Stayed here for two nights; very nice and heated pool and spa. Unfortunately I was sick so I could not take advantage of the amenities. Very good breakfast included every morning. My only issue was that housekeeping went into our room, they left a window open, but they did not bother to stock us with more toiletries or take out the trash. Nice and spacious rooms with a living room and kitchen.
Overall I was happy with our stay, the location is great close to Legoland and plenty of options for food close by. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a one bedroom suite that was spacious and worked well. Unfortunately we could hear every step loudly from the room above us, constantly running back and forth. The room was clean to look at, but older and had a must kinda fishy smell that lasted the entire stay. Overall it was affordable, great location for us, and a nice complimentary breakfast.
The hotel is just fine. Staff is nice, breakfast was nice and parking wasnt an issue at any time I needed to park. The only complaint I have is the water pressure is really low. Its basically a low hose setting. Aside from that I would stay again. Its one mile from Lego Land and two blocks from the ocean.
This hotel is comparable to a Motel 6, not what you’d expect from Hyatt. The staff is friendly and location is great. There’s WiFi and the AC was nice and cold. The kitchen area is nice with a large refrigerator. But the room layout makes it feel small and a little awkward, there were many stains on the couch, the latch on the door was broken with a black splatter on the peephole making it difficult to see out of. One of the dresser drawers was broken and the carpet looks and feels like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. There was only one towel in the bathroom (the staff did bring more right away) and the extra blanket in the closet was frayed with a hole in it. The overall feel is dated and dirty. I would not stay here again.
This place is amazing. I flew in from jersey for a wedding, arrived on Friday. Pool was open, food and drinks were available. As soon as I checked in, I was made welcome. I ordered some food, was sent up to my clean room and was called when my food was ready. I ate and had a beer, took a nap and came down at what would have been 11 eastern time. I could still eat. They accidentally put meat in my meal and looks like I got no bar bill that night! Next day was even better. Got dressed for the wedding and stopped down for a bite and a drink. They shuttled two people... (two! )To the wedding. When I got there, realized my gift was on the bar. Figured that was long gone. The hotel manager saw it, personally found me and delivered the gift. The service is amazing. I highly recommend!
Perfect for biz trips!Outstanding customer service (forgot my razor and the lady at the lobby provided me with a free shaving kit). Nice building. Great location close to everything. Breakfast is solid: your typical scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, yogurt, and related. Rooms are big and beds are comfortable. Great value overall!
We only stayed one night, but I liked our room. It was very roomy compared to the Hyatt Place rooms, which is where we usually stay. The front office personnel were courteous and helpful. The complimentary breakfast included an omelet bar that morning, which was great. Overall, we had a good experience.
Pros: Their staffs are nice. My room is quiet. I love the desk they supply, and utensils in the kitchen are very helpful.Cons:1. There was an untidy microwave when I entered the room.2. I discovered a nonempty trash can under the sink after the housekeeping service. They collected the used towels but didn’t put new ones on the rack. I asked the front desk for clean towels and trash cleaning. I did have my towels after a couple of hours but the full trash bin was still there. This only happened once during my stay, but it impressed me a lot.3. Besides, breakfast is the same everyday. Not good news for extended-stay customers.4. The air in the fitness room is not quite fresh. I don’t think it’s a good idea to exercise there, especially when you are panting during workout.Overall: It is very likely for me to choose this hotel once again if I were in that area.
Immediately upon walking into the bathroom of our room we saw this gross hair tie (complete with hair from its owner) left in the bathroom! It definitely makes you worry about the cleanliness of the rooms! The card reader on our door was a pain to use because it didnt register the car half of the time. The pool didnt have towels the two different days that we used it during our stay, we had to go to the front desk to get towels. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was edible.
This was a very good place to stay until now. The employees were very nice. But the service was not so good.Day 1 the room phones never worked during our 11 day stay.We had a 2 room suite with 2 TVs and one remote. remote was replaced, but both remotes had issues and never resolved during our whole stay.Day 2 room door never latched and locked properly. All anyone had to do was push on the door and it would open. This was fixed, but took 3 days. talk about worrying about our personal items in the hotel.Day 4 garbage disposal not working, reported and never fixed.Day 2 thru 11 toilet paper and bath towels never restocked and constantly had to go to the front desk and ask for supplies. You pay almost 2 thousand for a stay and this is what you get. I reported to the hotel and all i got was a SORRY email from the manager. This happen two weeks ago.
Location is next to train tracks, train honks the horn there often. The hotel provides you with complementary ear plugs. The rooms were clean but most of the electrical outlets did not work or were very loose. The phones initially didnt work. The bar tender at the bar did not know anything about the bar, even with basic drinks. Staff was courteous.
