I called because a family of Geese where walking down w. Ashlan and trying to cross Ashlan at places other then the cross walks. I called 911 first only to be scolded by a person i can only describe as,, he doesnt like geese ! He says, is this a life or death emergency. I said, yes ! For the geeese !
I normally dont do bad reviews but this month has been bad. Fresno Humane promised my boyfriend and I that if the dog we were fostering bit either us or any of our animals that they would drive to visalia and pick the dog up, even if it was the middle of the night. The dog full on attacked the newcomer puppy multiple times thus week, but we tried being patient because we had had trouble getting in contact with the manager in the first place beforehand. But tonight she full on attacked and hurt the puppy. So we called Tracy the 24/7 number for emergencies and she refused to pick up the dog. I am incredibly disappointed in this shelter. Especially because they promised something and didnt follow through and talked to me stupid as though I didnt know what I was doing. My question is is if you dont think your fosters know what theyre doing fully, then why are you handing out dogs to potential fosters? This place needs to be evaluated before they take over all of Fresno shelter. They dont fully care about the animals or the people that are adopters or fosters. This is your job. Take it seriously. I hope you get the justice you deserve if this is the way youre neglecting the dogs.
I just adopted a kitten For my daughter for Christmas although the process was quick and easy however before i received the confirmation on being able to pick up the kitten I received a call that family member just passed away so like anyone of us would of done I hoped in the car and drove out of town. I called the store and let them know I was waiting on the confirmation email and explained to them the situation and told them that I would be picking her up the following morning if not then the very next day and the store told me that shall be fine just to bring the email with me when I came in but Today I received a call from Brenda from the humane center very rudely telling me if I didn’t get to store by one today I would be no longer able to bring the kitten home I explained to her the situation and still she very rudely said you have till one today to get her telling me that the kitten was taking up space however when my Friend arrived to pick up the kitten for me all the other cages at the store were empty meaning there was plenty of room for the other animals to be placed in. There was no need for this women to talk to me like she did. Just plain rude
Fresno Humane is so very GOOD. They truly are the BEST! They have helped me with ferals that I take care of and do it with no questions asked and they do it quickly. Every person in the office sincerely wants to help, whatever the case may be. They help the community with food and moral support. They ask for nothing in return. If I lived closer, I would volunteer my time to help them in their “thankless” plight. If you are thinking of adopting, I would go there first. They have many dogs and cats looking for forever homes. Thank you Fresno Humane!
They say all animals from Fresno county .. But dont mean that.. Lied to us over the phone. Tried to do the right thing and bring in two baby cats someone dump over my fence. Just to say we dont take any animals from sanger ..if you over populated thats one thing but dont lie!!!!! Domt trust them at all .. Its not worth the gas or time .
I was picking up two dogs with a friend of mine. The employee carried the caged dogs to my vehicle for me! He was very polite. He asked my if I needed any more help getting the dogs ready to go. I didnt. It was a very nice experience. Good customer service skills. Thanks.
I received a call from an officer claiming that she had received photo evidence that three of my dogs were running at large and that I would be receiving a warning in the mail. I was confused as I only have two outdoor dogs, one of which is 15 and doesn’t leave the property. I left multiple messages for the officer after not receiving anything in the mail. I then left a message for her supervisor and no one had the decency to return my call after threatening me with $300 per dog fines for animals I don’t even own! As of today, I have not had any of my calls returned or received anything in the mail. This is a month after the same officer called and accused my animals of mauling a neighbor’s cat. I was able to obtain photo evidence from the cat owner proving my animals were not involved. These officers are biased against people of color and LGBT people just as many others have said.
We adopted our wonderful little dog here a couple of months ago and are SO happy with him! He is such a great fit for our family and has so much love to give. Thank you to the great staff who helped me with the adoption process and for providing a valuable service to the animals and the community.
This is NOT a no kill shelter this is a LOW kill shelter. I would give it five stars if they were a no kill facility. I highly recommend looking here first if you are looking for a new family member. I have brought a few dogs here all of whom were abandoned but so friendly and each time I was greeted kindly and respectfully.
I called, took my deceased dogAlmost 90 in dog years, early onemorning to this facility. Not too hard to find, is west off freeway 180.I wish i could have given them something inreturn for taking her. But cannot affordmuch these days till I go back to work. All I know, is they did, indeed take herTo a better place, than my own backyard.
They are helpfull... I just lost my dog its a bone colored husky blue and brown eyes he has no nails previous owner cut them off so I took him in hes about 1yr so I went to the shelter and the young man that helped me he was very informative thank you so much keep up the work you do for these animals
Found a dog Friday night at 76 gas station and took it to Fresno humane Saturday morning after checking for a microchip to no avail 😞. The staff was quick and what they’re doing is awesome. I don’t understand all these negative reviews- this is a nonprofit, nonkill animal rescue that fills a long held gap here in Fresno and unlike the rest of the rescues here in town, is willing to take in stray/lost dogs. Of course they charge to release your dog back to you if it gets taken in there, they have to cover expenses to be able to continue offering the services they do. This isn’t a city/ government ran shelter- they don’t run off of our tax dollars and don’t have an obligation to its citizens to respond as such- they offer services because they volunteer to do so and have limited resources. So thank you Fresno Humane and volunteers- you’re appreciated!
We are so lucky to be in their jurisdiction. Fresno Humane has taken in a few dogs I found and gotten them to foster, rescue or adoption so quickly. If you find an animal in Squaw Valley or Dunlap, don’t hesitate to bring it to them. (& leave a donation while you’re there, to help them help animals!)
