The place you want to go. I went for a used tire and now this is my goto shop in the hi dez. Very happy with my experiences with the kind folks of John’s Garage.
They charged me for a tire didnt even put it on the rim and good thing I told them I take the tire cuz they would charged me for my own tire I had on my car so I drove home n my tire wasnt good I had the good tire n my trunk then I call back to tell them they going to charge me again just to put it on the rim n it was there mess up cuz they was focused on something else that I didnt come there for they I let them do it cause I need it done I they cared about trying to make more money it seemed but it was my fault I didnt check it before I left
I have a converted mini school bus, and the first time I brought my rig here, there was a miscommunication with the office staff, which led to my mechanical problem not getting resolved.I spoke with John directly, and from that point on, my experience here was very enjoyable!John is a stand up guy- he really took the time to hear me out about all of the symptoms and was excellent at communicating and answering my questions. Very smart, kind, and trustworthy. (He smells nice too, not like those other grease monkeys Ive gotten a whiff of hahah)But on a serious note, any time Im in Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley Ill be taking my bus here, and encouraging all of my other vanlife/climbing friends to do the same!10/10 would recommend!
Made an appointment with them in advance. Called again and got confirmation of my appointment the day of, then proceeded to tow my vehicle 21 miles to their garage. Upon arrival, they cancelled on me, saying “an appointment is not a promise”, leaving me stranded.AVOID THIS PLACE
This place welcomed us with open arms. Our car over heated on the way back home from vacationing in the area. We stopped by one previous auto shop and they denied us due to low staff. Johns helped us get back on the road within a few hours. They were thorough and showed us the parts that were damaged. They had all the parts to fix the problem. During the waiting period, we got to have a really lovely conversation with the front desk. She was super rad and accommodating the entire time. It was a stress-free, educational experience with good vibes!
Very grateful to have this place in town. I never have to wonder or worry about the level of honesty and integrity of this place. The customer service is friendly and inviting and the work is always great. This is my go-to spot in Yucca Valley.
My son has been sick all week and Ive been having to cancel every time for an oil change .John reached out on a Saturday morning and told me to come in for an oil change! Mind you they only do oil changes on weekdays!!Thank you Johns Garage for your amazing service!

I had a blister on one of my tires. I came here after being told from American Tire Depot that my tires could not be taken off my car due to “cross threading.” After calling around to different places, I finally pulled into here. They quickly helped us take the tires off (which we were told wasn’t possible) in 15 mins while very busy working on other cars, and fixed us up with two tires to get us back on the road. They also explained when I need to change them and were extremely transparent and honest. We are Incredibly grateful for their help.
I started having problems with my 2012 Altima recently. Called up John’s Garage where I had the pleasure of speaking with Timi . Was more than happy to get me in right away . Was a very pleasant experience. John and his team were very knowledgeable and helpful. Was out of there quickly and was extremely happy with the service they provided, very professional. Called to get to get 4 hub centric rings mounted & lubricate a control arm, but as soon as I mention its a Lexus the lady informed me they dont touch those. Lol.Updated.I was never offered an option to set up an appointment. I was open to bringing the car down the next day, but the lady over the phone specifically said they didnt work on Lexus vehicles after I provided my information. Then this response attempting to claim I was anything but courteous with them. Wish my experience wouldve been better.
My car broke down while visiting Joshua Tree, but fortunately, the incident happened near John’s Garage. They help me find a tow truck so they could have a look at my car. It was about closing time, so they ran a diagnostic the next morning, and were able to tell me what the problem was real quick. They fixed it that same morning and I got my car back that same day! I was stoked! Great service! If you have a problem with your car while in Joshua Tree, don’t hesitate, go to John’s Garage. :)

These guys are the best! Limped in one day on a busted tire and they took care of my so quickly I still made my brunch reservation in Palm Springs. Ive been going there ever since and am amazed by the customer service and prices. Highly recommend!
I cannot say enough good things about Johns Garage! Timey, at the front is absolutely amazing and her customer service skills are superb. All the mechanics are wonderful, kind and very honest, which can be hard to find. My AC gave out right in the peak of Summer & they got me in and fixed it in no time! Just went back for a thermostat leak & the turnover time for that was also very quick. Both experiences were wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone! Pricing also great!
The best! friendly, helpful, honest, communicative and fast. rabbits chewed through my power steering wires. Timi from the front desk guessed as much over the phone based on what I described (emergency lights on) and then they fixed it in 2 hours for a very fair price. so grateful to them! Also, they were COVID-responsible & masked in the customer area.

