Worst experience!! We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Online it shows you get a dessert, we got nothing!!!! You would think for a Sunday brunch they would be fully staffed, NO!!! Only 2 severs!!! Never got refills, never checked on us, NOTHING!!! We had to ask for our last course meal and the bill so we could leave!!! Waist of $210 for nothing!!! Every person in that restaurant was upset!! The group of ladies behind us were also very upset for the wait and got cold food. Another family so upset she went to the front desk to ask for service! I heard they are under new management, DONT GO!!! Bad service for the price of this restaurant!!
The food was horrible and over priced, we went for brunch the 3 course meal. Can you say everything was flavorless or too much salt. The bacon was way too salty for some reason. The prime rib was round steak, multiple people almost choked when swallowing. I miss the buffet when it was castaways
Horrible service!!! From the greeter to the server. No buffet, no omelets for brunch!!!! $57.00, pick three items, give me a break. Way way way over priced!!!! And forget about getting a refill on anything, one memosa then had to hunt the waiter down for a refill. I will not be back, and hopefully you dont book your event there, they cant even take care of one table. I dont normally complain, but management needs to make changes, like sell your business and do something else!!!!!
Went with some friends. This place was good. I acutally had my doubts, but I was wrong. The food is good. The views, the atmosphere was great. Good selection of cocktails and wine. The servers are great, prompt service. They are very friendly and nice. Our server was Hope, she was very nice and sweet, always serviceable. And all the staff in reality was great. The food was delicious and the appetizers. Its a bit pricey in my opinion, but its worth it. Give it a try, its a little gem in the I.E.
Food was really great, service really needed some help. I can tell that this was event was thrown together, unfortunately, a place that has been known in the inland empire for their above the standards has now been dropped. If you dont expect the best of the area youll fine. Im just to above average service here. 8 wish they had a regular staff Im sure things would be better but you can tell that they now hire for events only. Im not sure if the other location went through the same changes that san Bernardino went through but know what your getting into, I hope this helps. To add I think the chefs that were working the stations for the Buffet were great, good attention to their customers and timely as possible. This is probably the best food around here unless your willing to travel to another area where they do this regularly. I know that Castaway can come back to where they use to be but it would take some work. Just to mention I would come back here again. Oh and yes a little bitter because we didnt have a waiter or waitress the entire time we were seated, was service by who ever random person I could wave down and ask for a refill or to take our plates, had to say that had an effect in this write up.

Experience this Exotic Place of Dining with your Love Ones! Feel the βNever before Experienceβ to be a Reality! For sure, I will be back again! Thank you so very much! π₯°π
I found myself at the Hilltop Collection for a corporate event where the company had rented out the entire facility. This was the perfect venue for this type of event, as the layout was extremely conducive for networking. There are comfortable loungy sections, as well as ample areas with bar seating.
We went for brunch and it was really good! Wait staff were very attentive and kept the champagne flowing. I got the cauliflower wings which were delicious! And the french toast was very good as well. The chocolate cake is a little dry imo... but the cheesecake was awesome. Really nice views... would return someday
I have been here couple of times and they never disappoint. The last time however was an amazing experience, my fiance proposed to me with an outside view and had my family and friends there to witness it. Everything was lit up with candles and their outside lights and fire pits made it look even better. I will never forget this perfect moment and the amazing staff! Their food was even amazing!
Amazing hidden gem overseeing San Bernardino! A perfect location for date night that brings in a setting that your partner can enjoy. Brought my fiancee for dinner and ordered the hamburger and fettuccine Alfredo, the flavors on both our dinner were made so perfectly! The chicken was moist and full of flavor and the burger patty was seasoned so well! Thank you Isis the manager, Luis our server and Antonio the chef for making this date night perfect for my fiancee and I. Will happily return to order a 12 oz prime steak. To lastly add, we arrived at 6:30 pm and were the only ones in the restaurant that made the evening very romantic.
Im going to speak as a vendor DJ I was at this place the food look really bad the management was rude and some waiters at the banquet hall where rude they promise to save my vendor plate for later at the end they said they dont have it that they dont give food to go we already paid for that dish and they never give it to me I think its rude I had my dishes a vendor or DJ say for later and most banquet halls the salad that they gave they look pretty basic I will not recommend this place
I went for dinner with my friend to celebrate my birthday. The food was well presented and the attention we had from our server was just right. He came several times to check on our drinks I didnβt feel rushed and he was very pleasant.Iβm so use to going out to eat and the servers handing me over my bill even before I finish my meal. I expected the same. But they didnβt we were able to enjoy our meals and had time to continue talking after we finished. This had to be the best part of my evening. We enjoyed the scenery in the evening.I will be going back soon for the mimosas on Sundayβs.
I cannot thank you enough for helping us pull off the best surprise party for our family! The management and staff are absolutely amazing, the food was perfect, and you really took care of everything for us. We had less than a month to plan a party for about 60 people and you made it SO easy! I cant wait to plan our next event here!
The ambiance of the restaurant was very homey yet professional. The view was breathtaking! My family and I sat in the patio. We had the most amazing Sunday morning eating the delicious food Hilltop has to offer. Our server, Beatriz, was very attentive and kind. She would check up on us quite often and provided us with excellent service.
Went there for their Easter brunch. Lots of parking, great views, and clean facility. Friendly staff practiced social distancing. Our server Alejandro (Alex) was very good. Tentative and kept our champagne glasses full. Staff even moved our tables closer to the shade, as it was a bit warm outside (we were a large group). Kids each got a stuffed animal from the Easter Bunny as well! Had a great time. Will be back.
So So happy we came. The service is by far exceptional. Management cares about their customers but I was impressed with how they treat their employees. The food was so good. We will be back and will definitely recommend this impressive brunch to family and friends. Thank you Hilltop for such a great Sunday brunch.
The views ...awesome! Food is another story. I had the new your steak it was dry and very ,very tough only took a few bites waiter says I asked you if everything was ok and asked what did I want him to do. I looked puzzled and just asked for the check. Dont come and spend your money its not worth the money or view.
