I tried to book a car rental through Hotwire with no success. Their system glitched and changed my dates. Hotwire electively refunded my money so I could rebook. When I tried to rebook they told me the new price was twice as much as I just paid even though I refreshed online and it was the same price. I was told that wasn’t accurate and that the price changed. I said I would book online and WHOA what do you know, it was the same price (not twice as much, like they said over the phone).I get to the car rental place, and suddenly need a $34 PER DAY insurance plan for no reason. I was told even if I purchase the insurance through Hotwire, I’d still have to purchase this insurance. My car rental was like $7 a day, so how do you figure I’m going to pay nearly 5 times that much for insurance? I called Hotwire and they refused to refund my money. I will never purchase through them again nor will I recommend them again. I’ve used their hotel services, but wouldn’t purchase anything from such a shady company.
My family booked a trip overseas for 2 weeks. The airlines were fine. All but two of the Air BnBs were fine. The car rental was a complete ripoff!!! We book a 4 door vehicle that would comfortably fit 4 passengers and 4 large pieces of luggage. When we arrived at our destination, Hertz said it was a compact car with little room in the back seat and NO room for any luggage. It cost us an additional $750.00. We had no choice but to pay. We were stranded. Hertz refused to accommodate our agreement with Hotwire and Hotwire refused to assist us. After our return to the states, I email Hertz and Hotwire. Hertz denied any liability stating we signed the contract (like we had a choice). Hotwire has not even answered my email.
Hotwire another once trusted business you can expect to have problems with booked trips in 2021. After 30 years of booking hotels, cars & air through them Ive had bad travel results with the last three booking services. I havent had hours of making calls, making other arrangements and been screwed around until the last 2 years. Do not be fooled by Hotwire car rental prices.In early September my fiancé and I decided not to put off our plans any longer and to elope that same month in a quiet, picturesque location in Northern California. We needed a car for our trip from San Diego, so we started browsing for car rental deals. Hotwire offered the lowest price.Per their requirements, we paid in advance for the entire 11-day trip, and because of Hotwire’s “opaque pricing” policy – not revealing the name of the car rental company until after paying – there was no way for us to be aware of any specific restrictions due to Covid-19. One can imagine the shock we experienced when we went to pick up the car at ACE car rental, one day before our wedding, only to be told that, due to Covid-19, we could not drive it outside of the county. There were other customers in the same situation as us – leaving the car rental facility with no car and no refund of the hundreds of dollars paid up front. Apparently, force majeure clauses do not apply and all bookings are final. One would think that Hotwire’s business practices would be more accommodating in times of pandemic. But it appears that they only care about making profit off the backs of unsuspecting customers.Shame on you Hotwire! I am spreading the word to make sure none of my friends or family ever make the mistake of doing business with such an unscrupulous company.
Don’t rent a car!!!!! I join the chorus of one star reviews and say stay away! I rented a car at an unbeatable price and it was so for a reason. After driving a few hours the oil change light came on. I stopped to check it and the oil was low. I called the company and they said the car was new and had never had an oil change, which means when I picked it up at 7021 miles it was already 2000+ overdue. I had to stop in the middle of nowhere and pay for an oil change. What’s more is that the only refund the company or Hotwire could offer was if I brought the car back that day. I was already 8 hours away and 3 hours from my destination. They said I could drop it off in Vegas but it was 300 miles out of my way and would’ve cost as much in gas as the refund would’ve given me and then I would’ve been stuck hundreds of miles from home and hundreds of miles for my destination. There were no other options other than to be reimbursed for the oil change and offered a 10% off next time coupon. I assure you there will not be a next time for Hotwire or NU Rentals. If Hotwire doesn’t care enough to make sure companies they contract do the most basic maintenance, then they don’t deserve your money or trust.
Unethical company!!!It times of need, when Covid-19 is raging and people are cancelling trips while fearing for their lives, it is every businesss responsibility to make sure they take care of their customers and offer a refund or a re-booking option.We booked a hotel in L.A. through Hotwire, then had to cancel it due to Covid leading to travel restrictions. And so we lost over $1200, because Hotwire would neither refund the hotel, not re-book it, nor help us with the situation in any way. They kept on saying that the hotel is responsible for that. When we called the hotel, they told us that Hotwire was responsible for refunds. It appears that Hotwire just pocketed our money.Unfortunately for us, we also bought a plane ticket to Europe for our son through Hotwire. When the flight got cancelled, we contacted the airline directly and they told us, that our entire reservation got cancelled by Hotwire. So basically we couldnt re-book to another later date through the airline any longer.My husband called twice trying to talk to the customer service. First time they said they would call back - never did. Second time they kept on forwarding his call to yet another representative. After 4th time my husband was put on hold for good... he started calling at 6pm, and someone finally took his call at 12am while he was already sleeping next to his phone. Ridiculous!We will never book anything with Hotwire again!!
Terrible. My mom booked with them for my wedding. Changed her flights,to 8 minute layover,, then no option for her to change her flight booking online. She had to call. Almost 2 hours on hold and they hung up on her. Still no response from any of them other than my department doesnt handle this. So it will be at least 4 hours wasted on hold before we can get things straightened and thats if we get someone who can help and dont get hung up on again.
I spent several hours on the phone this week trying to get a misspelled name corrected on a plane ticket. Super long time on hold each time, dropped phone calls, and agents who didnt know what to do. I messaged them finally and got pat answers that werent helpful. When I asked to be contacted by a supervisor they said our managers are not customer-facing. Finally got a message that said We value you and all our customers and try our best to provide a service that we are pride ourselves upon, but we cant get it right every time.
We booked a car through Hotwire in February. We found out in June our plans were cancelled due to the pandemic. We tried to cancel our reservations only to be told no. We tried to change our reservation by two days, and we were told no. Their customer service reads a script and will not allow you to escalate to a manager. They state that due to contractual obligations with their rental car companies they can not issue a refund or change reservations if you receive a HOT RATE. The car rental company we were using stated they would not charge any late fees or cancellation fees to anyone having to make changes due to the pandemic. Basically, Hotwire is stealing your money. They would not have been able to predict a pandemic when they wrote their contract with their customers. Do not use this company ever for any reason. They are crooks.
