had to wait for benches as well as weights easily tacking on 30+ minutes per workout. Much of the equipment needs to be updated as its old. Members are horrible about racking their weights and I never saw anyone cleaning except in the locker rooms which could use a remodel. No towel service either.
I always love going there to work out and move instead of sitting on my chair in front on my desktop all day. The equipment are in great condition and there is a huge selection to choose front. the staff are very nice and friendly which is never a delta. I love this gym especially than other gyms because it is new, huge, and well ventilated.
The reviews are mixed up of each la fit so this is of the la right near universal studios as there is another down the st. Came in today to workout it was jam packed in the middle of the day. I ended up doing a shorter workout but felt the gym was super nice so wanted to comment on that. Outdoor pool is super cool and the layout is good. It is a really nice gym and even though I had a shorter workout today i enjoyed the gym.
Great location, corporate branding and focus on health and fitness expanding upon exposure to diet, training styles visually on the TV, providing programs and education to retain and motivate members is lacking, gym organization can use improvement, general gym etiquette is low, TVs are wasted on news channels and distractions of the goals for which all ho to the gym...escape and self care.Valet is good but NOT welcoming at all. This has tons of potential but seriously not done at any level to push health and fitness only memberships.
Customer service front desk was the worst started in on my guest that came in first time there he needed to take a picture fine he needed to sign he needed to give her his name and last name she types of stuff in the computer I mean it was really ridiculous we didnt really have to do that its never happened before so she was not a great representation of the club I felt harassed to make a long story short escalated Im not bringing my guest back again I was harassed by other two people that were there later on coming up to me at the gym while Im trying to get in the jacuzzi too distress it was a horrible experience
Definitely one of the better locations in the franchise.LA Fitness is generally a budget health club. This one is relatively very good. Clean, well lit though still fluorescents. Locker room is nice though still no towels. Equipment is in good condition and good selection. And you can tell that many of the people here come often.
We highly discourage people from subscribing with LA Fitness. During the pandemic they have been financially taking advantage of members by billing them for unprovided services. They also removed customer service to make it extremely difficult to reverse the charges or cancel memberships. Some members report still receiving fees after trying to cancel more than a year ago.
Love this place there parking which some near by one dont have. I check in late evening pass 9pm and every thing is available. There is a good amount of people in and even then machines are available as well as weights. Its does not have every like other LA fitness have such as pool and/or court but I dont mind because I dont use those sources. There is how ever a section for cycling apart from a clear floor for multiple use which both are open for your use. I would recommend if you are the area to go to this LA fitness.
Too crowded. Free parking is great. Love the view when you work out looking over the freeway. The machines are a bit old and the weights are never where they are supposed to be. You can never find anyone who works there when you need one. The receptionists spend all day gossiping rather than helping.
One of the best LA fitness you can find. Looking so new all the equipment are good and maintained well and has spinning classes too. Had a basket ball court and a warm pool Jacuzzi and sauna too. Love this place! Has parking too .Has an in place protein juice store too.
Parking is impossible, they take up most of the spots with the free valet but obviously you have to tip them at least a dollar, and if you go to the gym everyday that adds up on top of your membership. They should just open all the spots first come first serve. The front desk is super annoying, you have to walk up and wait for them to hold up the scanner for your key tag instead of it just being up on the desk so you can just scan and go. It creates a line and its impossible to ask them anything because they are juggling scanning tags, answering the phone and helping customers! Why not just leave it on the desk?!Other than those annoying points, the classes are great and the gym had a lot of good equipment.
I went to this LA Fitness and got a temporary membership for 60$ (refundable after a week or so), so i can try other gyms and pick the one i thought i could afford. One of the gentlemen kept pushing me to just get the membership, but I didnt want to yet.I come back a week later and tell the same man that I found a gym that I liked and wanted a refund. He kept telling me the gym I was going to was closing down, when in fact that was not the case. He kept pushing me to make my decision on the spot. He said stuff like Have you seen their equipment? Youll be back in a month. Of course they wont tell you theyre going out of business. They just want your money. No sir. You just wanted my money. You were talking trash and trying to convince me to join LA Fitness, not out of concern for me and my health, but for my money. The facility is nice, the people there are not.