Yikes.. we went back a second (against my better 1/2s wishes) . But it was pretty terrible again. Stale bread over slated and cooked food. Deserts were definitely left overs from a previous party.. sucks. We live close be now and really hoped this place would be our go-to.. the view and setting is amazing though. Outdoor firepits etc.. they should get I together, theres almost no higher end restaurants between here and the pass.. Id rather got Tonys dinner !!! :)
Food was not great at all for the price i could of had beter food from a street vender. Steak was over cooked twice and they put the steak iin a1 sau sauce to make tast ok . The chese cake was ok but the chacoletcake was dry amd the worst ever. Best part of the meal was the ceaser salad. I would not recomend this to anyone
Place with a beautiful view, really nice hosts and delicious food. Wanna say thank you to Carolina for giving us a chance to enjoy there food even when the restaurant was closed. Loved there hospitality. I wish I can give them more stars. Thank you so much and love you guysβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Horrible experience. I went there for my second wedding anniversary. The calamari wasnt even edible, like rubber. My wife salmon was dry and overcooked, my filet mignon had like a canned brown gravy. The mashed potatoes for instant.when dessert came out I got creme brulee. It was like liquid underneath the crust. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
10/8/21 I DID NOT WRITE THIS REVIEW. PERHAPS GOOGLE OR SOMEONE ELSE THAT IS RIPPING OFF BUSINESSES OFF DID. I ALREADY CALLED THE MANAGER TO INFORM OWNERSHP THAT I DID NOT POST THIS REVIEW.The worst experience ever β¦ Iβm not the type of person to do reviews or post comments social media etc.. , but this time is necessary.. I went for my birthday and first of all .. I made a call 2 weeks in advance nd they give me a table 20 min later .. I know they donβt do reservations... but the fact there was a table available before the 20 minβ¦the hostess gave priority to another party who came after us!.. Second of all, we ask for wine to start celebrating my bday and they gave us the wine almost AN HOUR later!! β¦ and the food more than an hour !! UNBELIEVABLE!! Third of all, the lady gave my boyfriend the wrong food β¦ he wanted to eat what he ordered but the lady made a mistake .. nd plus we wait more than an hour for the food and the lady gave my boyfriend the wrong food .. UNACCEPTABLE!!
Good view, modest foodI was visiting the area and wanted to take my teenage daughter to a nice restaurant. Someone told me about Castaway. We were impressed that it sits on top of a hill just by itself. When we got there, we saw a gorgeous sunset from the parking lot.You can tell this restaurant has had its golden years. Its a large building with seemingly a few different rooms, one of which was closed for a private reception. But I have to say, the decor is pretty dated and the food was uninteresting. It wasnt inexpensive, which was disappointing. I had hoped for a more updated menu and better preparation. The view is nice but I wouldnt necessarily go back.
As I commenced my wedding plans back in March 2021 absolutely no venue responded back to my email requests due to covid regulations. Vegas was my next move. However, The hilltop collection responded back to me promptly promising me a beautiful summer outdoor wedding opportunity over looking the hilltop view.As covid regulations eased up a bit, the hill top collection opened up their french doors with beautiful chandeliers to my fiance and I after June 15. So the planning began, Karolin Derhartonian stuck with us through my bridezilla and Cinderella phases by provided us with an event coordinator (Justina Aurora Planning Events) and with the absolute best from start to finish. The bridal suite was roomy, peaceful and perfect for the pre -wedding nerves. Shes so passionate with satisfying her customers. I caught her contemplating our wedding from a far. I loved that!!!Thank You Hilltop owners for allowing my husband and I in getting married near home and celebrating to a beautiful hilltop view at night with delicious mouth watering food. A place to which my husband I can come back for special occasions and think back on the evening of 8.21.21 when we both said I do.Boskovich Wedding π€ 8.21.21
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Its definitely pricier than your average, but it is by far, worth every penny. The food here has always been on point. The steaks and vegetables are always cooked to perfection and the servers are so attentive and entertaining. Its not a place I can afford to go all the time, but its definitely one for a nice romantic dinner with the wife, or a special occasion. I highly recommend this place! Youll be coming back for more.
I performed at this banquet hall and want to share my experience with everyone. The staff has excellent customer service skills. The food is amazing with a great menu choices. Itβs a perfect place for private parties. Location is unbelievable. The name explains it all. I highly recommend The Hilltop Collection Banquet Center for your events.
Very good banquet style restaurant. The table service was spot on. We were made up of a party of about 30, so the waiters did a good job of serving everyone efficiently. They were very professional and courteous as well. The food was good. I had the chicken dinner which came with chicken breast, mixed vegetables with asparagus, mashed potatoes, and artichoke. It was cooked just right. Especially the chicken breast which was very tender. Then for dessert we had cheese cake which, for most of us in the party, was the best part of the meal. The room that we were in had a 180 degree view of the San Bernardino valley which looked amazing in the evening. I will definitely return again. I would very well recommend this restaurant, especially for events such as parties, receptions, banquets, or just general formal dinners.
It was just OK. I went here for the Sunday brunch with my family. The prices were kinda high ($$$) per person for what you got. Quality of food was so so. They have a full bar & drinks were pretty good. The bar prices were reasonable. Apple cider & champagne are included with the brunch. Its a big restaurant & it was crowded. There appeared to be a lot of return customers, they knew their servers names. Servers were very polite & courteous. Im not sure Ill return. Based on other Sunday brunches Ive gone to, I expected a lot more out of this one.
Its elegant dining at its best. You can take the whole family they are a family-friendly restaurant. I love to go to their weekend brunch where they have a huge assortment of goodies and an omelet station where they make your omelet to your specific taste while you watch. Its great. The only thing is they are a little pricey but the quality is second to none. The staff are courteous and helpful and everything is very clean and organized. Overall a very pleasant dining experience.
The view was very nice. The actual building needed some up keep. There was a broken window that needed repair, the overhead strands of lights were very dim, woodpaneling in the reception/event rooms. It took quite some time for our server to get back to us. It seemed like wed see him about every 30 minutes. The food was okay. The view and my date was the best part of this restaurant.
We held our rehearsal dinner here at the end of March. I literally cannot imagine a more perfect night! The room was beautiful. The hosted bar was excellent. The food was delicious. We had an amazing night, and all of our guests couldnt stop raving. The view is what seals it. The twinkle lights and fire pits didnt hurt either.
Our waiter was wonderful. However, whatever was coming out of the kitchen was not. Everything was served to our table cold.My prime rib was so chewy & still raw. It was very upsetting for our party trying to celebrate a birthday. It was a small party of 6 and the the place was mostly empty, so I dont understand why the food was so cold.
One of the best location, friendly staff, An excellent services I ever experienced, reasonable prices and delicious meals, best view and atmosphere. I always recommend Hilltop Collection San Bernardino 100% satisfaction. You must try it then, you will be in love for ever,,, Guaranteed
All 20 of us enjoyed a delicious meal for Thanksgiving. It was the first year Ive not had a home cooked meal and I wasnt disappointed. There was endless champagne/mimosas/coffee/sparkling cider and the food selection was just amazing. All of the regular Thanksgiving selections plus breakfast items, salads, desserts, other delicious meats and a fun table just for kids. I highly recommend this beautiful location atop a hill overlooking a lot of wonderful California scenery!
Ive been to this restaurant a few times now. This restaurant needs a major renovation inside. For a place with such gorgeous views and nice curb appeal, the inside is beyond lackluster. The food is pretty good and Ive gotten something different every time. The drinks are not good.... Unless your idea of a cocktail is different juices mixed together. Seriously, overly sweet and ineffective.