This company is a DISGRACE. I had reserved 3 cars for a convention that unfortunately was canceled due to COVID. After a week trying to contact them by phone and email I finally received a response by IM. I told them I had to cancel these 3 cars because the convention was canceled and asked them for a credit and they told me because you booked a car with a special rate there are no refunds or credits. So they STOLE over $1500.00 for cars that were never rented. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE. THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE WHO WERE IMPACTED BY COVID. THEY ARE THIEVES. STAY AWAY FROM HOTWIRE.
So far Ive had good experiences with Hotwire. Ill update this review, if necessary, once finished with the current booking. The site helped me plan my trip, but I dont think it saved me money on the bundle purchase (I realized after booking and paying in US funds). All information should be fully disclosed before paying and I hope they will amend the current situation (upon arrival in Cancun Avis said and had me sign that a $2800 USD would be applied to my card).
This will be the last time a make a booking with Hotwire. I have booked for years and always felt it was a great value for a great price. This booking to St George Utah. Showed me that Hotwire has lost its edge. Price of room for what we got was “okay” not even great not even a deal! I could have called and got the same rate and I could have got the rooms at least on the same floor. The lack of detail on being able to CHOOSE what you need on Hotwire has lost me as a customer! I booked 2 rooms at the same time. That would mean we were traveling together, but not when booking on Hotwire ! Misleading photos of the actual rooms. Just some of the annoying things. Hotwire just isn’t MOVING WITH THE CHEESE. My advise is start using another search engine for your traveling needs. Hotwire is too outdated
Absolutely the worst travel experience of my life. Missed my outgoing flight so I called to save my return flight and paid a fee to keep it because I bought a one way ticket to get to my destination. When I went to check in for my return flight I was unable to do so and called the airlines who told me I was not booked on that flight. I had paid an additional fee to keep that ticket home so I called Hotwire where I spent 3 hrs on the phone 90% of it on hold. I was told there was a fee to reinstate my return flight to which I told her I had already paid it and had bank records to prove it and cell phone records showing the calls to Hotwire. I told her I had paid an additional fee for a service they havent provided me. She was unable to get me on the original returning flight I paid a fee to keep even though I was looking at the same flight on the airlines website which showed 3 seats available. She told me that they could waive the fee but I would have to pay the difference of the ticket which they said they would refund later but they couldnt get me on a flight until 9 pm that night arriving at 830am the next morning at my return destination. My original flight had me leaving at 330pm and arriving at 8pm with a layover. I couldnt trust them to handle anything at this point especially refunding me the difference of the ticket they wanted me to pay up front. I ended up buying the same ticket through the airlines that I originally had with Hotwire. This cost me an additional $400 on top of the $125 they charged me to keep my return ticket but failed to do so. When a service is advertised and a fee charged but no service provided doesnt that constitute as theft or fraud? Stay away from them their customer service is atrocious and their corporate line forwards you to their customer service.
Hi Neha. My husbands account has been locked and needs attention asap!! For some reason im unable to book a room because someone blocked it!! Its been 3 days now that ive been trying to getahold of risk management and so far i have no phone calls from them. Im tired of calling and not being able to use my account and use my hot dollars that i have in it. And i dont think its fair that you guys wont me use my hotdallars that were not earned but i paid for. And i dont think its fair that im unable to use them. I can not recommend using Hotwire. I have used them for the past few years to book rental cars but I wont be any longer. The first bad experience was on me. We had to reschedule the trip due to conflicts with the job I was visiting and Hotwire is unaccommodating if you book one of the cheaper Hot Rate options. Thats fine...shame on me.However this time around my poor experience was 100% on them. Be ware....they do not hold their sub contractors accountable. The first problem when I arrived was that the rental car company they sent me too was not at the airport... the second is that there was no shuttle anywhere to be found. The email from Hotwire gave me two phone numbers to call Ace car rental and both numbers were incorrect. After calling Hotwire and waiting for nearly an hour and a half a shuttle finally arrived to pick me up. While waiting for the shuttle to pick me up I took it upon myself to read the reviews of the rental car company Hotwire had directed me too.....1.8 star reviews on Google. I cant believe a company such as Hotwire will send their customers to a sub contractor with such poor rapport. Every review was spot on with the experience I had. Waiting forever to find a shuttle, poor customer service/rude employees, dirty run down cars.....on to the next issue....I rented a Yukon or similar full size SUV....what ACE car rental gave me was a Mitsubishi Outlander....smaller than my Ford Explorer at home. There is no way on Earth you can fit three large bags in the luggage area of this car and seat seven (As hotwire advertised).... it isnt even remotely comparable to a Yukon. We ended up having to rent a second car to fit five adults and five carry on bags. The car was beat up and dirty. Used Starbucks napkins in the door pockets, stains etc and grime etc.I called Hotwire to request a vehicle that was actually comparable to a Yukon and was told that since ACE considered it a full size SUV (Comparable to a Yukon), there was nothing they could do. They offered to conference call me in with ACE and when I agreed they put me on hold.....for fifty five minutes!!! I was on the pone for an hour and 26 minutes! Im sure she was trying to get me to hang up but since I had no where to be I stayed on the line. Finally she came back to me and apologized for the wait and said she couldnt reach anyone at ACE. This is poor professionalism and poor customer service. I will taking my business to their competitors.
I have been a long time hotwire customer and now find myself victim of the hotwire greed and theft. I have a car rental in Hawaii for may and hotwire is refusing any refunds or credits. They are ignoring this global crisis and simply hiding behind a shield of no refunds. This is not a normal cancellations the hotels are closed and Hawaii requires 14 self quarantinePlease dont use hotwire or any Expedia owned company
I am a commercial pilot and began utilizing Hotwire for my car rentals at airports I land at. My VERY FIRST booking, I was unable to complete the trip because of weather but Hotwire refused to refund it. I will be renting 2-3 cars A MONTH for the very far forseeable future and that didnt phase them. They would rather piss off a very profitable customer than to eat $100 and make more in the long run. NEVER USE HOTWIRE
I was forced to chose a star to start but honestly will not even give them a 0 Star. I made a car rental reservation (convertible), paid it in advance and it clearly indicated that nonrefundable which was okay to me because I needed the car. I thought on the other side of the contract was if nonrefundable then you make sure i get my car when i get there. But that was not the case, when I got to the airport to pick up my car I was told locals cant rent a convertible (Advantage-Rent-A-Car). I called Hotwire all they could say was sorry. I booked it with local address one week in advance and their office didnt even know this rule. I havent receive my refund yet waiting to speak to public relation office.