Staff that worked in the kennels we very polite and patient, I cant say the same for the staff in the office. I wasnt asked if I wanted to see my dogs, or I.D. them, I had to say I wanted to go back, then I had to wait because other owners came in and thats fine but when theres several people working its annoying to be looked at like your a bad owner and no one take initiative to help you.
They are wonderful. I was driving on Hughes and saw a lil black cat almost get hit by a truck so I took it to the SPCA and they wouldnt take her so I brought her here and man am i glad cause her ear was tagged and i was told they wouldve put her down. The ladies at Humane loved on her and told me they had a place for her in a library where she can run and catch mice if she finds em.
Since the beginning of July I have been catching feral cats in my neighborhood and taking them in to be spayed or neutered. This place is run efficiently by a staff of wonderful and caring people. I could not have done this without their constant care and help. I bought a trap and food and 6 cats in all will be living better lives. I wish I could line item my tax dollars so more of the taxes I pay goes to this worthwhile endeavor because this service is not just needed, it is a necessity. Be strong, you do great things out there.
The vaccine for rabies was given out free on Saturday February 15, 2020. Micro chipping of dogs and cats was $10/animal. While the facility is small with limited parking, the people are very helpful and considerate. Call ahead if you need vaccines to see when the next clinic will be.
Come here often when Ive come across strays in our area. Staff is always very helpful, they take a picture and vaccinate before even taking stray dogs in to help combat illnesses. Wonderful organization that deserves a new state of the art location for all the great work they do.
Front desk was not friendly. There is only one person that was helpful and seem to be willing to take the dog that I found. Im trying to save a dogs life and I dont appreciate the bad customer service. It was also difficult to find I suggest that they have bigger signs. Also they will not pick up Strays you have to bring them in there to them.
So appreciate what these people do. Brought in two sick puppies dumped in Biola. They took them right in and recognized what sweet little pups they were. About two weeks previous to this, they came out to pick up a large German Shepherd that wandered into our warehouse and wouldnt leave. The staff member was very considerate and gentle while trying to persuade the dog into the truck.
NEVER try to contact these people on the phone. I was on the phone for an hour waiting for someone to get to me about a large dog running in our neighborhood. Who knows if this dog tore up defenseless cats or other animals while I was sitting on hold. What happens if it would have attacked a child. Uncalled for! An HOUR really...
It was my pleasure and honor to be part of a road trip of fellow Tesla owners in the Los Angels area who drove up on todays cold rainy Saturday to deliver much needed warm blankets and bedding for the dogs waiting to be adopted. The staff were very kind to me and my furry son Maximus and enthusiastically appreciative for the abundance of warmth and joy we brought. I am certain that the animals in the care of these nurturing and kind people will be in high spirits and perfect additions to every home they join.
Horrible customer service skills. Lady up front was extremely rude and inconsiderate. Poor kitten Im trying to give shelter. Shes fragile, weak and sick. But they still refused to take her in. I take that as animal cruelty. Im doing my best to help her stay alive. But shes probably too weak, to survive through the night.
This is a fantastic shelter with a great group working relentlessly to save animals and it shows! I had a relative whos dog got out a while ago. The dog ended up at this shelter and was found by the family a few days later. The staff didnt make anyone feel like a bad guy, they simply educated this pet owner and helped them fix their dog (since that was the reason for the escape in the first place). The outcome was, the dog is back home safe and sound. Hes healthier and doesnt breakout anymore! Thank you Fresno Humane!!
My experience with Fresno Humane is an amazing one. What these wonderfully smart talented ladies have accomplished in such a short time is nothing short of phenomenal. They love and compassion they have is extraordinary. They have turned a sad dark terrible place into a bright and shiny happy place to be. The education that is happening IS making a difference. I volunteer for both ACT and FHAS and love every minute of it. There are tons of volunteer opportunities there. Come spend some time with the people and come love on the dogs!
I adopted a dog that owner didnt claim. Got blessed with a dog already spayed, housebroken and trained. Only thing I was not pleased with is that she had an ear issue and we wondered what was going on and took her immediate to our very. Didnt take long to find they had missed a foxtail in her ear that wasnt fresh but nasty and big! Poor baby had this in her ear for how long we dont know but longer than a month our vet said. There shelter should of found this since they do physical exams on so dogs brought in.
Everyone is caring and supportive but Brenda in the office and one of the Animal Control Officers ( I apologize her name escapes me but she is a Supervisor Brown curly shoulder length hair) are absolutely awesome and caring but straight forward and just really helpful. I truly feel thier support and determination to help me through this very dificult time, they are a blessing to me and to our community!
I have ordered from them several times, the burritos if covered correctly take for days in the fridge without issue. The tacos on the other hand will go really stale if left uncovered for even an hour. I have had the place orders for six friends when traveling out of town because they all each one of the four foot burrito.
They were wonderful!! After calling & reporting (twice in 8 days) 2 Chihuahua puppies running near the cemeteries to the CCSPCA (1/2 a mile away from them), I stopped into the CCSPCA to report the same dogs and was informed that they wouldnt do anything to help the puppies because they were on the WRONG SIDE OF THE STREET. You read that correctly, they were on the wrong side of the street (county not city) therefore, ccspca would not help them. I called the Fresno Humane Society, and they were there in less than an hour.
A large injured opossum was in my driveway that eventually crawled under my gate. Unable to let my dogs out, I contacted Fresno Humane Animal Services to help. Maria was very helpful over the phone and an animal control officer was at my home within the hour. The officer, Mike R., was very friendly and helpful. The opossum was removed from my property for treatment at Wildlife Rescue, if possible. Well done!