I am a member of this gym I came here for years I had not come for a few months and now that I come the valet parking has all the parking lot how horrible the truth is that horrible because I came in the afternoon Eh come at 1 in the afternoon come to the 6 oclock in the afternoon and always parking is full of zeal, they are full, they have all the parking. What is wrong? How bad it is that this park has been put on so this gym is not worth coming anymore
I joined the LA FIT Universal about 2 months ago. I love it! All the locations I go to, LaVerne, Pasadena and Dallas have close to the same layouts, nice staff and great instructors. I take just about all their different classes and LOVE IT! I havent had any issues with the parking at Universal location. When it does get full, they offer free valet, so you cant beat that!I recommend LA Fit to any/everyone. It has something for everyone.
One of two favorite clubs followed by Westwood. Renovated late last year with new floors, newer machines, friendly staff and clean for the most part. There is a smoothie/snack bar with a TV. Always packed like sardines and limited parking during the weekdays. Come before 4pm on weekdays and or before 9am on weekends-get in a solid all around session, in and out in an hr. Happy Lifting!
Was promised that this location would be offering towel service by the membership department 6 months ago. Still hasnt happened. 5am (when they open) Saturday and Sunday morning look forward to a locker room filled with used paper towels brown dirty pathway on white floors, and no juice bar. No staff aside the person scanning our barcodes before letting us in. Who would open for business halfway?! Sucks for me because now I have to go out of my way (to hollywood) on my way to work.🤔🤨🤮
Nice gym but equipment isnt able to deal with demand of an almost always packed gym. (i.e. benches that are multi-functional as opposed to only flat or only incline or only chair benches) They also removed some parking a few years back and now you might have to wait in a decent line to park in the middle of a week day.
PRO:It appears it went though remodeling recently with some new equipment in there.CON:There still some old equipment left in there including the bikes in the spinning class.OVERALL:I like how it looks and its a good workout gym. But I still like the Van Nuys and Hollywood locations. You can read my reviews there.
Dont let yourself be talked into signing up for a membership if youre not really sure about getting one. They will do everything to persuade you, but after you have signed up, it is incredibly difficult to cancel your membership. I have tried canceling my membership for over one month now, still with no result, and am really annoyed at how much time (and money) my membership has cost me.
My preferred LA fitness and home gym, its the OG LA Fitness at Universal City. Its famous for its location, which can be seen from the Hollywood 101! Nice heated pool, sauna and lockers . My only complaints are the equipment in the free weight area, which we could use more of and in good condition . And the inadequate stretching area provided .It would greatly improve the place if there was more space for stretching , with better supporting equipment and amenities.
I started going to this gym a week ago and so far it meets my expectations. I was a member of 24 hour fitness (noho and Sherman oaks) for 2.5 years.I am doing personal training sessions which are great and the monthly fees are less than 24s. Although this LA location doesnt have towel service OR a suit mate spin dryer for my swimsuit.David Campbell is my PT concierge and he really cares about the place. I tend to be picky and enjoy pointing out the negative and he is willing to listen.I have taken a cycle class and it was okay. The bikes dont have water bottle holders and the room was frigid. I sweat a lot and I felt like icicles were dangling from my nipples. Also the music selection was inferior. (At least from a 24 year old gay mans perpective) pump up the jams yall.
The equipment is decent but they probably break at least 5 health codes violations daily. The gym is not clean ( often neither are the members ... showers are not required before entering the pool or sauna/steam room. And members use these facilities often fully clothed, sweaty and with sneakers on...its truly disgusting and unsanitary) and the pool is so typically over chlorinated that you cant breath in the entire gym on 2 floors... on top of which there is no ventillation of fresh air. You are as likely to leave with shortness of breath and a sore throat as you are to build muscle tone. Ive also seen under age children on the gym floor hanging on the equipment and small non service dogs on the gym floor as well. You will typically have your workout disrupted by a member talking on their phone next to you at volume 10 in order to hear themselves over a stairmaster. No one ever replaces the weights on the racks. Occasionally its quiet and civilized. But the norm is chaos.