Be careful with hotwire they are not refunding nor making changes. Poor customer service. Negative in my book. Michigan numbers are rising with Covid19 and they dont care. Saying there rules are not to refund or make charges. Will file a complaint with the Attorney General in CA and MI customers affairs.
I had a meeting scheduled for the morning in a city several hours away so I went through Hotwire Hot Rate for a better deal on a hotel. Ive used the service once before for the same purpose, sunk several hundred dollars into it in fact, as well as to book flights, so I was coming back to use it again. I have many meetings coming up due to my line of work and was planning on being a repeat customer, using their service exclusively every time I need to stay out of town because I was impressed with the rates. However, after my meeting was canceled last minute and I was flat out refused a refund or any sort of incentive to continue being a customer, I will not go through this service again.Anything I save booking through their service is negated when I am not allowed to cancel. Saving a little money should not be contingent upon the agreement that you will actually lose an upwards of $100 if your plans wind up changing. Additionally, there is no contingency for a hotel that is filthy/infested/unlivable, which is completely irresponsible on their part.This complete lack of flexibility tells me that they have no sense of customer loyalty and really dont care about or appreciate my business. Because of this, I will be forced to take my business to a company that does.Just to note: the hotel itself accepts cancellations, understanding that plans can change, but because they get paid through Hotwire, I had to go through Hotwires customer service in order to do so. Hotwire refuses to honor the policies of the hotels they work with which I consider to be sleazy.Also, multiple reviews on here sound canned, like people who worked for the company wrote them. They sound like commercials, not like honest reviews. I see Hotwire reps all over the internet defending their shady business practices and shaming customers for trusting that the company wouldnt try to swindle them, Im not surprised.
The value fare stated that my flight would be from 10pm Sunday 10/27/19 and will arrived same day. After payment was processed, I got the itinerary for 5:30AM Sunday. Called 3x to explain their online ad might have an error and should be fix. I just want either refund me the money, change my flight to PM to match with their advertise, or give me a credit to book a diff flight. NO option was given and I basically just have to live with it even thought this is clearly their system error.
I needed a pet-friendly hotel to stay in to see my grandmother the other weekend. The hotel that I found after doing a query for pet-friendly hotels came up and since it was the nicest one I could afford, I booked it right away. That same day I get down there and was then told that the hotel was in fact not pet friendly! I called and waited over an hour to talk to someone at Hotwire that day and after my phone died, I gave up and had to spend even more money at LaQuinta. Now Hotwire will not refund my money nor accept the fact that their databases are returning faulty results. BEWARE! I will happily spend my money on their competitors services, and will ensure everyone in my family as well as my friends take their business to Priceline or another service.
Never...and I mean NEVER do business with this company. We had the worst experience getting a rental car that we ended up not even getting because the company they book through is being investigated for fraud (why would hotwire do business with them anyway?).We were advised by Hotwire to try and go ahead with the rental (which we did), and when we were left stranded...we had to pay $100 for an Uber back to another rental car company AND Hotwire refuses to give us a refund. What is up with that? They dont care about their customers AT ALL...dont do business with them!Seriously...avoid Hotwire like the plague.
BUYER BEWARE Its unfortunate that this company (Hotwire) promotes and accepts payments on behalf of car rental companies (ACE Rental Car in Ft Lauderdale, FL) that provide unsafe vehicles (bald tires). Then when you call them out on it expecting a refund when you spent half a day trying to solve the problem with them and ultimately having to spend another half a day (the next day) returning the vehicle (going elsewhere to a legitimate rental business) that should have never been used for a rental, then being lied to about having to get the refund from Hotwire by the manager - left note for when Hotwire calls them -note was a lie btw- oh and the manager no longer works at ACE two days after. BOTH SHADY BUSINESSES!. Venting after spending more (2 hours) time trying to resolve and getting the runaround from both companies. Credit card dispute department said they are part of a group of companies that always provide such experiences and expect that they usually wont reply to the dispute. Should have done that in the first place and never will we do business with Hotwire, Expedia and ACE car rental.
Would love to give a zero. Joined HW in 2004 and began using them. I needed one change for those weekend and they would not do it. Did it once before for me. Even went to tiny brained Nick Graham who had a lackey call me to tell me that there is no breaking the policy. Never again will I use Hotwire after this.
I am active duty military and booked a flight for my child care to meet me at my next duty station. My orders were changed, so I tried to change my flight. Hotwire refused to help after numerous calls. They ended up telling me to call the airline, who told me Hotwire had all the power to help. I will never use Hotwire again.
NEVER again will I ever rent through hotwire. In renting a car through the web site it is misrepresented when entering a loyalty ID for the rental of the vehicle. There is no indication of not honoring the request. As I went through the process and used my ID and my credit card, the full amount was charged to my card and I ended up with a car from Hertz when requesting National at the local airport. I WILL share this with my fellow consultants and the Corporate customers that I deal with, which are many. I called customer service (located in the Philippines) and the woman on the phone was very rude when I asked to speak to a supervisor. She placed me on hold for several minutes and got back on the line and said that nothing can be done. Finally, after asking 5 times I was able to speak to a supervisor. She said nothing that she can do. Again, I will NEVER recommend this site to anyone.
Total SCAM Artist and no service after the fact. We booked a vacation for Gatlinburg TN Dec 1-11 and had to cancel because of a wildfire disaster. These idiots refer you to a call center in India and they dont know anything about the fire. We called the property representatives and they said a full refund would be given. Found out later our reservation was a pay at check in and no charges were made. On day 2 we have gotten2 emails, the first said we would receive a refund of $901 and the second email later that day said it was a pay later reservation and no charges would be made. On day 3 we get a call from a Harlan demanding we refund the refund from them. He was very demanding and wanted us to call our bank and authorize a refund immediately. We denied and after checking with our Bank we have gotten no refund and there was no charges made. This was all done during a major disaster and these scumbags try and take advantage of people. We are filing with Tennessee State Attorney Generals Office Consumer Fraud Division. Also, if a refund does show up then after we speak with the CEO of the company we might authorize a refund. We have demanded to speak with management each time we called and never got anyone. I researched and tried other numbers listed but you can never get through. BUYER BEWARE!!!!