Yuck. This place is YUCK! The floors were disgusting and when we opened our sofa bed the sheets had hair all over them. We were moved to a different room across the hall after telling the front desk, but in that room the bathtub was backed up and wouldnt drain properly so there was SCUM all over the tub! I tried to wash it down, but since the drain didnt work properly it was no use. On top of that, the TV remote was broken. We just left and drove the 6 hours home in the middle of the night with 2 toddlers rather than stay there and catch something. Yuck, Im itchy just thinking about it.The only positive is that the front desk staff and bartender were absolutely nice.
This hotel was excellent! Our room was just the perfect size. Hyatt has thought of everything to make guests stay as stress free as possible. The WiFi was excellent and the kitchen had everything we needed. The staff was outstanding from the front desk to the cleaning crew. Everyone was accommodating, helpful and kind. The hotels location is perfect. 5 minutes to the beach by car, 5 minutes to area supermarkets. The commute to San Diego was a breeze (about 30 minutes).Thank you Hyatt House Carlsbad team for helping us make our So Cal vacation one to remember!
The room was smaller than expected based on the description of the room. But the room itself was great. Breakfast was a good assortment of options from the classic scrambled eggs and ham to waffles. The coffee wasnt my favorite but if youre not particular, its alright. Overall, great experience.
My wife and I have enjoyed this hotel for the past few years and I must say the staff is very nice and the beds are comfortable. However, things have changed and not for the better. There used to be an evening happy hour with wine and food, thats gone. The breakfast selection is dwindling, the last 2 times we visited the spa was not working, and there were metal parts on the gas grills which were rusted through. There was trash in the parking lot, an aluminum can on top of the hedges all three partial days we were there, broken concrete parking bumpers stacked in a pile, there were large chunks out of both arms of our desk chair, a broken chunk out of the bathroom door frame, the toilet flushed occasionally and the stairway carpets could have used a good cleaning. Its like Motel Six at Hyatt prices. We wont be back, sorry to say.
After i read all the negative review, i kinda regret booking at this place. but when i got there, the place looks clean and new. i like their classic theme look. they also offer FREE breakfast. minus 1 star for unable to use your phone to check in and open your room door with cellphone. if you book directly with Hilton (their competitor), you can use your phone to unlock your room door, so you can get there as late as you want. on hotels booking site, it listed Hyatt house check in from 3pm - 11pm, im not sure if thats accurate or not.
I have stayed in this hotel several times. The hotel and staff are great...for the most part. Cons: Hotel is pet friendly so the rooms have an underlying pet smell no matter which room you are in. The staff is unknowingly biased towards the opposite sex. An older woman often favors and does special things for nice young looking men and a few older gentleman do the same for pretty ladies. It seems harmless but watching men get overlooked for service or women get snubbed at breakfast was uncomfortable. Pros: Location is great! Hotel is clean. Front Desk Asst Mgr is super friendly and helpful. They are pet friendly (yes pro and con...I brought my fur babies, I just didnt want to smell the others!)
The Lilac fire forced us to evacuate. With pets. Considering our options, the Hyatt house proved to be a great choice. Location is great, being pet friendly helped tremendously, the room was accommodating and spacious. Plus we had almost a fully stocked kitchen. It wasnt a vacation and we were glad to have a mini apartment.Their morning breakfast was the highlight. It rivals the likes of Dennys. And its FREE. Great service, nice staff, and the bar even had nightly food specials.Overall we were very pleased with the price of the room, free parking, free high-end breakfast, and more. Yeah theres room for improvement but in a pinch Hyatt House pulled thru.
Staying here for 4 nights. One night down and we are loving it. Beds are comfy, different pillow options, kitchenettes, etc... The breakfast is awesome. A bar for the adults. The staff are very helpful and kind. Pool isnt as cold as most pools. Very relaxing and fun stay for a 3,4,5, and 15 year old with 6 adults. Were all loving it.
Overall, reasonable hotel for the price. Staff was excellent including check-in, breakfast and cleaning. However, facilities are very dated with southwest decor. Great location for families going to Legoland or the beach but as a business traveler road noise and very active children were a drawback. Stayed at many Hyatt properties and even for a Hyatt house Id rate it below average for business but perfect for families.
Great for business travel with the kitchenette and daily breakfast with fresh omelettes. Just 2 blocks from the beach and great running or walking along the bluffs overlooking the beach. Easy access to 5 and very close to the outlets and Lego Land. Perfectly situated and very friendly staff! Loved having the small bar for a quick glass of wine at the end of the day.
VERY nice staff. However, room was extremely smelly...like old moldy wet towels. Could not get rid of the smell....bought a candle and opened window. Its in the walls....just old hotel. Room 127. Coffee maker was broke, had to request new one and they brought it within 5 minutes, much appreciated! The room keys barely work.....took 3 or 4 minutes of trying over and over. It just is what it is, no use trying to get new keys. So that was frustrating.
