Called ahead to check on parking. They said they offered validated parking but still had to pay. Then when I showed up they said I was supposed to call ahead and made me sit and wait. After waiting for ten minutes while watching the employees on their Instagram accounts, I asked again if I could go ahead and work out (since no one was going to talk to me about whatever they needed to talk to me about), they rolled their eyes and told me to go ahead.
8/25/19 Still only ONE linear leg press. One rope cable.Always packed. The restroom is Long Beach but at least you can do cardio on the way to take a leak if you make it. Update: Still only ONE linear leg press for the whole place and one rope cable. The calf machine is always broken
Today, I entered the gym and scanned the barcode on the mobile app for entry. After scanning my barcode, Janet immediately asked If I had my ID. I responded Why would I need my ID? Ive visited this location and countless other locations across the country without an issue. She then proceeds to tell me that its because there isnt a picture of me on file. I told her thats a complete lie, and showed her my phone which clearly showes a picture of me beneath the membership barcode in the LA Fitness mobile app.She shrugged her shoulders and proceeded to tell me how there wasnt one on her screen and demanded that I remove my mask to take a picture. Ive been visiting this location for months and shes personally checked me in numerous times before without incident. I told her that I didnt feel comfortable removing my mask and she said that I had to. Not once did she ask if I was vaccinated, take a temperature scan or anything to ensure the safety of other members before demanding that I remove my mask. The pandemic is NOT over! Nor does she know my health status. There is a new variant of COVID (The Delta Variant) that is making headlines worldwide thats more contagious than any other variant. The gym was full of people without masks which is fine for them, however I choose to protect myself by wearing a mask. No member should be forced to remove their mask while the pandemic is still going on. This happened at the most heavily trafficked area in the gym... The entrance! The entire time that she was demanding that I remove my mask.. she was wearing one to protect herself. Shes a complete JOKE!I found this situation deeply troubling and Im terminating my membership due to it. No one should have to compromise their health or deal with a rude and nasty operations manager.Ive personally witness her arogrant and nasty attitude towards other members but today was the last straw. This is Los Angeles... There are plenty of other gyms who appreciate members and respect their wishes to protect themselves.Theres a brand new gym downtown that everyone is talking about, so Ill take my business there. Besides ... This gym is small compared to the other LA Fitness Locations... Not to mention the Equipment is always broken, They still have not returned to regular hours and members have to deal with a nasty operations manager who foolishly thinks shes doing members a favor when LA Fitness is heavily in debt and needs every member they can get to stay afloat.
Management is the downfall of this gym. New gym or remodeled gym still the same problem. For instance, classes get canceled and they dont take the time to update the app or a simple freaking announcement at front. Getting to this gym is a nightmare, parking is chaos then you show up for your class but no. It got canceled. Yeah I canceled my membership too. BOOM
Absolute cesspit.I cancelled my membership last year on account that I wasnt going, and the only thing losing weight was my wallet every month in membership fees.I rejoined this past weekend. (They were offering a sweet deal via online registration.) Im filing this under forgot how bad it was till I entered back into the trenches. Same as I left. Numerous broken treadmills due to misuse by members stomping on them rather than running at speeds appropriate to their capacity. No one wiping equipment after using it--I dont care if sweat on it or not, wipe it!! This morning, trash all over near the cable equipment, and my favorite part of my workout today, was when the custodian swept a dirty paper towel on my foot without apologizing. And thats another thing I forgot about this dump; the staff are so rude. I remember last year I rearranged my schedule for a trainer who I was supposed to meet at noon but he had to reschedule for 5 pm instead. I came to the front desk (5 minutes early) and there he was, behind the desk, standing around doing nothing; telling me that Im early. I told him Id be up by the elliptical machine...never saw the dude. Never bother to come up, and disappeared when I came down looking for him. Complete joke. And, this evening, I get a voicemail from Charlie from LA Fitness to call him back. Called him back; put on hold for nearly 5 minutes.Even the members are slow and move at only two speeds: slug and slug in a coma. I mean, its a gym...move!!