I wish they would come to understand that bad customers chase good ones away. There are too many jack-offs permitted to take weights from designated areas, and leave them where they dont belong. This creates a terrible client service experience! To allow the dumb-asses to disrespect the rest of us by not putting the weights back where they belong, is a form of TERRORISM! They are permitted to treat the rest of us like we are slaves who work for them. Its f+++king b+++ S++t!!! It needs to be corrected.I blame the mismanagement of this facility for this. The personal trainers who set a poor example are to blame as well. Mediocrity has become an epidemic. We Americans need to get back to always doing our best to achieve greatness, and we need to show respect and common courtesy in the way of picking up and putting back your f+++ing weights! If LA Fit does not correct this, they will surely suffer the same demise as the Bally franchise they took over, as they are making all the same mistakes. Caring only about new memberships, while neglecting the current client base...IDIOTS!
Extremely disappointed with the front desk guy today. Came in around 9pm for a class and was treated extremely rude because he was too lazy to actually look my number up via phone number and actually see I had a membership. He was going off when I canceled a year ago. I even told him that I received an email about re activating my membership, and did just that. I will be discontinuing my membership AGAIN! I wasted my time driving to the gym, when all I wanted was to take a class; just to be treated so rude when I walk in...????... why am I even paying for this membership here when I can just go to 24 hour fitness.
One of the newer and better L.A. Fitness facilities in the area. Well-maintained equipment, everything I need for resistance training. I dont use the aerobic classes, but they have a variety (bikes, yoga, boxing, etc) with good equipment in 2 group class rooms and a large array of stationary cycles, stair, and elliptical equipment, with rows of TVs to match. It is more spacious than the Studio City facility down the Ventura about a mile. That one was a Ballys and has the strip mall, downstairs cave for lifters feel.
My home gym of LAFT ! Its school .by reputation and origin and famous for being on the 101 freeway tour route. One of my admitted favorites, its tucked into a hill by Universal Studios, overlooking. the city,.A lot of good looking people in this gym which is a huge motivator.. My one complaint is parking . This gym is always congested and always a waits id you go during rush . Otherwise friendly staff staff , friendly trainers , a to. Of free weights and machines and an almost warehouse sized floor for cardio equipment . Yeah, swdunsrekt one of the best la firnwsss . send great members .
It’s a good gym and has potentional, but they cannot keep good quality instructors or qualified instructors for the particular classes. There is no consistency which is a total bummer. So if you are a class person, it’s a hit or miss. Lately it’s a miss and I’m thinking about switching it up.
I have been a member at LA Fitness for awhile now and usually have a good experience at every location I go to (the weights/equipment I need is there, everything is clean, etc), but today I needed a kettlebell and the only place in the facility I could find one was in the personal training section. I was told by a personal trainer that not only could I not use any of the 8 kettlebells sitting there since they had to be available for anyone doing a personal training session (which I can sort of understand), but there are also no kettlebells anywhere else in the entire facility!! Why in the world arent there kettlebells available for the rest of us who dont need/want a personal training session? Do I have to buy my own kettlebell and bring it to the gym anytime I want to use one? Certainly with LA Fitness considerable resources you can afford a few more kettlebells so I dont have to cut my workout short, and I find it completely unacceptable that I cant use a kettlebell that nobody else is using, even if it is in the personal training section. Either buy more kettlebells or change you policy around using weights in the personal training section.
Ive been to a ton of gyms across the country. This is by far the worst one. No parking available at pretty much every hour but always 5-6 open valet spots.Concistety a line at the door since they cannot handle talking and scanning at the same time.Billing always messed up with no fix available.
The worst customer service gym I have ever been to. The so call manager, Andrea, ignore me the whole time I was trying to ask questions. Never made eye contact with me, and asked for my ethnicity because of no California idea. I had my Mexican Passport because I was visiting from TJ. All I wanted to do was work out.
Thanks G for a while with him to get the Mazda late next week holy cow that is the case then I will be there in the house for a bit and we can go to a meeting in the afternoon I was just saying I dont know what to do is going on a trip and I dont want ya I can do that but idk what time you will get a chance can you call Im in a little while ago and said he would have a hard hat and a Mexican coke for a few hours but by the time I got to see it in the house but I have a few things to get really into it was just saying I dont want ya I think so too I need to get my car to get the ball off the phone with my mom and and I dont know how to respond to that you know that I will be in the house by summer.
VERY RUDE trainer Bryan...and Manager Tiffany does not care about the the business.HORRIBLE CUSTOMER CARERUDE to customers ...boldly caught in a lie and still backs her own story....wow.... LA fitness.... you need new EMPLOYEES...TRAINER BRYAN TOLD A FEMALE CUSTOMER TO FIND A WOMANS MACHINE BECAUSE HE WANTED THE ONE SHE WAS ON!!! MANAGER TIFFANY... BACKED UP BRYAN.......NEED I SAY MORE??????

