La Jolla Shores Beach aka Kellogg Park is best place to watch sunset AND enjoy a bonfire! We celebrated our 16 year olds birthday today, on one of the cleanest beaches in San Diego! Absolutely beautiful beach to walk on all the way to the tide pools; OR if looking for a trek walk to Blacks Beach, beneath the bluffs of Torrey Pines, and back🙏🇺🇸
Kellogg park was a nice treat. The playground was suitable for different aged children to enjoy themselves and not be on top of one another. The beach is literally a step away and gives the most scenic view. There is free parking and ample space for hanging out and making a day of it!
This park is great, right on the ocean You can set a bonfire in the fire pits. Plenty of parking showers to rinse off and typically the water is pretty darn clear. Parking is free and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. You can do everything from surf swim to the cove or scuba dive, theres also a wall of fish to identify the local wildlife.
Very good Beach although very crowded. There is a large parking lot but still there is always some wait before one can find a parking spot. There place is very well developed with large lawn with trees, BBQ grills, rest rooms, swings, children play area, large beach area, fire pits, companies offering classes for kiaking, scuba diving, etc and very nice hotels with Beach front rooms
Awesome beach and playground. Lots and lots of people are there having fun every day. Parking is difficult (surprise!), but quickly becomes less so as you go away from the shore. Usually, 3-5 blocks away are just enough to find a nice spot - and it is always healthy to have a short brisk walk.
I never knew it was called Kellogg Park until Google just told me. This is where I eat my food after coming from Bubbas BBQ or Rubios in LaJolla Cove or Village of LaJolla as they officially call it. Never heard anyone call it that by the way. You can get a nice beach front parking space and people watch, roll down the window, recline back and fall asleep in your overpriced rental car.
Beautiful place to have a picnic with friends or family. Dogs arent allowed so thats a bummer! The beach here is long and flat. Go place to sunbathe. There are restrooms available and outdoor showers to clean off the sand after your day. Plenty of free parking is available.
Always a great place to spend the day. Do be careful though as I have had my car broken into in the past. Thieves know youre keeping valuables in your ride as you hit the beach. They will park close to your car and open their front and back doors and work your car over. Be careful
My kid loves it here. I do not. Parking is ludicrous. Absolutely heinous. Ruins the whole experience. People drive the wrong way in the one-way parking lot, or just sit there (15 minutes!) with no room to go around them. Takes at least a half hour to find a spot on a good day, much longer other times, unless you arrive at 9am. Beach is too crowded. Just an annoying place all around. But the beach itself has a nice long slope without a big drop off. Thats what the 2 stars are for.
This place is a very interesting park. It is right next to the beach so its very beautiful and very easy to just go to the beach. Although the park only has a small playground they have a lot of open space to play sports, fly a kite, or even just run around playing soccer. It is also a beautiful place to bring some meat and grill it for lunch by the beach
We were here for the 4th of July and this place was awesome the only downside is parking for this day it gets crazy we had to get up at 4 am to bring our car in the parking space because it was closed and street parking is very limited unless your down to walk and park it 5 streets up and be careful because there’s a lot of street sweeping days! Overall first and great experience at this park for this holiday also restrooms get cleaned often, plenty of them!
This place is nice to walk or picnic the seals smell bad but they are cool to look at haha. Im looking forward to coming again.P.S. You only smell the seals if you go close to entrance or the sidewalk next to them but if youre just at the park you wont smell them generally.
Great place for large meetups and parties at the beach. It can get crowded on a busy day, but you can usually find a spot to set up. Grills and BBQs are allowed so you can have a nice cookout on the grass instead of in the sand. Really nice option if you have guests who dont enjoy the sand.