I have been to many LA fitness locations, by far this is the most dirtiest one I have been to. I think the client who go to this gym are not very curious of the others. People use the weights and leave them all around. Paper used to wipe the benches all over the floor. In the other hand the management pay no mind to the place. Broken cable machines at least 4 that I noticed. Did not see one person cleaning, no one was walking around organizing the place. It was a mad house, very disappointing.Note to the management. You are providing a service. It’s your home, you let us the opportunity to come workout. When you see people leaving weights messy don’t be scared to ask them to put the weights back where they belong. Hope i get to work out in a more organized gym next time.
Terrible management. Specifically the morning manager, Janet. Extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. Her front desk staff provided false information regarding a day pass, when I brought it up, Janet got aggressive and took it personal. The gym on the other hand looked decent, given covid protocols.
This is a small but very complete gym (without a swimming pool), the gym staff is very kind, right now in the middle of re-opening after pandemic closure they would work mon- fri since 6am until 8pm, sat and sun they cutted some hours, it is a very convenient location in dtla with public transit very close, you practically have the metro 7th center station in the basement, the gym is located in the shopping location the bloc la where you can find atm, stores, Starbucks and healthy places to dining, a huge and very relaxing plaza and it is awesome you have almost in one place, even in front of the gym you have a gnc store. I will give them 5 stars when. They open the restrooms and lockers
Brenda was super rude when I was checking in, I called and they said I didnt need to make an appointment with a guest pass and I got there and they said I did, there was not one machine that wasnt occupied, literally the worst gym Ive ever been to, planet fitness is terrible but LA fitness managed to hit an even lower low than Planet fitness...horrible location, service and attitudes
Decent gym but gets crowded in the mornings and evenings. Weights are all over the place (but then it is the case at many LAF locations). There are only two squat machines which are hard to find unused. Some of the equipments are quite old and they don’t get replaced soon. Shower and locker room areas are average.
I dont know why I see a lot of complaints about this gym. Compared to other gyms in downtown LA, this one stands out as one of my favorites. Clean place, great people and even when there are no machines people let you work in. I tried this gym through their free week pass and I would recommend it if you want to try it for a month. If I would live near there and not at my university, I would definitely get a membership !
The gym is newer which is nice but the equipment isnt. Even worse is they are very slow to fix anything. They have 3 flat benches but one has been out since they opened in June. The facilities are not very well kept. It seems like no one is in charge of re-racking the weights at all ever as the dumbbell rack is a horrible mess at literally all times. Youll find random weights and dumbbells all over out of place which makes finding the weights you need difficult at times. If you go during the busy hours, youre basically screwed and forced to snipe equipment because they very clearly dont have enough for the amount of people there.I go around 7am and even then it can be hard to find an open rack. They dont have a sauna, which I was told was intentional to keep people from staying too long. I think thats a shame and it says a lot about the clubs mentality towards hospitality. If you can get in at the right time, you will be able to lift to your hearts delight bit otherwise I say stay away and find a smaller cheaper place.
Since this is the only location covering the downtown market of the densely-populated city the entire franchise is named after, you would think the LA Fitness in DTLA would be decent. Not so much. Of all the locations I’ve ever been to, this one seems easily the smallest in size. Which is wild because it’s also extremely busy as you can imagine it would be in such a commercial area. The size of this gym and the amount of equipment they have doesn’t come close to meeting the demand for the area.To put it in perspective, I live within walking distance of here but this location is still a 3rd place resort for me, behind the ones all the way out in Alhambra and Mid-City. I go to LA Fitness 4-5 times a week and of those, I come to this location maybe 2-3 times a month. The time I spend driving to other parts of town is justified over the time I waste at this gym walking around waiting for machines or weights. The times when I’m too tired to drive and I think otherwise, I usually regret it as it leads to wasted time and/or leaving without having gotten my full workout.Other than that, my only gripe is that maintenance is underwhelming. All the machines are up now, but when a machine is down, it could be months before it gets repaired. Again, this is in spite of the fact that people are circling the floor like hawks trying to find machines they can use. Their front mini-lockers have had a sign on them for weeks saying they don’t have the key to reopen any of the lockers (I don’t know if they lost it maybe). But you would think they would have gotten the key remade, or ordered and installed new lockers by now. But right now, if you forget your code or if your locker jams, I guess you’re stuck paying for your own locksmith to open THEIR locker for you. Wifi is also down right now too. There is no cell/internet signal (in case you like to stream music while you workout) because The BLOC (plaza where it’s located), is technically underground. So you have to try and bum off what little wifi signal you can get from Macy’s or The BLOC.The only good thing about this location is that they have friendly staff. But then again, that’s not unique to this location.