Went for brunch.....this wasnt our first time here for bunch but it has been a couple of months. They have increased the price and it is definitely not worth the money now. This view is still spectacular. The food and staff on the other hand not so much. I figured with the increase price there world be a nice variety of food, but it seems like they have cut back. Our waiter for the day was hit and miss we had to search for him most of the time. Next time I go to brunch it will not be here it will be the at the Mission In or Winson Creek
This place is Fantastic!!! Had Resv at Mission Inn and decided to skip it and take a chance here for Thanksgiving brunch. So glad we did! Blows the Mission Inn away and for $25 less! The atmosphere and service was excellent.Unbelievable spread, we tried everything and it was all great! The prime rib, turkey, salads, desserts, menudo, tamales. All delicious and well seasoned!Well worth the drive in this pouring rain!We are super impressed! Free bottle of Champagne with brunch guys!Happy Thanksgiving!
My wife and I went there for our anniversary with my best man and my wifes maid of honor. As we walked up the walkway there is a very nice koi pond under a bridge it was very clean and filled with very healthy looking koi. Right before entering the door there is a very pleasant looking fireplace that was lit up. We were greeted as we walked in the door, we informed them we had reservations for four and our name. The Ambiance was very pleasant and calming with light jazz in the background being played through the speaker system. The evening view over the valley is a beautiful site in ones opinion. We were seated almost immediately when we walked in. Our waiter was very tentative to our needs throughout the evening. The food came very swiftly after the appetizer was finished. We were all very satisfied with our dishes that included salads Steak and Seafood with steamed vegetables and potato. Plenty enough food for each of us and the flavors in the food were exquisite. They brought us desert that had a happy anniversary on the plate which was a nice touch in my opinion. We will definitely eat there again.
I was there on Saturday, February 9th, at 7PM. The service was barely okay. The Shrimp stuffed with crab was salty. The waiter didnt come to our table when we were seated. The salad was served before the appetizer. We received the wrong wine. The restaurant had beautiful views of the city lights.
They paid such good attention to my husband. It was nice and quiet. Great food. Great staff and hospitality, my husband was all smiles and enjoyed every moment of his time. From the moment he stepped out of the car, he was supposed. I love this place and have taken many people here to celebrate their birthdays!
The driveway is very hard see in the dark. The parking lot is large, but many of the parking spots are right against the edge. The restaurant is very nice and the view is lovely. All the servers are polite and helpful. During Christmas time, the restaurant has beautiful decorations.
βGood service. Not so good food. βHusband took employees here for holiday dinner. Service was great! One person waited on food for 40 minutes after everyone got theirs. Waitress explained that she didnt like the way her lobster looked, so she had the cook make a new one. She ate her dinner while we were all finished and she said it was cold.
Amazing food. This place is a hidden treasure if you ask.me. Wow what a view up on top of the hill. Almost like a campus. You can walk around the restaurant inside and out. Lots to see and explore. Staff is very friendly and outgoing. Cant say enough good things. Looks like a great place for receptions or functions. They have many rooms for events. Sign up for their email promotions if you want to stay in the loop for food and drink specials
The view was superb and even impressive waterfalls over a wood covered bridge for those who want magical photographs. The wedding I attended for a dear friend left me feeling so happy for them, I can think of no better place to unite two lives who are truly special. Absolutely worth booking for events.
As a Christmas gift my kids made Reservations for my husband and I to have dinner at this Castaway in Burbank, and we were really excited to go. Unfortunately the experience was horrible! When we got there, there was no Hostess to seat us and we had to look for someone to be seated even though the place was pretty empty. We sat at the bar while our table was being prepared, and when the Hostess came to get us she said we could not be seated until she made sure we paid our tab at the bar... as if we were the type of people who wouldnβt pay our tab. Once we were seated, weβre were given water and bread and told our waiter would be with us soon to take our order. We waited an hour and no one came to take our order, or even asked if we wanted more water, or anything. By that time we were pretty upset and got up and walked out! We ended up going to Del Taco for dinner instead. Itβs pretty sad to say that we received better service at Del Taco then we did at the Castaway... I do not recommend Castaway restaurant in Burbank due to making us feel like we were being discriminated against, and their lack of customer service!Thank you,
Went here for Sunday brunch and the food was mediocre. The price was too high for the quality of the food. The service was lacking and it appeared that the view room service area was understaffed. Our server was too busy working many tables that she could not attend to us quickly for simple things such as refills of the water or champagne. The desserts were lacking and some of them did not taste fresh. When coffee was refilled the coffee pot tasted like some of the old coffee was reused and watered down coffee was served, when it was addressed we were notified that there was no more coffee available. All in all I wouldnβt come back here and pay the $49.99 due to the lack of service and average tasting food.
The food is poor!!! For the price of almost $45.00 for brunch per person is really disappointing. The food was almost like home town buffet but, unfortunately their food is worse. My lady and I werent too thrilled with the food. The egg omelet for example wasnt egg. If anything it had like one eggs and five cups of cheese. The staff there was good just the food is very disappointing. I would never come back to place and I dont recommend to come to this place unless youre in the parking lot taking a picture of the view. So bottom line just dont pay for the food.
A beautiful bone in steak, but no flavor. I took a bite from my boyfriends plate. It just needed a good salt shaking before putting it on the grill. Instead, they tried to mask it by covering it with gravy. The sea bass was overcooked and dry. Once again, they tried to hide it with a light broth sauce. You come here for the view, not the food.Service was also lacking that night. We waited at the empty front check in table for 5 minutes and no one was concerned there were guests coming in for their reservation.I specifically left room for dessert because they had a beautiful dessert platter to showcase what they have. When I got my bread pudding, it was completely filled with raisins. I did not enjoy it at all.
Loved this place. Went in on a Thursday night and it felt like I had the place to myself. Ive been there on the weekends and I prefer mid week. Food is always good, service is excellent and the managers are always on top of it. Youve got to check it out, best place in the IE.
The place is beautiful with the best view in the city of San Bernardino but if they can hire a better chef could be the place in the world , food is disgusting cold , old the filet mignon was 47 buck but they give us like a cardenas steak super cheap...so place is good just not the food.....
I was at this restaurant on 10/6/2018 because my dear friend had her wedding reception there in the View Room. The entire ambiance of the restaurant both inside & outside is SPECTACULAR! It sits up on a hill overlooking the city of San Bernardino & the views are amazing especially at night when the lights in the city shine. The outside grounds boast a garden like setting, a koi pond, gazebo and scenic views. The inside is stellar and very clean. The staff just wonderful. Excellent place to eat, cater parties & wedding receptions. I definitely want to go back with friends just to eat & relax! Highly recommend this place!!! π€©ππΌ
Another Great great fresh all u can eat Hill top restaurant, Great relaxing , Clean casual dress u gotta come try for yourself restaurant. You wont regret it. Price reasonable per person. Service very Professional, verity of Food Fresh and plenty, Lam Chops cook while you wait. Try this great restaurant for yourself very satisfying. πππππ
I havent been here in a while and my daughter told me she thought they changed management or something and the last time she went the food was great. So a friend of mine and myself went here on 11/08/2016. We both ordered the 3 course prix fixe Filet Mignon off the menu. This was absolutely one of the best steaks I have ever had. I am a businessman and have to taken to lots of restaurants all over the world but sure didnt expect this right in my own backyard. BTW if you havent been here the view on a clear night is spectacular. I will definitely return and thanks for an absolutely delightful meal.