Called a hotwire rep to help with my reservation. I asked her if the property had air conditioning and she said it did. She also said the beds would be comfortable and sufficient for my husband and I. She also stated I could cancel my reservation without penalty and with a full refund as long as I did it within 45 days. When I received the name of the hotel I looked it up and it did not have air conditioning. Also they did not have normal beds only bunk beds or a sofa bed. So I emailed within 12 hours and said I wanted to cancel my reservation. They emailed back and said I could only cancel by phone. I was on hold a full hour and no one picked up the phone nor did they have a way I could leave my phone number to call back. I called back again and was on hold another 20 minutes and no one picked up. I emailed again. NO response. I will never use hotwire again. They misrepresented vital information to me to get me to make a reservation and then they are not living up to the commitment for a refund.
I am saddened by your lack of ability to resolve what I thought would be a simple issue. I booked a flight on the 20th of Jul and called back within 24 hours on the 21st of Jul to cancel. When I called initially I was told you guys were having technical issues and to call back in two hours. I raised the issue of Delta having taken money out of my account for a booking I needed to cancel. I was told to call back in two hours. I then called Delta who gladly cancelled the flight. I returned the call to your establishment in two hours just to be told I wouldnt be fully refunded because of my call to Delta. Firstly when I called initially I shouldve been told not to call Delta. Secondly if youre operating in good faith you would honor the fact that I called you initially and its not my fault you were having technical difficulties. Its ridiculous to be told you couldnt refund my ticket when you have a policy that extends the courtesy to your customers who call within 24 hours to cancel. If you care about the customer and my business you have an awful way of showing your care.
A one-star rating is generous. My wife had a medical issue where she wasnt able to travel and I tried four times to get a refund for our trip. My requests were met with confusion from customer service and then repeated push back that the faxes and emailed documentation for justification were never received (even though I faxed and emailed to the numbers given). All their customer service responses are canned. I understand that their just doing what theyre told. This is a corporate issue that needs addressed by echelons of leadership. I will definitely not waste a dime of my money in this companys service again.
I have previously used hotwire with the expected amount of headache for such cheap rates. However, I will never use them again. I purchased and paid for a hotel reservation using the mobile ap. After my card was charged, I was told hotwire was unable to honor the reservation. After many phone calls, I was out the money and still had no reservation. After being connected to their call center in India, customer service was very rude, refused to connect me to a manager, and only provided me with a number to call that went automatically to a voice mail. As far as I am concerned, hotwire has taken money for a service that they couldnt provide. After submitting a complaint to the BBB, I was informed there are currently over 1800 complaints similar to mine.
I wish I could give 0 stars. This company is absolutely terrible. I made reservations for a rental car and then tried to call customer service to add days. I tried calling for two days straight. I called 4 times in one day. When I finally got through, they could not help me because their Hot Rates are locked in and you cant add a day which in turn would make them more money. So their option was to make a separate reservation for the additional day you need, then you drive back to the rental company after your first reservation is over, just to get another identical car instead of keeping the first one.....Long story short, save yourself all kinds of hassle, DO NOT EVER EVER USE HOTWIRE!!!!!
MINUS 20 STARS!!!!Hotwire is a SCAM!!! They advertise the best deals but there are CATCHES! Its a BS (bait and switch, but yes BS too!) OPERATION!! The price you pay for isnt the end game. I rented a car through Hotwire for ADVANTAGE car rental, at a great rate for the 4 days I needed. PREPAID with my credit card, but when I get to the counter, they added all kinds of fees and charges that took the price well over my prepaid amount, stating since I live in GA, the state Im renting the car from, there was a $20/day gas charge, when I already paid for UNLIMITED mileage! OH HELL NO!! Then, they want to add a deposit to a PREPAID rental, of $250 and put a hold on my card! ITS PREPAID!!! I read all the fine print before submitting my credit card information and reserving the car only to get to the counter and be told everything I read was a lie! HOTWIRE REFUSES TO REFUND MY MONEY, but Im going through my credit card company to request a refund, especially since I never signed for nor rented the car. BIG FING RIP OFF!!!! I booked a car rental from 6:30pm on Feb 27th to 6:30 pm on Mar 2nd. During the process of choices, I checked for many times and it showed the day span is 3 days, with the price at $30/day. Also, I added insurance which is $9 daily. I am very confident that I did it, because I discussed with my boyfriend before making this decision.Thus, before I clicked the confirm button, the total price is 30 (for rental per day) *3 days + 9 (insurance)*3 days +40 (tax) = about 160.Since the total price on the confirmation was also about $160, I didt go through the details on that day on Jan 19th.However, today I found that actually on the reservation there are two mismatches from what I selected:(1) It changed the drop off time to be 1 hour later, so that the day span has been changed to 4 days!!!(2) It showed no insurance in this order!!!The total amount after these two mistakes is still around $160. That was why I didnt realize it right away.Today I called hotwire, and told them what happened to me. They rejected to do any efforts and insisted what were shown in the reservation was done by me. I explained that I am sure about my selections on both time and insurance. For example, my flight will leave Miami at 7pm, so it is impossible that I planned to return the car at 730pm.Then, the agent hang up the phone without any notification nor solutions.I dont think that this is the quality of service that Hotwire is providing. People all make mistakes, but at least we should try to resolve it, instead of just rejecting and stop communication.
Made a booking and wanted to cancel it, instead I was transferred to the insurance company to ask for a refund of my booking, absurd right! The agent directing me to do this was in the Philippines and I couldnt understand a word, he was saying.They have a policy, that once you book a car you cant change the pick up times or the drop off times and you cant get a refund.I then called Hertz, to see if I can make the changes with them, to which they said only Hotwire can make those changes and, that Id have to be sick or dead for them to allow me to make any changes.