I just moved to DTLA from Huntington Beach and was happy to know that there is an LA Fitness 1/2 a mile from my apartment complex, since my apartment complex lacks a few machines that I need, and I already have an LA Fitness membership. I go this morning and was disappointed!! The machines are old and not well maintained. LA Fitness is constantly remodeling their other fitness centers, why are they leaving this one the way it is?! Don’t think I’ll be returning to this one unless it is remodeled and they bring in new machines that are up-to-date and work well.
Terrible customer service. I went in hoping to receive a tour of the space and hear information about membership and private sessions. The young lady at the front desk wouldnt look up from her computer when I greeted her, and told me wait while while the sales person was finishing up a tour. I waited a while, and look around a bit. After some time I went back to the front desk and asked the young lady if she had any information or materioshe could provide on private sessions while I waited. She said, No, and the two people here who can give you info are busy. One is doing a fitness assessment, and the other person youre waiting for and theres three people ahead of you so it might be a while.I asked her why she didnt communicate before that there were 3 people ahead of me. She just said she was sorry and went back to her computer. At that point I left.I only have two stars because from what I saw the space looked clean and there was a lot of equipment. But they wont be receiving my business due to terrible customer service.
Nice facilities with new machines, free weights and cardio machines such as treadmills and ellipticals and bikes. Small 2 lane pool. Room for cycling classes and also group classes as well. Clean locker rooms and shower.Parking is located in the Bloc parking structure and is 2 hours with validation.Things that could be better: ventilation is poor and that is a key for any good gym, the machines dont have functioning tv stations and the layout is strange with multiple levelsOverall is a good gym for a quick workout in DTLA and would use it again.
Tried this gym for a week after ending my membership with Golds. Gym is pretty clean but the equipment are not strategically placed. No dry/wet sauna. Locker area is pleasant and clean with very good lighting. But,l the pool area didnt look fun and clean. Oh, I ended up going back to Golds dtla.
I visited the club about a week ago and experienced a toilet that would not flush.I understand electronics fail and these types of things happen periodically.I had to explain to a janitor at closing time that I’ve tried many times, but just couldn’t get the toilet to flush. I get the feeling that he deals with this exact issue far too often. I am going to revisit the club and see if it is fixed before I settle on the review.
One of the best 24 hours fitness in my book. Very clean. Never too crowded (except the classes, call ahead). Also at this one I dont get accosted by kooky-lou men. Teehee. All in all a great experience. Their childrens drop off service is great too. My daughter loves it.
I’m going to highlight the good and not so good about this place:Good:* It’s cheap and I live 5 blocks away* Paige and the rest of the guys are super nice and give a great service* Your membership includes cool classes like Zumba or indoor cycling* They have a poolNot so cool things:* It can get crowded even early in the morning!* When machines or anything else breaks down it takes a looong time to get them fixed. It happened with the pools heater (it was not nice to swim in cold water last November) or the elevator, which is malfunctioning every now and then and it’s slooooow as hell* can’t they do maintenance when it’s closed?* Showers can get crowded easily. So do the machines* In the afternoon/evening the environment can get a little hostile thanks to some macho men, but I guess that’s usual in gyms...
New machines, clean, ample locker rooms friendly staff. Validation for parking good for 1.5 hrs. Need to pull into parking structure and take elevator to P level. Gym will be on left hand side once you enter. Grandpa Jorge gives it a 7 out of 10 gym rating. Very packed with people.