Castaway is part of a small Southern California chain. They have excellent food, like rack of lamb, the usual steak selections as well as a multitude of other offerings. Their Sunday brunch is outstanding. The only downside is that they are quite pricey, even for their high level of quality.
Every single dish was exquisite. The tuna and salmon were amazingly fresh and the prime rib was thick and melted in our mouths. I highly recommend the salmon eggs Benedict. The chef is an artist. Our hostess was very sweet and liberal with the champagne which was delicious and I usually hate champagne.
The location is definitely hidden. It is on a hilltop, which provides you with a beautiful view overlooking the city. You just have to be cautious when approaching the entrance because it is easy to pass when you are coming around the curve. I passed it and ended up having to turn around to go in there. The inside of this establishment looks really nice. I met a few friends for brunch on Sunday. The food didnβt look all that appealing. It seemed to mostly consist of pasta, fruit, cheese and breaded pastries. I have read reviews about this place on yelp and I can definitely confirm they are correct. The server brought me a drink menu and something fell off of it, like a dry piece of food. Then as I was looking over it I noticed a tiny bug crawling on it. That was enough for me to decide I didnβt even want a drink on top of the fact that I didnβt eat the food ( which after seeing that bug, Iβm glad I didnβt). There was a group of people at the table next to ours and they were super loud. It was very annoying and considering the fact that it was a public place, it was embarrassing. I could see the wait staff in the corner looking at the people probably wondering what is wrong with them. I understand everyone is out to have a good time and enjoy themselves but that just creates a little discomfort when you were trying to enjoy yourself with your own group as well.
My Wife and I have eaten here a few times now. Its a nice special occasion place. It used to be a 5 star restaurant but has lowered its value to accommodate by adding more guests and less service. The food was good, not great. The service was good, not great. The view, was great!Tues & Thursdays they have a jazz night which is quite nice.
This 5 star review is for our Server Armando. We were being ignored by the other servers, and waiting for over 30 minutes to place an order.Armando came over even though he wasnt our server, and provided us the best service we ever had at this restaurant. He truly made the experience and goes above and beyond to provide great service.

The food is ok..the best time to come is on a Sunday for their brunch! The views here are what brings people..great ambiance..great service. They have live jazz I believe during the warmer months and that is a great time! Sit outside over looking the valley , jazz music blaring, great appetizers and drinks with someone you love for a perfect romantic night β€οΈ
We have never written a review of a resturant before, but this experience was so bad that we decided to post a review. This is not the first time we dined at Castaways. Our other experiences were posititve. We were seated near the bar which in reality was a few feet from the bar stools. It was on a corner and the staff were zipping in and out of the area with large trays, glasses and pitchers. Also, the line for the bar was directly behind the chair and the patrons were chatting. We could not hold a conversation with one another. The food was cold - the cheese on stuffed mushrooms was not even melted it was so cold. The entrees were lukewarm. The steak was cooked well, the potatoes were cold, the salmon was half cooked. Took the cheesecake home so we could enjoy it. It was good. So, after 100 plus dollars we got a good salad and piece of cheesecake. The one star is for the cheesecake.
Event date was 12/15/17.The staff that received us were not very helpful. A little bit of a disconcern for us after introducing ourselves and the party we were with. The staff for the particular event room was excellent. The general manager was very rude and refused to talk to us. Event rooms are opposite wall and I would not recommend you rent one if you are having an intimate dinner.
The best thing this place has going for it, is the view. It took forever for us to be served and my food was bland. I ordered the Parmesan Chicken, which I expected to be baked, but it was deep fried. A huge chicken breast but very bland. The broccoli and asparagus was over cooked. The mash potatoes were good, but luke warm. I only come here when Im part of a large party, for work/church. Last night was the worst service I have ever received. It took way too long to get our food. Theyre were 2 other large events going on, so maybe that was the problem. I dont know. Our servers were very nice, doing the best they could do. If you want a good meal at a decent price, dont go here.
We love this restaurant. We had Sunday Brunch here and for the first time we had a failed meal. They took care of it promptly and offered us a compd brunch on them for the foul up. The food selection is awesome. There is no way you can even sample everything they have there.
Recently had a catered event at the Castaway. The view - fabulous! The food while tasty - the hot food could have been a little warmer. The room layout and dΓ©cor was lovely. The service was great however when your time is up - your time is up - they start rushing you out. Parking can be an issue if there are other events happening at the same time. It is a beautiful place and we did have a wonderful event! Good value for the $$$$
My guy and I bad a pre-valentine/ birthday dinner. The views are amazing. The food was meh. Not worth the price. He had chicken pasta which was overcooked and short of dry. I had salmon with lemon butter sauce. It was ok. Server was sort of curt and not attentive at all. We had to ask for refills and remind him we asked. The views are the only reason Im giving it 2 stars.
One of the best meals I have ever had. I had a little bit of everything, and I even got to meet the chef. The manager Brian was awesome, and he was very helpful in helping me to make my selections. I recommend you try the food here. The taste is definately worth the experience. Great service, and very good staff.
Edward was our server, very cordial and knowledgeable. We chose from the 3 course win paired menu wife had stuffed mishrooms, I had the calamari. Main course wife had prime rib, I had shrimp with pasta. For desert we both chose strawberry shortcake. The wines paired with each course were well selected and very good. We will be returning.
We were celebrating my husbands birthday and decided to go to this place for the first time. It looked nice online and rated very well. When we arrived, there was no one to greet us. We were confused where to go or to just sit down. So we asked a woman for some help and she seemed uninterested in doing her job. Im not sure exactly what her job title was but did not care to see us standing there with our two little girls. When we sat down, no one came up to us for at least 10 min. Which by then Im ready to get up and leave but we were there for my husband and already drove more than 40 miles to eat. So we waited until someone arrived. Our waiter finally comes over and also seemed uninterested in serving us too or doing his job. I asked what was the fish of the day and he didnt know. My husband and I ordered drinks and appetizer which all seemed very good. The bartender can make a well mixed drink. When our food arrived it was hot, not very tasteful. I was expecting a flavorful dish. Our girls ordered the chicken fingers with fries. I cut up one of my daughters chicken fingers and saw that they were undercooked. She already had eaten one. So I informed our waiter. He returned back very quickly with a bigger plate of chicken and fries. He waited for me to cut into it to see if it was to my liking. To only find out that the chicken wasnt just undercooked this time, it was fully raw! As raw can be. Not even a little cooked. I showed the waiter and his face was in shock. My husband and I ate shrimp entrΓ©es and we thought if they cant cook a chicken finger. Geez! I hope our girls dont become ill. We will not be returning!
