Additional star is just for the location, which is close to nearby ski resorts so its convenient. Im Hilton Honor Gold but at this hotel, upon the check-in, there were 3 staff members at the front desk and no other were there but just me. The 2 younger staffs just continue their chatting not even attempted to look at front door. Finally the senior staff of the 3 came to check me in, when asked for regular Gold upgrade. He simply said we are full and not even tried to say anything else. It was midnight and the parking lot was half empty. I was tired after long drive to get here so didnt want to argue much. Just a really bad check-in experience.Couple other things were just not up to Hilton standard during our stay, tried to call front desk from our room twice, after long wait, no one would pick it up. Also, regular NorthStar shuttle has not come back to service due to COVID while other hotels have resumed similar services some time ago.
The staff was extremely nice, the room was very clean and sanatized, the bed was very comfortable, the view was beautiful, and the morning breakfast is delicious, its close to downtown shopping. Our family was very happy with our stay and we definitely recommend it does not disappoint!
We enjoyed our stay, the rooms were large and everything worked (I think, we didnt try the hot tub due to water conservation), and the location was convenient to Incline Village, Sand Harbor, and Emerald Bay SP. But the fixtures and furnishings were very worn, a lumber yard blocked our mountain view, and nearby private jet airport was noisy on weekend.
Requested towels to be delivered for the third day and to have our garbage removed. Had to do this 24 hours ahead. Get back to the hotel on the third day.....no clean towels, shampoo, conditioner or lotion and bed not made. We had put our towels in the tub so they were in a wet ball. Garbage flowing over the little container after three days. We have stayed here multiple times but we are moving to the new Marriott where service is a priority.
Wow. From the moment we arrived to when we left the stay here was great. We were greeted with smiles and much friendliness. The staff at this Hampton Inn is great. They made you feel like they cared and wanted to take care of you. Everything was clean. During breakfast, which was great because I did not know it was included, I watched the staff make sure that everything stayed stocked and kept clean. They were amazing. They even helped guests take there food to their tables. They walked around and asked people how everything was. What hotel place does that. We accidentally left some stuff in our room and they called us to let know and told us that the items would be at the front desk when we came back. Just fantastic. My family and I will definitely stay here again. To all at the Hampton Inn, thank you for everything.
We stayed for two days and enjoyed our stay. All of the staff was very friendly and they seemed to enjoy what they did. After checking in for an hour the front desk checked on us to make sure we were happy with the room. I asked for more pillows and they quickly came. The rooms are starting to feel dated, but its not terrible. We called the maintenance staff and they quickly addressed an issue in the room. They even did so with a smile. The continental breakfast had a nice assortment of items. The staff were attentive to our needs and they were definitely busy bodies. Recommendation is to stay away from the scrambled eggs. They taste like they are instant made eggs.Overall, we had a nice stay.
Spacious room, nice staff both at desk and breakfast. It is a bit old, bed was not comfortable and fridge quite noisy, but for a ski weekend it is fine. Good location between north star and Truckee but you need the car for everything. The breakfast was quite ok for covid times.
I arrived at the Hampton Inn the evening of March 4, 2021. I was traveling alone. The young man at the front desk stated I didnt have a reservation. I gave him my confirmation number. He went nuts and told me that he didnt like my attitude and refused to complete my reservation. He then requested my ID and credit card to open a new reservation. I gave him both forms of ID. He them stated, he didnt want my kind there. That phrase still bothers me, along with placing me out in the cold with no place to stay. At one point I thought he might be talking to someone else.I found my way to Best Western where they were friendly and provide great customer service. Thank you Best Western for giving me a room and getting out of the cold weather.
Very nice staff, clean and quiet. Room is a bit small but very nice. Refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot in the room. I brought my Roku and hopefully it will work. Breakfast is served from 6-10. Today is Monday and we leave on Friday so I will add something if it changes.
The entrance was lovely. Coming in we were greeted by a beautifully lit wreath, warm decor, and friendly front desk agents. Check in went very smoothly. The room was about typical of a hotel, but again, the decor was definitely in my taste. It was warm woods and rustic charm without being hunting cabin-y. There were a few cons. One being that the bed was a bit hard. Im a side sleeper so that wasnt the best for me, but back sleepers would be in heaven. Also, in the morning we noticed how things the doors were. We could hear any people talking as well as the housekeeping carts rolling along the hallway. Breakfast had fresh made waffles that were quite tasty. The rest of the continental breakfast was not very tasty, unfortunately. The crew serving were very pleasant, however. All in all it wasnt too bad of a stay.
