Positive: It was affordable and they didn¿t have any issues with my reservation, so that was nice. Negative: I think the bed could have been bigger, I think they gave us a queen when online said it was a king but it wasn¿t a big deal. The construction around the way made it difficult to get to the hotel sometimes. The gps would send me in other ways.
The hotel is old but it was quite clean. It was close to Mission Beach and Sea World. The price was right. They were short on microwaves and refrigerators. Location was good. Didnt spend a lot of time in the hotel. Manager was helpful.
Way over priced for what the room is. Carpet is disgusting found a large toe nail, and a Marijuana stem by the beds when I went to go plug my phone in. They say each room has a coffee pot and mini fridge when they dont. Also pool isnt heated no big deal because they have a hot tub..oh but the hot tub is broken. It looks so nice by the pictures and ratings but its not. So deceiving.
The pictures online are false. Hotel looks horrible but because we were there and already paid my wife and i stayed. We were only there for about 5 hrs. After a long day we finally got to lay down until we were ambushed by bed bugs . my wife and i both got bit. My eye is swollen shut because of this. There was 3 roaches chilling in the bathroom with those dirty Towels. What a way for her to celebrate her birthday smh. I’m furious!!!!! This place needs to be shut down.
Its not a 5 star hotel by any means but for the price I would give it that. Thought it was going to be a lot worse based on reviews but overall its a decent hotel. Carpet may be a little dirty, maybe a broken shelf in the fridge but its got everything you need. Best part, the water pressure in the shower is amongst the best Ive ever had.
Positive: The reception was friendly and courteous. Negative: The room was not clean. Immediately upon entering the room, we spotted a cockroach on top of the bed. We saw two more cockroaches on the walls after that. There was a used towel from a previous guest still hanging on the back of the bathroom door.
This hotel charges a ‘resort fee’ of over 11$ a day and I’m left asking ‘for what?’ Hotel staff does not clean your room, per their policy, while you stay there. The room smelled like closet musk had cockroaches. The hotel also has a sign advertising weekly and monthly rates which is completely untrue upon checking with front desk they don’t offer either. If you’re looking for a a budget room don’t let your search stop with this hotel.
The hotel is good to get if you are planning to literally just sleep and if it’s an emergency. The hotel is so dirty, apparently they don’t clean them everyday, and it was my worst experience ever. There was dog food in our room, stains of food on the carpet next to the bed, sand, sticky floors in the restroom, and the tub was clogged
You get what you pay for...They tried to update the rooms the best they can. If you can look past the stained rugs, dirty tub, sticky unknwon substance on the shelves, and a broken lock on the door, then definitely consider this motel. The area is a little sketchy but convienent location to get to PB or downtown and only 15 min from the airport. The front desk staff were not very helpful, but we did get a refund for the second night and left. The hot tub had caution tape around it. Overall, it works for a cheap place to stay for a night but if you want something a little better there is a holiday inn right behind this motel that looked 10x better.
Positive: The location and closeness to sea world is the best. Negative: Bed sheets had stains, bed was noisy, hair in shower, toilet really close to the door so you had to slant your body sideways to go inside the bathroom. Parking was really small and cramped. Front desk staff was sleeping when we pulled into parking lot.
Receptionist man was very helpful and friendly. Room was big, nice and clean. The only problem was coming in late it was dark and the light switch didnt work. Had to use lamp. Would come here again
I booked this through Orbitz, I Needed a “hotel” near where my family & friends were staying & this made sense. We walked in & automatically thought it was dirty, just don’t walk barefoot I thought. No wastebasket at all, I mentioned it to front desk, lady handed me a bag lol bathroom door is beat up & dirty, towels smelled, Bed was uncomfortable but we couldn’t find another place near by & getting a refund would be hard/probably impossible. So we stayed, woke up Sunday got ready to check out, & of course cherry on top there was a roach crawling on the mirror. I mentioned it to the white older gentleman that was at the front desk, I didn’t want other people hearing about my experience so I told him I would call because there was people coming in to check out. I reached out to them directly & through Orbitz but because I had “completed” my stay they couldn’t offer a refund or anything at all. That’s ok I just know I would never stay there ever!!! Btw they need to change to roach motel, this is no where near a “hotel” run down & dirty
Old dump no parking loud and noisy the room was dilapidated the door didn’t seal people piled up all of their food trash in the tiny trash cans out front and a skunk would come through at night and raid them and the smell of the skunk would get pulled into the air conditioners they were tweakers skulking about all night you didn’t feel safe leaving your hotel room and walking anywhere this made my trip pretty miserable i’ve stated the hotels in the area and never had this kind of a problem at them. And then after all this mess they have the audacity to add a resort fee I thought things had to work in order to be resort nothing works so you’re not much of a resortAvoid this budget bargain like a plague
Our bedroom was extremely dirty. We found cockroach and bed bugs not to mention how noisy the rooms were considering proximity with the highway. We changed bedroom in the middle of the night and the other room was even more dirty. Awful experience.
Check-in was easy enough. Open the door to our room and it smelt of rancid water At first I thought it was coming from the AC unit later I found out there was a crack between the bathtub and the flooring and underneath the bathtub itself it’s filled with water (you can hear water sloshing around underneath the tub as you step) taking a shower felt like standing on top of a water bed. Nothing makes you feel cleaner after getting out of the shower like knowing you just stood on top of everybody else’s bathwater who knows how long that’s been there. Did notice the door has a large gap underneath it which it lets in bug from the outside i’ve seen one dead beetle and one more walking on the carpet I had to kill and our roommate Frank the spider that likes to greet us at the door He left us alone during our visit although he did keep mean mugging me every time I would open the door. Between the moldy water I’ve been inhaling and the bugs I’ve been killing I don’t recommend it Too many more options right next-door.. Other reviews I’ve read on this place soon after getting here sum it up. I’m expecting somebody in the company to leave a message under this like we take this very seriously and we’re gonna do something about it and something about falling short of expectations. Your cleaning staff don’t look up at the ceilings when they clean the rancid moldy water odor doesn’t bother them so I assume many of these units probably smell that way possibly for the same reason and maintenance Is taking way too many shortcuts or just slacking