So I foster dogs for a rescue out of paso Robles. I have to say Fresno humane is amazing to deal with. Despite where they are located at since it is the county contract they are making the best of the limited resources they are given. The kennels are clean and the staff is so easy and nice to deal with. Often when I foster dogs from other shelters they come out sick and not in the best conditions with tics and kennel cough and smelling awful among other things, but Fresno humane dogs come out without tics and if they have a health condition they are being treated for it. They are truly trying to do what is best for the dogs and other animals there. They want to save every life they can.. They are showing that in the right hands the dogs of Fresno county have a future and they are educating the public on spay and neuter.
Well I am biased because I am a employee. I can still say how amazingly proud I am to be a part of such great change in our valley. If you need help or information dont hesitate to give us a call. We cant help or fix every situation but we will do our best to help or at least get you headed in the right direction.600-PETS
Super disorganized and have no place for animals. Keep crates in the old dingy trailer they call and office. In an old building that’s falling apart. I would hate to see the conditions inside. Don’t take barely any animals. Don’t take cats like other shelters have said. Don’t go there if you have animals try and find a different rescue and if you want to adopt go the the Ccspca. If I could give it no stars I would. They don’t care about animals.
Most caring people. We rushed. dying feral cat we found in our driveway not sure it it was hit or poisoned but tried to see if it could be saved. The poor kitty didnt make it but made me feel better that it passed with other kitties and love around instead of under a car in the driveway. Brenda told us to leave the kitty and she would take care of it. If we could trap the other feral kitties they would spay or neuter and we could release.
I called and ask them to pick up a stray dog roaming around house to house. No show and waited for a whole day. I called back and they told me to go catch it so it be easier for them but they may not be able come in today so maybe tomorrow. Why you guys making me do your job?? At least have the courtesy to call me back that you guys cant come get it and instead of having me going out of my way to catch it for you. Thank God he wasnt biting anybody. Now I have to bring him in because I cant let the dog getting into trouble with my other neighbors or their dogs.
There’s a white girl there that does not know how to give shots. Every time I’ve had my cat there and both times it had to be her cause she was working she hurt my cat. Most of the medicine was spilled, and the other three times it was someone else and my cat didn’t even know what we did and she didn’t even make a sound. So just watch out for the kinda big white Turk.
Worst human interaction! People that work/volunteer need to step off their high horse and be considerate of other peoples time and obligations. Shouldnt have to fight to get my dog back, have to deal with them changing their story and keeping him from me. Looks like they pick and choose what dogs to get for themselves when they already belong to a loving home. Have already taken legal action against them to get my dog back. I will fight until I get MY dog back!
The improvement to County services are beyond words. FHAS proves how a hole lot of heart and volunteer contribution can save countless lives. They focus on reuniting owners, public education, networking, and adoptions. It is amazing what they have been able to accomplish in 5 months.
Racist inhumane judgemental staff! Went in to try and get my dog back after I received a call saying they had him! I had to work during their business hours so I told them that I would go the next day and they said that was fine. When I went in to get him the folllwing day they said he was up for adoption & would not let me get MY dog back even after I said I would adopt him just to get him back! worst business over!
Helped us beyond words with our 17 year old Fragile, Renal failure cat, sent us BACK TO SPCA on Hughes on Saturday. And told us to check the quarantine room!!! Like 40 animals! And she was there, scared, wet,way worse than 3 days prior , no warm towel, hurt by a team member who will get our input asap , starved, thirsty, choked, etc! They should ALL be fired! 47 on your side I feel a BIG EYE OPENING ASPCA Fresno 103 S, HUGHES ave STORY of wrongdoings... Im sick over our visit to find our kid Kit Litters! *********************************Thank you HUMANE SOCIETY& for your personal experience with 2 of your cats,Windy W & David B***Jitters😪😰😃
Fresno Humane Animal Services is a well run, clean, and humane organization. Euthanasia rates have dropped to less than 9%. 80% of their intakes go to rescue. They are doing a bang up job with little resources. They are well organized, motivated, and caring. I am proud to help spread the word about FHAS!
Its been 2 weeks and 4 days and they havent picked up a homeless dog thats around my property that poor dog hasnt died because Ive been occasionally giving him food and water. Its more than 100 F most of the days. I dont know how many times Ive called them now and they havent came to get the dog. They came once and couldnt get the dog so they told me they were gonna set up a trap. They never came until I called, well they came on a Saturday at 4pm then they said they had the trap but was too late and too hot that they were gonna come on Monday well Monday came and Nothing! I had to call again and they told me THERE WERE NO TRAPS AVAILABLE! So they gave OUR trap to someone else. Well days have passed Ive been calling and they tell me the same thing every time I call. If that dog dies itll be because of them.
The earlier review by ivette marquez is true. Fresno Humane is racist. They only like to work with Christians and non-LGBT. They consistency refuse to make connections with Latino animal rescuers and activists. I have seen them spread rumors about people of color and have those people of color blocked out of social media. Im a Latina Harvard grad and when I attempted to propose Ideas they immediately swarmed in to silence me and threatened others to do the same. If those people did not comply they feared losing Fresno Humanes support. They are very ego centric bunch and they ostracize any rescuer who is not white, straight, and Christians. The animals suffer because of them. Because how can a shelter save animal if it refuses aid from peoples of diverse backgrounds? So sad for the animals.
Angyla was amazing! Im trying to rescue 3 day old kittens. I called everywhere and nobody would point me in the right direction without some sort of payment. Angyla actually took the time and tried to be as helpful as possible. I at least now know which course of action I need to take. Cant be more thankful.
I adopted my 3 year-old cat Frankie from FHAS via Whities Pets last week. My wife and I were thrilled to add such a beautiful animal to our family. He is happy, healthy and comfortable in his new home. We thank FHAS for their commitment to animal welfare and saving lives long enough for their lives to be saved again by their new caretakers.