After arriving very late I was greeted by a friendly host who promptly checked us in. The lobby and room were both clean and looked up to date. The room was a double queen and was typically sized with plenty of space. There was a handy outlet and phone charger platform right on the night stand which was great because I only remembered my charge cable. The beds were very comfortable with nice, clean linens. Toiletries were also nice, I liked that the soap was actually big enough to hold on to. The hotel remained very quiet all night (Friday night), though I did arrive well after most people would normally have gone to bed. If there was room for improvement it would be breakfast. It was clean and featured a larger than usual variety of food and drink options, but some of the bread products were stale and the coffee was typically so-so. Overall I still enjoyed my meal and appreciated the friendly, helpful staff.
Beautiful sparkling clean hotelThe rooms were amazing very comfortable beds and pillows and everything was very cleanThe staff were very pleasant and friendly especially Kayla at the front desk was very accommodating and understanding of our needs .Really recommend this hotel for a comfortable home away from home feeling while near lake tahoe or skiing at Northstar resort
Great place to stay at when planning to go skiing/snowboarding because of its close proximity to several ski ridges and while there, perhaps make a quick trip to the Tahoe Lake beaches and parks. If you want to go a little farther, Reno, Nevada is just some miles away. The hotel staff are very welcoming, helpful and friendly, add it to the warm country feel of the place.
Rooms are always clean and well appointed. Prices are higher than other Hampton Inns but its the area and season. Their breakfast options are great. Staff is friendly and helpful. Only downfall is the single slow elevator, so if you dont mind taking the stairs , Id recommend using them to save time.
When it comes to hospitality this hotel is definitively five star. I was greeted at the desk, the person knew my name, knew where I was from and chit chatted just a little bit to make me feel welcome. There were small little touches. One was when the elevator was on the ground floor the door was open. Doesnt seem like a big deal but when youre struggling with luggage its great to be able walk right into the elevator. At breakfast the next morning, the staff made sure that we were well taken care of. And a gentleman came through the dining room asking if he could do anything more for us. He passed through a second time and picked up my wifes plate and took it to the trash for us.My wife and I felt like we were treated like royalty.
The hotel is very clean and has a nice rustic feel. The front desk staff is always nice and smiling, theyre very helpful. Rooms are pretty clean I havent noticed anything that stands out as terrible. I spent three weeks here so theres plenty of time to notice issues. The building is pretty secure all exterior doors except the main front doors require key card access. The Hilton mobile app works for room key access.
Traveling on a holiday weekend there wasnt much available, but Im glad. Ended up booking a suite and it was georgeous. The lobby was very impressive and fit with the surroundings. The room was clean and fresh and had a nice sitting area and fireplace. Breakfast was decent and they even had gluten free waffles. The staff even prepared the waffles. Overall a very nice stay.
Amazing location, an ok hotel. The budget version of the Hilton family hotels with not so budget room prices. Heated small outdoors pool, little jacuzzi, limited equipment in the gym area. Appreciated their free unlimited coffee, tea, cookies in the lobby. Breakfast was above average. The room lacked lighting. Other than that, it was very average. Dont expect stunning views from the rooms window either.
Decent room, acceptable accommodations, clean room, but no closet. Bed was springy, and colors were dark and dated. A little older feeling but at least it was available last minute during the snow storm. Plus, they served hot cider and hot chocolate when you are checking in, that was nice.
Great helpful front desk. Easy check in, big parking lot. Great morning breakfast, very nice hospital workers working the breakfast area. They were replacing the all the rooms mattresses at the time but the workers where polite. Big clean rooms, bathrooms were cleaned well. Great location and I recommend staying there if in the area.
This is a beautiful Hampton Inn located near Lake Tahoe and very conveniently located off of the interstate but far enough away from it that you dont feel like you are staying off the highway.. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They called me to find out if my room was suitable. The fitness center could be bigger with more equipment but overall, a very nice facility. The breakfast bar was excellent with a great selection of food. The breakfast staff was cheery and very helpful.
The Best Hampton Inn weve been to. We LOVED it. Warm & inviting. Very Clean, great service, respectful. I can go on heck even the guest with children small & teens were well behaved. Its not so big that it gets over crowded which we love & with that scenery awesome. Very relaxing.