2022-04-20This is one of the cleanest and newer (in terms of equipment) la fitness location that I have ever been to. The lockers themselves are always clean. The gym itself is clean and the machines are all in great condition. My only complaint is they hire young kids to run the gym. During covid nobody enforced the mask mandate inside.Parking is never really an issue as there’s the parking structure and the lot behind the gym. This is definitely one of my favorite locations in the valley in comparison to the other gyms.

2022-06-03Signed up for “non-renewing” 6 mo. membership 11 months ago that they won’t stop charging me for, won’t cancel despite multiple attempts because due to work I cannot come in when managers (might) be around and they won’t stop harassing-ly calling me. Can’t speak to the facilities as Covid numbers got worse pretty immediately after I bought the initial membership and I never actually went. Highly recommend if you like being told “oh yeah, the renewal is kinda hidden in the fine print” and “oh yeah no, that sucks, we can’t cancel for you though”

2022-04-24Machines are constantly out of order, half of the TVs are also rarely on, and theres a plumbing leak behind the stair masters that surfaces every few months. Staff also rarely look up from their phones to acknowledge anyone. Place needs love and service needs an overhaul.

2022-03-30This la fitness is truly Special, the machines are great and are always clean, great crowd of people who work out high class people of all colors and race who mind their business and are kind if I’m in of help. The staff is honestly super nice including Colton, Asha, especially Suany H. The general manager who will truly meet the needs of her clients and will always help anyone super super nice lady always smiling and always in great mood bringing a great energy to the staff and gym attendants. Great place 10/10 recommended.

2022-05-20Its ridiculous, only 4 bikes same model and every week 1 or 2 bikes have problems and it takes 20 30 days to fix it to break again in 7 days, this gym has thousands of students, it needs new equipment.they dont do maintenance, bikes damaged for more than 4 weeks, the maintenance person goes to the gym and doesnt fix it, the gym needs a renovation, bad quality everything. All machines old, the floor is dirty, very dirty, it looks like it has never been vacuumed, disgusting.

2021-09-27This is my favorite gym and all of Los Angeles. The pool is beautiful and outdoors so you can actually enjoy swimming. The hot tub is always clean. The steam room excellent. The crowd is super nice. The people that work here are amazing. Front desk is always so nice and welcoming and always has the answers to your questions. The classes are well taught and not overcrowded and super fun. I could go on I just love this gym that’s all there is to it.

2021-08-04I will never ever go to this facility again. Although the facility itself isnt half-bad, and the equipment is up-to-date and reliable, everything else is basically horrible about this facility.A lot of the people that go to this facility are clearly gang members and Street people. My first day there, two Hispanic American men tried to start with me for no reason. Literally, they wanted to fight just because I looked up at them while they were staring at and talking mess about me the whole time. When I went up to the front desk agent and I asked her was this abnormality at her gym, she basically told me that the people there are territorial but will eventually warm up to me. I could not believe that she fixed her mouth to say such a thing.Had anything going down, and I was forced to defend myself, that entire facility would have blamed the ordeal on me. I also think that the locker rooms are very dirty and disgusting. They dont put enough Pride into actually cleaning it up let alone picking up the trash as they go throughout the day.I would not recommend anyone going to this gym if you are not prepared to put up your dukes and fight someone because they just feel like fighting. When I go to facilities, I go there to work out not to get into fistfights.

2022-03-12Stacks on stacks of cardio equipment and a cozy arm/chest section, but Im a deadlifter through and through, and I cant give a fifth star because theres no deadlift/weightlifting platforms. Other than that, well rounded place

2021-08-25The facility and parking are pretty good. The music is excellent now compared to what was playing about a year ago. My biggest complaint is this Jim’s lack of lower weight dumbbells. In the entire gym there is one set of 15 pound dumbbells and one set of 20 pound dumbbells. That’s it! They need to add more lower weight dumbbells to the dumbbell rack

2022-03-27Big facility which is great. Also has a pool, basketball court, kids area and a juice bar. When it isnt crowded I feel more at ease, especially with this pandemic. Many that workout here wear their mask properly but a lot do not. Management walks around to check but seems to be selective about who they approach. That is my one pet peeve about this gym.