2021-12-23Friendly staff. Had a nice cat that pitched up at our doorstep. Assumed it was a stray. With the winter coming we trapped it and brought it here. Luckily it was chipped and they reached out to the owners.

2021-10-15I have been volunteering at FHAS for several years. It is a wonderful place. The animals in their care are treated with kindness and receive the proper vaccines and meds upon arrival at the shelter. Am I saying this just because I volunteer there? NO! I have volunteered at a few other local shelters and chose to leave after I saw the way the animals were handled. I have learned so much from the staff here, they are knowledgeable and kind. If they seem short with people that come in its only because they are busy with all of the animals coming in and out of the shelter. They are Fresno County animal services - responsible for ALL of Fresno County - thats a lot of area! Unfortunately shelters are sometimes sad places to be and can take a toll on your heart so I commend the staff for all of their efforts to save animals and keep going. We see hurt animals come in, we see neglected animals come in but we also see some amazing animals come in and it makes you wonder how they ended up there. So, before judging think about what the staff and the volunteers go through being there, not knowing what the day is going to bring. They do the best they can with what they have to work with. I am proud to be part of their team!

2021-08-17Horrible staff. Absolutely dont care whatsoever. There was numerous bad things I want to say, but first Im directing this to Tracy. You are horrible. Mazikeen was that dogs name and you know it, you know she listened to it and changing her name back from her adopted name is just gonna hurt the dog getting adopted in the process. You are spiteful and mean. I hope you lose your job. As for the rest of the staff, they have no care for the animals but like TWO people which is unacceptable. They basically slap you in the face with words if they dont hear what they want. I wouldnt go here ever again. Also one of the Hispanic ladies closed my leg into my boyfriends car door cuz she got mad at me 😑 seriously reconsider your staff dude.