Came here due to the legoland website. This hotel is the worst Ive ever stayed at. Lots of strain, not clean beds. We did not get room service the first day. No made bed. No soap. No clean towels. When I called. It took 45 minutes for the towels to come up. The second day. We leave at 10am. Request our rooms get service since no one did yesterday. We get back at 2pm. Nothing. And we came back with food to cook. No cooking pans or utensils. It took 3 calls to get someone to bring them up and waiting for alnost 2 hours with two hungry kids. I am NOT picky. So much so, I was very nice. But when you pay this much money, it so disheartening! We chose this hotel for the kitchen to cook to save money. Just absolutely worthless. I will tell ever to one I know to go somewhere else.
They don’t replace towels for the room and if you need them you have to go down to the front desk to get them. I went to the front desk to get them and they didn’t have any large towels. They said they are all in the wash and I have to get them later. Then why tell me to come down in the first place. They also said they don’t have that many towels at the hotel. If you try to call the front desk it might take an hour because there is only one person working. Also door key only works once then you have to go to the front desk to replace it.Lots of Hassell for the price. I recommend anywhere else.
The hotel is very conveniently located, very close to hwy, the premium outlet, restaurants and the shorelines. The room was pretty good sized, with a large refrigerator, small kitchen area, and good sized bathroom. Unfortunately, the furnitures and decors were all dated. It is also close to train tracks and therefore, guests could hear trains passing by from time to time, even during sleeping time (ear plugs were provided in our room).
Not one of the best Hyatt hotels Ive stayed at. Our bathroom did not have any bath towels and when we contacted the front desk for some they made us go and get them. Then the next two days we where there we only received 3 bath towels one day and none the following day. Other than that no other real issues. Excellent location.
Enjoyed overall. Service was fine and the rooms were nice. Breakfast is pretty good and there is free parking. It is a short drive to legoland. Would definitely stay again but for what its worth would also prefer staying in the grand Pacific palisades if the option was there and cost efficient.
We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The Hotel is dark and uncanny. The unfriendliness of the evening crew add to the overall dark feeling of the hotel. Our room was dirty. It had dried ketchup stains on the desk, crumbs everywhere and large stains on the couch. Several of our electrical outlets were not working and our towels had hair on them. We notified the front desk of the issues and they assured us that someone would come to replace the towels and repair the electrical outlets. NO ONE EVER CAME. EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS REQUEST MADE ON OUR PART. If you are looking for a clean and friendly hotel to take your family look elsewhere. We requested to speak to the Hotel manager concerning our stay, but they were somehow never available. LOOK FOR ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY!!!
First the good stuff. Great friendly staff and the hotel is easy in and out from highway 5. Good breakfast free in the morning and open till 9:30am to make it convenient for anyone to have a good but to get started on the day.The room is small and the way it is organized can give claustrophobic feeling. Walked in and found ear plugs and wondered why. The answer came soon enough in the way of a train track very close by. The double plied windows are of no use as you hear the train often enough. A light sleeper will have terrible time sleeping. The walls are so sheet thin that I woke up for the sound of next door shower. The bed is so soggy, had tough time sleeping in. This is the first ever Hyatt that I regret staying. Definitely not what I expected.
The location is great! Its right off the freeway and minutes away from the beach, outlet mall and great restaurants. The rooms had a good layout. The room we went into had a nice cooking area. The furniture is of good tast and comfortable. Our kids were very well responded to as we sent them for more towels and pool ameneties. All in all a great place to stay for a night or for the week.
Love it the room is nice only one thing the shower would over flow. Other than that the room was great they gave ear plugs due to the train that passes at night. Breakfest is good in the morining make sure you get there at 6:30am cause when the rush comes they have a hard keeping up with putting food out. Like I said the room is great though.
Ew! From the moment I walked in, I knew it wasn’t going to be good. We booked this hotel through Legoland vacations, & after reading Google reviews I thought it would be okay. Upon entry into the lobby it was stuffy and seemed dim, a lady was standing at the counter but she told me to hold on because the “staff was in a meeting”. Check in was quick and easy, walked into the room and it was small. The couch in the living room was stained, the TVs were tiny. The hotel was very dated, the bathroom wasn’t super clean. The some of the towels looked like they needed washing. I booked two nights for my family and only stayed one. We checked our early because our hotel was gross & I was unable to relax. My son got sick in the middle of the night and we called the front desk about replacing the blanket and sheet(he was unable to make it to the bathroom) they brought new sheets but they didn’t look clean and told us to keep the other sheet until house keeping came the next morning. We also stayed at the Hilton in anahiem because we did Disney and they were so awesome and accommodating. The hotel was very clean. I would not return to the Hyatt house Carlsbad.