I called and went to many places to get new tires on my quad. Everyone told me no. Went there and I was in and out in about an hour (they were busy). They are amazing!!
Right as I began my 450 mile Trek back home to Nor Cal, my check engine light came on. After being turned away from a shop up the road, I went to John’s garage and they took my car in immediately, diagnosed it, and had me in and out in 45 minutes. They were really kind, honest and quick. They told me exactly what I’ll need to replace and reassured me that my car would be able to make it back home safe without trying to upsell me. If you’re looking for good customer service, and honest people I highly recommend taking your car to John’s garage!

The inner rear tire on our Sprinter chassis ( for a motorhome) was leaking air. We had discovered the leak with our Tire Pressure Monitoring system while deep within Joshua Tree NP and had to keep stopping to put air into the tire until we could get cell service. We tried calling all the major tire repair facilities outside the park in Yucca Valley, the closest we could find, and none would commit to helping us. They were too busy or wouldnt work on a motorhome. Fortunately, one service rep told us to try Johns Garage (which didnt even show up in our Google search). We call and got Jimmie, and she said they would definitely try to help us. As soon as we arrived, limping in on an almost flat tire, Jimmie came out and said they would work on it immediately (she saw our desperation Im sure since we hoped to get back home in LA the same day). The service person found a nail in the inside rear tire, plugged it and we were on our way within about 30 minutes. Amazing service. The charge was incredibly reasonable too. I highly recommend this local business.

Great experience my wife calls me at work about us having a flat and being our only vehicle I was basically helpless called them being that they are close to home and they offer a mobile tire repair service that saved the day great service friendly and not bad on pricing they were able to put another tire on it since the object that made my tire flat made a tear in it thanks a lot would definitely recommend

A great garage for when you need one! Although my problem was one that required a dealership in order to change my car’s mess of after market headlights back to factory, John’s garage was more than capable of quickly diagnosing the problem and giving me a solution for it :) The service manager was very friendly and efficient. I’ll definitely be back for brakes and oil changes!
Man I love this place. Id recommend to anyone who wants down to earth people touching their vehicles to go here no matter if its repairs on your vehicle or just swapping a tire. Today they made me happy once again! They took beautiful care of my mom and her truck because she got new wheels and tires going from 22s to 17s (thank god) and they did everything they could to make sure no scratches were made on the brand new rims and they beat our time expectations like usual. Great place, anything automotive related I would recommend Johns hands down. Five stars all the way
Was in a bind and Johns Garage Rescued me. I dragged in a blown out tire. The lady at the front said they could take care of it and within 15 minutes, I was on my way. The shop looked busy but took care of me quickly. To top it off, the tire they sold me was in better shape than any of the others that are on my truck. Prompt, courteous and reliable service!
Do not under any circumstances bring your vehicle to Johns Garage in yucca valley. They are the most incompetent mechanics in California. Had them do a motor replacement after Bringing the truck back 5 times the still have not got it right. The have zero compassion for their customers and the vehicle the service. Ive had to go here twice for unexpected nail in tire events about 1.5 weeks apart. Got a patch each time for a reasonable price. There is a gentleman there who handles front desk and transactions, Im sorry I didnt catch his name just that he is ex-military, who I have to say just has the best customer service. Very kind and I want to say good choice of being a spokes person for the company! So, rave to Johns Garage.
Needed a couple replacement/used tires. I have a mid-size sedan and they were extremely affordable. Service is generally really quick. On my first visit I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Will refer to friends & family.