2022-05-12I trapped a young feral cat and took to Fresno Humane Animal to TNR and days later it died on. I called them to see if they can pick him up since it died from their procedure and they refused and were not even compassionate about it. Then they tried to say it was an old cat when I have seen this cat as a kitten and had been trying to trap him since then. I thought this place was suppose to be better than the SPCA but I guess that wont be the case. I will no longer take any animals to this place ever again. I try to do my civil duty to help any animal in need and try to help control the over population of feral cats. I will pay the extra money and take them to Valley Animal Center they are much more concern for animals this this place.

2020-12-11Went to check a dog for possible adoption. The process was easy. Went on their website and filled an application , asked about a specific dog, and then waited for email confirmation. I saw the dog in a meet and greet location with my own dog in tow , and they did their business sniffing at each other.Unfortunately I didnt end up adopting that dog , but the process was fast and simple.

2020-02-23This place is run by people who have a heart for animals. Somehow they do a fantastic job with a limited budget and do the best they can in older limited facilities that were once the Fresno morgue. Fresnans need to stand up for this facility and be willing to help with donations and supplies. When opportunities arise for them to have a larger new location where the needs of more animals can be met easier, Fresnans need to speak up and make their voices heard. They do a great job and they need our help.

2022-03-01They have been responsive and kind all three times that I have dealt with them regarding stray dogs near our house. They do a good job given the huge area they have to take care of with limited resources. Thank you!

2022-03-03I brought a dog in that I had found so they could see if he was chipped and return it to its family. The girl there was very friendly and very helpful. She was also very sweet to the dog.

2021-03-23I am so upset right now. I took in a stray with some labored breathing but he couldnt have been too bad because he gave us some trouble when we tried to catch him. They advertise that they handle feral cats for catch and release and post all kinds of wonderful stories that I am now under the impression are complete and utter bs. I stressed to the girl who accepted him that I did not want him put down. To contact me before they did. I just wanted a vet to look at him. She basically said they dont handle feral cats and theyd observe him- THEN WHY IS IT ON YOUR WEBSITE!!! I reluctantly left him with these people thinking that at worst theyd just monitor him and made it very clear that I wanted to be contacted and that I would make arrangements for him if they couldnt handle him. NO PHONE CALL- NO CONTACT until we called them- DEAD CAT! Then we get conflicting stories about what happened to him. You are terrible. You should be ashamed.Dont even bother responding to this post- ITS TOO LATE- HES DEAD. That is precisely what I was trying to avoid. If you have a sick or feral animal- take them OUT OF FRESNO!!! Its not just this place.

2018-06-21They do so much... they offer low cost spay and neuter. I try to fix all the strays in my neighborhood that hang around my house. We need NO more stray animals... we all need to do our part.