Great Gym. Love the atmosphere. But Don’t park your bike here. It will get stolen. Like mine did. I had a pretty thick long bike lock on mine and parked it underneath parking structure in designated bike racks. I entered gym at 7pm. Staying an hour til closing at 8pm. Went down to bike racks. My bike was not there! So disappointing. I get it’s downtown LA. But geeez how in the hell does someone just patrol bike racks that are downstairs underneath where Valet parking is and are which bikes are stealable
I like that this LA Fitness is conveniently located in the heart of Downtown. This location is pretty small with a limited number of treadmills and weight machines. They get a lot of foot traffic from people who work and live in the area. The locker room is surprisingly clean and even has a steam and sauna room! They offer 2 hour free parking in the mall so if you get lazy and finish your workout early you can even do a little shopping.
Been coming to this gym for about a year since I started working in downtown. So convenient to come after work for a workout.. I never felt like I was getting a good workout with the equipment ( since Im sure I had no idea what I was doing) so I decided to give the classes they provide a chance. Best decision Ive made! Liz ( the Zumba instructor) is probably one of the best they have at this gym. Not only is her class always packed with regulars and new comers but it feels like one big party while working out. Ive lost over 20 pounds on just her 4 classes a week. She motivates you and pushes you to do your best for that hour. I have tried the other zumba classes but none of the instructors are involved with you the way Liz is. Instead they stand in front of the mirror staring at themselves dance, without caring to see if youre doing the moves correctly. So with that being said Im very upset to hear they will be taking away Lizs classes for someone that is a more realistic instructor. Being overweight myself this is very upsetting and just not okay. After her last class of teaching I will not be attending this gym.
I just left the gym pretty annoying. I have a membership since 2017, always had guests with me. I was walking with my husband today and the front desk said that I’m not allowed to have a guest. Which bring me to the manager, we were already thinking about make my husband a member (I’ve talked to some really nice girl at hollywood location) anyways the manager was pretty rude and explain in a vainly way how much wood be and such. I get more upset because I DIDNT HAVE TIME, and I just left. Called to Hollywood and again I had amazing host explaining everything.
Nothing like it was supposed to be.. I used to go to this gym before the recent construction, and its nothing like it was advertised to be after the construction. Its a lot smaller and cluttered, without some of the amenities that were supposedly planned. For the amount of people living in the DTLA area, this gym is way too small. Even at slow times, this place looks packed, cuz the facility is so tiny...
Its. Alright gym yeah people complain a lot, but I mean its not so bad its been two weeks and I feel great being there. Although they did steal some dude stuff so I would advice pack your clothes and leave anything important in your car or at home. Overall its an good gym
HOMELESS USING THE BATHROOM????I enrolled to LA Fitness with the main purpose of using the pool for swimming. In order for members to get to the pool, we are obligated to go trough the women’s bathroom.Last Sunday when I entered the bathroom, I saw a homeless brushing her teeth, and she smelled really bad, making almost impossible to stay there. So I went swimming and when I left, I spoke to the front desk and asked why that homeless had to use a bathroom that is connected to the pool. I mean, with all the respect, if that person decides to go swimming I could contract several skin diseases!!!This is a very serious health matter.I was told by the front desk that the homeless is a member???? That she actually pays the membership? That’s very strange...Almost hard to believe.
This place is a dump. They have said renovations would be complete for over a year now. Wouldnt even step into the locker room/bathrooms. Disgusting, moldy, transient people. This location is enough to give the entire franchise a bad name. Staff is rude and until they gut this place both staff-wise as well as finally getting around to supposedly finishing their renovations, Equinox is well worth the extra money or Golds is not far either.
A very pristinely kept gym with various amenities, however, this place does have its problems. For starters the parking, the gym is located in downtown LA making it less attractive for those who have to commute here by car. Parking spaces can be very restrictive at peak hours and limited to 2 hours with validation. The facilities here are fairly new, however they are very small for the size of a community that is only growing like downtown LA. Peak hours are hectic to have a steady workout routine here because of the limited machines. Other gyms can have 2 of each type of machine. Not here, space is so limited that it means that often youll have several people waiting for you to finish your workout just to go immediately after you. This means therell probably be some interruptions during your exercise routines because youll probably have to wait for machines to be empty, especially for leg exercises. Moreover, Im noticing that almost all of the cardio equipment is salvaged. Now that in itself is not a problem, the problem is that many of the machines tend to be out of order very frequently. There’s also a very long line for some cardio machines during busy hours. Granted, all of the problems I listed pertain to the fact that peak hours can be frantic for such small gym. The staff are generally amiable and the facilities are very clean.