Super nice place to stay. The breakfast in the morning is great besides the ladies that host it. They were way too agressive about trying to clear my plates and make my waffles. For the record, I love cooking and baking.. So considering a waffle a morning was the closest I was getting to that for a two week stay, I enjoyed making my waffle every morning. I did not enjoy the mornings where I was in the process of spraying the iron or filling my cup with batter and had those items taken from me and was forced to stand back and watch someone else make my waffle. I understand that to some they may be thrilled that someone else is cooking for them, but as I said before I had to stay there for two weeks for work, so I had no home cooked meals and was missing my kitchen terribly. Also, we ask for a fridge upon arrival, even had medicine that had to be cold, but never received a fridge in our room. We were told they would check if there were any available daily when we ask. I find it hard to believe that not a single room with a fridge had people check out of it in the two weeks. There is one behind the desk on the first floor, but this is very inconvenient when you are on the 3rd and have to make trips back and forth for medicine, milk for my cereal, or new years eve snacks. Besides those two points, it was a good stay.
Great stay this past weekend. Checking in was a breeze and accommodating to our late arrival. Morning breakfast was yummy and had a great selection of hot and cold foods. They have coffee, tea and hot chocolate available 24/7 and the lobby area is very inviting. Parking and entrances to the lobby are conveniently placed.
The place is awesome as a 3 star hotel. Location is great - 10 minutes drive to Northstar resort. 5 minutes drive to an area with lots of restaurants. 15 minutes drive to Safeway. Staff here is also super friendly. You also get free parking and free breakfast. If you are skiing. There is a bus stop right outside of the Hampton inn. Busses come every hour and will take you to Northstar. Certain period of time in the year the busses run extended hours and its very nice as you can ski until lift closes. But sometimes it only operates until 4:30 or 5:30. Make sure to check out bus schedules at tart website ahead your trip. Overall, great hotel with very nice location.
Great hotel in a good location, only 5 minutes to Northstar and about 20 to Squaw. Bedrooms are spacious and clean. Continental breakfast has a lot of options including fresh fruit. Yum. Staff is friendly. They also have an outdoor pool and hot tub. Pool is closed during the winter (of course) but the hottub is alive and well. Id stay here again.
Location is nice, between the ski slopes and the downtown of truckee. The rooms were extremely clean and well kept, and the noise level was low throughout the night. Breakfast was a standard compplimentary breakfast with a few rotating items each morning. Coffee and staff were on point and very friendly.
Typical Hampton Inn, which is a good thing. ..always clean, up to date and with good amenities. This one was styled to blend with the local architecture, which was pleasing. The front desk staff was excellent and very accommodating with my early check in. I would stay here again.
Came up to house shop, decided to stay here during COVID because of their partnership with Lysol. Employees not wearing masks, or had them down around their mouths. Not enforcing mask policy, 10% of folks in the hotel had on a mask, if that. Do NOT trust this place for sanitary experience during COVID. Oh, and a bunch of kids ran around at 3am slipping pieces of paper under peoples doors. Im all for a good meme share, just not during a pandemic where multiple people have now interacted and spread the virus, potentially.
The room was a typical 1950s styleroom. Consistent with the rustic area. They have updated the electronics so plenty of USB charging ports. Surprised there was no refeigerator in the room. Also disappointed to find a large bug of some sort in the bathroom. Breakfast was the standard type.
When we checked in and the clerk said we were the Guest of the Day we thought he was joking. However, we were upgraded to a suite with a preferred parking space. Talk about feeling special. Our suite had a living/wet bar area and separate bedroom. In addition, there was a full bathroom with a shower and separate jacuzzi style tub. There was also a powder room off the living area. There was a TV in each living area, although a bit small for the spaces. The wet bar area included a microwave, fridge and sink. The living area had a couch, chair and desk. Wireless and wired internet although the wired internet appeared to be down. Complementary internet is fairly slow and not suitable for streaming. The bathroom was spacious but the lighting could be better in the shower. The bedroom had outlets on one side of the bed but not the other. Other than that, the outlets and lighting were good. The breakfast area is clean with adequate seating. The breakfast is better than most complimentary ones. The staff is fun and efficient.
This hotel is placed in an easy to get to location from I80. Rooms have always been very clean and the staff pleasant to the point they know me by name even after not staying for almost a year. The breakfast starts at 0600 and is better than some restaurants, all for free.
