Unable to keep continue with potential order cancelled without notice. I tried ordering 4 days in advance.Through email I enquired Wed, May 26, Customer, I would like to know how much it would cost me to order a 1 layered cake with a miniature ps5 and a man sitting on couch flavored crème cheese with vanilla breading.Bakery, Yes we are able to make something like this for you, however the price for a sculptured cake would be $500.00. Something like that has to be made out of fondant and can not be made out of whipped cream. Let me know if you would like to proceed, or if you would like to think of something different.Customer, The price is not good for me so what about just making the money Pocket? No sculpture. How much would that be? If the same price then Im just interested in the flavors of the cake. As for the shape of the cake a regular circle birthday cake. I WILL call FRIDAY to COMFIRM order.Bakery, sorry, we dont do the money pull-out from cakes.FRIDAY May 28 I went all the way to their location to pay they asked for what date I said June 1 they said no we cant do it I even went even further to try to get them to keep my order by saying okay what about June 2? they then told me they were not accepting orders. I wonder if I would have accepted that $500 order would they have remembered my email enquiry THEN?I didnt let them know it was me who had already emailed them but you would think that they would say you were the one who emailed us 2 days ago about coming in today, Friday? The one taking the cake order was communicating with the cashier I think the cashier was the owner or something. They were rude since I got there with an attitude from cashier. This was my first time being there. They have a sign on door that says 2 per family/party and 2 customers allowed inside sign is not clear to me. Is it 2 per family or only 2 customers? So they told me only 2 customers at a time but the sign also says only 2 per fam. that doesnt matter but at least make a clear sign if you cant even take my enquiry serious by not letting me know when I first contacted you about a potential order 2 days later. Unprofessional regardless of your say La Concha Bakery I have seen bad reviews and I am not the only one with the same feelings about similar things. After reading bad reviews Im happy I didnt order from here and didnt waste my money
Very good. Excellent pastries at a reasonable price. Very friendly staff and a big selection. Well setup for covid. Allowed two people at a time to enter. We waited in line outside but the line moved quickly. We had the guava empenada and mexican wedding cookies. Everything was very fresh. Highly recommend visiting when in Chula Vista.
I can tell by the long line that this must be the place ni CV for your sugar fix! LOL And they ask WHY so many people with underlying health conditions in California!! Editorial aside, the bread is very good, BUT then again, I only purchase the integral bread which is supposed to be whole wheat and sugar free. They SHOULD have more whole wheat/sugar free options, like at least bolillos, because if they sell at Mexican food supermarkets, they will sell with you too. But NO high fructose corn syrup. I cant comment on the rest as I do not consume it, but I can tell just by looking at it how sugary sweet it must be! A little on the pricey side too. Wish they had a more accesible location.
I love this bakery!best bakery ever! i got there my sons baptism cake and my wedding cake and they have done AWESOME job with them! they were beautiful as i wanted and delicious! i will for sure keep ordering my cakes here!also their regular bread and coffee are delicious!this is a bakery 100% recommended!thank you very much for all your awesome job!
Baked goods are OK, customer service so-so, you can find better Mexican pastries for less. Kind of pricey for the quality. Ive had better for less. The next day they were stale. Wasnt impressed. I was in a pinch, and had to buy cultural food item for an event, it was the closest in my route. Dont plan on returning. Thats about it.
A local bakery that if you going too fast in E street you might pass it. But make a point to go and try their large round jalapeño breads or the crusty and large french breads. My favorite are the large bolillos with the correct size for two to tree persons. They sliced for you if you like it. The selction of sweet breads is great and each has a very distinctive flavor. If you will see that some of the display windows is due to the high demand of those varieties and this reassured me that they do sell all their bread thus being fresh baked daily. The staff is always friendly and happy to see you as customer. With croissants and a good selection of beverages is a great spot to stop and pick up a great afternoon Merienda. As I always say, we are so lucky to have great business in our city. Try the concha with chocolate topping. simple the best.Follow me on twitter and face bookAlex Carrillo in FB@walexc1
In order to give this review all the accolades it deserves, you need a little background. I am a military wife, Ive been at this for a very long time. One of my oldest friends recently married into this lifestyle, and she and her family were then shipped to Guam. Shes got a teenager, a daughter under two and they just celebrated the birth of their youngest princess last month. Needless to say, shes homesick. She had posted on FB something about wanting some Pan Dulce, so I quickly did my research here in San Diego and formulated a plan. I came across La Concha with its exceptionally high rating, trolled the menu and decided Id give them a try. I reached out via email and Claudia generously got back to me. She worked with me on the schedule I needed (plan was to pick up fresh in the afternoon one day and ship out first thing the next morning), she had everything packed and ready shortly before pick up. I cannot tell a lie, I also indulged my children a little as well purchasing a few treats for the house.I brought all of these pastries and goodies home and began the arduous task of separating them, vacuum packing them, and then gently packing them in the postal box. They made the trip in 3 days, and when my friend opened up her box, and cut into the first package, everything was still fresh and soft. She said it tasted like home. So, at the end of the day, this bakery is not only a wonderful bakery with tasty fresh baked goods, the woman in charge is full of heart and thoughtfulness. She bent over backwards, confirming dates and times more than once, going over my order and making sure everything in my order was perfect. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious conchas, cookies, and muffins. Also, Jalepeno cheese bread as well.Id also recommend them to anyone looking to send the flavors of home to someone stationed abroad! Thank you so much Claudia and your team!! You guys are amazing!
I was just told by the manager that only 1 person per family are allowed but not one employee has proper PPE on. Makes no sense. I will not return to this store. To top it off the bread is over priced and not even that good anyways. Sorry to say it but ignorant Mexicans. If I could I would give negative stars.
Insulted. Waited in line. some customers were going in in pairs. the people in front of us went in as 2. When we finished our turn in line and went in masked up they asked my wife to leave because only 1 person per household? there is 2 people in there before us and now its our turn. Its valentines day and they ask my wife to leave when we trying to buy desserts so dumb. other people were going in as 2s yet we were targeted out so insulting.
Awesome bakery. Great service and wonderful products. I love the bolillos and the cheese and jalapeno breads. Nothing like a hot cup of coffee and some bread in the evening before settling in for the night. I will always be back here when in the area. Thank you, thank you...Jay
Their pan dulce is good (but a little expensive) so i decided to try their cakes. I asked for a cream cheese filling and they put whipped cream so you can imagine how tasteless it was. Totally disappointed!!!! I still cannot belive they didnt call me to mention that huge change. Or at least to apologize. Never going back! Youre better off going to a grocery store. Looked just like i bought it from one. And with that price i can buy 7 somewhere else.
Bread was good but customer service was terrible. The cashier had back turned towards customers brcause she was on her phone texting she went from having 2 customers in line waiting to 6. Once she started to charge us she was so nervous becauae of the line that while packing our bread she dropped 3 pieces.
Are you ready for the most decently priced, delicious, fresh, soul-reviving conchas that youve ever tried? I cant even believe the prices here. If this bakery was in LA, they could charge 10x! I cant wait to go back and binge on their conchas, donuts, and bavarian creams again. I willingly embrace the consequence of concha-based diabetes, if my conchas came from here. If you cant tell, I LOVE THIS PLACE!
Mexican pastries - small place, very authentic. Same selection as in Tijuana. For those unfamiliar with Mexican pastries: dont come here for health food, but if you want to indulge your guests or surprise a friend, come pick out one of each. (Pastries, I mean, not guests or friends.)
Incredible Bolillos- best in S. California, great traditional Mexican Panaderia treats and custom cakes that put supermarket cakes to shame. The owner Claudia is super nice. Support this latina business woman and her great products. P.S. The cream cheese Canastas & cinnamon Giant Orejas are to die for!
Called ahead to see if they carried Vegan options, person who answered said yes, that they carry Vegan options and had several available at the moment. I got there no more than 15min later and they literally had one Vegan option and only 2 pieces left. When I asked about the call they said they had made a mistake. 🤦🏻♀️