I absolutely dont write reviews, not one review, but after the service and care I received last night, I feel I should give credit where credit is definitely due. Last night was the birthday party for my mom and aunts 60th (Yep, Twins!). From the very beginning with our event coordinator Mary, to our Party Captain ReaAnna, everything was so wonderful and smooth. The service was exceptional! My sisters, cousins and I, who were hosting the party were so pleased. Everyone had such a good time, the food was excellent, and our guests and our moms enjoyed themselves greatly. It was one of the best service experiences Ive had from anywhere. Thank you Castaways staff for making our experience so awesome!
Mothers Day 2018. My daughter surprised me and took me here for Morhers Day. Very very pleased with the host and greeters. We only waited 20 minutes or so...just as promised. Food was scrumptious. Very Good. However, many of the items were out and not replenished quickly enough. It made for a long jump back and forth to check. Temperature of many of the dishes were warm and not hot. Variety was amazing. A few labels were at the wrong dishes. The Omelette chef was awesome. There was a raffle -- we werent winners but my daughter won with this choice. I loved the ponds, ambiance, the grounds and friendly staff. We were only a party of two. Strangely there were no seating accommodations for two near the window. The exit door we were sat close to in the Waikiki room (table 344) was continuously propped open on a very chilli and brisk day today. We kept asking for it to be closed.....but it kept getting propped back open. I server was very friendly and curteous. Clean restrooms. Lots of parking, live jazz and music choice was excellent. I absolutely loved it!
The food is over the top. No complaints there. We tend to do Sunday brunch when we do go. But regular food service days and holiday brunch is way too pricey. That is why the three stars. Again the food is well prepared. However on the last Christmas brunch the food was a little cold. If price does not matter to you it is a five star restaurant.
This upscale restraunt at least that is what they are trying to be has given me and my beautiful wife our worst aniversarry/valentines days ever We originally had reservations on the 14th at 8pm and when i called to confirm i was told that they are fully booked for a month in advance and that would be impossible. i go online after the call and i am able to book a reservation on the 13th, (window seat) i thought you were a month out.. nope they are just incompatent. We get there and the outside is so beautiful with the river and outside fireplace. Unfortunetly there are no window seats available after i confirmed with tweedle dumb. We get seated Immediately and it takes about 45 minutes to get bread and put in our order. I asked them for well done beef briskets. They were not. My wife also asked them for her fillet minjion to be cooked meduim rare, it was not. It was well done. I got the parmasian chicken and the chicken was not cook through all the way. The ouside was burnt with the cheese i get what thay are doing, but it was not exicuted correctly. Toasted cheese it not supposed to taste burnt. I bit my toungue through the whole experiance... why? Because it was I and my wifes anniversary/ are early valentines day because they made it so since they have a hard time keeping track of reservations. I did want to ruin that night for my love, but they sure as f ruined it for me. They charged absurd prices for small portions and they are not even dilishious. BJS and olive garden is 10 times better. Oh dont even get me started on the decor inside the place. It is very out dated. The funny part of my night is when i tipped the waiter i gave him three dollars. You lose my reservation, you make me have valentines and my aniversary a day early, you cant get any of our request right, you bring pink chicken too the table and you expect a tip? Be happy for the three dollars.
Excellent food, service was courteous and pleasant. Visually, its an amazing spot. Its high up on a hill, a beautiful look at the city, and gorgeous koi fish river you cross on a bridge to get to the entrance.Great place for a first or 30th date, excellent family spot for Sunday brunch, and great rooms for business meetings and gatherings.
Went with a party of 8 for Sunday champagne brunch. Excellent choices at the buffet, special requests were served quickly by our attentive server, Elizabeth, sweet young lady. The view is great, the food even better.I can certainly recommend that you spend your Sunday at Castaways Restaurant.
Definitely not what it used to be. We went on a Friday night for a graduation dinner and the place was empty, should have been a sign I guess... the food was good but the staff was frumpy looking with average service. The whole place looks run down. If youre celebrating something special Id reconsider going to Castaway.
Great taste in food, its a but pricey so be prepared, if needed try to review the menu at the entrance to get an idea of the dishes and the prices. The service and food is great so you definitely get your moneys worth. This is a very romantic place in the night time, day time also but the night view really takes your breath away. The negative side is it does get windy very frecuently.
My daughter was married there and the Wedding and Reception were nice until a couple of hours into the Reception when the servers started taking everyones drinks of Champagne before the guest even had a chance to taste it! My Daughter and her Husband paid a nice amount of money for the Wedding and Reception here and for the hours of 5-11pm! Why were we being rushed out by 9pm...pretty rude and shady would not recommend for the amount of money that was paid !!!πnot good!!
I went to a banquet there and i definitely overestimated the place. The servers didnt take our plates when we were done. There werent enough seats for us even though we paid $60 per seat. The food was good, i liked how they had a vegetarian option. Also, i could tell the bartender didnt really know what she was doing. Me and my friend both got a Long Island and they tasted completely different. I probably wouldnt hold an event there, but i would come back on a date or something like that
Very Disappointing! Its a run down top of the hill restaurant with like 4 employees running the show. My husband and I came to celebrate our 15th Anniversary here on a Wednesday evening and had a very bad experience....1. We were promised a view window table and it didnt happen. When we got there it was not busy at all just 5 parties there at the time all against the glass window we requested for view of coarse.Β Manager/host said it would be 15 minutes, so suggested the table w/ view window in the bar temporarily until guest had left. Guest left in estimated time, but no one rushed to clean table until an additional 20 minutes later, by then our food came out. And Manager had the nerve to ask while we were eating our main coarse meal if we wanted to move (a little too late).2. Our waiter was rude, unfriendly, and serious. Who was not concerned about us, but he was more concerned about mixing and trying drinks in the bar with other employees including the manager. In addition, we had to ask him ourselves for a refill on our beverages.3. My $48 Filet Mignon dish came out like a $18 sirloin steak not flavorful at all.Β My husbands filet with lobster was much better and my hubby was kind enough to trade my steak with his. To also include, my mashed potatoes tasted like watered down box potatoes.4. No one cared to ask what occasion we were there celebrating at our arrival until we were ready to leave.Β (Probably a better idea to ask in advance so you know how to serve your guest)5. We wanted to share our concerns with the manager before we departed which was the host as well and she deeply apologized and offered to reimburse us to make up for it. Our check was $120 just for 2 and she reimbursed us 11% Wow! Not as apologetic as expressed. It basically paid for the umbrella we left there that never got returned to us when we went back the following day.So Sad! To have our 15 year Anniversary Dinner memory such as that.We unfortunately, will not be returning which is disappointing to us because we love the view and is a fairly local romantic spot. This up class/upscale restaurant has the potential to step it up, but poor management will prevent it from becoming possible. Not worth at all the extra money!Victoria Gardens Flemings is much better or Duanes Prime Steaks & Seafood in Riverside is more upclass and worth the extra money.