Probably the smallest, smelliest, and worst lay out of any LA Fitness Ive ever been to. Every time I visit downtown I come here and its always jam packed, not enough equipment and filthy dirty. Garbage on the floor, stains and dirt everywhere. The WiFi is basically useless. I really like LA Fitness, but this one is really terrible!
Just think of this we live in California the Nation Capital of Earthquakes and God forbid the next one is coming so who will put the Restrooms and Shower and Pool 4th Floors below ground ??????????????????????????????????????????? Whos idea was this while cars have 7 floors to park humans have to be underground in this gym !!! Thats a really really really bad design. This could be the best gym in California if the Sauna and Pool would be in the Top floor imagine the View !!!! Would be Amazing but instead they totally wasted that opportunity and put the gym underground. But in the plus side you get 2 hours Free parking in one of the most expensive parkings in the world $50 a Day because of the Sheraton hotel !!!! So if this is your gym enjoy it !!
Went inside here to work out, scanned my membership to get in and the. Was followed in into the locker room and asked to show my ID when I watched a group of guys come in with a basketball and only one of them scanned in. I don’t like to pull the race card but I’m mixed and the group of gentlemen were all white. I asked why they didn’t all have to scan to get in and the lady who wasn’t even standing there when they came in said she watched them scan in. I chuckled and said “ only the guy in the hat did but ok” and then she said she didn’t ask for my attitude and I was like I wasn’t even talking to you in the first place. Long story short I went and played basketball after my work out and told the guys what happened and they started laughing saying they never scan and come to find out two of the guys didn’t have memberships. Hilarious let me tell ya. I didn’t let it ruin my day and I didn’t cancel my membership because my home town La fitness has a awesome staff.
This is typical LA. But at the gym? Sad but I know they will be even more racists towards the customers now after all the bad reviews they will be receiving soon. I’ve only been here twice and the staff is stuck up and rude but I expect that in LA it’s the culture. I’ve tried talk to staff and they act like they don’t see or hear me. But after seeing how they treated Jim jones I know certain people are not welcome here and it not just typical stuck up Californians. They didn’t try to terminate my membership. But they treated me as if I didn’t matter. I didn’t complain because I knew I would have been treated the same way Jim was. He just had the courage to speak on it.
Front desk staff is nice enough but in general, not a great place to workout. Small, overcrowded, and weights are never in the correct place. Biggest complaint is that when things are broken (machines, elevator, etc) for whatever reason it takes months for things to get fixed.
This gym has been completely remodeled but its got some big issues, including the cardio area where treadmills are is incredibly hot when the sun is out (which in LA is almost every day). The AC is severely in adequate for that area. Theres 3 level but you have to go down to the lowest level to use the restroom. There is no restroom on the 2nd or 3rd level. The paper towel is often out in the locker room and on the work out floor. The hand and shower soap is also often empty and on top of that it is watered down so much you dont even need to turn on the water to wash your hands, you can just turn on to rinse. If youre taking a shower you better take your own soap. Additionally, the restrooms are often filthy. Theres often paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor. Its mostly in the evenings but still also happens during the day. They need to have a system of patrolling the bathrooms hourly to be sure everything is tidy.
You’d think the *LA* Fitness at the heart of LA would be the crown jewel in the LA Fitness chain. Not so. It could be one of the worst. Even after it’s supposed renovation, there is tons of broken equipment (what little equipment there is), trash strewn about, personal trainers who run 20 min late and don’t apologize for it, and WiFi that barely works! I keep trying to give this location a chance but it’s a truly miserable experience.