2021-10-07Best Mexican bakery in the area, we have been coming here for 15 years, the pan dulce is always fresh, even at the end of the day. The selection is vast and every type is clearly labeled by name and price. My favorite is the Cono, a flaky pastry filled with vanilla custard. Always delicious. The elephant ears are super crispy and full of flavor. They have groumet coffee to rival Starbucks, mocha Mexican coffee is fantastic. Customer service is always great, prices can be a little higher than other places, but worth it.

2022-05-30The absolute best Mexican Bakery Ive come across to date! I moved out of Chula vista & I still travel 30 miles to taste their delicious treats! If you put a bad review at this location, I cant trust your reviews. Hands down, the best Mexican Bakery in town.

2022-01-28Let me start out that the bread here is delicious! But is the customer service worth it? Nope! The only friendly service comes from the young lady...other than that the male customer service is bad. I came here since I was recommended, but just know that if its your first time coming here just come by yourself and no others. Because you will get kicked out by one of the bakers. Even if you take turns in your party to come in.

2021-08-30If you like Mexican pan dulce it’s ok. The service is pretty bad too. Every time I go they seem to have an attitude idk why. Also, they only let two people in at the same time but since the rest have to wait outside it takes a little bit too long to get in and out. If you are looking for donuts or cakes this is not it. They just don’t taste that good. The Mexican pan dulce is pretty basic but honestly the only reason I keep coming back it’s because it’s so close to my house. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

2022-04-09DONT BUY CARROT CAKE!Nice and clean place, but they claim to specialize in Mexican pastry and the carrot cake doesnt even have cream cheese cover, it was dry and plain, no carrot flavor or pecans found. I wished I had gotten to Walmart, thats how disappointed I was by this cake.

2019-08-03My personal opinion, but many friends and family agree: this is the best pan dulce bakery in San Diego hands down! Love the cream-cheese filled canastas and of course their amazing conchas! Stop in and try, its delicious! They also take cake orders and serve coffee and a few other food options.

2021-12-08Stay away from this bakery. The service is just bad plain and simple. The girls working there are miserable, they won’t even acknowledge you. A simple “we are busy, we will be right with you” goes long ways. The product itself is not extraordinary for the customer service to be this bad, sometimes we can put up with bad customer cause the product is out of this world but not here. The lady in front of me got smashed bread and ask the lady to replace it. The customer was even afraid to ask. Then me and my girl got totally ignored and skipped cause I ask if there was a system I need to follow to get service. The manager confronted me as well and said we have been in business for a long time your opinion don’t matter. I will make the drive to panchitas bakery next time or even north gate. The subpar bread is not even worth it.