Very nice hotel, clean, staff very helpful. Rooms are a little small but I guess in California, we should be used to paying a high price for anything and its still looked at as a good deal.Do your homework on the various sites to find a good deal, remember Sunday thru Thursday are your best prices, but overall you wont be disappointed.
Location send a bit estranged from town but the quality of service has been outstanding. Were with a wedding party though so it stands to reason we get over the top service. Which they no doubt give everyone but I assume we get some extra effort which has both been noticed and appreciated.
I have been staying at this hotel for years, summer and winter. Close proximity to Northstar, homey atmosphere, outdoor hot-tub, super friendly staff and complimentary breakfast as well as beverages in the lobby all day around make this hotel my favorite place to stay. Highly recommend.
Would have been 0. NO staff wearing masks in the evenings and refused to put one on when asked. NO enforcement of mask policy to guests - so all walking around close to you without a mask on. People slipping weird notes under your door at 3-am and staff not interested. Wouldn’t come here again if my life depended on it, which it might if I’ve caught COVID while here.
***BEST PLACE EVER***Its been ages since weve been back to this location (2005 was the last time and we loved it). We were blown away by the hospitality and level of service at this Hampton Inn. Kayla (Sales Manager) was AMAZING and so helpful from the first contact until we checked out. Kayla and the awesome staff made our stay one we will never forget. My family and friends traveled to Truckee/Tahoe (from Hawaii, Spokane, St. Louis, Las Vegas, Utah, and surrounding areas) to celebrate the life of a very important person, my mother in law. Our event was to take place at Kings Beach in a pavilion as an outdoor event near the water. We didnt realize the weather could turn and it did it was going to SNOW! Not knowing or being prepared for this weather change we were frantic and hustled to find a last minute location to move it in doors. I called Kayla 2 days before we were due to arrive praying for a miracle and she made that miracle happen. She assured me it would work out and took such great care of us I was overwhelmed with gratitude. From the front desk staff, houseman Josh and housekeeping it was a five star stay and experience. Kayla, from the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU so much you have no idea how grateful my family and I are to you and the staff for EVERYTHING you did for us. Truckee Hampton by far our favorite place to stay. Mahalo, thank you and ALOHA!
Absolute worst service i made a reservation tonight around 6pm for two night sunday and monday . the representative told me i can cancel within 72 hours of the reservation and its free cancellation. i called in an hour after because i was going to stay home instead . the same representative told me i couldnt cancel and they went ahead and charged me for both nights keep in mind im still here at home in hayward ca . i havent even packed my cloths yet . they charged me 460 dollars for two nights even though i havent even left my house let alone checked in . i will most definitely be suing this establishment.
I stay in a lot of Hampton Inns, but the WiFi in this location was the worst. I was in the north wing on the 3rd floor, and could barely use Facebook and couldnt use Netflix at all. Otherwise, excellent staff at the front desk (they were very informative about the local area), great breakfast, very clean rooms, and great location. I stay at Hampton Inn a lot for work and need stronger (or even normal) internet though :-/
Its an okay motel Im staying here 2 weeks for work trip theres no microwave and fridge in the room I had to ask for them 3 times later on they called me and said I have to pay $15 pr day to have them, Ive stayed at cheaper hotels and they all had free microwave and fridge

2022-05-31Overall good Hampton inn, typical of my experience with the brand. Location in Truckee was pretty good, just a few minutes to downtown or really anywhere in Truckee. A Raleys grocery store conveniently around the corner. Breakfast was good each morning, was busy and yet food was never in short supply. Heated pool was great for cool days, cleaned each morning. Rooms were overall good, no issues and were clean. Plenty of parking based on a holiday weekend stay.

2022-02-16Not sure if I just caught a bad day or not but I called in advance and asked a few questions about the hotel; if I would be upgraded as a diamond member etc all questions were answered and I went ahead and booked on arrival the front desk person was VERY rude; said there was no upgrades for diamond members & basically just demanded I hand over my card and id I asked why the requests couldn’t be full filled like they said it would be when I called and she blamed in on a new employee stating “she was probably just saying yes” waste of a 3 hour drive smh this hotel is close to a ski resort only reason I even though about coming... wonder how much business they get the rest of the year

2022-06-21Great stay. We loved the hot tub!! Laundry, fitness center, and free breakfast were all really appreciated. Staff were great. You have to request room cleaning in advance as fyi or it reverts to every 4th day. Not a fan of that but understand the circumstances. Walkable to Raleys market and a decent convenience store at gas station next door. The accessibility was great for the accessible rooms. Although the king bed height did make for difficult transfer fromWheelchair.