Love Johns Garage! This was the first company I chose for tire service after mom passed and I had to relocate. Come to find out even my dealer tow service has known them for 20 plus years. Ashley is awesome! So are each of the mechanics. Fast, friendly, and if they cant do something, they know where to send you. They perform a variety of services, including tire replacements or new tires. I just love them. Awesome small town business. I highly recommend them!
Too notch customer service both on the phone and in person. Good prices and fast service. Ive never had to wait more than 15/20 minutes to have my tires changed or repaired. Nice amenities in the waiting area as well. Free kuerig coffee and soft drinks 😁
I have had Johns garage work on my Diesel F350 on three separate issues others could not fix. Each time they came through with a final fix accurately, and thoroughly. The pricing is acceptable. My issues were, major like, glowplug, transmission, air conditioning (which an other well-known shop worked on three times, $800.00 later no real permanent fix, Johns permanently fix it for $193.00, including diagnostics)The customer service person was on her game as well.The only issue which they are aware of and trying to fix is difficult parking situation.It amazes me that all areas are accomplished so well. As an example, they are great with tires, as well.

Came into this little place with a flat, looking for a replacement..I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices and the prompt service!!The staff was welcoming and so sweet..Maddie came out with hot wheels( awesome) for my children, while a movie played and cold water was offered, as Jimmy got the details with the car managed. Cant believe how awesome this shop is. The engine in our RV took a turn for the worst and Johns Garage diagnosed our problem and confirmed it needed a new engine. At the same time our off-road Jeep went 51/50. After Johns Garage fixed our Jeep the owner allowed us to camp out in their parking lot while we figured out what to do about the RV. They were so friendly, honest, and so accommodating that I cant recommend them enough.
If we could give 100 stars, we would. The team at Johns garage is talented, fair, transparent, and efficient. After a car accident left us with an unexpected flat —500 miles from home, on the eve of the Christmas holidays— they came through and got us back on the road in 40 minutes flat! Came here to get air in my tires. They checked and said they were fine even though my light was on. They said my tires were at 30 psi,even though they were at 20 ! Additionally my tires are supposed to be at 39 psi but he insisted it was 30.Take your business some where else this place can’t even check tire pressure !
Deceptively appears as a quaint little hole in the wall grease and rubber operation, but dont let its outward appearance fool you! Its bigger on the inside! This humble haven of sparks and petroleum byproducts roars with the sound of air tools and busy hands upon discovering the huge multi-garage shop behind the front office. The office is very clean and professional looking. I would bet money that it was renovated within the last half decade, and the waiting room sports an enormous flat screen with appropriately displayed gear head content to whisk you away until your workhorse, town car, or weekend toy project has finished its mutually agreed upon service and inspection. Conveniently finding itself next to a smoke shop with hard bargain prices youll be unlikely to find at your run of the mill gas station or super market. Stressed out about your vehicles state of disrepair and its impact on your budget? Feel free to step outside and help yourself to someone discount cowboy killers and plant yourself down on the courtesy bench right outside the front door. Employees are very knowledgeable and service times were a breeze. Very competitive prices on services offered! Go check them out!

I was very happy with Sean and John! I was pointed in their direction to get a used tire cus the other place i went didnt have the size i needed. I arrived at Johns AFTER they had closed, but i didnt know, and they still helped me and put a tire on for me! They even switched my spare out and put my old tire on for a spare. I have been coming to john’s garage for a few years now. They are always kind, knowledgeable, and reliable. I have never felt taken advantage of (which I have felt at “bigger” named mechanics) and there is no other place I would take my car to. If you are in the yucca valley area, this is where you should take your vehicle hands down!
Got 4 new tires, then sensor light went on, I went back and they said it was missing, I paid over a hundred dollars for a new sensor and they couldnt get to work, went back two more times, still no good. Two weeks later the inner wall of the brand new tires I just bought blew out ! Another 110$ to replace that and theres no replacing my vacation day spent at the shop :( Also they didnt check the spare which is illegal ! And I even asked ! My donut was toast !
They would change my brake pads without doing rotors and the pads had thirty percent left on pads rotors we unscared but they said thats the only way that I could get the pads put on not the place to get brakes done

