Wanted to try something new and we weren’t disappointed. You can smell it’s going to be good upon walking in the door! Staff was friendly and soup was delivered quickly after we ordered. The appetizer was crispy and hot and the entree even better. Nice table setting and comfortable atmosphere. Parking off street in back.
We had the lamb curry and lamb with coconut milk. Both were amazing. We also ordered a side of the garlic cilantro naan and it was delicious. We had a very pleasant experience. Not too crowded. Friendly staff and fast service. For our first time here we are very satisfied. We will be coming back to try other menu items.
This place is awesome! Its authentic Indian Nepalese & Tibetan cuisine. Its pretty new, they offer tons of delicious options!! From vegan, vegetarian, chicken, lamb, and more. They also serve a yummy soup prior to your entree, such a small soup full of incredible flavor! So good. I ordered the mixed veggie vegan curry which comes with either naan or basmati rice! Im blown away. The curry is packed with so much flavor and the rice is perfect. Im so glad this place is here, Chula Vista needed some delicious food, and my favorite were the variety of vegan and vegetarian options! Also, great customer service. Love it!
It really surprised me when I took a bite of garlic naan. It is perfect cooked and well seasoned with garlic.I was not able to consume coconut milk; thus I didnt eat any curry dishes. The service is awesome! The waitress was polite and friendly. We tipped her more than 21%.
The photo is of Chicken Chili level hotness medium. The food is very delicious and filling, the cuisine unavailable anywhere else in the South Bay. I ordered Chicken Korma and it was prepared mild as I requested. The 4 instead of 5 stars is because this restaurant is new and the staff could use a little more professional polish. Theres a fine line between being engaging and talking too much and the manager was on the wrong side of that line. The server brought us to go boxes and didnt offer to pack us up, nor did he/she look at us or thank us for our business when the bill was presented. The ambiance is a little off as well. However we enjoyed it enough to have dined there several times already.
This was some of the best food weve ever had anywhere. It is amazing and with great service constitutes an excellent dining experience. I had the lamb Korma and the creamy coconuty flavour was out of this world good. My wife had lamb kadai and it was spicy, rich, complex. The lamb in both was tender and tasty. We finished the meal off with mango lassi and chai tea. What an Excellent way to conclude a flavour sensation of a meal.
This is my favorite Indian food spot: flavors and food are amazing! They are also friendly and always always get my order right. Everywhere I get take out from I always have to check my order (especially because I am vegetarian), and this is the only place that has never gotten my order wrong (and Ive eaten here a lot!). So I appreciate their attention to the food and the orders, and how quickly they prepare everything. Thank you!
I went there because it said Dine-In, I was entertaining guests from out of town. When I got there, the dining area was closed off. I asked the guy why it said dine in when it clearly wasn’t, he said he didn’t know. He says if I wanted dine in I could go to another place down the street (SMH). Food was good, but too much sauce for the few pieces of meat in the container.
The Buttered chicken was good, just a bit too sweet for me. I prefer a little more kick in the spice area. I will try something else next time. Obviously Im going back. Flavorful meal and the garlic naan is great! The rice was perfect. True to their word on pick up time. I highly recommend this place to anyone
Went to the new location at the mall and the food was absolutely wonderful! My husband ordered something a little to spicy and they made him a new dish that he absolutely loved. I will definitely be coming back and telling my friends and family! Best Indian food in Chula Vista!
Love this place always comes through when your in the mood for some exotic food other than what you get on 3rd ave which is dont get me wrong great food on 3rd, but Old C.V. needs some more variety other than the traditional taco shop. Which this place delivers. Check it out they have good beers too.
Wanted good food for my birthday and decided this place might work. I ordered the mixed tandoori with chicken, shrimp, lamb, and chicken breast. It was quite good until I got to the bone of the chicken leg and yummy blood started oozing. I thought, “ great! That’s all I need is salmonella food poisoning on my birthday hmmmm!!! apparently this chicken never got to the done temp of 165 degrees and it was never checked or else I wouldn’t be staring at blood oozing from my chicken leg. I thought the food was okay. Undone chicken is the reason I cook at home. At least if I do get sick, I know it was me that did it!
Im so happy to have a great Indian restaurant in Chula Vista. The food here is so flavorful, one of the best Ive tried in San Diego. It is the perfect place for take-out because it usually only takes 20 minutes for the food to be ready and theyre open pretty much all year.
I got the Malai Kofta to go and it was fantastic. The basmati rice was perfect- soft but not sticky and not dry. The kofta were flavorful and a good texture, and the sauce was creamy, flavorful, and spicy enough but not too much (I got medium.) they had a lot of vegetarian and vegan options as well as meat and seafood. It was easily 2 servings (4 cups total) for $15. Finally, I was walking, so carried it home about 40 minutes and it was still warm when I got home. I will definitely be back!