You cant book with confidence they dont do price match.We were hesitant to book with hotwire because there was alot of hidden fees but when we saw book with confidence we price match so we just went ahead a booked it. We needed 4 days total but only booked for 2 just in case we dont like the hotel.Thank God we did that because once we found out the hotel name we did more research and found a much better deal on Agoda. Cheaper, CAD currency and no booking fees. We called them right away and there was nothing they can do.What a ripped off!Dont book with hotwire! You will be guaranteed to regret your decision.
@hotwire has the worst customer service and does not help customers they have left stranded. I reserved 2 rooms in a Belgium hotel for my family as instructed on the website: 3 adults and 3 children ages 2-17. I did not input my 1 year old because the website didnt ask for it. When I got to the hotel, they informed me that I could not have 4 people in one room due to it being a fire hazard. Called up hotwire and they failed to make a sincere attempt to fix the problem. They told me this usually doesnt happen and the under 2 rule only applies to the US. More or less, they implied it was my fault for not mentioning the infant, despite following the website directions. I asked them to show me in the terms and conditions where it mentions anything regarding infants and they could not. I read the rules (while placed on hold) and saw nothing addressing this. Their solution: $25 (eventually increased to $35) credit to go toward another room. I told them that it was not fair that I should have to be forced into payment of another room when I made no mistake. They didnt make any other effort and wasted 90 minutes of my life. There was no ownership of their mistake and they wanted me to accept responsibility for this. Ive used hotwire many times in the past, but this experience makes me want to cut ties with them.
DO NOT book with hotwire! their customer service is terrible and they do not do anything to try to better any bad situation. i was told that they would not change the reservation. it took 45 minutes to get a manager on the phone and even she was extremely rude! when i finally had enough of their money hungry B.S. i demanded a refund which i was told would be immediately when i ask when i would be able to get a refund she said i could not because of the rate of the room . i will not be booking with them again and i recommend you do not either.
Good people and great office space! They have a vision and go for it. Hotwire has a start up vibe and values real people more than just compliant employees, if that makes sense. I love working here. We booked a car reservation through hotwire but advantage did not have the car when we arrived. the hotwire rep said theyll refund us the original amt and reimburse us for an alternative rental or transportation expenses for dates of the original rental. its been a month since we sent the receipts and there still have not been a reply.well never use hotwire again. in the meantime therere a ton of comparable options ie kayak, google, expedia so avoid at all cost
They took my money, cancelled my flight, and are refusing to give me a refund.They have played mind games with me. Ive been on hold for over 2 hours, they told me they couldnt get through to United Airways, but I was able to talk to a representative within 5 minutes. They told me they would send a refund form via email, and Ive never received it.They are crooks as far as Im concerned. Ill never book with them again.
Hotwire is pure evil. They ripped me off for a Hertz car rental in Minneapolis on 12/26/19 - Im realizing that a lot of other people have had very similar experiences and have also tried to contact various execs for help - probably a lost cause but I still want to add my review.
Last Thursday evening I called hotwire to reserve a rental car in Orlando. I told them I was traveling with a baby and needed a rental car agency that was on site at the airport terminal. They assured me that it was so I gave them my charge card number to run. When they told me the company I immediately told them that Sixt was not on site. They agent lied to me and told me that they recently moved to the terminal. I googled them while I was on the phone. They absolutely were not. I told them that I wanted to cancel because he lied to me and was told that I could not. I told them that I wanted to speak to a manager. Nick got on the phone and told me that there was nothing that he could do. I asked if the calls were recorded and he told me that they were. I asked him to review the tape. He told me that would take 3 - 5 days. I asked to speak to someone in America and he refused. I have been trying the California number for 5 days and no one answers. It took me over two hours to get my car that evening. I have used hotwire in the past but will never use them again.
I would give them negative rating if it was possible. Got a 3 star hotel but upon arrival it was worse than 1 star. When I called the customer line they still expected me to check in the hotel and stay in the room to see if it met my expectations. I told them that I would have take my luggage in a room that is already going to not meet my expectations especially when the hotel lobby was so dirty. Then they said they would change rooms and then they would consider finding me a different hotel. How can a service be so bad? They want you to take your luggage from room to room until you find a satisfactory room while they call the hotel staff and tell them how you are uncomfortable with their hotel so the hotel stuff knows that you already dont want to be there. Hotwire is the worst.
I would prefer a 0 star rating however, 1 star is the minimum. I tried to use Hotwire to plan an upcoming trip. However, I noticed the notes that I have highlighted in the photos. The quote Prices are roundtrip per person, include all taxes and fees, but do not include baggage is a lie.Pic 1: Shows the start and destination airports, as well as the dates and number of tickets.Pic 2: Shows the quote, as well as the ROUNDTRIP price of $116.Pic 3: Shows the quote as well as the price of $0 for the return flight.Pic 4: Shows an additional Flight Charge as well as adjusted taxes and fees.When speaking with tier 1 and tier 2 customer support, you are only told that prices change due to the airline. This would be ok if that was true however, you can restart, and plan the trip again, and still see the original $116 price. The airline does not change the price. Hotwire is artificially increasing the price at checkout. Customer support would not come out and admit the false prices. Avoid this fraudulent business!
I am so angry with Hotwire!! I have used them several times in the past for car rental and hotel rooms! I had previously booked a hotel room that was a 3 star rating. It was the Clarion Hotel in Charlotte, NC. Although the room was clean, the area was questionable (they share a parking lot with The Gentlemans Club) the service was nonexistent and the restaurant was a dive. So this next visit, I booked a 3.5 star hotel under their Secret Hot Rate tab. I assumed that since I was booking a 3.5 star hotel, that I would NOT get the Clarion! Wrong!! Hotwire did a Bait and Switch on me!! The listing said it was a 3.5 star hotel and when I booked it, it was the questionably 3 star Clarion again!! Classic Bait and Switch...is there someone to file a formal complaint to?? I may have to go back to Priceline, although they charge a booking fee and Hotwire does not! Beware of Hotwires Bait and Switch tactics!