The Castaway in San Bernardino has been a favorite place for our family for over 20 years. The managers and servers are so welcoming a friendly. They make us feel like great friends every time we go there. The food is very good. We usually ask for the Sunset menu which includes a salad, a choice of four entrees, and dessert all for a great price! I think its offered until 6:00pm. Along with the great service and food, another favorite part about the restaurant is the incredible view of the valley. On nice days, you can dine outside, but most tables in the restaurant offer the amazing view. This is also an great place to have a private party or wedding. We hosted our sons wedding rehearsal dinner in one of the VIP rooms and it was a night to remember! We have many wonderful memories at the Castaway in San Bernardino. Its tucked away in a secluded area, but its definitely worth the drive!
Su day champagne brunch...way overpriced, although we had advance birthday reservations at 12 noon, waited for 40 minutes to be seated. Our table seating was in walkway, cramped seating, champagne servers seem to take care of certain guests and kept champagne flowing at certain tables and other guests had to wait n flag down a glass of champagne...we did twice for 2 glasses. Food was cold, and food trays were mis_labeled. Server at prime rib station had about 3 inches of prime rib left, dried end, asked him for fresh portions, said this was last available portion, no more. Salads, fruits, shrimp also picked over, enchiladas hard edges dried too long on warming tray.Three adults n one child, our tab was $215. Overpriced, lacks service, ambience, and food was simply bad.
3 stars maybe pushing it on this location. Not what I think of when I have been to the Burbank location a few times. I will not be returning to this SBDO location. First my food was cooked wrong. When you order med well and get very well done, when you order veg on the side and the waiter has to fix it at your table, smoke from the kitchen getting into the dining area and a couple of tables using fans from paper to clear smoke, the wait for the food was 1 thing but when you get it wrong not 1 time but 2 things. If I go back to Castaway it will only be the Burbank location. I have not been there for a year so lets hope it has not ended up like what I just had with my wifes bday
The floor was dirty, especially under the table. My Friend was amazed to discover his shoe stuck on the floor because of a chewing gum, gross. There were also other food wastes on the floor. Then I got a glass of wine, which has been served in a dirty glass... disgusting! When we (finally, it took a long time) got the entries: the meat was overcooked. The service is terrible and the management is a failure. I wont go back to this place. Even a Applebees has way better standards!
This place is way over rated. The restaurant was empty and still took 1 hour to get our food. Once we got our food the NY steak I ordered medium was well done but by that time i just wanted to eat. The food needs more flavor. Overall I was not impressed with this place.
Pricey for terribly prepared food. Waitress friendly but apparently untrained. Didnt know the menu, didnt know drink brands. Ordered New York steak, med rare w/ parmesan Asparagus. Steak warm, sinewy, lacked taste, caesar salad tasteless. Truly disappointed and will not go back
I tried the loaded pasta which sounded great. However it lacked flavor and I could not add enough Tobasco sauce to enjoy it. Wasted $26 and was disappointed. My other friends were not impressed and we will not return. Great view of San Bernardino. Might be nice to go for a drink, but I dont drink. The Carrot cake was not a winner either.
One of the best Champagne Brunches in the inland empire. Excellent food choices with friendly staff. Patio seating is available providing you with the best view. Patio was a little messy and they only had one bartender. So if you wanted to order drinks at the bar, expect to wait for your drink.
My nephew had his wedding at the Castaways March 10, 2018. It was a great event. The staff was excellent. They met all our needs. Rebecca was our coordinator thank you Rebecca for everything. The food was superb. Thank you to the Castaways for a successful event. I will be returning for your Sunday Brunch.
We wanted to experience this restaurant and we made a good choice. Good food and friendly server. I had the Vegetarian Pasta Primavera, the pasta was al dente, excellent choice! The white wine sauce complimented the pasta really well. We would prefer to go to this than the other one.
Managent doesnt seem to have things under control and the service is slow. The serving staff however, are friendly and eager to help. They just seem to be under pressure for their leads. I was extremely saddened to find out one of the best servers they employed, Hope quit. She was great.
I will begin with saying that Castaway has been one of our Sunday brunch favorites. On Sunday June 11th took my husband to celebrate his birthday. It was of a great disappointment starting with not enough servers to work the food at the brunch tables the pasta bar server was jumping back and forth to the carving table. The prime rib was little very small piece that they had which looked dry and cold. The ham and the turkey were also cold. For the amount of people that gets served for Sunday brunch there management should already know how much food and staff they need to have to accommodate the customers. Separately I ordered a salmon eggs benedict, which I had to let the waiter know that the egg was hard boiled which meant it was overcooked and cold the muffin also was dry and hard. Which he did replace it with a nice fresh hot one. I believe that for $40 that I am paying for brunch the food needs to be nice and hot when served the chaffers need to have some type of Heat Going underneath them to keep the food nice and hot. My biggest disappointment was since it was what we chose for my husbands birthday and for the amount of money that we paid it was not worth it at all. Castaways has really lost its touch coming from a restaurant that we have always frequent for Sunday brunch the quality has really gone down. I didnt want to make my husband feel uncomfortable which is why I did not complain to the manager. I wanted to make the best of my husbands birthday brunch. At this point I would not recommend this restaurant again to anyone. I hope that with my posting it will be taken into consideration and management will fix what really needs to be fixed to bring the quality of this high-end known restaurant back to where it should be at a five-star at this point I only give it a 2-star based on that our waiter was a nice guy.
The only positive thing this restaurant has going for it is the view. My family and I had not dined at here in many years, and based on their web sites description of the restaurant, great ambiance and menu, we decided to try it once again. We made dinner reservations for 7:15, for a party of four. We were promptly seated and given menus. We noticed that the dining room was fairly empty with the exception of two other tables with only two people at each. We figured it being a Thursday night, after the dinner rush hour, we wouldnt have much of a wait for our meals. Our waiter didnt come around to offer water or take an order for drinks until 15 minutes after we sat down. Our water was served about 10 minutes later, and our drinks 15 minutes after that. The waiter said he would be back to take our dinner orders, but didnt return for another 20 minutes. Our meals werent served until about 9:00, and were a total disappointment all the way around. My prime rib, ordered medium was well-done, my husbands prime rib, ordered medium-rare, was more than well-done... Pretty dry. He is not one to complain at restaurants or send anything back, but he couldnt bring himself to attempt to eat something that resembled cardboard. We waived the waiter down and showed him the dry cut of beef. He made no appologies, just grabbed the plate and took it to the kitchen. He returned within a couple of minutes, this time with a smaller cut of prime rib, which looked like an end piece, still over done. Too frustrated and hungry to send it back a second time, my husband kept the serving. His baked potato looked and tasted like it had been prepared the day prior, dry, hard, overly microwaved, but was cold and the butter on it didnt even melt. The broccoli on everyones plate was also cold and under done, raw. The shrimp in the Shrimp Diablo ordered by another guest in our party was cold, and dried out... tasted like it had freezer burn and had just recently been defrosted and tossed into the pasta. The fettuccini was over cooked, and about the only thing that made that dish palatable was the Parmesan and fresh basil... No effort, flavor or creativity was put into it.We brought up our dissatisfaction to the waiter, and he didnt even apologize.... merely blamed the entire thing on the chef and kitchen staff! He said it wasnt his fault. We expressed to him that aside from the poor quality of the food, we had slow and poor table service. We stressed to him that as the waiter, he was overall responsible for both. He again said it wasnt his fault, and that the management could offer us a glass of wine or complimentary dessert to make up for it. REALLY?? We werent wanting any comps, an attempt on his part to make things right by asking the kitchen to prepare new, fresh meals, or even just an apology would have been nice. We spent over $250.00 for substandard meals and a poor, disappointing dining experience....and for him to not even acknowledge that mistakes were made?We expected a whole lot more from a restaurant that advertises award-winning cuisine that is prepared fresh daily. The waiters lack of caring to make things right was insulting, no matter the cost of the dinner. Whatever happened to customer service or customer satisfaction? I truly dont know how theyre open for business. This restaurant has potential to be an excellent place for dining and successful restaurant... It already has a great location, but unless the management and owners wake up and hire skilled, competent, and customer-oriented employees, it will fail. We will never return...NEVER AGAIN!