You cant order movies here from your room?? Theres a pretend app they advertise on their channels I download it didnt work. I called front desk to ask.....they brought me a second remote??? Also didnt work. The place is nice, small rooms, great breakfast. Just dont plan on staying in for a movie or bring your own DVD or harddrive.....For those things this place sucks
Beds are super comfortable . Looking for a place to get a good night sleep ..... this Is the place ! The employees who cleaned our room were super helpful and very friendly . We Needed two extra towels and she went out of her way to get them for us . Very nice and friendly hotel personalOne the downside the bartender at this hotel is rude and I felt discriminated . She seems that she dislikes her job . Other than that it was a good experience
Kids free hotel! Heaven on earth!!! Rooms are modern, not super spacious but they made the most out of the space. Rooms come with convection microwave so you can do a small roast or get your cooking on.In-n-Out is about 13 min walk from the hotel. If you can’t find nothing to eat, it not a bad option!!! Breakfast hours end@9:30am during the week, so make sure you don’t miss it!
Hardly any electrical outlets to use. Toilet kept getting backed up. They came and emptied our garbages and didnt make the beds. Several dents in walls. Toilet paper roll holder across the bathroom from using. Pillows are terrible. My sister in law was down the hall and when they went to bed, they found socks in their bed! They called and complained and were given new sheets but not offered to have the bed remade for them. Their toilet got completely backed up. Carpets in halls have stains and are so gross.
Let me just start by saying this was not our first stay at this location. However this stay was awful!!They need to update information to include the fact that they no longer offer a shuttle to Legoland nor do they have an evening social as of A YEAR AGO!!!! Also if you have loud guest above you dont bother saying anything, nothing will be done and if you ask to change rooms they will so no, without offering any assistance. For 3 nights we had kids above us running till midnight every night and up again at 7am full of energy. Also the facility is showing its age, no updates have been done since 4 years ago at our last stay. The towel rack was broken and we inquired about this the first night but never had anyone call/stop by etc to address it. Dont go swimming without stopping by the front desk for towels as they obviously dont restock the cabinet out by the pool. And watch out for the roaches.. we trapped one in a glass for house keeping to see and told the front office but this did not seem like a surprise.Overall, this stay was not worth the money. Was very disappointed with every aspect. Which is sad because the previous stays had been awesome.
The first room we were put in was tiny and cramped with very little drawers. The fridge didnt work and we had a lot of food we brought wasted because of that. Then the toilet overflowed. Then we were moved to a room where the a/c didnt work. For the amount this place costs, the rooms are severely lackluster and the customer service isnt good.
Room was clean, housekeeping staff was very nice. Needed to gave a late dinner, and needed to call in the order as we were coming back to the hotel and the staff member did not accommodate us. Typically the food at Hyatt is great, but we ended up at Panda instead. I have been spoiled by my home location who truly go above and beyond.
2 stars for the following: The location is right off the freeway and close to restaurants, shopping, and Legoland. The location was clean and complimentary infused water is available to pour in the lobby. The room had a stove and fridge, which was nice. Plenty of cable channels to watch. Also my sink was painted with a mosaic art and I thought it was lovely and unique.Negatives: the rooms were super small for 4. The pull out bed almost touched the queen bed. The mattress was sunken in the middle so both me and the hubby kept rolling into the middle - not cool. Our kids slept on the pull out and I dont envy them because when I laid them down I only felt hard metal and springs, didnt feel like any cushion. The food was terrible! Decided to order dinner at the onsite restaurant and everything I tasted was terrible and it all cost us $40. The hamburger meat was so bad I had to ask for something else and when I finally got the turkey club it bread was hard on the outside - I didnt even eat it and went to bed hungry. The customer service was poor as there appeared to be one person doing everything - front desk, bar, making the food and delivering to the tables. They do offer a free breakfast but after my dinner experience we grabbed a couple of bananas and opted out. Overall, I was disappointed and I most likely will not stay here again in the future.
Nice lady checked us in very quickly. Our keys didnt work the lock so had to go down to get new ones. Same rep said it must have been my fault because I must have put them next to a magnet. Okay? Room was big but could have been cleaner. Couch had stains on it and the throw pillows were dirty and stained as well. The tub was leaking and must have been for a while as the tub was flaking and peeling around the drain...gross. Bed was super comfy and had a great night sleep. They provided several options for Breakfast and the waffles and sausage I had were good. Checkout was quick and easy. For the price it wasnt bad, but ultimately the cleanlyness of the bathroom makes me give 3 stars.