I really wish you guys would close later on the weekends. Im regretting the membership and considering UFC instead. Late night hours are so underrated and it sucks that LA Fitness doesnt have late night hours on the weekends. Its the only time I have available due to school/work. At least have Fri-Sun 10pm!!!! :( But this one is an ok gym overall lol. Its too small for a big a** city like Los Angeles but yeea ok yet here we are. (: PLEASE DO RECONSTRUCTION ON THIS GYM AND MAKE IT BIGGER/CLOSE LATER HOURS ON WEEKENDS, THANKS.
Ive been going to this gym since February of this year and I have had great workouts every time. EVERY. TIME.I have seen equipments that are scheduled for maintenance but I just switch to another alternative machine when that happens. And I have no issues at all. I guess these people clearly has no idea what theyre saying. LolI get what I pay for so I wont expect stellar facilities/amenities.People here are nice! Fellow members and the staff included. My only wish is....For you guys to stay open late! LolOther than that I am happy!Got my gainzzz bruh
Nice LA fitness...the new club is a big improvement over the old one.Pros:- Waaay nicer, larger, and cleaner than the old club- 3 squat racks- Pool- Free 2 hour parking with validation in the newly remodeled Macys centerCons:- No basketball court- Very slow to fix equipment. One of the bench press benches has been missing for several months, leaving an unusable bench. Also the majority of the treadmill TVs do not function correctly. Either channels are not available, volume doesnt work, or the TV doesnt work at all.- As others have said, the area where the treadmills are gets really warm for several hours during the day when the sun is shining in the area. Blinds would be an easy fix. Or another A/C vent.
An unfortunate circumstance regarding 2 employees within the same day (The Bloc) helped me decide to give Gold’s Gym a shot. Over the years LA FITNESS has proven itself to be a top shelf club overall. Change is good. It’s been a great 25 years LAF. Gone but not forgotten. I will recommend LAF but with caution regarding customer service at LAF The Bloc. Onward.
Poor customer service not friendly people including employees management not good enough they dont have hot water very often not enough employees to clean !!!!!!! They need improvements in so many areas or they will loose customers ...I cant believe this i had to go back to this location because of the rain and guess what still NO HOT WATER ,LOL maybe its my bad luck ok,whatever management sucks here in this location, the locker room is a mess equipment out of order for longer than 3 months like #99012 the one for the squats, equipment dirty and need reupholstered for months whats going on in this location is it just because latin people dont complain or what ? we pay the same price or not ? o and the employees the more that they earned in there the more rude they are the only friendly and nice are the cleaning employees lol that sucks .
Came to try out a guest pass, that was emailed to me before my drive to the gym. I am new to the area, will be PCSing in a month and wanted to give it a try.I Showed up to activate my guest pass, with my out of state drivers license and military ID and was told by Rocio that she would not activate my guest pass. She said because my DL was out of state....no where in my email did it state this. I reminded her I am active duty, and I do not change my address...so said come back when Im actually living there.....why? Why would I come back to a place that is.not friendly or helpful? It was an all around bad experience.
Dont come here... go to the one in Hollywood.its my 1st time here in months, probably since last year and the construction is inconsiderate to a members expectations. Why would I come to a whole in the whale Gym with no Ventilation and proper Equipment? Why!LA Fitness is cool and been with them since 2011. Just this location should close and reopen when finish. They are just hurting their awesome quality by keep this one open.
Just awful. Been going here about three months, so far there has been no hot water for the past TWO WEEKS. When asking when it will be fixed I just get a blank stare from reception with a I have no idea answer. Also I have seen several cockroaches in the showers. The bathroom is filthy and humid. Im very disappointed with the cheapness and extreme lack of professionalism from this club.
Honestly, This place is worse than just lifting a Cinder block. At least you dont get the troubles of their Employees watching you like a criminal on a Hunt. Besides that, Majority of their employees, were very Upfront with both my girlfriend, and my sister.Stating very disgusting and sexual things that were disturbing. I passed it off with my girlfriend (which she didnt take lightly, that Id allow that to happen) but when one of their employees said he wanted to quote on quote Watch her, tie her up, and have her open at all times I punched his lights out.Dont even get me started on the blatant racism to Black, Mexican, and Asian people...I swear in threw up as I left the facility.I called HR, but they were of absolutely no help.Im just glad it didnt ruin my family vacation.