I have been wanting to try this food for a long time. Finally through uber eats I tried it, everything came nice and hot. I got the lamb vindaloo and my boyfriend got the mango chicken with rice and cilantro naan bread. Let me say I am so happy I tried it. Lamb was so flavorful and the side were delicious as well. My bf liked his dish as well. He like mine more of course because it had a little spice to it. Will definitely be back again.
I really enjoy the food here. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered this gem about a year ago. I have enjoyed everything ive eaten here so far, from the samosas to the butter chicken, to the lentil soup. I also enjoy the 1000 monk beer. The menu is expansive and, in my opinion, has something for everyone.
Really good food!! Hot and fresh from the kitchen!! The butter chicken was the best!! Our waiter and waitress were the best even when we showed up 30 to 25 minutes till closing time! If you come here you wont leave unsatisfied and hungry! Best Himalayan restaurant I have ever been to!!
I have wished for a place to eat with authentic Indian food. Im extremely pickie, so I ordered the Curry Lamb. It will tell me if they are good or not. Well it was amazing, possible the best Ive had. This will be my favorite place to eat. Im so tired of Mexican food, Burgers and Pizza. Best Food in the South Bay area!
Went here recently with my family. I have had Indian food before, my family never has. The food here is very flavorful and is easy on the pallet if you want to try something different. The service was great too despite being a new location the food was served quick and hot.
Had lunch here today and it was delicious. I had Veggie Korma and Chicken Vindaloo and the flavors were spot on. My husband had the Chicken Chili and the Chicken Curry and loved them both. He isnt a fan of Indian food but said hell be back. Portions are good. Cant wait to see how good the lamb dishes are. Glad we finally have a good Indian restaurant in the South Bay!
Good food they had for mixed tandoori. Also had the chicken vindaloo at mild and chicken curry at a higher level of spiciness but I recommend them for those who can handle spicy taste. Even at mild, vindaloo will not relent. And a medoum spicy curry will be just as tough on those not use to spiciness.
The food came out of the kitchen fast and I couldnt wait to get home to eat it cause it smelled so good. Let me just say that the first bite was so so darn good. I had to save some for later I just did not wanted to finish the damn plate. Lovet and also will go back... cant wait and also costumer service was great. BTW try the Himalayan Balti.
This place is awesome. The food is very delicious. I had the best chicken biryani I ever tasted, the blend of spices is well and the chicken tastes really well. And the mixed vegetable curry is delicious too and very healthy. The people who served the food are very nice. I didnt dine in- I ordered take out-, so I cant comment on the dining hall, but the place is relaxing and the tables are clean and well arranged. Prices and portions are reasonable. The chicken biryani is 14.99 and can feed two hungry people.
I ordered $50 worth of to go food from here and they didnt even pack it nicely. The goat curry was leaking all over their paper bag and leaked all over my car. By the time I got to my door everything dropped. Thankfully, my food didnt get contaminated. The food itself was ok. The Tandoori Lamb isnt worth $20. Its like eating rubber. The goat curry was good. The mango lassi is the only thing that was great. 2 stars for the careless food packing and so-so food. Ruined my lunch.
While visiting San Diego, I was looking for a good Indian restaurant and I found this 😃. We ordered mixed tandoor which comes which chicken, lamb and shrimp combo. It was amazing in taste as well as quantity. We also had chicken dumplings which were juicy. Overall, great place to eat Asian food in Chula Vista 👍.
Great Indian and Himalayan food. I havent visited many Indian restaurants but I thoroughly enjoyed eating here and have been back twice. I like the many vegetarian dish options such as the vegetarian curry and have enjoyed the lamb dishes I have tried. I also like that you can choose the level of spiciness that you would like.
Such delicious food! Everything we ordered tasted beyond amazing, highly recommended the samosas. The service here is also fantastic. If you are looking for a spot that has vegan/vegetarian options, great customer service, and offers great Nepali food (similar to indian food), this is the spot!
I havent been to dinner there yet. But ate lunch there three times in two weeks. They have a lunch special with eight different items and you choose two. Comes with rice . Soup. And bread. So far everything is delicious. So much flavor. Finally an Indian food place in Chula Vista
For long time I have the wish to come here and try it the delicious Indian food. I like this place, I order a Shrimp Masala, the place is clean, quiet, organized, the food is delicious, I like the decorations, the personal can be more friendly, but is not bad at all, I have no complaint about it. Is a good place to visit again. I will.
I grew up with Indian dishes so Im really picky with taste and texture of the different meals; that it has been really hard for me to find something close to home while living abroad. Ive dined in so many Indian restaurants in the city, yet nothing has come close to beautiful memories of my moms cooking then this Himalayan Indian restaurant. I love the food and the atmosphere so much that I am inviting friends for meals at the restaurant all the time. One of my top priority place to dine.AdiFood Addict
This place is absolutely delicious! It was a bit pricey, but I think I ordered everything off the menu, so maybe thats why?!?! LolThe food explodes with flavor and is ridiculously filling! We had some Veggie Samosas, momos, three different kind of currys and it was Heaven! Their Naan is perfection. I will be coming back for sure!Staff is awesome and very accommodating.