Super friendly staff, good breakfast, large rooms, but this place could use an update. Looks like Hyatt bought it from another chain and just left everything Im place. Not really Hyatt-ie. Still, it was overall clean, and well maintained. Hallway carpet could use replacing though. Id stay again.
Would not recommend. There was no ice in the whole building. No locking mechanism on the bathroom door. No liners in the garbage cans. Closet doors were off track and we had to force them open to get bedding for the sofa bed.Kicker is we left a pillow in the room and I called to ask them to hold it until we could pick it up the following week. Housekeeping claims they didnt find it, which is impossible. It was definitely left there - everyone in my party can verify it went in with us but didnt leave the room with us. The GM was no help and gave me canned responses when I asked her to review video of people going in/out of our room. It was very clear she had no real interest in helping me. I originally assumed the pillow had been misplaced inside the hotel after our room was cleaned, but its obvious now the housekeeper took it. I asked the GM to please give the housekeeper a chance to return the pillow without losing her job but she refused.First trip to Legoland and we would go again. First stay in a Hyatt and we would never go back. Never had items stolen from Mariotts or Holiday Inns, which are our usual hotel chains. Avoid Hyatt hotels, especially this one, if you want to know your personal belongings will be available to you should you accidentally leave them behind.
Great rooms, terrible food. Management could take a few pointers from the competing hotels by hiring actual chefs for the in house kitchen. Our food came greasy, stale and missing a lot of key ingredients. When we returned it. They did apoligize but charged us for it anyway.. Out of 5 meals 1 was edible..Overall. Not recommend...
Close to LegolandClose to Premier outlets mall, good for shopping and dining. (Try out the caramel popcorn at the mall).WiFi is good enough for streaming. No upgrades and such funny business.Good breakfast. They make you fresh omelettes on demand. Limited seating space though.Hot plate, microwave, ceramic plates, bowls and spoons in the room (some bigger hotels don’t have these and you have to call and ask for it).Friendly staff. Manager at the front desk moved us to a room on the 3rd floor when I complained about the noise from the room above.Be Aware of 2 things:Old structure, so you’ll hear all the thumping from people walking, and kids running around, in the room above, unless you get a room on the 3rd (top) floor. No safe deposit box in the room, but they have a note at the front desk saying one is available on request.
Booked the hotel a while ago using Hyatt points. Got notified just one day before check-in date that our award booking is cancelled since the hotel is no longer in the Hyatt portfolio. Offered us a high cash rate for rebooking which we declined. Finally Hyatt was able to put us in another hotel twenty miles away. If the hotel will be no longer in Hyatt, why would it allow us to book with points in the first place. If they wish to cancel our reservations, give us at least a seven-day notice so that we could have more options. Very unpleasant experience with this hotel.
Very friendly & welcoming staff. Not what I was expecting after arriving to our room. I got a suite, I was expecting a room with living room seperate space and small kitchen with breakfast bar...like a little peninsula that pops out...not the case. Normal hotel room with small couch, tiny kitchenette, kitchen drawers open onto wall lol, dated bathroom ...old tub, hair around the edges of bathroom, old cracked tile...kitchen has pots pans utensils glass ware plates.... havent had breakfast (included) here yet, so well see. The halls have dated carpet. Everything but out bathroom seems clean. The pool is freezing! Hot tub is hot...the kids asked to play in the hot tub that has algae on the walls and peeling paint where you would sit instead of pool. I was so excited to come here...kinda disappointed ... but Im the kinda of person that trys to make the best out of everything so we will make the most of out trip here to Carlsbad CA.
Underwhelming. ...the plus is we had a place to sleep. Did not get the room type we booked, got the run around from multiple employees, very loud and not modern at all. The staff never tried to be accommodating during our 5 night stay. I will never stay at a Hyatt again nor would recommend it to anyone. Multiple problems in the room as well as reservation errors. Cant even list all problems throughout a 5 day stay.
This place is great it has great rooms, the service is fantastic, the people are nice, and they have a pool and a hot tub but some rooms might differ than others but check this they have a kitchen but other than that it is great and also they have free breakfast in the morning serving until 9:30 tho but still good. Id give it 101%
Do not stay. The hotel is older and little dirty but it wasnt too bad but then Night came and you can hear everything above you! The people above us were so loud it woke us up and you can hear everything in the hall. Unfortunately after I was woken up I couldnt get back to sleep because of the soft saggy hammock they call a bed. The staff was kind but that cannot make up for the poor accommodations.
Hotel offers free parking and breakfast but the building/room is outdated and desperately needs to be refurbished. The room we were in had some nail heads sticking out from the carpet, good thing nobody was injured from those nails. The closet door fell off from its railing. AC is noisy. The only plus side I see would be its vicinity to legoland but i would not repeat my stay here.