I say for me its convenient especially when Im in the area, and the employees seemed nice when welcoming me to the gym, its a little constrained due to the construction but good atmosphere nonetheless, and my assessment with Adam was definitely educational on things I was unaware of. If you ever need a personal trainer, Adam is the guy.
The place is a mess. Nobody wipes the equipment down after they use it. My favorite is when its packed and the treadmills have about 2 or 3 people on them just looking at their phones without a care about anyone wanting to get on it. Poorly staffed, undoubtedly because its poorly managed.
The mens restrooms and showers are ALWAYS filthy: dirty seat covers, toilet paper and used towels on the floor. Excrement often makes the restrooms unusable. Why cant they keep it clean? Watch you dont trip over weights as many macho types think they dont need to replace them on the racks. Why not enforce the rules? What is the problem with the management?
I went to this gym after paying $10 for parking on to be treated by 3 women who had no interest in there job sitting down and ignoring me only to find out later after I had scanned in that I needed to leave the gym as they were not allowing people with a newer membership such as my self in past 9pm. Stay away.
Now I love my light brown brothers and sisters ............but there is no racial versatility at this location.its run by latinos.no whites,no blacks or any other flavor.which is crazy because dtla is racially mixed. most likely management is hiring only relatives.this is a problem we have in dtla, the latinos are predjudice and they only hire their own people. if whites or blacks did this, they would get checked and would have to hire a token black or white.but at least they got rid of the fleas. if you take classes here, be prepared to excercise to only latino music. theyve watered down the hand soap and it doesnt clean anything. the place smells like other peoples sweat and breath, gross! on top of that, this location charges the most to join.noticed most of the good reviews on here are from latinos. so it may be a better experience if youre latino. if they want more stars, need to be less predjudice.I try to avoid this location. when I do go, Im in and out in no more than 20minutes.culver city and sepulveda location are much more classy.
I used to go there, but there was a guy in the front desk giving me a hard time, every time I went there... In it was only that gym, because I saw other people just going in without showing membership, app or without saying phone number. For me it was the opposite, the guy told me that I had want to go in the gym I had to eater show membership or use LA fitness app only, not other apps or my phone. Sucks
I called today Sept 20th Thursday LA Fitness & asked the front desk if Isaac will be coming as a substitute of Maria to teach Zumba at 8:35am & they confirmed YES! (I called twice just to make sure.) It is already 9:55am & no Isaac so a guy from the front desk came down & informed us that he cancelled last minute... That’s not fair! So unprofessional of Isaac to cancel last minute... I hope the manager would do something about it...
WELL IF I WAS A SECRET SHOPPER*suggesting this gym to family &friends;1-Ripped down 4 of the 6 showers curtains mens bathroom, replaced NO!!!..(going on 2weeks!)2-No consistent WiFi(connects&disconnects )constantly!!! Explaination nope.3-Cannot allow a handicapped associate to come try out place.. or take aSHOWER!!! DUE TO THE HANDICAPPED SHOWER HEAD& HOSE HAS BEEN RIPPED &TIED TOGETHER BY...some MEMBERS .....Has it been replaced or fixed NO!!! (GOING ON A MONTH)still pushed aside.4-Mens(grown men)... stalls are constantly bombarded with waded up fecal tissue paper in the corners, not in the toilet where its supposed to go!? When explained to staff ,its laughed at,or a look of surprise but continuing. Is it healthy & sanitary hmmm.???5-Constantly running out of paper towels, especially in the bathroom ...the demand out weighs the efforts to replenish (suggestions of a DysonWindBlade hands free dryer) was ignored. Would it save money ?6-Constantly running out of soap in showers, when not working or empty...some members correct this obstacle by breaking the dispenser*(I guess this is how the message is relayed to janitorial staff...which I feel sorry for WHAT THEY GO THROUGH ON A DAILY BASIS, MY COMPASSION BUILDS with grit teeth)7-Direct TV channels are VERY LIMITED*and as staff member said, because we dont have enough members, some are deleted...these are normal broadcast stations???)*Has anything... been done,Solutions,Signs,Emails,Notices to rectify these on going situations....NOPE...SO join and see the things that you witness that are passed by and laughed about day after day...**Photos of these occurrences. .no words, just proof. But YOU still .....pay the monthly, because these are the Benefits I assume ;-|

A lot of equipment out of service. 👎🏽 I have to wait a long time to use the little good equipment that remains. I have to sign to use certain equipment. Yesterday I asked a staff member to help me and he told me to wait 5 minutes because he was busy on his cell phone texting Very rude.