One of the best places to take your car in the Morongo Basin for mechanical, mufflers, tires, and light welding. This shop has it all a very friendly staff,A comfortable waiting room with vending machines, catalogs on tires and wheels they also have catalogs on lifts for your truck or Jeep. These are some of the most honest mechanics Ive ever met, because we all know mechanics trying to get rich off of one innocent trustworthy person... I dont get this when I go into this shop, I do a lot of light mechanical work myself so I know when Im getting ripped off or not and these guys are great as far as explaining things and why they need to be done. They also Carrie really good used tires for a decent price if youre not looking for used and they dont have your tires in stock, they can get them next day... Ive been going to them for the last 3 years and wont take my car anywhere else I would recommend them to anyone I know for any of your Automotive or diesel needs

Took my car in recently for a oil change. This was for some synthetic oil and I came home. Next day had my mechanic look at it and he discovered that the oil was dirty and the drain plug was leaking and I was also a quart low. I didnt even bother to call this facility because I feel they wont do anything. If they couldnt get the job done right in then tgey shouldnt charge you. Oh the girl at the counter told me I needed to get my air filter changed and that was wrong it was fine! I do not recomend this place! Will not go back again!!

I have a 1999 Saturn sl2 and I had door issues where they wouldnt open from the inside and it made the electronics bug out like crazy. So I dropped it off and told them that I had worm tommorow, they were very freindly ( Ashley) and about 4 hours later Im back home with my car. She called me to let me know how it was coming along, what needed to be replaced ( I knew a clip broke ) and they threw it in there for me. No fake up selling like some other places Ive experienced, straight up and honest. I will be coming back here for later upgrades and fixes!
This is shop is the worst! The over charge, are very rude and not helpful. Stay clear of this place. The used tires are inferior and last about 3 days if your lucky. Staff is rude, especially the girl that answers the phone. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!
John was awesome. We were visiting from LA and had engine lights flashing in the middle of the desert...cant get worse than that, right? John ran a diagnostic right away and assured us it was no big deal...took care of us and back on the road in no time. Thanks, brother!
Okay, so I went in with a transmission issue. I was told there would be a diagnostic fee. No problem. After they find out the issue they inform me that they do not do transmission work... Who does that? Seriously? Bad business practice. The first thing they shouldve told me was they do not do transmission work. I wouldve moved on. Instead I paid a diagnostic fee to find out what I already knew. Thanks for nothing.
Full & fast service... I had a last minute tire emergency and thankfully Johns garage offered to come up to my house and removed/replaced my trailer tires within 30 minutes. Doesnt get any better than John and his staff! THANK YOU!!

Brought my 2006 Mazda down to these guys to fix a stalling issue I was having and they called me in an hour to tell me exactly what was wrong with it and they even helped me out on price (I checked around). All in all I go to John and his crew for just about everything now that Im a perminant resident up here. And even better I recently just got five brand new Mud terrain tires from them and got them put on my jeep rubicon and I love them. If you dont take my word for it, try them yourself.

Hmmm. Charged me 3% to use my credit card. Put the wider rear wheels on the left side and the narrower front wheels on the right side. Mounted the front tire on a rear wheel. Stretched the tire like a rice mobile. Had to have the tires remounted, wheels moved next day. Really.
Smart dudes and the gall up front is hilarious. My car got serviced, my kid was given a free toy car and we were out before I even knew it. I will be recommended people here