Great curry, yummy pakora, and fresh cheesy naan. Samosas were good, but I wish they had more peas. We order them with the mint chutney and oh boy is it delicious. The mango lassi is also delicious and very filling. The servers are friendly but can get very busy helping the kitchen and taking phone orders. This place is more on the casual side and there is a bit of a wait to get service once seated but so worth it.
This restraunt is clean and the food is really good. I ate my first curry here and I am pleased. Could use a bit more people skills (not rude, just no energy and so serious.) and a spicy curry option. I was really hoping to try spicy curry. The chicken chili is delicious. Naan is noce and fluffy.
Excellent service. Food quality was perfect-- our tandoori chicken came to our table streaming with steam/smoke, deliciously succulent and spiced. The vegetarian options are decent: we had the saag paneer (pairs well with tandoori chicken and naan) and mung daal--the daal got mom and dads approval-- reminded them of home. The naan is a perfected art at this location. Not a dry crumbly mess like some places-- it was soft and fluffy. The lamb chhoila, (a Nepali recipe), appetizer was fresh, flavorful, and piquant-- a good contrast to the spicy heat.
The curry is delicious and the spice is just right. The Bread is fluffy, thick and fresh. Butter chicken is buttery and delicious, if you like spicy order it hot cause the medium was like mild. Less spicy than the curry or misala. Delicious authentic Indian food. Will recommend!!!
First time getting Indian! The service was grea and the food was delicious! I got the buttered chicken and its hint of peanuts was Great. My friend got the Tiki masala, which was similar in texture but the spices were different but good nonetheless! Would differently come here again
Food is just as perfect as the La Mesa location! The dining room does get warm in the afternoon. The tables next to the windows were pretty warm. Black out curtains might help or tinting windows from the warmer days and sun setting? Also, better ventilation from smokey dishes being cooked can help. Otherwise the food is always good and satisfying for those Himalayan and Indian cuisines!
Food is not with the money they charge. Mushroom Tikka masala was $15. Though it tasted good and quantity was good enough for 2 adults, it should have been a lot lesser. You get white cloth dining experience for this money in East Bay near San FranciscoTandoori rotis werent that great either
Usually refrain from giving a lower rating. In this case, we were allergic to a specific ingredient and requested that to not be included in the dishes we ordered. But no, not only was the ingredient included, when informed of the same, the manager didnt seem to be bothered. To top this all, we were asked to pay which I definitely dont think was rude!!!
Himalayan food in the south bay! What a welcome treat. Service is friendly and attentive, and the food is quite delicious. The lunch special is amazing; pick two entrees, and have them served up with fresh naan and dhal. The servings are plentiful, so be prepared for a food coma on the way back to work. The momo is also wonderful, and freshly made (takes a bit more time than your main course).
Two words: Butter Chicken!Extremely delicious with naan or rice - my goodness I crave this everyday since coming here for the first time weeks ago! My friends have tried a Himalayan place near sports arena and they say that the Himalayan House is just as delicious! Their tandoori chicken is also a great choice :) Happy Eating!
Tonight my boyfriend and I wanted to try something new but we both didnt know what we wanted so I was looking through yelp for ideas, then I come across Himalayan House Restaurant and started looking through the pictures of what I would want I showed my boyfriend if that was something he wanted and sure enough we started our way there. Mind you this is my first time trying Himalayan food! The flavors that I was experiencing were heavenly!
Food looked good but Ill never know how much. I went in tonight expecting to try this local favorite but was told Ill be right with you by the hostess three (3) times, while she ran around taking care of diners. She said it each time she passed me, but fifteen (15) minutes later, I was still standing there, by myself. And it was awkward. And folks at a table kept watching me, then watching the hostess ignore me standing there. I found it so embarrassing, I left. Maybe it was good. I didnt get to find out...
I did take to go for three times on three different days. Food is ok. But the biggest disappointment for me was the the Gulab Jamun. It’s one of my favorite desserts and I always got for it if that’s an option. But for first time in my life I wasted gulab jamun. The taste was so weird that there was no trace of milk/khowa in it. We had 2 orders of it neither me nor my wife were able to eat more that one piece. (There were three pieces in each order)
Portions are small. Lamb masala was good. Naan was thick. They need to have a buffet hour or at least specials. Prices are steep. My food was just bread, meat, and sauce. How about a special with desert? Also desert menu needs to be expanded. I love rasmalai and carrot halwa.
Absolutely amazing food... my wife and I have been waiting for an Indian restaurant to open up here in south county and I am glad they’ve come, we’ve driven to La Mesa to have dinner and now they’ve invested by introducing their cuisine to Chula Vista. Please give this place a try... you may be intimidated but the food is amazing and fresh! Try cheese Naan with Tikka Masala.