But this place has been let go it’s ran down from the last time I stayed there.The carpet is gross really stained ! The mattress was awful not comfortable at all. And the shower curtain had a really bad odor. The lamps were stained and broken. The walls we’re stained all over the room ! And to top it off there was roaches .Paid way too much god this room for the poor quality of this place . I’d you can avoid this hotel please do so! !I regret my weekend here.
We booked with booking.com , everything was fine and ready to go. We arrived and the front desk said we did not have a reservation with them, so we called booking.com and they confirmed that everything was good. We go back inside to let him know that they resend the confirmation email , but he was being very disrespectful and rude saying he didn’t have anything , without even checking! After bickering for 30 to 40 mins he decided to check and it was there. We finally got in and the rooms were meh , bed was messy and they also had a huge mural of a womens face right next to the bed. Personal wouldn’t book with them again.
Positive: It has so much potential and could be so much more. The art retro style is great! Negative: Iam trying to wrap my head around how this hotel hasnt been shut down yet.Trying to be mindful here but..It is infested W/ roaches. Floor, fridge, tub,toilet....bad. Hardly slept, cleaned myself. I hope someone considers all this.roaches are health hazrd
Positive: The staff was very nice, the grounds well kept and the room was nice. Negative: The tub was not draining well while I was showering but that can be easily fixed.
Positive: Loved that this hotel had 3 queen size beds Negative: The room was not ready when we arrived and we had to come back and then when we returned an hour and a half later is was still not ready for another 45 minutes. There was also toilet paper stuck to the wall near the trash can.
The Hotel Iris has been holding over $400 for a stay that never happened and they are refusing to release the funds back back to Booking.com so we can get reimbursed. ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS RESPOND TO AN EMAIL BACK TO BOOKING.COM! I have been waiting for a month for someone to get back to me and help me with this and now they wont even allow me to speak to the manager who is the ONE PERSON THAT CAN APPARENTLY HELP ME. CROOKS!!!!EDIT: The hotels response claims that when we book through a third party then we have to go through them for reimbursement. Welllllll..... WE HAVE! Booking.com requires a SIMPLE RESPONSE TO AN EMAIL FROM THE HOTEL in order to release the funds back into our account. Booking.com has actually tried to contact the hotel on a few occasions while I was holding on the other line and the hotel said that they WOULD RESPOND to the email within 24 hours and that was a month ago!!! Stop with the excuses and the the confirmation back to Booking.com before I file a lawsuit.
The AC stopped working the phones in room don’t work to call front desk. The carpet floor was wet. Called in the morning to ask for towels and they said we had to come up to get. I go to get towels and the same girl who told me there was towels tells me she doesn’t have any. Asked to speak to the manager who she said was on site and when she called him he wouldn’t come to office. Horrible stay!!! Paid over 200$ for this room.
This place was so disgusting we couldnt even stay here. Our first room the bed looked like it was peed in and the pillows were brown, the second room had hairs in the bed and smelled disgusting. We cancelled our reservation and went to a different hotel. No elevator and no help to get bags up to second floor.
This place is disgusting! Took us nearly 2 hours to check in properly. Not to the mention the front desk clerk was impossible to work with. If I could leave a negative review I would. Hotel Iris should be your last option if you’re ever thinking of staying in San Diego.
Positive: The location was convenient for the activities we had planned. Negative: Sheets were dirty, no refrigerator, asked the staff for an iron but they wouldnt provide one, no hangers. Would not recommend this place and will not be staying there again.