Before I booked it I called and asked for late check out since I was driving in from out of town and had an interview. They confirmed. But at 8am in the morning while I was studying for my interview there was construction above my room. I reported it but after a small pause the noise continued. The staff didn’t seem receptive or didn’t follow up on my room change request. I called front desk twice so I gave up. Won’t be staying here again. Wish I could load the video I took since the noise was very loud and the walls or ceilings are thin. Bummer as it was a major distraction.
Location to Legoland was great. Morning breakfast wasnt bad but the bed and pillows not great. They would have been if you dont need any sort of support or prefer a firm bed. Room wss clean bathroom was spacious but like always different than the website. 5 stars to Franki. I believe that was his name super friendly and got us a table among the early morning crowd in the breakfast area.
Clean and comfortable in 2017 / 2018. This year, new general Manager I think.?. Waste of money. They did not clean our room. Food dropped during refill of warmers. Picked it up and returned it to the pan with the rest of food being served. Wow. Not enough. Handled garbage bag exchange with same gloves on and returned to serving. Notified them. Told there trying to use the info to retrain, and I was pretty much bothering them seeing they where already paid. So I returned to Radisson Hotels ,where they care about your stay, your comfort as well as CLEANLINESS. I care about food poisioning, do you then run away as fast as I am.
Pros: walking distance to legoland, large room with kitchen amenities, free breakfast, friendly staff and great customer service. Cons: Dirtest Hyatt I have ever been to in my 20+yrs as a Hyatt reward member. Hard to believe it carries the Hyatt name, had to change rooms due to peeling cracked tub, new room had mold in bathroom, dirty dishes and silverware in cabinet, carpet in halls smells and is filthy, paint peeling on walls and doors and only 1 elevator.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay!!! Will come back and highly endorse. Complimentary breakfast way above average. Staff very courteous and accommodating. Shuttle service fantastic. Great place to stay while kids & grandkids stayed at Legoland Hotel. Short 7-8 minutes by courtesy van. Also free happy hour with appetizers!
Room is clean and big, linens are well prepared, breakfast is hot, including cooked-to-order omulet, from savory to sweet. The only downside I can tell is the room key. My keys didnt work till I gwt back to the reception for three times. I think they need to replace the entire magnetic key system.
Perfect for a family going to Lego Land. If you avoid the weekend you get way better prices. And the flower fields are really close by, they are worth seeing. It is just a short drive to the beach, and they have a free shuttle to and from Lego land. The breakfast buffett was decent. the pool was nice and it was very clean and quite.
Stuck there last week and found the front-desk staff to be NOT at all helpful, nor welcoming. Customers seemed merely a nuisance. Wow, not a pleasant experience. The breakfast and cleaning staff were very nice however. Breakfast great; although I definitely would NOT go back.
Hotel is dank and dark and musty. Got a knock on the door in the middle of the night from a hotel employee stating that a guest had complained there was cigarette smoke coming from my room. (I dont smoke). I told the employee I dont smoke and asked her if she could smell smoke. She said no. half an hour later, another knock. It was the same employee saying they were still getting complaints and that NOW she could smell smoke. There was no smoke. She said they were going to charge my credit card for violating the no-smoking policy. Hotel employees are rude, impolite and disrespectful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The walls seemed paper thin - we could hear everything in rooms around us. The breakfast was kind of a mess of people with nowhere near enough tables to seat them all. The eggs were powered and reconstituted which is sad considering other Hyatt hotels use properly cooked food. Check in was fine and quick though so theres that.
I have stayed at a HYATT Place several times before so I was sure to find some similarities. Upon arrival, the host at the counter, the face of the Hotel, was friendly and attentive. Although the host seemed like he was elsewhere, he was able to carry mind my small-talk and answer all of my questions on the spot. I was offered a choice in floors! I chose the top floor, 3rd. The elevator, halls, and other common areas were clean (just like the HYATT Place). When I opened the door to our room I realized immediately why the price was middle-ground. I didnt expect the HYATT House to actually look like a House, or an Apartment for that matter. The bedroom had a door to isolate from the living room. The bathroom was clean and it too had a door to isolate it from the bedroom. The washroom (sink and mirror) was within the bedroom space. The living room had a comfy couch and ottoman, similar to those at the HYATT Place. There was a kitchen with: a full-sized refrigerator (approx. 18 cu.ft.), a sink with hot/cold water, a microwave, a range top for cooking (no oven, thats ok), a full set of 4 each dishes/cutlery (knives, forks, spoons, plates, glasses, mugs, wine glasses) stored away in the kitchen cabinets and drawers. There was a toaster and traditional hotel coffee maker. Also, the kitchen has a counter that has 2 cushioned stools located on the living room side. The air conditioning is the common wide-under-the-window unit, but the controls are on the wall in the bedroom - it was a good and quiet unit. There was ample closet space with iron & board. A vanity desk in the bedroom. A television in both the Bedroom and Living room with a DVD Player (along with a computer hook-up) in the Living room. A writing desk in the Living room with an Ethernet cable to provide wired internet should you not want to use the wireless connection - either connection is Free. The hotel room was clean and well kept. The pool looked inviting and well kept, though we did not use it. The complimentary breakfast was just right. They also have a Social Hour (aka happy hour) where they serve complimentary drinks. This was strategically located a block off the 405 fwy off-ramp and we didnt hear the sound of the fwy, not a problem at all. The location of the hotel brings you a few blocks away from LEGOLAND and many other fine eateries - google map the area, you will see. The hotel has shuttle service to LEGOLAND, though we did not use it. I would definitely come back here, the wife and kids enjoyed the stay.