We made reservations to celebrate my twin sonβs 30th birthday for brunch on 12/17, because one of my sonβs wanted prime rib which I was told by the person taking our reservation was included in the buffet menu. It was the most horrible meal weβv ever encountered. I preordered the salmon eggs Benedict & my sons ordered regular eggs Benedict & we went to get food from the buffet while we waited. It took at least 45 minutes to receive the pre-breakfast order. The eggs were stone cold, congealed & hard. In fact the whole buffet was stone cold & not delectable. There was no server at the prime rib table & the βprime ribβ was a cold small slab of meat, nor a server at the pasta bar. The only thing that was warm was the conventional Mexican food which we could get anywhere & did not go for. The only thing that flowed freely was the champagne. I spent over $250 for a substandard meal. I didnβt complain because I didnβt want to ruin the Birthday moment. One son & girlfriend drove from Los Angeles the other son from Santa Barbara & we came from Redlands. This used to be a great restaurant, better management & βprideβare needed again. I intend to call management & convey my disappointment. But donβt go here expecting a βspecial buffetβ, we should have gone to The Mission Inn buffet for about the same cost, or if you want Mexican Buffet spend your money at El Torrito or Las Fuentes for a much more delicious & economical meal.
DO NOT GO HERE. I was looking forward to a somewhat classy dinner and the food was absolute garbage. The servers were good but the manager/cook do not know what they are doing. We have never sent back a plate before, nor do we enjoy doing so. Just sooo disappointing. Dont waste your money.
The service was bad. I took my wife for her birthday we ordered filet mignon whit rice pilaf with a bake potato and a green salad. The rice was cold and the green salad was going bad. The filet mignon did not have any taste. For bing such a nice place food should be better with their service.
One of the best brunches ever! Great variety. Separate omelette station. Central carving station. Lots of salads and veggies. Multiple beef (ribs, roast, and prime rib), shrimp and salmon, pork chili verde, and much more. Great desserts: flan, pies, cakes and more. Not to mention bottomless champagne. Boy or boy. Located on the top of a hill with a great view of the valley. Plenty of parking. Great service. Izzie was always there with whatever you wanted. In shor: Fantastic
I went here for a wedding and the outside gazebo area is perfect for a cozy ceremony with a beautiful view of the valley and afterwards they even had the reception inside. Overall the experience was great and the only negative I will say is for what they paid on the food, it wasnt the best.
This place is really romantic. The entrance gives you a nostalgic feeling of something out of the ordinary. It has a mini-bridge with koy fish and giant gold fish that you must cross before you reach the dual door entrance. It even has what looks like a mini-outdoor chapel where one can get married. This is located a several yards away before you reach the bridge. If youre lucky enough to come to this place at night, the many trees and beautiful bushes light up with green laser dots that resemble a distant galaxy. As you finally make your way through the double door entrance, a couple of romantic couches await your arrival. You may choose to sit down if youd like and gaze at the in-wall glass diaplayed fine selection of wines. I think the best seating is outdoor, because the view is breathtaking and beautiful. This is by far, one of the best places you can take your mom, wife, or girlfriend. They will forever remember this place, and you will forever have a piece of their mind. Its well worth the money to come here.
Love the CastawayYou can eat the most delicious food, sit and visit with friends as if you were in your own house and you dont have to move a finger. The mimosas keep coming and you dont think about the timeWonderful place to go and forget about anything that bothers you.

The serbice was outstanding! The Castaways wad booked with 3 events and the service, food, waiters, waitresses, chefs and desserts which i had the strawberry short cake, New York steak, mashed potatoes, onion straws, asparagus, brocolini , carrots and bread was superbly delicious!!!Our table was large 16 guests and 1 baby! OUTSTANDINGπππππππ
For Such a Great Restaurant in the Hills we were very disappointed. This was our first time there and regret not previewing restaurant instead of just going off the internet pictures. We had a large party of over 20 people and were hosting our Corporate event and would never return or recommend this restaurant. Just some things that we experienced to name a few.1) Slow service2) No wine buckets & stands for our Champane bottles.3) Not enough staffAfter one of the busboys drenched a glass of water on one of my guests I immediately called on the Manager Alicia & Expresses of horrible experience and worse thing is she did not act surprised or did anything about it as if she knew the place was run down and management did not care. If I could put a zero I would. Good luck .
Made a reservation a month out and explicitly requested a table by the window. I called two weeks and a week prior to my arrival to ensure that we had a table by the window. However, when we got there, the hostess (rude and uppity Mexican girl with glasses) told us there werent any available. No big deal. We were then seated in a booth on the other side of restaurant FAR from the window. Fine. Looking around, we saw THREE empty tables by the window. They were empty for 90 mins and 2 were still available by the time we paid and left. During our dinner, the Mexican hostess seated two walk-ins (dressed like they just got done doing construction work) at the window table. I know they were walk ins because I walked by the hostess (en route to the bathroom) and the couple stated that they didnt have a reservation. That really pissed me off.Secondly, the attitude of our waiter was abominable. I believe his name was Edgar. During our entire meal he was extremely inhospitable. I dont know why he would outright lie about clam chowder being the ONLY soup available for the Prix Fixe when the people behind us were able to order and receive French Onion soup. Further, he came by twice during our meal -- once immediately after WATCHING us putting food in our mouths, he bum rushed us and asked if everything was ok. I didnt even have a chance to swallow and ask him why they would put gravy on top of the Filet and NOT the mashed potatoes. Second time he came around was to deliver our checks at which time I reminded him that our daughters meal comes with an ice cream. He responded by rolling his eyes and telling me that he didnt think she would want the ice cream as it was freezing cold outside. Yeah OUTSIDE Edgar but we were seated directly next to the busy kitchen and the heat from it drafted into our booth. He was by far the worst waiter Ive ever encountered. Lastly Im not sure if he was instructed to call us friends but that got annoying real quick. His attitude did not make us feel like friends -- made us feel like three guests he wanted to collect the tip from.Food also isnt up to par. If you want better steaks, go to Mortons or Flemings. Not this pathetic excuse of one. As Ive mentioned before they put the gravy on top of the filet and leave the terribly-mashed potatoes bare naked. Btw there were still large chunks of potatoes in the MASHED potatoes. the best thing at this place is the kids menu. For a measly $8 you get a monster of a meal. Chicken strips. So yes if you want to order a chicken strips or cheeseburger kids meal (something the chef and sous chefs at this place cant screw up), then I recommend this place. Otherwise stay away. If youre looking for a view while dining, go to the other restaurant thats situated on a cliff (I believe its in Pomona). Lastly, good luck getting up the hill to the parking lot at this place.