Kellogg Park at la Jolla Shores , is a beutifull beach . We went Sunday , 1:00 pm and not crowded at all but of coarse these people there enjoying all sorts of things . I noticed especially the cuyack boats . these are like tours , with experts showing u what to do , there were a LOT of those in the WATER and not to far out for safety, it looked like a lot of fun. The staff took good care of all the people , because I watched them for about an hour . very nice day , I didnt need a jacket but had one in my car just in CASE. Dont forget its November here in beutifull San Diego !!!
Parking is a nightmare on Holidays but when you do find a spot to park....Super family/pet friendly, CLEAN, very patrolled and so much to do for everyone! They have a beach, and grassy park area with a childs playground and enough bathrooms and showers for everyone The beach walk is the best in San Diego too!
Best family beach in San Diego. There is a childrens playground, public restrooms, shallow beach for kids, restaurants nearby, and 2 large grass fields on the beach. There is a swing set that is a must to try. Where else can you swing while watching waves on the beach!
Competition for parking fiercely friendly and it is possible with patience powered by the Holy Spirit to get a space directly across the street by beach!Angel of God prayer invoked!Hail Mary, full of grace, praying for a parking space 🚐Be prepared to drop off your people, pets, coolers and other items at the curb and find parking blocks from bench, ok?Ever Virgin Most Powerful Mother Mary was there! Monday August 10, 2020, I prayed to her and Guardian Angels! Fallen Angels have concretely immutably rejected God. Let them return to the hate eternal losing level chosen by them!
Wonderful little park in La Jolla. Parking can be hard, but thats true for most of the area. Great spot to have lunch after exploring the tide pools and seeing all the diverse sea creatures during low tide. Bathrooms are clean and rinsing stations are well maintained.
Summer staple in our home. Same spot every time. We love La Jolla Shores. We set up in the grass under a tree so we have shade and minimal sand comes home with us. Full disclosure, we did witness an attempted kidnapping the last time we were there on Fathers day 2021. It was shocking but the police arrived surprisingly quicker than usual. Thank God! The WOMAN was arrested on site, we made sure of it. The incident unfolded right in front of our eyes. It was bazaar. Valuable lesson learned that you arent safe everywhere, even La Jolla. Keep your eyes on the kids. Besides this I have nothing but love for La Jolla Shores!
We went there a Friday at 1pm and it was jam-packed. Couldnt park anywhere, even far away on the street it was impossible. We had to leave. From what I saw, it looks good but the lack of possibility to actually leave the car is high. I cannot imagine during the weekend.
There is a great little playground here that my boys (ages 4 and 2 as of August 2013) like a lot. There are swing sets (both for babies and for older children), climbing structures, play structures, slides, etc. Some of the ground is sand: appropriate as you have a nice view of the beach. Some of the ground is that bouncy stuff they make playgrounds out of these days. For those of you who like a dose of education with your playground time, there are some signs here explaining why sunblock is important and what to do if you are caught in an undertow. Good to know.

2022-04-21This is a great family beach. Convenient parking. It was Spring Break from the schools, so a bit more crowded than usual.

2022-06-20On of the best beaches in San Diego. LA Jolla shores maybe be a little less accessible than other Main Beaches like mission Beach but it is 100 times better.Kellog park with is just off the sand is a great play area for kids and offers a great beach location to be at if you dont like sand as much.

2022-06-13What I liked here is that the park is very near to the beach, and has sand which kids can play with sand toys.It has many swings. I visited it on a weekend which was very crowded. It is also near the restrooms.

2021-12-31Fun place to go diving. At around 60 feet deep, you get to see crab, lobster and octopus.

2022-04-16Ive been in the area before, but never stopped to let the kids play at the park. It was nice. A big grassy area to either have a picnic on the grass or on one of the few picnic tables. The play structure was ok. Lots of older, 13 or older, kids using it, which could be a turn off to younger kids. They dont seem to care about the younger ones and were running around fast. Luckily I didnt see any accidents. I just kept a close eye on my 7 and 3 year olds which still had a good time and didnt want to leave. The bathrooms were your typical beach public bathrooms, wet floors, smelly, and just had to go in and out quick. Parking can be a real pain, even with the lot next to it.