While slightly smaller than some other hyatt house properties, its absolutely up to hyatts high standards. Room was clean and comfortable (kitchenette is a bonus), and the staff is top notch. The only downside (to me, it would be an upside to some) is the proximity to legoland, as this meant it was full up this weekend. We had a freeway facing room, but thanks to doubled up windows, youd never know it...impressive!
HORRIBLE!!! checked into room that wasnt cleaned so had to ask for another one (like literally there was linen all over the floor). second room wasnt much cleaner either, carpets smell horrbile like moldy and dirty. when checking out I was charged again for the room which was already paid. they didnt even tell me I accidentally found that out. then had to complain to get my money back. AVOID
Impossible to sleep -- alert to light sleepers: this hotel is next to a busy train station on one side and busy high way on the other. so if you are the type of person who can sleep in noise, ignore this review, otherwise, I would absolutely not plan on getting another sleepless night even if it is free. I would have given 0 if I could.
***written AFTER Hyatt bought the hotel***good, not great place for legoland. complimentary breakfast and m-th happy hour are great. legoland shuttle is good. we had 5 people and housekeeping could *not* remember 5 towels and extra blankets. room is *very mediocre*. small kitchen is nice, tv service/channel selection is minimal. shower is tiny with crappy water pressure. situated nicely near legoland but also right near interstate 5, which is loud on the east side rooms. ok hotel, but rather expensive for what you get.
Requested a late check-in, which was fine. But when we arrived no one was at the front desk. I called and called with no answer, ended up waiting 15-20 mins before someone finally came back. The hostess then complained about another guest, not very professional. Other than that first experience, so far so good.
This is definitely not your typical Hyatt experience.. feels more along the lines of Best Western type hotel. Ive had issues here [ie poor internet connection, thin floors leading to noise.. etc] but the staff always tried hard to fix the problem. They just dont have a Hyatt quality level property to work with.
WRITTEN AFTER HYATT HOUSE OPENED** This place looked decent but after we left they over charged us. when we called to find out what was going on they told us there was a problem with their system because it showed they only charged for 2 nights. then the gm got on the phone and said that they smelled smoke in the room. i dont smoke and i had my 10month old daughter with me. this place is unprofessional and they need to get it together.
Lock your car doors! Someone went through my car (my bad yes but FYI it happens here).. Other than that, good free breakfast, full kitchen (only 2 electric burners), clean heated and lit pool, decent beds and sheets, dingy carpets, 5 minute drive to Legoland, beach, and all kinds of restaurants.
Breakfast was a circus. First they were out of breads, then coffee, then waffle dough. Add to that a 50 minute wait for eggs, kids screaming and orange juice all over the floor, and the HYATT team doing nothing to correct the problem. When asked to speak with the manager on two separate occasions,I was told ed ,no managers where working today. Surprise! !!.
...tried out this location largely on the strength of repeat visits to the HH in Pleasant Hill (on Contra Costa...). Hate to sound like this is adding to the list of mixed reviews, but...found those staff assigned to breakfast duty to be sluggish in clearing tables, especially with the turnover-volume. Can empathize somewhat having spent the first half of my life working in a variety of restaurants myself, but the health inspector might shake their heads at a number of deficiencies...Pity because otherwise the rooms appear to be within HH standards and quite comfortable, and otherwise relaxing for the usual TV, napping/sleeping or casual reading/internet vegging. As per the other reviews, cant knock the location--for shopping, the beach, cycling or touring the greater San Diego area. Even got used to the commuting train towards bed-time once again, but this HH has some help as weve enjoyed staying at a nearby competitor, too--another story...
I wont be going back. My mother-in-law presented her AARP card at the desk at the time of check in and when the bill came in a few days later they didnt apply it, everyone makes mistakes or whatever so we just asked them to change it. Well after dealing with the rude employees that YELLED at us and the dumb manager they still refused to change it. Ended up cancelling the reservation and leaving.