I wish zero stars was an option. I am actually shocked at how poor the food was. For that price, you would think you got actual mashed potatoes. Not instant potatoes. The prime rib was cold and raw (it was ordered as medium). The last plate was served approximately 1 hr after the first meal came. We were told that the reason our deserts were different (our cheesecake tasted like mashed potatoes) is because we bought the special. Do NOT offer a special with sub par food. A special should be a deal. Not yesterdays leftovers. Secondly, please explain how two children got mac n cheese, yet one came out 45 minutes AFTER the other?? How does that happen? Were talking Craft mac n cheese. There is absolutely no reason for that. The owners need to sell this place to someone who cares. The representation on your website is absolutely NOT what the reality is. I sincerely hope you all take these complaints seriously. This place has so much potential under the control of the right people. It is obvious the owners DO NOT care. We will never eat here again.
Disappointed. Went today at 6pm to celebrate a birthday. Gate to parking lot was closed , no info on site about hours deviation other than should be open. Called the number and nobody answered, but the message said hours as well. Dont waste your time without calling ahead.
I was disappointed. The service was very slow. There were children running around like they were in a school playground. I understand it is not the staff responsibilities They are not hired to be babysitters nor are the other customers . Children should not be running around in that manner because anything can happen to them or someone else.
San Bernardino is nothing special folks, but the location of Castaways, up in the hills overlooking the city, makes the view something else!We took a very important client out to eat with us and I was looking for a nice restaurant in San Bernardino. I was finding things like 5 Guys burgers as one of the best dining experiences in town until I ran into reviews of CastawaysWe drove here and up the hills. Our guest raved about how pretty the view was (whew)The food here is good (not great) so you do get more than the view. I would eat here again if I needed to go back to San Bernardino
Love passed away in an absolute gym and the ugliness of San Bernardino very affordable if you go for happy hour The margaritas are the best the spinach and artichoke dip is always freshly-prepared made individually for every customer extremely tasty and feeling enough for two people the calamari is always fresh and served beautifully on a bed of salad or great sauces to dip I also have the opportunity to go to the Mothers Day brunch which is very pricey but has a wide variety along with bottomless mimosas
I will try to get you to know that this restaurant and me have history from the late 1990s. It was a go to for Mexican food then and now that I was in the area was wondering if they had changed. The restaurant has remodeled but the food is what you will appreciate. Thanks for the memories.
Food was served cold to us food was not properly cooked as ordered we order artichoke dip and it was bootlegging food had no salt which means no flavor mixed drink with good beer was good scenery was good overall with food Ill give them a 2-star I would not recommend or will notbe back

2022-04-22We recently moved to the area and weve been to Hilltop a grand total of 4 times for special occasions and every single meal service was outstanding. The food is beyond delicious - love their basil pesto dip they serve with breadsticks!! They staff are very friendly. And lastly, the ambiance and hilltop city views are breathtaking! Definitely a must try if you havent ππ₯°

2022-07-03Came here for the first time: made my reservation through Open Table and when we got there we were immediately seated. The place was clean and quite upscale. The view was also great from where we were sitting. I ordered their Mai Tai drink and sadly it was not as good as I expected, I could not taste any other ingredient but the ice and rum. For starters we ordered the Spinach Dip which tasted great and was full of flavor and the Fried Calamari which was not as good, it was very stringy after every bite and just tasted cheap. I ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, the chicken was good but the pasta was lacking flavor, it tasted like it was cooked in simple olive oil with garlic. My parter got the New York Steak and he wasnt super impressed either, his mashed potatoes where salty and half of his steak turned out to be pure fat. The customer service was good and the place has an area outside where you can sit around a firepit and another area where you can take pictures which was nice but I probably wouldnt come back as it seems we paid a pricey ticket for a nice view and fancy napkins.

2022-04-17Came for the Easter Brunch and found out that the menu on the website is not what they were actually offering. Staff response was that it was from last years brunch, instead of apologizing for the mix up. Eggs Benedict was supposed to have ham and it didnt. Steak was over cooked so it was sent back and picture was what I got. Im sure they served this on purpose. Showed the server and he laughed when he saw it and took my plate away. Asked for regular Belgium waffles instead of the orange cranberry waffle instead but got the orange cranberry ones anyways. The third course was bad, the other 3 courses were good. For $68 a plate I would have expected a better overall experience.

2022-06-25So glad this place is back open! Aside from the obvious beautiful view, the food was great, we had a very nice evening. Although short staffed, The staff are very friendly and attentive. The Chef was friendly and they all seemed genuinely nice and happy to have guests. Definitely would recommend going here. We will be going back fore, gotta try out the brunch. I hear it really good.

2022-07-08I am giving this place a three because I ordered an old fashion and it was not up to par. The food is delicious worth the price. We sat outside and the view was very nice. Looks like a good place to have an affordable event. I was just really disappointed with my drink. I love good drinks and if theyβre going to sell a drink for $12 I expect a good drink and what I got was some sugared whiskey, watered down with tons of ice. Venueβs look also needs an update!!!

2022-01-12Awesome place to take a date or a group of friends to hangout. The prices are very reasonable and so are the small dishes. I love the decor, its very modern and relaxing. Their happy hr they have half price wines and 3 dollars off beers. If you love wine and a chill relaxing environment, the Hilltop Collection is the place to be.

2022-05-09Horrible food!!! I took my mom yesterday for Mothers day. We had a party of 10 and 5 of us were not happy with the food. We ordered prime rib, lamb and chicken and waffles. The prime rib was hard as a rock. She sent her food back and it came out again in the same condition. Waffles old and hard. Chicken not cooked all the way. Tip added in bill and it wasnt deserved. I paid 305 dollars for food that we didnt eat. I will Never return

2022-05-13Had reservations for the day before mothers day. Beautiful place. Good host & delicious food. The salmon was delicious & although there was no tri tip they replaced it with ribeye bone in. Delicious.Price is worth it because of the view, however the food, although good, its like eating at Black Angus.