I see from some of the reviews that the work is probably great but I just got off the phone with a girl who was the rudest customer person ever, she stated, we are busy and dont have time to go and help you. I was like wow you are rude.
Bad experience...will not return my business...Ashley.shop.receptionist) had me hold ...and forgot me..After 15 minutes i hung up..called back..explained to her i was on hold for a while...she tells me she does not remember i was on hold...( hinse why i was in hold forever...)..She then quotes me a price..and when i came in next day to get job done...the price she wanted me to agree upon did not reflect the precious quote...When i. brought that up to her...she explained that she actually did not record her quote she gave me..and replied to me that the actual proce is what i need to pay for(the exact quote she gave me over phone...was $45.00 less)...i shake my head in disgust(knowing i still needed to get job done...Ashley disappeared..for about 5 minutes(leaving me alone in office)...and shows up with JOHN(THE BUSINESS OWNER)..John asked me what my problem was...i tell him...and he replies to me asking do you know why we are in business ? and shockingly(can not believe at all why).. To make money.....and he tells me that i can pay the full price or leave....This is the owner.. Idid not want to get irrational..so i got the job done anyways(plus..JOHNS GARAGE IS NEVER BUSY( UNDERSTANDABLY)(The only machanic i like in Yucka Valley ...has a two week wait for appointments...) AGAIN...i will now boycott JOHS GARAGE..(info...alert...to me I have actually boycotted every Yucka mechanic...except one...just sometimes my car problems are specific..in other words..i need them done now...)

This place is so slow they had my truck for 2 weeks and never started the work on it i had to take my truck to another shop cost me 85$ for absolutely nothing but being without my truck for 2 weeks they were working me for money by delaying they figured i would pay anything just to get my truck done never again will i go to this shop nor recommend this place to anyone

2022-06-04Headed to a 4 hr drive funeral , after flying 1200 mi. Got a flat that could not be fixed. Big O called Johns tire and we were in and out in 10 minutes with an inexpensive beautiful mounted and balanced used good tire. They were awesome.

2021-06-11Johns Garage saved my life. Ok that last sentence was a stretch but Johns Garage did come through for me in what some would say could be the worse car problem one could have in the desert. As you can see in the picture my car began to over heat as soon as I was leaving Joshua Tree. I still needed a 2 hour drive to get home. I went to a different mechanic and was blown off immediately. I was fortunate enough to be close to johns garage. I was welcomed like family and they worked on my car immediately even tho they had a good flow of clients come in. I knew I could trust they weren’t trying to rob people but build a trusting clientele for the long haul. My radiator fan was fixed and AC was charged. We were offered water and a clean restroom. I’m back home safe and sound with a car running smooth. Thanks Johns Garage!

2021-12-23Been going to Johns garage for almost 4 yrs now when needing tires. Every time I go in, the staff is ALWAYS professional, reliable, friendly, just always going above and beyond. Tonight for example, I needed to replace a tire asap-I showed up at 4:45pm (they close at 5pm) now, usually most places wouldnt take customers that close to closing, however when I walked in and asked if they were able to do that, with no hesitation, the lovely girl at the desk said with a smile, of course! Come on in! Thank you Johns garage for being awesome!

2022-01-18Great shop! We were from out of town and they were able to sneak us in last minute. Got the repair done quickly while we walked to take our kids to the park nearby. Fast, honest, and genuinely helpful.

2019-10-03I rolled up to Johns today when my vintage Chevy diesel motorhome began experiencing transmission issues. For an extremely reasonable fee, John and his team of expert mechanics thoroughly checked out my vehicle, really putting the time into understanding the root cause of the problems I was experiencing. (All the while I got to relax and enjoy TV and free beverages in their very comfortable waiting area). It turns out I had a leaky vacuum hose to my transmission module. They fixed the issue now shes running great! Not only that, but Kelly (the awesome mechanic who did most of the work on my rig) even found a way to suction out some of the extra transmission fluid I had (I was overfull). He went above and beyond to make sure that hed done everything he could to help my rig run better. This was only my first time at Johns but its clear that these guys know what theyre doing. They also seem like really good, honest people. They were genuinely interested in getting me driving happily again, not in selling me every last service I could possibly need. I would go back to Johns in a heartbeat and would recommend this garage to anyone, whether its for a gas engine or a diesel. Thank you John, Kelly, and all you guys - your knowledge, craftsmanship and integrity are most appreciated!!!!