2022-05-25Roaches in our room. Rooms were dated and not very clean! The halls smelled of stale dead things. Bed wasnt comfortable, and did I mention the 2 roaches I killed in the bathroom. You couldnt pay me to stay here again and do NOT trust Priceline for this deal. They lied!Oh BTW, the pool was and jacuzzi were inaccessible, so what was the use being here??? Youve been warned

2022-03-05This is now Carlsbad Suites ...no longer Hyatt House. It is rated 3.5 stars but its about 2.5 in actuality. I was placed in a horrible room. The manager took good care of me however. She put me in a better room and gave me a discount. If it werent for Mandy (?) I would have left. She loves her customers and this hotel is lucky to have her. Im sure the hotel will be 3.5 stars again some day if Mandy keeps up her hard work.

2022-03-20Although the hotel was great value for money, there were several areas where it did not meet our needs:1. Hotel ran out of hot water one night2. Hotel stopped doing breakfast (which is fine) but didnt communicate it on their website or prior to arrival3. Some of the furniture and linens were in disrepair (the blanket had large holes)A couple other notes that are out of the hotels control but impacted our stay:1. Due to proximity to Legoland, the hotel was often loud over the weekend because there were a lot of families with children2. We tended to sleep early and the nearby train track caused a lot of noise every 30 minutesOn the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful, the location was very convenient, and the amenities (kitchenette, fridge, desk) suited our needs for the long weekend.

2021-08-24This place stinks in more than one way. Filthy, musty, and grime-y environment. Expect the bare minimum in all aspects with this dump. Save your money and find a Motel 6, this place only looks ok from the outside. Inside the rooms the furniture & appliances are stained, dirty, smelly & outdated. Make sure you document & photograph EVERYTHING that is damaged in the room the day you check-in so they dont try to charge you for anything you didnt do. The positive reviews on this property and the property attached to this are fake and some are left by the actual staff....that would explain why they act too busy to help the customer. The owner of this dump needs to stop being so greedy and entitled with the guests, and invest in customer service & etiquette.

2019-01-28Nice location for a traveler hotel. Nice clean design and spacious rooms. Next time I think we’ll cook j. The room since they have a full set of pots with an induction heat stove top. We could have at least reheated the pizza had we realized the microwave had a connection setting. My only complaint was the sliding bathroom door. It squeaked so loud. Otherwise, love the location and the property. Downtown Carlsbad is just five minutes away, but new shopping mall is just 5 minutes the other way. So you’re covered either way.

2019-01-06My two kids and self checked in on Thursday night for a 3 night stay. The check-in was smooth and quick. Our room was nice enough upon first inspection. Friday morning we got up early to go enjoy the complimentary breakfast and there were no plates, bowls, or seating available. I don’t know if you have traveled with young kids alone, but the comment from a staff member of “you can just go back upstairs to eat” was frustrating (FYI a 3yr old will spill every parcel of food and drink throughout the hotel). The coffee pot in my room was broken, there was unwashed dishes in the dishwasher, and no shampoo in the bathroom. At first these little things didn’t bother me much, just annoyances of having a full hotel. Then on Saturday night I got very irritated, upon returning to my room at 9:30pm, I found that no housekeeping service came through. The garbage was full, towels not replaced, nothing! Mind you yesterday I came back to the hotel twice and each time I saw 2-3 housekeeping carts on my floor, so there really was no excuse not to do a quick clean. I’m a easy person to please usually; but if I’m paying for a hotel room just make sure to clear out the trash, stock the coffee/shampoo, and make sure you have enough bowls/plates to feed the number of guests you offer food too.

2019-07-25This was one of the worst Hyatt hotels I have stayed in. When we entered the hotel the lady at the front desk was very aggressive and mean talking to us. Our room was very dark even with the lights on it still was very dark. In the “kitchen” our disposal in the sink didn’t work. When we used the bathroom sink when we had turned it on it would not shut off. We had to call the front desk but they said they don’t have any maintenance in the hotel so we had to get it fixed the next day. For such a big hotel they only have 2 maintenance people. In our room we were all trying to take an afternoon nap but the room above us was making noise and we called the front desk but she said you can’t make a noise complaint until after 10pm .... like what!? Also this hotel is next to a train so if you don’t like the noise while sleeping this hotel isn’t for you. Overall walking around in the hotel the bleach stained carpet and very old looking art. This hotel needs to be revamped and modernized.

2019-01-15Well pet friendly. Good breakfast. Beds uncomfortable sleeper sofa out dated n kind a grungy still left over hair on furniture. Had issues with room key had to go to desk quite often for new keys room phones dont work properly. When had room serviced the room didnt get vacuumed. And if you dont like noise dont stay here because the train blows by very often.
