I have shopped at the Humboldt store since I was a kid when it was in the mall. Yesterday I bought a hugely over priced shirt for 36$ and was told I could return it if it didnt fit since there are no dressing rooms. Of course the shirt doesnt fit so I go to return the shirt, Im told I can return only exchange which is ridiculous for a store with no dressing room. So I say fine I will exchange it then when I finally find something I actually want thats not insanely overpriced the same lady who told me I could return it yesterday says I dont think we can exchange this shirt because its dirty. I literally tried on the shirt and took it off put it back in the bag. After 20+ years of shopping at Humboldt store I will never set foot in there again. Edit no I didnt know that because I have never returned anything before never had a need to. So 10% inflation makes a 20$ shirt 36$, thats ridiculous. The price of the shirt has almost nothing to do with what made me so angry. Just because you have had a policy for a long time doesnt make it a good policy.

We stopped by this location today. Store attendant seemed annoyed that we were there (only customers) and was extremely unhelpful. After about 5 minutes, we left and drove to the Bayshore location. This time our experience was great and the crew were incredibly helpful and we were able to get the items we were after. I feel badly for the other customers that deal with the person in the Arcata store today.

As a loyal customer of 5 years, and as someone whos spent well into the 4 figures on glass at this shop, I wish I didnt have to write this review, but here we are. This review has nothing to do with the employees, as they are always nothing but pleasant and helpful. Moreso the unfortunate business practices that are undertaken here. Yesterday I stopped in and picked up a Blaze1 piece for almost $400, as well as a protective bag to keep it in, so about $500 in total. I was very pleased with the purchase and had looked forward to adding it to my collection. However, upon returning home, only after having briefly removed the piece from the bubble wrap it had been put in upon purchase, I held it up to the light to admire the line-work. However, upon doing so, when I looked more closely in the light, I noticed a small line on the glass, which upon further inspection, was a stress crack/likely manufacturing defect. Obviously I was quite alarmed by this, as the piece had only briefly even been outside the bubble wrap it was packaged in upon purchase. However, I had hope that as a loyal customer trying to continually support a local business, that theyd make it right. However, the only solutions Ive been offered are either A: 40% off an ADDITIONAL piece (aka spend even more than the $450 that had been spent on this single trip in, let alone the aforementioned thousands of dollars.) Or B: Contact a local repair shop or the artist to see if it could be repaired. I did the latter, and the artist not only said that even if a repair attempt was made it could just make it worse, that if it was his shop, he would immediately exchange the piece. (This artist also owns multiple head shops himself.) In short, while I understand that legally speaking, Humboldt Clothing has a final sale policy, so *technically* they didnt even need to offer me anything. However, I would have thought a business as deep rooted in our community as this one would look at it more from an ethical standpoint than simply a profit oriented one, and make more of an attempt to remedy what was clearly a mistake in quality control. Im sure they have this policy in place to keep themselves from getting scammd by idiots who dont take care of their glass, but again, as a small business dealing with a loyal customer, and a defect that was clearly not my fault, I would have thought theyd be able to be bigger about the situation and make an exception. Ill unfortunately no longer be able to consider myself a customer here, and would recommend others do the same for their functional glass needs.Tl;dr: Unfortunate as it is to have to say this, buyer beware. This shop may sell you cracked/flawed glass at full price that should never have even been in the shelf and then do little to nothing to remedy the problem (as is their apparently flawed business policy)

Got a sweet zip up, a hat and a beanie. All good material, plus the girl working at the desk was super helpful

Wonderful packaging of products ordered online. A Thank you bag was a sweet touch wrapped around a beenie, and a card stock envelope ensured great condition of a sticker upon arrival. They go beyond other businesses! The products themselves are lovely too. Thanks!! : )

Staff was very helpful and price was reasonable. Prices for items were competitive with online marketplace prices. So in my opinion, it was a great place to shop. Definitely ask about additional in-store promos.

My favorite second hand/ vintage clothing store in town. The quality is great and the prices are cheaper than pretty much everywhere else selling similar clothing. Its also a fun, quirky atmosphere