Horrible experience. I booked my car Rental two weeks prior to guarantee a low rate amd they entered the wrong person name on the confirmation. Called back to make the change and I was quoted 150 more for the rental when they dropped the ball. I contact customer service 5times because they refuse to transfer me to a manager and continued to hang up on me. Not to mention the hold time. I thought I was the customer but no I was told even the President wouldnt make any changes so I need to except the quote given or go to another website. I would like to speak with the president of this company so I can really tell him or she how the off shore staff treated me. Bottom line we should keep all jobs in the US to assure we have the level of service deserved. I plan to tell everyone I know to never use this company. Social Media is the fastest way so if I d ok nt receive a call from someone in Corp by tomorrow before I arrive to my destination I will make sure I blast this company on every social media site I know. Im scheduled to fly to Florida tomorrow evening and while Im writing this post Im still holding for a Manger 49 minutes and holding with only 1 update every 10minutes. Guess my time isnt valuable and I have nothing better to do but listen to hold music because theyre refusing to help me. Hotwire sucks WARNING NEVER BOOK THRU THEM!!!!

This company is a scam. I will never use them again. I booked a room for the sole purpose of taking my kids swimming. I out the area I wanted the room in which is the very next town from me in Delaware. My state is the second smallest in the country so the next town is only 10 minutes away. After booking my room and looking at the secret room they chose. They had booked me in Maryland!!!! An hour and a till away. When I called customer service I spoke with Shane, Shane in the Phillipines.!! Shane told me I was stuck she has no supervisor that has any more power than her. She then put me on hold for 45min. I went ahead out of state to this hotel because my kids were excited to go swimming. When we arrived at the hotel it was ran down and none of the amenities were currently up and running. So inevitably I was robbed for $100 for nothing. And the customer service team does not care at all. I will be contacting the BBB.
Horrible customer service. They put us in a 1 star hotel that hotwire rated as a 4 star. The bathroom toilet seat had mildew growing underneath. Holes in the wall where the pipes were exposed. The hotel staff was unwelcoming and very unfriendly. Do not stay at the casa claridge in south beach Florida. Watch out for the receptionist Sasha. Somehow she thinks shes the owner. 3 ppl check in and she gave us 1 bed. Then asked if we were guaranteed a double bed. What happened when I called hotwire? The rep Leen threatened to cancel my reservation while im thousands miles away from home....That was her resolution! When asking to speak with a manager I was hung up on 5 times and told I was unprofessional.....Um im the customer!
HOTWIRE DOESNT CARE IF YOUR KIDS GET BITTEN BY BEDBUGSWe were travelling as a group with three babies and used Hotwire reservation to book 2 rooms while travelling late at night. The hotel allotted to us had extremely bad reviews concerning the hygiene of the hotel...mainly Bed bugs just last week. We tried to call hotwire to cancel or transfer to another hotel. We know their blind reservation does not allow us to see which hotel we are being booked into but they do PROMISE clean and hygienic rooms. We were unable to get through to anybody at Hotwire in the night (even though new booking calls were answered within seconds). We had to find another hotel at 12.30am with 3 screaming kids. In the morning we called Hotwire and finally got through to what they called their reservation change department. They said we should have checked in to the hotel and then given them a call saying we were unhappy. HOW THE HELL DO YOU CHECK FOR BEDBUGS AT 12.30am? Should we have stayed there, got bitten and then called Hotwire? Worse yet the bedbugs would have gotten into our luggage and then into our homes.All hotwire had to say was a repeat of This is how our model works! Your model works but only if you deliver what you promised...Clean & Hygienic rooms!
Scam. I tried booking a hotel in the city advertised on the Hotwire website and received confirmation of my reservation in a completely different location. The agents refused to provide a refund or change the booking to honour the mistake made by their system. Unacceptable customer service.
Terrible customer service and incorrect information displayed on their website. I booked a hotel based on the reviews saying it was 90%. After paying and seeing the name of the hotel, I cross referenced it on trip advisor and the ratings there were 72%. I called hotwire right away regarding the discrepancy and they said they never had it displayed as 90% but that the hotel rating is 82%! By this time the rating was no longer showing up on their website. I asked them to review the recording of their sales person who repeated the 90% rating to me at the time I made the booking but they refused to even though they said they had it. Basically called me a liar?!! i used them many times before but will never do so in the future...thats just terrible business practice to lie that blatantly to customers.
Worst company ever. I will never do business with them again. After being left stranded without my rental car which I booked through them, they gave me a hotdollar credit. However, what they dont tell you is that you cannot use that credit as you please, but it must only be used on hot rate at very specific locations. This company is the absolute worst, worst, worst. HORRIBLE. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS!
HOTWIRE ROCKS!!!!!!Tonight I had the worst hotel experience of my life: I did a reservation with Hotwire at the Holiday Inn Express in Hawthorne, California, close by LAX, the rate was great. Paid, had confirmation!When I arrived to the hotel they told me that they received the booking, but they did not accept, the rate was too low, someone made a mistake.I ask to speak with the manager on duty (there was a plaque on the wall with his name); they told me: he lives at 7, (it was 8:30 pm). So they called the supervisor, he confirmed me that they made a mistake but we called Hotwire was his excuse.The point is: they made a mistake!!!!!! In my world, when you make a mistake you try to fix it and you are accountable for it. .....NOT AT ALL in this hotel.BTW they took one hour to tell me that they would not have done anything about this problem.I ask to speak with the manager on duty (the supervisor told me that he took this position) and their answer was that it was not possible to speak with him because he was at home ....may be they do not know they invented the phone!!!!!!!!!!!!Anyway this people made a mistake on giving the rates at hotwire, did not fix it and, cherry on top, I was not even able to speak with the manager on duty .....because he was at home ......just insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!On top of all this, it was already 9:30 and the room was empty ...so they had lost revenues!!!!!!!On the other hand Hotwire was super professional, the lady at the call center moved my reservation to a better hotel, close by, and the paid for the difference.THANK YOU HOTWIRE, I felt very well taken care of!So, briefly:1) DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL, THEY DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!2) On the contrary trust Hotwire, they have been GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much for being a preferred customer!!! Under a 24 hour period we were placed on Hold then disconnected 8 times. We lost a total of 4 hours between all the calls and disconnects! Will not use them again. Disputing this reservation with my credit card company, and writing the Better Business Bureau next! Documented at the times and minutes wasted!