Be aware of what you comment because they just might confront you with showing you what your review was lol .... although our opinions about a place is OUR opinion... Im thinking... they show and tell and read reviews and will actually look into who works out here and writes reviews about this location,.which is awkward if ya do (kinda like what Im doin right now lol) .... so if ya get looked at funny and have written a review on here or yelp... well... maybe its because of whatever youve written. I like that its convenient and thats about it. Certain trainers are koo :-) youll know it when u feel it.. Im kinda lost at this point..?... maybe itll be better when it expands. Cause its small for now.,and trainers...dont take all reviews so personally :-) its just peoples opinions.
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED BY PERSONAL TRAINER STEPHANIEthis place has stolen $360 from me and wont give it back despite me never agreeing to a contract and monthly renewals. this place is the absolute WORST. their employees are compulsive liarsDO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD INFORMATION. STAY FAR AWAY.
Watch out for hugo. he runs a bicycle class on tuesday at 6:45pm. he is a bully and wont challenge a real man. several people have seen him run up on, yelling waving his fists, and threaten to get physical with women working out in the bike room.this creepy needs to be stopped from attacking female clientele.

2022-03-11If I could give this place 0 stars I would. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SCAM. I was in a car accident and cannot attend the gym for the next 6+ months. They put my account on a freeze for 3 and said that’s the longest they can do. So they’re trying to charge an injured person $250+ for personal training sessions I cannot attend. They are ignoring my calls and emails and attempting to charge my card 3 times a day. I sent them medical documents and I’m still being ignored and they’re still trying to charge me.Before my accident I was a very active person and saw myself using this gym for a full year at least. After the way they’ve handled this situation I will never be back and will recommend any other gym over this.Accidents can happen, although they seem to be unaware of this. Don’t let LA fitness scam you

2022-03-25I actually like my DTLA location. The staff is the nicest LA Fitness staff I had and theyre really clean here. Its small but a good use of space.Only issue is that I originally signed up due to that 11pm closing time which has now become 10pm. Id appreciate if you gave your guest that extra hour back and keeping it that way.

2022-06-04Water fountain has been broken for a month every time I ask they tell me they don’t know when it’s going to get fixed equipment stays broken for multiple weeks at a time other than that it’s all right. The staff doesn’t really care about you though. They mostly treat you like an enemy. Also the Wi-Fi never works literally. I’m giving one star to hopefully create change, but I doubt they care enough.

2017-06-08Overall a nice gym, it looks very new and has lots of equipment. However, it is always really busy in the afternoon so you have to wait forever to use pretty much any machine. It also gets super dirty, the bathrooms smell disgusting.Their parking is also impossible to find, as it doesnt say LA Fitness anywhere - just so you know, they validate for 2 hours at the Bloc underground garage.

2022-03-30The manager *Alexandra Garcia* is beyond unprofessional! She lied about canceling my membership which caused me to be charged multiple times after “canceling” - When trying to communicate with her about the issue via phone several times .. she pretends to be on a conference call.

2019-04-27Why manager has to be sending me emails about to renew my membership now intimidating if my membership will end at the end of June and its April 24? My membership allows me to go everywhere not exactly with this location that but the way its terrible no phone service, nobody repairs the machines and are just a few the place is small and claustrophobic and the front desk staff are terrible so I appreciate that they dont push with this kind of terminating mails its annoying I have 2 completely full months