2022-03-23Im a hilton gold card member and thus expect at least decent service when I stay at a hilton property, usually that includes a room upgrade if available and at the least complimentary bottled water. In this case, the room paled in comparison to the Courtyard Marriott I had previously stayed at in Truckee but that didnt matter much to me. I wasnt even all that upset that my room wasnt made up on our second day at the hotel. The next morning, I made a point of letting them know that we needed our room cleaned and makeup and was promised it would be taken care of. When we arrived back later that evening the room still had not been cleaned. I called down to the desk and they were good enough to deliver a set of towels, garbage bag liners and a few bottles of water along with fresh sheets so that I could remake the bed in my room and put out my own garbage and replace the can liners myself. As if that were not enough, when I went to remove the existing bag from the can, which had two sections, one labeled recycling and the other trash, I realized the same bag was folded so that it went into both sections --- making my efforts to separate my waste pointless.I put out the bagged garbage in the hallway as had been requested. The next morning, the garbage was still sitting there in the hallway. This was not an inexpensive room and the was entirely lacking. The included breakfast paled in comparison to the comparably priced Marriott property which was better in every single respect.I would not stay at this property again and will be giving serious consideration to cancelling my Hilton Credit Amex Card after this experience.

2022-01-03Managers Quote “we run out of hot water often, it’s a known issue”If I could give no stars I would. We stayed here New Years weekend when they are charging ridiculous prices for lodging so I would expect the staff to at least be friendly when spending this much money. Sunday night we head down the the outdoor hot tube (that is way too cold, probably 99 degrees) after skiing. We asked the front desk for towels and were told we can only use gym towels that are very very small to dry off even after our cold hot tub soak he refused to give us full size towels staying “they are in your room and I will be watching to make sure you don’t use any bath towels at the hot tub”.We then go up to our room to take showers at 7:10pm so we can meet our friends for a 8pm dinner. The hot water in our room was not working so I called to the front desk and I’m told “it happens all the time wait 30 to 45 minutes for the hot water to build back up and it should be warm”. I explain we’re all soaking wet cold in our room with no TOWELS and we have dinner plans and we don’t have time to wait that long and I’m told “yea it happens all the time, sorry”.The next day we get down to breakfast at 9:59 when breakfast is supposed to be open till 10 and everything is already cleaned up and put away. I asked Steve at the front desk at 10am on the dot if we can please have breakfast, I’m told no they clean up breakfast 10 minutes early. I push my case that it says 10am not 9:50 and after a little arguing I’m yelled at in front of a room of people eating breakfast by the front desk guy Steve. Finally at check out Monday morning there is a manager on staff and I tell her about our less then perfect stay. Her response is “yea we don’t give out big towels for the hot tub, we run out of hot water A LOT, and the breakfast girls run a very tight ship. Is there anything else I can help you with?”I would avoid this place at any cost!

2022-01-03They are incurring some managerial problems. Think twice if you want to stay. Here are some clues:1) Bring your own toilet paper. For the first 4 days of our stay, no house keeping, we run out of toilet papers2) Some of the employees are extremely unhappy. The lady checked me in as someone else and refused to make the correction. She said you two have the same name. What is the problem, I checked you in!. Well just because we are both Asians does not mean we have the same name. Most important, we have different length of staying. Three days later a pregnant woman helped me to correct it. (She was nice! Add one star because of her!)3) Due to the Tahoe snow storm, we were strangled in this hotel. No one can leave and no one can come in since i-80/i50 are all closed. The manager kicked our family out because the hotel is fully booked. He was right. He was cold.

2022-01-31We had the worst experience ever, at Hampton Inn in Truckee. On the night we booked to stay, the ear deafening(especially to our 8month old twin babies) fire alarms kept going off, numerous times, so we decided we couldnt get a good nights rest there, and should leave. Upon checking out we were PROMISED A REFUND FOR THE DISTURBANCE, and possible hearing loss we had suffered. However, since October 27th, until now, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A REFUND FROM HAMPTON INN, and I am still fighting for them to issue what they promised! I paid through PayPal, and filed a dispute, but the hotel refused to acknowledge my case.

2022-04-29Great hotel! Breakfast service was well done, and the rooms were comfortable!