Worst experience of my life..... Charged my card 4 times for a car rental (with the assistance of customer service)...... Technically 5 times cause one is my actual rental. Im out $1302.72 on false charges...... That was my money to spend on vacation. So now I cant go on the trip and Im out $1686.62. So now Im out $2989.34...... I strongly advise not to use this service!!!!! THANKS HOTWIRE FOR RUINING MY ONCE IN A LIFETIME TRIP!!!!!!!
Be Warned! Do not use Hotwire or you will regret it, and the Days Inn motel, not a hotel, Days inn motel at 1533 huntington drive is the worst place they could ever send you. I wish I could show you the pictures. Hotwire is a straight rip off for doing that. They will take your money and send you to the worst hotel in the area. I will never again use horwire. I lost money because the hotel they sent me to wasnt worth staying in, even if it was free! I complained to the front desk about the smell, the ridiculous condition of the room, and I notified hotwire, but they refused to help the situation. Hotwire sent me to a crappy Days Inn motel and wouldnt accommodate me in any way. They took my money and refused to give me a credit. Use any other hotel booking site, but Hotwire is a Joke! And Days Inn at 1533 Huntington Dr in Duarte is an awful place to stay! ....Dont do it.

Absolutely HORRIBLE service. After spending hours on the phone with 5 different customer service agents regarding a name correction, I was unable to board my international flight. My two minor daughters had to board the plane to France alone while I was left to buy a last minute ticket, at great financial expense, to meet my daughters in France. Ill NEVER use them again!!!
Deceptive business practice of “bait and switch”. Posts a “special”. After an order is made and money taken, they post a wrong location (for example, LAX instead of BUR as requested). When asked for refund, they refuse by saying that it was a “final order” — with no refund.Then a good-hearted person appears, offers a one-time refund-reorder; no, just a refund cannot be made. So, an $80 reservation becomes a $140 deal.Why isn’t there a negative score (-) (+}
Booked a rental car back in Jan for this past week. Went to pick up the car and there was no car for me. Called Hotwire back and they told me they would cancel that one and found another for me closer to home. Got to that rental place and guess what... no car!!!! I will never use Hotwire again and I hope others dont either!!! It made me pick a star!!!!
I would give them less than one star if it was possible.They are a waste of time for renting cars. I reserved a car through themand they sent me to Hertz, who said that Hotwire was incorrect in whatthey said was needed to rent there. Two hours later and hours on the phone, No car and they took my money.
I am a loyal Hotwire customer, and have been for many years. This morning, I booked through their mobile app, which promised a $25 discount for doing so. It took me 5 tries to book the reservation, and then the promo code did not get applied. There was an error 434 the first 4 times and the last time it did go through. 40 minutes on hold later, I was informed that I had not booked through their app, I had booked through their mobile site. I dont know how that is possible since I had to re-enter all my information each time I used the mobile app (unlike the web site which has all my information saved). The service was atrocious and the value they place on feedback from customers was not impressive at all. Its a shame. Priceline has much better service in my experience.
They charged my card three times for one booking and denied it - even after a three way call with Bank of America who confirmed it. Customer support called me a liar, hung up on me, told me opposing information and refused to acknowledge what they had done - even after the bank told them directly. They ended by saying I was lying about the charges and refuse to refund me the (I now consider it stolen) money. The bank agreed that the money was clearly taken without consent and refunded me from their own pocket. I promise you - spend a bit extra to never have to go through what we just went through. Its ruined a holiday with my sister whom I see less than once a year. I deeply regret using them and will never make the same mistake again.
I booked the Super 8 at Rapid City, SD thru. hotwire for my family for the night of August 15, 2015, and I explicitly specified therell be 2 adults and 2 children during reservation. However, when I checked in, the hotel clerk gave me a room with only one king bed, and said thats the only available room they have.Even worse, the room was small and dirty. And therere cockroaches and moths in the room. I found one cockroach in my luggage and another two in the blanket I set (my son has to slept on it) on the floor. This is disgusting!!! In the mid-night, I heard something fly over in the room, and I turned on the light. Therere two moths flying in the room. Can you believe this???I emailed hotwire and wanted them to give me an explanation how come my booking a room of 4 people can be ended up with only one king bed. The customer service guy replied me insists that Hot Rate® Hotel bookings guarantee all rooms booked will accommodate the appropriate number of guests in each room, based on the total number of guests and the number of rooms requested at the start of the search. I asked him if 4 people can be fit into one king bed, they never reply me.I will never ever use hotwire again. Please be caution about this company.
I need to speak to someone in corporate immediately! I am irate at the service I have been receiving from this company. After dealing with getting a refund back for 3 months, your reps have given me the incorrect itenarary numbers, have stated they issued my refund and I never received it. Im to the point to where I have literally kept all documentation and am going to contact my lawyer. I have provided this company personal medical documents and even had to call my bank with them on the phone! This is not okay and I feel violated. I have sent medical documents that they have claimed they didnt receive 11 times by email and 5 times by fax. Your reps do not understand empathy and are constantly belittling your customers. This has been frustrating to say the least and quite honestly I will NEVER EVER go to this company again. I did have a good experience with Priceline though!
I booked studio 6 on Bullard through hotwire for the 12th and the 13th I was refused service from studio 6 on Bullard in Louisiana and was told I would get my refund back to the third party company that I did my booking with now why wont they fight for me to get my refund back Ive never stayed at studio 6 and I was refused service I look like a boy and Im starting to believe that this is a hate crime I want my freaking money
I reserved a room for two night using hotwire. I reserved and paid for a two star hotel and I am VERY SORRY to be here (in the hotel). The hotel is town motel in S.Francisco. The room cleaness is unknown, The carpet has several unkown spots and has bad smell. The thing that hurts me is the 2 star and 2 star and a half of expedia.The stars should have a meaning that in this case I do not see : may be stars means spots on the carpet ? ...