Filthy, did not have the amenities stated on website. Towels and sheets had stains. Bathroom walls dirty. As I was packing up to leave I dropped something behind the night stand, where I found lots of dirt, dust, a straw and a baby bottle cap, none of which were mine.
Positive: I like the spa in room Negative: The $100 deposit with no working microwave. No cups , no napkins, no coffee , no breakfast, definitely not worth the price

Very poor the bed sheets had stains on them also the towels as if they don’t wash anything disgusting not even worth your money had neighbors asking if we had any cockroaches in our room (they had cockroaches in there room) , beds only come with 2 pillows not comfortable at all would not recommend

2022-02-10After reading the reviews I was skeptical about staying here. When me and my husband checked in, it was a easy and fast process.We got into the room, the room was decent. The walls in the restroom had some stains on them, the tub had a hair on it, there was stuff on the shower curtain. The bed was not the most comfortable but we made it work. There are 3 pieces of bedding; 1 bottom sheet, one thicker blanket and a top sheet. I would recommend bringing a thicker blanket if you plan using the AC. The TV was a bit crooked, the frame of the mirror was broken. The freezer did not freeze our beverages.The area was not too bad, we did not have any wanderers or anyone bothering us. Our car was safe.It was not as bad as I anticipated, It was a decent stay.

2022-03-17The room itself was very nice and presentable. My room was a king with sofa non-smoking. It came with a microwave and fridge, a nice table, and a night stand. Very nice amenities. The negatives were: the lighting- it was very dark. The main light switch didn’t work, the only light in the room was a lamp that was not bright at all. The sink/fridge area didn’t have a light except for a small light on the mirror, again not bright. Once night hit it was way too dark for my liking. Towels- there were NONE, not even a hand towel to dry your hands after washing them. I’ve never stayed anywhere in my whole life that towels weren’t provided. Luckily I happened to have a few towels with me that I brought up to my room. But this was weird. Lastly, and this was just a personal thing so not everyone would be bothered by it, the tub- there was no stopper. I love a hot bath at the end of the night, but more importantly I had toddlers with me and wanted to give them a bath. They’re not old enough for showers yet, so not being able to give them a bath (and not being able to take one myself) was a bummer.

2022-05-03My stay at Hotel Iris was very peaceful and quiet. Nice view of the pool and and easy access to the expressway for breakfast/restaurants, parks, beaches and beverages. Staff was very kind and courteous. I would like to thank and acknowledge Nikki for her assistance and patience during my check-in. I enjoyed my stay. 2022-01-04Honestly not recommend.It was the worst hotel that we’ve ever been in.First of all there’s no breakfast ( as you mentioned) , no elevator, no microwave, no coffee maker, no fridge( especially we have a little baby whose her food is being expired), no closets. There were three poor drawers which are not enough for our stuff.There is no room services ( I have pictures about the view in front of my room where there is a large bin full with trash) The sheets and the blankets are literally garbage. They werer old , ripped and stained. I think you have to change the bed sheets and the blankets with new one or at least go to thrift stores to get like new ones and please use a good quality detergent to clean the towels because they are all stained.( I have pictures of them)Be honest with your costumers please and don’t mention anything about your services which are not available.

2022-02-26Great customer service and ownership. Outstanding. They even provided a Bible for me and special services you couldnt imagine. What a great group of people.. I call them, The property that cares. Please try them. They treat the guest like family. Very unique to my experiences.

2022-06-28Positive: Location location location and the price per night. Was looking for an affordable place to sleep only. Negative: The hotel is tight on parking (but free). The room had very dirty carpeting. They only provided limited towels for 2 people. No maid service for the 3 days we stayed, that seemed odd. Pool was very dirty and the hot tub was shut down out of order.

2022-05-27Terrible place to stay! We booked for 2 nights and left after 1 night. There were cockroaches in our room! Went to front desk and they wanted to move us to another room. We went to check out the room and it was dirty. Stains on bed linens and towels were dirty. Floor was also dirty. Sure ruined mothers day.

2022-01-21Booked a jacuzzi hot tub suite. The bed was very hard and had stained sheets. The TV didnt work and the bathroom didnt seem clean. They charged our card and we left ten minutes later and asked for a refund. They said 5 business days to get the refund. Its now day 6 left a message for the supervisor 4 times now and no call back. Our anniversary was ruined because of this.

2022-06-28Room: Extremely small.Lighting: Only 1 Light in the entire bedroom area. Too dark!Furniture: 1 long narrow table with a heavy metal bench to sit on. Weird.Parking: The parking behind the hotel was difficult to determine which spaces belong to IRIS & HOLIDAY INN Express. No signs present.Customer Service: Poor!There was a male & female hotel employee at the front desk and 2 other guests in front of me waiting to check-in when I arrived. During my entire lengthy wait to check-in, the male employee was the only one servicing those waiting to check-in. The female employee was just standing behind the counter talking to the male employee with no regard to those of us waiting. They both made eye contact with me in line but made no effort to move the line or acknowledge to us otherwise. The female employee at one point began to brush her hair while chatting with the male front desk employee. Unacceptable!

The carpet was old and disgusting. for some reason, non smoking room smelled like someone just smoked before you entered the room. Staff were rude. it is exactly what a hotel should not be. terrible ...