2022-04-24Mango chicken with garlic cilantro Naan was amazing. Probably the best Ive had at a restaurant. A little sweet to go with the mild flavoring (just a tinge of spice) compliments each other very well. The Paneer Pakora with Mint was a good sampler. Friendly staff, and ample seating easily a local favorite!

2022-01-13I ordered the Saag Lamb with paneer added on a level three spice. It was honestly some of the best Indian food Ive ever had. The paneer had a great texture and the lamb was so moist and well seasoned and the saag was also very well seasoned. The mimosas were big and the insides were smooth and creamy and again very well seasoned. 10/10 would recommend

2022-06-30Fantastic food and friendly fast service. We were here on vacation and decided to check it out. We ended up going back twice! The Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Curry were amazing. I only wish they had a location near where I live! The naan bread is spectacular.

2022-05-09Just fantastic flavors from appetizer to main dish & garlic naan. Goat Curry, delicious chicken curry. So tasty but watch out for the spicey scale, keep to a low number & ask for the 911 hot sauce on the side! Be sure to take some dessert naan home & order a mango lassi drink. Mmm

2022-07-03I tried many of the chicken dishes. The saag was creamy & delicious. The chili chicken had a nice garlic, and tomato flavor. The curry was spicy, and very flavorful. The korma was creamy, and nutty. I ordered my heat level hot, and they gave it just the right heat to make you sweat. Highly recommended food!

2022-05-07Food is always great but wont give 5 stars because the food takes a long time to make so I tried calling ahead and they wouldnt pick up. Once I got to the restaurant the guys attending me all ignored me while I waited at the register until I got attended I was told the food would take 20 minutes which is fine but it ended up taking 30. When I got to the restaurant I heard someone say can someone take care of answering calls which Im assuming they havent been doing since I tried calling multiple times.

2022-05-01Delicious food and off the hook service. Totally recommend it. I had the chicken biryani and salad and dumplings, so good! The dressings too! Big portions and the price is right. You wont regret it.