I have booked a Hotel with hotwire doing there star rating and when i got to the hotel the front desk told us that they couldnt give us a room because hotwire didnt pay the hotel yet. Front desk at the hotel and I was on hold with hotwire for 2 hours just to try to get someone to help us by the time we knew it 2 hours went pass and the guy just felt sorry for us because we had 2 young kids with us and just gave us a room. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BOOKED WITH HOTWIRE. BEWARE
Hot wire called me stupid, and said I cant read good because there add says the hotel was 4 1/2 stars and it actually was about 1/2 star. The room reminded me of chilligans island.(google that). There was a bug in our room about the size of a small canadian goose, that appeared to have been rotting under the sofa bed for about 3 weeks. The sheets had signs that intercourse had recently taken place on them, and the tub appeared as tho someone had used it to relieve themselves in-lu of the toilet!. Thanks alot hotwire!
I hate the fact that you have to book a freaking hotel with your cc as a final sale before you see the hotel or area you will be staying at! Plus I was traveling from Texas to California and turns out my booking was booked in Canadian dollars!!! I was charged an extra currency exchange rate on top of that plus some random $20 bucks which they cant help you out with or explain. Never again I seriously learned my lesson.
This is a terrible company. I used to love it and use it all the time. Something is going on. Just look at all the glowing negative reviews on their FB post. Hotwire never even respond to most of them including mine. At the very most, it is same statement of please contact our customer care who does not even care. This company is irresponsible and reckless. So sad.
This company which once was a nice business model and consumer friendly has disintegrated into a sham of a company. Now they specialize in bait n switches and customer service that is far beyond unprofessional and unknowledgeable. It is impossible to find an American agent any more to help with your issues and, while that in and of itself shouldnt be an issue, when the foreign agents are obviously reading from a prepared script it becomes apparent very quickly that you are just banging your head into a brick wall.
Rented a car on line put pickup at 11:00 am and dropoff 11:00 pm next day , showed my friend the times and dates to confirm ( he saw it clearly) we get to the rental they say were not supossed to be there till 11:00 pm. 2022-07-24My air conditioner went out in my home so we used our last to book through Hotwire. In the process of booking the app says Hotwire error and does not provide us with a confirmation email or number but they took our money. We call Hotwire and the rep says oh no we didn’t take it we’re holding it we will release it is 7-9 days. But she’ll be happy to rerun and rebook which means to recharge our card AGAIN !!! Hello ma’am I just told you that was the last we literally have the deposit for the room left on the card and that’s it !!! So is there anything you can do for us because we are going to have to sleep in our car tonight now and they proceed to tell us no there is absolutely nothing anyone from Hotwire can do. I used to use Hotwire for everything and always recommend everyone else to do s. But never again will I use a company who could give a shot about their customers .

2022-07-18Booked two car rentals an prepaid the full amount, when I arrived at the airport, no cars were available. I had to wait 2.5 hours. The only recourse through hotwire was try to cancel and go somewhere else, we cant refund because you chose the hot rate. I then contacted about the second rental (through the same agency), and was informed that it was too far past booking to cancel and they couldnt refund. The prices I found on actual sites are now cheaper than the hot rate advertised on hotwire, and I guess I learned a $500 and 2.5 hour lesson for using this terible service

2022-06-23My son booked a hot deal for a five-star hotel in Europe. I looked at the hotel on Google maps and saw it was in a shady area and looked NOTHING like any five-star hotel Ive ever seen. Other sites said it was a four-star hotel and offered cheaper rates. He tried to get his money back but they would only give him hot bucks that must be spent at HW. As an attorney, I know a contract is not legit without a meeting of the minds. HW said it was a 5-star hotel. It was not, except in HWs imagination. There was no meeting of the minds. One would expect this behavior from a fraudster, not a leading travel site. Whats going on there?

2022-07-27It’s too bad that there is not a zero stars option. The customer service of this company might be the worst I’ve ever experienced. I am told Their overseas calling center has no ability offer a customer a solution. Won’t be using Hotwire again.

2021-12-06Hotwire customer service is the worst, practically nonexistent. They ignored my request for help. They owed me a refund of $50.00 which they will not refund. They will only credit my hotwire account . I dont plan on ever usingHotwire again so I have lost my $50.00When I finally did get someone to help me it took 8 days from my first contact and 8 messages later someone finally addressed my issue but did not issue my credit back to my credit card. I would give zero stars. Hotwire is not acredited with the Better Business Bureau. Dont use this company, check priceline. Shame on you Hotwire.

2021-09-10I booked a rental car in Reno/Tahoe and because of the fires in and around the area our resort was closed and evacuated. I called Hotwire to reschedule the booking to a later date and they refused to reschedule it saying it was against their policy. They had already charged my credit card so they already had their money. I wasnt asking for a refund just to reschedule, they refused. This is a terrible company with terrible policies and I will NEVER use them for anything ever again and I will tell everyone I know to do the same. 2021-06-21Hi, Im writing this review about Hotwire, a company used to find hotel, auto and travel reservations.I rented a vehicle through them and was not able to pick up the vehicle. I contacted them and asked if I could get a refund for not receiving the vehicle but was denied. I understand they have company policies but did not want to give a partial refund or a rain check style of vehicle reservation. I do not approve of anyone using this service.

2021-05-13I have rented a car through Hotwire numerous times before and have been very happy with their service. This most recent time however did not go as well. I booked a Hot Rate rental car, as I had done many times in the past, when I went to pick up the car, the rental company, NU Rental, would not accept my car insurance. I their Supplier Terms and Conditions it says that I am required to have liability insurance through one of a list of companies, including State Farm. I have full coverage insurance through State Farm, and when I went to pick up this car, NU Rental would not accept my insurance. I have insurance that is in accordance to their Term and Conditions and they would not accept my insurance. They told me I had to purchase additional insurance. NU Car rental made an agreement with me and with Hotwire, and in that agreement they outlined the kind of insurance required. I have that kind of insurance and they would not accept it. I would recommend to not use Hotwire, and esspecially to not us NU car rental. Other customers at this location were having similar problems to this.

2021-09-03Hotwire sold me a reservation for a rental car at Dollar. There was clearly a mistake somewhere because upon arriving at the agency there were hundreds of people waiting to get their car. I could not wait for hours to get my car so my family Ubered instead. We were denied a refund by Hotwire. I hope to never use this company again.
